Reviews of Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area
Amanda Edgar
We spent several hours here doing short hikes and just exploring the canyons. We visited in October and it was hot 80s F, but not unbearable. Many of the trails are very walkable and easy. I would recommend a hat and sunscreen as there is very little shade. It was about a one hour drive from Las Vegas and a perfect day trip. We combined this with also driving to Death Valley at sunset. Beautiful landscapes and so much to see. Highly recommend!
Brian
Red Rock is the perfect day trip if you are in Las Vegas and want to enjoy the outdoors. There are numerous trails, each with dynamically different scenery. The Calico Tanks is a 2.5 mile round trip hike with about 400-500 feet in elevation change. It is absolutely beautiful. When you get to the end, scale the wall for an amazing view of the entire Las Vegas Valley. If you are a bit adventurous, go off trail on the way back. You can't get lost, as the canyon walls lead back to the trail head.

If you’re in Vegas this is a must see. It’s a quick 30min drive from the strip. It’s like a 20 minute drive without stopping to drive through. Very inexpensive and excellent scenery. There are areas to pull off every mile, each with incredible back drops for photos. There are trails after virtually every stop. From short hikes to advanced trails for long hikes. It’s got everything you could ask for. Absolutely gorgeous, a must see and one of the few inexpensive experiences you can find in Vegas.

Amazing scenic drive and the weather was perfect that day. If you time your entry right, don't forget to have a picnic lunch at the Willow Springs parking lot... plenty of picnic tables just be aware they aren't covered so you're exposed to the sun. Many stops and parking lots along the scenic drive for photo opportunities. I'll be back here again someday!

This was my first real glimpse of a proper desert, with mountains, giant boulders, Joshua trees, and those red rocks that give this place its name. It's absolutely gorgeous and if you're visiting Las Vegas this is a must. It's only a 40-45 minute drive, and it's easily accessible. There's a 13 mile scenic loop that offers many stopping places for pictures. There are also many great trails. It's just incredible to have such a scenic area so close to the Vegas strip. Do take plenty of water, but it's just on the outskirts of suburban Las Vegas so food, gas, and shopping are only a short drive away.

Chill. Well more the vibe than the temperature. On that thought, this is a place best seen in the morning. Both for the temperature and the light. The main entrance has a visitor center and a cost that requires a reservation. Save your money and time and simply drive down to one of the free trailheads. The trails are groomed and fairly flat. You can easily do an hour adventure by walking a half hour out and then turn around and come back to your car. I think my favorite thing was the variety of cacti and succulents that we saw.

A scenic, serene drive with ample look-out spots, just outside Vegas!
While the Red Rock Canyon Overlook that is outside the park, a little west along 159, is still beautiful, it’s nowhere near the grandeur of the one way scenic drive inside the park. Walk-in day pass might be tricky sometimes, we were turned away after waiting in queue for about 20 mins, however when we exited the park and tried reserving online (network is patchy too) it worked! There were passes available for the day online, glad we checked, if not we would have missed out on so many picturesque spots along their scenic drive. Some places involve small hikes, but a very enjoyable experience. Majestic colorful views, especially on a sunny day with blue skies!! Might get windy at times. Definitely worth visiting and better to reserve online and join the “Reservations” queue at the entrance.
Lorri Parks
What a phenomenal place! You can pay your $15 per car and leisurely drive along the 13 plus miles of road stopping to explore or hike whenever you want.
There are bathrooms sprinkled throughout each of the stops and maps to give you the perspective of where you like to hike as well and trash cans to keep the place clean.
You need to check under your car every time you pull out to ensure there is no tortoises underneath :-)
It was an enjoyable stop that everybody needs to experience.

This is a must visit if you’re in Vegas! You can do the Scenic Loop and stop off on trails based on the difficulty level that you want to explore. Absolutely amazing to be surrounded by beautiful mountains and to watch the color change of the rocks. I’m a beginner when it comes to hiking so I did Lost Creek. You really can spend hours there if you want. It’s one way traffic on the loop so definitely enjoy the ride around too.
Donna Smith
We went to go hiking on Christmas morning. We got our passes to enter the park and it was easy. We hiked some of the trails but it started getting ready windy and the temperature dropped a lot so we called it a day. The hike to the waterfall was fantastic. I've been to the park several times and I love it. If you are visiting Las Vegas, take some time to visit this great park.
Justin Gordon
If you live in Vegas or are just visiting and want to grab a quick hike, you can't go wrong with this area. Getting inside Red Rock canyon requires a reservation, but there are so many great hikes outside it you don't need to even go in. Mid creek oak creek are two of my favorite. Both average around 4-5 miles and easy to moderate in skill level. Just be sure to bring some water for your trip.
If you go in the Summer months be sure to go early as the temps out here can get in the 100+ degree range.
Celina A Diaz Bórquez
Great climbing, good hikes, beautiful views!
November mornings are perfect for climbing, it gets a little colder later during the day.
If you want to get In the Valley you should make a reservation, the approach from there to the walls is short, alternatively, there are other areas with parking and no need for reservations, also good climbing.
Kevin Hua
With a scenic drive and a selection of hikes of varying difficulties (all the way from gentle sunday afternoon stroll to oh my god why am i doing this), there's something here for everyone!
The scenic drive will take approximately 25-30min depending on how fast you're sending it. The hike we completed was the Calico Tanks, leading to quite a nice overlook. The hike is rated as moderate, which is accurate: there are certain portions that are a touch technical and require a bit of sprawling to navigate.
They also recommend about 1L of water / mile hiking: the day we went, it wasn't overly hot and actually had a bit of a cool breeze, but we still ended up drinking a fair bit. Either way, just make sure you're well prepared to enjoy yourselves !
Matthew Converse
Great hiking with unique landscapes. Highly recommend The Calico Tanks Trail. Short moderately difficult trail due to some rock scrambling. Very unique landscape and a great payoff at the top with views of the Canyon, Las Vegas Strip, and Downtown Vegas. You will be hooked on Red Rock after this hike.
Yufeng Liu
This is such a beautiful area with sights to see, hikes to take, and routes to climb :)
I highly recommend taking the time to leave the pullout areas and walk further in to experience the different vantages offered from within the park. Many of the sandstone ridges and hills can be mounted with relative ease and provide a variety of beautiful vistas to enjoy.
Please stay on the trail and keep this area as clean and unblemished for your next visit.

I loved my time ⏲️ in Las Vegas and spending time with my family 👪 here at this attraction was the ultimate! The weather was just right for the day, but PLEASE take plenty of water 💧! It's the perfect place to take in the scenery and enjoy the wonderful miracles of life. If rock 🪨 climbing and scenic outdoors are your thing, this is the perfect place to be!

Nature is so beautiful! We rented a car so it was easier to control our schedule and where to take pictures. There is a small admission fee to enter the park ($15) for non-Nevada residents. So gorgeous you can spend a whole day.
Alisha Anker
We had a few hours before our flight home and Red Rock Canyon was the perfect destination. Just a few mins west of Vegas and only 15-20 to get back to the airport. We stopped at the Welcome Center to get our bearings, see the exhibits, and pick up some last minute treasures at the gift shop! Then drove the 13-mi scenic drive, stopping off at several trail head lots along the way to snap pix and get up close and personal to nature. So beautiful! Lovely area.
Ivan S
This place was amazing to take pictures 📸 and explore mother nature. When you drive 🚗 to this place there are one way roads and you enter where there you pay an entry fee. I had a truck 🛻 size vehicle so I ended up paying $15. Depending on your vehicle it can vary.
Once your there the agent gives you a map to know where you are and explore by foot, bike 🏍, motorcycle or vehicle 🚕. It was way too hot that day to walk 🚶♂️ 🚶♀️ but we did more driving than walking to get as close to the mountain ⛰️ as possible which is worth it.
Please, bring sunscreen 🌞, water 💧, hat 👒 and food and/or snack. Parents, please hold your children's hand ✋️ to prevent them from falling down when trail 👣 walking and leash pets 🐕 if you decide to bring them along. There are bags for you to use in case you forget.
Be aware of not just the heat hot 🔥 😎 but wild animals snake 🦔🐍🦎🐢🐜🐝🪲🐞🦗🕷🪳🕸🦂🦟🪱🦠
Bathrooms 🚻 are in every parking spots but if I would recommend having your phone 📱 around or someone with you because some of them are hard to open or get out when finishing. NO sink. Bring extra cleaning hygiene products in case.
Distance of this activity is between 13 to 16 miles. Nearest gas station ⛽️ is after leaving Blue Diamond which is Evvon gas ⛽️ but it is expensive so fill prior to coming if that makes any difference.
Have fun and enjoy the beauty of nature 😎 I did since I am from the midwest
Vincent Morales
If you’re appreciate national parks and nature then you should definitely visit the Red Rock Canyon. This Gem is just outside Las Vegas, it is incredibly hot and there are some trails that are steep and also very slippery due to small pebbles, so wear appropriate shoes when going for a hike here. It also gets HOT of course so bring water and a camera because this place is beautiful.
Mary
We rented a car in Vegas and drove through Red Rock Canyon and we're so glad we did. Don't get stuck only visiting the casinos...take in Death Valley and Red Rock Canyon. The views are amazing, and you'll never forget the experience.
Laura Ramirez
As other people have said, this is a perfect day trip outside of Las Vegas. It’s super close and you get to see so many beautiful views. There’s also a chance to hike. We did a moderate hike and we ended up with views of Las Vegas, which was pretty awesome. I would definitely go back to try some of the harder hikes. Bae was so proud of himself for finishing the hike in almost 100 degree weather.

Looking for an EPIC and unforgettable run? Keep reading! If you are a casual or even more serious runner and have not ran Red Rock Canyon Scenic route its a definite must. You can park at the visitor center and run from the start of the scenic route. It was my preference to run with traffic (make sure you are wearing colors that are visible to drivers) and to start early in the morning. Going this route means you will have a rapid ascent up to Highpoint overlook (approximately mile 5) and after that is a nice gradual down hill with rolling hills. The total scenic route is a little less than 13.1 miles and is approximately another 2 miles running back on the main road back to the visitor center (probably the most dangerous part of the run). Don’t forget to bring plenty of water, dress appropriately for the time and weather you are running and make sure people know where you are running (there is no cell reception in some areas you are running). If you are looking for an EPIC running experience look to Red Rock Canyon.
Jolene Noel
What a place! We came here for rock climbing, but also ended up going for some hikes that are offered at each pull out. There are also very clean washrooms at each parking lot along the scenic loop. If I had my road bike with me on this trip, I would've done the loop because it's beautiful at every angle and turn!
Christina Mosley
I love coming here! Fall/spring is the best time. Good variety of hikes from easy to hard. Parking can be a nightmare. The parking at trailheads can fill up quickly so make sure to have a backup hike planned.
Rebecca L
Beautiful area of rock and desert flora. Hiking trails range from easy to difficult. Has a scenic drive through the park with stops at many points of interest. Visitors center with nice information area complete with turtle habitat. Obligatory gift shop has selection of local arts
Susan Honaker
Gorgeous! So worth the drive! The temperature is so much cooler and you can really enjoy the surroundings. The air is smells so clean. Really enjoyed walking around and taking nature in!
Serik Suieu
Great national park for hiking and enjoying the Martian scenery! The colors of the rocks, the smell of the steppe and wormwood, only a little hot. Be sure to take plenty of water on your walk!
Kimberly Pham
I love coming here to hike or simply drive thru the scenic loops. So many trail options at this park from long distances to short distances.
During the Spring and winter, the hike is gorgeous and unique. I did a hike a few days ago and it was in the upper 100°and isn't too bad. The nice part is there is a ton of breeze and no crowd.
I usually pay $80 and get the annual National park. It is good for a year and you can go to any national park in the US.
Make sure you stop in the visitor center. The view there is pretty cool and lots of good information. They also have a gift shop and hiking trail information.
gizmo gizzard
This place is beautiful you pay a small fee to drive around there's a bunch of stops which I suggest stopping so you can take some photos. There's little squirrels that run around and people love to walk these Trails. We just stopped and took in the fresh air and beautiful Scenic backgrounds. Also helps since we were there when it was only about 70 degrees in the day and a Chilly 54 at night. Gracias

Don't missed this place if you visit vegas.. it is worth the trip only 30 min from strip. Very relaxing. Nature huge rocks deserts views. And great meals choices on your way out. to avoid the pricey strip food.. if you go inside the state park is only 15 dls per car. But also can just go to entrance and surrounding great as good.
Tim Costello
This place is epic, super close to Vegas and yet a world away. Great biking, hiking and climbing. Stuff for every level of fitness. It's great even as a casual drive through. Can get super crowded on weekends and may require a reservation so plan ahead.
Amanda Handsbur
I’ve gone to Vegas a couple of times and have always found something new to explore. This trip I decided to try Red Rock Canyon. Let’s just say, I loved it! It was peaceful and super quiet (gives a sense of tranquility). I highly recommend if you’re wanting to escape the strip area and find something with a bit more nature.
Note** I went during March, and the weather felt great. Arrived around 9:30a, and I did make reservations prior to arriving.
Christopher Duncan
Very easy day trip from Las Vegas. We rented a car and spent the morning here. There is a one-way loop road that is about 15 miles with several stops for hiking trails, photo opportunities and bathrooms. It was cold and rainy on the day we were here so we didn't walk many of the trails. Wish we could have spent more time on a better weather day.
Ariel Rediker
Amazing for adventurous spirits. Great for outdoor photography and hiking. 15$-$20 to get in. Reserve your spot first for pretty cheap! Arrive a bit earlier than the time you reserved to get through the line of cars. Bring sunscreen, water and snacks. There is a scenic drive and from there you can park at any of the trails, get out and hike, and then come back to your car. Closes at sunset.
Claire Patterson
Amazing hiking/nature excursion less than 25 mins outside of Las Vegas! The drive was extremely easy but make sure you reserve a pass online to enter the park well in advance. The visitor center at the entrance is a MUST STOP. 9am is feeding time for the tortoises! The park volunteers were so lovely and ready to offer any info/recommendations/tips for your visit in the park. Very important note: there are only water fountains at the entrance so make sure you fill up because there is no running water at any of the stops along the drive. Water, sunscreen, hat, and snacks are non-negotiables if you plan to spend time hiking the trails.
Alena Salanovich
Great place for climbing and just walking. Very impressive 😍🏔⛰️🗻 Many stops and parking lots. Definitely worth visiting and better to reserve online and join the " Reservation " queue at the entrance. And of course I recommend this place to visit …
Miles
Red Rock Canyon is a beautiful natural landscape in the Nevada desert. I have visited here many times in the past. I recommend driving the scenic loop, going hiking, and visiting the beautiful visitor center. It’s worthwhile for an outdoor occasion or a stop passing by.
Nyor Mirror
Just a short 30 minute drive from the glitz and glamor of Vegas. I see from a lot of reviews that they required a timed entry pass. We went in early May and just drove up and paid $15 for entry without issue.
The scenic drive is a one way well paved 13 mile route. There are many pull outs, parking areas and restrooms. There are even bicycle repair stations.
The trailheads have signage that give an excellent description of the difficulty, elevation, distance etc of the particular trail.
Don’t forget water, snacks (picnic lunch), sunglasses, Sun hat, sunscreen and any other necessities.
This is a wonderful taste of rock formations if you don’t have time to visit any of the Mighty 5 in Utah during your vacation.
The are open sunrise to sunset. 1-3 hours if you’re just driving or doing photos. All day trip if you are hiking. I would definitely return.
anon ymous
Amazing place to explore just outside the city of las Vegas! We had a disabled person in our group so we didn't get to go hike but the 13 mile scenic drive and little stops were amazing!!! The visitor center has alot of cool gifts to bring home too. Next time I'm going to go hiking an hopefully get some pictures of a wild burro or tortoise! Well worth the visit!!!!
Adventures into Distraction
Took us about 2 hours to enjoy the 13 mile scenic loop by car.It was a very windy and cold February day though, so I could see myself spending a lot more time if the weather was more pleasant. They make reservations on the hour, which are probably more necessary during busy season. $15 per car. Several trails of varying skill levels and time. I loved seeing the petroglyphs on the 0.15 mile petroglyph wall trail. Took us less than 10 minutes to run up and back. There are several stops with parking to admire landscape, some with restrooms and picnic areas. Gift shop at the visitor center is nice but not much local artistry to purchase.
Mark Stench
Beautiful picturesque drive . It's a beautiful drive through the mountains. A great break from the commercialism of the city. Great place to hike or just contemplate and get close to nature. A must do experience if you are in the area and are into beautiful natural areas.
SKnari
Stunning place to hike, couple of watch outs: you need to make a reservation to enter the party, otherwise you can park the car outside but it will be a long walk to each the visitor center and to start and hikes.
It starts to get dark around 4.30 pm and the park closes at 5pm, please plan ahead accordingly.
During the day it was lovely to hike, felt like spring but once the sun started to get down, it got pretty cold, please remember to bring warm clothing if you plan to visit in December.
Matthew Hiers
Took an afternoon hike at Calico Basin, parked at the Boardwalk picnic area and took the trail to the right. Lots of people hiking and rock climbing. Not a creature in site on this crisp, cold afternoon but the view was nice. A nice breath of fresh air and exercise before our appointment to donate our blood. I love you Baby ❤️🏜️🧗♂️🐍🥾🩹 …
Allen Lin
This place in my opinion is totally overrated. It’s a small little park with not too much to see and even then it’s not that impressive. Consider that it is not too far from better attractions like Las Vegas and Grand Canyon and utahs mighty five this is really just a small snippet of what you can see at a national park. The best thing about it was there is a tough little hike to the end where you can see the Las Vegas strip from afar.
David Maltz
One of my favorite places to rock climb! Also lots of good trails that many enjoy hiking (bring water and the 10 essentials). Photo opportunities galore. Lots of wild life in the early morning.
Raphael Whitten
Great place to hike with wonderful views. Be sure to bring water on hot days and some snacks as it is a long trail. Closer to the peaks there are some big boulders you can rest on, otherwise I would bring a chair.
A Porat
Well worth the drive from Vegas. You can either only do the scenic drive or spend hours on the trails here. Very well organized national park with trailheads marking, bathroom and signs.
Lora Lee
So beautiful!! Go early for the sunrise. Not as many people and much quieter. Also, no timed entry. We did the lookout and then did the scenic drive. It was 15 for entry and every bit of worth it.
Cristina Sanchez Cereceda
Absolutely stunning! The way that the colors of the rocks change throughout the day in winter is just humbling and stunning! I completely fell in love with the view and I’ll surely be coming back once it warms up to go on longer hikes!
Arthur Daret
I highly recommend coming here. We didn’t have time to hike the trails but plan on returning. Stunning scenery and views are everywhere. Try to come early in the morning and on weekdays bro avoid large crowds.
Carmen Clift
What a gem of natural beauty, just 30 minutes from the Vegas Strip. We purchased the Scenic Drive, and stopped first in the visitors center. Note: you need to purchase a timed entry, and during busy seasons - buy in advance online. There are some great places at the visitors center to capture nice photos of the red rock vista, it’s a great place to start. There are so many great stops along the route to get out and hike, or just get some beautiful photos.
Matt Henry
Amazing park with lots of trails! Great views and well kept. Some trails are easier than others and you can ask in visitor center. Love this park. Wish there was more parking though.
Angela Bliss
Stunning natural park with many hiking opportunities. A perfect antidote to the Las Vegas strip.
1. Circular scenic drive which requires a reservation. $15 per car. The loop is one way with many areas to park and take photos. Approximately 40 minute drive with no stops.
2. Hikes. There are many hikes within the loop. The red rock canyon websites have information regarding each hike.
3. Information center just within the loop.
4. Just before the entrance fee area is calico trail. Busy but no charge. Restroom and picnic area.
Limited to no cell phone coverage.
Bring water, snacks and sunscreen.
Joy Zhang
Beautiful park and the visitor center is educational. Recommend to download trial map beforehand as there is no signal in the park. Moderate+ difficulty level requires some climbing. Also, make sure you have a reservation!
Courtney Holman
No pictures can show the true wonder of this place. Each peak, each rock has its own color and characteristics. It feels like you’re in ten different countries as you drive around the scenic route.
This is so much more beautiful than the lights of Vegas. If you’re on vacation, Red Rock Canyon is worth every second of the trip. But bring snacks. You’re going to want to stay all day!
Elizabeth Yordy
I’m from the east coast and even thou we have a beautiful forest kind of scenery this park Red rock is beautiful on its own went there twice and exploring this huge park and would definitely go back and recommend to anyone who loves nature and hiking. We stopped at the first location and we saw the red sand stones and climbed around. The second time we hiked the Turtle neck peak, it was breath taking at the top just be careful on the way down as its like walking on pebbles recommended to use a walking stick.
Sonny SaeMae
Beautiful Canyon! Definitely enjoyed touring through it while taking in the views. If you hike through it definitely wear comfortable shoes and bring water during the warmer seasons. Las Vegas does get very hot and dry.
Jordan Gonzalez
Beautiful park with an easy loop for non hikers and trailheads for everyone else to get great pictures. PSA to vets, gold star families, etc you do get in free with the america the beautiful pass so make sure to get it. Just need any form of ID to prove it. That was passed last veterans day and is good for all national parks/federal recreational land for life.
Hannah Perle
Beautiful hikes and sights to see. You can't go wrong w red rock canyon. Great spot to rock climb as well. Also many other mountains nearby !!!
Angie D
Absolutely beautiful! So scenic and lots of information at the visitor center. Definitely worth going to if you wanna get away from the strip and do something different.
Tony Endreva
Great place 15 min from Las Vegas,so interesting ,so adorable with great hikes!you should to buy pass online because it's really busy ,you have choice between great short and long trails! Take 50spf,hat,water and 🕶️,and mountain shoes!it's hot from on April and March also ! Enjoy ! …
Clayton Westphal
Great hikes await you at Red Rock. There are several to pick from but would recommend Calico Tanks Trail as the first option. Do note reservations are required, the scenic loop is where a majority of the hikes are so you’ll definitely want to be proactive with reservations.
Dean
Excellent hike and excellent rock climbing rocks. I hiked Calico hills and it took me about 2-2:30 hours to complete because the wind gusts close to the turnaround was brutal, I couldn’t keep my hat or glasses on.
This isn’t an easy hike, rocks, hills, tight single paths, jumping across rocks. Come prepared, hiking shoes, pole, water, hat, pants instead of shorts to avoid scratches from rocks, cactuses. Enjoy.
Z I
What a gem this park was! Again, we didn't have time to do any hiking or exploring but from our drive through and a few quick stops we found this park to be quite amazing. A very unique treasure of America.
Cris Hazzard
This is like a mini National Park just minutes away from Las Vegas. I highly recommend a visit. Best hikes are Calico Tanks, Turtlehead Peak, and Ice Box Canyon. Search for "HikingGuy Red Rock Vegas" for easy to use guides and video. Highly recommend.
HumbleK801
The views were absolutely breathtaking. We went around 10am and it felt like we had the area all to ourselves. There are several hiking trails you can go on. Check out the customer service center/ gift shop before taking the loop. The red rocks were gorgeous. They have scenic overlooks throughout for great pictures and restrooms also. You will not be disappointed. It was great taking a break from the Vegas strip to enjoy nature.
CAMBO CHRONICLES
Absolutely beautiful!! Great hikes, amazing views, wonderful information about the area. You can learn about the plants, animals, water, air, and the peoples who once lived here.
Al Sesler
Beautiful! A great escape from the Vegas strip. Pro tip skip the tour bus rent a car from one of the casinos. I chose Enterprise and picked it up at the flamingo I was staying a block away. 24 hours in the car was 80 bucks far les than the tour bus and the park fee was 13 bucks. We wined and dined off the strip saved tons of cash. Never paid for parking. All for less than 10 minutes on a slot machine! Red Rock was very nice lots of walking paths wild horses. Very worth it. And it's only 20 minutes off the strip!
Eugenio Gonzalez
OMG what a spectacular view!!! The red rocks remind me of Sedona. Well, in Sedona the rocks are more red. But this place, is beautiful. There's hiking and a place where you can bring your entire family or friends or maybe grupo and have yourselves a BBQ. Yes, BBQ. There are grill provided in the premises. There was a church group with beautiful Christian music. You gotta go here. Is close to the red rock casino and highway 215. I need return with hiking shoes jajahaha. Well, next time, soon. Here are some pictures for your enjoyment......
Morgan Semar
Super cool and some what easy trails. Was able to bring my pup out and we had a blast hiking around. There is great climbing. Be aware that it can get hot and it’s dry here so have water.
Courtney Genereaux
We did the Calico Hill hike and it was stunning. Definitely difficult for someone who it’s not the most fit but worth it to see the views at the top.
The rocks get a little slippery with the sand on your shoes so be careful!
Sandra Osborn
Absolutely stunning place! So close to Las Vegas and yet feels like a world away. Beautiful scenic drive. Trail heads are well marked and easy to find on the map. We did the popular Calico Tanks Trail and we're so pleased. Temperatures are cooler in the Canyon as there is a constant breeze that blows, making the hike really enjoyable. The views are spectacular. This trail is inside the fee area but worth it!
Jacob Merrick
Awesome Day Trip outside of Vegas. Hiking and rock climbing available. If you want to find solice out of Vegas. This place is quiet and surreal. Stay the whole day to watch the Red Rocks change different shades. Nature and Beauty
E. Mayo
I love the trails at Red Rock, beautiful scenery!! Amazing photo opportunities. We used to come to Vegas just for the casinos, restaurants and shows now we must do Red Rock too!!
Debbie Cusic
Short drive through the suburbs of Vegas to a natural wonder. It has a reservation system for entry starting at 8:00 a.m. loop drive was pull-outs offering many hiking trails.
Dom
Great spot for a day trip! If its in the summer months which is when I decided to visit the park, (when midday Vegas gets to 110 F), I recommend getting to the park right when they open at 6:00AM, you will be treated by both fair weather and also excellent lighting for photography!
Andrew Lin
Beautiful area with great hikes, rock climbing, and scrambling. Definitely worth a visit. Only 20 minutes away from the Las Vegas strip, and $2 reservation fee for the entry (use recreation.gov) if you have a national park pass; $17 if you don't.
Donna McDaniel
A must when you’re in Vegas. The colors, the history, the wildlife! THIS is the place for some awesome vacay pics. Always be sure to leave it like you found it. Oh - and stop by and ride a horse across the ridge on your way out.
Fabiano Garcia
Simply amazing. A must see while you are visiting Vegas. The Scenic Drive is wonderful and the trails beautiful, well maintained and well marked.
Robert Ross
This is an amazing area very similar to Southern Utah and the Colorado plateau region. I recommend the Calico Hills loop if you have limited time while in the Las Vegas area. I enjoy seeing photos of Red Rock but a bit of advice for rock climbers: post your pictures but refrain from submitting dozens & dozens of pics; select your favorites. I admire your skills but repetition is boring.
Christine Micks
Just located out of Summerlin, NV.
Calico Tanks Trail is a great trail! Moderate hike with some rock scrambling will gift you with a great view of the park. The “tanks” are natural rock water reservoirs; when there is water present it will naturally pool. Although, during my visit there was no pooling waters, it did not take away from this geological wonder!
All trailheads are off the Scenic Loop Drive (a one direction loop around the park) with ample parking.
Stop by the visitors center to pick up you map and read some historical tidbits about the park.
Sandy Q.
I have to give this place a 5 star cuz the view was so amazing at an affordable price... I've been to Vegas multiple times but never been to this place... We normally went to the skywalk grand canyon area but this time we don't have enough time here so my friend recommend Red Rock Canyon which was like a little over half an hour from the strip... It's so worth it and will recommend to anyone...
Sheryl Guth
Some easy hikes, great rock climbing, a visitor center, and a scenic drive await you. Well worth the 30 minute drive from the Las Vegas Strip.
Daniel Grove
We ventured here for a day trip to get out of Las Vegas for a while. Short drive and you are surrounded by nature again. It is a 13 mile loop, but has plenty of stopping off points to see the wonderful rock formations. It does cost a couple bucks to get in, but worth it
There are plenty of hiking trails and we even saw some climbers. There is a short trail to see some petraglaphs that are said to be 800 years old. We joked that what we were looking at teenage graffiti from the days of old.
Plan some time to stop at the Visitor Center as tbey provide maps of the loop, trails and helpful advice.
TheGuy InTheWoodsOfNH
Attended my niece's outdoor wedding overlooking the valley for a beautiful but limited to 50 ceremony. That was my extent of this Park which was a quick 30-45 minutes outside of center strip Vegas. Beautiful setting, so much classier than some of the chapels in town.
Christina Ng
So close to the strip. Make a reservation. It’s not crowded at all. Came at 8 am. If you are going to hike, make sure to wear the proper hiking shoes. It’s very slippery. Icebox trail is really climbing boulders. The 13 mile drive to the look out points is worth it even if you aren’t going to hike.
Maurizio Zaghen
For the motorcycle enthusiast, or the nature lover this place is a must go, I can't emphasize how great of a riding experience you'll get if you ride through the Canyon, after I got off from the loop I wanted to go back and re do the ride 😂. Definitely recommend it to anyone, the price was $10 per motorcycle, but I don't know what the prices will be in 2023.
Lena Gilbert
Drove the scenic route. Came back the next and hiked a short trail. Spent time watching sunset. Worth the $15 entry.
j hwang
There is an entrance fee to enter Red Rock Canyon. It is absolutely worth it although I can see more and more houses being built at the mouth of the canyon just before entering. Very different from my first visit years ago so I wonder how long before more commercialization occurs.
There is a visitor center with a gift shop, water fill Station, and restrooms. There is a scenic drive that has a lot of cool trails to hike for an up close and personal appreciation of the red rocks.
However, there can be quite a lot of tourists.
Louis Hxplor
From only an hour drive from Las Vegas you can visit this great landmark. Many hikes possibilities to discover these beautiful red mountains!
Bethany Pennington
Been going to red rock for freaking 20 years. Amazing. Just amazing hiked up to about 47 waterfalls free climb to the roof. Awesome place to just get in touch with nature it's nice I always go to the last second but last turn off before red rock that's where all the waterfalls are awesome place.
Dejan Tabakovic
Absolutely stunning! This place was highlight of our road trip. Something that everyone should experience. Definitely going to come back one day.
Christopher Nash
First time here and all I can say is wow! Stopped by after work trip and just didn’t have enough time to check out everything. You will not be disappointed.
Bring water and food.
I posted up a picture of the admission cost.
Please help out and pick up trash.
Jack Li
Very pretty rocks and nice trails. I like it more every time I visit this place. Probably not an ideal place in summer though. :-)
Avinash Manda
Amazing views and multiple viewpoints. It is nice drive through the national park. It has mutilple hike trails but too hot in summer, carry lot of water. We can cover most of the places in car. Worth adding it to list of places in vegas trip
Billy Aceron
This is worth the trip. Very scenic drive. Nice to learn that dinosaurs once roamed here.
It is just a 45 mins drive from Las Vegas.
R.J.
Terrific experience. We went around the 13 mile scenic loop which was well worth the small fee. There were many places to stop and enjoy the view along the way, along with access to various trails. Overall I would recommend this to anyone in the area.
D “Juanito” H
I am not a very outdoorsy person though I did go through the scouts growing up, so I appreciate and respect Mother Nature. There are a certain things in nature which I find soothing and wonderful, and this is one of them. I am no geologist nor an experienced hiker so I won’t get into any of that and try to understand why people are hiking into the rocks around 5pm at night when it is already getting dark and there is at least a 8 mile flat but rocky trail ahead of them, and without proper clothing and any gears. However it is a very popular wedding photo spot that is for sure. The time of the year is perfect mid day (Nov), but make sure to bring cover ups if you are planning on extending the visit until the evening. The landscape is the most beautiful when the setting sun is partially hitting the rocks and drawing the near by shadows, which means every 10-15 mins you will have a different photo from the same spot.
One recommendation, bring a drone! It is not like Zion or Mojave, you are clear to take off here, check my last photo!
Christian Gin
Great way to get away from the city surface. Nature, no need to pay a lot to see things. Beautiful desert with hiking options for all demographics
Patricia Beltran
Rock Canyon near Las Vegas, NV. I've never seen this side of Vegas. This place had swirls of colors circling the rocks. Sandstone rock, black and red everywhere. Climbers in all parts ascending their bucket lists like us or projecting. Hikers, runners and sightseers basking in its red beauty. The hikes are at all levels, easy and intense.I'll definitely be back!
Huiwen wu
It has great red rock views and lots of trails. It is also very closed to Las Vegas, make it very convenient for visitors. But personally, I think the valley of fire state park, which is 1 hour drive from Las Vegas, has more stunning red rock scenes.
Charles Petit
This is a beautiful scenic drive through the Red Rock Canyon. There are multiple pull offs to step outside your vehicle to admire creation. The views are spectacular. Keep a eye out for wildlfe, its there, you just have to be very keen in where you look. There are also bathrooms along the route. It is a one way road, so you don't have to worry about oncoming traffic and the speeds are under 20mph, so others can pass you safely while you rubberneck the beauty of such a harsh landscape.
Kristine Schachinger
Red Rock is a beautiful national park just give miles outside the city. Great way to spend an afternoon.
Khanhlinh Le Begin
Two colors of rocks. You can spend all day here walking hiking.. amazing place 😍❤️😍❤️ …
Daisy
****MUST MAKE RESERVATION ONLINE SINCE ITS A ONE WAY ROAD*** Wonderful scenic drive! The landscape is breathtaking!
Courtney Hopkins
What a beautiful place!! And the kids love hiking there too! The best natural playground!
Jigar Patel
Nice 13 mile ride for a scenic view of mountain.
And very well maintained park.
Luke Mckend
We cycled around the loop early morning to avoid the heat. Absolutely stunning ride with awesome (in the original sense of the word) scenery.
Marc Shoemaker
This fabulous park west of Las Vegas offer an assortment of breathtaking hiking and exploring. Trails are well marked and there are a number of trailheads to explore. Take water, wear a hat and use sunscreen to maximize your enjoyment.
Soghomon
An amazing place to visit just on the doorstep of magical Las Vegas. Rent a gas guzzler for the day and head out in pristine nature.
Ernesto Cal
It was nice drive. But 17 bucks for a scenic drive is a bit pricey. Other than that. It was a really nice experience.
David Pulido
The drive through Red Rock Canyon was beautiful. It's a great place to enjoy nature amd the landscapes. There are a few scenic lookouts to take amazing photos as well as smaller places to stop off the road for photography as well. If you have time during a trip to Vegas to drive out to the canyon, I highly recommend it!
Dee Dee
There’s more than just gambling in Vegas. About 25 miles from Las Vegas strip. Really nice hiking trail with beautiful scenery. Highly recommend.
Sherry Akins
Who knew this was so close to Vegas. Beautiful park and lots of information about the park at the visitor center. If you like hiking, then take a break from the casinos and get it out.
Reanna Tong
What an awesome morning destination during our visit to Vegas! We hiked to Calico Tanks starting at around 9:30am. The trail was well marked and I appreciated the design of the signage of trailheads along the scenic drive. We saw a great view of the strip from afar.
While it was suffocatingly hot on the strip, it felt cooler at the canyon and even had some refreshing breezes. The rock formations are beautiful and we saw a few creatures while there: ground squirrel, mating lizards, and a rabbit.
The visitors center is really, really well done. I loved the indoor and outdoor exhibits, with tons to learn about the area. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Would definitely come back and try a different hike!
Joe D
Very well set up and maintained park. So many trails and ways to enjoy nature.
Helen Pie
It was such a beautiful morning. I'm so happy we decided to hike today at First Creek. We got to see 2 donkeys just strolling by. We had a little picnic and headed back down. The creek was dried out this time around... maybe when we come back in the spring it will be filled up. Still a beautiful experience.
Ping Zhou
A wonderful nature area with beautiful red rocks away from the hustle and bustle of Vegas. Lots of wonderful hikes.
Shay A
Breathtaking and stunning views. You can drive through or hike through the trails. Loved every minute.
Atif Khan
Beautiful place and nice hikes. Grab water and food to enjoy the place. Must see. Mountains are majestic. Watching the landscape you can truly appreciate the desert
Jennifer
Such a peaceful place but definitely a challenging hike. The views are worth the journey!
Alexis Donnelly
Had a great time here. Lots of scenic areas. Great place for pictures!
Suerena Browne
My husband & I ventured into Red Rock Canyon 2 days out of our 5 day vacation. Both days were filled with exploring while hiking and priceless photo opportunities.
Absolutely beautiful scenery!
If you choose to explore by foot, hiking boots or athletic shoes are highly recommended. Also, remember to bring plenty of water and snacks. What looks like a short walk will quickly turn into a 2 mile hike.
Svetlana Larson
Great place for hiking, scrambling and rock climbing, there is several trails and picnic areas with bathrooms
Brent Overy
A beautiful drive . And plenty of places to stop enjoy the beautiful landscape a must stop if visiting the strip.
Robert M.003
There are tons of hiking opportunities here. There is also a reservation system currently in place so that must be done in order to enter. The rocks you will encounter here are out of this world. Give yourself plenty of time to visit this amazing place.
Rosalind Scott
We did not plan on hiking up a mountain that afternoon but I am glad that we did. The view as breathtaking, the trail was easy to follow and clean. We have been back several times since.
Erik Kirakosyan Music
Beautiful place right next to the city of Las Vegas. It’s crazy that a gem in literally 5-10 minutes “outside” of the city. Feels like it’s in my backyard. It’s like a mini sedona but with it’s own character!
Debbie Drives and Travels
Even though it was said a timed entry ticket was required, nobody checked. I like that they have bicycle repair stations in multiple locations for bicyclists. If your a fan of petroglyphs......
Erin Bell
Astonishing. Sublime. Breathtaking. Words fail me. The photos do not even truly capture the beauty. Bring lots of water for the hike!
Luke
This place is beautiful, and has the many rocks to hike and play on, as well as many hikes and spots to check out. The scenic drive is great too. Visitor Center is also well made with a nice outdoor exhibit
Sheetal R Shedbalkar
This makes for a perfect day trip from Las Vegas. Do not recommend going in the summer, it’s excruciatingly hot!
Tyler Kabana
Beautiful hiking and driving experience outside of Las Vegas. Calico Tanks hike was out of this world. Very fun hike with lots of rock scrambling. Scenic drive was nice as well.
Kim Butler
Absolutely stunning landscape! We are not hikers so we drove slowly through the park. There are pull-overs for scenic photo ops and restrooms. Less than 45 min from the LV strip, depending on which end you are coming from. They do have hiking paths and you can even go horseback riding in some areas. Highly recommend this natural wonder!
cody morgan
Well worth the visit! Be sure to do at least a few of the hikes to get the full experience.
Lexi Woon
Breath taking views of the mountains. 13 mile driving loop is fun with winding roads. Great hiking trails. Well maintained and beautiful park.
Patrick Peck
Such a majestic place. Lots of opportunities to hike & explore. So beautiful.
Timothy Roberts
Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is the most beautiful place in southern Nevada. You can hike on a trail in the desert or scramble on rocks or scale a wall or Summit a mountain. The wildlife to be seen, if you're patient, is amazing. There are plenty of places to park and the hiking experience is endless. There is a visitor center and a museum. And they have designated areas for picnicking with restrooms. There is a fee to enter the park, it has gone up to $20 this year. You can also buy a Parks pass, which we'll get you into all of the national parks in America including Red Rock National Conservation Area.
Edward Moises
What a great little drive around the loop. Glad we got the military card to go in for free (veteran). Not too busy and great weather.
Gilad Weintraub
If you like nature or not, you will enjoy it. Awesome view.
Elizabeth Lee
A must see in Las Vegas. Lots of hiking trails for different level of hikers. If you're not into hiking, you can drive the 13-mile scenic loop. The loop has a couple of pullouts to admire the scenery. There is also a Visitor's Center with a gift shop and outdoor exhibit. The exhibit includes a Desert Tortoise exhibit. You can find the tortoise in the make shift burrows during the day.
There is a charge to enter the park. If you have the National Parks Annual Pass, it is free. The National Parks Passport stamp is located at the information desk.
There is a picnic area at the end of the scenic loop.
Robert Rzepka
Being Ohio born and bred, this was an awesome sight. We took a drive through the loop and admired the massiveness and beautiful colors of the mountains. Stopping at several places to take in all that the park has to offer, we were truly impressed. Although we were hoping to see the tortoises that the signage stated, we did get to see one burro by the side of the road. This was a perfect way to relax and enjoy what nature gave us.
JaceTheScarFace
Just try it! Me and my girlfriend drove through the loop, rest/view areas along the way! About 3-6 from what I remember. Just drive through and admire the scenic views.
Tarun Chawla
I love Red Rock Canyon! Been hiking and mountain biking here as it's the perfect place to do both. I took guided tours on all occasions but it's perfectly approachable from Vegas by car- cheaper too.
The natural scenery is amazing - different types of rock formations. Not much wildlife, of course, but you do see some donkeys, spiders, bluejays, etc., every now and then.
What I love about hiking here is that you can make the trial more challenging for yourself by taking steeper sections.
Shannan Muire
Always beautiful! A great place for hiking alone, with a partner, or the whole family! I love taking pictures here, too! There are also many interesting places to go to right outside of Red Rock Canyon where you don't have to pay to get in. Just drive around and check it out.
Sean Thompson
Beautiful area with many natural formations to see. Recommend the loop drive to see as much as you can if you're not hiking or biking. The visitors center is a great launching point to get information about the area, and to make a pit stop before you drive through park. I hope to come back again when I have time to do some hiking on one of the many trails in the area.
John Drenter
You get entry by purchasing the time limited Scenic drive. It is misleading. Once you enter the park, there is no time limit. You can stay the whole day. If you get an early morning entry, you can stay in the park the whole day. There are some really great trails to hike and rocks to climb. The drive through the park is one way so once you pass a trail head, you can't drive back. If you stop at the visitor center once you get inside the gate, there is a guy on duty handing out maps and he will give you the lowdown on where to go depending on your desires and abilities and time. I would love to go back some day and spend more time there than the half day I went through.
Shenan Gilleland
So close to Vegas you can't even believe you're only half hour away. I would recommend the calico tanks and ice box trails both offered amazing views.
Mark Burton
Beautiful views and great hiking, rock climbing.. loved our two days there!
Archilla Buford
Absolutely Spectacular views. Allow for at least an hour to drive the scenic route. There are plenty to restroom along the route as well as areas designated parking areas to get out and take photos. All for $15 per car and free if there is a veteran in your group.
Diego Cazares
Red Rock is a must go place for 1 day trip if you are in Las Vegas and want to enjoy the outdoors, or if you just want to stay away from sin city. Lots of beautiful scenic views.
Tim Sullivan
A fantastic set of trails winding through a beautiful valley just outside of Vegas. The parking, amenities, and roads were all very clean and tidy. Went there on a weekend morning and was delighted by how empty it was.
Renee Oliveira
Took our Jeep out to the rocks. Wonderful experience. Wished we had longer. Beautiful scenery. Pack a lunch and stay all day.
Robert Dechenne
The best non Vegas experience with beautiful scenery and a great drive.
Mari S
Great place to take a hike with family. There is an area called Calico Overlook that is a very easy paved path. You can bring a stroller and picnic! I would not suggest going in the middle of summer in the middle of the day, but you could have the place to yourself. There is a lot of driving inside the park and you will have an entry fee...maybe $20/car? Must see if you vist LasVegas or you want to give the kids a geography lesson. It's the Mojave dessert!
Hiba Malik
Uniquely beautiful mountains! Really nice scenic drive.
Maria Logovskaya
Amazing place, easy access and navigation. Beautiful rocks!!!
Jim Hebert
I never tire of visiting Red Rock.
The scenic loop drive is spectacular.
Shirley Rozier
Just a few miles from the strip & this canyon is there. Loved visiting this area & looking forward to coming back.
Jo-Anne Redwood
What an amazing area and scenic drive. Drive or hike or both.
Martin Klein
Perfect side trip from Vegas. You can do a scenery drive with the car for 15$ including a map. It's 13 Miles long and you have about a dozen stops. You can go out enjoy the scenery or have a little walking trail or loop.
Impressive scenery and just 30 minutes away from the strip. Be sure to bring some water it's hot out there. You can easily spend a couple of hours here, if you go for one of the trails.
Mary Moscatelli
What a beautiful spot to hike! Bring lots of water with you. It is awesome! Bring your camera.
Jannik Ehret
My favorite national park (so far). I’ve always loved sandstone and this park has every flavor in abundance.
Every time I go to Las Vegas I do a quick trip over to the park for a little feast.
Especially if you’re into rock climbing, you’ll never go hungry at Red Rock Canyon. But you’ll always leave wanting more.
Janae Alessandra Bryant
What a beautiful experience!! Absolutely breathtaking views. A must see if you have time while visiting Vegas. I spent about 6 hours exploring so plan for a whole day. The gift shop was open, but the exhibits were closed due to COVID so that was a bummer. Nonetheless there are great trails for all skill levels even children.
Parvez Kutchhi
Take your time and come. Stop at every viewing spots. Do the small hikes on these rocks. Carry enough water, cap, wet towel and snacks.
Lena Kulchytska
Love to hike here! Beautiful canyon
Julieta Kleven
Beautiful scenery and taking a hike in the cool of day, morning or evening is great. Not when the summer heat reaches over 100 F. Stay hydrated!
Chris
We had a great time at Red Rock Canyon NCA. Though there are numerous trails, we chose to go on the Children's Discovery Trail because we have a 6 year-old. However, we were surprised that the trail was a little more strenuous that expected. We made it through fine, but we expected it to be a lot easier than it way. There is a significant elevation change and the path isn't level in many areas. But it is cooler up there, and there are shaded areas under rocks and trees. The area is absolutely stunning. My favorite point along the scenic route is the High Point Overlook. Passports are located at the visitor's center. Go check it out and be amazed! Highly recommend!
Joseph Du
This is still a nice place, but it's not very unique.
kellen knox
One of the best outdoor bouldering experiences, hands down. A variety of quality problems ranging from beginner to ridiculously strong! Dog-friendly and a decent hike/approach to access a plethora of scenic ascents. I mean, Alex Honnold bought a home here!
Nate Holland
We always love going to Red Rock! No matter how many times you go there's always a new spot to explore and enjoy the outdoors.
Jyoti Saini
Beautiful place. I only had 4 hrs. I did a drive by on the scenic route. 50 min from Vegas strip. I want to come back another time to do a hike.
Enterance fee is $15. They sell National park Annual pass which is $80. If you love national parks its worth spending 80 bucks to see any amount of parks in a year.
AJ D.
An awesome little stop on the way to Las Vegas! There is a loop drive around the park with plenty of places to turn off and check out! One of the turn offs led to a trail where we followed the trail to some amazing scrambles!
J Rice
Beautiful. If you come before 0800, you do not need a reservation. After 0800 you need a reservation to enter. Adds a $2 reservation fee to your entrance. Main driving loop is 13 miles, but countless miles to explore on foot. Many trails are stable enough for running, but don't expect to set any records. Challenging and rewarding jog/hikes.
Kareen Caberte - Wayan
Enjoyed taking pictures with the view. Don’t leave Las Vegas without seeing this place!
Pahoua Moua (pmoua10)
Beautiful and breathtaking 🙉😍 definitely coming back for more hikes! 🥾 …
Mike X
The main views and close up trails to the actual red rocks are in the first few stops along the trail. Make sure you spend ample time at the parts of the map with calico in it! Or, to beat the crowd, drive past the tiny 2nd stop and instead of waiting around for parking, go straight to Calico Hills then walk backwards on the trail (south east). You'll be alone with the red rocks! Then you can find a random rock further into the drive to perch on and have a picnic.
Laura Cannon
A must do anytime I’m in Vegas. Make sure to make reservations in advance. We’ve never needed them before but this year we went earlier in the day and it was sold out. About a mile back down the road there was a free lot to park with great rock climbing!
Richard Webb
Don't miss this easily accessible trip outside Las Vegas. Once you get on the loop drive, you are committed to the entire loop. It is worthwhile.
The first stop is best and spectacular, with lots of interesting flows that froze in different directions.
The walk is easy, but you are on your own to figure out the puzzle of paths to get thru to the vertical wall where climbers go straight up.
We saw a number of experienced young people taking the challenge.
Siobhan Jacobson
This place is gorgeous but overcrowded. We had to see most of it from the car because most of the parking areas were full. Also we wanted to visit the visitor center and gift shop on the way out but were super disappointed when we realized there is no access at the end of the loop drive.
Stephanie Rivas
Beautiful Sunday morning hike 🚶♂️ 😊 💛☀️❤️🔥 …
Globe Trotter
Such an amazing place so close to Vegas.A must see if you're in town.
Many beautiful trails and a nice visitor center.Reservations are required before getting in.Even during summer months one could just drive around the scenic loop snapping pics and enjoying the views!
Nadia
Great place! Beautiful mountains and lots of hikes. Gets hot in April and I recommend going during fall. But overall, a beautiful park!
אריאל בירון
Very nice place to go if you have a car and you visit Las Vegas .
It’s kind of 15 minutes drive from vegas and entrance cost 15 dollar for the whole car .
I recommend to bring a lot of water with you if you come at the summer , and closed shoes is better.
For the lazy ones it’s also amazing just to drive in the place, stay in the car and stop near by beautiful spots
Chavez Web Design, LLC
Perfect for hiking. I took my kids and they love the place. We found red sand and it was really soft. They were a few places were we found water. We were there during spring and the weather was really nice. Bring hiking shoes and be really have the best time in your life.
Niko Mendoza (Niko)
There are so many different ways to enjoy Red Rock! From the scenic drive to the numerous hiking trails both in and out of the scenic drive area, to the running and biking and rock climbing, there is so much to do and see at all sorts of levels. Absolutely gorgeous. Get there before 8 to avoid reservations and crowds.
rick tomich
Beautiful anytime of the year. A quick 13 mile scenic loop one-way drive, and an even better bike ride, though the first 5 miles are quite grueling. Enjoy.
Carlos & Julie
The best time to visit this awesome, scenic area is in the morning when the sunlight hits these colorful hills at a great angle.
You must drive very slow there is a lot to admire.
Todd Ford
Calico Tanks a very rewarding hike that ends up overlooking Red Rock park and the gorgeous Vegas Valley. Generally speaking our weather is 90% awesome! That's why I live here...enjoy, becareful wear proper equipment please.
Logan E
Such a pretty landscape with red rocks! I would go out of the way to visit this place!
Miles Jackson
First time out, was awestruck by the beauty of the mountains, colors & shapes. Saw two mares with their colts on the first trip, beautiful! Ending up going 3 trips out to Red Canyon. Love it! Hey
Jeff Bennett
Great place go check it out you won't be disappointed
Gary Searer
Beautiful place to go. You can hike, bike riding, rock climbing or drive. Reservations for entry and certification may be required for rock climbing. Hiking trails range from easy to difficult.
david lawrence
Probably one of my favorite eco destinations near Vegas! We did the ice canyon and tanks! Both offered amazing views, fantastic trails and diverse scenery.
It’s worth every penny of the entrance fee.
Chris Nelson
In my own personal opinion. It is not only visually stunning, but simply the finest climbing area I know of....non stop action...something for all skill levels. Only 30 min from the Vegas strip. This area is the Bellagio of the outdoors!
Justin Self
Great place to take the kids. Lots of great scenery for photos. Make sure your kids have some good shoes with good tread. Ours didn't and we had to pretty much hold them up the whole way down.
Derrek D.
Beyond amazing!
The views, it snowed during our visit! Breathtaking!!
Make sure you gas up, it's one way in and the same one way takes you to the exit after driving 10-15 miles.
MJ Shishavi
Beautiful nature, whats there not to like, only 20 min outside of the city of Las Vegas. I live very close to it, only 9 miles. I just like it better when there are less people so i can get a break and to me thats how i enjoy nature. Its very busy on weekends bc its not far and allot of people show up on weekends.
Dana Marie
Great hiking! The air is crisp and clean. There's a trail for everyone's fitness level and it's one of THE BEST places in the Las Vegas area for outdoor entertainment! Blessings all.🙏🏾❤️🙏🏾 …
eniko szentirmai
Fantastic place for rock climbing, hiking, biking.
Jaime
A must if you're any kind of an outdoorsy person and visiting Vegas. Take a break from the strip and come relax here for the day. Only 30 mins away.
Can get quite warm however so be prepared and bring plentiful water.
Lots of hiking trails and very scenic landscaping.
Jill Jaeger
Great views. Visitor center on the scenic loop. There are some free spots to park to enjoy the area outside the scenic loop. Goff for hiking and biking.
Andrew Brewer
Our family is big on exploring National Parks and this is by far one of our favorites. Lots to do and wasn't overcrowded. Ladies at the shop were very nice as well.
La Comel
A gem. Pre book entry.. read the sites details abd then go and enjoy! We actually took the loop twice as it is a one way trip....and we decided to visit more places as we passed them. The space is perfectly maintained and human contact is kept to a minimum so that the natural beauty can rest unaffected for all to see!
Maria Carapia
The mountain is so beautiful. The hiking was smooth. If you are not used to hiking take it easy and bring enough water to keep hydrated. It's an experience worth your time and breath. 🏔🏞The air is so clean and the view is so beautiful. …
Rebekah Magness
Beautiful but reservation system is annoying. One week they didn’t require reservations and the next they did. You are basically SOL if you show up without a reservation because you have no phone service and can’t make it online when you there. Great place for challenging long run on the 11 mile loop. Tricky rocky terrain.
Kai Feuerstake
Great experience.
The area is bigger than expected so it takes some times to drive through.
There are several nice places to take good pictures and have a walk around. Some guys are climbing the rocks. I don't know if you'll need a permission / license for that.
You have to be there at least one hour before sunset 🌇 to have a chance to take good pictures on some locations.
Young Roadie
Great place to take the kids to burn lots of energy! Kids were jumping from rock to rock. Make sure to read the information plaques so you can learn some cool stuff about this beautiful place. Visit the website and make a reservation due to COVID park restrictions.
Ashley Dillingham
Scenic and beautiful. A great intermediate hike.
Jeff Mahan
Beautiful area to visit and get away from Las Vegas. Want to visit when have more time to hike some of the many trails. Was cool they had a bike station for cycling. Was bummed to not see any wildlife. Few birds, a rabbit, and a antelope squirrel was all we saw.
Mladen Cvijanovic
Red Rock park is amazing place to visit. Looks incredible, lot of hiking trails. Grab some water and sunscreen and go see Vegas from far away. 40 min away from Las Vegas, great for spending some time in wilderness.
Courtney K
NOTE: if you’re visiting on weekends, you do need a reservation! You can do it online. If you don’t have a reservation for timed entry when you arrive, they will essentially tell you to turn around and go through the reservation process
But once we were in, we had a fantastic time! The scenic road is ONE- WAY, so plan your hiking accordingly. We were going to start at a short walk to the petroglyph wall and spend majority of the day- sunset at the catico hills, and we’re a little disappointed to find out it doesn’t work that way (unless you take the entire park by foot).
The rocks and hills were beautiful, and trails were pretty clearly marked. It wasn’t overly busy (but it’s also COVID times right now, so I’m sure usually it is). There were a handful of climbers out as well.
Lauren Aranda
Wow!! First time visiting in many years and the majesty and beauty completely overwhelmed and awed me and my husband. The first stop in the scenic loop is the most impressive. The sweeping views and variety of skill-level trails will bring us back soon. Be sure to make a reservation!
Owen Towner
Incredible place! A must visit for anyone that loves the outdoors. Spectacular views even if you just want to drive round the scenic route around the car parks. For people that enjoy a hike, you get given a map and guide to all the trails with a $20 parking fee. Theres easy, medium and difficult trails. We did difficult (turtle head peak) 2000ft and a 3.5-4.5 hour trail. A fantastic trail to do even if your not an avid hiker but moderately fit. The peaks have a book at the top to sign to say you completed the trail. The views are just incredible. Try to start the trails early morning because you do not want to get caught on the trail in darkness. The trail was marked out well and for areas where you have to do a little climbing people have marked out where to go with paint.

It was a cool place. It is right outside of Vegas but you feel like you are hours away from the city. The only thing is that there was quite a few people in the parking area but once we got out on the trails, we had our own space. Nice panoramic views of the mountains. We went just before sunset but because there are mountains on the east and west sides you have good lighting early and late.
Don Bracci
Amazing place to visit while in the Las Vegas area.
Cynthia Basu
A hidden gem! I don’t know why I hadn’t heard of it before. It is a stone throw distance away from Vegas and makes for a perfect day trip. The place is very simple, there is a one way scenic loop drive with several stops.
We decided to do one trail, the Calico Tanks. While the whole trail was beautiful, the surprise was at the end, beyond the last sign of the post. It is a high point from where you can see far far away including the red Calico hills, and Vegas.
If you have a National Park pass, they accept it here.
Megan Hunter
Absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful red colored rocks and desert landscapes. Took a tour with Vegas Desert Tours and they were great. Wish we had more time to walk around and explore but will go back in the future with a car so we can explore at our leisure.
Kathy Burton
HIGHLY recommend! Was the highlight of our Vegas trip. Only $17 for hours of fun for our entire family.
Reservations are required!

So cool to see, we loved the drive and the hikes we could take off of it. Visitors center had very nice people working there.
Hayley
Honestly, there are a lot of wonderful trails here outside the fee area. I go here regularly, it is amazing having such incredible hiking so close to home. Just watch out for the big horn sheep November to January (mating season) I had one run so fast right toward me about a week ago and it was terrifying but also awesome to see such a large big horn sheep so close!
Iron Mind Wellness
Easy hike right outside Vegas with beautiful views! I would highly recommend it. It’s about 2 miles up and 2 mies back down. IF you wanted to extend the hike, you could but you would be “figuring out” your own path up.
Mark
This is THE destination that makes Las Vegas a livable city. Venture through Summerlin, NV and find yourself immersed in a rock climber's Dreamland. Bring water, camera and lined windbreaker when cool.
Cheran Smith
You're going to want to put your walking shoes on for this one! Multiple areas to stop and walk through. The views are beautiful. Every turn produces another amazing view of this natural wonder.
Olga Yakimova
My absolute favorite nature place in Vegas! The mountains are are so colorful and the terrain is so diverse and unique. There is a small entrance fee but if you get the annual National Park pass it’s free. If you don’t have much time just do the whole loop with the car and make a few stops at different sites. If you have a lot of time make sure you explore Calico Tanks trail (has a beautiful panoramic view of Vegas from the top of the mountain) or Ice Box Canyon. There are some caves and tribal paintings on these trails. The Canyon is beautiful during all times of the year. I especially love it in the winter when it snows here (happens only once in 4-5 years!)
Nasser Salomon
Great national park off the strip that is a hidden treasure. It’s great for hiking or just walking around. It has a long paved road that allows you to view the entire park in case it is too hot for you or if you have passengers for which physical activities are too much.
There are a few spots to sit and enjoy the view. Also, you will not find much shade so be prepared.
Little Homie
Great place, very beautiful and lots to do. Only down side, alot of people. Not really used to hiking with so many. 😁 …
Dennis Zheng
Excellent Hiking area, we hiked to Turtle Head Mountain, experienced hikers only for this trail. The last 1/2 miles is considered dangerous and requires skills for up and down. Pay attention on the trail markers, don’t take what you can’t handles.
Kai Phumynavong
This is a must see if your in Vegas. We visited Red Rock In November 2019 & we had so much fun. The hike was nice, weather was cold and it even SNOWED while we were there. The scenery was just stunning!!!
The experience was great and we will definately be back soon.
Michael Rodgers
Just one more thing to do while visiting Las Vegas, what a gem. 13 mile one way loop covering various mountain ranges, amazing views, hiking trails, cycling. Picnic tables and restrooms throughout.
Nicole Gordy
So glad we stopped here on our way through town. The colors of the rocks are fascinating. There are so many trails and scenic pullouts. We only had a few hours to spend here, but we could’ve easily spent 1-2 days hiking. Definitely recommend visiting!
Thomas Nystrand
All the red and rockiness i could ask for. Plenty of short hikes with varying difficulty and big variety.
Playground for hiking, climbing, jogging and photography.
Note that you need to buy ticket i advance online (at least as of May 2021)
Saggio Ricercatore
Gorgeous drive or hike just minutes from the strip. Weather was decent so we rented a convertible and pulled out at every stop for pics and a stroll. Visitor center has a cute gift shop, nice interpretive displays an ample parking area where many quail and ground squirrels were present. If you want to slow your roll in Vegas this is a must see scenic loop. Plan accordingly for weather—drinks, sunscreen, hat in heat. Be aware of flash flood risk when hiking in rain.
Leanne Arvila
Got there just before they closed so I could only drive though but the sunset time in this park is just stunning. I'll have to come back to look at everything in the daylight and do some hiking. This and Valley of Fire are both amazing places if you like rocks, pretty scenery and being outside. Easy day trip from Vegas
Sri Chakka
Good washroom.
Visitor center has good info on the park and its history.
This comes on drive to bryce canyon national park.
Good hike spots.
When u start driving from here start a time lapse u would pass through arch and drive is nice.
Lambros Balatsias
Great introductory trails for hiking and exploring some of the canyons out west. This is a short drive from Las Vegas and a great addition to any trip out that way. While you can drive through, I highly recommend getting out of the car and exploring some of the trails. Some are easy, others more challenging, but all are fun. Bring comfortable but rugged shoes and drink plenty of water - it gets very hot in this canyon
Novobaczky Jozsef
Red Rock Canyon at Las Vegas NV is not a huge park. The circle by car is not more than 13 Miles. But the Park has beautiful view points, with parking lots. So if you want to have a look at the park a bit more deeper just leave your car at the parking area and start your own expedition on the trails.
Tonua Mckinstry
I travel with my husband for work I’m originally from Michigan I’ve never been out west red rock Canyon is gorgeous I’ve never seen rock structures like this it is amazing if you have any opportunity you must come to red rock Canyon
Lisa Marie
I have visited family in Las Vegas dozens and dozens of times over the last 25 years but never checked out Red Rock until this trip. We loved it so much that we went 2x in 3 days. The scenic drive is full of amazing views and multiple areas to stop off, get out, walk around, hike or just take great pics. The kids love climbing all over the rock areas, seeing the different plants, finding hidden water spots, and checking out the different trails. We searched for the bighorn sheep, chuckwalla, tortoise, and other animals listed in our free map/guide, but the only animal we saw was a jackrabbit looking thing that ran across the road in front of us the second day. Either way, it was an amazing mini day trip that we will be doing every time we visit from now on.
Ms Aiyana
So beautiful. Great example of our amazing desert. Lots of choices for short walks or long hikes. Visitor center was full of information and souvenirs. The driving is easy parking from place to place wasn't too bad for us. You can keep driving the one way loop hit spots you miss. Tours and group hikes of all kinds are available if you choose. Was especially wonderful to see the flowers in bloom in mid April.
Shannon Petrikov
This place is breathtaking! The amount of photo opportunities was infinite. No matter how quick you go through the curvy roads (which is all one way and freshly paved) or how slow you want to stretch your day, this place is a MUST for any Vegas travelers. We mainly went to drive and see the scenery but the hiking trails looked exceptional.
Al Fixit
Not much to see for all the trouble of reserving a pass and all. On the drive you can stop to see a few things but not much, perhaps you need to be a hiker to see the good stuff. Not much for seniors.
Alex Bridgeforth
This park was amazing!!!!!!! We took my three boys (4.5, 2.5, & 7mo) for a hike and they had a blast. The rangers were very helpful and they were too many amazing mountains to take pictures with. I would love to come back to go trail running but it was still totally worth it to just do the scenic drive and stop every little bit to take pictures.
Daniel Halseth
I can't get enough of Red Rock Canyon. There is always some place to try, some new trail to navigate, some rock to free solo. I just find it so wonderful based on the time of day, the type of weather, the timing of sunrise or sunset. Just an EPIC adventure and must see!
Adrienne M
We took a 6-year old and two 3-year olds with us here. We managed two short hikes on the scenic trail with them. The kids were so excited when we 'found' the lost creek, which had running water in it, even in mid June. We saw tadpoles and a lizard, and the kids had a blast, even the one who was too hot and her legs hurt 10 steps into the trail!
The visitor center is small, but nice. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The bathrooms just outside the visitor center doors are nice but hard to notice.
Jayme Dee123
There are some of the most breathtaking views near the Las Vegas area, plenty of wildlife to experience if you're lucky enough and pay attention for it, also there are plenty of rock climbing mounts spread through out! I've included some pictures near Devil's Bridge (to the left of girl scout trail; there is not a trail leading this way. If you are not experienced or prepared for a bit of bouldering and narrow hiking, don't venture trying to find it!) The bridge itself is amazing to be seen. Red rock has all sorts of hidden gems like this!!! I urge you to go find one at Red Rock🔥❤✌
Senthil Jegadeesan
The Red Rock Canyon is just 20 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip. The beauty of this place is breathtaking to witness from the flight when the flight lands in Vegas airport. The Red Rock Canyon is a loop drive with multiple spots to park the car and take photos. One can take the trails and do some hiking as well. The roads are well maintained, the parking spots are ample. Please keep water and Sun screen in handy as it is hot even in December.
Carmen Velasquez
My family fully enjoyed a wonderful day in nature. Cost is $15 per vehicle and totally worth it. You receive a map with all the trails, each trails has an Easy, Moderate or Diffucult rating. We had our kids with us, so we did the "Easy" trails. The area is very well maintained. Restrooms are clean and parking areas are clean with plenty of parking. We will definitely be returning for more day adventures. Our hike was in remembrance of my Sister in Law who passed away 1 year ago. She loved hiking and being outdoors.

First time being here at Red Rock Canyon National Park. And I could not wait to go back again.
We got in late into the park due to it was full. So we waited for 1hr and 30 mins to get in. So we got in around 11am and we went straight to the first stop. We didn't stopped at the Visitor Center at all. We started at the Calico and hiked for 3 miles. We saw some people doing rock climbing and it was really nice. Since, i loved those kind a things too.
My nuggets had fun hiking, climbing, hopping amd running around the trails. So sad we couldn't stay longer in one spot. We had to go and hit all the spot. We only have little time but we enjoyed the place.
Annual pass or daily fee at the entrance once you enter the place. Lucky me, I had my annual pass and it's worth it to have it.
The scenic drive was amazing. I loved it. Enjoyable place to look at and relaxing.
Ryan Larson
So many fantastic hikes to choose from for all skill levels. Mornings and evenings you often see wildlife. We've seen deer and wild burros several times. The only down side is it's become extremely popular so you need to come early or late in the day to avoid being shut out due to over capacity, which has happened to us. The visitor center is also fantastic, nice gift shop and interesting exhibits.
You can use your America National Parks pass to gain access or pay a fee to get in. If you don't want to pay there is a First Creek hike that is outside the gates which is an incredible hike with seasonal streams and a secret water fall in the winter months.
And last, there are also several hikes with petroglyphs that you can view.
Kim L
The Red Rock Canyon National Recreation Area is a great place to visit. The cost is $15 per vehicle per day. Once you pass the pay booth, make sure you stop at the visitor center. This center is a sight in itself. Then take the one way scenic route. There are stops along the way. You can take hikes or just stop and take in the scenery.
Bill West
Beautiful scenery and lots of hiking trails. The trails vary from easy to hard. Unfortunately the visitor center was closed due to COVID in April. The visitor center is worth seeing when it's open. You can see real desert tortoises 🐢 as well. …
Mousegirl 702
This place is beautiful! We really enjoyed sightseeing here, just driving the loop. We will come back to do a hike when we’re better prepared. I love how much cooler it is here in the summertime, about 10 degrees. The rocks can be pretty slippery so hiking shoes with good tread on them are a must.
Reign
Very peaceful and beautiful scenic route. Loved it
Erica J
Amazing place is visit, spectacular views of rock formations and cactus. The park is a one way scenic loop that you drive through but allows a lot of freedom with what you want to do. You can do some hiking and rock climbing or just enjoy the view from your car. It can get quite cold so bring a jacket. Most of the designated parking spots have bathrooms. $15 was quite the bargain in my opinion. Definitely a must visit place in the Las Vegas area.
Shaun Holt
Red rock has all the beauty the desert has to offer, come early morning for a beautiful sunrise or evening for a gorgeous sunset. Bring snacks, water and be ready for a majestic experience.
JESTER M
For annual pass holders (e.g. America the Beautiful Pass) attempting to make an entry time reservation online or through the app, Recreation.gov does waive the $15.00 vehicle fee for America The Beautiful pass holders and for people who would have the annual pass for Red Rock Canyon National Park.
To have the fee waived you would need to add the timed entry into your cart, once added you'll be taken to the "Order Details" page. On this page there will be the ticket holder details, which would be the customers first and last name along with the Country of residence, state and zip code. Below the ticket holder information there is an option to "Apply a Pass" where there is a green button that says "Add a Pass". You would click on the "Add a Pass" button and would be provided with 3 options which are as follows: My pass has not arrived, or I plan on purchasing a pass upon arrival, I have an annual site pass at this location, I have an Interagency annual or lifetime pass(when selecting this option you would need to select the pass type that you would have).
Once you would select one of 3 above mentioned options you would scroll down and agree to the Need to Know information and then procced to hit the "Proceed to Cart" button. Once you are in the shopping cart you will see that you are only being charged the $2.00 reservation fee.
Enjoy your outdoor adventure, and respect the land!

I'd definitely recommend the red Rock canyon over the Grand canyon! The scenic drive is gorgeous with a ton of stops and trails along the way. The trails are really beautiful, although some signs are contradictory (different trail lengths and difficulties). Also, some trails are not on the map that you receive when entering. The place is great for hiking tho! Just remember to bring enough water, it's super hot there. You have a lot of trail choices, going from short 1-3hr trails to 6-10hr.
josh prange
This was a gorgeous area! We drove around the area for about an hour just enjoying the beauty of the peaks. There are horses you can feed and also wild burros that you can see if you get lucky. We will definitely visit again on our next trip to the Vegas area. We recommend you stop at a store and grab some carrots so you can feed the horses and burros!
Racquella Matgerm
Love this park, beautiful scenery.
Marleny Santos
Absolutely amazing! The rocks and views are beautiful.
You can follow the trails or start climbing rocks as soon as you leave the parking lot.
There’s only one entrance, try to get there early or the que starts to grow, and the heat will be an issue in the summer months.
Make sure you have enough gas to get through the entire park and back to the city. The first parking lot is the biggest and easiest to find a spot in, the following ones are a bit small and a bit of a pain to park.
The park is dog friendly and will even give you some treats, but there aren’t any dog waste bins or bags so bring your own.
Lending Bliss
Beautiful Beautiful..did I say Beautiful?
Rest Up,, Go early, do as many hikes as possible,, bring water, and a battery charger. Great for family/friends.
Build a rock cairn.
Get grounded and meditate.

You have to come out here if you're in vegas. Best rock formations and expansive scenery at every turn. The scenic loop is great for people that just want to drive through. Lots of parking areas to stop and take pictures. I highly recommend taking a hike on one of their trails. They are very well maintained and once again the views are showstopping.
Brendan Bhim
What an amazing, drive with spectacular views and wonderful trails. A beautiful option for some fresh air and to get away from the strip for a bit. This should definitely be at the top of your list if you are an nature or photography enthusiast
Kimberly Kemtes
Beautiful place to spend the day exploring and only minutes away from the Summerlin area. Visitor center is informative and worth the time to prepare you for what the park offers. Plenty of informed staff to answer questions. The park loop is worth the drive, even if you only get out occasionally to admire the scenery. Most trail heads are clearly marked and indicate the level of exertion required to complete the hikes. There's really something here for all ages and ability levels. Highly recommended.
C P
Hubby and I came at the perfect time. The weather was amazing. We did the scenic driving route and stopped at a couple trails. The restrooms aren’t too pleasant, but it’s better than popping a squat on a bush.
You can purchase annual and military passes good for all national parks.
Kolayah Martincic
This place is one of the best places I’ve hiked. It’s a great place to visit if you’re traveling into Las Vegas. It has a variety of trails depending on experience, which includes trails for starters. There are also nice facilities there for use before you get started. There is a drink and a snack machine too.
Adam Burleson
Love love love this place. If you are looking for a active and scenic get away when visiting Vegas this is the spot. Gorgeous views and lots of trails to choose from. You could spend a couple hours or all day at this spot. No close food or drink places so stop on the way and and pack and back pack. The snastone is slick so wear good treds on your shoes.
Kevin Schacht
Great rock climbing place and the colors of rocks are great!! My kids like it better than national parks but that's just because they can climb as you can see in picture! 20 min from Vegas and a must do if you enjoy nature and dont want to drive hours. Little picnic area now too off of Calico Basin. Love the different colors of rocks!!
Gary J.
Gorgeous 13-mile drive with many vehicle pull-offs and hiking-trail opportunities. Nice guide map provided at the gate, where you will pay the usual $15 fee, which should be discounted because the visitor center is closed (summer, '20).
chris kemper
This place was awesome. A great place just out of Vegas to go for the day. Lots to see and do. A hikers paradise. For those that do not want to hike it is a great drive-through the park. The park has many pull offs to view nature's beauty. We'll be back. Has a very nice interpretive area with bathrooms and picnic tables. Also has lots of handicap areas. The Rangers are very friendly and willing to let you know all about desert living habitat for animals. They even have names for some of the local residents around the center.
ben l
I love it when I can go on a vacation and find a place to do a good hike. It's a short drive from Vegas... A 13 mile scenic loop and 6 or 8 trails of various difficulties and landscapes. Just enough for everyone. Watch out for those cyclists though...
Nicholas Hajduk
Great area to hike and explore. Easy to lose track of time roaming around. Good trails to venture and plenty of different areas along the route. Even if you don't plan on walking around on an adventure, the scenic drive is very nice in itself.
Chris Coxon
Nice scenic drive just outside of Vegas. The colors of the mountains are definitely worth leaving the city for a bit. Has wild donkeys walking through the park and at one of the spots there were a lot of Chipmunks running around.
BW “Bear Clan” Richmond
OMG, if you love natural beauty, you have to go. Just watch out the speed limit is 35 tops, and you know there are them drives that want to go 60mph
Virgile H.
Beautiful park, did a quick hike there for 2H and was able to get a panoramic view of Las Vegas and see all those red rocks at the same time. Just the loop in the park is worth it if you do not want to hike.
Brent Dawson
Awesome views. I'm sure it has great hiking but we got there too late for that. Great sunset over the Mountains. Love this place, definitely will come back again and spend all day here.
Dillon Gasper
Exceptional views from a paved 13 mi one-way scenic loop with multiple trailheads for hikes of various difficulty and length. Some trails are longer than 5 miles round trip while others are less than half a mile. The red rock is brilliant. If going in the summer, pack water, sunscreen, and more water. Only $15 for a one day pass and only double that for an annual pass.
John Huerfano
Excellent place for hiking and enjoy some quiet time
Mahmoud Z
It is around 30 mins drive from the strip. The place is around 1200m above sea level. There is a fee for entrance. It looks that the roads are newly developed and are being extended gradually.
The nature is nice prepare tour camera to talk nice natural snaps. We found some snakes next to the bushes so be careful.
There are nice places which are unreachable by car. I hope they will extend the road to those areas
Crystal Rose
I absolutely love this place. The rocks are beautiful. Pictures don't do the place justice. It cost $7 for a car. There is a visitors center with a gift shop inside. If you love outdoors and enjoy hiking, you gotta stop here. Also, there are places to just pull off and stop and view. If there is someone in your party that is disabled, they can still enjoy these beautiful Canyons with exiting the vehicle. Be sure to have your camera ready!!!
Victor Migneco
We spent a day here to get away from the Las Vegas dazzle. Recommend starting at the visitors center, getting a map and stopping at each lookout and trailhead off the main road. Choose which one based on hikers ability ss noted on the map. We hiked many trails at least part of the way and thoroughly enjoyed. We are both somewhat in shape, but have adjusted our hiking a few notches down from what we used to do.
Atomic67 G
Red Rock National Park is a breathtaking, beautiful place no matter what time of day you visit. I have been there in the very early morning in the afternoon and at night and it's just outstanding. In my opinion you cannot come and visit the Las Vegas Valley without taking a drive through Red Rock.
If you live in the area as I do and you don't come and it's just sit and enjoy the peaceful Beauty regularly then you are depriving yourself.
So get your face out of your damn phone and go take a drive down to Red Rock! 😎
Moaid Alfadeli
This place is amazing. It is one of the most beautiful places I've ever visited. We went over Christmas so we were really lucky we got there early before they close the gates because of the government shutdown. It cost $15 to get in but because of the shutdown there was nobody there to take her money so we drove on through along with everybody else. The gift shop is closed so we just kept driving. They have a lot of places to stop and get out, look around, take pictures or just go hiking. Even the drive to the Canyon from Las Vegas was nice. If you were in Las Vegas and you enjoy the outside you have to go here it's beautiful.
Roberto Ocampo
I loved it. I'm on my 3rd day here in Vegas and I already climbed 2x and I can't wait to do it a few more times.
Merida Ferguson
Recently had my first experience with the Grand Canyon and the Pink Jeep tour I highly recommend. When we come back and bring our 8 children we will do the Pink Jeep tour again. Our guide was very knowledgeable and the stories we received was amazing .
Richard Anderson
We spent 3 hours hiking up and down calico. Awesome hike. 1700 ft vertical rise to the 4300 ft peak where you can see a great view of the Las Vegas strip in the distance.
Toney Woods
This place was beautiful. We drove here straight from Hoover Dam and were not disappointed. It was tranqil, quiet and beautiful. It is an awe inspiring landscape. It would have been really cool to see wild burros, birds or tortoises but we saw no wildlife at all. No regrets. Not all casinos and partying. This place was awesome. Felt like a different world. Wish we had more time there but had to go before rain and before it got dark.
Chris Danger
Every time I visit Vegas, I make it a point to visit Red Rock Canyon. This last trip I visited the park with a handicapped family member and I found the park to be very accommodating. There are a few pull out spots to park your car, when you drive around the park, that are well kept for people who have mobility issues. The views here at sunset are fantastic, and the if you can make it out after a snow storm, the views are almost magical. It is really easy to spend a whole day walking around the different hiking paths or up on the rocks, which is great if you keep eating at the Vegas buffets. The only drawback I see is the lack of regular parking spots. As more people find this place, it is becoming more crowded. As a safety note, remember to bring plenty of water as it is really easy to lose track of time.
The Suarez
This is Oak Creek trail! We go every spring when the springs are running. It's very beautiful and for beginners. The hike is only 45mins and then it all depends on how deep into the canyon you want to go. Very highly recommended.
Sherri C.
Beautiful area. NEED RESERVATIONS ... and I love this and wholeheartedly endorse it!!!! Finally a way to stop the masses of people. Visitation was out of control, which doesn’t preserve the resources. Wonderful scenic drive, great climbing. KEEP THE RESERVATION system.
Claudia C
Well...everyone should see the Grand Canyon once in the life. It’s absolutely gorgeous! It’s when you see places like this that you realise how small you and “your world” is.
The ticket price is by vehicle. We paid $30 for one week access (cheapest option).
There are different view points, toilet access and bars available in specific locations. So, the chances to end up thirsty or starving are low here. Parking spaces available at every view point.
Disable accessible: along the Canyon there is a concrete walking street.
Kids friendly.
Vero Jacquie
Love it, absolutely breathtaking! They have a must do scenic drive (literally), it's part of the way out. They labeled trails by difficulty as well as markers posted so you know which one you are on and they also have rock climbing!
Oleh Demchenko
Amazing place to hang out and relax after crazy Las Vegas. The access costs 15 dollars for a car. There is a visitor center, and scenic driveway around rocky terrain, with multiple viewpoints and astonishing views. Also, there are plenty of hiking trails, some of which can be finished in a day trip and some might take few days. Open any time of year, we went in January and it was fine, not too cold, not too hot.
Christopher “CJ” Monson
Great place see, hike.
Heather Sergent
Its a playground for grown ups! The canyon was incredible, you could hike up different rocks in a hundred different ways to get to different cliffs and overlooks.
The first pullout is a must see for everyone but would be most suitable for older kids and adults to hike on. The paths are literally just giant rock faces..no fences, no barriers. Other pull outs throughout the park offered more traditional hiking paths.
Lots of rock climbers in the area as well which was fun to watch.
Marcin Tandecki
Beautiful park!
There's some trails to walk around, but even just driving through the park is worth it!
Beautiful scenery, really close to Las Vegas, well worth the drive. A great way to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. Take the time, and a quick drive and spend the day outdoors enjoying amazing scenery.
M Chu
Gorgeous. Great way to spend family time soaking in nature's colors. Allow about 4 to 5 hours to leisurely drive the loop and stop here and there for hikes.
Mary McDarby-Rios
This is a must see when you.go to Vegas, assuming you have a car. This 17 mile scenic drive includes multiple scenic spots to stop and take photos and/or hike. They rate the difficulty of the trails, so everyone can do something. Make sure you bring water and sunscreen. I also personally wish I had some hiking boots but I got by in my tennis shoes.
Abigail Norcom
It's absolutely beautiful, the trails are somewhat poorly marked that's why I gave 4 instead of 5 stars. Lots to see and explore. The great thing is whether you want to hike, drive, bike, take your horse or an easy walk there's something for everyone.
Anna
A beautiful natural space! The scenic loop drive is a great tourist drive to do if you are visiting and would like to experience the desert. Colorful and unique rock formations along the drive, with a visitors center that has local desert tortoises. For the Vegas locals there are many trailheads and different parts of the park to try hiking or biking depending on where you live closest to without paying the $15 for the loop drive.
Heather Ientile
Pictures just dont do it justice! Made my want to build a cattle farm and become a homesteader like all those who headed west in the old day! The road wound through the park beautifully showing you all the angles and views! If you are in the area, this park is a must!! The sites are hauntingly beautiful and you wont regret it!!

I had a blast here. Really beautiful park and just 30 minutes away from Las Vegas. Take the scenic drive if you are not keen on hiking. But if you are there are several great hikes in the area. Your visit can be an entire day or just a quick afternoon drive.
Alicia Moon
Incredible scenery! Every lookout stop was a little bit different! The visitor center was also really neat! One of the rangers, Andrew, lead a group tour around the center and discussed the local plants in the area. I really enjoyed this, because I knew nothing about the local vegetation.
aurianna philavanh
Amazing that you can get here in less than 30 from the strip. A great place to hike, take photos and just get fresh air.
The rock formations are beautiful and you can catch rock climbers scaling the walls.
It's only 11miles to drive all the way through (1 way in and out).
John Murray
Did ice box canyon today after a fresh dusting last night. Red area is very beautiful. Different hike areas go choose from with good parking and restrooms. Trails are good. Some can get dangerous for some.
chelseas21
I went in January to this place for the first time. It was only moderately crowded and me and two friends came here to do rock climbing. Our fellow rock climbers where super relaxed and like us, were from different places. It offered some excellent bouldering and if you're only here to hike, there are plenty of places to do that too. It is the desert so be prepared for serious temperature changes when the sun goes down.
Denise Garlow (DeeG)
Loved this drive and to me was worth the entry price of $15. Wish I had more energy to climb the rocks and investigate the area more. This could be an awesome area for family, engagement or senior pictures. Wonderful if you are a photographer.
Cindy Rizzato
Absolutely beautiful!!! We drove through, stopped at the scenic restroom areas for breaks. The mountains and sunsets are breathtaking!
There’s caves everywhere, so interesting to see!
We even caught a herd of desert horn sheep. They seem to all come out just before dusk to feed I guess. They weren’t afraid of us either, walked right in front of us!
The bathrooms were very clean. You pay like $15/car to enter the park.
Totally worth it, glad I went!

We did a family trip to Las Vegas and we decided to do something different. Especially because we love the outdoors. We came here to Red Rock Canyon. There were no Rangers on duty due to Government shut down. So we got in free. There were a lot of people., but the day was beautiful and kids had fun walking on rocks. There is not a lot to see here, but walk the trails. We took the hardest one ice box canyon trail. My feet hard so much go up and coming down with rocks on the trail. We forgot our hiking boots. We had a nice walk. It was a 2 hour walk.
Don Allen
Always a treat when you visit Las Vegas. Get off the beaten path of the strip and explore Vegas outdoors. We do this every year traveling from Houston Tx on Christmas Day. We love it as a winter getaway. Nice crisp evenings makes for more enjoyable walks and daily hikes. Snow always in the mountains. This time we had to bypass Red Rock Canyon due to the crowds! Christmas holidays everyone mommas was out taking a peep. 🤪kz! So we bypassed scenic drive and headed farther west a few more miles and boy were we surprised!😮ground and mountains covered in snow! A must see winter scene for your eyes!
de kalkoenenGOD
It was a beautiful park. The walk we did was a bit long and it was hot. But it was an amazing experience.
Elaine H
A must stop for our family every time when we visit Vegas.
It's good for kids and adults who like to climb. Also friendly for elders to walk around and take great pictures.
Brian Lam
Great site to visit with the family or friends or even solo. There are a lot of hikes, well marked and absolutely gorgeous features. Spotted many sport climbers, but did not get a chance to climb myself. My largest complaint is the lack of parking at each site as the park gets very busy. I also feel there needs to be a return road if you want to come back around the scenic route, as it will kick you out onto the highway outside of the park gates.
Aaron Paschke
Nice that this park is here, but I was honestly expecting a little more. The park is situated on a 1-way loop and you need to decide ahead of time which hike or hikes you will be doing that day. I guess I’m just a little jaded coming from Zion national Park the day before. If it were up to me, I’d take the extra 1.5 hrs and drive there instead.
Amanda
Cool area, camped here for a couple days exploring different hikes /trails . Dog friendly and plenty to do. Campsites open but spacious and well maintained
Z'Andrea Va'Shonti
Such a relaxing place, perfect escape from the bustling strip. The scenic loop was idyllic. There were plenty stopping points to park for photos or start a hike. My signal worked fine but I was prepared for a few hours unplugged.
Layne
The drive is scenic and out of the way. But it’s definitely worth it. The different spots you can visit are amazing to see. There are even some neat spots you can climb and take some cool pictures at. Great day overall.
Mariyam Qureshi
First, the entrance fee is only $15, Its a huge beautiful place. The scenery is like no other. Just 50-60 mins drive from Vegas downtown. Calico hills is popular for hiking and rock climbing. The visitor center has a lot of important information. check that out. Carry lots of water and keep yourself hydrated. Be careful while taking selfies. Its easy to get lost in the beauty of the hills and not be careful of our surroundings.
Lisa Nelman Spencer
🌵This is my oasis in Vegas. I love going for morning, sunrise hikes with my dog.🐶 There's such quiet. You'd never know we're 20-25 minutes from the Strip.🗽 Being at Red Rock is like sitting on a cloud and watching the world in silence.🧘♀️ I love the solitude and sanctuary of Red Rock's nature.⛰ The most beautifully, magical and peaceful spot in Vegas!💖
Jake C
I would have given this a 5 star rating, but they just approved a 120% price increase. Last year, admission was $7, now it's 15. Still worth it, but not to visit as often. The hiking is great, the vistas are breathtaking, but the admission is almost inexcusable. I still love this place. Just a little less.
Jenne Ramsey
I downloaded a red rock canyon tour app on my phone and took about three hours to go, drive through the canyon and come back. It is near town. Stop and grab some water and snacks along the way. Driving the scenic loop is fun. It takes about 40 minutes if you don't stop. There are some wonderful photo stops. I chose not to hike that day because it was 112 degrees. I don't recall seeing any places selling water so take plenty with you. The scenic drive is excellent and pretty quick.

You’re probably asking yourself, who goes to Vegas and goes hiking? THIS guy does, that’s who!
This is a beautiful National Park about 30 minutes outside of Vegas - you MUST check this place out. Even if you just do the scenic loop drive around the park. It’s beautiful.
There’s about two dozen trails to choose from. We chose Turtle Head Peak. It’s not a loop, it’s an in and out trail for a total of 4.8 miles. Difficulty level is listed as STRENUOUS, and you had better believe that. Total elevation gain is 1998 feet - 1024 feet of that is over a single mile, so it was STEEEEEPPPP! My trail app shows that we had a total of 3 hours of moving time but a total overall time of 4 hours and 20 minutes. Part of this is because of breaks we took, and a large part of it was for photos we stopped to take. When you start approaching the summit, the trails get confusing. Keep an eye out for spray painted green or white dots or white arrows painted on the rocks to stay on the trail. It can still get confusing though, and I can tell you that, even though we were using the Alltrails app to find the trail, more than one argument ensued on which way to go, LOL.
I actually thought about turning around about half way up, because it was so strenuous. BUT I’m glad I didn’t. The view from the top is stunning, you can see the whole valley, and even the Vegas skyline in the distance - although it was hazy when we were there.
If you start the trail around sunrise, you will be on the west side of the mountain, so you’ll be shaded for most of the time, until you make the turn to get on the east side of the rock. By the time you are on the way down, you are going to be in the sun.
Take PLENTY of water, wear good hiking shoes/boots, and bring a trekking pole or hiking stick if you have one. Coming down the trail was tough too, because of loose dirt and loose gravel. It’s very steep and hard to keep your footing. I fell twice even though I was being cautious.
It’s a National Park, so get yourself a National Parks pass. It’s worth it!
P.S. - at the summit, find the metal tube and metal ammo box. Leave a note, read notes that others have left, or leave a snack or a bottle of water for another hiker who may need it.

Such a beautiful setting! Seemingly endless paths to hike, rocks to climb and pictures to take. So close to town, but what a difference. Totally back to nature. Saw wild rabbits, wild horses, foxes and coyotes. Gorgeous vistas, was there in the early morning as the sun came up. Relaxing, away from the crowd, a very enjoyable day, worth the drive!
Mark Fishwick
This is spectacular, views are fantastic.
A must to see and visit when you're in Las Vegas. About 20 miles (30 km) away. You need a car. Entry fee (15 dollars February 19) is for the car and all passengers.
There's a route (one-way) thru the site, with official stopping, parking slots at all viewing spots (no stopping in-between).
And a visitors centre at the beginning.
You can go hiking but must stick to the paths.
Dave Ross
I've been visiting relatives in Las Vegas for years and never realized there was so much natural beauty so close. Red Rock is definitely one of the more popular but they do a great job of managing the crowds through an online time slot reservation system. The park was clean and run very well. The scenery and trails were magnificent and while there were plenty of others around it didn't feel over crowded
Elizabeth Kernodle
If you have never been and you are staying local or in Las Vegas it is most definitely worth the drive. There is no fees for entering or parking. When entering go by visitor center first to check out gift shop, read about the history of the tribe that use to live there and the park rangers can give you better instructions on the areas to go to. You will drive your car through the canyon and there is different stops along the way you can stop and get out.
Ben Nicholson
Excellent visitor centre appearing to sit in the middle of nowhere. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Useful signs and exhibits to describe the geological and anthropological history of the area. Circuit walks for all fitness levels starting from the visitor centre, from ~2 miles to ~16 miles around the conservation area.
Tsering Gurung
Since i'm a nature person, i always make sure that whenever i travel i find at least a good hike in that place. Red rock canyon was just that. We stayed at a hotel in the city and took Uber to get here. it was about 16 miles away from the city. From the visitor center you get to explore on your own and hike. You could go around the canyon and do the entire canyon hike, but my friends and I just did the half since we didn't have much time. Amazing spot to take pictures. you'll find some wildlife along the way. we were told that there would be some
rattle snakes on the way, but we didn't encounter any. that would have been the highlight of the hike. As always make sure you stay hydrated and bring some light snacks with you.
Murray Love
They couldn't process my credit card so I got in to the scenic drive free. Regardless, I would happily have paid the $15 entrance fee to get out of Vegas and into this extraordinarily beautiful park. Too late in the day to do any hikes apart from Calico Basin from the Red Spring Picnic Area, but I'd like to come again to see more.
Hemant Parab
Good place for hikers.
Safe and basic level hiking for childrens with age above 8 .
Lots of places to take pics.
Little cold during winter.
It was snowing earlier when we visited this place.
Rafael Quevedo
Beautiful place to spend a weekend.
Keep your eye open for petroglyphs.
Lots of spots to rock climb.
Took my jeep out to rocky gap, a great trail to wheel. Not difficult at all lots of bypasses and amazing scenery.
Teri Ann Schlesser
What a great place! It's beautiful, close to town, easy for mobility challenges and affordable! We took the loop drive, went early in the day and enjoyed the cooler weather! Definitely recommend for a break from the crowds!
Claudia F
Beautiful Place!! They just put new signs on all the trails, they're very well explained, you won't get lost if you follow directions and signs.
Ju Lie
Go and get a national park pass. It is a great value. This park has a lot of good trails with a decent amount of shade . Calico hills is fun to climb around and I like the petroglyphs. Children's discovery was really interesting, but difficult to find .
Jim
Excellent place to visit. I went in April not very hot but I imagine it can be. There are short hikes and longer hikes. Beautiful place to take photographs. You can drive around the loop and stop at the designated areas. None of the areas were crowded. You can spend a half hour in the park and just drive through or spend all day.
There are facilities at each area. Some of the terrain can be difficult depending how far one goes. Great distraction from Las Vegas
Yameka Meriweathers
Great place to get some hiking in and a great view. Make sure you make a reservation online!
Alioht Carlton-hobart
Inside the Senic Loop at Pine Creek Canyon Trail. You must stay focused on this trail due to that is easy to get disoriented, there are small sings that will guide you to the creek but is a bit challenging. It took me about an hour hike to get to the creek. But well worth it.
Leslie
A nice 3 mile hike up the Pine Creek Trailhead... We got a bit off track due to the water in the creek, but will definitely be back to this one.
Absolutely gorgeous views and a surprisingly perfect day for a hike in December.
Zakkery Sherrill
Very beautiful. Buy an annual pass and come a ton of times through the year. Today we got to see a lot of animals and beautiful waterfalls. I got some crazy good pictures.
Ken Young
Awesome hike up the ice box. Navigating the boulders is a lot of fun. Keep going till you get to the end. You'll know when your there as there's no where else to go. Once you reach the base of the waterfall you can climb the steep rocks to the left then cross over to the right side, climb some more then hop back to the left side to view a large pool of water and feel some spray from the waterfall. That last bit is not for the faint of heart but well worth the effort. My son went one step further and took a dip in the icy cold water. What a great adventure!
CONNIE HUANTE
Beautiful. Words and pictures can't do it justice. It's one of those places you just need to experience in person. Due to it being high dessert, I'd recommend going in either late Winter to early Spring, or Fall to early Winter.
GregOutWest
Red Canyon is right outside of Las Vegas. We like to hike so my wife and I really enjoyed coming here. Beautiful views of the the surrounding mountains. The drive is a long one-way loop that takes you through with different places to stop and explore or just take pictures. One of the first stops you can hike or watch the numerous rock climbers. A lot of hiking trails. We were there in the winter and towards the end of the day the sun sets fast behind the mountains and the temperature drops fast so plan accordingly.
Jassie S.
Great nice drive and a must visit if you're in the Vegas area. It's such a nice drive and quite scenic. There's a couple places to park your car and admire the view. Would highly recommend, even if you're just going to be driving the loop.
Elliot “Welcome Well” schulz
Breathtaking sights! Really awesome views on the scenic drive, we enjoyed meandering through the park at our own pace. There is a large enough paved path to allow others to pass if someone is stopping for photos. If you want to do the visitor center, do so BEFORE the scenic drive as you do not come out at the same point.
Jeremy Ingle
Awesome to stand on the red rocks millions of years old and look down into the whole Vegas Valley. The park has miles and miles of road to drive through and is HUGE. Many many places to climb. Protected natural desert park only $5 to get in on foot. We lyfted there and spent hours was a great nature addition to our trip, but we got stuck out there after dark because of no cell service and the park rangers got us a ride back to Vegas.
Sierra Lake
This place rocks. It was my first desert hiking experience and it blew me away. The diversity of scenery and the intensity of the colors of rock are breath taking. The climbing was great and I can't wait to come back next year!!
David Cooke
Excellent visitor centre, worth a visit if in Vegas.
KJ Sudarshan
It was truly a blissful experience being here. Although Vegas is known for its strips and clubs, this displays a beautiful aspect to the so called 'sin' city, which goes unnoticed by many.
The drive is pleasant. The surroundings are calm and serene. The mountains have a rich red color because of the ferrous oxide deposits beneath them. Calling this place magnificent is an understatement.
Unfortunately, we were here after the sun had set. So the beauty was infa t hidden from us. Despite that it was nothing short of awe.
On my next trip to Vegas, this will be the first place I would visit. Also on the checklist is to go to the Zion National Park and the Grand Canyon
👍

Great place to get out and explore the nature side of Las Vegas. Their 13.1 scenic road that many travelers roam on provide majestic views of the mountain ridges, as well as various stopping points to sit back and see all of Vegas. Plan to be there for a long time to enjoy the whole experience.
Eleodor Sotropa
Very close to Las Vegas, this 13 mile scenic road through Red Rock Canyon take you through the highs and lows of the canyon , with many scenic stops and and trails along the way. Plan for 3-4 hours if you plan to hike a bit, less is just the drive. Best early in the morning, or close to sunset, when the colors are coming out.
Drea Casali
A 13 mile loop takes you through breathtaking scenery, with hikes of various levels and tons of rock climbing! Just make sure not to climb until the rock is dry, a few days after it rains. I've been lucky enough to spot a bighorn sheep, and some mule deer! My favorite hike in summer is icebox canyon, spring is calico tanks, fall is pine creek or any of them!
A Notto
Get out and Hike! A great little reserve that has amazing geologic and fauna diversity. We were able to visit when the desert was in bloom. Could use some improvements in signage as several visitors were unable to find several of the trails (8, 9, 10).
Ria Ria
It's beautiful, a wonderful experience. It started snowing when we were coming down from the hike. We did the Calico Tanks trail. I recommend packing a little picnic to sit down and enjoy the scenery.
Michael Lyman
A beautiful, accessible bit of nature very close to the sights of Las Vegas. Really it's the best part of Vegas. Great for hiking, running, biking, leisurely strolls, or a pleasant afternoon drive. It's definitely worth the entrance fee. But if you want a taste of Red Rocks without the fee, stop at Calico Rocks just before the entrance to the main visitor center for almost as much beauty at no cost.
Dave Nakamura
Best hidden treasure in Las Vegas and it's only twenty minutes away from the strip! Everytime I visit Red Rock Canyon, I find a new trail to hike, I absolutely love it. If you visit during the summer, please remember to go early in the morning to avoid the heat, it won't disappoint. You can visit Red Rock Casino on your way out, and don't forget Downtown Summerlin, it's a great way to see the way locals enjoy Las Vegas!
Mike W
Awesome place to visit with family and kids. Would definitely visit again. Amazing rock formations and unlike the Grand Canyon was very satisfying that you can get up close in a short period of time driving there and walking to the formations from Vegas.
Nicole Herrick
this is a really pretty place! definitely recommend if you're staying in Vegas. if you have an America the Beautiful pass you can get it since this is a national conservation area.
the park offers a 13 mile scenic drive with many stops for picnics, hikes and great views just from the car.
MR. Gonzalez
First time here and Loved it!!! Great Hike with my wife and son, something different for sure and The View of Las Vegas when you reach the top was awesome. Definitely cutting back on cigarettes lol!!
Nitika Gupta
Its a beautiful place ..You can hike and bike. You just have to pay for parking. There is scenic drive route and trust me that drive is a real fun. Amazing place to enjoy with friends and family. You must vist there if you love nature .Loved this place.❤️
Beth McCullough
We loved our short trip here! We wish that we had gotten here earlier in the day so we could hike more trails.
It was $15 to enter (each car load, motorcycles are cheaper). They provide you with a map and brochure at the visitors center. The trail descriptions are very helpful when picking which one you want to try. The estimated time to complete a hike is pretty accurate.
Be careful planning a picnic here. We couldn't find the picnic tables at the visitor center and ended up eating by our car on the sidewalk. Not a huge problem but we had a chipmunk who was very persistent that we share with him. Only problem is you are strictly prohibited from feeding the animals.
Nathan Petitpas
Decent hiking about 30 minutes from the strip, you can’t go wrong. Daily passes are about 15 and a season pass is 30. Additionally you can get a pass for every national park in the US for about 60. They have hikes ranging from beginner to strenuous. Turtle head is my favorite and the steepest hike out here outside of Mt. Wilson. It’s not in the guide but it’s the highest mountain here and more power to you if you want to go off the beaten path.
Christian Egger
It helps that it’s cheap to begin with as far as getting in. The sheer number of options is amazing. Great place just to take a drive, but if you want to hike, boulder hop, or really rock climb, they have all that, too. The whole place is amazingly clean for such a tourism magnet. I could spend every weekend here for a year and not get bored. I personally consider this a pro but be aware that there is little or no cell phone service.
Clare Smalley
Beautiful! We did a tour of Red Rock Canyon with Red Electric Bike Tours, and it's simply stunning. The loop is around 13 miles and the scenery changes at every turn! Highly recommended for a day trip away from the hustle and bustle of the Strip.
Da Mf Wolf
Wow!!!! Real mountains! Lol..I flew in at night and these mountains really snuck up on me 😂 I had to get up there. So buy a locals recommendations I was able to find a safe spot to see the landscape. After a short climb up, either normal or wheelchair access, you can really appreciate the views.....Stay tuned for more good ole fashion American travels casual places and down to earth prices..
Jamaica Mehr
An amazing place for any and all. Highly recommend. This place is up there on our list of favorites. It’s super stunning, the photos don’t do it justice. There’s a beautiful drive, amazing hikes, and unreal climbing. So there really is something for everyone. The hikes are super reasonable. Lots of options for all levels, the same goes for the climbing. Many lower grades as well as harder, trad and sport and multi pitch! There’s great camping nearby, also if you’re just vacationing on the stripe, rent a car and go see this place. It won’t disappoint!
John Kurbiec
Up close and personal experience with the majesty of nature and wildlife. A 10 mile one way journey through magnificent mountain views. Hiking to desert oasis' complete with falling water. Wild life abound from wild birds, mountain sheep, and wild burros. A must see attraction when in the Las Vegas area.

We hear before back in Summer 2012. We like then so we Decided to go back again wow. This time around we had a blast this is 16 mile drive around the park first part ride were you can the lots of Red rock this so cool to see and you are so many trails. to walk on. As you driver around the park you different parks of rocks and trail . When you do go into the park check the Park check out the visitor center they have a great gift shop. If you are in the area check this park out. ...
Matt Ryder
One of the best parks I’ve ever been to!
Sarah Alexander
Red Rock is a stunning national park! The new road is really nice and a lot safer.
Calico tanks is one of my favorite easy hikes as you can vary the difficulty levels based on skillsets of a group and leads to a pretty overlook.
Ross
Scenic drive was beautiful and there were plenty of places for us to park, walk around and take in the beauty. Main road is paved, but some are gravel, so keep that in mind. Great destination to hike or just drive the road winding through the park.
Daniel D
Red Rock Canyon was great! We were only able to to hike two places because Turtle head peak took forever.... Please know if you're out of shape this hike will be hard. The trail is rated difficult and it's a 4.2 mi roundtrip with a 1,988 elevation gain. About 2/3 of the trail is marked fairly well but gets sketchy so take your time! At the very top is about 6,000 ft with a couple of boxes. One box has notebooks to write something like "I made it" or whatever. And the second box is to leave a momento.
Arin Peters
We love coming here when in Vegas. Stunning views and a vast number of great hiking trails. Make sure to being plenty of water if you'll be hiking as even in April temperatures are close to 100°.
Gyorgy Molnar
Just fantastic place to visit from Las Vegas. It took us like 25 minutes to get there and you can take a guided trip too, but you just can drive by yourself and stop in designated parking slots if you want to. So actually you can do the whole teip just sitting in the car, driving slow while looking for the breathtaking panoramic view. But it worth to stop and look more ... also to stretch your legs after sitting in the car. Be aware, if come by passenger car and not an offroad one, better skip the trails and stay on concrete road
Brittney Hiker
I went on a Saturday afternoon, and boy was this place packed. Tourists and Locals seemed to flock to this oasis in the Las Vegas desert. Don't mind the wait or the fee to enter, it will all be worth it. My first time there, we stopped at the Visitors Center to get our barrings and pick up my patch. Ever since starting my quest of 108 hikes, I have collected patches from the different parks and trails where I find magic outside. Because of the heavy crowds, we skipped the more common Calico I & II, and instead opted for White Rock, a 8 mile loop, with beauty and unique formations I hadn't explored in my many years visiting Las Vegas. It was a beautiful trail and the only reason it wasn't 5 stars is because it was so crowded, but believe me, if you are in Vegas and you skip this natural beauty found in the desert, you are missing out on the magic we find on the mountains.
Yulia Zi
🔥 Just 40mins outside of Las Vegas, this is a beautiful place to explore for entry and intermediate outdoors folks: family, dog and wedding pics friendly 🙂
We enjoyed hopping on boulders before the sunset where the rock was “on fire”, beautiful colors and it seems like one can spend hours here.
Good parking, bathroom. Close to the civilization but one could get lost here as well leaving the crowds behind and taking a longer hike.
First stop on 7ish mile scenic drive. Do not miss.
Alex Santos
Beautiful place and geology.
Many trails and climbing options.
You may think for a minute that you're in another planet!Very quiet
A must see if you're visiting Vegas.
Bring water,food and good shoes!
Hiba Rosace
A true Las Vegas gem 💎
Book your reservation ahead of time and rent a car.
Also the only place with cell service/ Wi-Fi is the customer center so make all your plans ahead of time.
Just enjoy the trails pack water!
Have some pure fun 🤩 🌵

Absolutely breathtaking. The canyon lives up to its name. Majestic multi-colors of red, tan and white sandstone and wonderful trails to get you close. A photographers paradise. A must see when visiting Las Vegas
Eugene Branigan
Beautiful canyon, had just been to Bryce, the Grand and Zion. We thought we were canyoned out but wanting to get out if Vegas and we thought we would give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised! The canyon is distinctly different and hold it's own unique beauty and we were very happy that we didn't miss out on it. The staff member at the entrance was very helpful and delightful.
Leslie Brown
Beautiful park only 30 minutes from strip where you can go for hike or scenic drive through. Hikes are beginner intermediate or advanced so something for all ages. My grandson and his dad love it here!
Joseph Hohler III
This place is amazing. Go early and plan to be all day.
Don't forget food and water because there isn't any in the canyon and there's only a one way road going through it. Once you're in, you're in. If you have to leave for anything it's a long drive to get out and to return to where you started. And a long drive to get back in.
Markiyan Samiylenko
Totally forth going here! Plenty of stuff to explore. Sunsets are just gorgeous and stunning here! And the nice thing it's just a couple of minutes from the city.
Canadian Traveller (CanadianTraveller)
Red Rock Canyon is the Vegas you didn't know existed. Step off The Strip and experience nature at its finest in Red Rock Canyon National Park. The pictures don't do it justice, it's very worth the trip out to see the stunning rock formations and desert landscape.
Rebel Campbell
Huge rock formations, beautiful colors, lot's of trails, rock climbing, major photo opps. Bathrooms, shopping at the visitors center.
Victoria Victoria
So beautiful. So serene. Even if you don't like to hike you can do the drive. This is hands down a must stop for me any time I visit Vegas.
Ron Gruber
Great park. Very nice visitors center / gift shop. Plenty of easy to access parking.
Reethu Sadhana
We were in Las Vegas for two days so to pass our time during mornings, we visited this area. Even though we went to Zion national park before this, it was a completely different experience. The Aztec sandstones and limestones were amazing to look at. If you are in Las Vegas and looking to do something other than go to casinos, this is a good option.
Dustin
I definitely recommend if your in Vegas and not into driving for 8 hours in a day to get to the Grand Canyon. I recommend paying the $7 and driving the scenic route around and stopping at all of the lookouts and hiking trails. Make sure you stop at the first parking lot and check it out! By far the best views climbing around all of the rock formations. FYI I did read starting in Feb. 2018 they will be upping the rate to get in to $15 per vehicle.
Dakota Dancy
A beautiful place to visit!
If it is your first time visiting I would suggest you stop the visitors center first! While there decide if you want to hike and or take the 13 mile scenic drive. This way you have a plan. The scenic drive is a one way road. Once you reach the end your visit to the Conservation Area is over.
Ines Schmidt
Make sure you have a reservation in order to be able to do the drive. Many spots to stop along the way or just cruise along and see amazing geology along the road. Follow our adventures @SLYSTRX
Levani S
Endless roads with most beautiful sightseeing-places and views. This canyon looks stunning from every angle. If you are reviewing this post, make sure you check on google map what to see and where to go and mark it on the map as it is quite tricky once you are on the road. I have missed couple nice spots, specially visitor center which gives you detailed information and map (checked it afterwards) for hiking.
James Castillo
Love Red Rock Canyon! Great place to get away from the craziness of the Casinos. My wife and I are not gamblers so once you have seen the lights and architecture Las Vegas starts to get old. It will cost a few bucks to enter, you pay for the vehicle,But worth it. There is an oasis near the end of the park with a waterfall and shallow pool. A little hard to find but worth the trouble and effort. Please note there is no cellphone service in the park. I have At&t and my phone was only useful as a camera. So if you use your phone to navigate there please download the return trip in maps so that you can easily find your way back. Do not use Uber to drive and because she will not be able to contact Uber for a ride out.

Great place to go to get out of Vegas for a day. It's just outside of town to the west. There are a variety of trails to check out, including some cool canyons to get out of the heat on a hot day. The Calico Tanks Trail was one I hiked. You are rewarded with a small pond at the top and a view of Las Vegas. Don't miss the visitor center, and say hi to Mojave Max!

What a gorgeous and rugged place. The color of the rocks is, uh, red, but the shades vary widely. Spent a couple of hours hiking and climbing, providing a stellar view of the surrounding area. Stop first at the visitor center for invaluable information on the geologic formations and the history of the indigenous peoples who roamed these landscapes. Great for a day of biking or hiking. This is a Vegas gem!
