Reviews of Red Rock Campground
Luigi
Nice campground close to the Red Rocks Canyon National Conservation Area. We stayed at the RV area which has 6 sites and is separate from the rest of the campground. The campground is clean. Host's were extremely nice and courteous. There are vault toilets which were extremely clean and didn't stink. There is nowhere to throw out your trash, it has to leave with you. Some sites have an awning over the picnic tables and benches around the fire ring. This is all primitive camping. There is no dump station for RV's. Nice scenery all around.
Jolene Noel
Great camping spot to easy access rock climbing and trails. The staff were kind, helpful and even funny! Each site has a fire pit, grill and covered picnic tables. There are plenty of washrooms - which were always very clean and smelled nice even. The only (very minor) downside was that we couldn't dump our grey water or fill out water tank there, although they do have water for washing and cleaning. Can't wait to come back here next year!

Campground is convenient to Red Rock Canyon and Las Vegas and new. Some very nice sites have a shelter and concrete pad for the picnic table plus benches around the fire pit. All campsites have a designated tent pad area, fire pit and picnic table. Sites are quite well spaced out for the campground size, see google maps aerial view. Group campground available. Very nice camp host. Vegetation is sparse, as you would expect for desert camping. Pit toilets are new, clean but can sometimes be smelled depending on wind direction. 5 stars as long as you are not expecting privacy and solitude.
Nicole Gilbert
We had a great time here! It was very clean and the campground hosts were very nice. I gave a 4 star because the sand to put up our tent was very soft, making it hard to stake it down. Otherwise we really enjoyed it!
Mahi Vr
Got nice support and guidance from Allen. Well maintained campground, we booked site# 84 which was spacious. We enjoyed morning sunshine through the mountains.
Dwayne Hauck
Great Campground for outdoor enthusiasts who don't need all the amenities like showers, plug ins, flush toilets etc. It has the most important thing, Las Vegas Red Rock experience.
Chris Lam
Fantastic campground that is just outside the hustle and bustle of Las Vegas. It is clean, quiet, and the camp sites are well spaced. There is not much shade besides the provided covered shelter over the picnic table. The toilets are pit but are well ventilated and lit. The camp host was super friendly and made checking in super easy. It will be my go to stop on any trips from California to Utah. Great conditions for stargazing / star photography.
I didn't get a chance to do the scenic tour but will do so next time.
Jim Hebert
Very convenient, quite & scenic campground.
Reservation only and books fast.
Jonny Coe
Barb was the best.... Such a sweet person to talk to. A bit light on amenities, but a fantastic place only a stone skip from all the rock climbing.
Kimberly Giardina
This campground exceeded our expectations. We had one of the group sites and loved it. We fit three trailers and a van on the site. We also had a couple people in tents. The amenities are great and everything is well maintained. The camp host was so friendly! We will definitely be back!
Fran Giardina
It was amazing. The bathroom was so clean and didn't even stink. The picnic tables everything about the campground was so clean. And the best part is the view and the hiking great hiking trails. A very fun place to camp and especially if you're a rock climber.
Joseph Lofberg
Great site! The camp hosts were very welcoming and helpful. I’m a beginner level camper and they even helped me figure out how to pitch my troublesome new tent which was very kind of them and likely saved me a ton of trouble and frustration. The bathrooms and paths are clean and well maintained, sites are well marked, and there are even small events throughout the week in the communal campfire circle off the parking lot. Definitely a place I’ll be back to again in the future!
Christopher R. Abbey
Fairly decent campground for the price. I've only stayed in the group campsites. Our group goes out once every fall for a canyoneering trip. The sites are nice as are the pavilions and the bathrooms. The bathrooms in fact are the cleanest I've seen at a campground. They've also sculpted interesting trails that lead out to custom camp sites for your tents which are really nice. And now they have very nice fire rings for groups. They even used cement benches to surround the pit with. My only downside is every time we come here there are parking issues. I'm not sure if they have a limited amount of spaces and permits or what, but it always seems to be an issue. So if you're coming out here with a group, make sure you check on the maximum number of vehicles allowed.
Marsh Jones
Very good campground adjacent to Red Rock Canyon. The campsites are well spaced, numbers 1-25 have shelters over the picnic tables, and there are ample pit toilets. Nice territorial view.
My only quibble is that registration is online only, which requires cell coverage, which requires driving back toward the entrance, and has a $8 'convenience fee' (all recreation.gov camping). There is an Albertsons about 3 miles back down the road, and access to all the restaurants and other amenities.
Francisco Menendez
The Camp Hosts have kept the campground very clean. If you're looking for a quick camping trip I'd suggest this campground. We were also able to view a beautiful sunset.
Todd Snyder
Good campground, always busy during the peak season - very hard to get reservations so book early! Camp hosts are friendly but strict with the rules. Great location for climbing and MTB.
Shilo Englert
The campsite and bathrooms were well maintained. The Walk-To sites had grills (yay!), but fire pits and wood fires are not allowed. I suggest a propane stove or bringing charcoal.
The views were gorgeous, wonderful to wake up to. A cot or pad for your sleeping bag is necessary; the ground is very rocky. Be sure to store your food securely and throw your trash away promptly, as the adorable wildlife will scavenge.
There are great hikes, and a wonderful scenic drive nearby. This is a wonderful place to camp, I'll be hitting it again this season!
Doug Alvarez
Nice campground, but not many activities in the area. Great stars, and nice sunset/sunrise. Could still see the glare from the Vegas lights against the hills through the night.
Ben Verde
pretty and clean but... camp hosts drive around early and make unnecessary noise waking everyone up. also sites are incredibly close together. sorta a bummer total experience
Isaiah Lopez
Nice chill campsite in a great spot surrounded by trails and close to stores. Super clean bathrooms compared to other campgrounds. Just wish they had electric or showers
Mario Capone
Place gets packed during peak times, make sure you get out early to reserve your spot. The slips in the rear of the property provide slightly more privacy. The staff who resided there were super friendly! Great choice if you plan on spending some time at Red Rock Canyon.
Amanda
So close to the red rock area, plenty of hiking around. Bathroom facilities surprisingly clean, and site is well maintained
Sierra Lake
This is a great camp ground. Its clean and well maintained. It's mostly used by climbers and people recreating in Red Rock Canyon so the crowd is super chill and don't get rowdy at night. There are lots of bathrooms and water spigots.
Javier de la torre
Grateful place to camping and have a party on Las Vegas, if you need help contact me, I can provide my service to setup what you need . Just Google "myamigohandyman "
Steve Kuzenski
Nice spot just outside the city. Hiking trails and the entire RR Canyon area to explore if you wish. Online reservation or walk up. Several camp hosts on site right at entrance. No showers, and no cell signal at the campground as its in a low spot blocked by hills. Climb the hill and see the City! Too much light pollution for star gazing but it provides a very safe ambiance.
Rodney Cantwell
Great group campsite. Quiet, no cell service for a one mile radius. Great hiking and mountain bike trails. Limited wildlife. Full moon was almost like twilight all night. Great isolation from the city, BUT..... less than 10 miles from city amenities.
Alayne Tadlock
Climber's Review
Reservation system made it easy to reserve a spot, but will make it harder to take spontaneous trips there.
Campground is very well maintained. Most sites have an awning, picnic table, grill, and fire pit. The pit bathrooms even smelled nice. Whoever is leading the charge to take care of the place is doing a great job.
There are walk in sites for $10 too, I think that is just a parking spot and a field to tent in. There is no extra parking and it's only 2 vehicles per camp site.
Food: Albertsons 5 mins away. Roberto's is the place to go though. Cheap delicious Mexican food with huge portions. Not far from campground.
Showers/Rest Day: UNLV has a pool/hot tub. Day passes available for $10. A perfect way to relax and get a shower in. Bring your own towel and soap/shampoo/conditioner.
Tracy Anderson
Beautiful place, nice camp sites, well maintained. 15 minutes to Las Vegas. Would be nice to have a shower on site though.
Jeremy Brooks
Great camping option in Las Vegas. Quite at night and plenty of fresh water and pit toilets. Only issue being the sites weren't close to being level. Would visit again.
Brigitte Bailey
It has pretty views but no hook ups or dump station for RVs. Would definitely not go when it gets too hot during May or June but would return during colder months.
Elizabeth Russell
Very nice sites and clean vault toilets. Camp host was very friendly as well.
Luke W.
Great place with a friendly host and good neighbors, but getting rained on for 2 days non-stop combined with cold desert nights kinda ruins the experience but from what I can tell worth 5 stars if you want to camp near Las Vegas.
Todd Seibert
Very nice campground, quiet, and great camp hosts! Pet friendly.
George Kuh
Although it was full it was very quiet the scenery is very nice the only thing is there is no asphalt so only gravel so very dusty but still a nice Campground
Rebecca Kent, LVT
This was a beautiful campground, amazingly beautiful area right outside Las Vegas, I definitely recommend visiting and camping here! Great views and beautiful weather in May.
Chan Brig
I'm here for my birthday, bathrooms are shockingly clean, vault toilets, camp sites are decently spaced out and the hosts are amazing people. Quiet hours are respected and everyone is doing their part to keep it beautiful. Trails are easily accessible fire pits and grills are well maintained. Can't wait to come back when it's less windy 😌
Mister Rums
Beautiful place to hang out. A lot of things to do near by. Hiking trail. Bonnie Springs before they it closes it's doors in March. Scenic drive through Redrock and also rock climbing. Wild donkeys and horses.
Joe Phisch
Great spot for camping outside of Vegas. Really kind host and the gates are open through the night.
Daniel Randolph
Beautiful place 20 minutes from Vegas. Pit toilets and no showers. Very quiet. We had a sunrise that is hard to beat.
Nicholas Argiropoulos
Great campground, and very nice, considerate folks managing the campground.
Have Jeep Will Travel
Easy access to water, restrooms, beautiful view, secluded but not remote. Friendly, helpful camphosts, great for star gazing, RV sites, group sites individual sites and easy to navigate.
Milly Paulson
Beautiful so worth taking the scenic route while staying there.
matt fischer
Nice and quiet, down in a bowl so the winds aren't wicked. Classy neighbors as well.
Gary Snelson
Great place to camp no water for an rv so go in ready to fry camp. Great hiking at red rock
M Sanchez
Great place to go and disconnect from the day to day grind. The campground is kept clean by the great camp hosts. There are no showers but there was water and clean restrooms in the tent camping section.Check the weather forecast before going and pack sparingly
Zachary Steele
Pretty great campground depending on what you're looking for. The major advantage if you're looking to enjoy Vegas is how close to everything the campground is. However, if you're trying to enjoy nature, you're probably better off heading to McWilliams campground which is under an hour away. The spacing for the campsites at Red Rock is a little crowded; noise can definitely become an issue. Also was a little disappointed with the lack of view (you can't even really see Red Rock from the campground).
Jeff Kulit
Its was awesome experience with my family. Great site and nice weather. Sure , we are going to come back and creat more memories.
Brian Larson
Great place to stay while visiting the Red Rock Conservation Area. Campground was clean, quiet when it was supposed to be quiet, everything worked, although we didn't understand why half the bathrooms were closed for Covid-19. The staff helpful and friendly. When we wanted to change our reservation they went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. Super awesome!
Lara Exparza
I'm not a huge fan of campgrounds, but this one was nice. Spots seemed a little close to one another, but I think that's pretty standard. Only thing that was irritating, was campers having fires when they are forbidden right now. Seems that someone should have been enforcing this, since most of us followed the rules. Bathrooms were clean.
Doug Longo
Amazing beauty! Located minutes from downtown but yet completely natural untouched landscape. From campgrounds you get success to plenty of climbing and hiking and insane views! 20 dollars per night, some sites have a large metal pavilion nice for shade and in our case rain. All sites have a bbq grill and nice fire pit. Water is available, fire word must be purchased in town. Wonderful experience overall. Don't get there to late on any given day as it seems to usually fill up of close to it.
Tal Idan
Nice and quiet, the toilets are clean but smells really bad.... you can smell it from a distance...
Beautiful at sunrise.
Wendy H
Great little campground so close to home! Now also accepting reservations!! Clean on spots. Clean pit toilets and water spigots. A sand box for your tent. Some have gazebo shades. All have picnic tables and fire pits/BBQs. About $15-$20/night. And right next to good hiking at red Rock canyon!
Wei-Ming Lam
As a campground, this place is really solidly "serviceable." There's what you need: water, pit toilets, drive in campsites... But it's not a very pretty place. It would be nicer if you could see Red Rock at least a little bit from the site.
The real negatives are the prices... $15 a night as of this writing and it's tough to get one when it's busy season.
Holly Gonseth
We used group site D watched the sunset then built fire in fire pit. We were up a little above mist other camp sites great view of red Rock and the canyon between us and them. Lots of campers but noise did not carry up to us. Great experience would highly recommend for actual camping in the Las Vegas area
Tabatha Eggleston
Camping just outside of Red Rocks for $15 a night. Campground was marked as “Full” on Thanksgiving Friday but we still found a spot that had been vacated. The campground is quiet and is typically full of early-to-bed-early-to-rise campers. Lots of bathrooms and several Handicap Accessible campsites. We appreciated that some of the sites had shelters over their picnic tables.
P O
National Park Campground, no reservations, but it looked a little fishy, trailers and campers were in some "saved" areas.
Also, 5 miles an hour is the speed limit, but no one, ( as in Ranger or Camp hosts) enforce it and cars race around all over the place. Restrooms were clean, tables were filthy, did not appear the firepits or tables were ever cleaned.
We will stay again, but not a lot of pride in the upkeep.
Emily Hedrick
Very open, no frills. Campground registration fees cost as much as a walk in site.
Steph Heeley
The only campground option for people wanting to stay in or near Red Rocks.
It is super close to the visitors center and the scenic drive, but it is very busy and we were lucky to get a spot. Its also $20 per night which is on the pricey side of things. But it does have drinking water, which is a plus.
Robby Deal
Nice campground near red rocks and Vegas. Barely had cell signal. Pit toilets. Water available at fill stations. No electric or water hookups. Spots are fairly level with a fire ring, table, and in some spots a covered table.
Robert SILVESTRONE
Great campground. A little bit pricey for campground w/o Any utilities or hookups. I paid $10 /night with senior card. W/O it you would pay $20/ night. But beautiful place to camp.Very quiet, beautiful mountains.
John C
Campground super close to amazing hikes and climbing at Red Rocks and Calico Basin
Meagan Papp
Walk-in sites are SUPER close to eachother. It's like having a sleepover with strangers. Sound travels extremely well; there is no privacy. Lovely location but overpriced as a patch of sand to throw a tent.
Sumara Doescher
My family and I loved how spread out the campsites were. Neat and tidy facilities and uber attentive camp hosts. Plenty to see at Calico Basin and Red Rock Canyon itself. Lots of considerate campers.
Lauren Goeser
Really nice campground right outside Red Rocks. This place has running water (of course) and some of the cleanest campground bathrooms I've seen. Not a lot of shade to be found, but it's the desert that's to be expected. Quiet at night.
Love Dayze
It's great when we got there we was sad to find out we couldn't burn wood or charcoal only propane but it turned out to be really good we had a good time just wish we could have had that real Camp experience with the wood and charcoal the bathrooms are cleaned the camp site was clean the check in people was really nice
Alexandra Brinez
Beautiful view, the camping spaces are very spacious, all the setup for campfire and the shelter is perfect. Definitely a place to stay.
Jay J
I stumbled upon this place by accident. They have definately put some money in this place with nicely done awnings and lighting. Lot's of spots for overnight and day camping but only 6 RV spots and no hook ups.
Brian Johnson
Great Place to stay on a budget in Las Vegas, Near by Grocery and Gas Staions are convenient. No RV dump near by so be wary of that for long stays. Cell service very spotty at sites but a quick drive get 4g lte before hitting the main road.
Carlos Ojeda
It is a great place to camp. They have everything you need at this campground: bathrooms, water, fire pits, grills and a nice sand box for you to place your tent in. Definitely planning on coming back.
Susan Bright
True desert campground with no trees. Overhead shelters, picnic tables, fire rings, vault toilets and potable water available. All sites by reservation only. Recreation.gov
Stefanie Schiller
Good place to stay for climbers and hikers. Mostly tent campers, some vans and small trailers. Camp hosts stay on top of things. Need to make reservations on recreation.gov.
David Wright
So much better than I ever could have expected. The camp host is very friendly and given everything he and his wife need to too, they deserve merit badges at the very least! We will be back!
Luke Hedman
First come first serve spots are 10 dollars a night. Friendly hosts, running water, and pit toilets, but no wood fires when tent camping at the cheap spots.
Sophie Graham
Beautiful views but the ranger in the morning was rude because he couldn’t find our ticket which had fallen.
Daniel Randolph
This is a beautiful remote park that is 20 minutes from the Vegas strip. Every spot seems nice. This has only pit toilets and the cell service is terrible so if either of those is important advise go elsewhere.
James Blades
Lovely view, but the site we were given wasn't IN a space, but alongside it on the gravel road. Site 40. No dump station anywhere close.
Oscar Olea
The campground is just average, however Red Rocks is one of the prime climbing areas in the country and well known all over the world. Unfortunately crowded during climbing season, but where isn't now this days?
Linda Mayo
Nice campground. Open space between sites. Covered picnic tables and fire rings. Only problem is that it's unpaved and dusty.
lynn hoffman
Great hosts and clean quiet campground. Beautiful surroundings.
Alex F.
We stayed at the group camp, it was reasonably priced and the facilities were well maintained. Very close to the park and the services in vegas. No complaints.
Sandy Alvarez
Beautiful, rustic, well-maintained. We LOVE our yearly visit here. So many places nearby to visit. This is our home base.
Nathanial Trebaol Clark
The place is very boring, but there isn't anywhere else one could camp nearby. They have renovated the place nicely, except the gazibos that are giant and a real eyesore.
Jorge Ricardo
Best escape from the city stress near Vegas
MacGomez life style
Its was amazing experience, first time camping. Too bad the moon was up. Can't see a million stars plus its was cold @ night. Its was good experience. The most I love about this place. Restroom was cleaned. Love it 🥰👌 …
Spike Hopkins
Great place but there is no dump station or water to fill up. TV reception is good but Verizon does not work
Eldon Jr. Krosch
Be careful only walk in sites are first come, first serve now. All other sites can and likely need to be reserved online in advance. We found that out the hard way this trip but it worked out.
Amanda Peterson
Crowded, but a good place to camp while visiting Red Rock Canyon. Clean restrooms, water, and little shelters at some sites. Beware the wind, though!
Aimee Goodwin
This campground fills up quickly on holidays or busy event days. There is drinking water, but no shower/washing facilities on site.
Zack novak
Simple and and adequate as a launching point for climbers looking to be as close to Red Rock as possible. Beware of potentially high winds destroying even the strongest of tents
Dallas B.
Place was okay the camp was full of Kahns physically activities being observed and many business opportunities.
Marie Cupo
Convenient camping location if you're there to climb. The trails in the area aren't too far, able to run/hike from the campground.
J H
Kinda small, filled up fast. Has a walk-in camp area to park you car, then walk you tent 20-50yards and then camp.
Pam Rymanowicz
Dry camping only special area for bigger rigs 14 day limit. If disable get your access pass and you only pay half
Robert Ford
Very nice!
Robert Daigler
Close proximity to the scenic loop!
T Cervesa
Well established, good facilities, beautiful area, nice camp spot, popular area so hard to get a campsite
Brianna Bubbly
It's alright. I've been here a few times. It's not my favorite campground around Vegas but it's okay for a quick trip
Josh
It was okay. My site was far away from the regular spots. It was not level, and even my leveling blocks were not enough to make it level
Thomas Jones
It was a beautiful place, lost pictures sorry, I couldn't stay, the govt shutdown on my way there and I didnt have reservations
Tatiana Carroll
I love it 15 min from my house .Get away from city life
Rocky Comberiati
Nice campground and mostly quiet but NO dump station
Jorge Ricardo
Very clean, very close from Las Vegas center. Downside: No cellphone signal on some providers, must be early to get available spaces.
George Toft
It's a nice spot outside of the city. Pretty flat. Not too scenic which is why only 4 stars.
Grateful Rides (Dan Green)
A bit exposed and open, but a great place to camp near Las Vegas.
Derek Seymour
Great campground.
Bert Pauw
Fresh water, clean toilets, shade, shops and of course Red Rock Canyon nearby. Only the view could be better.
Jackson Reynolds
Great campgrounds, sad that it can't be actually next to the red rocks though. And no open flames.
Sharyl Valer
Am considering a stay they book up fast, have not seen or been here
Stacy Ratliff
Nice campground outside of Los Vegas. Doublecheck believe it closes May 29th however.

They gave us an AWESOME tour. We're making reservations for mid-week. VanLifers are welcomed. Thanks again Barb & Dennis!!

I can rate only the dry camping areas. Nice and clean with freindly management. Desert scenery all around with hiking trails. Heard coyotes every morning. I had issues sleeping with the Air Force base planes flying and some nights it sounded like drag racing was going on near-by. Freash air compared to dusty Las Vegas. Real close to the Vegas strip compared to Lake Mead camp grounds. All in all it was a good camp ground.
Bob Vance
Great campground in a magnificent location. Camp hosts were very nice upon check-in. The area is wide open so it can be a little windy at times but having a fire helped on the chilly January nights. Clean toilets as well, but no water or sewer hookups, so come prepared.
No cell signal out here on Verizon, but my Starlink satellite worked perfectly for allowing me to get some work done. You have to make reservations to stay here, so don’t wait till you get here b/c you won’t be able to get online.
So many hiking and mountain biking trails nearby, plus the red rock canyon scenic drive which was worth the $20 (you have to make a reservation though).
Definitely would stay here again!
Kathy Alderfer
Super quiet for sooo many campers in this campground. Beautiful surrounding and super clean restroom.
Caroline Chazal
(Translation) Very close to Las Vegas so very convenient but that's about it. Water and toilets but not very clean and no shower or bins.

Good, small campground near (west) of Las Vegas. Nice hosts. Very clean restrooms. Perfect if you want to sleep in nature the last night before flying home. It takes about 30-40 minutes by car to get to the airport.
