Small but lovely park. Campgrounds were very nice and well kept. The shower houses were maintained well. Lake was small but good for fishing, canoeing, wildlife pictures, and kayaking. Probably would not swim at the beach because the water was not clear enough for my preference. The staff here is extremely friendly and helpful.

Part of my New Years goal is to get one Hike in each of the next 21 days...Starve Hollow was sopping wet but it was good to see the waterline back up again. And I saw two muskrats swimming along the water's edge. Pretty cool little critters.. I'd never seen them before. The trails are pretty well marked but still a little confusing. For me at least🤪 In the summertime, this place has a nice, clean little beach. I love the sights and sounds on a winter's day! Plus there's no gate fee. Yay!

We absolutely love this place. The staff has always been knowledgeable and so friendly, the facilities are well kept and the sites are spacious. This campground also has a reputation for being calm and quiet, and thus far has never let us down. The little lake provides for the whole family. The beach is great on those hot summer days and the lake is perfect for canoeing and kayaking. We make sure that we have a waterfront spot booked at least once a year. If you enjoy camping at state parks or SRA's this place is a must.

We love the park, its beautiful and the bathroom and shower are in walking distance. The bathrooms are clean,and the staff are very friendly. The dog has plenty of places to go potty.

Excellently marked trails. To get to the main trails drive past the park entrance and fish breeding pools to a graveled lot on the left. Don’t forget to check to check out the main park though for the beach area and the cabins. The rugged trail (orange) is straight up for over the first half of a mile. I’d suggest going right at the fork if committed to the hike. Go left if wimping out if the creek is flooded is your style. #IHikedTheFirstDay

This is a beautiful out of the way place to visit and camp at. My friend and I rented a cabin here for our annual hunting trip and it was great. The hunting land was easily accessible and there was plenty of wildlife to see. The topography of the area is very rugged so be prepared for some harder hikes if you’re not experienced. The cabin was also very nice and was very welcoming after a hard day of hunting and hiking.

Very nice, fun, relaxing,fishing was good and enjoyed kayaking. Also, we received help from two ladies that made our camping experience great. Bonita, worked in the gate house and Sierra, worked in the boathouse where they rent a selection of boats, canoes and kayaks.

Quiet park all week till Friday when the park filled up with kids. Enjoyed watching an eagle fish a couple mornings. Bath houses were kept clean and stocked.

We love our annual camping trips here. Very family friendly, kayaks, playgrounds, fishing. The trail was flooded. I hope they can reestablish it soon.

Really a wonderful campground. Many of the sites are literally right on the water. And for those campers who are not on the water, there are at least two boat ramps in the campground. The lake is not huge but it is beautiful and the fish are abundant. We really found only two faults with our camping trip. The girl who checked us in didn't seem terribly eager to check and see which sites were available and instead just wanted to put us on the first site she found empty on the computer. We had never camped here before but from looking online I had a pretty good idea of which sites were on the lake so while she was apparently doing the paperwork to put us on a random site I asked if any sites from 1 to 10 were available and she reluctantly looked and said that site 6 was available, so we took it. The only other thing would be that the site numbers are not easy to find if you are accustomed to having the number on a post at the site as many state parks do. The numbers at Starve Hollow are on the electric service box which is located at the rear of the site. Not a big deal but first-timers could use a heads up. Overall, our new favorite campground!

Wonderful place. Super clean, lots of space, grills and picknick tables were plenty available. Had a wonderful day vacation with friends. Gonna make this a regular spot now for summer getaways.

We love this place. We come every year. It's a peaceful place to enjoy family. Swimming, fishing, hiking, canoeing. There's a lot to do here. Most of the spots are very spacious. We got one this year that didn't have much room. We crammed the canopies in. One is partly in the woods. We will know next time. Everyone is so nice. The bathhouses are always clean. The cabins are great. They have heat, air, bunk beds, a loft. They are very spacious. It's about the same price for a tent/ camper site. Totally worth it!

We rented a cabin and for the price you can't beat it! It's also really nice that you can rent canoes and kayaks here as well. The bathrooms with the showers in them was also surprisingly really clean, but the the other smaller bathrooms not so much. But over all we had a really good time here

Beautiful, spacious campgrounds with plenty to do. Swimming, fishing, boating kayaking, multiple playgrounds. Would love to come back in the fall to see the beautiful trees as a backdrop for the lake.

It was lovely. The view of the lake from our camping spot was amazing. It rained while were were there. It was muddy and we had puddles, but we didn't get terribly flooded. (Electric Spot 67) If I had arrived there while it was raining I don't think I'd be too upset. I've seen muddier! There were plenty of trees. We were able to hang our hammock and lounger in the trees. We weren't as crowded as those who chose to camp on the water. The lake seemed overgrown, and we're not talking about the beautiful lily pads. the Vegetation could be seen on top of the water on some spots. There was better fishing to be had on kayaks and such. Otherwise if you weren't careful, you ended up with a lot of vegetation snagging your line. I think I kayaked about 3 times. That's a record for me on one camping trip. We had great ramp access from within the campground to the water. they had great access for fishing as well. We enjoyed so much of the lake and our campsite that we never made it to the trails. We were bummed that campstore was only open on the weekends, but they had a decent system for people needing the essentials: Ice, bait, and wood. We could always purchase it from the main gate as long as they were open. Controlling the vegetation in the lake and a bit cleaner/nicer comfort station is all I could ask for right now. (The status of the comfort station was at least sufficient)

This is a really nice property with very friendly staff. Property Manger helped me find the beach area. He was very curtious and helpful. Will definitely come back again!! Really enjoyed my labor day weekend there.

Entrance fee $7 in-state and $9out of state. Quiet, several picnic tables, playgrounds and beach. No concession stand, but bath restrooms and changing area available. Campgrounds looked full on Saturday.

Our cabin right on the lake was great! Wonderful weekend, not too noisy. Friendly campers / neighbors. Plenty of shaded areas, looks like a nice beach. Family friendly, well kept. Lake was dirty, muddy from all the rain this area of the state for the month of May and rain even while we stayed. Fishing was, eeehhhh, ok; again, a lot of rain. There are A LOT of turtles! Deepest part of the less than 500 acre lake is about 12ish feet. Great for even kids to boat, canoe, kayak. NO GAS MOTORS makes it even better for those trying to have peace & quite & fish. Thanks for the lovely weekend Starve Hollow DNR!

Just beautiful and well-preserved! There are plenty of activities to do here including beach volleyball, swimming, hiking, fishing, biking, boating, camping, and more. The lake is beautiful at sunset and next time I'm dragging my IU friends here!

It's mostly rv hardly any tent campers. I don't recommend swimming. After 10pm is quiet time and you don't hear a peep. I felt like I was in the retirement campground.. it is beautiful tho ...

GREAT staff and very clean! Sites are very nice. Nature/Forest center activities were wonderful too!!! Only thing keeping me from 5 stars - outdated/small play areas in the camping loops. One slide, one baby swing and one child swing... Need more to keep kids entertained without having to send them way over to the beach area that has two very good playgrounds for kids.

This is a great place to do some camping, hiking, or just for a day of picnicking on the beach. There's canoes to rent as well. My favorite time to visit is in the fall, with the lake surrounded by hills with flaming colors.

Fantastic. Beautiful drive there also. Campground well laid out, lots of open space but also adequate shade. Lake is lovely but weedy. Great beach, fishing, boat rental, playgrounds, clean baths/bathrooms, horseshoes, confession, nature building. Trails it seems often flooded and marking needs updated (though only did easy trail #1). Would sure return.

Apparently, this place is dedicated to campers. Upon arriving, we were informed that the camping was at capacity. We had heard about this place because someone had been there. We only wanted to have picnic and then drive around to look at the place. The trees. The beauty. No! There is no drive around. You can't check out anything. We ate. Sat for a bit. Then left. Unless you're camper, it's not for you. There is a "sandy", meaning muddy "beach" for those who want to play in the lake later in the summer. They need a LOT more picnic tables.

I loved our beautiful view and overall the park was gorgeous. It missed a star because the shower facility was not handicap friendly. The handicap stall had no seating available, door for entry was not easily accessible for someone with walking devices, and I was told I wasn't allowed to park my vehicle near the shower facility even though I had placards. The camp host recommended that I used a smaller stall that had seating, however the water didn't come out well at all and there wasn't enough room for movement so that wasn't an option. Again, the camp was beautiful, the beach was clean, and boat rental was easy also. The kids had fun with the park equipment too. Had a wonderful time overall with our stay. Recommend, just prepare if you have a disability.

Beautiful, peaceful, scenic, quiet... Did I mention peaceful? Lol. We love it here. We camp there every summer and some days go just to kayak around the lake for couple hours. The shower houses in the camp ground are always very nice and clean. Beach is always clean. Just a great little place

Really nice place to camp. Wouldn't recommend swimming in the lake as it does have some algae issues with seaweed. A few playgrounds for the kids. The camp store is a small shed with a few items for those last minute forgets you might have. But other then that it's a peaceful place to bring your camper. It also has boat rentals and kayak rentals. And a place to clean your fish.

Beach and playground within short easy bike ride from campground and with two young kids this was nice. Also enjoyed the blooming lily pads in the lake. Very weedy this year as COVID shutdown prevented the lake from being sprayed for weeds. Made for a good 3 day weekend. Campground well kept and comfort stations are clean. Fire rings were present though a little tilted or burnt out. Plenty of picnic tables per site...we only used one of our three.

Wouldn't recommend for fishing there are plenty of fish just the bite isn't that good in it anymore. But it does have a nice campground and a couple hiking trails alone with a nice boat ramp and a swimming area. Also has 4 docks from the swimming area. Overall it's a pretty good place for picnics.

Wow this place is so awesome. We had a spot right on the water. Beautiful views during sunrise. Next time we will book a site closer to the beautiful beach. This is one of the few parks that allowed me to go roller blading due to the smooth roads/paths. (Old habits) I will be coming back this year. One of my new top 5 favorite places to camp.

Nice campground. We were right on the water. Our campsite was 31 and had a large tree right where our camper awning should have came out, we had to move our camper half off the spot its suppose to be in just to be able to open it.

Would have been a solid 4.5 stars had the lake been nicer. We stayed in Site 206, which is full hookup. The site is HUGE. Tons of room to spread out! It's a pad and easy to back in. Hookups were great. The grounds were well-maintained. Paved roads were nice and smooth for bike rides, scooters, hoverboards, etc. The park isn't large so I felt safe letting my kids roam without me. Locating them was a quick bike ride , plus walkies reached through almost the whole camp. There were playgrounds throughout the park; one even has old school teeter-totters! Tons of spaces for kids to play. We had several issues with our new camper, and the camp host came to our rescue. What an awesome person to have on site!! He spot welded a bolt, loaned us pipe tape, and let us borrow a ladder. Very friendly and a life-saver, really! T-mobile service was decent; however I was able to use free public WiFi! Didn't shower, but did use the bathroom once. It was decent. The trails were too muddy, so we didn't try those out. The lake was a huge bummer. So gross. Tons of weeds and muck. I hated swimming in it, but we made the best of it. Kayaking to the floating trees was cool, but getting there was difficult through the weeds and algae. I also picked up a leech.🤮 I'm not for using chemicals on nature, but it really should be treated. We were also lucky enough to see a broad-headed skink! My kids made tons of new friends. We'd consider the long drive to visit again!

This is my favorite state park camp ground! They sites are nice. They always have something for kids to do. The beach is clean and easy to get to. There are picnic tables and shade trees near the beach and playgrounds. Access to the lake is easy. They have boat rentals that are reasonably priced.

5 stars just for the beach. Didn't go into the park more but will definitely be looking into camping one weekend out there. Has a volleyball net, tons of picnic tables, plenty of shade. Even if it were a bit more crowded I think it wouldn't have been bad. Maybe needs another dumpster, it's a bit of a walk but also can stop on the way out. Very relaxing day.

Love Starve-Hillow ❤ Nice sites, clean and updated shower houses, the employees are the BEST alway friendly and ready to help you with any situation that might come up. Alway clean sites. The only negative thing I have to say is that the lake needs to be cleaned really bad, they need to get all that stuff (grass or what ever it is) out of there.

We spend a lot of time here! Not to many places you can camp right on the lake! They always have activities going on. U can swim, fish, kayak ,Jon Boat, there is play grounds, hike, ride bikes. They have a little boat house to rent boats and have bait and snacks! It's very clean and family oriented! Best place to spend the day swimming or over night camping! The camp sites are nice size and shades in most areas! The have just electic hook up witch is on the lake and close to it or they have water/electric sites that are farther away from the lake but all in walking distance of the lake! We are there now

Beautiful area, with a lot of parking and picnic tables -- the beach and lake are great, and there are several options for recreation (including reasonably priced kayak/canoe rentals). I've found that there is a fair amount of mosquitos near the lake itself, but that's to be expected. 👍 …

Very nice State Park nestled in the Hoosier Hills about an hour from Louisville and 1.5 hours from Indy. The fishing seems to be improving every year since the lake was restocked. Panfish through the ice was very good this winter. The campgrounds are clean and well kept. There is a relatively large swimming beach. Overall this is a great place to bring the kids to camp, fish or just visit in South-central Indiana.

Love this place. It's the best if you can get a spot on the water. Beautiful small lake & lots of shade trees in the camping area. Bring your non motorized boat canoe/cayak or rent one either way you and any kids you may have will enjoy exploring the lake and catching a few fish at the same time.

Large lake is peaceful and beautiful. Easy boat dock for disabled. Friendly and helpful park workers. Neighboring landowners have a relaxed, laid back "lake attitude"; always ready with a smile and a wave. Fishing is FINE. Trolling motors only.

Very nice place to camp. We rented a cabin and was happy with it, I only wished there was a small bathroom. When you wake up in the middle of the night and have to use the bathroom it's not fun to have to get out and walk to a nearby bathroom.

Had a wonderful experience at Starve Hollow State Park. A lot of things to do here. The trails are in due shape of repair. The lake has alot of seaweed but we have had alot of rain this spring. The lake is normally not like that though.

Starve-Hollow is a nice place to camp and play, especially with small children. With a sandy beach for swimming and multiple playgrounds, the kids never lack for something to do. We loved having our tent right next to the water. The shower experience was sub par, but overall this is a very nice place for a family getaway.

Rally good smaller park. Nice for a weekend getaway. Beware though that if you rent a canoe or a flat boat they are metal and if it is sunny out they will get very hot. Best to take some cushions if you plan to rent a boat
