Reviews of Prophetstown State Park

This park exceeded my expectations! I will be back in the summer as there are a variety of fun family things to do. The Hiking is great as well! You have 2 options: you can stick to the miles of paved trails and a nice boardwalk through the prairie marsh or you can go on more rugged trails. Most of trails 1 and 2 are easy (a few wet spots in the grassy areas near the marsh). It’s a mix of hardwoods, open prairie and near beautiful streams and ponds. As you walk through the tall prairie grass, you can almost connect to the native Americans that called this place home. Note that trails 3 and 4 have more elevation changes and are easily susceptible to flooding (see pics attached). Be prepared for mud in those areas.

This is a new find for us during our 5years stay in Indianapolis and when we are almost out of options as a new park visit in and around Indianapolis. And what a find. The trails are amazing. Grass land is choke full of flora and fauna. Great wild life. Nice fishing lakes and playground area. Superb picnic spots. It's not as big as other state parks, but small wonder. Best experience is to visit the farm and to experience the village life full of farm animals.

What a breathtaking experience at one of my favorite places in the whole world. Prophetstown State Park has been well worn by the tread of my boots and well documented through the lens
of my camera. I have a special place in my heart for the memories I've had here during my time at Purdue, and owe my love for nature to the
accessibility of the park systems in the state of Indiana. Prophetstown was the first place I'd ever been where the wild felt like home. I've started countless friendships and strengthened bonds under the sun and stars on these plains. I hope everyone has a found there own place like this, and I hope you take yourself back there often. I cannot recommend this park enough.

A.beautiful park with a working farm to enjoy. Wide, paved bike paths through a prairie of wild flowers. Full hook up campground with large private spots. An amazing wooden playground. Just loved it here.
Kayla G
While this park does have its perks (unique but dark history, plant species, and animals - including beavers!), the trails are not quite as interesting as some parks within an hours drive (Shades State Park, Turkey Run, or even Celery Bog). Some trails may be closed off, depending on the time of year when you go. I would recommend the park more in spring or fall!
Tessa X
I love the open grassland trails. I walked trails 1 and 2. The pond on trail 2 was lovely and they have benches set up by it. Would be great place for a picnic.

We loved this place. Very roomy, quiet and really great hands on history visiting the town/museum. Definitely a neat place for a day or two visit!
Cory Rubusch
Amazing views, The campsites were well groomed and the showers were hot and clean! Overall a 10 outa 10 park. The farm is a great touch nice for our family to freely walk around the farm and check everyhting out.

The cleanest Campground I've been in Indiana, very nice place to visit. Lots and lots of trails for biking walking and rollerblading

The property is beautiful! Great park for everyone, many paved trails, even great for wheelchairs.
Howie
The park has small lakes or ponds. It also has a couple of trails. Its terrain is too flat, without too many natrual attractions.
Beverly K
Nice small park very close to West Lafayette. The park offers a variety of things to see including a farm with animals, two furnished 100 year vintage houses, out buildings, blacksmith, Indian village, a rock circle, and nature and bike trails lined with scarecrows.
Chris Livengood
I had some time to work on my IN DNR Nature Passport and this park was in my vicinity. I was very excited I decided to come here! This park is terrific!
Indiana has some wonderful State Parks all of which have wooded trails that somewhat look identical in many ways. However, the trails here are brilliant and fresh! You get to walk through prairies that would resemble what the explorers walked through before the state was settled. Actually, these trails are even better; they are mowed! Where else could you go and hike barefoot on marked, mowed, grass trails? There are so many sights, sounds, smells, and experiences here.
Furthermore, there is a working historical farm to tour, a replica of an early settlement village, paved bike trails, a fishing pond, and a very nice and modern aquatic center. This is unlike any other state park I’ve been to in the state and is currently my favorite!
Lance Lape
Am expansive park with ample full hook up camp sites. There are several walking, hiking and biking trails. There is a just right sized water park on the property as well. Definitely a nice weekend getaway to the plains off Indiana and the shores of the Wabash river.
Nathan Way
A wonderful state park with so much to do! Our favorite relaxation spot for easy weekends camping. Our 30ft travel trailer is easily manuverable throughout the campground. The hiking and biking trails are plentiful and well kept. There's even a small fishing pond on the east side where I've spent many days casting a line. Newer restroom facilities, pavilions, and playgrounds are scattered within the campground and park also. Definitely would recommend!
Jenny Earlywine
Our favorite state park!!
Trails for hiking, and biking.
Fall always brings the Trail of Scarecrows!
David Riggleman
It's a very different park than what I would consider most state parks, which often center around forests or lakes. Here, most of the terrain is through the prairie, although there our some nice trails closer to the river. There is a working farm with educational exhibits, although I have not personally checked it out. And from just driving by, I wasn't a huge fan of the campground, which looked to be sites that are fully exposed to the sun for the most part with less trees than I'm normally accustomed to. Nevertheless, everything was very clean while I was there and would still encourage checking out this park to get a unique feel for a different type of ecosystem than you might normally be used to.

This is one of my favorite parks in the state. Absolutely gorgeous paved bike path that goes through my favorite large, meadow section with so. many. wildflowers in the summer. The farm is so beautiful and enchanting. The history of the Prophet is interesting and really gets you thinking about American history in new ways. This park has something for everyone and is truly stunning.
Mat Sull
Great park. 5 miles of paved bike trails. Well designed campground. Either shaded or sunny spots. Full hook ups or water/electric. One of the nicest we have seen in six states.
Theresa Sowinski
Beautifully maintained park, great variety of activities, lovely waterpark. Visitor center is wonderful too!!
Madeline Roberts
Nice park and clean facilities. It’s a good example of Indiana’s natural prairie, and it provides some historical information of the area. There’s a nice path for biking and a few short trails. However, if you’re not local, it’s probably not worth the drive. It does have some lovely wildflowers in the spring though!

So this was one of those hidden finds. Wife and I were looking for something for the kids to do while we were on a road trip. Found this and we were pleasantly surprised! Lots to do here from camping, hiking, biking, two large kids play areas, picnics, water park, and a cute farm with many farm animals to see and pet. Just bring sunscreen there are walking and biking trails but very little shaded areas. FYI 10$ to get in if your out of state but we thought it was worth it, plus your supporting the upkeep of the state park.
Teresa D.
Beautiful State Park and campground. We’ve been here 3 times in the past year and we love it. The farm is a great place to visit, the campground is clean and spacious and very well kept, the trails are abundant with native plants, spectacular views and wildlife. We saw a bald eagle our past visit down by the Wabash River.
R. U. Lost 2
I love the expansive views and the water features that only add to the scenic beauty of this park. There is also a paved path running through the park that makes much of it very accessible. I didn’t venture much beyond the pond today due to the cooler temperatures and the fact that more clouds were rolling in but can definitely see myself coming back and exploring it further. I also spent several minutes talking with the staff in the visitors center and would be amiss if I didn’t point out how helpful, friendly, and informative they were.
PH Chen
This is a state park, big and flat, great place for cycling in any season.
Rachel Taylor
The whole area was beautiful. The circle of rocks was a really cool attraction. I will definitely revisit the park again when it doesn't snow in April lol!
Christopher S
First Time at Prophetstown State Park, and it was Awesome! Finished the 15km Trail Run Race Series by dinoseries.com DINO! I plan on returning to visit the Native American village. The single track trails were Fun to Run! 🦖 …
Terrence Jent
Prophetstown is one of the newest Indiana State parks. One of the nicest campgrounds in the state as well. Sites are level and spacious. Also, there is an entire loop that offers full hookups! The park itself is stunningly beautiful. I also think the natural environment at Prophetstown helps with bugs. We used no sprays or deterrents the entire time we were there! Made it to Turkey Run the same week and the bugs were inescapable. We have young kids so a selling point to Prophetstown is the aquatic center. $5 per person for a very clean and fun water area. They have a few slides, a lazy river and a large basketball pool. Prophetstown also has a living history farm that's fully operational, a nice stocked fishing pond and the best bike trails in the state. Highly recommend this park!
steven english
Very nice place to camp. Very nice sites for the rv, generally smooth and level pads. Great paved bike and walking trail. Unfortunately so nice, it's Always full.
Kayla Webb
Beautiful park. Upkept well. Both paved trails perfect for families with mobility aids, strollers or bikes. Hiking trails also available with beautiful views.
Jay Miller
Many nice sites. Plenty of room between sites with trees or bushes to separate. And there was nice open space behind us. The dual fresh water stations, separate from the dump station, was very convenient, clean and well maintained.
Meredith De Salva-Gaffney
The walking paths are great. There are seasonal things to do there like swimming in the summer and voting for scarecrows in the fall. There are camping areas as well.
Marty McMann
This place has a lot going for it. Pretty unique with the open fields that seem to stretch for miles. The native american village gives you a really good idea how they lived back in their day. I enjoyed the hike through the fields and into the wetlands area.
Nichole Courtney
My husband, stepson and I decided to visit Prophetstown on a whim, and it was extremely fun! We enjoyed seeing the animals around the 1920's farm, and getting to see a blacksmith working on a fork. There are tons of trails for walking/biking, areas for camping and picnics, and the scenery is just gorgeous. We will definitely be going back!
Janice Haan
One of the nicest state parks we have ever camped in. Big Halloween trick or treating going on tonight. Reservations need to be made at least six months in advance for weekend camping.
Samantha Easto
Love this place, I walk my dog here. There's so much to do here and it's incredibly well maintained.
Trever Dunica
Great, clean park. Bring your bikes to enjoy the flat prarie trails. Campground was quiet and well kept. They had very nice playground equipment for the children
Grace C
My six year old son and I went on the scarecrow trail last week and thoroughly enjoyed it. This week, we attended a class with our homeschool coop on Wildlife at Prophetstown. The kids were engaged the whole time and it was very well done. The classes are very affordable and we'll worth it. The playground is also great.
Jennifer Baughman
The park is gorgeous. Lots of open space. The farm is really cool to walk around. I wish the paths were easier to find and labeled better.
christie griffin
Wonderful way to spend an afternoon. The working farm was a great look back at history, complete with a farmhouse, livestock & blacksmith shop.Beautiful grounds with trails, picnic areas & even a small waterpark. The Circle of Stones is a must see.
Nicholas Hyer (K9XN)
Very nice park! Great trails and areas for camping and exploring.
Kelly K
Most relaxing environment, awesome well maintained trails for walking or riding, clean facilities, large camp sites semi private/private dependig on which end you're on, ee will make tbis a return trip yearly.
Marlene Dougherty
Lots of activities here in various areas from the farmhouse to the Aquatic Center to picnic and playground areas and biking/walking paths through nature itself. $8 per car to go through the gate and most areas to explore are free but it is $5 a person over age 3 to get in the Aquatic Center even if you aren't going in the water. Don't worry, you can get your hand stamped if you have to leave the building so you don't have to pay again when you come back in that day.
Ashish G
Amazing place. The park as a good paved bike trail with an awesome view of the prairie.
Lori Hulett
This park has great camping sites, beautiful walking/biking/hiking trails. The water park is wonderful! The only thing I missed was a laundry facility on site. We had a great time and have recommended this park to many people. This picture was taken on the bike trail.
E Stern
Had a great time hiking through woods and prairie. The frogs were singing and we saw lots of cool wildlife. Hope to get out here again soon!
Suzanne Summa (60's Offspring)
Such a peaceful place to stop and rest. Loved watching the fireflies on the Prairie. Clean showers and Facilities oh, and nice private spaces for campsites.
Jianfen Chen
Awesome park! Free during winter break! We had a wonderful afternoon in the 1920 farm and saw the beautiful swans in the fish pond.
Jeanie Wiesler
Beautiful day on the prairie, cool with many milkweed, black-eyed Susans, Purple coneflower, Queen -of-the-Prairie, Eupatorium, yellow coneflower, wild sienna, compass plant, and other flowers.
Angela Fiebelkorn
I enjoyed reading about the history of the area. The park has lots of picnic and camping. Great bike trails. My favourite part was the store and historical information.
Jacob Budreau
A great local state park right outside of Lafayette. It a has good sized campground and pool. It also has a great pioneer village you can walk around and check out. The trails aren't the most rugged but they are nice for a easy stroll threw nature.
Joanna Wheeler
Beautiful and peaceful! Park Rangers were kind and helpful. We just went to enjoy the evening and capture some pictures and memories.
Yer Mooom
We spend a lot of time here on the trails and playgrounds. There are paved trails for biking, rollerblading, etc, and some not paved so you can walk through nature near water. It's a good way to spend a couple of hours. It's still basically a prairie, with new trees planted near the campground. May have more shade in a few years. The water park is nice. Have a hard time understanding the logic behind a huge water feature, yet no where to actually swim, in the heat and humidity of an Indiana summer. Still a decent and clean state park.
Paul Harrington IV
Great campground with full hook up sites. Bathhouse is very clean. Especially loved the 2 Sears and Roebuck houses that you are free to roam around. Trail three needs work on water crossings but still loads of fun. This park also a great kid and parent friendly playground.
Josmon George
Good park. Would have preferred some trails through the woods with more shade. The history house and farm is cool.
John Peters
Great place to stay. Great campsite level and very clean. The shower and bathroom facility very clean. Lots of places to visit in the area. Wolf Park is one of them.
Lexi Jones
Beautiful prairie park. Lots of trails and lots of history. They have a big aquatic center and camping available too.
Denise Hileman
This state park is awesome! The farm, the walking/bike trail. The interpretive programs, the employees and volunteers. The cleanliness of the park! If you've never been there, please go!! The water park. Oodles of things to see and do!!
John H. Nye
Best state campground with full hookups and pull through spots. Great landscaping and layout. Ranger check in went quickly with friendly staff. Fantastic bike trail throughout the park. Spectacular sweeping views of the Wabash River with forest and prairies.
Curtis McLay
Class A 26' motorhome. Greeted at front gate and very helpful as it is our first visit. Site easy to find, well marked and graded flat! All lots are gravel, wide and did I say flat? They must have had Purdue engineering grads working over time on this place! Amazing amount of space on both sides of the rig for the awning and slide out. Neighbors were some distance with tall trees separating spaces.
Super clean, well maintained shower house and bathrooms.
Hike for miles on well groomed trails. Even though nothing rough on trails 1 and 2, prepare for Ticks, Ticks and then maybe more Ticks!
Prasad Nair
It's a lovely state park. Some trails are only partially shaded, with a lot of the trail passing through prairies. So do check the weather before taking the trail on a hot day.
Wright Frazier
Went out to visit some friends staying there. It was a lot of fun. Great views, super friendly staff.
Be warned there is a cover charge to enter, even at night when there is literally nothing to do but visit some friends at their RV.
Beth Shire
Large camping sites. We reserved pull thru site with E/W/S and I'd say it's the largest site we've ever had. Only 1 bathhouse in campground with flush toilets and showers but easy to get to 😀Extra long picnic table. Haven't even tried the aquatic center fun yet but plan to tomorrow. …
June Foster
Relaxing place to visit! Prairies, woods, fishing pond, playgrounds, waterpark and a 1920's farm from which you can buy meat, eggs, produce.
Ryan Miller
Great park/campground for families. Awesome Waterpark and playgrounds for the kids. We only stayed one night but will definitely stay there again if we're ever in the area and there's availability. Highly sought after apparently so we feel fortunate we got a spot on our trip from MN to TN.
Margaret Nunez
So well cared for and a fun step back in time. The staff was major friendly and knowledable. Rainy drizzly day out when we went but still so enjoyable. Animals receptive and healthy
Anuj Ashok
Love this place. Good for family picnic camping and fishing. Fishing is catch and release only.
D
Well designed, and really good shape, made a lot of good use of the prairie environment with trails and woods and exhibits. Clean, reasonably priced, a great place to stay
Michael Ibanez
Really scenic and vast. A nice break in between Chicago and Indianapolis.
Nicole D
One of our favourite places in Indiana. Campground is awesome and biking and walking all over the park is great. The Native American Village is cool too.
saikat mukherjee
Good place in Lafayette for small hikes in the evening. The hikes are small and very easy. The surroundings are quite serene.
Amanda McInerney
We really enjoy coming to this park and campground but our first trip out this year we were very disappointed with the firewood. $5 for a bundle with only 4 small pieces and it was all covered in mold.
Philip McCutchen
I'm almost afraid to write a review, because I can't wait to go back, and want to be able to make reservations without it being full! Of all of the many state RV camping parks I've been to (a lot), this is, in my opinion, the finest ever. It's off the beaten trail, very expansive, lots to do (hike, bike, water park, working farm, etc.), terrific widely-spaced sites with full hook-ups, friendly folk. No WiFi, but who cares here? You can really kick back and relax here!
Aaron Zimmerman
I really enjoyed hiking to the end of trail 4. The weather was cooperative and the scenery was spectacular!
patrick K
Good presentation, lots of history and knowledgeable staff.
Kevin Lichterman
This is one of the best state parks in the area. Full camper hookups, great biking paths, lots of things for kids to do, and always a ton of fun.
Larry Weaver
Great place to camp!! Don't forget the bikes!! This place has great bike trails.
Heather Bacula
Camped here and loved it. Great paths, campground was quiet and sites were larger and nice. There is a pool but it was closed for the season.
Don Kudrak
This is one of the most plain state parks I've seen, but it's still nice. Went out to fly my new drone and it was great. Such wide open space and not too many people around. Can't really complain. Had a great day.
Melodie Staley
Wonderful place to camp. Great sites with many that have full hook ups. Good playground, bikes trails and water park. Very nice. And a farm to visit.
Kathryn Moor
Nice, clean state park. Large campsites. Activities for everyone.
Mark Adams
A lovely and well maintained collection of Prarie and riverside trails with deep Indigenous and European pioneer history.
Ian Pappas
Excellent experience on my brothers birthday. Grilled out on one of their many grilling stations, saw the animals, and went fishing. I look forward to going back and hiking.
David Huang
I like the trail 3 the most.Half part of it is on the hill. There are so many green trees, veins, leaves and birds. The temperature is a little lower than the outside under the sun.A little part of the trail 3 is flooded(in picture 5)
Today I forgot wearing my hat and using sunblock. How stupid I am.The sun is very strong at 3pm!
Anna Lepper
The farm was a great place to take my niece and nephew while being socially distant. The various fowl were very used to people and the park has several nice playgrounds.
Brittanie Spraker
Clean level campsite. Farm was fun and hands on for the kids. Lots of room for them to run around. Great clean playgrounds and quiet.
Daniel Hahn
The water park was great . Wish the green waterside would have been open. One older park ranger had a major attitude on more than one occasion(not with us but was witnessed by us).
Rich KR
Good State Park for relax , for short Hiking. Despite the toll for driving entry, it is worth driving in and really relax. I recommend.
Chris Garretson
We've been coming here for 14 years and love it each time. Bring the dogs and walk on trail 3.
Kevin Cantrell
Really nice clean campground. Plenty to do in the area as well. They could be more organized however. The first gatehouse had no knowledge of our reservations, so they sent us to the 2nd one, and nobody was even in there at first. don’t show up a little before your check in time even if your site is clear, cuz they will tell you to leave the property and go to the nearest Walmart. No hospitalality whatsoever. Whoever the short haired lady at the second gatehouse had no customer service skills whatsoever. I understand they have policies to follow and that’s fine but her attitude was deplorable the whole time. Most places make you feel welcomed to camp with them and they’re happy your there. And unfortunately I just felt like I was a pest to them despite my minor mistake, and they wanted nothing to do with us. All the workers were great, one lady had a little attitude but the short haired lady was telling her what to say through the walkie. It was pouring down rain and I feel like we got off to a bad start but after all this mess the stay was enjoyable overall. Hopefully our next stay here goes much smoother should we decide to come back.
Jo Higgins
Lots of refreshing fun!
The slides are great, and plenty of fun for the little ones as well in the kiddie pools.
Christina Thomas
Awesome park! There is a campground, water park, playgrounds, restrooms and trails.
Chet Ripkey
This park had a little bit for everyone. We spent the most time touring the 1920's modeled farm and then hiked the prairie trail to the native american village. It was very peaceful and our young family of 5 enjoyed all of it!
Ian Brown
Clean, spacious, pet-friendly park. Great option if you live in the local area but it’s not worth a long road trip. If you live 1hr+ away, there are most likely better alternatives closer to you (if you are South - Fort Harrison, Brown County). There are various trails that are partly open field, partly wooded (all very easy) and a single, long, paved trail. Great for running or to get your dog some exercise. There is camping as well but I can’t speak to the quality of the campgrounds.
Rita Wells
A great place for kids to learn about farm life.
Up close and personal chickens and turkeys, check the nest for eggs.
Becky Luca
We love camping at Profetsown State Park. It is well maintained and they always have something going on. Plenty of hiking and biking trails.
Angie Thomas
I loved this park. It is very clean. The staff was really nice. I really like the trail of scarecrows they had for Halloween. Very cute idea. The Indian area was interesting and I enjoyed the farmhouse. Highly recommend for a family outing. The aquatic center looks fun. I would like to return in the Summer to go try the water slide and pool.
Valerie Perry
One of our favorite state parks. The bike trails are our favorite and great for all ages! The park in the campground kept my 10 yr old entertained for hours. We all loved the history of the park with the Native American village and the Farm Homestead. We can't wait to go back.
Ray Bowling
We bought our first trailer / camper a few weekends ago. We decided to go to Prophetstown State Park for our first family outing. We have been there a few times in a tent but never a trailer / camper. We got to the park and the lady at the entrance was very nice. We got to our site and it was very easy to back our 35' trailer into. The park is very nice and has the best playgrounds for the kiddos. We can't wait to go back. One of our favorite parks to camp.
Jackie Weaver
We have camped here numerous times. Always enjoy the experience. The campsites are semi private, clean and level. The bath house is very clean. The showers are roomy. Lots of fin things to do. There is an aquatic center to keep kids busy. Also bike pain paths and play grounds.
Carey Flatter
Very clean park. Aquatic center was very nice. Life guards seem to enjoy their jobs which makes for a very friendly environment. We will return.
Nick Corduan
The farm is fun and historically interesting. The animals there are well cared for and the staff are obviously invested in them. There are signs on the roadways, but the signage is more hit or miss at the actual trails and paths. The "woodland Indian village" is okay, but it looks like it's seen better days. The bike path dominates the visual and we had to hunt for other trails other than the one near the farm. Probably we just misses signage. Some of those trails are enjoyable, though, and worth finding. Warning: this is very much a prairie-oriented park and there isn't a lot of tree cover. If you visit in the summer, plan to protect yourself from the sun.
Amy Quinn
Wonderful step back in time! My kids LOVED the farmhouse and seeing how simple life was back then. The kitchen and the old tools inspired a lot of questions 😂 …
Carrie May
It was very nice and clean. The public restrooms were very clean and stocked. The public pool was very fun to enjoy. They have a lazy river in the pool area a long with a couple water slides. They barn yard has a variety of animals that they take care for all though out the year. They also book classes, like how to make your own soap and things like that. It is a very fun place to visit and camp also. They even have a campground area if you would like to stay for a while or just for a night.
Melissa Franklin
12th Annual Trail of Scarecrows! Head on over and see Safety Steve!
Christine Weisgarber
There are so many wonderful things about this park. Very clean bathrooms/showers. Campsites have great gravel pads that drain well if it rains. Beautiful prairies. The water park is great!
My only recommendation would be about ticks. It's no fault of the park but it should be better posted. Bring bug spray, the more Deet the better. We found ticks on us not just around the bushes and grass but at the water park after walking in grass by pool. The best thing you can do is stay alert and be smart.
We will definitely be back!!!
Cheryl R.
Amazing campgrounds with great activities in and around the park! Second time going here and no regrets!
Michael Gulley
Great campground. Easy in spots. Activities to keep busy. .
Dan G
One of our favorite state parks in Indiana! Kids love the aquatic center (aka mini water park) in the summer and the campground and playground areas are very nice. The trails are mostly flat and easy. There is even a working farm and historical building to check out. If paved areas are perfect to stretch your legs on or bike on.
Only gripes if I had to really try hard to think of any are that the campground seems understaffed. Unlike some other state parks, you rarely see DNR driving through here. Often times the camp check in is done at the main gate as there is not enough staff to go around.
The proximity to Lafayette and West Lafayette make it super convenient as well. Feel like sitting down in a restaurant and not cooking? No problem. Options galore within 10-20 mins of driving.
Matthew Harman
Great pool for a reasonable price. Lots of bike trails. Campground was very well maintained.
Cheryl Shore
We had been to the water park here years ago, but this park has so much more to offer. Trails through prairie and woods. Campground looks new and well constructed. We'll be back. May even try cross country skiing there this winter.
Alex Bond
This is a nice state park. There are scenic trails and playgrounds. There is a campground, farm, and waterpark (I haven't been to those, so I cannot say much about them). There's even a ring of rocks memorializing the Native Americans that used to live here. I take my family here every so often. It's worth a look if you like state parks.
Mark Moran
Beautiful location and great place for hiking.
Brad Clouser
Lots of easy trails and an amazing farm!
Dave F
Great Park. Good biking and hiking trails. Working 1920s farm is very interesting to see. Indian village is historical. There is a small lake (pond size) that offers good fishing for all. There is access to the Tippicanoe and Wabash Rivers if you can hike or bike along some trails. The aquatics center is is great for kids with a lazy river for adults. The campgrounds is clean with a large restroom/shower building. Half of the campgrounds is full hookup. There is a monument area for the Indian tribes that were in the area. Much of the park has prairie grass which is impressive in it's size in the late summer and early fall.
Kaylee Hughes
My fiance and I walk here all the time, there are a combination of paved pathways, dirt walking trails through the woods, and grassy paths through the fields. Tons of natural beauty.
David Labonte
It would have been nice to know that the green slide iwas still closed and the kaxy rivers wS closed too
Lee T
Really nice and peaceful! And big!
Mark Slone
Not your typical park, Prophetstown has prairies & meadows, woodlands, & wetlands to explore. Topnotch campground as well with amenities like full hookups. Great family park with hiking trails, bike trails, and an aquatic center in the summer.
Sarah Schreuder-Givens
Lots to do. Nice staff guac box at the aquatic center was tasty.
Amanda
Love it, it's beautiful. Great trails, water park, and farm!
Rob Covert
Amazing staff, one of the best maintained parks I've visited. I'm a Floridian so I was a little upset with the 20 degree temperature but a very tolerant DNR guy explained to me that you shouldn't wear shorts and flip flops in December in Indiana.
Book ahead, there's a reason this park is full when the glacier melts.
Sarah Stump
Wonderful park. Newer, needs more trees. Some are planted but not yet mature. It'd be nice to have canoe/kayak access to the river. Bike paths are awesome. Water park and facilities are nice and clean. The farm is a fun place to visit. Furnished with 1920s era furniture/appliances. Even a player piano. The Indian village is a great idea/base. It would be nice if there was more to it...arrowheads, indian dress, etc... Staff is helpful and friendly!
Dawna Davis
Just toured the campground. Great area and very well maintained. Also visited the Farm; very interesting.
Jeffery Nielsen
Kindof an underwhelming state park. It has a few trails, some historic sites and a farm house. Not much else to do other than swim there. Most of the nature is prairie and doesn't lend it's self to good hikes.
Jay Wyatt
This is not necessarily a great place to go for hiking, but it has a lot of cool things to do. I love the working farm. During Halloween that have scarecrow displays along the trails, which we enjoyed very much.

Really enjoyed camping here. Very clean bathrooms, and a lot of family friendly stuff around the campgrounds to do. They were always very well stocked on fire wood as well. The only unfortunate thing was that my wife and I were instructed by the security/park ranger that we had to setup our tent on gravel, rather than in the grass. It was a bit of a weird request, but we complied. It was also a bit hard on the knees and bare/sock feet when inside the tent. Otherwise, an overall great experience.
Steve Pressnell
Bike trails and the trail system is very nice, much of it paved. Modern facilities, clean, campsites were very nice and roomie and at the same time felt cozy and private. We will be back!
Meaghan B
We enjoyed our stay. The water park is very fun. Great for kids, up to about 15, 16yrs old. Then they might be bored. The park is amazingly big! It was too hot or rainy for us to do trails. Fishing pond looked weed covered so we didn't get in any fishing there.
The Native American Village is just sad. We understand preservation and restoration is costly and time consuming. However this part should remain listed as "a work in progress " until they do more with it. A couple buildings with nothing in them, a "meeting hall" with log seats falling apart and holes in walls was not what we expected.
The Farm was very nice. The volunteers here were helpful and nice. They take great care of all the animals and really have a lot of information on them and the buildings. We were disappointed with the Footprints in History. Again, here, lack of care for the grounds is the biggest issue.
The campsites are all gravel for your tent or trailer. Though we were told our site would fit our trailer and vehicle it was too short. Many sites were too short for travel trailers and a truck. They are very private in the front of the park where there is old growth. In the back the trees have not quite grown in so they are still pretty open. The bathhouse appeared clean until we got into the showers. The curtains were covered in mold and mildew. We did report this to the camp host.
The camp as a whole is very quiet! Almost too quiet. It has nice playgrounds, the sites are well cleaned, as well as the firepits, and what trails we dis try were clear and nice. We will likely go back, just keeping in mind site selection.
Lauretta Hapke
Lovely place. It's our ghost time here and aren't disappointed. Not many campers during the week now that school has started and fall is just around the corner. Nice full hook up for us, as well as a level gravel site. Staff has been very welcoming and helpful. It's a much larger state park than we expected. Definately recommend this park.
Smilinbluheart
We walked trail 1 through the prairie area. It was a nice walk. We also saw some of the scarecrows for the fund raiser. The park has some great bike trails as well.
Daniel Miller
My family loves this park! The aquatic center is fun for the while family and the camp sites are awesome! The hiking trails are well maintained and you can't leave without a visit to the farm.
Kathy Denniston
Had a very nice time there today with family. Wish the lazy river was available though.
barb c
Lovely picnic areas, play equipment, and trails with scenic overlooks.
Caleb Lackey
Recommended!! Only went to the water park but can honestly say it was a great time! Prices were low for entry both into the park as well as the water park. Life guards were vigilant and the park seemed to take overall safety at heart even doing a safety check on rides halfway through the day.
Tina
Beautiful park. We stayed for one night with 4 kids between 2 and 8 years old. They all had a blast and didn't want to leave. The rv space we used was full hook up, easy to find, and spacious. Worth the price. The farm was great. The grounds were very well kept and clean. Only complaint was that the bees, possibly carpenter bees, were really liking the playground equipment. The kids couldn't play on it until evening there were so many...but its nature so not going to take stars off for that. There was plenty of other things to do where the bees weren't bothersome. We're looking forward to visiting this park and staying longer during in-season when more amenities, like the aquatic center, are available.
Kathleen Thompson
Lovely prairie land area. Campsites are roomy. I was very impressed by the ADA/HDCP paved trails granted they are shared with bicycles but there's plenty of room for all. Nice day picnic areas available. Lots of history in the area and native American lore.
Our visit was capped off with a stop at the visitors center and getting to see a small herd of whitetails. Other amenities include an aquatic area complete with waterslides. A fishing pond as well as a farm and a blacksmith.
Chelsea H
We really enjoyed coming here. The paved trails are perfect for biking as a family. We took trails 3 and 4 while there. Mostly flat, and a variety of things to see: the river, the prairie, the woods. The wildflowers were really showing off under the trees! Once COVID restrictions loosen up, we plan to visit the campgrounds, the barn, and the ginormous water park!
Chuck Darling
Stay for the day or stay for a little while. Hidden in the north end of Tippecanoe County this park provides miles of trails and family fun. Get fresh meat and eggs at the farm to cook at your camp site or take home. Bike trails, fishing and parks make for a great afternoon out with kids! The farm houses are frozen in time with things from past like ice boxes and victrolas, have no idea what these are well the knowledgeable staff will tell you the history of the items in the houses. The restrooms were clean and there was no site of litter anywhere on the park grounds. This is a must visit park if you are looking for a very inexpensive outing!
Carmen Clift
This is one of the newest state parks in Indiana. They have a working farm, that you can tour. There is a great looking pool with a water slide. Paved trails are great for biking, and the campground is great. Campsites are generously sized, with gravel pads, and a fire ring. The bath size is very clean, and good sized. This is a convenient campground if want to be close to Purdue University.
Constance Hamblin
Perfect place for a fall morning!
Nicole Eldridge
Lots of walking paths, playground, the farm, fishing pond. My only complaint is that there's no bathroom near the pond and newer paths; gotta jump in the car and drive back to the ones by the playground.
John Montoya
Took my grandson to the fishing pond where it is catch and release. It was a great day. Plenty of family's enjoying the day.
Carol Williams
Looks very nice. Great camping area, walking trails and bike trails. Nice black top areas for the bike & walking trails. Also a fishing area. A very nice park. We didn't camp there just visited someone camping there. I would recommend it!!
Maizbha Uddin Ahmed
Nice place for a quite walk and biking. You also can hang around with friends and enjoy BBQ. Washroom may not be perfect for everyone (as there is no water service). No garbage disposal bin. They charge money ($8/car) to get in. So it's not unusual or picky to expect a little service from them. Overall a nice place. There is a farm if your kids wanna roam around the household animals.
Dawn
This park is great. Its scenic has a lovely paved trail for handicap which isnt easy to find. Has a great playground. The farm is amazing. We love it here!
Frank Turner
I didn't really go back into it. We went basically for the water park. Next time I would like to explore it more but from this first visit I was kind of unimpressed. I have been to most of the parks in the Hoosier National Forest and this one really doesn't compare.
Ben Browning
This is a pretty new state park so some of the natural areas are still growing in but this is a very well designed park (as it should be since they got to start from scratch). I really like this park and the way they have utilized the space. I hope they continue to add acreage. The playgrounds and paved trails here are great for kids.
Bobbi Harrah
This state park is amazing!! We wanted a full hookup, but none were left so we took the electric only site. Level gravel sites with larger spaces between sites. A large picnic table furnished and s firepit. Everything is clean in the park from the bathrooms and showers to the grounds. Water and dump stations clean. Beautiful green grounds, large playground if you have children and a farm that sells meat. Pool/aquatic center closed due to covid-19. We will be back!!!
Jon Havoc
Great park. Good trails for riding or hiking. Nice little water park with plans of growing. Is a definite go to destination with plenty of camping space & will be getting even better as they grow. Close to downtown Lafayette and other attractions, so plenty to do but far enough out that it is a great get away.
Doug Miller
Great biking trails, campground very clean and tidy, interesting plantings and native tall grass. We were there in the fall with 2 kids, had a great time. Would like to check out other seasons.
Gretchen Rae
I absolutely loved our camping trip to Prophetstown SP. The farm is amazing! It was so much fun to just take a self guided tour of the home and stroll through the past. I loved that you could do that and didn't have to have a guide. There was a very nice lady that came and introduced herself, welcomed us and advised us how to locate her if we had any questions or needed assistance. There are paved trails, wooded trails, a fishing pond and so much great historical stuff to check out and learn. We didn't get to see or do it all buy we will be back. Totally worth the road trip from Indianapolis.
Anthony Synesael
This is a newer state park. Still growing. They do have a watermark and several playgrounds for kids. There is a basketball court and volleyball court. Paved bike trail. Several hiking trails , they are all relatively flat. Fishing pond , never had much luck there ,it gets mossy at times. Campground is very clean and has nice restroom and shower facilities. No lodge or restaurant but the park is near several restaurants shopping is near as well.
Amy Sites
Nice walking path, flowers are beautiful. Play ground for kids is great. When they build the lodge,it is going to be a very nice addition to the park!!
Dan Nordyke
Fun place. The slide at the water park was out of order or I would have given 5 stars
Mike Durham
Nice state park with a variety of attractions. We ventured here to hike on Trail #3 which seemed to be a 50/50 split of time in the sun compared to shade. Barring on water levels/recent rain the eastern portion of the trail may not be passable. We "lucked" out and were able to complete our lap, but had to use tree bridges at 2 portions with one pass causing me to almost go knee deep with on of my steps!
Melissa Wobschall
This i a fun State Park to visit and learn about the local history of the area. Many people camp there and the sites are often full, which speaks well of the place. We also enjoy the aquatic center in the summertime. There are nice picnic areas and fun activities.
Brandon Richard
As a state park, its nice but not very wooded like most. Its supposed to resemble the grassy plains Indiana once was. Camping is kind of out in the open and on gravel pads, the full service sites have a bit of trees for some better privacy. My kids love the water park, and we do too, its always fairly busy, but a couple good slides here, decent lazy river and nice kids splash area.
Faine Tebo
We went to the "water park" here. Not bad but a little over crowded. They have 2 slides, a lazy river and a pool. The pool was closed though which forced every one into the lazy river. It was more chaotic than "lazy" ... Hopefully it isnt as bad when the pool is open!
Nellie
Really nice park. Would stay again. Quiet, clean, large sites, friendly staff. They have 2 different site prices 1 for FH and 1 for just electric. Check your site. Found 5 3 inch nails. Bathrooms were good. Showers could use some scrubbing.
杜威漢
Good camping sites. Park is very spread out and doesn't have much to see. It is less than 20 years old. Most of the trails are flat and through thick grassland. Lots and lots of open space. Paved bike paths near the campground are good for riding around with family. You can see a lot of stars on clear nights and there are many lightning bugs that put on a great show during June and July. There is a swimming pool away from the campground but it is nothing special. There is also a living history farm on the road to the campground that is worth a visit. You can see some cows, pigs, and horses. This farm includes a replica 1920s era farmhouse that you can tour inside. Friendly and knowledgeable tour guides and farm workers.
Mitchell Macy
Amazing pool great experience and very kind staff! Place is very clean and taken care of well.
Danielle Reyes
Really clean and well kept campground. Nice amenities and things to do.
David (Old Guy)
It's the third week of November 2018. Temperatures fluctuating between 48°F during the daytime and at sunset down to 38°F. We experienced our first "full" hookup.
It cost about $43 a night.
You have to drive to the Modern Restroom. We were about 6 blocks from this facility. I took a shower on Saturday morning. The temperature was a cool 38°. The water in the shower was about 110°. Not cold, but not hot either. The Restroom it's self was about 50°F. All-in-all, it was pleasant.
You have to drive to the various trails. All trails are handicap accessible.
If you bicycle or like walking. This is the place.
Diana Collins
Very nice park. Accommodation highly recommended. Beautiful day for Graduation party.
Lisa Baker
Prophetstown State Park is an amazing place to enjoy spending time outside. There are plenty of hiking trails, paved bike paths, camping, playgrounds, an outdoor water park, a small farm with fresh eggs and produce, and so much more!! If you haven’t visited this park before-you definitely should!!
Regan Sink
A very nice newer park. Rolling prairie and not very many trees. We camped for several days, very nice. Comfort stations are well kept. Good trails and bike path. Great place to camp, will be even better in 10 years when trees have grown
Nick Klinstiver
Really beautiful park. Unfortunately, it's built for RVs and does not encourage camping.
TERRY WRUBLE
Beautiful campground. Many sites are very private, especially the full hookup sites. The working farm is very educational and you can actually sign kids up to do chores. The water parkcis amazing and a real bargain. We will be back!
Matt Nodine
Place is awesome!! Full hookups which is unusual for state parks. Pull through spots. Lots of trees for privacy. Spots we stay in are stone so no tracking mud when it rains. Large areas for dogs to run. Several attractions on grounds. Play area for kids. Fill and dump stations. Short drive to Lafayette/West Lafayette/Purdue University. 1930's era working farm and bike trails. Usually some events going on. One of my favorite places to stay.
Veronica Reynolds
Beautiful place and so much to do! There is a farm with the friendliest animals I've ever been near! Pigs, horses, sheep, chickens, turkeys, and even 2 friendly barn cats. Great for kids to actually (safely and responsibly) pet animals!
Nick Balsley
For hiking, it's a pretty basic park, nothing too special. The trails consisted of a quick walk through a wooded area, then mostly through a mowed path through the field. I did not visit the waterpark, but it looked like it would be a lot of fun.
Drdankdoritos
The park is very clean and so are the restrooms. The paths are well maintained and clean but i have to say that there isn't much to do there. If you park in the wrong place like we did you have to walk a bit to get where you want to go. The people there were nice and helpful too. The village was smaller and less interesting than i thought it would be. But the cool thing is that the paths are spaced apart so its like your the only one there and on your own adventure.
Dave Alm
This is a wonderful water park to have in our area! They have a great shallow area for little children with splashing buckets and water guns, slides and fountains. There comfortable Adirondack chairs around the edge where an adult can sit and be close enough to their child.
There is an area with basketball hoops and little basketballs. It is deeper. Nice for older kids and adults.
Damn a big lazy River with alternate routes and lots of variety. And there are also two very cool water slides.
Big umbrellas are around the outside of things and lots and lots of chaise lounges. The concession stand that wasn't nice variety of treats and food. Dressing rooms are spacious and clean.
Get the kids to ditch their iPads for a couple hours and go out and have some family fun in the water and sun!
Deanna Franscoviak
This park is great and the water park is awesome. The only draw back is the price at $8 to park a single vehicle per day it is a little steep! But if you plan on going more than twice it is probably worth buying the season pass, it is good for ALL Indiana State Parks.
Lenny Alicea
It's a nice place to visit and see farm animals.
James Landrum
Great place to bring the kids to play at the park. The playgrounds are usually not that busy. They have some nice equipment. The campgrounds can fill up fast and I wouldn't recommend it for tent camping as it is mostly for RV. Some great walking trails and beautiful area.
T D
Such a beautiful and wonderful place to go camping, have a photo shoot, or take the kids to their awesome playground. I love it and my daughter had sooo much fun at their playground, and they have on site showers and nice and clean bathrooms. You can't go wrong with this place!
Edward Beheler
Very large, beautiful area. Would take multiple days to explore it all. We had a family gathering at one of the pavilions. There was a nice playground area nearby, but the playground had no nearby shade, so it was pretty hot for the kids playing there. Plenty of parking nearby, and the paths were well maintained.
Marc Cohen
Enjoyed the park! Nice bike paths throughout and some beautiful settings for group outings. The park is still growing and they continue to add new areas over time. My family also enjoyed the water park which has a lazy river and some slides!
Patty Rayman
A little short on the historical significance of the site and a minimalist visitor's center. The hiking trails are great. The prairie restoration is amazing and beautiful.
Danielle Shively
Beautiful state park to enjoy camping, running, bike riding or walking.
Bradley “Hoodly” Hood
Always something to do year around. Swimming pool rocks! The Farm is so authentic! The prairie trail to the Indian village is unique! And apparently the camp facilities are so busy you hafta make reservations quickly. They their own Halloween party hike for treats!
Mickey Naylor
We took a drive through to see how the park has changed after winter. Had a great walk with my dog checking out all the picnic facilities and play grounds. Roadsides are already mowed and prairie grass looked to have been cut or burned, so views across the whole park are spectacular. We were there the day before the April 1 opening and they were ready!
K Cox
Beautiful campground! Very clean grounds and very peaceful. They have other things to do and to participate in at the park, also.
Ishmael oliveras
We buy a state park pass just to go here.
We live in Lafayette so its really is worth it.
Playgrounds and farm are enjoyable we haven't been to the pool yet. Kids enjoy it they go nearly every week.
Richard Passey
Indiana's newest state park is a working farm and also has the other great activities associated with a state park. Horse back riding, fishing, hiking. Campgrounds are immaculate and friendly. The farm store has the best pork from the farm and can be bought in the living museum.
Brian Hammett
Outstanding park. It is one of the newest state parks in Indiana, but it has a vast amount of activities to keep the whole family entertained from all backgrounds. Many walking trails that range from easy to moderate in a wide variety of environments. Native American Homestead and the Period farm are both near the entrance and are the primary attraction for the park. It has big historical significance for the state of Indiana. Further back into the park are the longer more difficult trails. Many have you walking by the Tippecanoe and Wabash Rivers. Careful to observe high water marks because they can be flooded. Also available are a water park and fishing pond to go along with camp sites for mobile homes and RVs. Recommend for all nature enthusiasts.
T R
Park is great.
3 stars because there is no bathroom/porta-potie at the fishing area. I'll give it 5 stars once there is a bathroom in the back of the park. Even free parks, like Fairfield have stellar lavatory facilities.
Brady Miller
This is the second year I have gone here and we loved it. My mom and dad came with me and we went hiking the have a beautiful lake. They also have a very nice pool. Itell only 5$ for a pool entry. Even better that have a Indiana reserve and a nature centre and all sorts of trails. We love so don't just take my word for it go vist yourself.
Jared H
Great place to take the family and spend the day!
Michael Lee
Nice little park. It was clean and peaceful
Joel
Fun park for the kids. Concessions were way too expensive.
Jane Clift
A nice park. There are some trails for hiking, I recommend the ones along the creek or near the back by the pond over the ones through the prairie. The park is pretty new and they've been adding attractions, the farm house is quite nice. Stop in to buy fresh chicken and duck eggs, or just to see it.
Pam Hardebeck
We have been camping 1 week a month for the last 5 years. Dogs love it here😍 …
Rod Krassow
Beautiful park, very clean. Water park is family fun and well kept.
Arvin
Absolutely beautiful. It's a very unique park for Indiana featuring meadows and a water park. Great hiking trails and a popular bike trail. Well worth purchasing a year round pass in my opinion.
Michael Franklin
Went for the water park. EXCELLENT! Better then a day on the beach. Worth a day trip at $5! I want to go back and explore the trails.
Enjoy the beauty that is Indiana!
Jonathan Nail (PathSeeker1)
Wonderful park to visit. Lots of history. Battle Ground town is a great place to visit as well.
Camping, river, and trails on the property.
And to top it off they have a farm and you can purchase meats and other goods straight from the farm
Daniel Mickschl
I have a 49 year history with this property. Memories of cutting firewood, Christmas, and deer hunting seasons from childhood. So thankful it is preserved for everyone to enjoy now.
Ernani Magalhaes
I went for the Prophetstown history angel but didn't really end up doing much with that. The nature part is excellent. They've really brought back the prairie habitat from pre-settlement days. Beautiful. I don't think I'd recommend it for learning about Prophetstown at the scene of the crime as it were. They haven't built that part up much.
James H
I have been going to Prophetstown State Park since I was a little kid. The park provides a great atmosphere for camping ride along the river good place to fish. The hosts at this Campground are second to none for helping courtesy and all-around friendliness...
localclowncrew
Got 3 soley on water park. Kids pool play are closed. Only lazy river and slidesopen at reduced $3 rate. Must be 48" for slides and gkids not thete yet. 8 laps around and we left for casyAway bay.
Michael Cruz
Wonderful state park with newer aquatic center and large campground. Nice ridge and prairie trails plus paved bike paths. Additionally they have a farm homestead that is excellent!
Matt Good
Very nice state park with it's own mini water park. Our grandkids love! Two water slides, a lazy river, and a shallow area for younger children. You do not have to be a camper to use the Aquacenter. If you are camping, I believe there are 55 full hook up sites and 55 electric only sites. This is a newer park and very well maintained.
Bill Balser
A very peaceful & relaxing place to go & enjoy the sounds of birds, bugs & collect your thoughts & recharge yourself.
We are so lucky we have a place like this to go & enjoy! In the evenings you may be lucky enough to catch a family of deer watching you. They also sell meat & eggs there.
Hope to see you all there & enjoying our State Park soon!
Louise Nielson
Well cared for park with a welcome center, which includes restrooms. There are a lot of hiking trails around. A memorial to the Indians who were unjustly ran off the land and their Confederacy broken. A sad remembrance of our history. The place of the battle called Tippecanoe. Worth the stop. There is a waterpark close as well.
CHRISTINA WILSON
Nicely paved walking/running/biking trails. Offers a few pull through camping sites. Too many dogs allowed to poop and pee on sites and walking trails. We have been going here for years now, it has gotten worse. I love dogs but it is getting out of control!!!
Darya Jackson
Spacious park on the prairie. The bike trail is paved and runs for 2.5 miles. There is a number of other unpaved meandering trails. The stone garden stands there in memory of the Native tribes
Neil Perry
Great park all around. Super clean, family friendly, awesome bike paths. We will be back for sure!
Eric Stadnik
Nice facilities, however, note that the "aquatic center" does not have a pool! Just slides, kiddie pools and a lazy river. Acres of Fabulous wild flowers in bloom (july), nice bath house, level gravel sites, nice hiking and biking trails.
Shannon Ashby
Amazing park. Rolling prairie, very nice water park. Campground is very nice, also has full hook-ups available in some sites. Nice hiking trails. One of my favorites in Indiana.
Craig Smart
Stayed for the weekend during the country fair at the living history home, great show of draft horses. The campground was perfect. Lot 119 was shaded enough to keep most of the wind off of the fire and its very quiet and clean. Ill come back.
Kathy Isenhour
Prophetstown State Park is a prime example of an Indiana prairie. with flowing meadows of waving grass. Trails are easy to walk and beautiful. We came during October for the scarecrow trail which was grest. Stayed in. the campground on an electric only site which abutted the meadow. Sites were private, level and well-kept. There are also full hook up sites which were closer together. This is a wonderful addition to the Indiana state park system. Highly recommend.
Tammy Kruger
Very well kept. But no camp store, so make sure you have everything you need before entering the park. They do have bags of ice at a premium price.
Also level campsites.
We would definitely come to this park again.
Dick Terpstra
This is an expansive park with a variety of on-premise activities. The campground offers both wooded and open sites, with the wooded (not necessarily shaded) loop being the full hook-ups. The park staff said there were master plans to add more camping loops at some point. A big feature that would be nice is WiFi for the campers. I also think that many of the sewer connection risers extend too far from the ground--making it an uphill connection from the RV to the riser. These would benefit from having 4-6" cut off. A note on getting here: If your GPS directs you to enter the park from IN-225, don't do it. The Swisher Road entrance is the only one. Park staff/DNR: Lots of vehicles far exceeding the posted 15 MPH. Enforce it.
Jordan Meyer
Prophetstown is a great community resource with lots of educational activities and an excellent water park! Good variety in the trails with some gorgeous views of the Wabash and Tippecanoe rivers.
Daniel Warren
Nice place for a long walk
Kyle Doles
It was really cold and windy as we made the drive here from Indy. The park was pretty empty and upon driving through we knew why. Not much to see or do here as its 75% prairie. We think it would be much nicer to see in the summer, but today was just cold.
The farm was our highlight as the animals were all out and we were the only ones there. The chickens and turkeys were very social, following us around and allowing lots of petting. The farmhand was extremely nice offering to answer any questions we might have.
It was cold, but it was a blessing in disguise, as we had the place to ourselves. We will be back!
Holli Halcarz
This park is super awesome. The water park is amazing and very affordable & has things to do for the whole family. The ticks are super bad there this year so be careful.
Nick Loy
Early spring is not the best time to visit very good visitor center. Park entrance is several miles away.
Ben Biddle
One of the newer parks in Indiana, Prophetstown has worked to develop the park into a destination. As one of the easternmost grassland prairies, it can be hot in the summer sun, a good reason to visit the water park. Plan to stop at the farm to help with the chores and feed the animals.
The park also does a good job of tastefully explaining and preserving the Native American significance of the park grounds. I enjoy hiking the miles of trails and when they were younger, the kids loved the large playground.
time
It's so pretty. They make sure it's taken care of and trash is picked up which is appreciative. :)
Grant Lutz
Beautiful park for all types of people. Has nice trails.
Jeanne Murphy
Great campground. In the full hook up are with an rv. Rode the bike trails today. Fun. Trails were clean and well taken care of. Very clean park. 5 stars. ,full campground.
Mister Dinosaur
Great place to get away to the plains that once were. Playgrounds are in some need of maintenance and update but it is what it is for Indiana and their lackadaisical take on a state park. Bl
Stacie Hartley
Stayed at the campground. We have a 39 foot RV. We had a pull thru space with water and electricity. Space is wide with plenty of room. Fire pit and table. Camp host is on site. Playground for the kids. Bike path, pool and pool slide. Lots to do and park is kept neat. Will be going back.
Jessica Brovont
We loved everything about prophets town! The waterpark is small, but perfect to keep an eye on kiddos. The campsites were very clean and just the right size. There could be a little more shade. We will be back!
Eric Gellenbeck
It's a walk into the past that you can enjoy with the whole family. They had crafts for little children when we went there. In there information station they have exhibits of fish and other wild animals that you can look at up close. Go place to learn a little history and teach people about wildlife.
David Nicholas
Great park for camping. Nice paved bike trails and water park.
aylaeh cline
It is very peaceful and beautiful here. The campground is extremely well maintained and clean. The walking trails are also very well kept up.
Justin Miller
Cool variety of hiking trails and a safe dedicated bike trail. But ridng the main road is just fine since there is little traffic. Also great for xc skiing when there is enough snow. Only downside is the pay entry during the main season
Daniel Duff
Different from many state parks, very little is wooded, it is a prairie. There is allot to do in this park, paved trails for biking and walking/jogging, nice clean campground, waterpark, operating old time farm scenic prairie views, nice playground for the kids in the campground.
Maizbha Uddin Ahmed
Nice place for roaming around. But the washroom available around the park may not suit everyone. Nice place to hang around with friends and having a BBQ. I have seen some people flying kites.
Anne Weingart
This is a beautiful park! The trails are great and the farm is interesting and informative. We will be back!
Scott Whitley
They have some great 3 mile loop trails to walk thriugh the woods and next to the Wabash river. Love the park!
Brent England
All-around great park , need to work on a way that pools stay open in August , even though kids go back to school, you have great pool but not open in hottest month of year.
Verna Clark
Very nice campground. Has great biking and the farm to visit. We take our grandchildren to the waterpark right in the park. Visited three times this year. One of our favorites!
Cindy B.
Love this campground. So clean and well maintained.
Andrew Shively
Very clean park with nice bike and hiking trails, along with a family friendly aquatic center. Be sure to visit the farm and Indian Village. Very peaceful campground too!
john shields
This was a different kind of hiking. Prairie hiking is not what I'm used to being from Southern Indiana. Much more sun to deal with for sure. However, this part also has a lot of history to explore as well. I didn't get to the Farm, but I'm sure that was interesting too.
Mary Tenny
Absolutely love it here!!!! There is so much to do!!! Didn't have to worry about whether or not our 43-foot rig would fit. Plan on going back next season. Loved how they had the trail decorated with Halloween items!!!
Mick La Lopa
This park has evolved over the years with hiking trails and a aqua Center and Visitor Center where they have different programs and of course you can walk the paths through the Prairie and see the Native American village that is interesting but could do more with it to interpret Native American history
Shannon Pitts
This park is amazing! It's very family friendly, and there's a little bit of everything for everyone. The facilities are also nice and well maintained.
Matthew Schwarte
This park is very well maintain with lovely prairie vistas. There aren't vast natural areas or a lot of attraction, but it is a nice place to spend an afternoon especially with children.
Melissa Polk
My kids and I love visiting this place. The programs are great and the staff are friendly. We live to visit the animals at the farm, play at the Native American Village, run around the playground, and go to the pool.
LuAnn Wood
Great for camping. The Farm House was interesting. Couldn't figure out how to access the Native Village. $10 out of state admission is steep if you're just driving through.

WONDERFUL CAMPGROUND! We've been visiting Prophetstown SP for several years & it's one of our favorite IN State Parks. It's quiet, offers many activities to do with the children or as a family & is very clean. The Homestead Farm is a lot of fun to visit & the kids can't help but have fun with the farm animals. With the opening of the water park this year (2013), it has only made this great park an even BETTER park. The campsites are nice sized, all are on gravel pads & there are several pull-thru sites. Approx. 1/2 if the sites are full hook-up! This is a rare commodity at IN SP's! And, having this park only 30'ish minutes from our home, is just the icing on the cake! If you can camp here...I promise, you won't be disappointed!!!
Sarah Meiser
Tent camping is not the best. Can not put tents on grass, they have to be on gravel. There is a descent sized water park. But, other than that, it's a lot of wild life.
Scott Campbell
Great place to visit! Camped for four days and never ran out of things to do. Great place for a family to enjoy the outdoors!
Rick Kelly
The pull through sites are the best. Clean and well maintained.
Robert Muston
Certainly worth exploring. The farm with the Sears and Roebuck kit home and the indian teepee encampment are especially interesting. Many nice shelters and playgrounds for get togethers.
Sue Brown
This park is well manicured with numerous paved paths to walk or ride bikes. There is no traffic noise. Bushes slightly separated our site from the others.
Janice Foster
Well done State Park with very nice campground. There are fhu and elec only sites. There is a1920 farm and water park located in the state park, also good bike trails
Grace Auckley
This state park is one of the parks that I’ve been to and is best for running and hiking. There is a long (5 miles) paved trail and there are multiple bathrooms along the trails
Steve Damron
Pretty nice. In fairness, I was here on March 1st so it's not a great representation. I hope to come back when it's in full bloom and operating.
Your Mom
We stayed in the winter for a softball tournament. So we didn't do any of the fun things they offer. But, they have a excellent camp site.
Carolyn Schwarte
Very pleasant state park. The campground here is very clean and pleasant. The farm is not as large as in past, but the animals are well cared for. The Sears House is very interesting.
DP Thatsme
Wonderful place. Lots of nice trails. Check your dogs for ticks. We found 4 in 3 hours.
K Madd
Water park is a hidden gem for Tippecanoe County. Great facility.
Connie Kutch
Love love this water park and camp ground
Tyler Lipa
The beautiful marshland and the excellent public houses make this a great place to spend a weekend in a tent or a camper. The proximity to the historical Tippecanoe battle site is a great educational experience that puts much into perspective.
Kaley Hughes
Lots of trails over lots of area! Pool was definitely kid-oriented, would have been nice to have an adult pool or at least a deep end, but it was still fun!
I'mPretty Basic
The pool area is very nice but warning signs are everywhere that the place is infested with ticks. I am terrified of getting Lyme's disease so it pays to be cautious and check yourself thoroughly after leaving.
Nicole Pope
It's a different kind of state park, with prarie land and a historic farm. Fun for the kids. There are still playgrounds, picnic areas and hiking trails as well.
Susie Lamberson
I love prophestown and I have many memories there since I was a small child. It is so beautiful and they have many amazing places to go in walks and hike and they have an aquatic center!
Sarah Golden
New, gorgeous views everywhere, full hook ups, and the staff was so kind. Loved camping here!
J Denney
Great place for a bike ride or a hike, beautiful forests and great info on the history of the park
MAJic J
What a really delightful State Park! I have to give it to the state of Indiana, and they did a really good job with this. I am a big history buff, and I really enjoy going to the historical sites around the country. This was right up there with the best of the. The museum, the 1920s living Farm, the Native American village, all the museum displays, and the headquarters were extremely well done and delightful. A very informative place I highly recommend it.
Melodie Staley
Great park. Nice camping with full hook ups. Gravel pads. Lots of great paved paths.
Michael Bush
Made for a great cheap, fun and relaxing day with the family.
Michelle Savoie
Very nice park and campground! Lots of things to do in the park and the surrounding community. Love the paved bike trails and aquatic center.
Will Shell
It's a fairly new park and is growing all the time. All the facilities are well kept and clean. Plenty of walking, biking, and running trails. .And plenty of places to stop for a picnic. ..
paula heater
I love this park. Campground even has wide open spaces. The scenery is wonderful. Lots to do in summer. Cant wait to try Aquatic Center.
Lora H
Awesome camping, hiking, bike path!..amazing water park for kids! We always feel safe here!
Kyle Yorn
Good for low-key Hangouts and family gatherings but definitely not for hiking. Kinda just a big field with "trails" created by mowing areas.
Jamie B
Best water park around here! Love the lazy river and the open swim area. They have 2 slides and the concession stand prices are reasonable.
Scott Pense
Water park, old working farm , near circle of stones, lots of Indian crass ,
Jason Dunbar
Absolutely love this park for long quiet bike rides or walks! The new addition in the very back is my favorite part. Just hoping they get the whole thing paved soon!
jim tinley
These were some of the best RV sites we've seen.
Mindy Wells
Great park. Nice and quiet. The aquatic center is VERY nice. Not much shade, yet, in the campground. The trees are still small.
Keshava Mysore
We were there for a very short time. Just around 2 h. Couldn’t see much, but looks like a wonderful place to hike and a great place to see lots of birds, that’s why we were there, hope to go back there sometime soon to spend more time and explore more.
Cindy Wolf
Awesome park! Nice, level campsites. Can't wait to go back!
Paula Barbour
My husband and I visited Prohetstown yesterday and received a very informative tour by Angie Manuel. My husband uses a walker and was not able to walk to the village. Angie met us in the parking lot and drove us there. She spoke to us about the prairie on the way to the village, gave us some background on the village itself and how it came to be reconstructed. In short, she was so hospitable, informative, and willing to meet our needs. My husband and I both felt that we got way more than what we anticipated from our visit. Thank you so very much.
Jeffrey Kuhn
This was an awesome sight to watch a controlled burn in person
Rich Mosier
Really enjoyed the farm. Brought back old memories with I grew up on a farm in Nebraska and then farmed it for over 40 years. I still own it, just rent it out now.
Sonata Chaterji
Lovely ambiance but a little littered and wish the farm there had organic fanfare :) also, wish there were more events and family-centric activities regularly, at least Summers and weekends to start with.
Brandon Edelstein
Campground is clean and well organized, and it’s got a lot of history there too, more than I ever knew!
Brandy Harding
The lazy river needs to defiantley widened it way to congested and there needs to be one for us older adults who do not wish to get soaked the entire way through the lazy river furtgermore they have hardly any lawn chairs for loungeing theres alit of unused spaced with tons of weeds growong where they cd utilize that space better. Will price is decent snd nachos were freat funnel cake was nuked not fried so it powered sugar wasnr sticking to it. So a half way decent time but needs alot of work for improvemnt only 2 slides and laxy river and kiddy pool not much here to do gor all day adults
Thriller 77
It's meh, the village was a disappointment, the hike trails aren't that interesting, place is mid.
Alice Pierce
I love going here and walking on the paths.
Joe Kallok
A great prairie example, where the river and forest meet. It has a great example of a 1920s farm. Along with a very nice water park. Our family enjoys this park.
Denelsia Walker
Specifically came for the barn dance. I was the only chocolate sister there. Guess what? The live music, beautiful scenery, sitting under stars, trolley ride, bowl of chili, chocolate pie, and friendly welcoming smiles....made me feel right at home. ♡
Christine Gordon
Awesome park very well maintained. Great aquatic center awesome playgrounds.
Matt Meadows
Great place to visit. Camp grounds are clean, spacious and quiet. Bike trails are paved and are easy to access.
Zachary Smith
Little disappointed for a park named Prophetstown State Park that there is so little to do with the history of Prophetstown. The village is small, which is understandable but there is very little to discuss why. There are some blurbs about what the buildings were used for, but not much else.
Rob Beck
The bike path is awesome for beginners. Very flat and about 5 miles total. The park is also very flat but it is nice and refreshing close to Lafayette.
Conrad Miller
Visited the farm and the Native American tribal stones. Kids had fun and it was interesting to see a prairie park, instead of a traditional wooded park.
Paula Lowe
Nice wide open fields. Not enough shade in most places for a hot day but still a great park with lots of open trails for biking.
Colleen Dunford
Loved this park. Campsites were big, level & clean. Easy pull through. Will be back.
Dragonbird Shawn

Kathy Denniston
Checking it out for a family event in Sept. Was impressed with it.
Golnaz Williams
Went there for a picnic with friends, there were different picnic areas with play area and bbq. Also, took the kids to the farm, farm closes at 5 pm. Also, paid $8 entrance fee to the park.
Brian Romesburg
It's a nice quiet state park that has a little something for everyone. Campgrounds, walking trails, picnic spots, etc. It was an enjoyable experience.
BRENDA POUPA
Love prophetstown it the most beautiful stste park. Quite and relaxing. Wonderful trails. The park has such perfect scenery it almost looks fake.
Jake Crippin
This is a very clean, well-maintained park. There's plenty of item space. I really do question the recent need to lengthen the path to the main entrance. The new path adds about 2 miles of pointless turns.
Billy Foreman
Water slides are great! Lazy river... not so great. To small... very narrow. Not much room to lay back and be "lazy"!
LW LW
Great flat spaces with nice gravel, table and fire pit. Great trails and lots of wildlife. We always enjoy coming to Prophetstown
Victoria H.
Went to the aquatic center, only $5 a person for it and I think $8 for each vehicle. Aquatic center has a lazy river, a splash area, pool area, and cool water slides
Robin Slone
Maybe it's not as built up as other Indiana state parks, but it's a cute place and not as busy so it's nice. They offer tons of workshops such as making walking sticks, maple syrup, wildflowers, etc.
Evy
Nicely maintained state park. Great place for camping and going for long walks. Bring kids, the bikes, and your dogs!

Erika Norman
It rained the day we went so we weren't able to enjoy the hiking trails like we wanted to but it's a very nice park.
Brien Dick
So different from the usual state parks. Tall prairie grasses instead of trees. Great hiking trails through the grasses and new trails along the rivers.
Sonia Smith
A place to have fun, fishing pond, the farm and animals, a long trail that runs on the open prairie and also in the forest, 3 trails, the longest #3.
Angela Black

Interesting historically as well as topographically. Site of the 1811 Battle of Tippecanoe. Lovely facilities. Nice campground. Nice walking trails.

Best campground in the north part of the state! They should give a discount for the Aquatic Center admission if you are a paid campground guest.
matthew paduano
amazing display of what must have been thousands of fireflies above grass field surrounding campground when I visited in late June.
Michael Thoma
Great place to walk. They need an East entrance. Driving all the way around has us not going there as often. Need a way to park at the service building and walk in for people that have permits/passes.
Amanda Marshall
Very beautiful park close to home!! We enjoy the trails and that it is not over crowded!!
Roland Martin
Great place for peaceful camping since there is no fishing lake at this park. The water park is worth the drive during the pool season.

Great campground. Strange that they force you to set up on the gravel pads. We tent camped so that wasn't ideal. One star off for that.
