Reviews of Mounds State Recreation Area
Mounds State Recreation Area is a great place to bring the family. The camping spaces are spaciously apart from one another giving the camper plenty of space to play. It’s easy to reserve a spot and it’s affordable. Just go to their website.
Excellent experience. Friendly environment. Plenty of place, picnic tables, trees for shade, dog friendly, family friendly park! Adequate beach size, ample parking, concession, and full bathrooms with showers and also changing rooms.
Very nice beach and beach house. However, for someone like me with arthritic knees, there is one larger concrete step down to the sand. A water break I presume. But I needed help to step down to the sand. I couldn’t find a break in the concrete. But the water was perfect!
Beautiful place to enjoy with your family!
Nice area to have a barbecue near the lake and enjoy a refreshing swimming after.
There is an entrance fee per car, $7 for Indiana residents, $9 for everyone else. $70 for year pass for nonresident. As of the date of writing this: 7/19/20.
We did not go into the campground. Didn't find out fees or look into that area at all. Attendant on duty.
Sandy beach area was nicely maintained. Had a refreshment stand and restrooms.
Lots of picnic tables, several outdoor grills, many restrooms, scattered at various parking areas. Fishing dock. Several trails, but not wheelchair accessible so can't comment on those as to difficulty or quality. Seemed odd that the sandy beach is opposite side of lake from campground. Did not see handicap accessible way to get from parking area to beach.
Lots of birds, squirrels, chipmunks. Several native flower areas. Lots of naive tree species, including fully grown Buckeye, Sugar Maple, Honey Locust.
Overall, a nice place to spend the day.
Beautiful place to go with the kids to the beach. They have cleaned it up alot from last time we were there.
Always enjoy camping here each year around fall time. The campground is great and the fishing is awesome. Only issue is the restrooms and showers are separate.
I really like this campground and the lake is very nice. However, it is hard for me to believe that this site has not flooded or had issues in the past. Meaning there should have been gravel, hay or some type of excavation to remedy the flooding. We came back from the lake and we could not get back in the camper without going through a puddle of water. I am pleased that there was another site available and they allowed us to move but the next morning there was another camper there.
Update: my comments still stand from our previous visit. However, we stayed at another loop and it was a very pleasant experience. Staff at the entrance and check-in gate were very nice. The check in process was easy as well. Sites are really nice & level, there is plenty of room, and privacy at several sites. We went to the beach and it was very clean for it to be off season.
Had an excellent time for 5 days a little on the hot side, but still didn't interrupt the way we were camping I'll be back . . . .
What a great park. Beautiful camp spot and beautiful views.
Great fishing. Beautiful and clean. Be sure to take your trash out with you when fishing the banks. Remember. It's our State Park.
Nice camping spots, friendly people, beautiful area, lots of nature, the showers need some attention. The drains are clogged water stands in the stalls. The shower heads don't work properly some only have a trickle of water coming out. No hot water at all. Overall had a nice experience just would like to have been able to get a warm shower
My boyfriend and I camped there w our pop up last weekend and I must say I was very disappointed. The pit toilets were a disgrace. Hadn't been properly cleaned in a long time. Graffiti everywhere and the whole building basically falling apart. The showers were slapped w bleach and the drain backed up onto my feet. Which by the way was disgusting. The shower said hot and cold but only hottttt. This is a campground I would never recommend to anyone.
Beautiful, clean campground. Slightly difficult finding flat surface for tents. Clean bathroom but ONLY HOT WATER in the shower. Beach was not handicap friendly. Large drop-off from sidewalk to beach. But it was beautiful.
The Mounds Recreation area at Brookville Lake never disappoints and we've been coming here since the early 70's...the campsites are great for the RV crowd or the tenting group...There is a camp store on location to buy those items you always seem to forget or never have enough of "ICE & FIRE WOOD". Overall the grounds were VERY clean, grass was well manicured and the shower house was clean and plenty of Hot water...
Templeton Creek boat ramp is reserved for the campground anglers, pleasure boaters, and jet skiers 3 launch bays an ample parking.
Overall a great place to bring the family to enjoy the outdoors whether you come to picnic, swim, fish, or pleasure cruise the lake this place is great!
We have spent the last three days here. The park is clean. The staff is very nice. There bank fishing is ok no boat rental here you have to the quaker town entrance. The showers are a little messed up how they are set up. Shower started with cold water then turned scalding hot in bldg .8. Due to leave today as soon as we get out of the er in Ohio I will go button up the popup and roll on down the road.
Brookville is a very clean campground. It's more peaceful than many of the area Ohio campgrounds as IDNR actually patrols it. No golf carts running around at all hours and loud stereos going all day and night. You can hear the nature around you!
The lake is nice but often rough. Good for tubing and swimming but not so much for skiing and wakeboarding.
Many miles of nice trails to hike as well. Lots of wildlife to observe and great picture opportunities.
I absolutely love it there! Very clean and up kept! Friendly staff and just a fun time with the family for a week get away! Trails need to be described better tho!
Campgrounds are nice. Hiking trails not very good. Hiked 3 different ones. No waterfalls, rock formations, or lake views. The"scenic" trail is just an old road, also with no lake overlook.
We love the beach! Great place to spend the day with the family. Not too crowded. Sand or grass, sun or shade available. Changing rooms and bathrooms are old and could use an update. Snack bar only open Fri, Sat and Sun so BYO lunch
Stayed in full hook up camp C for 6 nights. This area was sold out over weekend. Beautiful campground with wide campsites, picnic tables, fire rings. Mostly campers from Ohio. Beautiful stars at night with no lights to interfere. Bathrooms had issues. Black mold noted on shower walls. Shower drains not working so I was standing in drain water. Shower heads spewing out water at the side. Shower knob dropped off and I had to screw it back on. Could not adjust cold/hot water. Crusted hand held shower with water trickling out. Water was somewhat softened with lather noted when shampooing. No where to set clothes or toiletries while using sinks, toilet, showers. Heater worked well in the shower area. Wondered why the bathroom was so poor.
The trails had a lot of downed trees from storm damage in April. Parts of trails washed out. Signs were pulled out of ground. Signage for trails inconsistent with park map. I want to return, hopefully with improvements seen next time. Again, I don't appreciate the black mold in the showers.
Just camped here for the weekend. The reservoir itself is awesome! My brother has a nice pontoon and we had plenty room to get up to 40 mph. We did some tubing, swimming, and fishing. There were lots of bald eagles to watch, too! We saw several while fishing, going to and from their nests.
The campground was fine, but not spectacular. We were at site 8, which was a bowl. Our camper fit on the front parking pad, thankfully. It had lots of privacy but in a rain, a tent might flood. The bathhouse was NASTY. Feces on the floor stayed the whole weekend, and a clogged sink from vomit. My family will probably stay at a different campground next time we head to Brookville.
The beach is driving distance and was very clean. The bathrooms were a MESS any given time of the day. No hot water, flooding. My kids didn't like it much other than the beach. There is only 1 playground, and it was 600 yards from our site. The sites are nice and large, but no water hookup if your not on a "full site".
Great place to check out for hunting.
This place has tons of camping spots, bathrooms, showers and lots to do when you're there. Very animal and kid friendly.
Nice campground, had a waterline break the workers came and let us know before they shut water off. They fixed it quickly.
Great camp ground we had a great spot all sites seemed very spacious. There was a few people that needed to slow down
Gorgeous State Park with an amazing lake for sport fishing, camping and relaxing.
Spent the day walking the trails with my dad and brother. The park is absolutely beautiful and I would recommend it to anyone who loves to hike, boat, fish, or swim. Here is a baby deer we saw while on the Wildlife Wander trail!
Campgrounds and beach are always clean and well maintained each time we have visited! Courteous staff always assisting with a smile! We look forward to our annual family camping trip each year!
I reserved site 79 and upon arrival the grass wasn't cut and there was straw all over the site from where they were trying to grow grass seed. The site shouldn't have been able to be reserved because it clearly wasn't ready for people to camp on. They did come cut the grass upon arrival after I asked them to. I asked probably 3 or 4 times for someone to come with a leaf blower to try and blow the straw into the tree line but no one ever showed up. Not sure why they couldn't have sent someone to come clean it up but we all made due.
1st time camping at Mounds sra, it was OK. Really want to rent a boat while there but they don't allow pets. Deal breaker. Did go to Richmond and looked at some campers.
Very nice campground! Facilities were very clean and well kept. Was a little misled by Google, though. Photos of the campground showed a lot of mature trees, however they must have cut a lot of them down (maybe an emerald ash borer problem?) and replanted because there were only new trees in our area. On the plus side, we spotted a Bald Eagle nearby at the lake. Very cool!
Great place to do many different things. Cheap too. $9 for out of state per vehicle $7 for indiana residents
Beautiful especially at sunset. Multiple trails to hike and even events put on for group hiking. From a beach walk to walks through the woods, there is something for each person looking to go outdoors.
Love this lake really don't go to beach at mounds we boat and fish there a lot it's my favorite lake around gets a little crowded at times but what lake dont this day and age
Nice campground, large sites but lots of people when full
Camping slots need to be leveled. Cell service would be nice so families can communicate from different areas of the park. 4th time there. Good fishing, great employees.
Tons of camp sites and absolutely gorgeous scenery. Had a great time.
Just love this place, staff if friendly place is kept nice and clean! Can't wait to come back!
It's nice to grill out and the beach is fun lots to do there boating and camping etc.
Great place! Enjoyable time with friends and family.
The beach area and park were very clean and well maintained. Ranger at the gate was extremely friendly.
Nice state park campground. Not a lot of shade at the sites but they clearly state than on the website. Rained a lot but will definitely be back.
Very clean facilities and an AMAZING beach area!! Will definitely return!!
We love camping at the mounds. Family camp out has been going strong 25+ years.
What a great place to stay for camping. We did have (not so good) weather but friends and family came together to make this a once in a lifetime experience. Park personnel are courteous and friendly. Enjoy this hidden gem!
Whent here to do some fishing i got one it was a catfish 2 half to 3lbs. Lil one let him go it was a beautiful day
Great place to camp. If you don't like a lot of boating traffic then stay away from here on the holidays. The campgrounds are very clean and well maintained. There are sites with electric and a few spots in each loop that are next to water pumps. Would give 5 stars if ramp pass for boating was free of u camp there. Also indiana game wardens pile up at camp store and take turns pulling people over as they enter the campgrounds. I have never been pulled over but watched them get vechile after vechile ln memorial day weekend. My family camp here at least twice a year. Beware that there is hazardous algae in the lake but that's only a problem if you are swimming near the algae.
Great campground. We stayed in the older campground in the middle. Paved sites, very large sites with plenty of room. The bathrooms were not that great but we use the bathroom in the camper.
Nice campground. Unfortunately we weren't able to enjoy it much. It rained the first day and a half but that has nothing to do with the park. We were also trying to organize our new trailer also so it was a plus.
Only bad I can say is because of all the rain there was a lot of standing water on the site and where our steps landed was a very large puddle. It was gone the next morning but was fun to get up at night with 2 large dogs to keep from going in.
All in all we will definitely be back and try to enjoy the campground.
Very nice neighbors also we met when it quit raining.
Love this beach..always clean..beautiful love the waves..been going here for YEARS will always pick mounds over the others off Brookville lake
Had fun camping with the dogs. Beautiful weather.
My wife went into the deep part of the creek. It needs more concrete blocks on Trail 3. Every thing else was great
Nice clean place it was just a quick stop on the way home so didn't get to see all that was offered but what I saw I liked
What a beautiful place to camp!!! We went there to tent camp & not only is the park beautiful, the campgrounds are extremely well maintained & the sites are the biggest I've ever seen. We got the last site available & we were able to put 2 very large tents (8 person & 6 person tents) & park 2 Jeeps & my "wheels" (my mobility scooter) & still could of put at least another large tent on our site. My nephew pd for the campsight, but we had to pay $9 per car to get in the park. You only pay that once, as long as you keep the tag with your campsite & check out date, you can come & go from the Park as many times as you want. I didn't mind paying the fee for Indiana Parks, because they really take great care of them. Even the shower house was very clean. I have been to Parks in Ohio & the shower houses aren't very clean & the sites are pretty small & kind of noisy. The Mounds was very quite & One more thing we found out about Indiana Parks. Indiana also has a yearly pass that can be purchased for $70 (non resident price) & that gets you into any State Park in Indiana. Camping fees are not included, but that's still a great deal. Indiana Parks really are worth the drive from Dayton, Ohio. We will definitely be back to camp at the Mounds again.
Me and my family love this place its clean and me and my kids always have a great time at this beach it's overall a great place to visit for the summer.
Best camping in the State of Indiana! Great Lake here at Brookville, much needed time away! ❤️The food was delicious!!😋 …
Fairly new facilities including showers bathrooms and of course parking areas for RVs
The lake is beautiful. Lots of geese and unfortunately junk on the beach. The sand can be a little rocky, but nice.
Always a beautiful place to watch the sunrise
We usually go here quite a few times over the summer but this summer only once. It's always a great time swimming at the beach and laying out.its a beach on a lake so yes the water is not crystal clear and I wouldn't recommend drinking it lol. My son loves to swim here and play in the sand. Lately I will say you have to be aware of the bird feces everywhere you walk on sand or regular land. We will keep going back here, I'm sure.
Always a good time at Brookville SRA. Great place to bike, boat, and fish. Needs some roadwork. Potholes could swallow a small child.
It's a really beautiful place to 🏊♂️, ride your 🚴♂️ 🚵♂️, grill out, clean bathrooms, 👌 😋 😍 …
Awesome just like all other Indiana State Parks. Clean and hoosier friendly.
Nice campground, some spots can be muddy if it rains. Full hook up sites are not very long and several boats are parked along the campsites making it very crowded. There is extra boat and trailer parking lot but campers don't seem to use it. Beach facilities are nice.
We love this campground usually however this Halloween Camping weekend was different. They had all garbage dumpsters up at the overflow parking not near the bathhouses as usual. That was very inconvenient. Also for some reason they have quit mowing the open spaces within the loops which is also a shame, those spaces provided great areas for children to play and families to enjoy ballgames, croquet and such. Disappointed in getting less for more money being paid.
It would get 5 stars if you didn't have to pay an out of state 9 dollar park entrance fee on top of the camping fee, reservation fee, and taxes.
Beautiful drive back beautiful Park beautiful beach beautiful Lake the bathrooms need to be addressed more than once a day in the people that are actually going there please clean up after yourselves you guys are all disgusting and sickening honestly you're the reason why we don't have nice Parks or restrooms because you can't take care of it go home treats your house like that don't go to public don't ruin it for the rest of us get a clue you disgust me
Beautiful cloudy day at the beach!
Park was very clean. The beach was very accessible Even with the small crowd they had that day Plenty of Of picnic areas around for corporate or or family get together. We stayed in the campground Nice sights and clean bathrooms.
Good family time. If you're wanting to grill out go ahead and bring your own Grill. They do have random grills in the park but that they are always being used. Also go ahead and bring your own drinks because the last two times we was there, concessions were not open. But awesome time.
Shower houses and bathrooms are WAY out of date
Other than that, it's a beautiful Park.
The park was really nice but the water was really nasty I found Band-Aids, spit, water bottles but it was still a good time
One of the best campgrounds we have been to in Indiana. Sites are good sized and well maintained. You are allowed 2 vehicles per site! All campgrounds should allow this (if sites are large enough) imo! Water fill/ dump station has a dumpster there too. Also a plus and convenient! Beautiful setting and very peaceful!!
Took the kids. They swam and buried each other in the sand
Large lots plus electric, water and sewer hook up for a reasonable cost.
Camping area is always clean and well kept.
Nice large Beach Area. I took the Short loop 2 mile loop that follows the lake and leads to this Mound dated back to 10 BC. The trail ended with a symphony of 🐸 frogs. The large loop is 4 miles.
There were thousands of Native American Mounds and Earthworks in the Ohio Valley Area. Most were destroyed by farmers plowing and looters looking for relics.
I am doing an indepth study of these ancient sacred Mounds and Earthworks. Not all Mounds were designed for burial purposes. Many were aligned with certain stars and/or constellations and had Solar and Lunar alignments that corresponded with Solstices and Equinoxes. I plan on hosting ceremonial hiking tours to these sites in the Tri State Area.
This park is so beautiful! So worth the drive! The DNR does a fabulous job of keeping this beech clean and it's a great family place! The view of the lake from the beach is gorgeous! The lake water is also clean!
Nice lake. It was just late in the summer and the blue algae was high. We did a little swimming but were scared.
Very nice place! Lots of things to do!! Hiking, nice beach but a bit rocky, fairly clean lake, restroom facilities are all outdated and not the cleanest but they work, camp sites are decent size but the grass wasn’t mowed nice. There’s lots of things to do in the area. Pretty place!! Would go there again! Thank you for everything!
Best beach near Indianapolis and the camp site is super clean
It's a great place, but it needs some maintenance in its green areas, it's a beautiful lugsr
The park was nice and the staff. The only reason they dont get 5stars is they had a water issue and we weren't told so when we filled up our fresh water it had a horrific smell and was black so we had to spend almost 2hours flushing it out and dumping the tank. When we got home had to flush the hot water too. Stuff happens just wish they would've done something just to apologize for the inconvenience😒
Been going for over 20 year. Always loved it.
Well it was every nice I recommend coming early in the morning to get a place by the trees the water was in amazing. Sometimes their is trash thrown around but it is not a big problem. Their is a floaty stealing problem so take care of your stuff. And their is also an area where you can play volleyball. And you have to pay few bollard not alot to get in.
I've been coming here for years. Beautiful Park. The only complaint I have is not towards the place itself it woul be to all the visitors that come and just leave their trash wherever they feel like it. They provide trash cans...Please use them so this park and beach can stay beautiful.
$7 to enter. Hiking, fishing, trails, and a beach.
No better way to spend your weekend for under $10
Best beach in the area that we know of. May want to have water shoes or wear your sandals in the water because of lots of sharp rocks. There is a snack stand and bathrooms with showers.
Was fine for my husband and I but I will never take the kids there again. They were bored out of their minds! Poor phone signals, simple playgrounds, cars drive around pretty fast, showers were so-so, (the ones that work). Its just not kid friendly or desirable. But its clean and the camping spots are large and decent.
Overall nice facility. The campsites were very close together and the bathrooms ran out of toilet paper by Sunday. But the beach was nice, the campsites themselves were nice. We had some rowdy neighbors which made it hard to sleep, but I suppose that can't be helped.
Great beach. Sometimes the morning after a weekend there is trash on the beach but by noon they are out there cleaning it up. The weeks are pretty busy, but the weekdays you'll usually have the beach to yourself.
Best campground we’ve ever been!! The facilities were clean and the sites were a good size! The park has lots of things to do like trails and playgrounds for the kids. And the beach was AMAZING!!!!
Stayed at this park for 10 days in July. The sites were spacious and the park was clean and well kept. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. It is difficult to find available full hookup sites on weekends when making reservations online, so we had to reserve an "electric only" 50 amp site. We enjoyed our stay and will be back next year.
Great place to go camping swimming or hiking. There is a nice store here and pleanty to do especially with the neighbouring towns. The bathrooms and showers need updated severely. Also alot of dangerous tree limbs need to be taken down so they don't hurt anyone.
Nice quite place to walk trails out on my son's youth hunt today so excited
Have been camping here annually for 2 decades & the amenities includes camping (primitive, electric, & full hook ups), playgrounds, hiking trails, fishing docks, & a beach on Brookville Lake in the rolling hills of southern Indiana. The property is kept clean & well-maintained (with facility updates over the years). This remains a family favorite place to gather over the years.
This is by far one of my favorite campgrounds to go to. campgrounds are always clean and well-maintained and restrooms are always clean. They are always properly staff. The Halloween trip is the best. Highly recommend this place to anyone. Great fishing in the lake.
I walk here several times a week. Clean for the most part but the beach can be dirty after a busy day. Some of the trails could use more regular maintenance but they are all safe and well marked. I would like to see more areas mowed especially around the entrance.
Another quality camp on Brookville lake! all 8 of us had a great time. Our fishing trip neighbors were respectful. The bathrooms were clean. The lake was busy yet easily navigated. The boat rental at Kent Harbor was close by, quick and painless. We'll be back again and I think we've made some of our friends regular campers with this one.
Have been going here for years with my family absolutely love this place usually very friendly people and very clean
Undescribable - great time with my friend! We enjoyed nature & I found out she's a AWESOME Driver bc the curves & looking over not being able to see the where the tree starts IS CRAZY 🤣 EXPERIENCE was getting there & being there was MAGICAL 🪄😉 I wish I had pics but didn't pay attention to our phones at all ... getting grounded & centering myself. Recommend EVERYONE find a place outdoors in Nature & turn off the noise of the movie we r watching & sadly apart of. Much Love Y'all 💕
It's still an OK beach, but not nearly as nice as it used to be. There used to be lifeguards and a floating platform with diving boards, but they've been gone for years now. There's a lot of trash (pull tabs, pieces of paper, and smashed cans) in the sand now too.
Who doesn't love a sunny day at the beach? A beach was easy to access, was very clean, and had abundant parking even though there were many people there. It's a great place to visit. I recommend it to anybody passing through.
Great campground, pretty clean. Friendly people.
The beach is great when it's not super packed...Which is rare. But the rest of the park is always wonderful. Camping is good and there are trails everywhere. Lots of good bird watching
Beautiful setting, great trails.
Beautiful! Great place for a short family day trip.
Highly recommend the visit. It's worth the drive. Thought it was funny how many comments I overheard about the similarities to a beach. (If you've been to a REAL beach it's not.) One girl even mistaken a person swimming as a dolphin. I do give it 4 stars though because my sister and I took separate cars. She was right behind me when paying to enter. I got asked if I was from out of state (no) and paid $7. I did mention that my sister was behind me but once parked my sister said she had to pay $9 and didn't get asked of she was from in or out of state. Still worth it but I do wonder why the prices were different.
Camping was okay, only electricity at the sites, no water. Water in showers was burning hot! Hard to camp when it's so hot outside and you can't even take a shower. Campground itself was nice, take a look at pictures before reserving a site, some have trees, others are completely open without any shade.
Big beautiful campground lots of space. There were alot of people but it wasn't crowded at all. The beach is a really nice spot to cool off also.
Been coming here every year for over 30 yrs. It's a great family destination and clean. Since it's a state park I have noticed the maintenance is dependent upon the state budget. Due to COVID the grass is a little longer and not cut as much.
Went to the campsite to visit with friends and hang out and let the kids play on the playground equipment.
Not all the Restrooms were open yet so we would have to drive to the one restroom in our location that was open and then drive back. I don't know if it was too early in the season or what to openall the restrooms? That's why I gave it a 4 star instead of 5.
We had fun and the guys took all the kids on a trail in the woods. What brave souls! Us moms giggled as the kids came out of the trail about 5-10 minutes ahead of the guys announcing that the guys (the dads) got them all lost. Lol, the guys finally came out of the wooded trail with the two youngest kids. They all had fun, but the guys said next time they go with no kids. Guess 7 kids was a bit much for 2 guys LOL!
The staff we met was very friendly. It's a nice campground for a few days or a week. Unless u have a satellite dish , tv reception stinks. Internet connection is limited at best. To which is no fault of the park. We've been here a couple of times before and we will probably come back.
Nice tables and areas for picnics. Nice lake and Beach and staff. Trails and volleyball and boat ramps etc...
Great beach, good trails, good camping. The only downside is that parts of this wonderful state park flood during the rainy season. Plenty of water oriented things to do in season. This has been voted one of the best beaches in Indiana.
Great camp site. Beautiful country.
Great place to swim, fish, boat, whatever you can do on the water you can do here, great family place to be with the family, and also great place to be camping at!! Have never had a bad experience here a d have also met some great new friends 😊 and the staff does a wonderful job about keeping this whole place clean and safe!! Picture took leaning up against pavilion wall!
Classy.Family place. More than enough to do. Beach. Fishing, boating, we are meeting Smoky the Bear today at 5pm for pictures as it is his birthday. Not enough time in just a weekend, need about a week here to do everything. We loved it. Bring your pets. ( unless they are obnoxious. Same goes for children. They must be supervised at all times)
Mounds State Recreation Park, THIS weekend, is pretty nice. Camp ground is not too full. Price is fair. Park is clean, and there is soap in the rest rooms. We had rain yesterday, but we still had a good stay. I recommend this place!
Nice State Park, employees are generally friendly and the facilities are well maintained. We stayed in the 'C' loop, which has full hookup and 30amp service - first time I've seen this at a state-run campground. Also noted that a very large percentage of campers brought boats, both for fishing and water sports.
Many sites have decent shade, though a lot are out in the open too. Also disappointing that the park lost a number of very nice, mature ash trees, I suspect to the emerald ash borer.
Though completely full on a late June weekend, during the week I think less than 10% of sites were occupied. The public beach is gigantic, with a snack bar and flush toilets - should handle big crowds fine, though it was pretty empty on the Mon. afternoon we checked it out.
A good place to camp. Private and quiet. People are respectful and friendly. Plenty to do.
I thought the beach had sand in the water and is was rocks that were big enough to leave stone bruises, needed swim shoes.
I watched the dam being built since I was in 1st to 6th grade and said I would always be there once it opened however I moved away and have only been there 3times in the past 41 years,it's beautiful there just not many options on places to eat or any shops around town.
The town has never changed since I moved away, they could get more business and job opportunities if they would put in a Walmart to sell more things people forget to bring with them, people would stay longer and spend more money in town .
We love mounts campground clean restrooms easy access to Lake friendly people
I was surprised and happy when I saw the shooting range. The ranger was very polite and the range had different target distances. We usually just go there to get the boat in the lake but now we shot too.
Our friends have there boat docked there every year and the docks are maintained well. I enjoy feeding the BIG fishes by the dock, they get splash crazy. Make sure to bring your own gas if possible the gas prices are alway high on the lake.
The park and campground are great! However, we wish that eight the park rangers at the DNR offices would patrol the campground mos frequently at night. There was a group of campers behind us that were on a loud speaker doing karaoke until midnight. Very annoying for us and those around us. So beware the park people don't patrol to make it enjoyable for all campers.
Very nice campground and park! Large campsites that allow room for campers and a boat along with 2 vehicles.
Typical camp store with basic needs with prices that are high for what you'd find anywhere else but are usual for a camp store.
Nice boat ramp to put your boat in and out of the water and is only available to people camping in the park, not open to the public.
Very nice and well kept beach area for Brookville Lake.
Great hiking trails. Lots of different paths you can take depending on desired distance
My friend and I went on a backpacking hike around Brookville lake in late March. It was a lot of fun and approximately 27 miles all the way around. It's a strenuous hike at times, and we tried to do it in two days. It was hard! I'd recommend a two night, three day expedition, because doing the whole loop in 27 hours as we did was exhausting. The trail is a bit treacherous in the winter at times if there is snow, and while it's well marked for most of it, there are parts on the western side of the lake when we ultimately lost the trail and could not find more markers. We were able to go off the trail and intersect again with it later, but that made it more difficult and cost us some time. Overall though, it's a great place to hike. You'll forget you're in Indiana with all the hills and elevation change! Give it a shot.
Lost my husband's rabbit dogs, they were out running rabbits but got too far and couldn't find their way home. Thankfully 2 Campers staying at the mounds found them and called me, their collars have my number on them. This is them after 4 days missing! They ran rabbits the entire time, they were so kilt I had to carry them to the car! But anyways this place is Great for the entire Family! Fishing, hiking, camping, swimming, boating, playground area, bbq area, creek stomping, horse back riding, and more!!! The lake is beautiful! Clean, fun place for swimming in the summer. We had our daughter's 13th birthday party here last year and it was a blast!!!
Me, my fiance and Father-In-Law along with his wife visited. We enjoyed the entire time. It was refreshing to see the beautiful land around us. We will visit again-me and my fiance for a day together. Soon❗
This is a fun park. Plenty of places to fish from the shore. Nice boat ramp too. Campground was clean. Staff also came out in the pouring rain to let our group know about a tornado warning that had been issued. Great place.
The scenery was Beautiful and the park was FREE with the exception of parking, which was only $9. Very family friendly and the weather was perfect. Definitely going again, what a hidden gem in Indiana💙 …
Great place to camp with family and friends.
I was shocked to have to pay a vehicle registration fee after I had already paid for 2 nights of camping plus in order to put our kayaks in the lake we had to pay a lake registration fee. We had 2 vehicles and 2 kayaks. This was a total of 28$ plus we had to buy our wood there. Talk about being nickel and dimed to death. Probably won't go back. Also no playgrounds near the campsites.
This is a beautiful park with a lot to see and do. They have a large selection of camping spots, all of which are meticulously maintained. The people are friendly and eager to make your visit memorable.
Very nice place to enjoy the water. We came and visited the beach and it was very nice. Facilities are very nice and clean and overall the park looked great.
Very nice, clean and not too crowded! $7/per car is a little high though. Plus, why can't paddle boards and jet skis get rented right off the beach?
We enjoyed the Mounds trail on a beautiful fall day. We started at the causeway parking area and went from there to the longer Mounds trail, about 8 to 9 miles. Most of the trails were well maintained except for the longer Mounds trail. Overall it was a great hike.
Had a nice family stay at camp ground. Trailers not mark well at all or maintained at all. Campsite are unlevel. 2 of the rv sites next to us had 10 tents with 7 vehicles and boats parked and loud through out the nite with nothing said to them. Will be going to whitewater camp ground next time.
This is a beautiful place. You just need to find the right spot to relax. I can spend hours here. Also there is a small beach to chill in the water or next to it
Very nice place for the kiddos to enjoy the water.
The camp area is well kept, yet the shower and bathrooms need to be up dated. The beach at Mounds SRA is very clean but could at least use a ranger or someone to supervise. There appear to be many boat ramps around the lake. I would highly recommend Whitewater Memorial Park also as it has the offering from horse back riding, canoeing on a small lake and a miniature golf and go cart place near by.
Love ole Brookville, love riding my bike there from my house in Hamilton Ohio, good little ride, but the park is great , it's well kept an clean, the beach are is nice an the concession stand is reasonably priced, camp area is really nice an equipped with electric outlets an fireplaces an much more, if your looking for a place to get away an have some family fun an you love the outdoors this is the place,
Level site. Just didn’t get mowed for the holiday weekend.
Nice camping areas, nice beach
Campground is always clean and well taken care of. Easy to get in and out of and the shower houses are very well kept. Would definitely recommend, very relaxing and calm.
I love camping and swimming here. It's always so clean in the bathrooms and I really appreciate the time and effort those people put in to make your stay comfortable. They even have showers.
Nice place, big shade sites. 1-38. Most other sites in the sun if your into that. Showers suck. Just a light stream of water. We ussualy visit once a yr. That's because we like going different parks. Our favorite place be starve hollow
Very nice. Ranger pulled so many people over for speeding we practically had a strobe light at our site. No playground close by for children. Spacious sites.
It is winter ready but we enjoyed having the park almost to ourselves! Great places to hike, walk, sit, and enjoy the scenic views!
Awesome park for camping. Big camping areas. Great time
Totally the best camp ground for beauty. Comfort and beautiful scenery. Always meet such nice people camping. Great hookups..in C section. Plenty of room. Not on top of other campers.
Great place! Campground is setup nicely and convenient to everything. We are already planning on going back.
Very nice state park campground. Many sites have full utilities. Campground was very busy\crowded when were there. Many campers also had boats at their sites, which made campground feel even more crowded.
Such beautiful scenery. We had an amazing time!
Bathrooms weren't very good. Really hard to get your camper level if you get it level at all. Beautiful lake very nice beach area.
Beautiful, they just need water and sewer connections to achieve a 5 star rating and a regular water hose at the dump station to flush out black tanks... Nice and spacious park though...
Very nice place. Beach is large and clean. Great place to fish. Nice campgrounds.
Woodland trail could use some maintenance. The trail is already narrow. A lot of places weeds and brush are overtaking the trail, and there were many large trees down on the trail.
One of the best state parks in the area, usually very quiet here with great scenery. Very well maintained overall, although they let some of the trails get a little overgrown in the summer.
This is a very nice park, good hiking trails. A plus, we did not lose cellular signal or data. Makes it a good workation
Nice and clean campsites restrooms well maintained needs more places for trash
Beautiful park, well taken care of by the employees. I wish the patrons picked up after themselves though. Some of the trails have a lot of trash on them.
I always enjoy coming to Mounds Rec area. Sometimes it's a little crowded but the scenery is beautiful and the beach is HUGE. The wake from passing boats makes for nice, gentle surf.
Nice large park, but camp sites are small and most are electric only. Staff are friendly, but not helpful when trying to locate sites, had to cruise around and figure it out on our own.
We went here for some weekend hiking and it was a wonderful area. The only downside we saw was some of the trails were not very well kept so there was a lot of times we had to deviate from the trail to get around fallen trees.
At least once a year, we take our family to visit the beach at Brookville Lake. It's always a great time.
It looked cool. There was 6in snow and the lake was mostly ice
Iv only been here a handful of times but me and my family loved it, Only down fall is there is a good walk from parking to the beach.
Love this place..went 4/29/19 to a little bottom next to the river..looking for morel mushrooms, hit a honey hole of BIG yellows..they have a great beach and tons of stuff to do with the family
Love to fossil hunt here, always a fun day!
Absolutely love this place!!! It's very beautiful and clean would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to camp.
Grat Park, nice camp spots and bath houses
Absolutely beautiful park. The kayaking was wonderful!! Super clean clear water & gorgeous scenery.
It's clean and they have showers and a concession stand and playground and you can rent paddle boards
Been coming here for 10 years. Very nice, well kept campground. Glad to see they're in the process of updating the showerhouses. They were overdue.
Absolutely beautiful atmosphere, plenty of open water for any recreational activities, relatively clean facilities. Entrance fee was $9.00 though.
A great place to camp and chill out.
Really enjoyed the beach with my lil family. Only down fall is the food court mostly only takes cash as their card system is always down!!
Seems to be a nice campground. Really enjoying our time here so far.
Really nice campground, spacious lots.Only problem is they don't really patrol the grounds much and they charge extra just to get in the grounds after you have already paid for camping.
Very nice and relaxing. We've been comeing there since the early 70's, we love it. Very well kept, keep up the good work.
The kids and I really enjoy Brookville lake I go cook they swim we come up and we tailgate then they swim some more
Nice park would stay there again . Little pricey for full hookup. Park charges camping fee and enterence fee for non resident.
Great place for family fun!
Love this park and it’s large beach! Make sure to bring water shoes as there are a lot of rocks in the water.
This place is for kids and adults you can go tobben no big fish will. Not get you and you have a place on a beach not the main one the other ones
Beautiful scenery! Nice spacious camp sites! The kid fishing lake could use some attention.
Nice and clean but very limited sites for tent camping
We had a great time. We will be back
Love the place! It's our go-to place close enough to home to be able to enjoy a great weekend away without a lot of planning or driving.
Nice campground. Not much to do unless you have a boat. All the trails were overgrown, because of all the rain this spring.
I purchased a summer pass! So happy, now my vacation will be all summer at Brookville Lake.
Great place lots to do and staff are friendly
Great day! Kids first trip the lake and beach I'll go back tomorrow! Clean and not at all crowded.
Nice family retreat campground
Most spots are open and several have good shade. We love it there!
Clean beach, polite staff, and great views. The entire experience was peaceful and the family had a great time.
Great campground. Showers and bathrooms are well kept. The beach area is beautiful.
We were actually on the lake. Everyone was friendly and water was nice. For fishing , contaminants right now. But georgeous.
Even though it rain all weekend the campground was nice and the fishing was good
Great stay my vehicle got hit by some drunks driving around, need more security at night. All in all a good time though
Been there many times love the place been fishing hunting in Brookville been to liberty state park been camping in both parks .many times can't say enough .had bouts out on water .
We really enjoyed camping there. Campsites are large and the restrooms are very clean and have been updated.
It was a nice area, but to many rocks in the beach area. Kids were having a hard time trying to walk into the water and hurting their feet
Lots of rock sat shoreline, other than that great place for family fun. Lots of room and shade.
Cleanest lake I have ever been to. Always a great time. Plenty of area.
The beach is a great summer escape.
Love the beach in general just wouldn't suggest you visit on a holiday you will be greatly disappointed especially if you drive a long ways to get there
It was an amazing experience. They trained us before taking to the main tour. They're awesome guys. I strongly recommend this place
The park service employees are great and the park is lovely! It was the people who visit that saddened me. They left their trash around for the parks people to have to tend to.
Camped and went out on my son's boat. The ramp close to the camp ground is very convenient 👌 …
Very nice ,clean, park attendents nice. Big campsites. Going back for sure.
2 miles of woods for the short trail and definitely a wide range of native plants.
They had the beach cleaned and ready to go for everyone to be safe and have fun
Need more to do for children, if u don't own a boat not a lot to do for kids. Play ground is small and out dated.
Family camps here multiple times a year. Great rental campgrounds and fun activities like trick or treat weekend
Nice campground, clean restroom. The people running the campground were especially kind and patient . Had a nice time.
Really nice place but really? $9 per day? I'll stick to Ohio . . . .
Nice trails but the creek had to be waded on Trail 3. Very pretty landscape
We love going to the beach to spend the day. The park is always clean and we'll maintained.
We love going to Mounds Beach it's always clean and we never have any problems with anyone there.
Large spaces nice bath houses lots of area kind of spread out though store is small but nearby Brookville has what you need
Need more full hook ups! Great facility, very busy! Must make reservations 6 months out.
A nice state park with nice size lots. Some of the sites don't have great shade but they are growing trees to get there.
Really good beach and wildlife area and camping. 9 dollar to get in and other little fee. State park should be free
Just beautiful views all around. If you're lucky enough to be a boat. Expect total enjoyment
Life is absent in this time of the season. Still it was a good trail. Beware of ticks and thorns.
Great camping space with nice facilities. Boat dock right on the lake. Smaller hiking trails throughout the place.
Awesome views and a relaxing atmosphere bring a boat or swim suit and enjoy the day!
A nice park with plenty of space between sites with full hook ups. If you don't know the area it's a little hard to find.
We had fun. Picnic and swimming at the beach. Park admission was only a few dollars for a day.
Very nice. Nice beach. Restrooms need fixed up alot
The beach was very nice, pets aren't allowed on the sand though. Trails are nice and well maintained.
Love it, we visit there multiple times a year!
Really nice spot bring food concession stand almost always closed.
It was very clean but they won't let you drive golf carts unless your handicap or over 55 which is ridiculous, and in there rules they don't mention it at all which sucks
Beautiful land and an overall relaxing time. The trails are great!
Unlike Heuston Woods in Ohio this state park is actually taken care of and clean. Just and all around nice get away spot
Great time camping, first time staying on the RV side of the campground, restrooms were very clean.
Great place to mushroom hunting and camp
Great place to camp. Nice wooded sites in the back area. Love the lake.
Difficult to find trailhead..."short loop" poorly maintained. In light of a nine dollar entry fee I would have expected more.
Nice, wide RV camp sites. The grounds are kept nice and pretty quiet.
Nice to get away lived it i ride my Harley out with my kids and my buddys
Had so much fun
Great place to camp at Brookville lake. Clean restroom/shower close to all campsites! Great coffee at the camp store!!
Spent 2wks
Hiking trails were awesome but they are not marked well.
Great place to camp /pic nic / hike a few trails / swim or boat / fishing is great also lots of good camp spots
Enjoyable area. Plenty to do and see. Can't catch a fish to save my life though. Over-fished?
Nice state park camping near Brookville Lake. 23.00 plus fees for electric and water near by.
Great beach and private launch ramp for campers!!!
Nice state park! Big sites and only 9 miles from Brookville canoe liveries.
Would have gave5 stars if there were more trees between sights but other than that we really like the paved full hook up site.
The trees at the campsite were new, so their was not a lot of shade, but the campground was great, no issues.
Clean and well maintained beach and grounds. Great place to bring the kiddos
Great place for family an friends to get together. Everyone should come here an enjoy the views an friendly people here.
Very nice place to camp. DNR is always circling through to make suggestions and wishes for your group.
It's a real nice place to get away for the weekend. Plenty of bath houses.
Not bad little beach... Save for instead of sand, it's dirt and it got muddy every time it got damp.
Family fun. Campground bathrooms were very clean even on a busy holiday weekend
It's a great place for family . Today the lake is ice covered. Was beautiful
Love this park. Camp here couple times a year.
Beautiful part of Brookville lakes
Great!
Always enjoy camping at Mounds State Recreation Area. Nice park with a nice campground.
Love to camp here. The camp ground is neat and clean with a private dock
Beautiful place!! Lots of things to do.
Probably one of our favorite camp locations. Big, clean, easy to get into. Close to the lake.
One of our favorite state parks. Great campground, clean bathrooms.
Relaxing weekend site was sloping so had a hard time getting anything level.
Great place to camp. Just one of the camping grounds around the reservoir at Brookville
Nice camping facilities and a good dock on the lake.
Probably the best campground in Indiana as far as Size of campground and and opportunities .
Love camping here, but they stopped doing the haunted trail for Halloween- stupid move
Great Campground. Had a Great spot !!! Fantastic weekend with Fantastic people !!
Lori the gate attendant was very friendly and helpful. Great place to camp!!!
Love going here a lot of family memories.
We were in the middle campground. It was quiet and perfect for a relaxing weekend.
Great place to camp everyone was friendly and clean restrooms
Great park. Beach was a welcoming thing outside of smoking, wild teens and disrespectful adults.
Great place to camp. It has plenty of trails and easy access to Brookville lake
Hate how rocky the sand is but other than that is a great beach!
Good fun fun an everyone helps keep the beach clean
Remind you of being in Florida in the ocean, except you don't have to worry about the sharks or anything eating you
Best beach around. Clean and lots of waves. I won't go anywhere else.
Nice place for camping clean and the shower area and bathrooms are real clean
We celebrated mother's day here lot's of fun 7$ to get in for instate residents
Great place to swim. 7 dollar admission per car. 👍 …
Very beautiful trails though a few are a little behind on maintenance.
Large campsites, very peaceful and great beach area.

Had a wonderful time with family can't wait until next year
Very nice camping destination. Large camp sites and very clean park.
Would be better if people would stop littering. We have to do better than this.
Had a LARGE TIME !!!! Great campground ,although we were robbed by racoons LOL !!! All was good.
Great camping, friendly staff, would love larger camp sights
Loved the camp sight. Halloween was a blast, haunted trail and dressing up the campsights.
Nice place to fish but be sure to bring your boat.
Beautiful and clean!
Bathrooms in electric area were nasty. They need power washed.
The mounds is an awesome campground close to Cincinnati we love it.
