The family had a pitch in meal here and I have never been to this park but lemme tell you, there's a good amount of stuff to do here with your family. There's swimming, fishing, and my favorite, the quaintest little petting zoo. Most of the animals look taken care of, my concern was the cow with how thin it looked but I'm not knowledgeable on cows so I didn't ask much. For your next spring or summer family gathering or whatever event, this park is great. Most of the shelters even have electric hookups.

What a gem. This park is well known to the locals because of it's pristine parks, beautiful lake, and clean camping grounds. There are several playgrounds situated around the park. Bug spray needed mid summer if your using the playground or shelter house near the lake. Mosquitos are heavy in that area. In the summer the lake has a sand beach swimming area open to the public with a lifeguard on duty. You can rent canoes and paddle boats by the hour with life preservers if you have some adventurous kids with lots of energy.

The campground is nice and spacious with most sites having a mix of sun and shade. The campground has options for very long campers, and several sites have views of the beautiful lake. I found the park to be clean and safe. The 4 star review could be 5 stars if the campground restrooms were upgraded to the level of the entrance restrooms/shower house. Buffalo Trace is a nice park with many options for activities. The fireworks show at Pal-Wow this year was incredible!

This is a very nice park . They have two cabins that are able to be rented very reasonable rates. Very clean inside. There is a nice kitchen with full set of dishes and cook where. Microwave, toaster oven countertop stove 4 burner handicap accessible as well as kitchen sink. Both are electric powered and can be lowered and elevated. They have both primitive sites and setup for campers their entire camp facility is very clean and kept up. You can see wildlife pass through the campground day and night. Rabbits squirrels ,Deer , raccoons, native. There is a really nice Beach area and a playground is well on the property. It is also very close to other amenities a Dollar general within less than a mile. There are also a couple of gas stations. Campsites have nice steel burn pits with heavy grills. You can buy bundles of wood from them or bring your own. Firewood is not to be removed from grounds or wooded area. Campground workers and other patrons were all very polite. This site is highly recommended.

Very nice clean park. We stayed over the labor day weekend and the place was packed. 50 & 30 amp service as well as water hookups. Some of the sites were a little on the small size but we were in site 73 along the wood line and it was a decent size and shaded. We didnt take advantage of the rest of the parks amenities but there was paddle boat rental, a beach, and a petting zoo. Very nice for small children.

Overall had a very nice time..notice they are looking for help also..so the grass wasn't maintained and they didn't clean bathrooms or fill up soaps..but the lake was still beautiful and even seen baby geese and a owl..

It's a great park in the middle of Palmyra. Lots of play equipment for the kids and Tons of trees for shade. There is a petting zoo, was closed when I got there, and a big pond for fishing and kayaking. There is a beach, which was closed, that has paddle boats for rent. Looks like there is a camp group on the other side of the park and a ton of grassy area to run and play. Awesome park and well worth the visit.

Love this place! A good place to swim and take pictures. If you get there early before and around 9am you can get in for free. The lifeguards are friendly and take their job seriously. It usually gets pretty busy around noon and 1pm. If you're looking for a peaceful morning this is the place to go.

Nice clean park to spend the day. They have camping, playgrounds, shore fishing, boat rental (paddle, row, kayak and canoe) and a beach area. There is a charge to get into the park, $7 for a non Harrison county resident and surprisingly there was also a $5 per person charge if you wanted to use the beach and swim in the lake. Lots of shaded areas to relax, nice paved trail around the lake and a small petting zoo.

This is a beautiful park in a rural setting in southern Indiana. It has a reasonably sized lake. You can rent a paddle boat or a canoe by the half day or full day. There is a swimming area with a beach, but pets are not allowed on the beach. They also have a petting zoo that is free with paid admission to the park. They offer a campground with electric hook ups and also have a few cabins to rent. There are several playgrounds and shelter areas. It is absolutely beautiful in the fall.

My family visits every summer to stay in the cabin and go to the beach. The cabins are very well-maintained as is the beach. Lifeguards are on duty and perform their jobs with professional training. I look forward to coming back next year and many years ahead.

Super fun park. It’s low key. Has a lot of activities for children. Paddle boats , kayaks, softball field , basketball, petting zoo, etc. it’s also cheap to get in. We go every year for a family outing and this park has never let us down

Nice small park. Fishing docks are great, but lake has a lot of weeds and fish were small. Perfect for taking a kid fishing, just don't expect monster fish.

I’m here now…but I don’t know where things are located. This is a relatively big place. When I came in I was asked for $5 (not knowing this was more than a park as the sign indicates “Buffalo Trace Park”) & wasn’t given any information. It would be really beneficial if they handed out a simple map of the grounds & what the park offers. I’m alone & I don’t know where to go to rent a canoe or cabin. Is there an info center that I missed? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Beautiful park! Awesome camp ground but be careful some trees need removed. Some spots and just driving thru certain areas can cause tree damage if your not paying very close attn. Petting zoo is awesome. Fishing wasn't very good.

A clean and gorgeous park. There's a lake for kayaking, canoeing, swimming, and fishing. It also has a great disc golf course. It's difficult, but is clean and well maintained with concrete tee pads. The lake has a concrete path that circles the lake and makes for a fantastic place for the evening runs with nice scenery.

Many great experiences at this park. Camping (modern and primitive), beach on the lake, petting zoo, disc golf, among others. This previous stay, my family and I stayed in one of their rental cabins. Cabin 1 was very nice and much bigger than I expected. It is handicap accessible. My biggest issue is that the beds were not comfortable. Everything else is nearly perfect. The gentleman that checked us in and out was very friendly. I just wish it had been warmer during our stay.

Campground and Pretty lake with great walking track all around it. Disc golf. Several playgrounds for the kids. In summer there is a beach with swimming.Only reason for 4 stars is some of the turns if you have a long TT are almost impossible to make. Water and electric and a dump station.

The views are beautiful, the beach was great.So much to do and see. Kids really enjoyed the petting zoo. They have paddle boats, canoes, and kayaks with reasonable prices. We got couple bonuses with the car show and live music. The greatest thing was the employees. One made my family's day. Chase is a 17yr young man that went above and beyond . I was so impressed and have so much respect for Chase. 2 ducks that are a team one with a limp the other with a fish hook in his neck which had my grandsons, granddaughter,daughter's, wife, etc so upset and this awesome young man took control of the situation and the two white ducks headed off together without the fish hook. This is from a father of two daughters and you can only hope when she brings that guy home he's half the man Chase showed his self to be. I raised 3 great men also and kinda thought that was the end of a Era but Chase gave me hope.

Great place to take the kids,, grandkids, and pets.. Haven't done well fishing here so far, but I'm sure they're in there. It's only a matter of time before I figure out the geography of the lake and be able to find the bite with more consistency.

The grandkids and the dogs really enjoyed the park. Nicely done, nice campground, the lake and paddle boat rentals looked nice. We didn't go to the beach as we had the dogs and admission was extra. The kids liked the petting zoo area though the goats didn't like the kids. When all was done and we were leaving I asked the 4 year old what he enjoyed the most, and his answer was a cookie some little girl gave him. This park is a very nice resource for the county.

I have many experiences here during teenage years and this park is still fun. Plenty of places to walk, camp, and fish. 4 stars due to lack of maintenance on playground equipment or atleast updating it.

I grew up fishing and swimming here at the park. It’s beautiful, it’s clean, a great place to camp, however the beach has been closed for YEARS even though it’s gorgeous! They don’t have any life guards or staff to work the concession stand. The website is not updated showing it’s closed because the lady who maintains the website is 6 months behind or so I was told by the staff when my family showed up ready to swim. This place is gorgeous and truly just needs to hire people to maintain the website, work the beach, and concessions. If they got it together they could blow deams lake out of the water.

Excellent stay. Very affordable cabin rentals. Very quiet and serene. A lot of wildlife in the area. A big owl came and sat on a limb in the yard and watched us. Deer running around. A red tailed hawk flew around all day. The only problem was that during the week there is nothing to do. The petting zoo is closed, no boat rentals, no nothing.

A good park for families but we noticed that some of the facilities were starting to show their age and were in need of maintenance. To be fair, that maintenance is in progress right now and will continue throughout the summer, I'm sure. Playground areas in the back of the park between the lake and the ball field were not mowed. The tennis courts and basketball courts we saw were also kind of out of the way and appeared underused. The lake is beautiful and we saw several people fishing. The swimming beach looked very inviting on a 90 degree day like today but was not open yet. As for the campground, I would call it very tight and hard to maneuver a camper into any of their spots. Finding a site that is level both front-to-back and side-to-side would be nearly impossible. Also, many of the spots are very short. They might accommodate a short small pop-up or Teardrop trailer but not a regular trailer unless you unhooked and then there would be no place to park your tow vehicle. My wife and I have decided that we will take a pass on Buffalo Trace as a camping location.

It's a nice park. Nice lake and beach. The reason I gave 3 stars is even though your paying to camp here they still charge each person to use the beach and also charge you an extra 7.00 for you to for the vehicle your pulling your camper with. In my opinion if your paying to camp then then the beach should free and don't think they should charge you extra for for the vehicle your towing your camper with.

Noise from the road really takes away from the primitive camping spots. Love the different park activities and multiple playgrounds for our daughter. Some of the playground equipment is run down and not safe. Too much trash left behind by others... come on people, what is the matter with you!

Water at all sites, pavement at all sites and easy access around the camp grounds. Beautiful setting. Definitely worth a trip. There is a Dollar General not 1 minute from the park. Also, there is only 1 dump station so there is usually a wait when you are leaving. Absolutely a wonderful place to camp.

Great place to camp and hang out with family! We camped 2 nights. We loved renting some kayaks and walking the trails. Next time we plan on bringing our bikes. The sites are very uneven, so come prepared with lots of boards. The bathrooms were okay. They did the job. The staff is super nice!

Stayed here June 22-24, 2019. The park is wonderful and was very clean. The kids enjoyed the playground and taking trips around the lake on the paved path. The website is not updated and does not mention at all the fact that the entire place is under renovation with mud everywhere, and poor drainage. There was rain the previous days and with all the standing water mosqitos were unbearable. The petting zoo and swim beach are both closed, which were two of the main attractions for us with younger kids. This should be clearly posted on the website when you make a reservation. The staff was friendly, the sites themselves were very nice with paved back-ins and lots of shade. Not every site had a fire pit though and water pressure was somewhat weak. We will definitely come back, but not until all the renovations are complete and the place is back in full operation. The rates aren’t bad if everything is working, but I feel they should be discounted until the place is back to full service.

I've camped here all seasons a bunch of times. Scenic, clean, well-maintained, quiet. Trees, lake, walking path, playgrounds. My favorite spot...especially when I want to bug out to some place close to Louisville and easy to manage. Dump station and wash house are bonuses.

Not all amenities that you go to the park for, are open, like swimming on a 95' day. Needed a first aid kid and the boat house, the main white building you walk up and the lifegaurd shed was locked so no first aid kid to be found. Luckily a worker kid had some gauze and tape in his car to help with bloody situation. Beautiful place in Harrison County.

Aside from the grounds needing attention, the park is a beautiful setting with ducks and geese, a petting zoo, playground, fantastic walking path around the large pond and very scenic. It also has a beautiful and reasonably priced camp ground and people fish in small boats.

Close to where I live so its nice little getaway to enjoy nature and the lake.Lots of things you can do from rental cabins,boating,fishing, hiking , a small pet farm with few different animals (cant say when it open/closed but always can watch. ll in all it's a good little place to escape and explore.. if you're fishing , beware the many turtles..caught more of them then fish at the shore:( .. UPDATE: unless you rent a cabin you cant stay after dark and most the lake is full of moss and turtles but the small potting zoo was open and there was several people renting Padleboats,canoes, ect. Cost $7 or so to enter unless.. Update: have to leave park unless you pay to stay overnight,

Had a big birthday party here. It's beautiful! Especially the lakeside shelter. Unfortunately, it stormed the whole time. Not their fault! There are ducks on the lake. We enjoyed throwing them bread. Some people may not like them close.

Very nice place for a family reunion. They have several shelter houses with electricity and bathrooms. There is a paved walking path, the kids love to ride their bikes there. There is a small petting zoo. There is also a beach and showers.

We camped at spot number 14. The lake is beautiful and the park is very nice well-maintained and clean. The bathrooms were typical campground bathrooms. Nothing to write home about. There were a lot of campers and a lot of children on bikes and scooters. I wouldn't describe it as a quiet place to camp, but definitely a great family campground. They don't provide firewood, but they sell it for $5 in change and you get a pretty good amount of it. They do provide kindling. They have vending machines for drinks but nothing for snacks. There is a Dollar General literally next door to the property if you forget anything.

Beautiful place for anything you can think to do! We come here every year for family reunions and for our random family days out! Many places to play for kids beautiful lake with many things to do in it! Camping is one thing we haven’t done there yet but plan to very soon!

I always enjoy staying at the Buffalo Trace campground. The park is very well maintained and has lighted walking paths. What I don't like about it is that on weekdays no one man's the ticket booth and rates are not clearly posted. The men's room toilet on my second day staying here, broke and was still unfixed the next day.

This is nice park that is very family-oriented and has various things to do like grilling, playgrounds, sports, walking/running on a paved trail, swimming, kayaking, etc. My favorite part is the petting zoo that looks small but has more animals than I expected including calves, ponies, peacocks, pigs and chicks. The petting zoo is only open on the weekends at this time according to the men working with the animals, but they saw my son and I were watching so they let us in and talked about the animals they had and ones who were coming soon. We greatly appreciated that! The only drawbacks I saw to this park were that the beach area looks really small (this being one of the closest places to Louisville to swim in a lake I'm sure it gets crowded) and some activities like the petting zoo, beach, and boat rentals should be open daily before Memorial Day because the weather around here gets hot long before that.

Love the campground! Cannot wait to return when it’s finished. BUT, something has to be done about the mosquitoes and flies... I came home with SIXTEEN mosquito bites... and I was only there for a few hours. And that’s with bug spray. And the flies during the day are awful. But it has amazing potential and I will give it another shot.

It's a great park to visit on a nice day. It's got a pond, a few playgrounds, and trails to walk. The Marry-go-Round could use a bit of oil, though.

Buffalo Trace is great park to go visit they have about any thing for anybody. They have basketball courts, tennis courts, horse shoe pits, several swing sets merry go around, multiple slide sets. Camping which I guess the price is acceptable for being the only one around that area. Fishing is good just have to search for them. They have freebie golf course. A walking path all the way around the lake 1.3 miles around. Swimming is good they have a diving board life gaurds and take breaks for the kids to get out the water and concessions for people to get thing. The host the Pow Wow every year where they have live bands food trucks car show and also a glow run before the fireworks. The only thing I would change is bring some dirt in and fill in low spots where when it rains quit a bit it floods certain areas and makes it difficult to get to parts of the park.

I love this place this is the best campsite, I grew up going to this campsite when I was 10 years old and it was the best time of my life I still love going to it today and it's a clean Park they update the park the swim area and everything they even got a little zoo this place is awesome fishing when I was little growing up here my dad taught me how to fish and that was a fun time of my life.

Awesome place to take your family. They have a very accessible lake to fish and they have a roped off area for swimming. They also have row boat rentals and a camping area... Last but not least, they have a small petting zoo that is fenced off and it's free...

A great park for camping either with a tent or the largest of rvs. I've been going here since I was a kid and the park has greatly improved over the years. A great place to swim in the summer or to drop your kids off for a cross country walk in the winter.

Love Buffalo Trace Park! It's great for a picnic, barbeque, AND has plenty of play areas for the kids!!! Nice paved trails with some hills, but nothing too steep. Not to mention frisbee golf and a animal sanctuary where you can go pet the animals! I forgot they also have camping!

This is a lovely little county park that is doing big things. They have recently revamped campsites and amenities to be on par with some of the larger state parks. Complete with campsites, lake, and a beach, this place has something for everyone.

Better let things settle. Usually a wonderful park but they are replacing all of the water lines so with this rain it is a muddy mess. They need to sow grass seed and place straw. All but 7 of the frisbee golf goals were under water.

Park has a nice bathhouse and the park was clean. The mosquitos were not an issue during our stay. I’m excited to see the renovated beach area next year when we return.

The Buffalo Trace Park and Campground near Palmyra Indiana you beautiful place with a beautiful lake with great potential, but seems to be suffering from perhaps under-management and is a little under maintained. Google Places currently has this location a little confused with the Buffalo Trace Park about 77 miles west. The Buffalo Trace campground I am referring to in this case is a little north of Corydon, IN. The restrooms are okay but in need of updating and a little more maintenance. The Beautiful lake does offer concessions, swimming, canoe rentals and paddle boat rentals . There is a beautiful paid for walking path around the lake and there are several hiking trails through the woods in the area. There is also a very well put together disc golf course on this property. There is talk of new management going into place for the Harrison County group and I hope that it makes a positive influence soon. The picture I have included is reserved parking spots for managers only, closest to the swimming area. This is not consistent with good management practice in my opinion.
