For 2 weeks every August, We get the pleasure of spending time with our Iowa State fair friends and family. It’s a great feeling, being surrounded by people who love the fair as much as you do.

Although I/we, dearly love this place, we can't understand why only ONE drive/entrance and the poor traffic management, enforcement of parking in roadways.

We're here now for two nights...very nice camp hosts! Don't follow Google maps to find the campgrounds. Come south on 30th street about 4 lights..then left on Dean. Go about 8/10ths of a mile .past gate 5 to the fairgrounds..then left up a hill to the checkin station. It's $32 a night for full hookups. There are hundreds of sites here...many water and electric only..very few are level so be prepared to figure that out. Once you pay...you drive to find and claim your site.. No need to register further. At this time..Memorial day weekend..only o e bath house is open and it was likely last updated maybe in the 70s Bottom line...it's quiet..some train horns..and appears safe. We'd return but know more about it now.

I was not there I just looked at the website. However based on Governor Kim Reynolds's statements stating " I'm loving it" and " people are so happy to be here". Sounds like it was fun for people to get out in the community by walking around, eating, people watching, games, rides etc.

Stayed 4 nights for the Good Guys car show. Bathrooms were clean and well kept. Really appreciated the extra attention to them to combat the spread of Covid. Overall condition of the grounds was maintained and clean. Great experience!

Love the experience every year. Great place to create a family tradition. I do miss hearing paper in the morning though. I also appreciate that they listen to opinions of campers and brought back the tractors in both directions.

Happy that it was open. Good place to stay for the night and our way through Iowa. Call for directions because Google Maps sent us through the fairgrounds and ended up at a locked gate.

Huge park, very few level sites. BIG bathhouse. Nice that livestock trailers park far away. We were charged for full hook-up but we only use electric. No discounts for veterans, seniors, in-State residents. Very noisy, World Pork Fair week

Camp here for the Good Guys car show every year. Easy in and out. Alot of spaces available to suit your needs. Easy entrance to the fairgrounds is a plus. Friendly family place.

In need of some updates. Entrance/Exit is joke, no reason a temporary 3 way stop couldn't be put up during fair time. For the amount of revenue campers generate each year and have for generations in many cases, they are shown little respect and absolutely no appreciation by the fairboard. Seems that every year prices go up, space gets smaller and rules get stricter. Would be great to see some bath house renovations and electrical/sewer connection upgrades.

There doing alot of maintaining the original beauty of old Iowa State Fair. Reconstruction still going on looking forward to see the end product. I think this year parking will be even better

We were lucky and had a friend park us in a good spot at the campground. Showers seemed to be in very short supply in overfoiw camping. The worst was some moron brought and ran an extremely loud generator! These just ruin the experience for everyone. Can thecfair designate max decibles allowed?

This place hold a special spot in my heart. For over 40 years my family had been camping in the same spot. If you have not witnessed the campground during fair time then you are missing out. It becomes a mini city with RVs tightly packed in. Camping during the Iowa State Fair makes the fair a while other experience. You can take a break from the crowds, make your own meals, drink your own drink, and spread out the fair going experience. Campers are typically the ones sitting on park benches, because they don't have to cram everything into one day. Instead they can people watch and get good seats for free entertainment, watch judging events, and avoid gut rot by spreading out their must have food items over the course of several days. The tradition of camping at the Iowa State Fair is something I hope to continue passing down from generation to generation.

We needed an emergency RV spot and this was it. As they were between events it was fine, but during an event it would be packed and crazy. Prices were average. Parking on grass is always iffy, and this was a bit soft.

Beautiful rolling hills campground. Very pretty and green. Very helpful host. Over 2000 spots but very unlevel. Not advertised and very hard to find. Need better directions.

We enjoy using the ISF Campground with friends. They have many full hookups and it's a quiet place to sit and visit, when the fair is not going.

Honestly a terrible campgrounds. Any decent spot is reserved months in advance and the rest of it is a hilly nightmare. Gets a few stars for nostalgia.

Lots of parking areas, but Not many level spots, but very limited for big rigs with 50 amp service and no full hook ups
