Reviews of REI
Broncoboy2020
First time at this location and I loved it! What an awesome layout for a store. The building is so inviting and rustic. You could literally get lost in this place! Amazing people, amazing products an adventure in itself. If you think it's gonna be a quick trip think again. Plan for an entire afternoon and bring the family! I know I'll be back! Thank you for the experience.

Large outdoors store with many services such as bicycle repair and snowboard waxing. They even have test facilities such as a dirt track for bikes and a climbing area. The options for sports and camping products include pricey brand names like Patagonia and more affordable REI-brand products. I love my REI cooler - It’s great quality and much cheaper than similar coolers by YETI. Expect to pay a high price if you want long-lasting material, even in the clearance section. The used (or returns) section can be very cheap, but make sure to read the tag for a description on why it was returned or on sale. Sometimes, it’s something as simple as “used once and returned for wrong size” and other times it could be “zipper is broken.” The staff is very knowledgeable and can help you with anything. Need tips on climbing shoes? They can help. Want to purchase camping gear specifically for summer season? They’ll explain the right products for that. There are parking lots and an underground garage that are free for the first two hours.

Every outdoor item you would ever need for any activity. Good mix of style and funtion. By high quality item once. Lots if little corners to explore. No shortage of anything fully stocked. Crowded store but large enough store to get space. Fast checkout even though line looked long. Moved quick. Cheaper options elsewhere
Chris Parker
This has got to be one of the coolest REIs I’ve ever been too! The floor plan is multiple stories and crosses what seems to be an entire city block.
I originally came in with a friend looking for some athletic shorts and shirt for a game, yet, we ended up spending a couple of hours here.
The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. This location also has its own rock climbing wall and is centrally located to downtown.

Don't go to this store, you'll want to buy everything, and you probably can't.
I'm kidding of course, this flagship REI is simply beautiful! The building, an old warehouse is fascinating from the inside, and everything you could want at an REI is here. They even have things that you didn't know existed but wished did exist because they would make your life easier.
And the staff is extremely friendly!
The only negative is that I imagine is the price is prohibitive to many, and I believe everyone should have access to some level of outdoor gear.
Shingo S. Ishida
This flagship store of REI is just a wonder of a building and helpful staff. The floors and so MANY sections and departments to satisfy any outdoorsy need or want. Prices may seem a bit high or expensive for some items, but half of the fun at shipping in this place is to find the bargains (hint: there is a Clearance section, as well a small nook with gently-used, very newly -returned items that have been discounted because they are not "new." I love the cyclist section and the tracks with all the freeze-dried, insta-meal options. And the architecture/design of the building is very pleasing as well. Including the climbing wall! Just a fun, top-notch place to shop by yourself or with your family. Free parking up to 90 minutes on adjacent lot of lot across Platte St. Recommended!
Josh Jaarsma
Always a wonderful place to pick up my outdoors gear. I’m particularly fond of the REI garage where I can get sweet deals on lightly used items. Parking seems crazy but it always works itself out if you have patience.
Jake Waters
This store has everything, including a rock climbing wall! You can get lost exploring this vast store and will certainly find something you need or want.
sabrina ferrell
Expensive, but a super fun place to visit right by the water! They also have a “garage sale” section for discounted items which is very nice. The store itself is almost like a museum, big with multiple levels, and lots to see! Great for families and just about anyone else - grab some healthy snacks at the store too and sit by the river to enjoy a sunny day and the sound of running water - all right in downtown Denver!
Free parking for 2 hours is also a plus!

If your visiting Denver and an outdoor enthusiast, you must visit this REI. The building in itself is breathtaking. Staff is always super helpful and knowledgeable about the products. You'll find all your camping and outdoor needs here
Erik Borrell
This location is seriously cool. Even if you don't need anything it's worth the visit. In an old power company building with much of the same or orginal architecture. If it has to do with the outdoors you'll find it here. Camping, fishing, hiking, skiing, rock climbing(oh yeah, there's a rock climbing wall inside the store), survival gear, and glamping must haves. I could spend days upon days here. Parking is actually pretty good considering the location. Starbucks on site. Bookstore. And places to sit relax and take note of how good life is.
Ashley Zimmerman
I always have a great experience with the sales associates here. Since I moved to Colorado, I’ve been purchasing some big ticket outdoor gear. Since I have little experience, I appreciate the sales associates in each section of the store that help me choose quality items within my budget. Shout out to Mark last night for assisting this novice in choosing a backpacking backpack! He was kind, informative and patient.
Logan Carpenter
This is one of the coolest shops in Denver and a must-visit for anyone interested in outdoor activities. It's a beautiful building, always clean and well-stocked, and the free 90 minute parking means I can always easily find a parking spot unlike many other destinations around Denver.
The staff is always knowledgeable, friendly and helpful, even though you might have a bit of a wait behind the other folks being helped. I'm very familiar from my own work experience that good service from people who are actually interested in helping takes time, and often means being a little patient so other people can get the service they deserve.
Big thanks to all the folks in the snow sports section, especially Garrett, who was able to help me with boots and bindings late in the day during the busy season, and give me some great advice from personal experience about what I would be happy with.
I figured business would be a little slower late in the day at this time of year, but they didn't hold that against me and were still able to help me out.
I've been coming here ever since I was a kid, and it has firmly cemented REI in my mind as the best general outdoor sports shop, especially this location. It's still valuable to visit smaller businesses that specialize in certain areas, but the location of this shop makes that super easy, since there are tons of local outdoor sports business around Denver.
I'm so thankful this shop exists, and I really appreciate the way REI runs their business. I always feel welcome and valued as a customer, and like their goal is to provide value to their customers rather than maximizing my value to them as a customer. It's rare to find that these days, and this is one of those diamonds in the rough.
Hanan Ramadan
Very cool and collects all land and marine needs, shoes, sports clothes, and the workers are very wonderful and the arrangement is very organized..Good Luck

Tom, in the shoe department, downtown Denver.was outstanding both in his customer care and knowledge. I hiked last week in the San Juan range in SW Colorado at altitude. My feet were killing me...I was not certain I could make it back to the trailhead. I had hiked in my boots on several occasions, but nothing that far or at that altitude gain and decent.
Upon his consultation and measurements of my feet he recognized that not only was I in an incorrect size, but the brand and model were totally wrong for my feet characteristics. REI downtown Denver did not have my preferred color. I asked him if I could find a way to make certain he got credit, he responded "no we don't work on commission ". I let him know I live in Colorado Springs and he encouraged me to check with the REI store there or go online. Just further assurance that he was more concerned about what I needed and wanted than he was in making the sell.
I am telling you he was inspiring to me!
Oh BTW. COLORADO SPRINGS store does have exactly what I want and need! I will pick them up tomorrow!
BRAVO to Tom!
Thanks REI!
Amar
Have spent way too much money here but I don’t regret it.
Lines are insanely long and you are better off doing online pickup.
REI constantly impresses me with their customer service. If you are a novice to the outdoors they will take their time to educate you.
No one pressured you to buy stuff and upstairs discount section and the retuned goods is full of hidden gems for cheap!
Definitely check it out beautiful Store and close to the Platte River for a walk after shopping.
Alan Hunt
This is an awesome shop with a great used and clearance section and everything else outdoorsy you could hope for. What’s more important is the quality (and quantity!) of the staff. Each department has very knowledgeable members there to help you make an informed decision for buying the right gear. Shoutout to Brandon in the climbing section for helping me buy my first pair of bouldering shoes!
Emilie Gunn
My boyfriend and I recently moved to Denver from Ohio and needed to stock up on camping gear for the season. We were impressed by the store itself but most impressed by Gordon. He gave us all the best tips, tricks, & recommendations we could’ve asked for. It was clear Gordon is not only knowledgeable but has the customer’s best interest at heart. Best REI we’ve been to yet!
Enigma
I love shopping here for all my outdoors (and some indoors!) Sports and camping needs. Their membership program is absolutely worth it!!!
John Kennedy
Really cool REI location. It wasn’t super easy to get help, but once I found an associate who was willing to help, she was incredibly kind and did try to find me exactly what I was looking for. I think moving forward I will go back to shopping online at REI but I liked the area a lot so I might do in store pickup instead of getting it shipped to my place.
Şehmus Akbaş
The bike department in this branch is my favorite. When I was looking to buy a 3.1 the big guy in the department was very helpful (very tall guy, sorry bro I forgot your name). And yesterday I had a flat, which was taken care of by another young tall gentleman I believe whose name is Jason(?). New tire, new tube. I love mountain biking but I hate servicing it myself so he helped explain some nuances and recommendations.
Overall, great building with great view of the water, great team of workers and great ethics of customer experience. Although REI’s slightly more expensive than some other shops, I go and will continue to go there for the feeling that I’m not being screwed, I’m cared and being given options, not pushed to purchase/do transactions.
Connor Reitz
This REI location is amazing. They have an entire pump track to test bikes, and it’s fun to just wander through the giant store. I highly recommend you visit this location if you plan on visiting an REI.
Kevin Lyons
Such a cool store. Easy to spend way too much money on awesome outdoor gear. Very knowledgeable staff.
Joshua Weatherstone
I have to give a shout out to John for his knowledge and unparalleled customer service when shopping for ski equipment the past two days. I purchased a significant amount of new gear on his recommendations and during the process observed a different customer stop to thank him for advice on ski equipment a year prior. John set me up well for the next decade of skiing and I have so much appreciation for him and his expert advice.
Kendall Naas
I would like to shoutout Tina from REI Denver. She was an absolute gem! She made our time there so incredible. It is very hard to come by good customer service these days but Tina is proof that there are still amazing people out there who care about the customer and not just there for a job!
Steven Ziegelheim
Amazing store. You could get lost in the there for hours. Flthis is definitely my new go to for any gear needs. Everything is on display to visualize, try and experience before you buy, which is super important when buying something that you’re going to take out miles away from civilization. Also a sick bike test track
Andrew Marker
Felt like I was in a giant ski shop/lodge. They were getting the store refitted for winter sports.
Sharmayne Hinkle
THEY WERE GREAT!! Got signed up for a membership and now I get free tire repair FOR LIFE!!! AND 10% OFF deals on Tires and accessories. I went in 45 min before they Closed and they had had my bike done in 15 min.!!!!!
I LOOK FORWARD TO GOING BACK !!
David Antoniolli
Great service! Helped select and fit new boots with custom molded liners, bindings and skis. Made my winter equipment refresh a breeze.
Brian Baker
Beautiful store and very friendly staff! There are at least 4 floors, a climbing wall, a large fireplace, plus riverside viewing and paddleboarding area. They cover nearly all outdoor sport genres and sell clothing, gear, and sporting equipment. There's a clearance section on the top floor near the kids' section and mini-play area. Parking is mostly underground and does cost if you stay longer than 2 hours. Unfortunately, prices here are generally expensive compared to online shops, though its nice to feel items' quality before purchasing.
Josh Hepp
Bought ski boots recently from rei, and went back and forth if I should go here or somewhere else. I’m so glad that I did, it was a great experience. I’m very confident with skiing abilities but I am very unconfident with buying gear: it’s spendy, confusing, too many options. Val worked with me to try on boots that fit my foot and explained why and what we were doing. She crushed it and just wanted to shoot her out.
Karlee Gailey
Great experience. Georgie and Renee were super informative & helpful with getting me fitted for ski boots. Would definitely recommend them and this location!
Rosalee Gelski
Looking at all the raving reviews and wondering why everytime I go in an REI, I'm invisible. The latest trip, I had to return some shoes that were entirely inappropriate (which resulted in injury) (and that's a different story). I walked past so many employees that would glance at me and say nothing. I clearly didn't know where I was going but I guess I'm not athletic enough to warrent an acknowledgement. It's interesting that the slogan on the side of the building said "Imagine if EVERYONE felt welcome outside"
Maybe you should try making people welcome inside your store. I wish this was in isolated event, but everytime I try to get something without my husband present, I feel unseen and unimportant.
The ONLY reason I give it 3 stars is 1. because of Shannon in the show department who helped me but didn't pressure me into getting stuff I dont need, who helped me find an appropriate shoe.
2. It is a really cool historical building and my daughter loves it there.
See you the next time someone drags me in.
Tyler Moreau
Massive REI, has everything you can think of! One downside was definitely a general understaffing in some areas. This poor guy is the footwear area was literally running to grab the shoes for the 15 people that were asking him for different shoes sizes and colors.
Matthew Morgan
What an amazing shopping experience. The outside of the building contains very little branding from REI and instead focuses on the history behind the large structure. Inside, its wall to wall and floor to ceiling of high quality adventure goodies. Staff was very knowledgeable (probably the most out of any REI associates I have interacted with) and eager to provide support. Absolutely a must visit location for any outdoorsy person.
Alma Salinas
This is by far the coolest REI I've been too! Customer service was fantastic and my toddler had a blast in store! Its unique and the atmosphere was definitely one of a kind!
Jon Gunter
It’s a great store with great employees, but expect to spend 15-20 minutes parking and sitting in traffic just to get in. It’s a metaphor for doing anything outdoorsy in Colorado…crowds, traffic, and limited parking.
Quinlan Ferber
Beautiful building converted into a mega REI. With multiple levels you can find everything you need and more. I came for climbing shoes and was able to test them on their own rock wall! Prices are reasonable for the quality of product!
Daniel Weiser
Taylor at the ski shop really helped me out and helped fix my bindings and was incredibly knowledgeable about boards as well.
Carlos Ramirez
I know it's a only store but what an amazing store. It's an outdoorperson's wonderland. Hyuuge, nicely organized space hosted by attentive staff who know their stuff. All willing to help until you're satisfied. Oh, theirs a real Starbucks inside for a break from wondering around this cool space. There's plenty of parking. First two hours are free. Go over a 10-15minutes and it will cost you $5. It's ok that a small price to get the proper fit. Have a couple of hours to spare in Denver? Then I recommend a visit to this monument dedicated to outdoor sports and adventure.
Michael Coronite
The staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I will always go here to get my stuff for the great outdoors!
Darryl K-M
This is going to sound dorky but it’s like Disneyland for adventurous adults. With each isle there’s new adventure possibilities. I love the downtown store as it has the largest selection and they have a play area for kids on the third store.
Tip: on the weekends traffic can be impossible, they have an overflow lot that’s still free, and you can stay longer than two hours without paying that’s south of the store. If you skip the Speer exit and get off on 23rd you can drive past the aquarium and the lot is on your left(west) side of the road.
Ellie Carriere
A must visit if you’re in Denver! My husband needed a hiking pack so we stopped in! We walked here, as it is very walk and bike accessible.
We were surprised to find an enormous set up for any and every outdoor activity you can dream of! I camp and hike so I was happily at home.
**Staff was helpful in finding a pack to fit my large framed husband.**
Everyone was helpful and went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of.
K.C. Russell
The building at this location is absolutely incredible. I wasn't super happy with the selection (there were 3 shorts that offered buttons) in women's shorts. I thought the 15 minute wait at the register was a bit obnoxious at 10am on a Friday. This is by far the most poorly managed REI I have ever visited and sadly it's their flagship store.
Meredith Steele (meredithislostincolorado)
The big daddy REI. They have EVERYTHING. Including a whole plus size section, something other REIs sorely lack. Even if you're not interested in buying anything, the architecture of this building is GORGEOUS and a must-see. Free parking up to 2 hours, which is plenty of time to dink around, shop, climb the rock wall, and have a coffee next door.
Rhidian Orr
Came in on the last day of the sale. Gordon was amazing got me my seven items within 20 minutes. It is a wonderful wonderful place to shop.
Maria Teresa Ackerman
I was excited to visit REI for the first time and went to the Boulder store only to be disappointed by the staff that worked by the backpack section. Customer service sucks by a girl with a long hair didn't even bother to get her name I was so disgusted. Got help from another staff, ok but very impersonal interaction.
I'm glad I went to check out the flagship store in Denver and was greeted by a smile and a very welcoming Erica! I told her my previous experience so we started over in fitting me a backpack. She was very patient and a hiker herself of the AT!!! I got awesome tips from her and we continued to search for the "right" backpack. Although I did not get it from that store because I still wanted to check another style. She recommended me to another REI store down the road that has the pack. I did buy a backpack, one that Erica and I initially fitted in the flagship store. The place was awesome, a lot of friendly and welcoming staff. Kudos to Erica for being that welcoming staff full of knowledge about hiking and right pack to use. Do look for her when you need to be fitted and buy a new backpack. She's awesome!!!!!!
Captain America
If you want to find people that absolutely truly care about serving you, you’re coming to the right spot. Needed booties for my puppy and they totally took care of me. They are a chain but feel like a ma and pa shop. Definitely would rather drop money here than Amazon. Just for the people working here. Stay golden!
Clayton Kristiansen
Super cool REI, used to be an old trolly storage building. The Seattle one is still 100 sqft bigger though.
Nathan Tondow
The cultural center of Denver. By far the biggest abs best REi I’ve been in. Staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Great sales and inventory.
Oscar Mcclenton
Great location, the entire stores look and feel is perfect for an REI. Their selection is great and their staff has always been prompt and helpful.
Also their clearance and returns section on the 3rd floor is awesome if you want to save some cash and grab some gear, especially shoes!
I highly recommend this location to anyone!!
Jayda Morris
First time ever going into an REI store and I was treated so great. Felix was kind and explained where I could find what I was looking for and also gave me information about the membership program. Will definitely be back to get some goods!
Carlos Andrés Botero
Excellent selection of every aspect and tool you might need. Clean store, professional and knowledgeable staff. They even had some of my shopping on sale and correctes at the cashiers. They even have a little playground for the little ones
Liz Lane
One of my favorite places ever!! Such a great atmosphere and everyone is just so helpful. The quality of everything is what you should be looking for. Things may be pricey but if you become a member you won't regret it
Jacques Drazsnzak
This flag ship REI has a spectacular indoor climbing wall, and is packed floor to ceiling with amazing clothes gear, bikes, hats, you name it, it's here. REI is a co-op so you share in the profits of the organization, which feels good: especially when you get your yearly rebate check! I have been a member for over 20 years and it is a great company. Definitely check out this store.
Brian Laug
This place is the best. Huge inventory and staff that are always super helpful and will help on walk ins if they can. Answer questions for free and are very helpful and non judgmental. Least snobby bike shop I’ve ever been to. These guys are doing gods work growing cycling in denver. I’m sure there are other great shops, but with how much I like this place it’s hard to imagine going anywhere else.
Ryan Warrum
By far the coolest REI we’ve been to. Love the building itself, even though everything is very spread out on different floors/levels. Giant climbing structure and a small cool themed kids playground area. Has a Starbucks inside with the same hours as the store. There’s even a mtb test track out front. Outside around the store is just as neat! Walk around by the river to get the full experience.
Sam Mullis
Stopped in today for help with Hydro Flask accessories. The store itself is incredible. They have an amazing selection of products. Tia was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and patiant.
Dan Perkins
Customer service is amazing. Either in the store or over the phone, all the associates have been extremely helpful with my purchases/orders. I had to make a call to the customer service line the other day and it was quick, painless and they were able to resolve my issue. That is unprecedented in my experience. I have really enjoyed my membership with REI!
Fay Plialis
Staff here was amazing! It was a must see/shop during my visit!
We had some unfortunate things happen while in Denver and the rental staff was able to help us out. The care I was shown literally brought tears to my eyes….cannot thank you enough! Best humans award ❤️
Andrew Phillips
Jason in bike shop was phenomenal. He was extremely well informed but also very patient and great with answering questions. You could tell he rides a ton and is passionate about bikes and helping people get their bike fixed and tuned to perform at the top level.
Andre Hoyt
I was probably more impressed with the building...so awesome. Coupled with the product selection, great experience.
Carey Brown
My favorite out doors store. One think I've been buying from them is day-hiking shoes to where all the time. The Boz brand is comfortable, supportive and lasts a long time. I also pick up winter and fall weather wear and some miscellaneous items.
Simon Roberts
Excellent range of products, staff that are knowledgeable, helpful, and accessible even when the place is busy (which seems to be pretty much always). Parking is a bit of a game, but they have a large lot of their own and you get 90 minutes free, which beats a lot of options in this part of town.
Noah Parks
Best gear ever!! I'm legacy so if know better than most . They treat everyone including employees superb! Love you guys .
Lyndsey Leach
The only place I actually like to shop other than Costco!
Dana Rierson
As a REI member and frequent shopper, I thought I knew what to expect but I was blown away - the flagship title is well deserved! This is a great place to explore, or for a quick stop while you're in Denver.
K Harrell
You can have your bike serviced without having to go through the store. Quick, professional, and curious repair located near the front of the store
Siena Beattie
Huge. You can't actually find anything without asking for directions. Also it is in Denver so the sales tax is slightly higher than in Lakewood, for example so I had to pay $0.35 when making an exchange I had bought at the Lakewood location
Mandy Nelson
I love this REI. Located in the old Denver Tramway Power Company building, there are remnants of its history still preserved in this store. Huge timber beams, a large area where coal was stored, stairs, floors; the whole store is just a package. It smells great in here too. There are old pictures in the Starbucks of the original use of the building too. As for REI itself, the people have always been helpful. There is an area you can "test drive" your kayak before you buy it in the South Platt River, which is just southeast of the store. Where else can you do that? I think it is very unique. Even if you're not a fan of REI, stop in and get a coffee. It is a unique building that you won't be sad you stopped.
Ryan
Lots of inventory, but the selection has gone more towards expensive glamping stuff and away from useful backpacking essentials like orderless deodorant and basic hiking shirts.
Kay la R
My husband loves this store and this location was wonderful! Anything you need outdoors and also a great clearance section on third floor. The stairs were lots of fun for our little and so were the bears outside!
Carlos F Vilchez
Love this store, layout is a bit awkward as it’s a really big store with 3 levels and a variety of cool nifty outdoor needs
Lizzy Marie (#GlitterGlassesJourney)
We've been to this REI several times. It's pretty large for a REI, but considering the size I was a bit disappointed with the selection. We went in January to get snow apparel and didn't have much to choose from. It may have been because it was the middle of winter season, but I would've thought they would have more.
Returns and exchanges are separate from the regular check out, which is nice.
The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Given the size of the store, there always seems to be an employee nearby, which is also nice.
Jay Z
The biggest and nicest REI store I've been in, but I'm not an avid outdoors person. I did however, acquire the REI credit card and auto membership which came with $100 gift card. An expensive place to shop but as you may know, they have quality name brands and It's Denver! They have a clearance section on top floor. I did pick up a FJALL RAVEN backpack (for the wife) and ear muffs for $95 plus tax minus my gift card... good deal! Parking is free for two hours off street east lot. Great place for walks, jogging, biking, or just sitting for the view by the river. This REI was an old brick coal power plant, pictured inside the attached Starbucks.
John Irvine
What a beautiful building! It's HUGE and I was so impressed that they kept most of the original building in tact. There were so many items in here and so many different departments! It's your typical REI but with almost ANYTHING you can think of! I was just visiting and it's really cool to see what kinds of things people in this area shop for as there is a large selection for hikers and bikers! I would be at this store all the time if I lived around here and there is even a nice place to sit outside and eat by the river. Also you can demo mountain bikes there, which I've never seen and I thought that was a great idea!
Jeremy Cassidy-Cernanec
The staff is knowledgeable, and the selection is amazing. I love the ability to see product in person and to try stuff on.
Marii B
First time being in REI the people that work there are amazing. Patrick in specific made the experience worthwhile he was amazing he made shopping easy and fun. He told us the in and outs of specific items we were looking at overall the experience was great we will be back!!
Collin Calabrese
I go in for one item, and then I usually spend an hour browsing all the outdoor equipment that REI has available
Julie Stevenson Steiner
I love the gear here, but the store always seems short staffed. I had my bike in for a tune up recently, and waited 20 minutes just to pick it up. There were a ton of staff in the bike shop, but they working on repairs and not with customers. When I got home I noticed that the brake repair they did during the tune up left my front brake rubbing on the disc, so it wasn't even repaired correctly.
James O'Neill
Michael M. (blue beard) in the bike shop is an absolute wizard. He gave me lots of options, made sure that my money was spent only when necessary, and was a kind and patient teacher. He really wanted to make sure I got the most out of my bike. He's made me a lifelong user of the bike service dept. Won't go anywhere else :)
He really embodies all the REI values and reasons why I love this store so much.
Kyle Ryan
I came in to buy some socks since I forgot some on my trip. Long lines. 10-15 minute wait on the day I went. Cashier insisted on selling me the $30 a year pass. When indicated I didn’t have or want the pass, he indicated “you must be from out of town”. I explained that I was visiting. The whole interaction left a bad impression. In addition, their VISA system was reportedly not working the day I came. Even though the payment seemed to work fine. It made sense why their lines were long (given their pass sales and payment processing not working). I’ll try to avoid this store next time.
Philip Pegg
Great place. 3 different parking lots that are free for the first two hours. Huge 3 story facility that used to be a train station. massive multiple face indoor rock wall, outdoor obstacle track for trying out trail running gear and friendly staff. Very pretty scenery just outside Rei so definitely take an hour or two to walk around outside. Highly recommend.
Nathan Bryant
Best place in Colorado to get or rent quality outdoor gear. Areas to try out gear, including small outside bike course. Buying gear here is investing in worthwhile adventures.
Bill Clugston
Wow! I thought the Seattle flagship store was big. This store is enormous! REI stores are always fun, but this one is like going on an adventure.
But, just like any other REI, the were very helpful and courteous and I came away with a lighter wallet and more camping gear!
Phillip Blok
Awesome historic building and plus everything you need for outdoor fun!
Claire S.
I had such an incredible experience working with Tia today! If there was any chance I’d be shopping at a different outdoor store in the future it’s gone after talking with Tia. I’m so grateful for her time and warmth…she is awesome and so is the rest of REI!
Rawss LeBlanc
Pretty darn alright. Great selection of top shelf gear. In stock and ready to go. So many great things to spend money on!!
I like the way they showcase the Garmin watches. Nice to see them side by side in person.
Neat setup with the goal zero batteries.
They've got a better selection of bicycles than I anticipated as well.
This would be an easy place to blow $5-10,000 without breaking a sweat.
Matt
Folks in every department who know gear. The store Manager took it upon themselves to fix an order mistake that would have cost me over a hundred dollars on my dividend. REI is living proof that you CAN get “big” and still do right by customers.
S Virgil Goodwin
Super busy on Saturdays, but the store is really well stocked, and has a wide selection.
Chris Webb
Huge store with indoor climbing structure. Friendly, helpful staff. Stunning space. Beautiful reuse of industrial building. Pricey.
J Holmes
Largest REI in the state. Fantastic selection of everything outdoors, plus gear rentals.
Ian Alicia Perry
I go to this REI every year or so to buy new shoes. They hire good people who know what they're doing and are very helpful, even if you are clueless or have problem feet. Always a good experience.
Was there today to buy my 4th pair of Hokas. I had a bit of a panic attack (unrelated reasons) and Riya (sp?) was so kind and really made it a humanizing experience.
Colin Mangini
I brought in my bike that need a bunch of work. I went around town for quotes and REI’s was best the AND quickest turn around! Thanks Lucas!!
Katie Fiola Jones
Huge store! Great location, awesome customer service. Starbucks inside. Underground parking. They have free parking for up to 2 hours. Otherwise you have to pay. This rei also has a garage section upstairs.
Phil
The climbing wall was down today, not exactly sure why. The store is large and met my expectations and found what I was looking for. The clearance and garage sale sections are the best part of this store by far
Zach Johnson
The best REI store I’ve been to and great wifi
Happy Dogs
The parking is interesting. Definitely designed with compact cars in mind. We loved the starbucks inside. My coffee was piping hot amd delicious. The baristas were kind and pleasant. Spent an azing afternoon walking around and shopping for things I never knew I needed.
Joel Bamba
Very friendly staffs and great customer service! Their rates are very reasonable. Their bike mechanics are very knowledgeable and they will let you know few options on how to maintain or upgrade your bike. Highly recommend.
Raghu M
huge store, with great selection, lot more items in stock then most other locations, very good customer service
Pa Yang
This was my first time at REI. I went in looking for beginners snowboarding equipment and Cannon helped me find the attire I needed. He stayed with me as long as I needed help. He took his time to explain the different attire styles and things I may need to help keep me warm during my snowboarding experience. I left happy with my purchases, and I went boarding the next week very satisfied and warm. Kudos Cannon!
Michael Victoroff
I've been a member since the late 1960s. This organization, in general, has been able to sustain the highest levels of quality, service, inventory and usefulness for decades. There are other good "outdoor" stores. And small, local, highly specialized stores sometimes fill the need for technical items that 99 percent of sports enthusiasts won't require. But for just about any hiking, climbing, camping, backpacking, kayaking need, as well as general adventure travel, REI is the first place to look if you're lucky enough to have a store in your area. Online of course is a hotly competitive area, where REI holds its own. But one great asset of the physical stores is the staff it attracts. Their advice is exceptionally ethical and reliable, overall. The downtown Denver "flagship" store is a standout, even among others in the region. (And the Denver-Boulder area is well supplied with excellent competitors.) Definitely our first go-to in this category of goods.
Emily Paul
Super awesome REI! It’s huge, they have a big selection and lots of things in stock. I found it pretty easy to find my way around. Leaving one star off because it is so hot in there!
Eddie Bullinger
It's always a treat visiting the "Mothership." Huge selection. Friendly and extremely knowledgeable staff. Beautiful building and location. The two negatives are parking (although for free parking near downtown you can't complain too much), and dealing with the fact that you're probably going to spend more than you planned.
John Bonnette
Customer service is excellent. I bought an REI Co-Op sleeping bag a few years ago, and the zipper quit working. The customer service manager let me know that they have a 1 year return policy, but she thought their rentals service counter might be able to fix it. 20 minutes later my bag was fixed and it didn't cost me a dime. Very grateful for the customer service!
Jannice Park
Highly recommend the ski/snowboard shop for repairs. After being told by two snowboard shops that my boa was not fixable, I decided to give it one last shot - this REI - to save the 250 that I paid for the boots. Was greeted by Michael and Jason. I can’t express how knowledgeable, thoughtful and friendly they were … both the gentlemen pointed me to Cam. Cam did his magic and voila … fixed my boot boa sooo quickly… literally within minutes!! Cam you are truly a wizard!!! I can’t thank the shop enough —- even though they were slammed, they went the extra mile to take the time to help me out.
This night shift crew is stellar. Not only are they good at their craft but very wonderful people! I enjoyed my interactions with these folks - best customer service and work!! I’ll definitely be back!!
Ryan Cook
This store is the place to take your serious concerns with gear issues. The manager at the bike/ski service is beyond professional. Will buy my ski setups here in the future knowing they will make it right when I inevitability break them.
The crew recognizes top end gear issues!
Andy Feliciotti
Well stocked store! With the visit.
Rengesh K
The biggest REI store I have ever been too. They even have a rock climbing model to try on😂 …
Brandon Zupancic
Went to get some bike parts. I have the serial number 3 or 4 pictures of my bike and the old parts. Still had to go back home and get my bike. Long story short, great people, great store, outdoorsman paradise! Not so great parts catalog. I am still going to be a loyal customer.
Sylvia Cortez
This place is HUGE!!!! Everyone is super Friendly!!! Can say enough, get your gear here!!!
Bryson McHardy
Great selection of outdoor gear from bikes to climbing equipment camping and clothing. Staff very friendly and helpful
Michael West
I am a fan of REI in general. And, this historic building is a super cool setting. However, there are two things I would change: 1) put an extension on both the entry and exit ticket machine 2) fix the terrible check out line. If you are in that area of the store, it's a mess to try to figure out how to get out of you don't have any purchases.
Kimberly Morales
I am not usually one to post many reviews, but Val in the ski boot area is one of the most knowledgeable people at any REI store I have yet to meet. She is a breath of fresh air in her ability to exhibit such patience and kindness to those that are getting their first pair of boots. She answers everyone's questions with no trail of judgment or a sense she is supercilious to them. Furthermore, she has not only made my experience at REI one that trumps all others, but she was also able to instill such excitement in me for the sport of skiing itself.
I only give this rating a 4/5 because I had a different worker this same night try to ignore me when I was asking where the footwear location was, and because the selection of ski's with bindings was minimal.
Trevor Smith
Been using rei for almost 10 years from hiking to biking. Love this location. Just bought some hiking boots and had a great knowledgeable employee(bobby) help me make a informed decision. Great place.
Deney Durr
BUSY. BUSY. BUSY. First time EVER in a REI store. And it was an out of town visit. Didn't think I would come to a east and west parking lot. But I didn't need much. But it did take me longer to find what I needed only because I was wide eye while trying to search for the things I needed. I did get what I needed. And splurged a little. Unfortunately, I couldn't get some other items I saw due to I fly back and didn't want to violate any laws or policies with TSA. But I became a member(even though I don't go outdoors much. But hoping this will get me out there a little more than before). And I would come back to any REI store. It'll probably be the one near Dublin, Ohio. Thanks for the experience. Even on the busiest day.
Brian Herrera
Biggest REI I've been to. Lots of employees on the floor that were very helpful in pointing me towards the socks. I also had a return and the checkout people were friendly as well. Pretty cool store.
Spencer Klein
Tom is great! I hope Tom gets the recognition he deserves for all the hard work he is doing.
My father bought a pair of boots in Ohio and brought them as his only pair of footwear to vacation in Colorado. An hour after wearing them he had an issue and we decided to go back. Tom in the footwear section was a great help identifying the issue at hand and finding a suitable replacement. Thank you Tom for treating my father with dignity even when he presented more of a challenge than most clients.
Paul Paratore
Always super friendly and helpful here! Today I was returning some rental gear but in the past they have helped me size my packs, compare camp stoves, and fit hiking and snowboarding boots! Parking can be a little crazy, but know there is a combination of street parking, lot, underground garage, and an overflow lot.
Jim Molleca
Plan to spend some time in this store! Department after department with the coolest, most specialized things you'll find anywhere! REI could become a bad habit.
Jessica Rivers
super helpful staff even when it was really busy on a Sunday afternoon. shout out to Carl to being such a great help ✌🏼 …
Libby Derenthal
It's kinda confusing to navigate as it's in an old building but it's a great REI with lots of services (ski waxing etc) and a much larger selection.
Ulysses Galeana
If they don't have it. They'll just tell u to go online to order it. Other then that they are happy to show you what they do have.
Jeremy Maxwell
Amazing store! I could get lost for hours in here
Anna Halaburt
My wife bought the Overalls and had a really great experience buying them! Customer service was super helpful and caring. She came home excited about her experience, I on the other hand dislike her overalls. Sometimes when she pulls me in for a hug, my teeth slam into the metal buttons that hold the shoulder straps to the body of the overalls.
Zach Moore
This place is awesome! I've been to two other REI locations, and while those were good, this one takes the cake. They have everything you could possibly need for the outdoors. The staff was very friendly and helpful; they even gave us a food recommendation on our trip back to the South.
This place also adhered diligently to CDC guidelines for COVID-19. Overall, I was very impressed.
Nathan Lee
Went in because my bike's derailleur was jacked. Emily in the bike shop set me right and was delightful. All for $12 too. Amazing.
Ubaldo Robles
Get all your camping an adventure needs. It was an experience to be inside a well-kept warehouse.
Nate Smith
Awesome!
Eva
A favorite place to shop... they carry the brand I love... Mountain Hardware.
Kyle Endicott
Nice and friendly staff and they have all of your hiking trip needs
John-Paul Underwood
I experienced a flat tire, on my 3rd hand bicycle, shop technician Michael took very good care with my tire issue!
Hunter McHugh Smith
absolutely incredible store! It is massive and well stocked and beautifully organized.
Philip Greenberg
REI did excellent work on my Surly LHT recently. They had most of the parts needed in stock, the estimate was thorough and clearly explained and I was contacted when my parts allowance was slightly exceeded. The quality of the workmanship is superb. This was the first time I've had REI Bike Shop perform work on my bike. Very satisfied.
Greg Knaddison
This place is the best. The staff are so knowledgeable and helpful, their gear and prices are great, the building is really cool. If you are looking for quick visit this spot can be hard because the space is cavernous. If you drive and the parking lot is full, go to the south end of the lot and a ramp down below where there's usually space. My kids loved playing in the play area upstairs which is right by the clearance section where I'd browse for deals (closed for covid last I checked). They have a great connection to biking trails and plenty of bike parking so might as well bike there. They have a ton of gear for rent and also a bike repair shop and maybe some other gear repair services. Really an amazing full service outdoor gear shop. Still amazing!
Benjamin Huseman
I always appreciate the knowledgeable and attentive staff when I visit REI. on this visit I was returning an item that I had purchased and wasn't entirely pleased with. Without hesitation or question the staff member processed my return and I was on my way. It is refreshing when a company stands behind the products that they sell and implement a no hassle return policy. It is even more refreshing when the staff is friendly and makes the return experience as pleasant as possible.
Terry Abbott
This is the most AMAZING REI I've ever seen! The selection is epic and the staff is very exceptional at getting your shopping for gear needs met. Prices could be better but it is what it is. Definitely come by and grab some Starbucks and take a gander and stroll through the cool old building. Also, parking up top is packed, use the underground option.
Max Williams
Wow...Wowowowow. This location is unbelievably massive and beautiful. It was fun just to explore everywhere. I didn't have trouble finding anyone when I had a question. I spent way too much time here and enjoyed almost every second of it. They only had a couple cashiers working, so the checkout line got really long really fast. I ended up going through the line 3 different times (once for my original purchase, another time because I decided to buy one more thing, and a third time because I accidentally picked up the wrong size during my original purchase). The line didn't get any faster in all that time. It was a Tuesday around noon, so maybe they just didn't expect a rush and had no one available to jump on some registers. And I'm sure I didn't help by going through the line three times...heh
Dan Adams
Went in for replacement bulbs for a AA Mag lite but they are having supply chain problems so so bulbs. We also shopped for good pair of sunglasses & the employee was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. They do ask for you to wear a mask while inside but the supply them if you need one.
Monica Adams
I was injured outside of REI yesterday and two employees saw me struggling and offered me assistance right away. So thankful for them helping take care of me!! Amazing staff
Luke Koesler
Went to pick up a back packing bag. Between the Gregory 65 and the Osprey 65. They didn't have the Osprey in stock. The guy there said it's best to try on both of them cause it's all about the fit. Thankful that they didn't try to sell me just what they had in stock.
This is my second visit to this store. Last time they sold me on being a member. It cost $20 but you get an equal amount gift card. So I was sold. Then as I get the gift card and paid for it already I notice the expiration date. A fairly short window for someone who doesn't make it to the area frequently.
I thought I had till the end of the month to spend it. So we made a special trip today to realize at checkout that it's two weeks too late. Poor observation on my part. Needles to say they didn't take it.
So I'd make it 2.5 stars but that's not an option.
I'll buy the bag offline and do my best to try to fit it with online tutorials.
Richard Petyk
Almost overwhelming on our first visit. While they have a lot of floor space I really expected it to have something of everything and it didn't (no Hammer Nutrition gels etc.).
David Fields
A massive REI. 2nd largest in the US, nearly the largest. Great selection of equipment, gear, and clothing. Amazing focus on technical camping/backpacking gear, more than usual for an REI. Will DEFINITELY return.
Cole Payne
Coolest REI I've been to so far. Grabbed a few items on our way through Denver during our road trip out west. Really cool building.
John Lentz
REI's always amazing. Great gear, great staff, and this location is truly stunning. The high ceilings in the historic building right in the heart of Denver makes this a destination I bring out of town guests, and it's still one of my favorite places to get things myself. I trust the people there, rely on the gear, and though I don't consider myself a "shopper" I love going to this REI for the experience
Alison Jamie Garscadden
Staff was super helpful and nice, especially James in the climbing section. He helped me find the perfect fit for my climbing shoes and was great at explaining the different types and styles. Very happy customer!
Tyler Scott
Huge store that's fun with all the bike, hike, & other outdoor gear you need
Travis
It has everything you need for an outdoor adventure. Well stocked and great staff - the perfect one-stop-shop for the outdoors.
Michael C
Larger REI warehouse store with up to 3 floors.
Name brand items are Pricey!
Alex Traubert
Large flagship REI store. You'll find just about anything you need and be able to try most of it out. The store has a dirt pump track outside, a climbing wall inside, and plenty of room to try on/out any camping gear. Staff is super helpful and friendly. This store has a permanent REI Garage Sale section for used returned gear at great prices.
Brandon F
The flagship store in Denver is the best REI in the area for broad, in-stock selection and availability of clearance items.
Rob Claybon
This is my main REI. Even though it’s downtown I can always find parking and get in and out very quickly. The selection is great and the staff won’t just point you in a direction to find something, they will walk you there and make sure you find it.
Jared Dennis
Went in for a Garmin watch. Lady working the section says they are all out of the watch I was looking for. Fine, but then she proceeds to incorrectly and very passionately that I’m SOL and I can’t buy the watch online. She was clearly ego-tripping .
Update: I bought the watch online
Arnold Carlson
Nothing but positive things to say about REI. Super helpful staff and they stand behind their products
Jason Ross
This Flagship store has an enormous selection in comparison to other REI locations in the area. Olivia Miller provided excellent customer service and was a huge help in sourcing the remaining items needed for an upcoming backpacking trip. Thanks again, Olivia!
Gabriela Briseno
Ted was super helpful with giving us tips for the great sand dunes and also gave us excellent restaurant recommendations!! Thank you Ted!! 🙌🏼 …
dalip sethi
Great store... amazing customer service...
Brian Benemerito
Everything you need and want, customer service is great as well.
Matthew MacKenzie
Awesome to know there are still places (like REI) with great service/support and fair prices. Super pleasant experience. Erica in backpacks is the homie.
Dani Marie
What a great store! The gear is rugged and can keep up with me on the trail. They have warranties and guarantees so you'll always be satisfied with whatever you purchase. They have sales going on frequently so always check ahead of time what they have going on. It's a great one stop shop for everything you could ever want to do outdoors! They even have trail maps, Gu, a variety of chews and other tasty snacks to keep your endurance up and you finishing strong! The staff is often scarce, so keep an eye out if you need help finding anything.
david stewart
This is a must stop in Denver, great selection, climbing wall, kids play area, and helpful staff!
Elizabeth Kuzara
My husband and I are moving across the country, from Virginia to California. We purchased a soft bag topper from an online retailer. It started to fail on us as it became quickly wind worn. I searched online to find all the parts needed to switch to a Thule cargo box.
We have a nine month old and a dog with us so my husband had to try to put it up alone. The Yakima cross bars were much more difficult than expected. The product is excellent, but one of the screws was not tightening correctly.
Alex and Michael came to help. They helped mount the bars and fix the issue with the screws so that it mounted correctly securely.
Without their help I honestly don't know what we would have done. They were so kind and helpful. Our crossbars are mounted securely and safely.
We will make our trip all the way to our new home because of the time and work they put in to ensure it was done correctly.
John Potter
the employees here are fabulous, very helpful. and they have a great selection of all outdoor gear
Mark Sandusky
REI is great - I've been a member since the early 90's.
The flagship store is always incredibly merchandise- the displays make you want to do everything! Staff is always knowledgeable and helpful
David Cross
Awesome place with great selections, much better than what I've seen at the other REI down south. Obviously the prices can be a little up there for some items, but with the warranty the company provides on any purchase you make, it is well worth paying what you do.
I will admit the waits can be a little long, from getting into the door in the first place to actually being able to see someone to try on shoes you could be waiting almost an hour and for some people it could be more (Keep in mind, you will still be charged for parking if you're there more than two hours). Of course, once you're sitting down you're treated with a level of professionalism unlike most places you will find. Even during this pandemic and the problems it has brought, the staff will take their time where needed and answer questions when asked.
In a month I've dropped about 500 dollars there, and have no regrets about my purchases so far. This comes with knowledgable staff capable of helping you find what you need.
Thank you very much, REI! Can't wait for the gift card to be available to spend as I've got one more thing I'd like to pick up... maybe just one more thing, we will see.
Tiffani Sahara
I always have a great experience shopping here. Not only is this store huge with a ton of stock and a wide variety of inventory, but the staff are always friendly and helpful. I've purchased everything from camping equipment to rock climbing gear to clothing to mountain bike parts and more. Any time I've ever had a questions staff members have always been willing to assist and typically provide very good information and feedback regarding product specific questions. They have a rock climbing wall, gear rental, and all kinds of other amenities. I generally have good experiences when shopping at any REI store, but this store is the Flagship store for the Denver area and they definitely take the cake.
Katie Espinoza-Lopez
It was great the customer service is the best and you have everything you need for camping or going to the mountains the shoes are my favorite they are comfortable . even if the colors aren't that good I still love them . I love being able to shop without being discriminated and everyone there treats us like we are family and welcomed
Nigel Jones
This is the nicest REI store we have been to
Tony Orellana
Great place to go and dream. So many things are expensive, but with the boots I got, they didn't sell anything higher than retail. Plus, I got a $20 gift card for spending more than $100, so now my lifetime membership is paid for! Their return policy is also outstanding. As long as I remember to keep my receipts, I can return anything (except for some electronic stuff) within a year. That really helps me since I was a little worried that my boots would die on me after reading some negative reviews on them. Great place!
Nikki Nicole
I’ve been to this location 3-4x time in the last month (during the week, weekend, and on a holiday) and I’m not a fan of the parking... the machines are slow/laggy and garage is small (I know there is overflow parking nearby).
However, the employees are helpful, check-out line moves quickly, and since this is the flagship store, there are a lot of options to choose from versus smaller locations I’ve been to.
tjoan k (Joan)
First time to the Flagship Denver location. Plenty of Product. Friendly staff. The store is a Multi level. R.E.I. could do a much better job of offering a map of the store at the entrance, as well as better signage to walk through.
Pete Deichmann
This REI store is really nice. It is in a very cool building that is fun to explore. Especially, if you've never been there before. The staff is very helpful, as one has come to expect with REI. It's got a pretty wide selection right now and a decent selection of close out/clearance items at the moment. That said, inventory seems a little bit lower in some areas of the store than usual; probably due to COVID hysteria.Their selection of running shoes is a bit slim, which is why I was there. So, I wasn't able to fulfill my errand this time around and will now have to shop online.
Erica Chapman
Everything you want a flagship store to be! Great brand merch, good sales, koolaide-drinkin' staff, impressive building and more outdoor stuff than you average shoppe.
Michael Lehl
Great selection of outdoor gear. It's a huge store, and being an REI member gives you great benefits. Highly recommend.
ryan wilkman
My wife and I came in to look for some hiking boots for myself and upon arriving my wife decided to look for some shoes for work. She works in corrections and is on her feet all day and has to be able to run at times. Tom from footwear was amazing. Great customer service and we didn't even realize that the store had been closed for over a half hour until I heard the music turn off and looked up the store hours on my phone. Tom was running back and forth getting different shoes and sizes plus he was very knowledgeable and has great recommendations. I will definitely shop here more due to the great service I received from Tom.
Bernice Ruybal
I ordered and paid online; I just went to REI to pick up my order. They were fast, efficient, and very customer friendly. I wish all shopping was that fast and easy.
Daniel Ortiz
This place is a superstore. These employees were such a huge help and totally made our hikes bearable as we are Floridians and are absolutely not familiar with snow conditions. So much learned on this trip thanks to the employees of REI. Thank you guys! They are running low on some winter gear so I would recommend calling ahead if you’re looking for a specific product.
NPC
Cashier's were nice and friendly but the sales floor people were standoffish and in sour moods. REI consistently has higher prices than other stores. They usually have what you're looking for in stock and a HUGE selection. Really busy on the weekend, difficult to navigate or find assistance.
Alexandra Prettenthaler
Nice service, friendly stuff and good quality! I like this shop
Jack
This REI location is incredible. The staff is friendly and helpful and have handled the COVID 19 situation very well to ensure the safety of their customers and employees.
I have had great experiences with their bike shop as well. Adam and Leroy were super helpful in getting my bike fixed. Thank you!
Connor Franklin
They were a little backed up with tunes, but willing to do a quick safety fix for me in the meantime. Appreciate the help!
Y N
110%❗❗❗Elsie was a phenomenal help today. I was tight on time needed very specific items that could have easily cost me far more than they did as she was able to help me sort through needs vs overkill. Left with everything I needed, not what I THOUGHT I might need. This employee made my time in the store even more enjoyable than what REI already does for me, hard to believe! Thanks again Elsie❗❗❗
Iowa Reviewers
Very good REI location. Here, you'll find a wide selection of apparel for men, women, and children; boots and shoes; accessories such as hats, balaclavas, gloves, and toques; kayaks and stand-up paddleboards; bicycles and accessories; climbing equipment; and camping gear like tents, sleeping bags, camp stoves, and bear-resistant food storage containers.
The store is busy, but when staff members are available, they're generally friendly and helpful. Parking can be a challenge here if you arrive in a vehicle, but the lot across from the store is free if you can find an available spot.
Stephanie Griffin
I live right down the street so I visit this location often. I'm writing this review because I had an amazing experience purchasing ski boots yesterday.
Jeff spent 2 hours helping me find the perfect pair of boots. His attention to detail, patience, and professionalism was exceptional.
I would strongly recommend purchasing your ski boots from this location. Thank you Jeff!
Taylor Giles
This is the REI of your dreams. Huge building, phenomenal staff, and an awesome Garage Sale section. My boyfriend and I came in to buy new hiking boots and the staff was so helpful it was ridiculous. Cannon was so patient and kind, Andrew gave me a snack when I said I was frustrated and hungry after trying on sooo many shoes, then Tom was so full of knowledge and really absorbed what I needed after hearing about all the shoes that didn’t work. We both left with a pair of Oboz and could not be happier! 10/10 experience.
FATE2WIN
Helpful staff, good sales, and just a nice atmosphere to shop in.
Hank Miller
Great store. Carry anything related to outdoor. Little bit pricey
Noel Lane
Friendly staff, but oddly not that big of a selection for how massive the store is
Michael Cooper
Joe in footwear had the unfortunate task of helping me find a product I didn't want but knew I needed. I needed the winter protection of a hiking boot despite being a long time advocate for low profile trail runners. This made for a reluctant purchase, but Joe stayed patient and found me a great product. Really happy with my experience today, thanks Joe and thanks REI!
Thomas Schlosser
I'm mean the product offering is not that different from what you would find at other REI Stores, but the building that houses this store is SO COOL! The location is also great and this store was better staffed than more REI's I've visited.
Mike
Always a great experience, everyone is very knowledgeable and helpful when looking for gear. They are very knowledgeable and personable and will answer and walk you through getting what you need with confidence. I brought my MTB in for a tune up (it's been a somewhat dry winter so I'm going to take advantage of that) and the guy took about 5 minutes to diagnose all the problems with my Santa Cruz and let me know it would be about 2 days to fix at a very reasonable price (I'm a member of the Co-op). Def recommend REI.
Matthew Vandergrift
I love this place. It's my first stop for any outdoor gear, ruggedized household goods, comfortable clothes that will last longer than I will, etc. It's in a beautiful building, easy to get to, super helpful staff, onsite coffee, lots of outdoor seating, plenty of inventory and lots of space to just walk around and be inspired.
Prices are REI, which means they vary from not-great to really good depending on what you're getting. It's important you're doing a likewise comparison because there can be a big difference between the base layer you're buying here vs. the discount store down the street. Maybe it matters, maybe it doesn't - that's up to you.
It does get crowded on the weekends and I like to stop by during the weekdays. From 11-3 is pretty ideal if you want to do some relaxed browsing. Never tried driving here, but they do have a large parking lot. Not sure what the parking situation is like though.
Taylor Sachse
Great store for all your outdoor needs.
Michael Fons
Amazing inventory and service!! A person named Georgia showed me around the entire complex since it was my first time there, And there's a lot to see!!! It's hard to imagine anything they don't have...
I ended up becoming a member and buying something from there garage sales section which is where stuff that was tried and didn't work for somebody ends up getting sold back and then offered for further sale to members at a reduced cost 😊
Craig Ivy Garza
Excellent! Except for the mask police. Makes it hard to try something on before you purchase.
Thomas Hatch
Building was so cool. Had a great selection
lauren nagle
Every time I come to this REI location, I swear I receive the best product knowledge and service! DAVID K made our trip to REI today so easy and gave the best experience to date! Explained the details of each product thoroughly and explained how the products are essentially the same but comes down to price and aesthetic which made it so easy for us to make the decision. DAVID K literally is going places some day so give him a raise so he never leaves and continues giving people the best experiences!
James Hume
Love REI but pricey.

I went in this weekend to look for a new pair of ski boots after experiencing repeated issues with pain in my rentals. I was able to join the waitlist and was quickly met by Renee. Renee asked questions about my experience level and the pain I’ve experienced, took some measurements, looked at my feet and stance and brought me several options despite that it’s late in the season and stock is low.
Renee walked me through what I should feel and shouldn’t feel and explained more options she could provide to make even the best off-the-shelf boot feel even better. I’m so grateful for the time Renee spent with me and the incredible decades of knowledge she shared with me to make sure the boots were just right - she really went above and beyond!
Thanks for the great experience!

We had an AWESOME experience. If you come to Denver & need outdoor gear - Go see Ted at REI. Incredibly helpful with getting us the gear we needed AND giving us restaurant recommendations. Way better than YELP.
The building itself is worth the trip. Old building with exposed beams, huge & airy. I'd give it 10 stars if I could.
Dustin C. Slade
I don't like being asked repeatedly if I need help. Esp. If I'm not trying to seek you out or give you eye contact. Please just let me shop a little. I don't want to be sanitized or escorted out. I love the a rei stores but don't need all the attention. Your making the shopping experience creepy corporate.

It really is a neat store and pretty much had everything you need. But the customer service I felt like it kind of was a hit and miss. I had a couple that were great, but then I also had a couple that were clueless. But I really liked the store.. i went in for some mountain biking stuff.. i do wish they had more of a selection for mountain biking but what they had was ok.
Mackenzie Jacobs
Love this REI generally, but the Rentals department are the real rockstars! I’ve come in multiple times for help with my tent (shock cord replacement) and they are so kind, helpful and willing to take the time to teach you how to take care of your own gear. I will be taking advantage of this department all of the time!
William Birkett
Drew in the bike shop was extremely helpful and kind. I was having some troubles with my Yakima rack set up. Drew said to just come on in he would take care of me. The customer service supplied by this location is the reason why I drive all the way from lone tree.
Kat Pittman
Pros--membership sales and dividends. Can try out top notch equipment, rent equipment, speak with knowledgeable staff, free parking, and great location. Cons--expensive
Colby Jack
I stopped by in December of 2018 and first off I want to say I’m SUPER confused by all of the negative reviews??? Upon arriving I noticed a TON of things, starting with the parking.
1. Parking is free in a parking garage up till the 3 hour mark. Its $3 for 4 hours and $4 for 5, parking garage looked safe to me and is situated in a decent looking part of town.
2. When I walked inside a smiling young man welcomed me and other guests as well
3. I saw NUMEROUS staff smiling and engaging with customers throughout the store.
4. I had plenty of staff come and ask me if I needed anything, I smiled and declined as I have never been to an REI so I was going to take my time looking. Not one treated me rudely when I said this.
5. Things here are expensive BUT you get the quality you pay for. I knew this going in as I’m an avid outdoors person and put my trust in quality gear while in the outdoors.
6. With all this being said, I’m not really sure how people were treated poorly? As everyone seemed in good spirits while I was there, Unless your extremely stuck up and intend for people to cater to your every whim or you can’t justify spending extra money to get good pieces of equipment.
Other than that they have a MASSIVE inventory from bikes, to camping, to snow shoes and clothes. 5 stars for me
Gabriel Levy
An awesome experience and cheaper than most bike shops for REI members. Adam was incredibly helpful and made my experience pleasant.
Edith Shangraw
My husband and I stopped by to take a look at ski boots and had a great experience. Devin was incredibly helpful and measured our feet for length, width, arch as well as our calves to ensure the best fit possible. I have wide feet and high instep so it took some tinkering for me to get the most comfortable fit. Bring your own ski socks to try-on or purchase a new pair. I typically use burton or stance socks but really love the smart wool pair I purchased today. Highly recommend REI for the best service in ski boot sizing.

I hate that I live so close to this REI (.5 miles). It’s a magnificent store and every time I walk in, I’m in heaven. The close proximity means I also spend too much time and money there. But alas, there are worse problems in life. The layout rocks, the staff are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, and I never have any doubts about the service I get no matter how many trips I need to go to validate and research before I make a purchase.
Kci Stephens
Great service even when busy, pretty knowledgeable Staff. I go there to try on and or purchase running shoes
Aleks Sargic
It's a great outdoors store that has a little bit of everything for almost any outdoor activity. Just an FYI, I wouldn't go bargain shopping here. That aside, it's a wonderful store with outstanding customer service.
Mark Stenstrom
Very Covid safe! Special markers on the floor for distancing. An employee at the door ensuring face coverings are worn. Barriers at registers. Free parking for up to 2 hours. Great location right where Cherry Creek meets the Platte River. Starbucks location next door.
Will be back for future outdoor gear purchases!
Lauren Driscoll
These guys are on top of COVID cleaning. Counters and other commonly used surfaces got wiped down after every customer. Felt totally safe shopping here. Plus I found 2 great pairs of shoes in clearence. Excellent!
Colin Erskine
The history of the building is pretty amazing and it is giant. There is some great architecture around every corner. It is a pretty cool place to have the original flag ship REI, the only thing that bummed me out was we were meeting a friend there who has a dog and I guess dogs are not allowed in this REI.
Harry Bowmaster
Everything you can possibly need. Only criticism is that size 32s seem kind of rare, and you may find something you're looking for not exactly in the dept it should be. Even the staff has trouble tracking down items!
Staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. And they have their own MTB test track. I mean who does that! You can't be and outdoorsperson and not stop by.
Alvin Isaacs
I have been a co-op member since way back before the massive corporate changes and have been in a lot of REIs from one end of the country to the other. This is definitely one of the best of them. Great location near the park and a reasonable walk time from other downtown areas. I am really impressed with this store, staff and offerings.
J P
Really cool building - just wish it were closer to home. Nice selection of bikes but service cost seems a bit high. Be aware you get charged for parking after complimentary 2 hour parking which can make things difficult if you are waiting on a bike repair. Parking lot is NOT managed by REI so any problems need to be addressed with contracted parking lot company and they aren't too friendly!
Jim Doolittle
THE Coolest REI I've ever been to. Huge building with everything you will ever need for the outdoors. Was impressed by just the sheer magnitude of the place. The single track course outside for testing out bikes looks pretty neat. Everything I expected and more, 5/5 will recommend.
charlie olson
WHAT AN AWESOME STORE! First off it’s huge, one of the biggest outdoor stores out there. The people have always been extremely helpful and there are alway people to find. Most of the people working there are real outdoors people and I’m happy they can use their own experience for their recommendations. Love the climbing wall, bike testing area, Starbucks, and large selection.
Jeremy Brown
3 stars because parking is ridiculous the store is way to big for the amount of products they have. The place is always crazy busy and last nite I waited 30 mins in line to check out in conclusion they do have quality camping supplies at an outrageous price
ch_lo tch
This is the mother of all REI I’ve seen! Lovely to get lost in. Great discounted items section upstairs. Beautiful building and friendly staff as usual!
Holly Mae
This place is super cool. We arrived late (trying to hurry to make it and driving from fort worth Texas), about 15 minutes before close. We didn't want to miss it. The staff was super friendly and helped us find exactly what we were looking for. The store itself is awesome. If you are into outdoors stuff from cycling to canoeing or backpacking, don't miss this store.
Charles Fukushima
Large store with everything you need from biking, camping, water sports and more. Staff was super friendly and helpful and went out of their way to get me information on some products. There entry system for covid-19 is a little wonk (if you say you're going to a busy section they'll keep you outside until its empty, but if you say you're going to empty section they have nothing stopping you from walking to said busy sections) but other than that, can't really say anything negative so far.
Laura Pintar
Knowledgeable staff with excellent attitudes! Almost too many options in regards to packs and bags of every imaginable kind and size! Thank goodness for the great staff. Bought the bag I want/need! The hiking shoes/boots and trail running shoes left a lot to be desired... Not a very large selection in regards to price point or style. I left with no purchase in this area, but need footwear in the next three days. I will need to go elsewhere.
Edward Stern
I want to thank George and Drew in the bike shop at Denver's Flagship store. I brought them my Trex Fuel EX 9.8 last week to tune up and repair for a big ride and they went above and beyond to quickly fix my bottom bracket and help me understand how to maintain my tubeless tires. I really appreciate their helpful service and professional, positive attitude. The ride was great. -Eddie
Matthew Bailey (MrBrit)
If you enjoy the outdoors and have not yet visited REI, I suggest you do!
Why do I go to REI? They have experts who actually participate in the spirts they work in. When asking about ski gear you get an opinion and expertise from a skier (or snow boarder), not just a person who I “doing a job”.
I skied in my new boots a few times and went back with a question, they took the time to ask questions, check the fit then made custom adjustments.
All in all awesome service from great people.
James
What a great place to be part of the community, and outdoor. REI is more than just a store, I love the communal events. It has a great view, and sometimes I'll see wildlife, and trash around the river.
What I like to see are the plastic and epoxy footprint that the store has because plastic waste should be considered on product labels. Just as some labels warn of cancer causing materials, there should also be one for plastic content. I like to see REI end their masks mandate because non woven masks are plastic waste, and cotton type materials are porous that's why hot tents are made of cotton canvas. The trash surrounding Platte River stairway should be cleaned everyday by employees. Plastic aren't part of wildlife diet, and no human should congest plastic with drinking water.
John Wilson
Went to pick up some new boots. In the end we did find a great pair. But not what we come for. We wanted Salomons. But i reviewed the pair we got and we're ok. But stock was so limited. And they we're pretty confused and not very aware on what they had.
I was told this was best location. Ok at best for our first visit.
Regardless of covid. Stock still needs to be up to date. With the reservation system set, it should be super organized and up to par.
Van Perry
As usual, great service. Changing the rear inner tube on our e-bikes is a huge pain. They put new liners front and back, new slime tube, and done quickly. The service is free for members, so just parts cost.
Phil Davis
Amazing selection of gear in a beautiful old building
Christophe Jacques
Great place for outdoorsy things! This is where my heart sings and my wallet cries. Also love to bike here and explore!
James Tvarek
Andrew and Sunshine really know their REI merchandise. I needed help with Smith helmets and Smith goggles and they came to my rescue. So many choices so I was able to make much quicker and better decisions thanks to them
Bella
Amazing store with a huge variety of selections. Expensive but quality products
Isaac Dallas
Great out doors store! A wide selection of quality products to choose from and a nice clearance area as well. If your looking for biking, mountain biking, rock climbing, hiking, mountain climbing, kayaking eqwipment or outdoor apparel you will find it here
Ben Lang
Amazing store. Has everything. Incredible bike shop and staff is knowledgeable. Love all the camping gear. The store is old and beautiful and massive inside
TaNayiah Bryels
this review is specifically for the bike shop. i brought my bike by today with a flat tire and a few other small complaints, and the guys behind the counter took care of everything and were very nice about it. when i hopped back on my bike, it felt like brand-new. shout-out to spencer, william, and the bike shop team. ✨
Logan
Great environment. Knowledgeable staff. Even the building and the surrounding Confluence Park is fun to be in.
Outdoor gear is always expensive and there aren't a lot of deals. But REI gives you some discount in the form of a discount of future purchases at the end of every year, which can make purchases here a lot more reasonable if you have long-term outdoor hobbies.
Shawna Mandel
I really love it here!! Went to buy my first pair of rock climbing shoes, I didn’t know what size I needed so the first pair I got was wrong. I came back and Reed was super knowledgeable and helped me get the right size and I was able to swap them out without any hassle!! Friendly staff 😁 …
Nicholas Walsh
This flagship store is the best. Located in a great area downtown, the split-level layout is very unique and it's a fun store to walk around even if you are not actively shopping for anything in particular. Their dividend program is a great incentive to come back and the garage sale is an awesome way to save some coin on the gear you have been eyeing.
Jeff Irving
The price is about as high as the ceilings here but the quality of products is even higher. Easy to get lost but the friendly and knowledgeable staff are always willing to help out. By far the most expansive and mind boggling REI I've been to!
Gabriel Cannon
This is an amazing building. REI isn't usually the cheapest, but you can find some good deals sometimes. The staff is super helpful. There is a climbing wall in here, great for the kids. Free 2 hr parking.
Scotty Duff (ScottyD)
I have a positive experience every time I step foot in the doors. No matter what adventure I am seeking that day whether it be backpacking or bike riding I always find someone extremely knowledgeable to help me with what I need.
Trey Meckel
The best outdoor shop I have ever visited. It has something for everyone (and I mean EVERYONE), spread generously in an old warehouse next to a river where you can even test their kayaks. Trail bikes, rock climbing, urban warrior, you name it, you'll find it here. Word to the wise: it is never NOT crowded, so during COVIS, you might want to wait until you're double vaxxed. Also, becoming a memever is highly recommended. Unlike most places, your points translate to real dollars that you can use against purchases. Yesterday, I was offered 20% off of an undiscounted, but out of season, item.
Victoria Anderson
Huge REI, they have the "garage sale" on the top floors. Entering the parking deck can be kind of a nightmare, so I would try to enter so you have to turn right. It's free parking for the first hour, and then you pay after that in the garage. The shoes area was limited access, so there was a line of people waiting to try on shoes.
Aasylumm Iinsanee
I always enjoy REI, as a rock climber they tend to have most if not all my needs. Though some places are a bit cheaper from time to time, the yearly dividens as a member can help make up for that.
Wes Siepiela
Just visiting Denver on my way to the Pacific Crest Trail, but stopped in this REI to get some fuel on my way. Very cool REI with outdoor landscaping and a climbing wall inside. Must have been a large factory/warehouse before this because they have plenty of space for all the gear you could possibly need. I admit the layout made it a bit difficult to find everything, but I'm sure there are plenty of people around to help.
Kacie Wallace
I *believe* this is the largest store in the U.S., I could be wrong though. But, there is basically an entire upper floor of garage sale/clearance items. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful as always in REI. If you like REI, go here.
Michael Granger
Very busy today but the lines went fast. Was able to buy a National Parks annual pass in just a few minutes. Lots of selection. Always love finding some new gadget that I must have.
Nancy Werkmeister
I have been an REI member since 1973 and their product continues to improve every year. I love the design of the flagship store. It is always fun to shop here.
John Smith
Bought some hiking shoes and rented a bike rack. Looked all around the store and was asked many times if we needed assistance. All went great. The building itself is too. Thanks
Jack Kollars
Huge selection, high prices but made to last, also love the dividends
Muhamad
This is a really unique REI store in a cool building!
Jacob Kania
Everyone's always so helpful. Nearly everything you can buy at REI is guaranteed to be high quality - it's usually more expensive than the cheap stuff on Amazon, but the experience and quality is just miles ahead. And, if you're an REI member, the return policy is amazing and the annual dividends help make the cost a little more manageable.
This store in particular is always really well organized and has plenty of variety for most backpacking/hiking equipment.
Nathan Bryce
This is my all-time favorite REI location! The Denver Flagship Store has a far better selection than any other REI in the area. I absolutely love the building as well!
Tam Ayers
This store is amazing. The pretty much have it all. Must see if you are visiting the Denver area.
Grant Meers
The products are great, the right employee for the right gear topic can be the best, the layout is well thought out. I've had great times at REI's in general, but some times I ask the wrong employees who are rude and don't have a good understanding of outdoor products. I like to think there are more great employees at REI then terrible ones though. Last thought, it is easy to spend too much there. :)
Mike Chow
THE coolest outdoor store, REI or not, I've ever been to. My wife and I were planning on doing some hiking and stopped in to grab a few things. Staff were all very friendly and knowledgable. Awesome environment and really good selection of gear. Could spend hours (and $$$) in here.
Thuan Tran
Best reason to visit Denver - amazing selections and services 🙂 …
CJ
incredible service! the building is old but very well maintained and gives you a rustic feeling when you walk in. anything outdoors or camping wise can be purchased here. been a member here for a while and they treat you like family. 10/10 would recommend a visit if your looking for and adventure and need the supplies to go on that adventure!
Chelsea Fredell
I just got new ski boots from REI today after rocking my old sale find of 10 years ago. Val was the BEST! She took time to figure out not only my foot but also helped me narrow down what felt right and not right about different boots until I had a perfectly fit boot. She was amazing and she did it all with a joyful and helpful attitude. Thanks Val!
Jon Frohlich
The flagship store used to be amazing. I could almost always find anything I needed and the staff were helpful. Lately the store is full of empty shelves and it's very difficult to find anything. If REI wants me as a customer they really need to improve their ordering process and actually have stock. I've noticed over the last few years a trend towards only carrying lower quality gear as well.
Sarah Lawson
Huge REI with great selection and a really fun atmosphere (natural wood, fireplaces, climbing rock, a yurt...) Staff are very helpful when it comes to choosing outdoor gear, and there's even a desk where park rangers give you info and maps about nearby local, state, and national parks! Always a fun place to go, even if you're not buying anything.
Stephen Holst
There's a reason why this is the flagship store. Everyone knows what the REI products are like but this location is just beautiful. You can go and hangout outside or walk around and enjoy the architecture. It's great that they saved such an interesting building. The attached Starbucks is a nice addition too.
Tim Jurasevich
Great selection of outdoor gear. Yeah, they don't always have the best prices nor largest selection and you don't want to get highly specialized items like ski boots here but if you need staples and some small items, especially in a pinch, it's great.
There is usually a decent selection of items on clearance for pretty good prices. I typically visit the clearance section first when i visit REI because you can get last year's stuff for often around half off.
The rental department had everything you'd need for camping (and probably some other things). The retail store is spacious and makes browsing a lot more enjoyable.
R W
This is definitely the premier REI in the city. Situated up against Confluence Park, this REI not only has an immense selection across at least 3 floors (to be honest I think there are more floors!), but there's also a Starbucks on one corner in case you need to stop for a drink after a day of shopping.
Gina Macleod
What an amazing store!!! We have REI’s in MN, but NOTHING like this place!
Everything was so clean, COVID protocols made us feel safe!
The Starbucks next door and the river with the park makes this REI a destination or a date night!!!
planeticketfortwo
Great place for outdoor apparel. Also if you're an architect or engineer there's great exposed to structure.
Nathan Baumgart
I went in looking for a new pair of shoes that would be good for winter bike riding and work. Collin helped me out for over an hour as we went through 15+ pairs of shoes. Had it not been for Collins persistence I would have tried another store. Great job! Thanks a bunch.
Laura R
This store always has what I'm looking for and I always enjoy their garage sales. The most my experiences here have been positive and their cashiers are friendly. Customer service in the respective departments is hit or miss. One time I was having issues finding hiking boots that didn't give me blisters. The guy who "helped" me didn't really listen to what I was looking for and pulled every boot that was too small and narrow, then disappeared. Another time I brought my bike in for repairs and they left it in the middle of the bike department for me to pick up. Lesson learned, now I just go in, pick up what I'm looking for, and head out.
CTransport52
I love REI. Once a month they larger locations like this one will do “garage sales” and it’s all used equipment.
REI exclusively sells high quality equipment so you know it’s all quality used gear.
Took a friend to this location for the first time and we loved it. So dope
Stephen Esch
Awesome place, love the building, and the selection is phenomenal. I've never been REI though it's just big and have so many products. Associate was really helpful and fitting shoes for my wife and daughter
Matt Weber
Do NOT LEAVE YOUR BIKE UNATTENDED. Even if locked. There are bike thieves that hide out with bolt cutters and WILL steal your bike. I’ve seen it happen twice and it is known by locals as a major hot spot. REI refuses to address this problem.
Sophie Kosiara
Wonderfully stocked store & a lovely area to sit & relax outside of the in-store Starbucks. At peak busy times, it's a fun spot to people watch by the river. The children's play area inside is too cute!
Brayden Farrar
Great service, very large retail space. A little confusing trying to find where you want to go, but the staff is very knowledgeable. They have a “parks” desk with a bunch of maps that can help you find that perfect hike no matter where you want to go.
Jason Smith
On to of being the coolest sporting goods store I've ever seen, this REI is in the most amazing historic building. I recommend going here even if you don't want to but anything; just walk around the building! There's also a Starbucks inside, so go there for a coffee, have a seat outside and enjoy the view of downtown Denver. Highly recommended!
Matthew Bierwirth
Normally we love this REI: it’s huge, so the selection is awesome and it’s just generally a cool store to walk around.
Today however, we had the misfortune of working with Elliot in the shoe department. He was openly upset that we asked for help in trying on some Chaco’s - he seemed frustrated by this simple request and was totally unprofessional. Our only other interaction with him was when he handed us the shoes and walked off without a word. I was going to try on some shoes after my wife, but after our interaction with Elliot I decided it simply wasn’t worth the hassle of dealing with this individual.
Tara Wells
The employees here are always friendly and helpful. Justine went above and beyond to help me find the item I was looking for. Thank you, Justine!
Daniel Farfan
Shoe section a bit disorganized since they don't use their scan code system, the outlet section on the top floor apparently is only for members, not clearly labeled as there is a small room that states that you must be a co-op member, but not the entire floor. Tried some bike shorts that were returned, got to the cashier and she informed me that I must be a member to purchase the item
Drew Aschman
A trip to REI is like a trip to Costco, almost never cheap. The positive is that you get a 10% dividend for all full price purchases for being a member, so definitely join the coop if you haven't already.
The Denver Flagship location is in a neat old building in a great location right on the Platte. Due to its size it has an insane selection of goods. The employees always seem eager to help and are often very knowledgeable.
And despite the location, parking is never an issue in one of the free lots.
Joseph R
This was the biggest REI I've been to and the rock climbing walls are amazing. They are replicas of real rocks and don't have the classic holds. The staff was very nice and helpful.
Karmen Berentsen
REI really doesn’t stand behind their service and quality. Huge shout out to Chewie and Jeff for their incredible service and listening to me as a customer. The bike shop is the best!
david harris
Parking is always a nightmare. Service is not what it used to be.
Great for camping gear, but for bikes there are better options
Lee M
Went in for a quick run down on my new hiking boots. Whether they were the right fit etc. Got a really extensive lesson from Gordon. Addressed any and all concerns I had. Turns out I just wasn't lacing them up right. Now my heels are locked in and I have supreme confidence in the gear I purchased. Their return policy is second to none as well! More expensive than bargain retailers but the knowledge of the staff more than makes up for it. The fact that you get one on one service from someone who really understands the gear is invaluable.
Samantha Welch
Every Rei team member that we interacted with was helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, and patient! They really knew the products, especially Justin, who provided a wealth of information on skiing products. Very covid safe as well! 💚 …
Jason Brent
Biggest REI I've ever been to. Almost got lost in there.
Roberto Garza
This REI is great. The store is massive and has so much to offer. There are a few things to keep in mind. Most any weekend and this place is packed. Which makes parking a little difficult but you can usually find a spot pretty quick. Next thing is the garage sale. Awesome! You do have to deal with the ticket system but it's worth it.
Mabel Zhang
The biggest REI I've been to. 3 stories with open floor plan and climbing wall. The view inside the store is just grand!! Equipment for so many kinds of sports. Tons of stuff for skiing, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, climbing, and the usual stuff. Many many backpacks and apparel. The size of this store location is just colossal. You can tell just by looking at the height of the building from outside. Very outdoorsy hip feel.
Math Teacher
Really big REI but typical REI prices. This a great location to check out all types of gear. The organization is a little confusing and it forces you to ask someone for help. The rock wall is the center piece of the store and a good place for your kids to get some energy out. The repurposed building is also very cool to walk around and look at.
Alpaca Bowl
Awesome stuff.
Suoer cool building
Kind people
Eli Tyo
Knowledgeable staff that love to show you the ins and outs of all the different gear they offer. I've never had a bad experience at REI. They rock.
Kyle Meador
Despite being a large store with every sort of outdoor equipment you could think of, every employee I have talked to at this location really knows the goods they sell. They are both helpful and patient even with the amount of foot traffic that is usually in the store. A quality company that has been at the front of outdoor adventures for years.
Mark Stewart
Helpful staff. Some of the stuff is a little pricey but I got 50 bucks off for prior purchases. They almost always have the stuff that I need.
Lee Carrell
Scott was great. Very helpful in selecting climbing shoes. He had a wealth of knowledge both objective and subjective. That they have a climbing wall to allow trying out climbing gear is a huge plus. And they have a one year return policy for worry-free purchasing!
Morgan Welch
Flagship REI store with just about every outdoor recreation need you can possibly think of. Employees live the job and typically have a good depth of knowledge when it comes to selecting gear. Also becoming a member can set you up with some great deals especially a couple times throughout the year when they send out 20% off one item!
Jacob Tschirhart
Best REI in Denver. The staff is always super helpful and the entire store is kept really clean and organized despite how much traffic they get. Parking is free under 2 hours if you can get a spot.
David Bolt
Great sales on gear and the garage sale make REI a great place for outdoor stuff. I wish my local store were as nice as the Denver flagship store. I especially like the comfy seating in the book section.
sarah soptic
Rhis REI is hard to walk around in. It's a cool building but really spaced out. It's like a mall. They do have good bargains on the top floor. They actually had some decent priced stuff and sales. Got everything j was looking for. Horrible place to go if you have a handicap. They do have an elevator though.
I must of looked outta place cause no one really asked to help me. The marylin Manson song the beautiful people kept running through my head. Lol
David Renner
This place is visually stunning. Go if only to see the amazing architecture. It's so stunning, REI should give you one of those audio devices for a self-guided tour. Truly amazing architechture (did I mention how amazing the architecture is? I did? Good.)
Michael Kane
Whenver I've visited this location I've found employees to be knowledgable and very helpful. Because I usually shop online first to zero in on what I want/need, I tend to snag the items for which I came quickly; after that it's hard not to wander a bit and find things that occupy my wish list, but that I'm not yet ready to buy. I never have a problem with parking, probably because I usually -- though not always -- go there during off-peak hours. Great place.
Olga Luevano
I loved how they treated us, they were really nice and respectable. They helped us when trying to look for a shoe size, including some recommendations. Also they had distance when trying to check out shoes.
Dayne Mills
This is the flagship store and it was an experience. The building was a converted old power plant. High ceiling with a large climbing wall. Cool stairways to multiple levels that are visible from the main floor. Always a great selection of quality merchandise. The Platt River is right outside and rei has created a rapid section to try out river kayaks.
Matthew Crum
Great experience shopping here. I've gone here for all kinds of purchases; snowboarding equipment, camping gear, climbing shoes, hiking boots etc. and each time i'm amazed by how knowledgeable and approachable their staff is. I've also rented camping equipment from here and received exactly what I expected. If you're trying to get into something knew and don't exactly know what you need, definitely go here first.
Simona Laprocina
REI in Denver now charges for parking if you stay over two hours. Also, their knife selection was pretty much non existent, order online for store pick up and save you a useless trip.
Gabby Law
Eric was great over at the mechanic shop. Had troubles with the REI up north getting our skis mounted, and when we brought them down Eric did his best to get them done ASAP even during their busiest time.
Kelli Brooker
Absolutely love this store and their variety
ToastytheG
I've been in and out of this REI for over a decade. I remember when they used to sell very rugged gear, mostly sourced from around the north America, for pretty cheap. Now it seems to be a lot of overpriced stuff from China. That would be fine if it were cheap but this is just not a good place to shop if you need quality outdoor gear or are anything other than a weekend warrior. Oh well. :/
Sam K
Spent 30 minutes on the climbing wall with 2 kids (ages 10 and 6).
Members pay just $5 for the climb. Climbing harness and shoes are provided, and one of the guides belays.
They offer a number of tracks which vary in difficulty. One of the great things about this wall relative to others is they make the rock look realistic instead of providing lots of bolt on ledges like most climbing walls offer.
Our guide was Matt who did a fantastic job with me and the kids. He got the youngest all the way to the top and provided great teaching, coaching and encouragement.

Great REI store. Located in a huge historic building next to the river. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. There's also a Starbucks located inside. This is definitely my favorite REI store to date.

You could spend hours and all your money in this place! It's massive. There's even a rock climbing wall. Store was well laid out with plenty of elevators, stairs, and ramps. Associates also delivered great customer service.

REI is a great store for active-wear and adventure supplies. The staff is always friendly, and prices are... Well they aren't cheap, that's for sure. But when they have a sale or a members only garage sale, it's worth it.

Holly was excellent with helping me with everything. Her and James. Thank you to both of them for helping make me get into backpacking a bit of an easier experience.

When the REI has multiple levels of parking dedicated to the building, you know you are in for a treat. Lots of selection and some decent help from the staff. There is a reason this is the flagship store. Would highly recommend a visit prior to heading to the mountains.

Largest REI in the state of Colorado. Lots of space to shop try and check things out for the outdoors person. Great selection on everything about sports. Courteous employees and very helpful. Patrick was great with us and very patient, helping us.

Happy with REI overall. The staff in the bike shop at the Denver location are very friendly and helpful. Not great communicators, but friendly.

I ordered an item online and accidentally put in the incorrect address. I called the courier and asked if they could change the address but they referred me back to REI. REI's customer service was great and they actually sent me a second item free of charge and told me to just return the first one if I get it. If I never receive the first one (because of my own error, not theirs) they would just take the loss. Now that's customer service!!!

I have made several trips to this location. There are lots of staff available. Parking is congested, not my favorite location to drive to. All great quality and extreme prices. I bought a pair of regular priced ski boots......I was debating between two models.....the salesclerk said "let me check something." He checked his phone and told me that the more pricey model was going on sale in a few days.....and that I could call in and get the price difference. I got a $100 REI gift card as a result. You can't argue with that! I couldn't make a trip back to the store during the sale period to get cash, I live five hours away, but I was happy with the gift card.

Reeves in the bike department was fantastic! Gave us soo much information and really helped us figure out what type of bike would fit best with our lifestyle. He seemed happy to help and was very nice.

Beautiful shop in a 100+ year old building. The facility has wall to wall outdoor gear as you'd expect, but they also have classes and activities. I saw an indoor rock climbing wall, a small play area for children, etc. If you're in Denver and in the area it's definitely worth a peek.

This is the flagship store. It's beautiful! Lots of products. They have a climbing wall too. There is a nice walking area outside. I just wish they would have a better range of prices. Almost everything in this store is expensive.

My favorite REI ever! All the great outdoor gear I love in a historical building beautifully repurposed. The Denver Tramway Power Company building has been remodeled to modern standards and reclaimed from blighted industrial site to bustling commercial. Worth a visit just for the architectural and structural history. Parking is free for the first two hours, $5/hour after that.

The best REI I've been to. Huge store, I got a little lost a few times lol. Super friendly and helpful at the door, in the hiking boot section, and when I went to return something. Love this REI!

This particular REI location was pretty awesome and unique. It's a massive building with several bicycle test tracks around the outside of the building. On the inside is a rock wall for testing new equipment as well as some testing rocks outside as well. The multi-story facility is impressive and has a plethora of items to cater to your particular sports and outdoor needs. There is also a Starbucks attached to the building so that you can pick up a coffee while you browse around.

It’s really big which is why I expect a lot of options. They have a good fleet of bikes and skis, when in season. However, for men’s cloths they simply have a lot of the same thing and not a good range of options. Wilderness exchange is at the corner near by and you can expect similar options in a store a fraction of
the size.

Stopped-by REI this day.. Was greeted by an employee as I entered..(Very NICE..!) Looked around the store, found the area I was looking for. Georgia helped Me find a few things..(Mentioned the membership to Me--I signed-up..!) Worked with Rae after that..She was also kind and helpful, and lastly, I worked with Brittany in the shoe dept. She was also extremely helpful and knowledgeable...(the only drawback, understandably so, however--is that I spent $650--(No BIGGIE) and then, after spending the time and making My purchase, I had to pay $12.00 for parking--Ouch..! (however, again, understandable--it's downtown, and parking is limited..! I Will Return..! MyOp==) #CustomerServiceTrumps..! :0) ~gina

This is the flagship REI location and it shows. Multiple floors of any recreational equipment you could need. If you like the outdoors in any way, you can find all the equipment you will need.
The staff are all very knowledgeable on their products and can make excellent suggestions based on your needs.
Finally, the national forestry service has a desk here to help with hiking and camping.

Jeff gave me the best customer service you could ever ask for. He spent a long time with me helping me pick out a backpack and sleeping bag for some backpacking trips I have planned. Jeff deserves employee of the month!
There are times in the store gets really busy and it's actually hard to get help, but the employees here fantastic and they love with they do.

I love this store. It's always super clean and has a great selection of gear. The surrounding area is awesome. I find myself going here to just hang out and chill near the river.

Everything you would expect from REI's flagship store. A must visit if it's your thing.

I had a great experience with Val from the ski boot fitting section! She spent hours with me trying to find the best fit for my difficult feet. She is the best

Very big intimidating place. The staff are very helpful though. I bought my Keen shoes from a different place and sadly they have not lasted for 6 months. Had I bought them at REI I could have returned then today and got a new pair. Now I have to wait to see if Keen is going to cover them. I bought a pair of Keen sandals and now know that if I have any issues over the next 12 months they are covered. Shop REI.

I’ve been to this location many times as it is a downtown Denver gem. Unfortunately, I recently had an experience that prompted me to write this review just to ensure that others aren’t subjected to what happened to me.
First off, let me start by saying that this is NOT the cashier’s fault, who was very helpful and friendly. When he initially rung me up, he apologized for trying to sort out some of the kinks in their new POS system. This was no inconvenience to me and I completely understand trying to learn a new interface. When I inserted my debit card to pay, it said that the transaction was approved and I chose to email me a receipt. Apparently a cryptic error message was printed out on their side of the register which made it seem like there was an issue with the transaction. I quickly checked my bank account which revealed that I had been charged so it appeared like it went through ok (and that the issue was only with their system). Understandably, the cashier didn’t want me to leave yet as it did not kick out the receipt. A couple managers came by and I was told that they needed to re-ring everything back up and start a new transaction. Once I went to pay the second time, the same thing occurred. I was asked to try a third time for which I refused as now I had two charges for a large amount of money sitting on my account. They were able to void the last one to return the funds to my card but the first one remained “pending”. I was assured that the charge would “fall off” within 24 hours. The manager offered to ring me up at the customer service desk as it was still on the old system. He was nice enough to provide me with a 20% discount on select items due to this issue but I was still a little worried for the outstanding charge. He wrote up a report of what happened and assured that he would look into it and call me to follow up. Sure enough, the following day, the charge had actually posted so I called them to resolve the issue (get money back). They said “well it’s not showing on our end so we can’t do anything”. Meanwhile that’s over 400 bucks that I was overcharged. The manager said he would try to resolve it and give me a call back. It’s been a couple days and I haven’t heard anything. I do not like posting negative reviews especially when the employees are simply trying to abide by policy but this was a huge oversight and they should have QC’d their new system before rolling it out. Some people can not afford to be out any amount of cash due to some carelessness.
Just please be careful if you run into this.

I have had a few experiences with REI staff being generally clueless, but the other day I got some pedals installed on an ancient mtb, and was pleasantly surprised by the bike shop employees dedication. The old pedals did not want to come off, but they got the job done, and very cheap.

Beautiful old building! Fun to get lost in.

For one the coop is an excellent thing. Become a member you'll never regret it. A crew member greets you at the door. Will answer any question and will direct you to your needs. There's always a team member close by to help you out. If you need a beverage there's a Starbucks inside the building.

Massive location, lots and lots of inventory. A fun place with many levels to wander and dream of outdoor adventures to come. Many associates were so kind and more than helpful, extremely knowledgeable. A few however totally ignored me or walked away after acknowledging me. Such a big location it is hard for them to track down a specific item at times.

curbside situation needs improvement. you need to have another lane for vehicles that have already received their purchase to get out and around others who are still waiting. there are understandably a lot of orders and less people working than usual. but if this is going to be for the sustainable future, there needs to be improvements in the system.

Fantastic customer service even during the mad rush of the sale. Josh helped me pick out my first road bike. He took the time to carefully review details pertinent to my situation and goals and then fit me to a bike that I'm super happy with -- can't wait to start tri training! Brian in the bike rack dept was similarly helpful in selection and ordering a new rack. Thanks, guys!
