We liked campground. Spots are spread out. Clean bathroom. Nice hosts. There are few small trails from camp. Only thing we don't like- a bit noisy from the main road. And great playground makes kids happy. Drinking water, no electricity.

Great stay at a great price.
Came into golden to camp, hike, and to look at the School of Mines.
We reserved a spot for one night, but there ended up getting a first come first serve for three nights.
Our spot had some great views, had a bathroom and water, and was a good price.
Close enough to golden to drive down and do the things there, but far enough away and enough of an elevation increase that it’s quiet and cool.

Good campground overall. Site 24 was a great, shaded site for our trailer except for close proximity to vault toilets made for consistent odor into the site - it is what it is. Really cool hiking trail to beautiful view. Camp host loaned us jumper cables for dead battery on our truck! Site was clean and ready upon arrival. Vault toilets very clean. Noise level was quiet, was afraid we were too loud! Kids loved climbing and playing around the boulders behind site 24. Had a young moose (cow) walk right behind our site, couldn’t believe how close she was! Water was off during our stay, but was aware before we arrived.
Close location to Black Hawk is cool, but not much in the way of restaurants that we found, mainly the casinos. Not sure you could get a massive trailer in the sites, but we’re a few decent sized rigs.
It’s a good campground. Our experience that site 24 was great for us despite the random toilet odors. Were there early July, got warm during day for sure, but cooled off quite a bit at night.

Beautiful vista just a short hike, clean bathrooms, no showers, but there's a gas station not far with showers if you need them. Bear boxes and good tent sites with fire pits. Very friendly hosts, even brought us a dollar change when we overpaid for wood (get a dollar off of 3 bundles, we didn't see the note until after we paid). It's at around 9200 feet, so be prepared for the cold. We got rained on pretty good, but still had a blast.

Beautiful little campsite full of silver aspen and wildflowers. We stayed at Site 15 and loved it. I'd recommend anything from 12-16 for a combination of relative privacy and mountain views--the sites are set diagonally from the road, on slope, so each is quite far from its neighbors compared to other large campgrounds.
Water was on when we there, bathrooms were nice for vault toilets, and camp host had firewood with a lockbox for cash payment ($6/bundle).
Take the short scramble up to the viewpoint (near site 20) for a pretty vista view. Chilly at night, even in mid July. Nederland is your closest best for non-casino restaurants, shops, etc.
The only downside was the highway noise, inescapable anywhere on the campgrounds but especially awful at the sites that are next to the highway. I would NOT recommend these--they look directly over the highway and have little privacy.

Small basic campground. Amenities are simple but adequate: cleanest pit toilets you've seen and water (not available to fill RV tanks but Base Camp is a campground and shop near by that does for a nominal fee). Playground is nice. Central to lots of great hiking and attractions.

Awesome place for up to a few weeks getaway in the RV. Ample water storage tanks are helpful here. No generator after 9pm I believe it was. Near to Black Hawk and lots of small mountain towns. There is a fire pit and picnic table at each site.
Kids next to my camp on the hill a bit chopped a tree down with a hatchet and the whole family was asked to pack up and leave that next morning. Respect nature here!

Nice place, very clean and you javelin the option of 1st come 1st serve from 1 to 20 camp site. 25$ the day and 2 parking spots. Only thing that IL make it magical is a shower. Otherwise it is lovely, safe and quiet

This is one of my favorite camping spots in CO. I usually get spots up the hill to be away from the road. The park staff and sheriff's dept patrols the loop fairly frequently. It has bear boxes and a few toilets. As a note, there's a quiet time starting at around 10pm. During the summer

Went on a spur of the moment solo camping trip on a Monday and managed to snag one of the last free-for-all spots. They have great prices, great location, and it was such a peaceful night.
Erin Hamilton
Great sites, clean bathroom, friendly site managers. Only complaint is we could hear the highway from our site (05).

we really liked this place. even tho there was no body of water within walking distance we still enjoyed it. bathrooms and water was nearby at almost every camp ground. raised toilet were always clean and there was minimal odors. well kept and frequently cleaned. the gentleman who watches it came by and introduced himself and told us he sells firewood and instructed us about quiet time. 10p. nothing negative to say. there was also a shell gas station about ten minutes away if you need anything, reasonable prices.

It was great! There wasn't any loud, obnoxious people. There weren't very many places to camp since there were so many people, but I would understand because it is a great place to go with friends or family. It was clean, and you didn't have to worry about finding a flat spot to put up your tent. If you have an RV you are welcome there. The way up there was so beautiful since the only other mountains I have been through are the Applachian Mountains, there were more trees and less rocks. Overall, it was a great place to stay.

The campground is clean and well maintained. Water spigots located around the campground as well as vault toilets. The only negative I can find is the road noise. It is located next to a fairly busy highway with a mix of regular cars and big rigs which downshift as they descend the hill. Otherwise, it's close to many opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors and it serves as a great homebase.
Most of the sites are reserve only. However, I believe that there are 13 walkup sites that are first come first served. It's a busy campground on the weekends.

Tent camped here when I came in last minute and couldn't find an empty spot down the mountain. Glad I ended up here because I had a great 4 night stay on the mountain! Onsite management, well maintained, toilet houses and dumpsters. Get EVERYTHING you need from the Walmart down the mountain before going up, or you will regret it! Quiet, all campers were very friendly and I met everyone around me by sitting out by the fire.

Nicely groomed campsites. One of the water taps was blocked off, but there was another one not too far away. The toilets were clean and well maintained. I appreciated the bear boxes. The only drawback was the fire ban, but that isn't the campground's fault. We had fun watching the chipmunks and hummingbirds.

We did our homework, better choice than Reverend's Ridge at GGCSP because its more spacious, and more privacy between campsites, if you can live without electricity. Tall trees. Spectacular mountain range views from your campsite #s 12 through 18. Only minus, close to Route 119, sometimes traffic got loud.🌳🌲🌳🌲🌳🌲🌳🌲 …

Cold Springs is an excellent campground - very clean & beautiful, as well as central to a lot of great places. It is near a fairly busy road, but the convenience of access outweighs a little noise. We stayed in site #5 (with 3 backpacking tents) & found our stay of a few days to be very enjoyable.
Hungry Dutch
Somewhat noisy in the early mornings, as trucks pass on the highway, their engine brakes rattle the calm. Currently very smoky in the early morning hour, due to the wildfires.

This is a nice campground, close to some great hiking and casino towns. RV sites are fairly narrow, very few would be able to open slides and awning. Road noise is bad during the day if you're near the highway, it does quiet after dark. The hosts were friendly and bathrooms not too bad. Overall a good experience.

Overall experience was amazing me an my husband spent our 3 year wedding Anniversary here an its a very clean well put together place very family friendly or just an awesome get away.

The sky at around 11pm was the best ever, we had issues starting our fire and the host was kind enough to give us some free lighter fluid which came in handy (thank you again if you're reading this!). Host was very polite, campground was not full at all and people respected quiet hours. Great stay!

Cool primite campground, first come first serve. Camphost really nice, bathroom clean, no shower, water available in three different points. Spots were pretty private. We recommand.

This is a well set up campground. Vaulted toilets are clean maintained. The sites are a good space apart. I would not use an extra large tent in some of the sites. Our cabin tent didn't fit the tent pad. Most sites have steps up to or down to the actual site. There is a day use area with picnic tables and grills. You can visit some nice views. You will hear the road from a few of the sites. It's not enough to be disturbing though. Definitely not like the highway noise you would hear from a KOA or the likes. The host were polite and on multiple occasions i saw them deliver firewood to campers. They also stopped and picked up trash that others had carelessly left about when leaving their campsites.

I love this campground! There are so many wildflowers and trees - more than what I've seen anywhere else. Very green. Beautiful trails. I went on a 5 mile hike with pretty steep grades but it was beautiful! Never seen so many Colorado Columbines. Ate some wild strawberries on that hike too.
The campground itself is very clean and well maintained. It had a playground which you normally don't see at campgrounds. The sites are very nice but some of them are a little close to each other. There are a few that are more spread out and private but not many. My only real complaint is that it's a little close to a busier road. I still really loved the location though since it was just a few miles passed Blackhawk. I've been back many times!

Campgrounds around Colorado have been slammed for the last few months. We pulled into, an almost full campground, on a Thursday night looking for a spot for the weekend. Two others arrived at the same time. Shout out to Mike, the camp host, who did a great job directing groups to the remaining spots that would work best for their setup. The campground was well taken care of and mostly quiet.

We camped here on 9/24 when our other plans fell through. There were still spots available Saturday night and it had great campsites and clean restrooms. It was both a pro and a con that it was so easy to locate as you could hear the highway throughout the night. Only real complaint was that it was $18 for a nights stay plus $6 for an additional car. Overall, it was a beautiful campground and I would definitely return.
CinColo
Great location but not good for tent camping. I slept bad all 3 nights because I could hear the big trucks on the highway. You do have to walk down or up 5 or 6 steps to your campsite, which is unique and the spots were separated decently. The flowers and aspen trees also made it a lovely campsite.
Tyler Pribbeno
Conveniently located on the Peak to Peak Highway and readily accessible even by motorcycles. The campsites had plenty of space between them although you could often hear your neighbors talking, but usually couldn't make out what they were saying, so there is some privacy. The only disappointment of this place were the vault toilets. I knew going into then they would not be flush, but that would have made this place even better.
John Thorne
Bathrooms need major service, but the weather and scenery were perfect.
Matt B
Great campsite in the mountains with a short hike to a awesome vista. Highly recommended! The campsite is a little close to the highway so there is some road noise but we were on our motorcycles so it worked for us!
Marvin Gibson
Great camp host. Extremely clean restrooms. Beautiful area.
David Adair
Great campsite, doing some work on a few of the sites and some of the water spickets are turned off. Be sure to bring your earplugs if you want to be able to sleep at night, the road noise is very loud.
GhostRadNinja Productions
Not the best camping place but it's alright if you like to be around people, the camping spots are kind of small but what makes up for it is the hiking trails. It has such a beautiful view when you get to the top and wonderful sight seeing. It's kinda makes up for the small camp ground spots.
Annette Casey
So enjoyed the camp ground, so friendly and very helpful. We went for a hike on the trails, seen
a moose go through our camp early in the morning. Wow! The help they gave us when our car would not not start on our last day, thank you so very much to the camper and his family who gave us a jump start. We will most definitely camp here again😊.
JC Kirk
The only complaint and I probably will not be back is all of the loud and obnoxious highway traffic ALL night long. Loud trucks and screaming sport bike motorcycles racing up and down the highway.
The camp hosts were very nice and welcoming.

Nice area. Has cell signal, bathrooms, and water (no hose attachements.). A campground host was salty about parking an RV in the forest picnic area for several hours after staying at the campsite overnight.
Ashley Ellis
Nice camp ground, good size spots.
Dave Stampfl
Love this place! Always clean and a great getaway place! The hosts are great too! We have been camping here for years.
Dejan Jordanoski
Great campground.
Hosts are very kind and helpful.
Malcolm Brown
Well kept campground with a playground for the little ones. You can hear traffic from the highway but it's a great getaway spot only about 45 minutes from downtown.
Jim Carpenter
Clean, peaceful and semi secluded. Host and employees are very helpful and friendly. Many trails to hike , you'll be impressed not disappointed.
Jane Sinclare
Campground is great! The Vista Trail, however, that starts in the campground, needs to be better marked. Got lost on the way down, as did a couple friend of mine on separate hikes.
Vince Burke
Campground was fantastic nicely kept and cleanest bathroom I have ever seen in a camp site and the camp hosts were great and friendly even gave bubbles to my kids to play with deffently will be coming back in the future
Thomas Meola
Well kept site. Nice location. Not to noisy even though it is close to the road. I was there off season and had the whole place to myself. It can and does get crowded fast on weekends during the summer.
Danah Wirth
Well kept up sites with beautiful views of the mountains. Nice fire pits and charcoal grills in each site, close to a decent out-house, and random water spickets. Very pleased!
Stacy Nussrallah
