Reviews of Finlay Park
It seemed to be alright from my passing through, though as many of my fellow reviewers have said, the homeless have really made this their place. Not saying they shouldn’t necessarily be there, but San Diego for example has places where the homeless cannot be, and public parks are one of the places, so maybe Columbia should look into that. In addition, I picked up a nice postcard taken in the park by the fountain, and when I went to visit it, it was dry and not functioning, which wasn’t the biggest deal in the world to me, but it would’ve been nice. Lastly, the views of the skyline are pretty nice, as well as the view to the east of the city in the Midlands. Still, worth a visit if a resident or a visitor. Cheers.
In some reviews you can see this park in its “hey day” when we arrived I was expecting it to be in that condition. However it’s overgrown and rundown in a really fun way. We enjoyed walking through and checking it out.
It is a Beautiful place for a photo shoot. There are numerous ares and stairs all around the park to take breathing taking photos. You can have a bike ride or nature walk and there are various sitting areas along the paths. The best part for me is the partial stadium stone sitting area that reminds me of the Elizabethean Era. I recall reading in literature class, the scenes where live plays were performed and women and men sat on stone seating watching Shakespearean plays. This is how I imagined it looked during that time period. I highly recommend visiting Finlay Park!
I hope this is helpful please follow me on Instagram @ mrsladykdavis.
A good park to visit but you have to remember a few key things.
The water fountain is now temporarily closed, the water quality of the lake is very worse. Dumped contaminants are everywhere in the lake. The park is dirty. The most attractive entrance of the lake is full of dirts. The park has a good city view.
This is a great downtown park that has undergone many changes throughout the years. There used to be a beautiful waterfall but that area is overgrown and shut down. Once that area is clean back up this will definitely be a five-star Park but in the meantime it only gets 3 stars. The playground is amazing and a wonderful place to spend at least an hour or two.
A beautiful oasis of nature in the middle of Columbia. It has a nice pond and fountain with walking paths and a playground. The playground is great for able bodied children but not for those with special needs. The park hosts numerous events and concerts throughout the year. Parking is limited and you could end up walking a couple blocks to get here.
Great open space. Attracted a lot of houseless folks (visited in Feb) and the water features were dry. Probably a great place to provide some cover and resting area for those needing it.
The water features still broken which is a real big bummer. the new playground area is nice. Way more homeless people than I remember from when I was a kid.
Beautiful park, we were visiting from Charlotte, it was a beautiful day. Had a great time!
The community leaves the space underused in it's neglect, but it's truly a wonderful park. The playground is perhaps the most intricate and entertaining in the city. Grass is maintained and wide open. The only thing missing are events to keep people coming in the evening.
It's a nice place but it lacks the maintenance...the structure it's awesome but the park it's in a deplorable state. The fountains are damaged, there's a lot of homeless people just sleeping in the grass. The kids park it's nice it looks almost new
The park is a bit run down, dirty, lots of sleeping homeless. However, this park offers some of the best views of the city, and the playground/field is nice and no one bothers you there. I run through the park several times a week, never been bothered.
There is an awesome ministry for the homeless lead by Abednego and Craig sunday mornings at 9! We have had at least 20 baptisms!! Thank God for the ones that truly desire to change lives!
I've lived in SC for over 30yrs. Finley park is a safe park. Responsible police officers are to be thanked for that. No special treatment for anyone.👍 …
I had a awesome time with the homeless eat talk n watch cars pull up left right awesome, keep up the great work but less add sum spiritual feeding as well Music Words n other Acts Ok Respect Thanks 🙏👍 1... …
A very quiet place to unwind. If exercise is your thing, the air and running water are very soothing to everyone.
Great place to practice parcore beside the homeless people, other than that stay away from the strangers and have fun
My experience: the place is nice to rest a little and relax, as long as you do not stay near the stairs, since it is very lonely there are always homeless people and some are not very nice (keep in mind that), there is a parking lot with parking meter.
This park has a nice walking path and the playground was so awesome. It reminds me of a Ninja Warrior mini course. There were a lot of homeless people though and a little trash around.
This has to be the most beautiful public park I've ever seen. Absolutely breathtaking and it sits in Downtown Columbia, SC
There is a remarkable waterfall with pools that are refreshing to the soul. There are playgrounds for the kids and it is pet friendly. There is a plateau just off Assembly that also has a scenic view. Go during the day or early afternoons as the park is home to a large proportion of "homeless" people who will ask you for 50 cents, bus fare and the like.
It was nice to visit after five years. As an artist, I could see the beauty and strength in the homeless people like art. I've but they looked stronger than me.Prayers to the Homeless they're "Fighters"!
Love this little park, blooms all coming out and smelling fantastic!!
This park is beautiful, peaceful, and clean. It has public restrooms. Not the prettiest, but it's what you expect with a public restroom in a park. The pond is cute. The playground is fun my kids did not want to leave and they enjoyed doing cartwheels in the big open field.
Was a nice park kids enjoyed the playground & walking around the water but was a lot of homeless hanging out in the park & near the restrooms by the parking lot & seen a couple ppl sleeping under a tree near the waterfall first time taking the kids to it but took some nice pics cause it was a lot of nice background to take pics at
So sad that this beautiful park has so many homeless people at it. They stay away from the actual kids park but needs more police presence to feel safe. Very unfortunate that the city put so much money into this place and this is what it’s turned into. Has a lot of potential if the homeless weren’t allowed to camp out literally.
It's in a great location near downtown. There is an area for the kids to play and is very nice. The only problem or issue is that the homeless people kind of are taking over. Hopefully it can be cleaned up and better taken care of
Beautiful place, currently having renovations done. Too many homeless people makes visiting this park less than safe. Saw several discarded needles in the grass. Would not recommend going till maybe after they finish the renovation
Hello, luvies! It's Peaches once again roaming these Carolina streets. So, if you're from Columbia South cackalacky you all know that Finley Park is one of the main areas where the homeless gathers and/or stay. On December 12th I went there along with my daughter in law, and we passed out 110 care packages to the homeless. See all pics of me putting the project together❤ and then watching it come to Fruition. You'll see one of our many homeless men.. singing us a song 🎵 with such humble spirit.(wish I could download video😔) Finley Park serves multiple purposes in the METRO. BEFORE THE COVID 19 They would have numerous concerts, activities, and at late nights it serves as a shelter for the less fortunate. Hats 👒 🎩 off to city for multi tasking the usage of the park, until they workout a better system to help our homeless. ☝️🛐🙏🤞🤞🤞👊👊👊😉
This place use to be attractive but now it's just a dogs park. However, they are renovating/ updating it to bring it back to life. So, I would say in a few months or years. This park will become the new attraction.
The Park is currently closed on some ends due to covid ( no maintenance being done ) nor big water fountain working at the moment but you can still walk around inside and enjoy the walk or jog and the kid park is also open for use. Some walk around on their lunch break... its still beautiful, definitely need to bring back the big water fountain thats what makes it magical!
The property itself seems to be well maintained and mowed regularly. However it also seems to be the gathering place for the local homeless population, so there is some trash scattered about.
I am not here to give a 3-star review to a park because it attracts loitering. That's petty and classist. But I WILL give a bad review to a park because I think it's poorly designed. It's inaccessible for brief recreation downtown (even though it is literally a block from Main St), and it's features aren't well marked.
Came on Thanksgiving day to give out food to the homeless people that be in the park
Park has been round for many years. This location in the past have had many great concerts, which the concerts has stopped over many years now. In a year or more this location will see an face lift with more entertainment and outdoors receration.
Definitely a great spot for a family picnic. You have to pay for parking and where we parked you had to walk down a lot of stairs. So if you have young kids or a stroller it might be hard, but there are other places to enter. Only downfall is that there isn't anywhere to sit close to the playground unless you bring your own chair.
Well I had a great experience is my first time visiting the park it was definitely very beautiful and peaceful other than the homeless people but that was okay too we all have to live. But I do think the city can do a better job of keeping in place cleaner and keep them leaves and the debris picked up and it being a very nice if they could turn the water fall back on. But overall I enjoy walking through the park.
It's not what it used to be! I miss the fountain running at the top and the waterfall underneath the fountain, but it's still a great place for photoshoots and festivals.
Love visiting. Park is usually clean and the view of downtown is breathe taking. I spent a lot of lunch breaks here when I lived in the area. There can be a lot of homeless people there but they don't usually bother you. Great place to workout and talk a walk. Nice for picnicking and hosting events.
No longer much of a functional park. No water fountains/waterfalls/cascades, but structure still there with overgrown weeds and a place for the homeless. Apparently hasn't been used in years. Too bad. Looks like it used to be very nice.
Things were nice and calm. The homeless people made me feel a bit uneasy, especially lingering around my car in the parking lot, other than that someone had an aggressive dog, a Rottweiler at the park and allowed it to run free for a moment, which was also alarming.
The park during the day is a nice place. Specially during events like this where the event staff take over the whole park. I just don't know if they've done anything about the homeless that use it as a sleeping area after dark. It'd be great if they could fix the water sculpture, but I get why they haven't up to now.
The park is beautiful, and the playground was a lot of fun. But there are a lot of homeless people around. I visited around noon on a week day, and there was a guy on a bench just staring at my son and me while we were playing. I didn't feel 100% safe.
Loved it,was actually in Greenville to meet my daughter and we ended up there
It's not what it once was. When I was a child, it was a favorite. It's since definitely gone downhill. The playground is nice but they need to get the fountain back up and running...clean the water. I also don't feel safe there anymore. I miss the days when it had families, bike riders, people playing frisbee. Those were the days.
I have been going to Finlay park for months now. It's a huge park that is pet-friendly. There is a lot of homeless that hang around there but they stick to themselves so it's not a big deal. It is a safe place to have a good time. They have kids park but that's about it.
Over all nice place to go to, yes there are homeless people, but they never said anything out of the way or ask for money. Park could use a little cleaning, see a review posted from Neil Neilli, said it was very dangerous because of the homeless people, it is sad they're homeless but it could happen to anyone, we never know what might happen in our lifetime. Didn't see any homeless people walking around with guns in their hands or pulling knives on people. I don't see them to be dangerous but down on their luck, these people are human and has a heart and feelings too. If you visit this city I would recommend visiting the park if you have the time.
It was a beautiful day at Finlay Park today. The park is well kept and has great walking paths around the park.
The day I was there the place was overflowing with homeless persons , apparently there was an aid group that was serving them a hot meal that day. There is a wonderful new children's play area at one end of the pond , and the Park area overall was fairly clean. The waterfall, Fountain and waterways have all been inoperative for sometime and appear to be in very bad condition.
Took the kids here on Saturday for the afternoon and they had fun. Right in the heart of Down town so it was easy to find and easy to get to with no traffic. We had no issues with parking and finding the place. Kids loved the playground of course. They played on that thing for an hour straight and had fun the whole time. Amazing Views of the park and the city from all angles. Large grass field to fly kites or play with the family. Bring a blanket and have a picnic or just bring the food and use one of the many tables around the park at your convienance. Well be back.
Theres a lot of homeless people there but I'm homeless myself. I would say that everyone should look into the project they're doing for Finlay park now which they're fixing to change the park because it used to be the Heart of the City and is no longer. It has a great playground though.
Despite the water works not being operable most of the time, it’s a nice park. The homeless population drives people away though. It has declined in cleanliness and use over the years. Again, the homeless population is a deterrent to people taking families to the park.
Finlay Park was such a gem when it was completed in the early 90s. Now, because of lack of Maintenance and priority by mayor Benjamin and city council it is in a state of disrepair. The trash can be easily remedied. The homeless ? I do not think you can ban them but you could have them clean up their act. Repairs? If mayor and city council can throw 30 million dollars at a minor league team then they can certainly come up with the money for repairs. Maybe they could fix the Riverwalk, also.
My church went out to feed the homeless. We do it once a month and make sure we clothing for them as well. Restoration Community Outreach Ministries and Faith Deliverance Outreach Ministries.
Need more events for young people it has plenty of ground space
A very nice and new children's playground was the highlight, along with a great lawn. The fountain that's in all the pictures was dry, which was disappointing. The primary drawback was the large number of homeless in the park. This made me somewhat uncomfortable being there with my kids. In the end, the kids had a good time, but I felt on gaurd the whole time, which dampened my enthusiasm.
Pretty rundown place. Half of it is unused and just empty. The rest of the park is full of people, usually homeless people as far as I could tell without asking them. Lovely playground though, not as cookie cutter as other parks.
Great, quiet, and clean park. Sat on the grass while the kids played in the park. Visited with my lil sister and cousins, felt safe and had a lovely time.
Beautiful park, amazing playground & pond. The only downfall is the homeless constantly roaming around that park. Also the fact that there are barely anymore park benches due to the homeless sleeping on them
A beautiful park! The people living there are in search of dignity. They are not homeless by choice although poor choices probably led to this condition for many. They are not dangerous. Please stop and speak with them. Have an extra pair of socks, shoes, hat, or jacket? Give those instead of money. We are all God's children. Right? Enjoy the park.
We went to the park to let the grandkids burn off see energy and found it to be a nice place. The park has a nice playground, it's well maintained and has a nice fountain in a lake. The only thing that the park lacked were some more benches.
Finlay Park appears to be cleaned up. It looks like it is now a park where you could take your children to unwind; there is a walking trail to walk on, and a new playground for the children to play on-my grandchildren loved the park, and so did I.
Great design for a park and very beautiful. 3 stars because I wouldn't advise women to walk alone any time of day or anyone to walk alone at night. Unsafe and many homeless people milling around - most harmless but some with clear mental illness
Oh yard boy...the Merdals could use a little fertilizer to restore its Exuberance!
The park staff work hard to keep the facilities nice. Our transient brothers and sisters there are always in need of some bottled water on hot days, so go on down and show them some love!
Large urban park in the heart of Columbia. As with all inner city parks, there is a homeless element, but they are just one group of many that frequent the park and overall it is a lovely place. There is a path out of the edge of the park that is also nice that takes you to the large cemetery by the 126 bridge. It is a great little walk and lots of fun.
I love the updated play area but there's no seating around the play area. The water is always icky, it could be cleaner and taken care of a little better tho!
Went to feed the homeless on a Saturday morning. Gave out food bags and masks. Everyone was appreciative. Didnt know the fountain wasnt working. The city needs to do something about this.
Went down to take blankets and bookbags to the homeless. It was awesome and they really appreciated the items. Will be going back to take more items and food. It was good for my daughters to see that there are people that live like that.
It's a great park if you're looking for open space, a playground, and maybe even some cardio for Mom and Dad.. definitely park in the road or sides if you don't have a good heart (lol) those steps and hills are killer. Will definitely be back for a workout and for the kids to play
Nice park, yet there is opportunity to help the homeless, in the process it's a great family spot. The park is always clean. Security is always present to insure your safety.
This was a gem, the jewel of parks in Columbia. It had a cafe above, a wonderful fountain with a beautiful waterfall, a great children's area by the cafe and waterfall area, and a clean pond. Now, none of that is there, though there is a new children's area farther away.
Under the Benjamin administration, it has been allowed to deteriorate greatly, now becoming a homeless hangout and sleeping area. Maybe that is why the city restricted night time citizen use of the park and swings, which were so popular with couples late at night after a play or movie.
The city originally hosted Saturday evening concerts from Memorial to Labor day. But now only about 5 or 6, and every other Saturday. Such a shame, but city says there is no funds for it, though mayor Benjamin did get a salary raise from $17,500 tp $75,000, enough to fund concerts every Saturday. If he did as he promised when he ran to give back half his salary, there still would be enough for weekly concerts.
It should be restored to bring it back to former glory, as it is a great place to walk, play and relax. So much so that I even met people who came from Charleston just to use the park!
Hopefully one day it will be.
New info is now city council wants to sell part of the park to commercial interests. This should effectively kill the park for mass events and evening concerts. Already our mayor has reduced the number of summer concerts by 50%.
My husband and I were here @ Finlay Park one Sunday when whooa we discover that Eddie Money is doing a free concert! We saw Eddie up close and personal. RIP Eddie Money 2019. The park is beautiful, I like the falls
Addendum: I remember when: this area was a huge, deep empty gully/hole. U understand why I like Finlay Park!
The kids play area is good. However, there is a lot of construction currently taking place and the bathrooms are not very clean. The people residing at the park are not interactive but quite a few. Not a place I will be returning to.
Beautiful park! A must go if you are new to Columbia. The park highlights a majestic view of the Columbia skyline. Park features various festivals, concerts and shows throughout the year. There is a walking and running trail, a nice playground for the kids, and plenty of green space and trees for the perfect picnic.
Don't mind the Homeless, they won't bother you. Needs LOTS of repairs, mainly fountain. All in all, wonderful spot to spend an afternoon with the family. The Wednesday night, 8pm church meets and meals are a plus.
It's a pretty green space. There's a nice, newer playground for older children. However, it's not intended for toddlers. It didn't even have a swing set.
Not bad for a stroll or a workout. Kind of dirty. I don't know when they last turned on the fountain.
I love it here I used to enjoy bringing my children to play at the park here however is a lot of construction going on right now there is no park for the children the waterfall is no longer working it's still a nice place for the different venues that are on stage from time to time.
Park is over crowed with homeless people I normally take big bulks of food when I go there to feed the homeless ! But they've blocked the pallet off where people were serving food to the homeless at what a shame
Beautiful park. Shakespeare was perfect. Bathroom was a Superfund site with a half-naked homeless man in it. The city has done a shamefully poor job of taking care of this place.
I think it is great the city put this here. We love the sprawling layout, pretty unique in Cola. Of course, the park needs playground updates. And is that restaurant ever open? And I wouldn't go there (anymore) at night. Otherwise, five stars.
It kind of has a down in a hole feel. The parking is complicated to navigate, the gated area and its hours when the park itself has something going on later is annoying. I do love the Shakespeare in the Park tough. The audience area is just perfect for an outdoor venue in the South where the heat can get caustic. It has just the right combo of shade and breeze.
The movie night is cool in theory, but the sound system is so terrible that if you're going to see a movie you've never seen, it would be better to skip it.
Columbia's homes park .
This place could be so much more !
It's arguably the best park in South Carolina but being downtown it does have a bad homeless problem but outside of that there's a playground and a sprinkler and a body of water and a nice large tree and plenty of tables and chairs, all occupied by the homeless of course...
It's a very pretty park unfortunately now it a large homeless population who there most days...if only some more places that these could rest and feel comfortable..
I like the playground, just not the kids that play. Most of them are very rude. Lots of homeless stays there. But great when there's a movie night or events going on.
The park is beautiful and not crowded. Went there to hear sermon which was wonderful. Ate great food and listened to great music
Beautiful park. Great place for kids family and walking the dog. Don't be scared of the homeless people
Finley Park nicely design tier level offer awesome views.
A CROWN JEWEL in the heart of Columbia SC! The walking trails are still comfortable. Renovations are currently underway and hopefully will be completed soon!
Ya know I've been reading all the reviews about finley Park and all it's homeless folks, these folks need love just like everyone else.My wife and I are part of a church called the real church and we go out there every Sunday at 9 am and bring the word of God and some worship music to them,we have been doing this every sunday for over a year,we have gotten to know alot of them with there testimonys and just talking with them, they all are nice and caring, sure there are some bad apples in the bunch, but for the most part they are awesome people, they are just going through trials,,since we have been bringing God's word, and loving on them we have noticed alot of them have turned there life around and transitioned themselves to better things and have gotten off the streets.so I challenge anyone who talk about all the unfortunate folks in the park to come out and show them some love,,on Sunday at 9 am,i come home every Sunday with a smile knowing that I have help possibly change someone's life using God's word and his love he gave to us to share, thanks for reading and have a blessed day.
They need to open up more parking spaces and bathrooms but other than that I thought it was very beautiful
I went to walk my dog its a lot nicer since homeless are not there anymore.I feel bad for them they need to open more shelters for them guys fed them while I was there I thought that was super sweet
The great park only issue is just that you have a lot of people hanging around on a late night, but doing a day time, great workout place, nice area to go for a walk.
Free music and movies through the summer is very nice. The park could use some maintenance, and there are homeless people who frequent it, but overall, it's nice.
Pretty busy, restrooms still closed. Nice and clean park equipment, but some areas of the park had lots of debris and litter.
This was my first time at this park. The park itself was nice, but there was a lot trash in the park. And I was surprised by the number of homeless people that was there also.
It has potential for improvement and improvement is coming. Gorgeous place with a playground, waterfalls, and ponds. Plenty on jite flying space, Frisbee space, and space for pets.
awesome playground for kids? yes. i found very few homeless folks but not as bad as what other reviews had mentioned
Homeless people EVERYWHERE, but they didn't bother anyone so it was cool. The park is nice and relaxing and peaceful
I love this Park. Columbia has done excellent in the ongoing renovations. Please, take time and consideration in visiting or revisiting. It's magic in the making. 5 🌟. Wondering what's next in our Midlands!! …
Soooo many homeless people! I wish I had something I could do for them or warm meals to hand out....care bags ....something! Other than that it's a nice place for family
Nice place to take ur kid's n ur pet's. There's a place for ur children to play n just spend time with ur family n loved one's. Nobody bothers u it has places for u to walk or if u want to go for a jog its a nice place to go. They even have some events go on also👍👍 …
Had a nice time with the kids on the playground equipment. The waterfall is beautiful and people were out with blankets enjoying the day. Will return.
After one year in being in Columbia, I find Finlay Park one of the best Parks I've frequented. Sidewalks designed for walking, jogging or just for an easy stroll....excellent; benches for rest or simple relaxation....superb; scenic view from the waterfall, is relaxing to the eyes, with a romantic setting. Concerts and festivities are always safe to me, and the variety of people seen and communicated with is always a learned experience. People are people, as I have never had an unpleasant encounter nor bothered experience from the indigent, who also frequent the Park. Their "Rights" as human beings are unquestioned. Quite orderly as everyone has their place.
I'm glad that the City Officials of Columbia understands and respect their rights also, which makes it a humane place to be. We are ONE Human Family...regardless.
Finally, the best part I've enjoyed of Finlay Park was to lay my blanket under a big shaded tree, set mey refreshments, and read a good book or enjoy my favorite music music through headphones......for hours! (Sometimes falling asleep gets me. LOL)... Total "Peace"!
I hear that this Spring and Summer events are going to be even more memorable. I just can't wait ! Thank you City of Columbia, for you've replaced my Northern home with such a great attraction.
Gerald AW... New /Current Resident
Finlay Park is a great place where you can take people or yourself to play around relax play on playgrounds like the one that was not down so they can build another one on the other side where you can just watch the fishes not around in the water and swim and have a great time
Clean and relatively quiet for being in the middle of the city. Parking is not free, to prevent loitering. I was not bothered when I payed to park to eat my breakfast.
Homeless people everywhere! A few of them tried talking to me and made me feel very uncomfortable. Looks like it would be a great family place if it were cleaned up. I won't be back
Pretty decent day and our church member Nancy wanted 4 her 8th BornDay 2 go to the park and pass out sandwiches & bottled waters!!! God's Grace Is Sooooooooooooooo Amazing!!!🙏🏾😇🙏🏾 …
Awesome park. The homeless have no where else to go but all in all they don't bother you. Unless you smoke... Lol
Went there during the day, and there are multiple homeless people there watching your every move. Did not feel very safe to bring children.
Lovely park! We saw Macbeth by SC Shakespeare Co tonight..it was great. Wish Columbia could fix the park's fountain.
Fun and engaging playground designed for 5-12 year olds. Our 1 and 3 year olds still had plenty of fun: climbing, making music, and down the slide!
Nice park. I go for the water fountain. Be warned there are homeless people in this park. There not there all the time but when they are there, there are a lot of them.
So many hobos walking around and asleep on the park. Seen a Caucasian male starring at my 3yrs daughter until k confronted him on the spot. "Be safe."
No park benches, but at least the equipment is clean, and bathrooms available nearby.
Hung up a hammock and chilled for 3-4 hours just listening to music. Good bit of trash lying around
Finlay Park was great, my daughter and her fiancé got married and I was very excited and EMOTIONAL for them both.
It's a place well it's a park that my mama grew up visiting
It is very beautiful and always clean🌷❤🌷. …
The park has several steps/ staircases throughout the park. Some stadium style while other go straight up. But way too many homeless people.
Beautiful park with nice views, walking and sitting areas. Unfortunately a little sketchy and wouldn't say safe to be there alone.
Finlay,s park is a nice enough park
Let me also say that the people that are laying there are not home less ,they are for the most part displaced from 2015 flood. We Have a mission 2015 awearness to 🏠 tax paying homeower instead of wedging them from their homes.
Lots of open space to walk your dog or just have a picnic. Lots of repair work is needed throughout the the park, but nothing immediately hazardous that I have noticed.
Quiet park with a nice new playground area
I was there during daylight. It is a beautiful park. It is my understanding that homeless people reside there.
Did a wedding ceremony for a couple
Its beautifully maintained, but I wish the homeless had a place to reside instead of sleeping there.
Beautiful event! Giving back and serving the homeless. It felt good. I am so proud of my daughter and the DECA TEAM
Great public space. If you're complaining about the homeless then you should do something about it. They are people. They are not hurting anyone.
This park could use a little love, but it's still a great place to walk around. Lots to see
Beautiful space. Nice park for the kids as well. Not much to do other than walk around and park for kids. Nice place
Police presence homeless presence but the park is okay and everyone keeps to themselves
It is nice to go relax and enjoy. If you want to take your date somewhere you can talk and just enjoy nature then this is the place to go.
It's very pretty and peaceful. I'd love to see it in the spring.
I love Trader Joe's. Courteous, efficient, great products. Best of all, they stand behind their products.
Never met an associate who was.polite, pleasant, and knowledgeable.
I would only go in large groups to this park. It's beautiful but the surrounding area is not so much.
Very beautiful park. A few homeless people but it was not an issue at all.
Park has a lake and fountain . large grassy area and a nice playground for kids
Went yesterday for the diabetes walk. the water was awful, green and yucky. It's a beautiful park and the weather was great otherwise.
It was sad to see the homeless people. We took peanut butter sandwiches and talked to some of them. They were greatful for a simple peanut butter sandwich.
It's a beautiful space and the playground has been updated as much of the playgrounds in the city of Columbia have. Still, it seems like something is missing.
The park is spacious and clean with little waterfall and the pond. Plenty of things for kids playground
Park is beautiful but they need to clean up the lil piles of debris around in certain areas
Nice landscaped park in the middle of the city but the main fountain was not working or turned on that visit.
Nowhere near its once glory... Its almost sad to see. Other than the new children's area this park is a bust now.
Is has always been a pretty nice park but a real big change from how it was 10 years ago
Nice, peaceful, clean relaxed atmosphere, depending on the day and location at the park
A Lovely Family Place!!! Children's play area I recommend swing sets for toddlers!! Other than that...I strongly recommend!!
Pretty park , but downtown so go with a group just to use a buddy system , no known problems at this time.
It's nice to visit however it needs to be updated. There are a lot of homeless who gather here.
Ok park, there is not much to do there but walk around and have a little picnic maybe. The waterfall there is nice.
Filthy and full of homeless individuals,! Did not feel safe walking the grounds
Lovely place. The sad part is to see so many homeless people gathered together.
Major highlight of the metro. Beautiful playground added for the tikes. Address to a lot of the area homeless population
The Bible teaches us to help those in need. This is where you find those in need. May the holy spirit guide you here to be with these wonderful people.
Good atmosphere, but a few homeless people camped out.
Beautiful park. I can envision concerts and music festivals.
Very nice park in a convenient location. It would be nice if it stayed open longer, but the park is lovely nonetheless
Great children’s play area but the park has not been very well maintained and the pictures here on google are not entirely accurate.
It's beautiful with the remodeling. I enjoyed the stroll hubby, pups, & I had.
Really a beautiful thought out park just not cool when people want to do their drugs but that is minimal for a city park
Several runs end here. Always a nice venue for running events. The fountain of probably the most photographed location in Cola!
This used to be a very nice park. Hopefully it will regain its beauty after the renovation is completed.
Got married here 3 almost 4 years ago, homeless people have taken over, which is sad because its a mile, maybe from governor's mansion, and used to be breath-taking.
Nice walking/bike riding sidewalk. Plenty of shady areas to sit. Pretty clean too.
instead of everybody talking about the homeless people laying around and a homeless people begging for money why not help the homeless people they wouldn't lay around they wouldn't beg for money get more places where homeless people can live at stop talking about a person being homeless cuz she only a paycheck from being homeless yourself thank God for somebody that is homeless and you're not them
Nice park but it's a NoFly Zone for drones!
Nice public park. Somewhat romantic walk around the pool and up the hill.
They're still working on the park but it's so pretty for a nice walk!
It was a history lesson and a great place to bring your family and friends Columbia is a beautiful city and the people are nice.
If you don't like seeing homeless folks, fight for affordable housing.
Beautiful waterfall beautiful Park God created beautiful parks for everybody to explore amen
Nice park for the kids just too many homeless people around
Always love this park even though things have changed so much
Loved the fact that they have an outdoor concert area out in the open in the middle of the lake.
Beautiful park- like everyone else said, homeless although very nice, were everywhere
Great place to walk and enjoy the sun. Awesome play area for kids
Very nice park, bit the city appears to be neglecting its maintenance.
Wish they still had swings but my kids enjoyed the updated playground.
I've been going to this park since I was a small child and I remember when the city built it but the city doesn't really Patrol it they've left it to be like a homeless squatter camp when I visited recently not even anyone except homeless or workers were there giant playgrounds not getting used an Amphitheater with a lake stage it's just a really sad symbol for how mismanaged and poorly run the city of Columbia is
Volunteered at the Bernie Sanders rally; Nina Turner, Killer Mike, Danny Glover, and the man himself, Senator Bernie Sanders soeaking to the last SC rally before Primary Day!
Nice family park there is/was construction going on there haven't been there in a awhile
Was kind of boring all the water falls were turned off. Bathroom was gross
Beautiful views, some parts have deferred maintenance.
Love the wide outdoor , outside experience being able to still play with my grandchildren as well as my boys who are "Men" now ! Thank YOU !!!!
Nice park but a decent amount of homeless people
Good park to go to during the day time and take pictures for the summer.
Nice & quiet. You can overlook the city from the park. Great view.

It's a great park. Lots of outreach ministry and event's
Stage area closed but very clean overall.
Disappointing in that several of the attractions were no longer functioning due to the flooding, such as the waterfall.
There's no seating near playground. Not everyone can stand for long periods of time
Great place to go for a walk and excercise it just needs to be cleaned up a bit a lot of beer cans and trash all over the place but a good place to stretch your legs
Great place to walk, skate, and dance. Family friendly and beautiful.
Very nice park
Great place to visit and get a workout at. Could also be a great place to give back to the misfortunate!
It's beautiful, went to pass out stuff to the homeless

Attended a bAck to school event there. Very nice area to bring the family out to.
Great bones. Needs some TLC and regular patrols, plus dedicated event staff.
