Reviews of Henry C. Palmisano Nature Park
Maddie Minogue
Great nature sanctuary in Bridgeport, with plenty of trails, wildlife viewing, and views of the skyline! Highly recommend for a nice walk if you are in the area. Parking nearby is free and easy to find.
Ashley W
Beautiful park with great views. Although it is more of a walking park it still has a park for the children across the street as well as basketball rims. It is also great if you are a runner or work out. It offers stairs, inclines, and declines.
Liz Sullivan
Hands-down the best park in the city. It’s perfect for an evening or early morning picnic as it overlooks the skyline. Gorgeous natural grasses and a cute little quarry pond complete it.
Pro Tip: as one of the only hills in the city, this is the best place to watch fireworks!
Rajan G
Great little gem right in the city. Easy street parking leads you to a park with tons of local plants and flowers and walkways that lead down into an abandoned quarry that is a fishing spot. On the other side of the park, you get fantastic views of the city skyline. Well recommended!
Supriya Pandey
This park is a must visit. It takes you for a short detour from the busy life with a great view. There is a small hill top, a trail experience, a lake and a small stone statue… it’s an amazing place for a picnic, fishing, walking, yoga! No swimming is allowed in the lake I guess. This park is not like your regular park. An amazing place to relax!
Eli Kluiszo
Best park in Chicago, always worth a trip. Cool ice formations in the winter and great for birdwatching in warmer weather.
A HacK
A unique Chicago jewel.
Unlike any other city park. The envy of the manicured suburban arboretums.
The wild flowers and old quarry setting are incomparable.
Walk,exercise,daydream,picnic.What’s not to enjoy.
Henry Palmisano thank you for this fantastic gift to the neighborhood and city.
I’m absolutely in love with the setting and the bonus skyline views. That’s in addition to a impressive Church vista off in the distance.
Shona Hillman
I just Googled "Nature Preserve" while South of downtown on Hwy 94. This place was a nice surprise, with ice-free trails (some made of metal slats), a hill to hike up, city views, cliffs over water, ducks, geese, picnic tables, climbing rocks for kids, and authentic Chinese restaurants and businesses across the street! Wood ears (mushrooms) with goji berries & ginger only $4.75 at Taipei Cafe.
John Otto K
Beautiful park! With excitement layered views of wildflowers, city and a small lake pond with nature all around dragonflies birds ducks and walkways that take you out and over the water beautiful rock seating area and overviews.

This is one of my favorite parks i like to go. There's like a mountain were you can relax and has a really beautiful view towards the towers. I really reccommend there its a really nice place to hang around with and relax. It has a little lake and it has trails where you could walk in.
Sarah Wright
Great park offering catch and release fishing, a North Face Rock Climbing installation and walking paths with wheelchair and stroller accessibility. Playground, basketball court and more just across the street.
A good place to stop by for a socially distanced picnic with a nice view of the city skyline!
Belle Perez
I love, love this local park! It’s not too crowded to jog in. Their paths, stairs and bridge make this park unique and a joy to visit. Nog to mention the view of our beautiful city!! I also like their tennis courts. They have 4 (or 5), and although it’s seldom they they are unoccupied, 3/5 times were able to catch a game after 5 pm.
CZ
I love it. It's so nice to go walking here in the early morning or late evening. The breeze always seems to hit the park just right and even though there's always people, it some how always feels calm and serene.
Todd Nadenichek
Great place to explore in the snow! Ducks were hanging out by the bubbler in the pond. Seemed like a popular sledding hill, as well.
Suleyman Y Goksu
Perfect place to visit with your child. Easy free street parking. Quiet, clean, peaceful..
Bee1Luv
This is one of my favorite parks in Chicago. Go before lunch to really feel the natural beauty with less people. In early fall the wild flowers are looking so amazing! Also a great place to walk, run and meditate 💚 …
J
Lot of grass area for picnic, cool water reservoir to take in and fish at. A walking only nature area, not meant for bikes. Good views of the skyline as well
Joshua Koepke
Great place to relax and get a bit of nature in the city. The slow walk up the hill (or the informal shortcut on the east side) leads to impressive views on the city skyline. The park also features a great reservoir stocked with fish on the west side. Good way to spend 20-40 minutes and it's free.
Elizabeth De La Paz
One of my favorite parks to jog or bike to. My pups love taking long walks there once in a while.
Andrew Foley
Fun park, not too many people, everyone doing a good job of social distancing. Great view of the city.
Ember Urbach
A really neat park to see the city. The quarry basin is a bit messy but cool.
Steph Reyes
It was so nice and comforting! Very clean! I loved the water fall and there was a turtle family that was the highlight of our adventure
Andrea Maldonado
Went for a walk with my family, beautiful nature oasis in the middle of a busy city. The views were great. Activities for all ages: hiking, biking, rock climbing, exercise bars, sledding, fishing, playground across the street
Evelyn Quinonez
Love coming to this park and taking my pup on a walk. Surprised as to how clean the park is given the fact that there are barely any garbage bins around.
Consuelo Brooks
What a gem. This is a lovely serene spot in the city. Fishing, running, waking, and views of the skyline. There are spots in the small park that make you forget you're in the city. Beautiful.
Lisa K
Beautiful gem in Bridgeport. Good little slice of nature within the city. The top of the hill offers a great skyline view. We walk around there often and never feel unsafe. The fishing spot is nice to just sit by and hang out with the ducks. Never had an issue with parking either. The fact it is within walking distance is AWESOME.
nazik Jeb
I went there for good walk, you can see all Chicago down towns from the up a little mountain, you can find people fishing.
Riley Pruitt
beautiful view of the skyline and sunset
Fernando Luna
It's a beautiful park with a great view and pretty plants
Sara Swinehart
Such an amazing park with a cool view and quarry that’s been converted into a pond! Highly recommended for picnicking and exercising.
Maggie Rong
Great spot for a calm stroll along the trails. See a little bit of nature and the city skyline.
Sho Nuf
Nice place to get your steps in, not too far from Halsted Orange Line stop. Great view of the city.
Polo KSA
This park is so beautiful, but surprisingly not many people know about it. It's not like any other park in this city, so it's definitely worth the trip.
Juliza Gramajo
Lovely place. For nature encounter. Perfect place. Love it
Sonia-Rose Lyle
The park has a nice walking path for exercise or casual walk.
Cari Vazquez
clean and it has parking. It has a nice rock garden and there's a playground for children.
Austin Johnson
Beautiful spot to watch a sunrise or sunset on the skyline. Very scenic and cool pathways, makes you feel that you arent in the city and provides a nice escape.
Gladys Tolentino
Very beautiful place to take a nature walk
Viper
Love this park unique and great view
Samantha Martinez
Beautiful scenery and great place to walk and run or have a nice picnic!
Jean Porras (JOHN 7J)
Nice view of downtown, with big Plain field to sit down on and enjoy the breeze.
B B
Love this park! Some of the best views and there’s a great historic audio tour you can find on the parks website
Tee Goodwin
I love this park. Its gorgeous. Romantic for adults and very kid friendly. They need a few more garbage cans or empty them more often. The sign says "no dogs" but there are ALWAYS plenty of dogs there. Amazing place to visit. Must see.
Floyd with Nara
Very nice park . Hilltop views of downtown . Fishing available in old quarry. Feed the ducks. Nice trails
Santiago Torres
Underated park, great view of the skyline. Take my kids here frequently.
Larry Leopoldo
Is this the only hill in the city? Great views form at the top. The best place to go for a stroll for many miles around.
Brandon C
Great place for a jog or walk. Great view of the skyline and spot for a picnic if you wanted. There's also a little pond for fishing, but I haven't seen anyone catch anything worthwhile.
oldies 91
Great park for a great walk. It has a nice view , its clean, it had a lake that you could fish.
L T
A beautiful nature path between bridgeport and Chinatown.
Dash Gealbhan
Gorgeous park with great views! One of my favorite places in the city to take people is the top of the hill in this park, you get an amazing panoramic view of the city, and it's free! Great for photography, hanging out, seeing urban wildlife, checking out plants, and/or as a lesser traveled tourist spot if you have out of town guests!
Sandra Contrerarty
Extraordinary little diamond squarely in the city. The good life stopping drives you to a recreation center with huge loads of neighborhood plants and blossoms and walkways that lead down into a neglected quarry that is a fishing spot. On the opposite side of the recreation center, you get phenomenal perspectives on the city horizon. Very much suggested!
Miguel Velazquez
Wow what a park. Not too far from downtown. This is a hidden gem. You can hike, walk, bike, fish, ( catch and release only), and it's a gorgeous park. There's also a nature preserve for plant and wildlife for the wilderness enthusiast.
AB Guzman
Awesome place to walk and fish. Hey! If you're a poacher you're not welcome here, this is a catch and release quarry.
The Public Librarian
This is a good place if you just want to walk. It also has a workout station with 3 or 4 exercises. The stone monument is great for pictures. There is a small lake. The miniprairie/nature preserve decor gives a great "nature inside the city" feeling to it. The small hill/plateau really works the legs, plus it gives a great 360 degree view of the neighborhood and downtown. All around a nice quiet place to get a low exertion workout.👍
Andres Pinto
Fun park, in the middle of a neighborhood if you just want to escape for a bit. It's main feature is a hill that lifts you just above the neighborhood and you feel like you can see everything. You will often find people having picnics, flying kits, or just rolling down the hill. The park also features a quarry with an accessible ramp that you can descend to the bottom, lots of great lookout points, and the fishing in the quarry must be pretty good cuz insee people there every time I go. There is also an area with sculptures and another area with exercise machines. Honestly, it's a great place to take a date or just to spend your lunch eating outdoors or to take a nap on the top of a hill.
Heidi Ferenzi
I enjoy taking my daily walk or jog here. To up the ante on my walks, I have the choice of walking up and down the hill or using the pavement inclines. On nice, weather-permitting, sunny days I can just sit on top of the hill and look over Halsted Street or watch the geese and ducks take a dip in the pond.
Juan Tamayo
Beautiful view of the skyline, a duck pond, nice trail that's family friend and room for children to run around. It's the closest you'll get to hiking with elevation that you'll get in the middle of the city. Beautiful at sunrise and sunset.
Kevin Villagomez
Gorgeous unique view! Amazing design and Architecture of the steel walk ways along the edge of the quarry makes for a great experience! Dog friendly and great place for exercise
Roger Deschner
A former quarry, you descend down to an amazingly quiet shelter from city noise. That's despite being one block south of busy I-55. Come for fishing, or just come and sit in the remarkable quiet.
NATASHA MCCLAIN
Yes! Yes! Yes!
Next door to McGuane Park, nestled into the fabric of the neighborhood. This is a getaway, when you have 20 minutes or 2 hours. A mini arboretum, a faux botanical garden, a semi nature escape. This place offers excitement for each of your senses. There's always people around, but it's never crowded.
You can fly a kite, take a hike, fish, walk, or gaze. Definitely a place to exhale.
Kristina Pontarelli
Great running path, wildflowers, and view of the skyline.
Stephie Ri Ri Bajic
My fiance & I bring our son and niece here to fish. They always have a blast. Most of the fish they catch are blue gill but occasionally they catch a catfish or large-mouth bass. This Park also has trails to walk, a huge hill to climb up and roll down or go sledding down in the winter. There is a sanctuary for birds and bugs...butterflies especially. Altogether we always have a fabulous time here & I recommend anyone to bring their families or to go by themselves. It will be fun either way.
Carlos Oliva
A long walk in a park. With a beautiful light seen of the loop. With huge wonderful sculpture of stones. A balcony of blue fish below your feet. It's so romantic, and playful. Lot of running or walking. It's a semi forrest in a big city. Please no bikes or dogs allowed. So, have fun.
Kelsey Sanabria
This is such an amazing city park. Probably one of the best in the city, if not the best. Great place to walk, watch the sunset, or sunrise, fish, and enjoy nature in this concrete jungle, we call home. Beautiful views, clean, unique, and well maintained.
Jorge Gallegos
Beautiful 😍 place to walk around …
Ea THUG HIPPIE
One of my favorite parks tucked away in the hood. It has so many layers and moods. I make a whole day of it. Hang out after my massage,go to the thrift store near by and fav local coffee shop.
scott smith
Great for a quick walk or to relax and see the city lights & views.
Ivan Lau
Lots of construction around here as of 06/10/20. Nice place to take a walk and run. There's a playground, pull up bars, a pond, a hill for kites, nice slope for snow or mud sledding, and much more for the family or anyone really.
Renita Jackson
I really enjoyed walking there me and my son walked for 2 hours he just got out the hospital the day before and needed a GOOD walk in nature with lots of Vitamin-D from the sun it was definitely a good day to take a walk for us💜 …
Paxton Anthony Murphy
A hidden gem. If you don't know it's there you won't see it!
Brianna Whitfield
A lovely park. Very clean and great views.
Smaran Mandala
Large open space with two hills and a quarry that is now a fishing hole. A good family gathering / picnic place. Nice views of the Chicago skyline too. Well maintained and very clean park.
Lissette Cahue
I enjoyed coming here the walk down to the water is great, it's like you're in a diffrent world by the time you get down there. We enjoy the fishing, it's pretty well stocked.... the walk up to the top of the hill is a little hard with the really uneven pavers lots of space to run around in. Beautiful native wild flowers fill the hillside. They have tons a great food options close by too
Riley Lynch
I’m here at least five times a week. A gorgeous park, very calm and peaceful, right there on Halsted Street. It’s great for flying kites, practicing tai chi, sunning, or just hanging out. It’s VERY popular with the locals. Great view of downtown for the camera buff.
He Guan
Lol there is so many duck to eat 😋😋😋 …
Mary Beth Lake (MBL)
Walkable, family friendly park, that extends down to the water and up to a hilltop view of skyline. Great space to meet friends, catch a breeze, watch the stars or get a family photo. Lots of street parking.
Randall Jamrok
This is a great park to get nice views of the Chicago skyline and see native prairie plants. I have even seen a snowy owl in the winter time. A nice place to relax, take a walk or a jog, or fly a kite! This space is a true asset to the community.
Frank Lin
This is the perfect park to fly a kite. Plenty of open space to get started, but the biggest benefit, is the giant hill like nature of the park. Once you get up on top of the hill, the wind blows much stronger which helps keep the kite aloft for longer.
Paul Chen
Nice little park set amidst a quarry
Kristin
Large space, amazing views of city, great for kites any day. Sledding in winter. Just put in gorgeous stone stairs next to the path straight up the main hill. Very stroller/wheelchair accessible. Fishing in pond at the end of path.
Luna Love
It's a beautiful park with a nice view of the skyline.
They have yoga in the park on Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30 pm sponsored by Bridgeport Yoga Studio 😊 …
Rocky Talwar
Great park that I take my kids to so they can walk and fish. The hill is great in the warmer months for flying kites and sledding when it's winter. My only 2 complaints are that even though there are signs posted for no dogs allowed at both entrances, people bring their dogs in. I don't have too much of an issue, but when they let them off leash and let them into the pond, it scares the fish away and ruins the experience for my kids. The other issue is that the fishing pond is catch and release but there are certain groups of people that disregard the posted signs stating that. When my 6 and 4 year old remind people that they need to put the fish back, the people tell my kids to mind their own business.
Padraic Kirby
Shot Archery competition on the elevated field on the west side. Wonderful view of the downtown, easy parking. Looking forward to the next shoot here.
Helen Rivera
While its nice for small fish fishing, its getting very dirty. People bring in bread and cereal for the ducks and dont realize its not good for them. There is no one supervising.
Fabz dlt
Nice park, but I hate the trash. There were bottles of beer everywhere which turns it off a bit, but overall the view is amazing. It's a great place to jog or just walk with the family.
William Alvizo
This is the best runner's park. Hills, track like field, stairs, a full lap through equals one mile. This park is the reason I can finish in the top 10% in all my races. Running through the park will give you some strength training and will really push you. Apart from that you can go fishing here and have a nice walk through it. Nice flowers and friendly people. Very popular with some locals who like to practice Tai Chi every morning.
Jane Roth
Went today with a group of four senior citizens and found the wildflowers and prairie grasses incredibly beautiful and restful in the middle of the city. View on this clear day was exceptional in all directions. We inquired about picnic tables and were told that gang gatherings at the picnic tables caused the Park District to remove them. There are restrooms and benches in the adjoining McGuane Park.
Jacky Zhao
Beautiful park in a great location, nothing quite like it around this area. Nice and clean place for a easy walk. The scenery is nice and the park is still relatively new
Cary Shepherd
Beautiful park in the heart of Chicago. Stop by the prairie grass to see the City as it once was and climb to the top of the hill to see the whole city as it is today.
Rose Mose
Where do I start- the giant hill seemingly out of no where, covered in gorgeous prairie grass and flowers? Or the Buddha head circle on the top with a fantastic view of the city? Or the quarry and pond where there's always a few people fishing? And the sewer/ water system is a whole other level of greatness. What a cool park- go there immediately if you've never been. Go! Now! :)
Michelle Bacerott
Very gorgeous and relaxing place.
Morgan's Show New Show
Our favorite city picnic place. Can't wait for Air & Water Show from here.
Jalen Starks
Absolutely beautiful
Thony
The view of downtown is very visible and good for photos
margarita Gonzalez
It was really nice while taking care of really clean beautiful scenery
K. Keating
No water fountain or parking lot. Has a port-a-potty. Is usually clean. Nice place to fish and watch the water in the warm months. Great exercise with quite steep hill paths and stairways. Easily accessible by public transportation, close to Archer busses and the El stop at Archer and Halstead, Halsted busses stop right by one of 3 entrances to the park. NOT wheelchair or mobility challenged friendly.
Pierre Gratia
Beautiful park, one of the few whose green areas aren't meticulously planned, so it has a bit of more natural touch. However, the work-out bars are somewhat dangerous with a protruding metallic area that appears to be a design fail.
Gail Selleg
Nice place to walk, observe birds in marshy are. Embraces art displays. A lot of telescopes used to look at stars brought by individuals annd groups for night time viewing. Wheelchair accessible. No bathrooms, but there are bathrooms just across the southern border at McGuane Park
Ben S.
A beautiful gem in the sprawl of Chicago. The hills offer lovely walks on reclaimed prairie, as well as a spectacular view of the skyline and surrounding Bridgeport. The metal path onto the pond are architecturally excellent, and in winter the feel is of walking on water.
Amy Wu
This is a nice little park with trails, a small lagoon for fishing, a gravel running path, and a thing to do weight resistance and pull ups on( don't know the name of this thing). Knocking off one star because the park doesn't allow dogs but it's not enforced so there's dog poop.
Derrel Hooten (Beeperderrel)
What's great for night-time walking not a lot of insects flying very clean beautiful sight of the city skyscrapers view from the top of the hill
Sara Dickey
Such a lovely park with a small pond! Pretty hilly, so be ready for some inclines. The top of the hill offers an amazing view of the city from the South!
Monica Geick
This is my favorite park in Chicago! It's very beautiful and clean. Good for working out or hanging out. I always see a lot of people fishing in the quarry and tons of people playing pokemon go.
Abhijith Gopakumar
Nice short trails, small hills, and a lake with a view. It's a good park to hangout within the Chicago city limits.
Joseph Vorrier
Nice, peaceful park with a great view of the city skyline!
Free Will
The place is lovely. It looks like an Asian community. An Asian lady didn't want to walk on the same sidewalk pass me...she walked in the street and back onto the sidewalk.... Other than that...the place is beautiful.
Jamal Abd Rabbih
Best damn park in the city
linda coronado
For some, it has a nickname "La Loma".

Great views. Great paths. Playground, basketball and tennis courts, plus a field house with restrooms across the street at McGuane Park field house. Good spot for entire family.

John Shostack
A neighborhood gem. Unparalleled skyline views. This old limestone quarry, has fishing, walking trails, and a stream. Bus stops at both ends. 1 block to the orange line.
Jerry Meo
One of my favorite public parks in Chicago! It's small but always beautiful
Scott Orr
Little nature oasis in the city. Feels completely out of place in the middle of Chinatown in a good way. Great fishing spot for kids too. Tons of blue gills all over the place.
Alex Feldman
Great park with amazing views, especially good if you want to escape the city a little bit and walk in a green space. No dogs.

Beautiful view. Plenty of space for people to use social distancing. Kids loved rolling down the hills.

This park is great, but I would give 4 or 5 stars if they allowed dogs. Really sad you can't go for a walk or run because you have to leave your dog at home.

It's beautiful here. Check it out for yourself, you can kind of forget you're in a big city even if for a moment.

Great little park with a few trails and a stocked fishing pond. Get yourself to the pond via a metal ramp and its unlike any other place I've seen in Chicago. Cool place
