Reviews of Boston Common
Krishna Paul
Amazing park, rich with culture and history! The lawn is kept nice and clean. Statues are beautiful and great spots to get some pictures! Overall environment is relaxed and fun. Make some time to stop by if you can!
Colleen Paxton
Boston Common should not be confused with Boston Public Gardens, which is right next to it. Boston Common is more likely to have homeless hanging around that the gardens and it also has no flower displays. It is more like a city green space than the public gardens beside it.
That being said, you can easily walk around the Commons in 30 minutes, and the Commons/Public garden in an hour. It is centrally located which can make the green space a nice break from the surrounding city. Beneath Boston Common is a parking garage. The red line T also drops you off below the park.
The visitors center is nice and clean with a public restroom and souvenirs you can buy. There is also a playground for kids.
There is also to do surrounding the park so it is a good jumping off point if you want to explore the Freedom trail, walk along Boylston street etc.
The commons also has events, plays are put on here, protests are held, movie nights etc. As mentioned it is utilized best as a gathering/even space with the Gardens next door being the nice, quiet, pretty attraction.

In a word, beautiful! From American Revolution tours and delicious food to gorgeous scenery and skaters with rad tricks. This classy and clean space is beautiful for solo or family visits; amazing Tadpole playground, scenic walking areas, it has a lot for everyone.

The Boston Common and the Public garden is a very beautiful public park in downtown Boston, Massachusetts. It is the oldest city park in the United States. Any time of year is a good time to visit the Garden and walk along the esplanade , but summer and fall are really spectacular to enjoy the color and splendor of the plantings and foliage. Really a lovely place
Olivia Greene (Ollie)
I love the commons. It’s so beautiful throughout every season, but especially spring and fall. Always a joy to visit when the tulips are blooming. It’s a nice place to take my dog to walk, and to enjoy nature in the city. It generally is very peaceful even when it’s busy.
Shaan H. Khan
Beautiful space right in the center of Boston. Housed between university buildings, government offices and historical landmarks, this park, especially for someone coming from abroad, provides a welcome space of calm and joy. Still have to explore it further but these are my first impressions ✨
Derek Rodenbeck
So much to discover here. Easily accessible, and you can even buy parking online so you can use a QR code to scan on and out of the underground garage.
The park is rich with monuments, open space, lakes, bridges, vendors, and more. You are tucked in the heart of the city and food and coffee is a quick walk away.
Great place to run, relax, or bring the family. Stop by!
Sneha W. Singh
It’s a beautiful park. More like dog park. Green and very refreshing Place in the middle of the city. Walking distance to most places.
Since it attracts so many tourists, it gets over crowded that people start bumping into each other.
Doreen M
Had a good time. Took some pictures. Sat on bench and just relaxed and the weather was great that day. Visited the cemetery where Paul Revere lays. The monument square, beautiful tress
Thais Williams
Awesome park to walk around, hang or go on the little boats. Gets busy specially on holidays so hard to use as a place to bike or exercise on the paved areas. Fancy stores near by. Also lots of restaurants and starbucks. Pictures on memorial day weekend 2022.
Prajna Shenoy
Boston commons and public garden are right there across each other and can be explored in 2 hours. Beautiful views of downtown and incredible fall colors during the season. Crowded almost always. Easily accessible from subway (T) station. This place is a good spot for lunch or an evening stroll.
L.A. T
Lovely place for a family outing, picnic or outdoor day. Tons of beautiful trees, flowers and a pond with Swan 🦢 rides (The Public Garden). Parking is a bit expensive but that’s par for the course in the city. We went for Memorial Day and they had a lovely tribute. …
VB
The weather was beautiful. Walking the Boston African American Freedom Trail was both uplifting and devastating 💔 all at once. The city is beautiful. They talk about the Seattle Freeze....Boston definitely has one too. 🙂🥶
But so many attractive people, very diverse. …
spyros
Really nice, clean, green, open, large park near downtown Boston, beacon hill and back bay.
Suitable for walks, jogging , reading , relaxing and pick nicks. Ponds and walk paths available inside green/grass spaces. Smoothies/drinks/shakes and fast food street canteens and canteen trucks available.
Statues and halls:places for cultural events (concerts, theater performances, etc) available.
Subway station (park street - green line) in park available. Restaurants, bars and fast food places all around the park. Next to Newbury street.
Giving it 4 stars because at late hours (after evening) or around the subway station, creeps and public nuisance small crowds are present. They are unpleasant and they make tourists/passers by afraid. More police/ cleaning is needed at later hours and at the park area with these people.

Beautiful, beautiful park in the centre of Boston. A jewel in the middle of the city. Common grounds for citizens, with a great atmosphere and summer vibes also at the sunset. People come here for a walk, to spend time with friends, families or pets. Wonderful surroundings with the lights of the skyscrappers at night!
Rhonda Roshto
I absolutely love the Boston Common! Friendly people! I love how you can sit on the hill and have a picnic or read a book. I really enjoy feeding the birds and squirrels there. They will come up and eat from your hand.
daniel deutsch
The park is very nice and from what I could see it was great for kids. Coming out of it you'll see the state house however the establishment was closed on the day I went which was kind of a bummer because it looked really interesting. Unfortunately, the face of the building was obscured by scaffolding but we could at least see the golden dome. The mural of the African American troops and the revolutionary war facing the building was very striking and quite moving. The artist was able to capture the poignant expressions on the faces of the soldiers which were a mix of resolve, resignation, courage, and strength.
APOORVA KUKDE
The very first park 💐 🌷 of the United States !
Spring has beautiful tulips of all colors
Must visit for some nice outing and green patches and small ponds and lovely pictures…..
There are swan boats and it’s fun to ride ☺️☺️
Annie
A nice park area with lots of wide open spaces.
You can start the freedom trail from here and they also run tours from this location. The freedom tail tour goes every half hour I think and costs $15. Totally worth it especially if you aren't super familiar with the history of the revolutionary war.
Riana Rawson
Great start of the Freedom Trail. Look for the Visitors Centre and pick up the pamphlet showing the historic places to visit in Boston. There is so much history here, the kids will love walking the red-brick trail through history. Starting with a photo at the beautiful fountain then walk up towards the State House and enjoy the commemorative plaque against the wall and the view of the park from there.
Chris Clapp
Dec 2022. It had great holiday lights all around the commons. Lots of families. Sadly, no hot cocoa, tea, coffee vendors near the Frog Pond skating. The T access is very easy. Park rangers were very visible.
Mamie Nicholson
Beautiful! It was very Christmassy with the Harvard band playing songs. I felt like we got a free concert! The Christmas tree was great. Quincy market was great. Nice location right at Boston commons and decked out for the holidays. The eateries were well priced and had tasters. It was nice being able to sample foods before choosing a meal.
Doctor Bryan Stoops
I found Boston Common to be a great place to start from when exploring different parts of Boston, walking down into Back Bay, and so on. If you're staying in Downtown Boston, to walk the Freedom Trail, you will begin in Boston Common, and follow the Trail from there. I found Boston Common to be quite beautiful, and have a lot offer visitors.
Note: I'm including a bunch of photos from the Freedom Trail, since you will begin your tour in Boston Common. Enjoy!
David Reiner
After reading Robert McCloskey's classic "Make Way for Ducklings" we had to visit and see Boston Commons for ourselves. What a lovely urban park! Swan boats were a blast. Frog pond was a hidden gem. Playground looked great, but we were ready to hit the road...
C “DangUnicorns”
Really beautiful place with lots of historical moments. We walked around both sides of the park and took in all of what was to offer. Was really neat to see the pond frozen over.
Tiff Lara
Stunning place to go. Highly recommend going to this beautiful park. Go walk, people watch, swan boat, and just relax. Very nice and stellar views.
Marsha Auguste (Surrealvoice)
Nice place to go for a walk and relax. Feels like a mini central park. Swan boats and ice skating are some features. There are benches to sure and a few picnic tables. There's a merry go round, sausage stands, and pretty scenery.
Leanne M
Beautiful big park with a nice long path to walk and even can go to the start of the freedom trail. The park has a ton of green space and so walking here is so enjoyable and relaxing
Guillermo Quinones
One of my favorite spots in Boston and Freedom trail. Great for family and kids. A lot of gardens and friendly ducks and squirrels for a photo opp.
Peter Hey (RV PLANET)
"Boston's Central park." Beautiful and full of history, like the whole city. Small ponds, frozen when we visited in the winter. In this park is where the Freedom Trail starts (or ends depending on which direction you choose to go), marked by a line of bricks (sometimes just painted) that follows historic sites on the city. Great walking tour that you can do by yourself or with a tour guide that you can find in the park, at the visitor's center.
Chris Wiesel
Beautiful park with lots of trees 🌳 for shade and a majestic water fountain in the middle. Only strolled through on our way to the Freedom Trail and was very nice.
Govinda Raut
Excellent park and boating available. You can enjoy with your kids. Other side of the park, specially for pets’ refreshments. Must visit while you are in Boston.
Samantha M
A beautiful park filled with stunning architecture, greenery and wildlife! Perfect place for a picnic or a historic walk just minutes from the downtown area.
Padhraig McKernan
Really impressed with Boston on the whole. Boston Common is well maintained and has character and loads of interesting people to see. We got some lunch, ate it in a sunny and relaxed environment and loved it. Lots of free seating areas in and out of the shade. If in Boston, take an hour to chill in this gorgeous park.
Sharon Doyle
A nice green space with lots of benches and picnic tables right in Boston. There is a little Lake that offers boat rides too. There are huge old trees there and lots of squirrels, birds and ducks.
Shobana S
Huge park with lots of trees, garden, walking trails, Geese, squirrels etc. Suitable for all. People can spend time with family, friends. The park is well maintained.
Silly Bunny
This park is a great place to walk by just yourself, with your friends or with your dogs. It is also a wonderfully relaxing place for a picnic.
S J
Really awesome place to stop and rest if your in the area. Across the street from Cheers. Bring some nuts for the squirrels! They’ll take them while sitting in your lap!
Aggie CH
If you drive yourself, you have to google Boston common garage first. Close and walkable to Charles river esplanades park. Good place to relax and walk. Too bad that two people playing loud Chinese erhu with speakers and even fake because I was even told the guy played out of tune. Nonetheless I gave him $1 not the second player after I realized it is not a good place to play loud. Kudos to the Bible verses here and solute to my wife and other health care workers.
Nathaniel “Natethegreat” Lamarre
The common looks nice in the summer time so don’t judge the pics still winter out here. Frog pond is empty no ice skating ring right now, no horse carousel usually next to frog pond. Couple Italian sausage spots in the park, fried dough. Lots of stores near bye McDonald’s Dunkin’ Donuts and Burger King Asian soup and Mexican spot can sit on grass and eat. Make sure you are a dog lover a lot of dogs in the common running after balls, tennis court packed with kids in summertime. Also if you play Pokémon this is the place to be lots of Pokémon and on community day it’s packed and lots of players to play with. The bad part reason for 3 stars the park has a lot of homeless vagrants homeless shelter 3 mins away so park gets a lot of vagrants hanging out feeding animals and alot of people on bench selling weed u will smell it and u can see a small bench with about 12 guys. Also do not go to the commons at night I would not recommend walking through park at night vagrants and people trying to sell you cd and the pot dealers come in full force at night. I am a big dude tattoos and some what a tough guy and I don’t feel that comfortable walking through the common at night.
Arwen Low
Great place to watch dogs and hang out with friends. Lots of bustling activities around here, especially during the weekend. And if you want to take the boat, there are tickets available for that.
Cynthia Kiss
Great location and a lot of things to do. Walk around the shops. Go to public gardens. Eat. Take the Train. Green line leaves you right outside.
Frank Daniels
We started our Freedom Trail hike at the visitor center where we picked up a map. The map was helpful with names but the trail is marked with a red brick line on the road and sidewalk to help navigate. The Commons itself is a lush park graet for meeting friends, walking your dog, or taking a look at all the little pop-up shops with jewlery and clothing. A great place to just relax and take in the enormity of the surrounding city. Be sure sure to check out all of the monuments and sculptures scattered throughout the grounds.
Travis Hinkle
First time in Boston (for a work trip) and had about an hour before I had to get back to the airport so I spent some time walking around the Common. Wish I had more time to spend there and explore the rest of the city.
Looking forward to going back soon!
Ryan Mattson
Large, active park. Occupied by local and visiting families, couples, and individuals. Home for Shakespeare in the park during my visit (free to all), and other activities. Easy access from sides and corners.
Aydin Inal
Visited in Autumn and the colours were so alive and striking. I wish I had more time to spend there and gaze the beautiful combination of different colours leaves on the ground
Courtney Regester
Such a lovely green space in the city. There was a cute pond for splashing, baby ducks in the pond, old trees, buskers and statues!
Wei Hsu
Boston Common is an ancient park located. I visited here for the start of the freedom trail. This park is pretty and well organized! The tour guides are nice too!
Constanza Hurtado Meneses
I loved it and it’s huge! You can go to walk or just sit and have breakfast. I got lucky because the first time I visited it was all snowed, but the next day the snow was gone and it looks like another place. Beautiful either way!
Jack Duke
Gorgeous. Big and open with cute squirrels running around and all the colors you can imagine on a nice fall day
J. A. G
Nice place to spend an afternoon on a stroll, people-watching, or playing with the kiddos. Literally within a stone throw of several places of historical significance. A nice place for a respite during a waking tour of downtown Boston.
Sonia
Established in 1634, Boston Common is America’s oldest public garden and probably my favorite spot in all of Boston. Steeped in history it is one of the stops on the freedom trail. So peaceful, serene and beautiful on a sunny day!! The Massachusetts State House (another stop on the Freedom Trail) is right next door.
Trevor Toms
A really lovely park with lake, colours and squirrels 🙂 Several street musicians make it interesting as you stroll through. Perfect. …
Marcus Corbin
Best part of our Boston trip! We aren't really history buffs and thought the freedom trail was just...eh. Once we got to this park, we had so much fun and saw amazing views. This is also random, but the squirrels there are super friendly. They will just eat food right out of your hand. Just a nice relaxing place in downtown Boston.
Tiffany Mendoza
On a beautiful sunny day it is great to sit and relax. Park is clean and easy to get to.
Queen Meranda
I was here in October 2017. This was my first day in Boston. I was staying at a local hostel and was close enough I could get around on foot to many places. This was the first stop of the day where I was able to get breakfast at the Dunkin Donuts across the street and eat quietly. This park is beautiful and has so many spots to just hang out and enjoy the moment right in the middle of huge buildings and hustle and bustle of the businesses. Would definitely coming by for walking and changing of the leaves when your a tourist.
Aung Din
Highly diversified place with youths.
Found our Burmese traditional restaurant and many good restaurants of the olden days.
Shanna Davis
The park is amazing! Lots of people and lots of room to sit and visit as well as a playground, carousel and that's all we had time for.
Tom Jones
Lovely natural environment in the center of Boston. Cool statues, colorful flowers and plantings. A pond has paddle boats. I liked it a lot! Plan to visit!
Kelly Cambridgeport
The Boston Common is America's first public park and there are two MBTA stations -- Park Street and Boylston. I step foot in this park several times a week. Will post more later.
Geoff Butler
We visited from the UK and Boston Common, together with the adjacent Public Garden is a must for any visitors, with beautiful Autumn/Fall colours. The start of the Freedom Trail is close by at the visitors center, along with convenient T stops and shops.
Andrea Blair
We had a pleasant walk through the park and also found the ice skating rink was open for winter activities.
Buki Omotosho
Lovely and lively park with sad creation history/rationale. Within the park lies part of the historical trail (represented by red bricks) that runs through the city.
Emily Lannon
A fabulous spot to enjoy when you are in town. Make sure to enjoy the ponds and the ducks!
Yulia Berry
Beautiful park with the best squirels and pigeons! They are so happy to see you that you want to come back again and again! The park is very well taken care of, has lots of benches and beautiful flowers. The architecture of the surrounding buildings is so beautiful and very New England-ish.
Pleasant, romantic, enjoyable - highly recommend!!
Mitch Green
Classic Boston park which takes you through the middle of the city. Charming area to walk around in the middle of a bustling city!!
Cheryl H
Beautiful lush green . Duck tour boats all around. Lots of young people. Great to see!!
Eliaris Diaz
Perfect day trip for families with little ones. There is a park, splash pad and rides within the park.
Don't forget to stop by the wishing well before leaving!
Alice Philbrick Potenza
I love my walks through the park. I do wish they brought back the free concerts, and holiday markets. It is an underused public park.
Jason Reeson
So cool to take in the history. What a beautiful park and beautiful views of the city.
Michael De
The most historic place in the country perhaps? Loved walking around and seeing the sights. Went on a foot tour around the area and learned a ton from a guy dressed like John Hancock lol. Will go back
Warren Hermenau
Very relaxing, shade, sun, flowers, puppies and Swan Boat rides. Something for everyone!
SHAIK on Board
Awesome place to spend evenings in Boston. Frog pond for kids and Duck pond and rides. Do check out this place.
Bridgette Cannon
One of the oldest municipal parks in the US, and part of the Freedom Trail. It's a nice place to hang out on the lawn for lunch or pay nearby to do the whole Freedom Trail tour with a costumed guide.
Vanessa Calderón
Is a really beautiful park, and all the history is amazing cause is the first public park In America
DJ H
Beautiful party in downtown Boston. There is a large underground parking lot right under this park. This is very convenient to begin the Freedom Trail tour.
Rebecca Kenefick
Such a pretty place to walk around, lots of food vendors during the day, and almost always someone playing an instrument
Theodore Melton
Nice park in the heart of Boston. Small wading pool with a snack bar and places to sit. Tours are available for various areas of the city which originate here.
Engi89
Good for family, but lackluster for traveling. Lots of yellow grass and not as well managed as places like NYC and Chicago
Stephen Weiler
We had a great time easy parking. My suggestions. If your going to do the freedom trail, take the green line to the northterminal and start there. This cuts your walking by half.
Marion NYC
Nice park in the middle of the city! A lot of foot traffic here! It’s a good place to stop in if you are visiting beacon hill or the neighborhood! If you are in Boston definitely worth stopping by.
YayIts K
Such a great park!!!
I came here in the winter & my Godness it was beautiful!!!
There was so much to do, super great location
It was easy to get to, parking can be a little tough but after all it is Boston
Lisa T
Great atmosphere, ample street parking, plenty of food and coffee options.
C E
Perfect place to spend some lazy time, exercise or take pictures. Boston is such a beautiful place and full of history!
Theresa Furey
I wish I had more time there. I would read every sign. It amazes me that according to one sign Benjamin Franklin played nearby as a child. Garage parking was easy and reasonable. Everyone was very friendly, holding doors and saying hello.
Inna M
A gorgeous park at the center of the city, you can fin a quiet spot just to breeze and be with yourself
Bobby Kinstle
This park is lots of fun. Great for the kids. It has a nice merry go round, lots of historic statues, and of course the famous bronze ducks. Go take your pictures on the bronze ducks. A local city official apologized for the 3 homeless people we saw here today. I laughed and said "I'm from California, so this is the least amount of homeless I've seen in years"
Mackenzie Sweeney
Gorgeous park that is easily accessible via the T! It is very large and spacious with numerous walking paths, some lakes, and places that are perfect for picture taking! Many flowers and trees are well-maintained within the park, and there are stands that sell food/drinks as well as musicians who provide entertainment. Definitely recommend!
Alicia Almassi
My favorite park to stroll around and enjoy a picnic in. The squirrels are the friendliest I’ve ever come across. Love this park
Scout Ridenour
Beautiful place with many things to do. Go enjoy some wholesome recreational fun at the Commons!
Ian Roberts

Tam “Enjoy808” Franco
Fun and nice place to visit and beautiful weather was a big plus!
Bully Yay
Amazing things to see! Being a film fan myself it's cool to see places from movies in Boston Common. I'd say my favorite was the bench from Good Will Hunting. "You're move Chief."
George Ware IV (ABostonArtist.com)
Nice Saturday afternoon 😊, not too busy, cool in the shade!
Looked like a group of period dress tour guides getting together for an early happy hour??? …
Julie Fiedler
Beautiful park. Lots of convenient paths. Some food vendors. Used the parking ramp underneath the commons - it was kinda spendy but worth it being so close to the commons.
Katrina Vince
Beautiful area! Love it! Can't wait to visit again
Michael Ihnken
What a beautiful park! I was so pleased to see such a beautiful place in a big city. I fully expected there to be homeless people everywhere and was pleasantly surprised there were none. Clean bathrooms, beautiful green grass, it was a very nice park and one I would highly recommend!
Mark Ladwig
In winter amazing outdoor skating. Rent skates if you don't own any, instructors available to buy lessons if needed too.
Mr. Gumby
A nice place for a walk and to see some statues and memorials. Kids can go on the carousel or swim in the Frog Pond in the summer and ice skate on the winter. There is a large 3-level parking garage under the Common at rates less expensive than the commercial garages in the area. The Green Line transit stop is at on corner of the site. The site is close to the downtown, Back Bay, Beacon Hill, and Chinatown neighborhoods., as well as the Public Gardens and the State House. There is a tourist info center with rest rooms.
Leynier Aragon
My wife and I are visiting from Florida and had such a great time here. Ex tour guide Annie G. Took us all around the frontier line and helped us experience a bit of the American history that Boston has to offer. I would recommend this area for anyone who loves to sight see and anyone who wants to learn more about the American culture.
Mencia Quinonez
Awsome parking lot and convenience, clean and relaxing atmosphere. Perfect for a 10k run

Boston Common is an absolutely beautiful and historic public park located in the heart of Boston, Massachusetts. The park is a popular destination for both tourists and locals alike, and it is a great place to spend some time outdoors.
One of the standout features of Boston Common is its beautiful landscape. The park is home to a number of trees, flowers, and green spaces that are perfect for picnics, relaxation, or just enjoying the outdoors. The park is also home to a number of walking and biking trails, which are great for exploring or getting some exercise.
In addition to its natural beauty, Boston Common is also home to a number of historical landmarks and sites. The park is home to the Massachusetts State House, which is a beautiful building that is home to the state legislature. The park is also home to the famous Frog Pond, which is a popular destination for ice skating in the winter months.
Overall, Boston Common is a beautiful and historic public park that is a must-see destination for anyone visiting Boston. Whether you are looking to relax, exercise, or learn about the city's history, Boston Common has something for everyone.
Riechel Fiel
I love this place. I love our walk and talks as we roam around the area.
I love seeing kids playing around in the park.
Also, I enjoyed seeing a lot of squirrels, so cute!
David Solano
Not a beautiful as Public Garden but still really nice
Sushil Deshpande
Public garden at its best. Well mentained with families enjoying
Tanya Ryan
What a lovely park in the middle of the city! Loved the escape from the hustle and bustle and just enjoyed the stroll through the lovely fall foliage.
Vicki McCollum
Wonderful historic location. Lots of walking!
Bill Meneilly
Great large green space in the centre of Boston, walked through it on my way to visit the Cheers bar.
Potjamarn Arpornratn (Yui)
We have a great evening walk from our hotel to Boston Common.
Ana Deleon
Interesting place, lots to do and very historical.
Gearoid Griffin
Do there are two parks, the Boston Common and the Boston Public Garden of which the latter is far more pretty and worth taking some pictures of if you are a tourist. Both parks are used a lot by locals to walk through, so keep that in mind 8f you are taking it slower. That said, if you want a break from all the noise of the city, either park is a great place to hang out and relax.
Aditya Narayanan
Just a nice urban park - Boston's Central Park, you could say. You will find hundreds of people here at any given time, swimming in the pond, walking, and enjoying the expansive lawns. Visiting the Common is a great way to relax during a hot Boston summer. The Public Garden across the street is even better!
Tina Sebastian
Busy place. The benches were fresly painted, so not too many places to seat in the shade. Good starting point for the walking tour
César Rincón Mayorga
The park is big, and there are a lot of areas where you can play sports or do a picnic. You can also jog here. I've seen a lot of dog owners bringing their pets here, so I guess this is a pet-friendly park. It is pretty easy to get here, and there are multiple access.
5/5.

Boston common is a very nice park in the center of Boston. It is said to be the oldest park in the US. It was wonderful to have a walk there. In spring weekends, people are having a lot of fun, kids are playing everywhere. Also, the place of full of squirrels. This place is wonderful to have a pick nick and take the children. I had a great time there and I do recommend it.
shani greenstein
Such a beautiful park. This is a great place to spend an afternoon or a whole day with friends, family or alone. There is so much to do and see. Bring a blanket and buy some food and you can have a great picnic. The playground is great if you're bringing children. There are a lot of running baths and places to ride scooters or bikes.
Farhan Phansopkar
Awesome place to relax and enjoy scenic and hostoric Boston.

What's not to love about the common?!? Beautiful flowers in the spring and summer, a great ice skating rink in the winter and of course the swan boats. Peaceful walking with easy access to show much in Boston including Newbury Street and Downtown. Note the squirrels will jump on you if you let them and there is often a lot of goose poop. A great place to visit any time of year.

Beautiful historic park in Boston. Picked up our walking tour here.
Mark Reginio
It is one of those experiences I'll never forget. I become excited thinking about the movies filmed here. Boston has the park system working beautifully. Since I am from California. I let the main duck rock out my Safety Orange hoodie.
Emanuella Silva
Fun for all ages. Beautiful place! Awesome for pictures. Definitely one of my favorite places to visit in Boston. There's a carousel, playground and the famous Frog Pond. By the way, there are restrooms by Frog Pond. You could bring some nuts or popcorn and feed the squirrels. Today was the perfect day to fly a kite 😁 …
Misty Deraps
Myself & my BFF took our girls to Boston Common on a particularly warm day, but the tree cover throughout the park was a great relief! There were many families in the wading pool & we enjoyed seeing all the ducks, pigeons, geese, chipmunks, squirrels & loved the swan boat ride!🦢🦆🐦🐿️ …
Tiffany N. Arango
Beautiful trees, and lots of history. Good for a stroll or to look at the statues in the park. Nice little gift shop available as well. Park is clean and has informative signs as needed.
Alex Issokson
Very pretty to walk around, especially when all of the lights for the holidays go up! Often other people walking around too but it's never too crowded. Centrally located and easy to walk through when heading somewhere in Boston.
Paul Nickell
What's more Boston than the Commons? An essential stop for every visitor. Understanding the Commons is to understand Boston.
Alberto Cardet
Awesome huge park with very interesting history. Underground parking is great, you just need to remember what level you parked on and how you got to the top.
C. Jules
Beautiful park that was established in 1634. We visited on a perfect Fall day.
To do it properly you might was to book a tour or take the time to research the historic markers/monuments and statues along the paths.
Adriana Perez
This is such a nice park and in such a nice area in Boston. Easily accessible by car or public transportation. The lawn is well kept and the park is very clean; there are several food spots, a playground, clean restrooms and plenty of space to do a nice picnic with friends. Also, lots of activities to do. Definitely a nice place to hang out when the weather cooperates!
Daniel Bryant
A great place to run (or start a run), and also a fun place just to walk and hang out. I've always felt safe here, with lots of early morning folks exercising and lots of organized activities in the evening going on.
The Freedom Trail passes through here, and there are good views of the State House and surrounding buildings
Restrooms can be found near the exit to Beacon Hill
Fibi N
Beautiful and very large park in the heart of Boston. Great place to go for a stroll, jog or picnic. They have an information center, food vendor trucks and a baseball field. Different events are held here throughout the year.
김단풍
I envy the people who live in Boston. To enjoy the park in the city
Curtis Mayfield
A large park near downtown Boston and a good place to rest after you finish the Freedom Trail. We started on the north end of the Freedom Trail at Bunker Hill and worked our way south. The park is well manicured and clean with lots of shade and benches to sit on.
Holly Bailey
Nice big park. There are vendors for the tourists. Garbage cans everywhere so very clean. On the Monday afternoon that we were there lots of police officers. The best part is the start of the red line walking tour. The center of the city!
Shamira Ken
Huge park, consisting of dog park, hot dog carts, adjoining public park. So together one can spend hours at both parks. Went during spring and the tulips were in full bloom. Love this park.
Deborah East
The reason I’m rating this a 4 is activity we saw at dusk or after dark; there were lots of homeless sleeping all around and even saw a street vendor flash his gun at someone. That said, the park was nice to hang out in during our school visits. There were lots of students sitting around in circles studying. Lots of people walking and jogging through the park. It’s surrounded by coffee shops and restaurants and very centrally located in the city. The park seemed fine during the day but I would travel in groups after dark.
Rutuja Bhamare
Best place to spend nice, quiet evening
Valentina garcia
Amazing place for visitors in Boston, a little show of what Boston is in the essence, a lot of options for food and entertainment
Obaid Imtiyaz
One of the finest public parks in the United States. Had fun during Halloween.
Patrick Scott Welsh (Paugh)
I'm not sure I'll add anything with this review. I'm sure others will have touched on every single attribute over time. But they're all right and it's amazing.
Frog pond ice skating, playground, food trucks, leaves changing, view of the golden dome of city hall, stopping off from the busy city streets, crossing over to explore the bricked beauty of Beacon Hill, and the list keeps going. And will keep going with the addition of the new sculpture area which has been fun to watch go up over the past few months.
There's nothing common about Boston Common.
Johanna Marvin
Such a beautiful garden. I love the Mallards and the "Make Way for Ducklings" statues. The squirrels all over the park are so fun to watch. It is a great place to take a walk, a break, or just people watch!
Randa Abla
Very nice and peaceful, we happened to be at the right time for a free show of Shakespeare's 'Much ado about nothing' play.... You can just grab a dinner and sit on the grass and enjoy the show in the evening.
Jesse Badger
Really nice park frequented by a diverse group of people. Nice fountains and sitting areas and a lot of people playing games and music all over the place.
It is also a stop on the Freedom Trail.
James Zhang
Very nice park! Also has a memorial to the 54th regiment, which was the first regiment of African American soldiers in the Civil War.
J W
I love this public park. It has plenty of seating and shade for hot weather. Not a fan of street musicians playing loudly in a quiet park or bicyclists riding through when they are not supposed to.
Brooklyn Huntington
A lovely park to walk through. Large and well kept.
Dan Madrigal
Beautiful park. Must see
Sarah Al Bayati
It was amazing place to visit highly recommended
The weather in August was so nice
Stephen Priest
I had a great time! I enjoyed walking the park, seeing the foliage, listening to the Japanese string instruments playing, people speaking different languages, seeing the Statehouse, the well maintained homes and seeing the skyscrapers surrounding the park. Only two food trucks available. Food & drink vendors available. Public Gardens located across the street. Both parks were clean and well maintained.
Update: Saturday afternoon, September 2021; I explored again after my walk on the Freedom Trail. Playground, monuments, fountain, music 🎵, vendors and the visitor's center were what I remembered the most this time. I learned a bit more about the history of the Common on the Freedom Trail tour I went on.
What concerns me was the noticable homeless population and the police 🚓 driving on the sidewalks. At least if I needed help 🆘, I know they are there.
I recommend a visit.
Md. Akiful Haque
Nice place to spend times on weekends
Jason K
Great parking! I would park here again, the pavement was smooth and the parking lines were bright and easy to see.... Of all of the places I have parked this year, these spots were the most luxurious
Yasmin Wizman
Great park. Lovely and calm
Alex C
I enjoy using Boston Common as the start to many an adventure. Well kept and safe, always a pleasure to sit and enjoy a coffee whilst watching the world pass you by. Rich in history and surrounded by places to visit.
Andrea Soruco
There is a beautiful part of the park, the smaller side, is clean, well kept a real pleasure to walk by and you feel safe...however the larger part of the park looked run down, full of junkies, homeless and more important dirty and felt unsafe, which for a tourist or a woman is not attractive at all, specially in the middle of the day. The picture posted is from the nicer and worth visiting part of the Boston Common park.
Vahe Yacoubian
Absolutely stunning and a beautiful place to enjoy the weather. I have been here during all 4 seasons and it always a fun time to go. Perfect for walking, picnics, tennis, baseball/softball, football, etc. If you are a student, popular to grab Tatte and eat at the park.
Najat Kessler
Located At the heart of Boston, the Boston Commons should be on your DO NOT MISS list while visiting. Everything about the city of Boston is present here or in surroundings.
All L
Boston Common is one of my favorite place to go. Nice walk many shops close by. Near subway or street parking very convenient. Great outdoor place to get some fresh air.
Eric Jubeck
So much space to explore and beautiful- also easy access to underground parking
Manan Shah
A mini central park version in the heart of Boston downtown. Ideal place to relax, jog or spend time with family and friends. They even have many Bluebikes stations around, so riding a bike in the park is one option too. Would recommend visiting this place during the summer months and when in Boston
Alessandra
I love the Park and it's surroundings. If you follow the Freedom Trail, there is so much history. Boston is great and I enjoy myself there each time.
Beth Budner
My only suggestion for the future is hopefully adding some visible restroom signage so our local Boston Common pedestrians & I can find them more easily.
Otherwise, this still brings back fond memories of when my dad & I were riding our 1st tandem bike during the '85 Grape Nuts" Bike ride (i.e. Near the Charles River).
Beth
Peak Potential
So much to do and look at when you arrive at the Commons. Parking there is decently in priced and brings you right out in the middle of the Commons. You can take the kids to the Frog park and then walk all over town. Plenty of shops, restaurants, and most of all, historical landmarks to visit from here.
James Chan
Nice park with friendly squirrels 🐿️🤣 …
V “гей секс роботов”
I’ve been going here for years & it’s always been my fav spot to relax and take everything in. Tons of characters & the squirrels are use to people & will come feed out your hand. Would love to see a bigger play ground for the kiddos in the future.
Dennis Lockard
Oct 11 2022 beautiful day for a walk in the park
Ann Isler
So beautiful the day I was there. Love the carousel, and the eagle statue they haven't put up yet in the construction area. Watched the protesters for rent control in front of the State Building. Took great pictures.
Mariana Bongiovanni
I loved it!! Rome&Juliet Boston Lyric Opera
Dennis Reddy
Great place to explore, frog pond ice skating for the family. Lots of fun. Always something new, slot of squirrels to feed and enjoy
Natali
For me, this is one of the most beautiful places in Boston👀 …
Monique Prates
wonderful place! People walking their dogs, couples walking hand in hand, lots of squirrels all over the park, magical! Bring peanuts, they love it!
Rosa Brown
I have been going to the Commons since I was a college student in Cambridge, MA. My friends and I would take the T to Park Street and hang out all day when we were not in class. We had ice cream at Brigham's that isn't there any more. McDonald's is still there.
The last time I went I drove from Mission Hill and parked in the Boston Common Parking Garage underneath the Common. It was much less than other Parking Garages in Boston.
Just recently, my daughter's with my grandkids in the stroller had a bite to eat at the Tasty Burger before we headed home. It was a beautiful day and a great place to hang out.
Todd Brown
Beautiful. Only eye twitching situation was a man playing a beautiful instrument but he had it turned up so loud with the speaker that the squirrels were running away. Sounded like a train with emergency brakes on going really fast. You could hear it from any where in the park. I felt like a turrets patient with no meds
Aranna Dey
It's a great, expansive, lush green, tree-filled city centre park in central Boston, near-zero cold and windy in the winter, and sunlight-laden, green and great for picnics for everyone.
Passed by it on my tour in central Boston, learnt about it and briefly spent time relaxing in it before I headed home.
Alexander “LEX” Smith
BosTon CommoN. Great place for walking and capturing FaLL!
Daphne
This park is more recreational than scenic. Its lawn shows the weathering of people gathering to run and play. It is equipped with a play ground and an outdoor eatery (if open). It has a large monument and gazebo. It also has numerous paths for walking.
Deb Duarte-Calorio
It's a gorgeous Public Park full of History. Boston Common is America's oldest public park. Great for stroll at any season. Perfect for family activities. A lot to see and do.
Steve Elfant
A very nice park with a view on downtown Boston. The frog pond is a nice wadding pool for little kids, and it turns into a small ice skating rink in the winter.
Tahny D
Stunning! We visited in May and the gardens were amazing! We loved strolling through the pathways and seeing all the statues. All the history and sights were amazing. The sidewalks are very wide an accommodate a lot of people. There were lots of places to stop, sit and relax.
Sakara Nikolay
So nice place to chill and walking around so much-loved
Simran Malik
Always a fun day to walk around Boston commons.
Tamara LeBron
Beautiful place to sit and people watch.
Billy K
I love Boston. The Commons is beautiful. The homeless and the criminals looking for a victim are so prevalent, it's embarrassing to me as a born and raised Bostonian. Mayor Wu. I know you inherited Marty Walsh's mess but do something. Anything will be an improvement!
Ratnadeep Korabu
Nice park for weekend hangouts and event photography. There are really talented musicians who play music in the park. There are benches to site on and lawn for children to play. You can bring you dig for a walk or play with other dogs as well. It has a beautiful view of the prudential and sunset in the evening.
Bongi
It's a beautiful park.
Sandra Beatty
They were having a canabus festival the day we were there. You could smell the pot, There all kinds of people there, smoking and having a good time. We just walked threw and it was so crowded we didn't see much.
Abner Gerome
Wide open spaces...duck 🦆 boats... different types of merchants... beautiful peaceful trees... friendly squirrel 🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️🐿️...located in the heart of Boston..great history...now with the martin Luther king's monument.. …
jayesh kawli
Boston common may not be as charming as Public Garden, but still a good place to visit. There are good gardens, memorials, and relaxing places. It's very beautiful with its vicinity to Boston downtown, high-rising and Massachusetts State house. It's well maintained and cared for
gunjita joshi
Super beautiful park with nice trees, big pathways and a very photogenic lake and bridge.. perfect spot to unwind and take lots of pictures.. you can spend a nice day here... Sit by the lake and watch ducklings floating by... It's a handcrafted park and I would recommend travellers to spend a day here in visit to Boston!
Mary Worby
Very beautiful in it's fall colours. Fabulously, if unseasonably warm, for November. A great place for an outdoor picnic.
Paul Bains
Great place to spend the day and relax. Multiple activities near city center and always some sort of events near by. Great place to stroll!
Joaquin Pabon
Visit to see the Embrace. It was good. Something weird, no snow at this time.
Ramisa Hossain
Great place to be at! Is usually kept clean and easy to social distance. Perfect for picnics.
Hector Longoria
Beautiful park with so many freedom trail tours, it was very enjoyable on a spectacular day. Definitely a quality park to visit time and again!!
Anaida KITTY
Wonderful experience meeting VIP Gloria Trevi 2022 tour Boston
draelgendi
Amazing park area. A lot of old trees with different colors some of which are very old with magnificent shape. There is a small lake with ducks. Squires are all around the park area and they are very friendly. The park is open for public and a lot of people do run or walk through the park area.
Tommy Bradford
Always a lot of action especially a lot of tourists learning about Boston's history it's very interesting a lot of musicians staying in hotels performing it's awesome children and their families enjoying themselves small around the world
Ed G
Popular hangout place when the weather is right. Green and peaceful with a number of interesting historical monuments. Great place for relaxing and picnicking.
Geck -
Went at night and during the day, and you should definitely go during the day, very cozy and great scenery, however at night we did see rats and lots of people doing drugs
Chan
a feast to the eyes. we simply walked around here and had a great time sightseeing while we were at it. refreshing to see historical buildings which are older than my nan.
Chandra Vadivel
This is a huge park in downtown Boston and some say it’s the “oldest” city park in the US. I’ve been visiting this park for past 6 years and it’s one of the best places to walk around with your puppies, dogs and human friends. I used to visit this park 2-3 times in a Semester(during my college days) but now since I’ve a puppy (currently 6 1/2 months old) I visit this park every other weekend. For dogs there is a off-leash area (no fence) but big enough for them run, chase and play. There are numerous walking paths here in this park and one couple easily spend an hour walking around.
On the map right across Boston Commons one would see Boston Public Garden. There is a huge pond in the center and bridge over it, it’s always a lovely view from up there. Beware, there are lot of geese here except winter time. They’ll not harm one or anything, it’s just a heads up.
There is a huge IMAX Theater-AMC right in front of the park. There is at least a tennis court right behind the baseball field.
Gilles Feith
Really nice park in the middle of Boston downtown
Mrs G
Beautiful gardens. Such a relaxing space to spend some quality time with your kids. Lots of picture opportunities with the ducks and swans. We went on the swan boats which was a short ride but so much fun.
Matthew Laubenstein
Beautiful site and a great place to see the statehouse. We even saw the governor taking some photos before he departed his office as well as preparations for the inauguration of Governor Healey.
Christine Deslauriers
Went to Boston Common as a family on Martin Luther King Day to view The Embrace Monument.
It was a snowy day and we experienced great difficulty maneuvering the park. My husband slipped and fell on the "slush" around the monument, but lucky a couple of other visitors were able to help him up.
There were no signs showing the way to The Embrace or the Visitors Center, and noone (including staff at an onsite sandwich shop) could direct us. The portable toilets were open however totally uncared for- i.e. none had toilet paper or soap, and some were covered in excrement. Once we were able to find The Embrace and the Visitors Center on our own we were able to use an indoor bathroom which was clean and even purchase souvenirs. The staff at the Visitors Center were both friendly and helpful (even allowing us to try on tshirts prior to buying them). The only concern that I had with the Visitors Center was that when utilizing the baby changing table for clothes when trying on tshirts- it was directly over the heater and so hot that it could definitely burn a baby placed on it.
AO
Beautiful place, it's worth a visit.
Jane K.
As expected, this is a great park with historical significance! It was larger than I thought based on pictures, so there is lots to see around it. The pathways are big and maps around the park are a nice touch as well. If you're a tourist, some online maps are better and have good descriptions about the spots.
Tom Pringle
Beautiful park to walk around any time of year. I highly recommend visiting the park, any time of year, any time of day as there's always something to see.
Alex Diaz
I love coming here with the kids wife and dog, be careful not everyone picks up after they're dog. Beautiful place in the summer or winter
Martín Orejel
Nice place for new year eve fireworks event
Merlin Cruz
Beautiful! I’ve only been during the fall (I’m not from here) but it’s so beautiful. Lots of people but enough space so it doesn’t feel crowded. Great food trucks as well. In the winter they had ice skating but didn’t get to do it because of the huge lines. Very beautiful and peaceful. Every time I’m in town I make time to come here. Love it!
Kurk Watts
Except for the hideous looking MLK statue it is a wonderful place to visit though it is quite small compared to parks out West!
Gregory Barriere
It was great. My children & grandchildren loved walking & talking then to the playground, 50 degree weather & sunshine. 😊 …
Patricia Krotki
It's a beautiful place, that have many things going on for free. Like myself after paying bills donor have much $$$. There alot enjoying the activities. Was last there on fathers day. Was really nice and generous to all fathers. Even woman....
april connell
What a gorgeous park! And such a reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the city that surrounds it. We visited on a lovely summer day, and everyone was all smiles, whether sitting or walking or skating! We were both amazed and impressed with how many people fed the wildlife- but more so, how relaxed and trusting the wildlife was of the humans! We will not forget the joy found in this special, historical haven.
Craig Ktoy
This is a wide expanse of outdoor park that offers a wide range of points for admiration, from a shallow water pond/play area to the historic memorial site, to the residence of John Hancock/Mass Statehouse. The park area is lightly shaded by a few trees, which provide a relaxing partially shadded enjoyment of a stroll or on the few park benches. There is a slight negative issue of some homeless people there - but they showed no sign of causing issue + in fact, there was a wedding group having photos taken - less than 30 ft from a couple 'stumbling' guys minding their own business.
Liseli P.
So much to see when you walk around. Just wondering around aimlessly you see the history. Stroll around the cemetery for sure you'll see names you recognize. There are plaques all over the place to give you context and narrative ... and you can walk the freedom trail around the commons quite a bit
Lotus chaney
This place is definitely a staple in my opinion, especially in the spring/summer when they have events and everyone is hanging out. But there is stuff to do in the colder months like ice skating and just walking around. Its a big beautiful park and you get a fantastic panoramic view of the city, while feeling secluded from the noise.
skottidogg10
Fantastic daytime activity. All times of year. Summer in the shade of the plethora of local and imported trees. Wintertime bring some nuts and picnic to share with the squirrels, plenty of refuse stations keeps it clean. Go for a little skate, not or do some yoga while in the background you can hear the skillful musicians playing their tunes for passers by.
timothy quinn
Beautiful park in downtown that truly feels inclusive. Great walking paths and a mix of all people just hanging out. Felt very safe, great place to spend time with friends or family.
Jeff Miller
The oldest public park in the US and in the fall, a stunning place to walk around. The Freedom Trail starts here, so it is a natural place to visit. A map can be purchased for $3 detailing all the sights to stop at, otherwise there is a Freedom Trail app to download, available for free!
Heather Chang
Excellent park with 2 off leash dog parks within. Nice dogs and my dog got to make new friends and burn off some puppy energy. It's beautiful here. Also the park looks like that scene in the Mary Poppins movie where the carousel horses come to life.
Opo Herrera
The park and surrounding areas are great to walk! The new sculpture is beautiful and meaningful.
MonaLisa Leung Beckford
America's oldest park has a very historical feel and atomosphere when you go there. They have public restrooms, a large playground for kids, an ice skating rink (the frog pond during the winter) and many historical figure statues for photo taking. It's in the heart of Boston downtown so it's pretty easy to get to via train or bus. The park is always clean with many places to sit and do picnic.
Kimberly Morvig
Beautiful park Lots to see. Right off the train station so easy to get to. We went for one of the free activities for Halloween the kids enjoyed Also did a lantern tour of the freedom trail that was really fun and not to spooky for the kids.
Michael Schmidt
Beautiful, well kept park. Many places to walk or relax. Foliage and birds to look at. Beautiful pond in which you can take a leisurely ride on a swan boat. Historical markers around the park telling the history of Boston. This Memorial Day weekend, the display of flags for fallen soldiers was breathtaking. There's even a carousel and a fountain. The park is surrounded by shops. Plenty of places to eat. Easy access via the metro red and green lines.
Mrs. McCorry
Very nice park. Lovely to take pictures in and there's also a playground. This park has a lot of history. The first time we visited Boston, our haunted ghost tour started here and it's ancient cemetery. Yes there's a cemetery. The gazebo also has a ghost story associated with it. We were here in October and again in November. Both times SO COLD. there's an ice rink during the fall/winter months. Also, home to the FATTEST squirrels I've ever seen!!! And pigeons.
Matthew Crockett
A very nice park to hang out in or just stroll around. It's the start of the Freedom Trail in Boston and has a nice visitor center with a knowledgeable staff and souvenirs. Sitting in front of the statehouse, the Commons has great views plus a nice fountain and a couple of monuments. A must see when visiting the city and a relaxing place to be.
Chien-Chang Chen
There is a skating court where you can skate. But I didn’t try it. Not much snow on the main path. There is a subway station. Movie theater is at the south side. Freedom trail begins here. Nice place to go when it’s warmer.
Zach Badamo
Everything you could want in a park! Plenty of grassy seating areas to tan or to have a picnic in the shade. Great for morning walkers/joggers but high traffic in the afternoon and early evening would make it difficult. Tons of historic statutes surround the park. Take some time and visit this beautiful getaway in the heart of Boston.
Jose Luis
A park in Boston downtown, pretty close to the financial center and good place to chill out and relax. There are a lot of benches all over the park and lawns to lay down and take a nap or just read.
There are often people running over there, as well as dogs and some homeless people. There are a lot of ducks in the lake and swan boats to take a ride on.
There's a tube stop just right in the corner.
Jesse Van-Harlinger
Beautiful area! The Commons provides open grassy areas, monuments, gardens, play structures, walk ways, and a lake. All in the middle of the city. It's a gem! A thoughtfully laid out plan that easily navigates you around the park.
Erin Collard
We took a walking tour. It was 90 minutes and covered about 1.5 miles. Our tour guide was great. His persona was that of a British soldier and he remained in character giving a very interesting and humour perspective of all the sites we visited. The open park is beautiful and Central to so many wonderful sites and activities.
Anthony G Canizares
Loved it. Coming back to Boston after so many years was great. Met an old dear friend from CT w my wife, and had a blast. Thank you Bostonians for a great time.
Graphene
Looking for a free outdoor activity in the Boston area? Take a walk through Boston Common. A wonderful community space. Great for the all ages. We felt so refreshed strolling through and getting some fresh air. Founded in the 17th century, this gorgeous park will be a highlight to your trip as it was ours.
Plus, check out the adjacent garden 😉
Anmar Fathaldin
Nothing beats laying down on the grass and sleeping to the sound of annoying ducks but still loving every second of it
Katherine Horn
Classic Boston place to hang out and people watch. There's history there, too.
Francisco Alcaraz
Pretty great place that is full of people and information, a gathering place. The freedom trail starts here and is a great place to start off your exploration of Boston. There are lots of places around to go and eat and tons of photographic opportunities. The exploration of Boston starts here!
PS there's also an information center located at the start of the freedom trail.
Cori Viajes
I love the common, Beautiful place to go for a walk, nature is astonishing and it’s huge, you can spend the day there, maybe a nice picnic but it’s worthy!
Kim Pho
Came here on my first trip to Boston and it is a beautiful park! It was a beautiful spring afternoon and so many people were out and about, walking dogs, enjoying the nice weather in this accessible park right in the middle of downtown Boston. Such nice greenery, easy walking trails, and important pieces of history sprinkled throughout. Highly recommend to any tourists visiting Boston!
M CC
Beautiful, big park!
Caro Rendon
I love this place so much, the peace and serenity is amazing. My family and I was from NYC for short vacation and we love it. A lot of things to do with the family and kids. Coincidentally we were in a car show and it was great. The people there were very kind.
Sora Park
A lovely green area at the start of the freedom trail! It isn’t as big as some parks, but definitely charming. It had food trucks while we were there that smelled amazing, as well as plenty of places to sit. It was very clean, and surrounded by historic sites!
Genevieve K
Walking around Boston Commons during Memorial Day was incredible. The sea of flags at the base of the monument commemorating the fallen heroes was quite moving. Every inch of Boston is clad in history. The park is so large that you don't feel crowded. Tons of food vendors help with thirst and hunger while exploring this massive park. There is a lovely playground for kids while large trees shade it from the hot sun. You can also go on the pond and enjoy a leisurely ride. Great place to bring a picnic under the trees.
Renata Pastuszak
great place to bring your kids, pets, photographer, parents, family, friends. food court still open during covid. pond was drained but the trees look lovely.
foxy hunter
Dinsey on ice was practice today
A Lozada
Beautiful park in the middle of the city. Very clean and well maintained. Kids really enjoyed the playground as well as all the historic monuments. Great teaching and learning moments!
Laura G
Definitely check this place out if you're visiting Boston. It's one of the cleanest parks I've ever been to and the squirrels are so friendly! I didn't want to leave.
Jessie Johnson
The Boston common offer beautiful garden views, places to relax in safety on the grass, or walking paths to get active. There is also entertainment by music or acts occasionally throughout the park. Food vendors, the frog pond, and the carousel are also attractions to the common.
Subala J K
Great place to put up a little family picnic and rest for a while before you start on your city tour again. This place is a good centre point and walking distance from the church nearby and the Massachusetts state house (which I highly recommend). You could also stop here through your freedom trail walk. Vast area and filled with greenery.
Jeffrey Katz
Didn't spend a whole lot of time here, although it was nice to walk through the park, see the skating facilities and visit the visitors center (also a publicly available bathroom in the visitors center). Would like to come back during the nicer weather to appreciate more of the outdoors events.
Tina Luong
It's a good outdoor space. Not a lot of seating.
I particularly took to the Christmas tree off to the side in the commons. It's from Nova Scotia. Every year they send a Christmas to Boston in thanks for their help during one of their tragic times.
Aleena G.
Such a lovely place to go for a stroll or get some excerise in! Good coffee shops around the area, too.
Aniruddha
Nice park it’s a mix bag . Has history, movie location, great playground for kids , nice terrain to play around , restroom at visitor center (good collection of merchandise and it’s reasonably priced ) .
Lisa Njeru
Bostons own Central park.. only more beautiful 🤩 Love this place its so beautiful in summer n better in Fall .. must visit while in BeanTown! …
Guy Murray
Incredible scenery and wildlife. Beautiful park with lakes, bridges and fountains.
Deepti Gupta
This is my fav fav place to relax and take a peaceful walk in all the seasons ❄️❤️!
Fred Langa
The Common is great; this sculpture, not so much. It's fine from the front, but it's weird and unrecognizable from other angles.
Ashley Thomas
Beautiful park - there’s a ice skating rink, a couple of access points for the Green Line in the T, an off-leash dog park area and a few beautiful memorials. I was there in the winter so I can’t speak to the same weather activities but it was really kept up nicely when we were there.
Also, it used to be John Hancock’s pasture and Revolutionary-era British soldiers were camped there so that’s pretty amazing.
Veronica Valadares
Very nice area to walk by. Part of the freedom trail, you can do ice skating on winter; enjoy the place to do picnic and other outside activities.
Michael Lidell
The Boston Common is a lovely green oasis in the center of the city. It is a great place to connect to the Freedom Trail of historic sites.

Beautiful centralized location in historic Boston, traditional Swan Boats, live music, food vendors, and more.
Guethshina Altena
Beautiful park! Possibly one of my favorites this entire trip.
Fran McCall
Walk through Boston Comman today. Beautiful Christmas Tree. We'll be back in the spring to see t h e Swan Boats.
Riley Pittman
This is such a beautiful place to come and play or relax with your friends and family. It is in a perfect location, right next to the Public Gardens and surrounded by cool restaurants and shops. I have been here in summer, fall, winter, and spring, and no matter the season it is just as fun and pretty.
Sean Sharon
An absolutely beautiful place to walk around during the winter holidays! It is a spacious and not-overly-crowded area, and is a relatively safe place to walk if you're alone.
Vikram Karandikar
Nice park in the middle of the city. Great place to play games, relax. Good connectivity with public transport.
Jayden F
Really nice park and we felt very safe walking around.
beth ders
Frog pond wasn't open yet but much less crowded. Nice play area. food trucks, public restrooms and open areas to sit.
Claire C Tsao
Beautiful day to spend with family. Very touching Memorial Day weekend
Tina Arteaga
A beautiful park, with a great deal of history. Really enjoyed the sites. So much history to see.
Elix taveras
Wonderful Place and very clean whole family can visit and enjoy the ice skating winter season
Traci Jovančević
Beautiful and well cared for park. There's an area by the fountain up near the T where some pretty shady people hang out, but otherwise it's quite safe and always enjoyable to walk through.
Homero Info
beautiful place, place where the journey through the history of Boston begins. excellent guides, a tour that you cannot miss
East Coast Resident
This is a nice park with some important and interesting historic monuments. Visitors to Boston with high expectations of the place should be advised the area encompassing it is both overall quite modern and a little run down. it isn't a truly colonial part of Boston for visitors looking for that, despite its age. But it is close to historic areas - as is everything in central Boston with public transport.
Troy Kump
It was great to visit here while I was in town. It was raining but still beautiful. I like the vendors that are close by. I got some fried bread and earrings while I walked the park and then made my way through historic downtown buildings. So much history in a mile radius be sure to give yourself the full day to take it all in.
John
Lovely park, green we'll maintained and always something going on.
Alma Otaño
Beautiful views, children had a lot of space to play with fountains made just for them, the park is full of live, perfect for picnics and family time. Great history in its walls and you can learn about it in every corner. Went there this last 4th of July and was perfect!
Enlightened Lady Toker 420
Gorgeous little park in the middle of a great city. Great way to pass an afternoon. Loved the live tours with people dressed for the information of the time they were talking about.
Prakash Gupta
A visit to this place is the only thing you need to be happy, especially if it's a sunny day. Squirrels are cute and love to interact with humans. This place is a must visit even if the weather outside is gloomy.
Michael Kouznetsov
Beautiful park with lots of history. Good for dogs too! 🐕 …
Debisree Ray
A wonderful piece of greenery, right inside the hustles and bustles of the city. Must visit if you are in Boston. Wonderful fall colour if you are visiting in fall time. The T station is called ‘ Park street’ . There are so many cafe, fast food restaurants, malls nearby. You can see some vendors selling food and little stuffs in front of the Boston common as well.
Hong Zhang
You have everything in this large common - ponds with cute animals, gardens, sculptures, statues, subway stations, street performers, food carts...
John “JB” Belt
Large, historic green space. Several monuments can be found here, such as the tribute to the Boston Massacre. Truthfully, this is the only area of historical downtown Boston that I didn't feel quite at ease. Large groups of youths loitering about, homeless people, trash lying about, etc. This experience may be atypical of the area and I'm sure Boston PD does a fine job preparing the area for events, but during my time there I felt a need to keep my guard up. No where else in downtown gave me this feeling.
Lorian Torres Leon
Went in Oct and the weather was amazing!! Beautiful and clean City!Highly recommended! ♥️ 👻🎃👍 …

Great place to relax and just sit or walk. A great park inside the city. You can also have a free tour guide, juat follow the big crowd.
Gustavo Tinetti
Beautiful place! Excellent cheese cake! Excellent ambiance. Must see and make a coffee stop there!
Ham burglar
Lovely park located in an area of Boston that features many historical sites. If you're walking the trail and visiting these sites, then absolutely stop at Boston common and see the Duckling statue and the bench from Good Will Hunting.
Anne Huber, REALTOR
Lovely Boston Common, the beautiful public garden that we love to visit every time we come to Boston. Our favorite stop is to see the ducklings, of course, and the pond where the swan boats typically operate.
Jainif Marediya
Good garden area right next to the public garden. Several statues worth checking out
Bill Vallee
Much Ado About Nothing on the Common had much to do with creating a beautiful evening under the stars. And free at that!
Rambler Elk
Beautiful gem in the heart of Boston. A great spot for tourists and residents to cool off and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. You can find food vendors and souvenir carts almost all year round. There are also newly installed toilets on the corner of Charles which are always clean.
Jay OLeary
Great place to stop and relax and people watch during your visit to Beatown. Remember to feed the Squirrel's or else. Enjoy.
Watchanan Chantapakul
A very cozy park to visit, sit, and chill out. Really recommend to be there at least once.
Andres Rivas
Great historic place to hang out during our hot and humid day. Easily accessible by an underground parking and across the street from Cheers
Caron Dodson
Lovely park. Lots of squirrels! Skating rink in the winter.
Hector Guillama
Beautifull place, music around and a lot of people enjoying the good wheater.
Jaime Necochea
Nice parce to wet your feet and see some children enjoy during summer. Perfect place for ice skating during winter. Diverse park, lovely and recommended. Public bathrooms available
Kelly Dye
We went at the beginning of June and the weather was just perfect. Beautiful trees and grass, the squirrels were everywhere.. So we're the vagrants. The secret is to go early. You get tons of tourists and tons of people and events, but if you go early you have a little bit more privacy and a little bit more Elbow Room... This was an amazing day to go. And I highly suggest you come and visit this amazing area
Jeff Randall
A nice respite in a big city. Like many of the parks in Boston, it is well maintained and very clean. This is a great place to rest your feet as you explore the historic sites in downtown Boston.
Davis D. Janowski
I'm envious of Bostonians as a New Yorker; they have preserved far more of their historical heritageespecially as it relates to their colonial and Revolutionary War historythan New York. It is challenging to get into a Revolutionary War history buff fervor in NYC because what few sites we have are sparse and generally widely separated or limited to plaques and statues. Just a handful of buildings still date to the period.
Tom J
Nice park for spending some time with your friends, kids or good meeting point. Good for walks, some street food, evening summer concert or other public activities. This is basically starting point of Freedom trail. More information in tourist center. Public restrooms.
Steve Morgan
Nice open spaces and lots of green for dogs 🐕 to run and play....plus Cheers …
Daniel Duran
One of the first parks in America! I definitely recommend spending a few hours exploring this park and seeing all points of interest!
Stephen Baumann
This place has amazing and wonderful people buried here. Sam Adams and John Hancock to name two. However, do not be confused by the omnipresent Franklin centerpiece. It's only Ben's parents. Not to say they aren't important too but if you want to see good old Ben's grave, you'll have to travel a tad bit south to Philly.
Martín Landeros
Really nice park. A must if you’re visiting the city!
Martina Huertas
What a beautiful park! With food vendors, bathrooms, interesting historical landmarks nearby and just a well kept flora, it was a great start to our day in Boston! Truly a beautiful city, with interesting people and architecture.
Cindi McGee
Such a beautiful place, planned for a couple of hours and spent twice the amount of time.
aditi jain
Best of Boston's public garden. I really like the place.. good for walk.. nice in morning or evening.. whether its sunny or rainy or windy.. you see ducks , water and nice views!
SHUHAIB
Great park area with a lot of history. I visited this place recently for the Romeo and Juliet live drama which was actually free!
There are plenty of historic memorials and statues nearby and you can read the engraved text to learn about the interesting history of boston and American revolution!
Did you know? - Boston common is the oldest park in America!
Vinny Balzano
Boston common is always flowing with people, and there are plenty of entertainers throughout the park to keep one occupied. I usually come out to relax and read a book, sprawled out on a blanket. The food stands look wonderful as well. When we first moved out here, we did the freedom trail tour and it started over here. Very cool area, ill be there a good amount of time while I'm out here!
Raymond Robinson
A beautiful and lush public space. Has a bunch of history to it and is wonderful to walk around and enjoy.
Vanessa Widman
Unable to access Capitol building due to protestors! Not happy. I totally understand why the police wanted to keep everyone out, but dang! But did see most of the Commons, and it was an inspiring walk. Beautiful architecture that has been preserved for 100s of years.
Ivy Cao
A very famous place in Boston. If you are new to this city, this place is like a must-go place. In the winter you can ice skating here. You can also start your freedom trail journey here (took me an hour and a little bit more to finish the walking).
Adri
Great park. Obvious that they take care of the grounds. They even offer tours. The botanical gardens are nice. Lots of good shops and restaurants in the area. East to get to on the T.
Sanjay Gupta
such a beautiful park. . .so much history surrounding it.
It's green, lush with life, activity, and people. At Boston Common, you have all the space you could ever want. From sprawling space to picnic space, to park benches.
the starting point of the Freedom Trail, and holds the distinction of being the oldest city park in the country. Spanning almost 50 acres
There were a few carts set up to buy drinks or snacks, there were also guys making balloon animals for kids. Swan boat ride looked like fun. T station is right beneath it.
The park is littered with historical monuments including The Sailor and Soldier Monument, The Statue of Washington and the Gardner Brewer Fountain by French artist Liénard for the World Exposition of 1855 in Paris. The bronze fountain is decorated with the mythical figures of Neptune, Galatea, Amphitrite, and Acis.
I can keep this place in the same line as Central Park, NY.
Âłbęrt Päjøttė
This is one of the most greatest parks I’ve ever been too. I’m my opinion this is Boston’s Central Park.
This park is huge, full and always active I’ll continue to come back.
Rodrigo J Diel
Great park with s lot of trees and grass for different activities in the middle of town.
Faisal Imran
A beautiful garden to enjoy the nature and history
Ben Bostic
A beautiful park to enjoy if you're in Boston. Go for a duck boat ride or just relax. They usually have a great display around Memorial day, as well.
June-Young Chiao
It's an excellent park that is enjoyable all year round. They have Christmas tree lighting in the winter, and you can walk your dog in the summer. On certain days of the year, it will be crowded with mysterious people playing some game called Pokemon Go everywhere. If you are lucky, you can find the legendary albino white squirrel. Lots of free festivals are in the Commons. Check your calendars.
Freya Fay
Very beautiful park. I love greenspace:')
June Adams
It's always a pleasure to visit Boston Commons. You never know what you may see or get to do while you're there. Crossed over to Boston Gardens and saw beautiful flowers everywhere!
Karl Olsen
Peaceful place in a very busy downtown.
Very good parking available underground.
Seeing the outdoor ice skating rink during warm weather was interesting.
Erin Crowell
Beautiful city park with plenty of green space for running around and playing. Gorgeous statues
Reihaneh Samsami
Nice place for late night walks but I don’t feel safe seeing crowd of people sitting at the end of park, around that square area, who do not look reasonable.
Panajachel
I guess this is Bostons version of Central Park.
Not much to look at.
The garden section is much better.
The soldiers & Sailor's monument is nice..
At least they have a nice park.
Ashley Tenczar Curran
I review places for disabled and handicapped individuals. I focus on these issues when I do the reviews, as many of you know.
From the standpoint of a disabled person visiting Boston oh, and their caregiver I can say that the Boston Commons in its entirety is a difficult place to navigate because of several issues. The first being there are no public restrooms other than at the visitor center and that is not wheelchair accessible, having only two stalls in a small corner of the visitor center. I'm not even sure I could negotiate a wheelchair into the visitor center just to look around at the items.
Everyone knows that a caregiver needs a reliable phone. There is nowhere to charge your cell phones tablets or the like. I think the city should actually make about 50 outlets and just like a parking meter, have people put changing to charge their phones. If a person is struggling the Boston common is quite a large place and it would be difficult to get help. It is an absolutely beautiful spot of Boston, the very best, it brings peace and Tranquility to lives that have loss, and physical and emotional limitations.
I believe there should be a separate Visitor Center for the handicapped and disabled. Perhaps even just for the purpose of handicapped bathrooms, perhaps water if the person is dehydrated, and just a staff that reassures the person that they are cared for by the city, and to get out of the Sun or rain for a bit... Also service dogs could have a place to get water. Not everyone has $10 for a small glass of lemonade. This is a very large Park, and if you are going and you are handicapped and or disabled, please make sure to plan your trip in the exact area you'll be going on the comments, and where you might find something to eat or drink, a place to rest.
Mary Dutczak
I love coming to here to walk around with my friends and my dog. It's really pretty during spring time especially when there is a nice cherry blossom to view.
Fricken Clutch
We spent most of our time between the commons, public garden , freedom trail, downtown, the harbor, and chinatown. Out of all three days we spent the most time in the garden and commons. Just remarkable, and tranquility, peace. You have to experience it to fathom it. Words can not do it justice.
Celeste De Palma
One of my favorite places in Boston. The Common and the adjacent Public Garden offer spectacular picnic locations. The first public park of the US has plenty of space for all, humans of all ages and dogs alike. There are two off-leash areas for the sogs to romp around, but beware that these are not fenced in and are close to the street. My dog walks around the park on leash for this reason but enjoys herself nonetheless.
Keep an eye out for events! Plenty pop up before winter.
Antonella Marrocco
A green lung in the center of the city. Well organized and maintained. Very pretty all year around, but I would have expected more ornaments and lights during Christmas time. Maybe next year!
Anastasia Yefremova
Great spot for a walk on a brisk, New England fall day! Just as stunning in the spring, when the trees bloom and everywhere you see pink flower petals scattered by the breeze. It's also a great shortcut to take from Beacon to Boylston/Tremont. Takes you right by the State House, and is a great alternative location to view the July 4 fireworks if you can't muscle your way to the Esplanade.
Kienan Mick
A gorgeous urban park. The animals are used to many tourists and being fed. If you choose to feed them use unsalted whole peanuts or sunflower seeds.
Madeline S
Very easy parking for a great weekend day of exploring on foot! ($18 all day on a weekend). Everything you want accessible nearby, nice park to stroll or picnic with ponds in summer and ice skating in winter, twinkle lights at night, fancy shops and movie theater nearby, designer discount shops, great food of all price ranges nearby. Had a fab day :)
Yusuf Jameel
Beautiful Park and a great place in the heart of the city to relax. Parks for kids and a great atmosphere.
Kevin Barrest
Beautiful park, the kids area and slashpad are great.
Sean Moor
Lively park in with stuff going on all the time. Great place for a stroll, a morning coffee or just to see the wild life. Watch a pick up game of baseball or dogs chasing each other through the park. Also this is the starting point to the Freedom Trail. Worth a visit or daily if you are staying in downtown Boston.
Michael McNerney
Each of the American Flags is representative of one military member from Massachusetts that has fallen in defense of our Country. This is a very powerful reminder of that cost going back to the Revolutionary War forward to present day America. The Flags shown number 37 thousand so far from this State.
Jackie F
I always love enjoying the Boston Common on beautiful summer nights. The history, atmosphere and the overall life of the city makes Boston a timeless and amazing place to visit.
Brian C Newman
Beautiful area for a run in spring or early summer. The park is well-maintained. Many historical references here as well. A great place to people watch.
M P
Always a great place to visit and certainly a must see.
Levieddon Lilimet
A fun and historic site. Nice to walk around and see the architecture
Usha Balasubramanian
It is very good place to spend your evenings on a summer day. Its vastness is an inviting feature and its greenness , an enticing one. It can even be a centre for social gathering.
hilary
Very peaceful. I enjoy watching the ducks and listening to the music being played by performers. One of my favorite spots.
Rich n Sue
We enjoyed the large greenspace on a lovely day. It was cool to learn the history of how it was used back in the days of the Puritans. It was the beginning of our Freedom Walk Tour through Boston.
Rome
Great park with a lot of history in the heart of Boston. It is big enough to feel like you are no longer in a fast-paced city. Also, very close to a lot of places to eat. If you are here on vacation, I would highly recommend to come check it out. Lastly, there was a ice rink in the winter.
Den Chou
I fondly remembered my time here as a child chasing after the frogs in the 1980s. I fell in the shallow pond. Minus 1 star because I haven't seen any frogs there for the past 20 years.
Hadi's Entertainment
Boston is a wonderful Palace for walking lovers, you can find lots of tourist spots when you are walking among streets, may be it is a good idea to call it " New England". if you are in to food, there are tons of restaurant, it is not as busy as New York and London and people are really friendly, all in all it is a good city for 3 days vocation, and if you have decided to move in Boston I believe it is a smart choice 😃
Magikarp Boy
Boston's popular park within the city. Adjacent to the public garden. Plenty of tourists and locals enjoying the summer. Not as big so its easy to walk the entire park. You can also start the self guided asking tour from here.
Evan Futch
Marijuana is legal in Massachusetts, and in Boston you will smell it everywhere. Boston Common smells like pot. The park is under maintained or at least the day I was there. Tour blogs makes this the trend, but I was not crazy about it.
Janet W. Southall
Beautiful! The trees are turned but it has been unseasonably warm so the flowers are still blooming.
Also :Every baby in the city is here!
Spartan Warrior!!
It's Always well taken care of the flowers 🌷🌹and there is beautiful Trees 🎄🌴 as well as nice walking paths and statues and history definitely I must see if visiting Boston and if you're from Boston and you never spent the day at the Boston common public gardens then you really are not enjoying life get out and go enjoy the day and learn about your city plenty to see!!!
rajesh sharma
Best place in downtown Boston for any kind of hangout or a walk or jog or exercise or fun afternoon or evening. Plenty of food and shopping places around. Historic freedom trail starts here. Farmers market and other places are also around. Guided tours available nearby.

Spent the day in the park in the snow. Great area, beautiful park. Outdoor ice skating rink rink. Went in gift / info shop to buy hats & scarfs & staff was so friendly & helpful.
Vangel Viajera TJ
This place it's my second one favorite in Boston, beautiful nature, beautiful spot to see Boston, beautiful sunsets, nice for a walk, very old and historical site, very nice place for a walk, to walk your dog, etcetera, etcetera.
Karla Fonseca
Beautiful park. We were there over memorial weekend and they set up a lovely memorial for all the fallen soldiers. Nice, family friendly place.
Ana Rivas
Definitely a lovely place to take a walk and enjoy nature in the heart of the city. Very clean and safe.
megan grabowski
Visiting from out of town. Watching Independence Day fireworks from the park steps.
It was pretty cool. Very civil spectators, not too rowdy. Perhaps it's the 60 degree temps & rain keeping people home. I expected it to be a lot more crowded.
Rod Perron
Beautiful spot, loved the park. People very friendly and wicked scenery. Paid for the freedom trail and it was well worth it, my wife and kid's (16 & 14) really enjoyed it. It was my second time with a different colonial tour guide. Awesome historical experience!
johnny matthews
Beautiful gardens. The common is a vast open space perfect for picnics, relaxing etc...Well kept and tidy and accessible from Park St subway
Winnie Hsu
Absolute beautiful. Boston Common reminded me of my days in Europe. Such a cozy and relaxing vibe there. Also, it was fall when I went there, so you could see falling leaves everywhere and it was extremely breathtaking. I felt like I was in a fairy tale story or something. Sadly I was only a Boston for 5 days, I know that if I get to stay there for longer, or live in Boston, it will be one of the most visited places of mine. I see people just seating in the glass and chatting with each other by the lake. I don’t know if it’s always like that, but I saw so many squirrels in Boston common as well, so adorable! Also, there were a lot of musicians inside the park, I think I saw at least five of them during my short walk inside the park. I think it was a good walk from Quincy market-> downtown crossing -> Boston common and go check the freedom trail brick-> newbury street. Took me for about 30-40 minutes but I got see a lot of the city by waking:)
Will Vesey
A beautiful green park in the center of the city. Plenty of food stands and historical artifacts. There is a play area for children, and benches everywhere.
Ashan Goonetilleke
I love this park and the adjoining public gardens. Great place to walk and clear the head and the starting point of the freedom trail.
Tonya Snow
Loved It. Such great history in Boston. Beautiful weather. The Frog Pond was huge.
Amazing day to sightsee.
Christina El Khoury
We went to visit on the first week of November. It was an absolute beauty! The colors of fall are the best I have ever seen.
Joanne Maedl
An amazing place filled with history. So much to see and do. There’s often activities and events, it’s a great place to run or walk, with or without your dog. A nice cut through in the city.
Tang Jenny
Gorgeous with fall colors
Suellen Heidorn
This is a huge park, you can just go for a walk, you can take your dog to play with it or just go to relax. During the summer picnics are very popular here, during fall the trees look so beautiful, it's almost like if you're in a movie, is just amazingly beautiful!
Joanne F
This is a great spot to people watch. Also The Freedom Trail starts here. Give yourself a couple of hours and put you sturdy walking shoes on, you won't regret it.
Soohong Min
I was here for tennis playing. 2 hard courts well maintained are available. 2 hour meter parkings are around the public garden on the Bolyston and Charles st.
Curtis Carpenter
We started our walk along the freedom trail at Boston Common. This worked out great with the access to public bathrooms and helpful people to point out the way. The playground was a great way for the kids to get out their wiggles before lots of history learning on the Freedom trail.
Dana K.
A big park in the middle of the city with many old and big trees. Everywhere are places to sit down and rest and to look at the squirrels.
And - of course - it is the starting point of the Freedom Trail.
Eddie Chamberlain
Beautiful, spacious, and clean. Lots of room to roam around here, and two equally convenient subway stops to bring you to either end of the two halves of the park. We came for the ducklings and the swan boats.
Jon W
As much as I wanted to and tried I couldn’t manage to get to Boston Common in the day time. First stroll through was around midnight on a Saturday and my second was just after dusk on a Monday. It was still beautiful and I felt safe the entire time. There were plenty of people walking around, jogging, walking dogs, riding bikes, and so on; along with groups of younger folks hanging out near the statues, no one bothered me (walking alone at night in some city parks it might be an issue and your mileage may vary here). Seeing the city at night from the park was great and being in the big park, with some peacefulness while hearing the hustle and bustle of a busy city in the distance had a draw to it as well. Very nice park and I want to get back and see it in the day time.
BradJill
Boston Common is a 50 acre city park that makes for a nice place to visit for those seeking open and leisure places in Boston. In addition to a pavilion, fountain, monuments, pond, kiosk and visitor centre, there is plenty of green space to be enjoyed here.
Opening in 1634, this is the oldest public park in America. It is also the starting point for Boston's Freedom Trail, which takes visitors to many of the city's most important historical attractions and helps visitors build up a better understanding of early American history, particularly the events which led up to the American Revolution.
Tip: We visited the Boston Common during mid-Autumn and greatly enjoyed seeing some of the trees beginning to change colours. A few bright yellows and reds made for lovely viewing. I imagine the park will be even better in early November once the rest of the leaves begin to turn.
Tip: Located just west of the Boston Common, past Charles Street, is the Boston Public Garden, which is equally enjoyable to visit. This is another well landscaped area with more monuments, lovely trees and plenty of park benches for visitors to find and have a rest.
For those who visit Boston and enjoy seeing city parks, it is well worth planning a bit of time here at Boston Common. For convenient stops, it makes sense to spend time here at the beginning or the end of your Freedom Trail tour depending on which direction you are going on the trail.
Katie Quintero
Lovely garden, great place to walk!
Daniel
Great view of the city and a nice park to take a stroll
MG Carvalho
You will love this place, fun for your Kids, Family, Friends or girlfriend. Maybe just you for some quality time alone! Enjoy the pictures.
Albert Lee
Great place to take the family for delicious lunch.
Erik Jackson
Awesome live shows this weekend. We felt safe there. The only thing we wished was that there was some sort of public restroom available.
Joe Strassler
A beautiful park, easy to get to - right off the Park Street stop on the T (subway) stop. Surrounded by weeping willow trees, a perfect place to relax after spending a day in Boston.
In the summer time, take a ride on the swan boats, and kids can play in a great playground or in the fountains of the Frog Pond.
In the cooler months, ice skating is offed at the Frog Pond- with very cheap ice skate rentals.
Mauricio T
The Oasis Right in the center of the city is an excellent park where there are many options of bars and restaurants to enjoy if you travel and spend a nice afternoon in Boston, it is a place you can not miss this great park cultural.
Mauricio Pretto
Such a beautiful park , spring time and summer make Boston Common come alive .
Flowers, happy people, picnics
Camilo Zapata
It's a good place to visit (I was there near spring ending) and the freedom trail starts there. Also, it has historical points (places) and public restrooms.
G Aquino
It looks just like any urban park until you learn about its long and colorful history and its distinction as the oldest park in the US. It suddenly feels different and you begin to imagine what it was like to be here almost four centuries ago, before the US even existed as a country.
I couldn't agree more with the suggestion of starting a walking tour of the city here. You can join a Freedom Trail tour but if you prefer a self-guided tour, grab some brochures from the Visitor Center.
Nabil Bouresly
This park is located in the heart of Boston and close to many important places, commercial and historical in the city as well as the beauty of gardens, trees and lake in it
Evelyn Laitz
It's a must-to-see in Boston, the best place to to rest and watch people. The spring is my favorite season because the tulips are blooming!
Sarah W
Beautiful walk. Even in the rain and cold. My son and I went to check out the flags for our fallen soldiers this Memorial Weekend.
J Seng
Very nice park with lots of squirrels. I enjoy the morning stroll here very much. There are also some nice restaurants and cafes surrounding the park so you can have a nice meal or coffee after a walk in the park. You can reach the park easily using metro. Good to visit if you are in Boston.
Matthew Penta
One of the most beautiful places in Boston. Great for picnics and walks in the spring and summer. The swan boats are great for kids as well. Very lucky to have this kind of greenery in such a dense city. A must see for anyone that lives in the city and wants to feel grass in the middle of Boston
Aspen Fisher
Wonderful green space in the city. Beautiful statues and history. I would absolutely recommend!
ido keren
It's always fun to walk around the park. Clean organized and lovely.
David Macdonald
Nice open area in the middle of the big and busy city. Great for relaxing, people watching or taking a load off your feet for a few minutes after walking around the city. Feels safe and clean.
Dan Daugherty
Beautiful park. Well designed, paved pathways, nice people walking around, excellent vibes.
Ti Tan
As others have noted in the past, NY's Central Park is world renowned but Boston Common and the nearby public garden are more beautiful and less crowded. Ducks, squirrels and sparrows are everywhere. If you have children, bring them to the Tad Pole playground. There's also a wading pool and fountain ideal for children in the summer.
Lena Owens
Good place to walk a especially for tourists - but I prefer less busy places like the greenway and the fens or the arboretum.
