Reviews of Barber Park
Sue Connelly
Barber Park is a great place for people to go rafting, paddle boarding, and other various water sports. It opened for wrapping up to June 27th this year (2022) - The water was literally ice cold when we were there in mid July.
There were no places that I saw for picnicking but there is a walkway alongside the river and some restaurants.
Monkage
Lovely and green. A nice little spot to have a family get together or picnic. Part of the Greenbelt runs through here and is easy to access.
Joejoe
First time here. Rented a raft at Boise tube and raft Co. and floated the Boise river for the first time. We had a great time.
Scott Madding
Very nice park! Wife and I visiting our daughter and son in law. We have NOTHING like this in Arkansas. We have trails and mountains in the north western part of the state but nothing like this! And it’s just a 5 min drive from their home in Harris Ranch 😃 beautiful park, beautiful city, beautiful state!!!! …
Dan Chadwick
Covid has really brought everyone outdoors. Not that I can or should complain about that. But we make this a usual yearly trip when we go see family in Boise. We haven't usually had to pay for parking, but when capacity is as high as it was this year, I get why they enforced it. As for the park, not much to do there except for preparing rafts, boards and tubes for launch. The river is always beautiful and very memorable. Rapids on river are enjoyable enough for adults but definitely calm enough for babies and up (on larger and more stable vessels). Amazing bike path along this river and fun bridge jumping available too. This is a definite go to for my wife and kids each year.
Jaclyn Michelle
Nice trail along the river. I picked blackberries along the way and watched rafters in the river. Very scenic and peaceful.
Victor Moxley
Long lines to rent anything, whether you go in the weekend or on a weekday. They took away the public air compressors to fill up your own tube. Still fun starting point to raft the river, but best ti come prepared with all of your own equipment as you can’t count on any there.
Blake Hall
Nice park with awesome access to the river. Nice stairs to get into the river. I'd love to float it again to Ann Morrison. Very kid friendly of river.
A D
Great time floating the river, there are a few areas that the river brings you to the edges of the river where the trees and shrubs are, but paddle strong and you'll keep from getting ran into them. So much fun!! Lots to do at the park, kids areas, green spaces, and lots of grass, picnic tables, benches and shade trees
Erin McKenna
We love Barber. It's our starting point for all our advetures! Walks, bike rides, floating, playing at the park, and just exploring and enjoying nature!
Eric Jones
Very nice park with sand volleyball, play spaces for older kids and younger kids alike. Water park option, ice cream stand and plenty of green space. Parking was very adequate as well. Very clean and well maintained.
Vicky Leong
Great trails for a walk in nature. You can get to little beach areas on the Boise River and fish or hang out. Swift current when I was there so I wouldn't swim. Barber Park has a river rafting/tubing company. Restrooms.
Ash Grigsby
I was able to find nooks along the river that were private and secluded, despite the park being packed with folks. Lots of beautifully mature trees, diving ducks, and fisherman on the east side provided a wonderful backdrop for the day. Very clear water that you can wade across, but there is a swift current here. Great just for a picnic. Lots of dogs. A great mix of sun and shade, so that you can cool down a bit when necessary.
Chris Williams
Wonderful park. Dropping someone off there is difficult. Lots of people, parking attendants tell you to keep moving even tho your door is open and someone is getting in or out of the vehicle.
Ashley V.
Went there for family pictures. Lots of scenery to use, we walked through the woods to the river, then back. Just be careful if you're walking off the main path... Lots of places to trip 😅 …
David G
Worked very well for us. We did a wedding on a Sunday afternoon in June. The staff was pretty organized and had the tables and chairs set up inside (reception area). We had to set the chairs up outside (wedding area). It has pleasant surroundings outside, and the overhang helped create much needed shade.
The girls did lots of decorations and made the place look pretty nice. The staff was pretty helpful, friendly,, and got us the stuff we needed.
The kitchen area is pretty roomy, as is the grand hallway.
The sound system is a little funky, so make sure your DJ is capable if you have special audio needs like we did.
There is an area for dancing, but it's not a true dance floor (varied textures of flooring). But again, it worked okay.
I would recommend for small to average size weddings (100), not much larger.
All in all, a solid place to have a celebration!
Tuimaunei Kahoiwai
Nice little walk to find a little fishing spot and the kids got to play in the water for a little bit although the water was freezing of course 😂 we had fun! …
Michele Schuler
We love this park! :-) such a wonderful place to take our dogs :-)
John Larrick
Nice trails that run along the river. Dog likes to explore on them, even though leash required. As busy as Amity/Eckert is now, ingress and egress to the park is getting dicey, and should be improved at some point.
David Dickman
Beautiful park and the value is in the event center. Ran by the city, the Barber Park event center is the best value event space in the Treasure Valley. Complete with quality audio/visual tech, this event center is ready for any event. After checking pricing, you’ll end up saving at least 25% on venue costs compared to budget venues, +50% savings compared to others with as beautiful setting as this.
Sure, there are some stipulations in using this event space, but every venue has that.
As for the park, gorgeous. Wildlife everywhere, it’s the spot to start floating the river and a great day-use Park.
Sabrina Russo
A very nice river to float down. Very fun and could be relaxing as well.
Chris Wood
Idaho Site Works and I upgraded the park almost done. I hope everyone enjoys the park and the float season.
siri adeline
The water was literally ice cold when we were there in mid July.
There were no places that I saw for picnicking but there is a walkway alongside the river and some restaurants.
Byounghee Lee
Costs parking but best place for water rafting!
Kevin Wade
First snow day of the 20-21 season. Great trails to view the Boise river
David Dornbusch
Great green space with room for dogs and walkers plus the Boise River has tons of fish too.
James Derderian
This Park has so many options to make it a great place suited for all ages and interests.
Nick Figura
Beautiful park along the boise green belt. This park has easy access to the green belt and the river. It also has a nature preserve that is fun to walk around it. The paths start out as concrete and turn to dirt. There is all sorts of wildlife roaming around as well.
Barber Park is also where river floaters put in their boats. So depending on the temperature and time of year expect a busy parking lot.
Kyle C (KC)
By far this is one of my favorite places to be in the treasure valley.
Michael Morrison
Friendly Staff, good scenery, fun rope swing. However some people bring speakers in the raft and play music that is not friendly family. Along with teenagers sharing weed with younger underage kids. One more thing that's a bit annoying is they don't have there public air stations anymore which was clearly done to try to stop people from bringing there own rafts. This is a little shady as it is 7$ to park in there lots.
Drew Lynes
It costs $5 to enter this park with a vehicle. If you are going to float the river, park for free at Ann Morrison and take the shuttle here for $2 instead.
Joshua Hill
Beautiful park with a really nice walking path next to the river.
Tim Curtis
Enjoyed the kayaking a lot. The views were very cool. Rapids were just right for beginners. It'll cost you $7 for parking. Great signage to let you know when to exit and our return driver was funny. If you get the chance wether it's tubbing or kayaking go for it, you'll have a ball!
Jimmy Glass
Beautiful Park. Ample parking. Nice private areas to enjoy nature.
Susan H
Great for playing football with the boys in the neighborhood, weddings, bicycle rides along the greenbelt, river floats and birdwatching. Nice and informative staff, too.
Gilbert Valentin
Wonderful river float. Didn’t appreciate the manager telling us we should just get a refund for our raft. We were waiting for our son and his wife to show up. They were running late from work and it was getting close to 6pm. She said the trip takes 2 hours and that the last shuttle leaves at 8pm at the bottom so that’s why we should get a refund. We said we are ok with the overnight fee. To which she said, “But that’s what we want to avoid.” We thanked her for her concern (genuinely). In the end we made it down the river with 10 minutes to spare even after we beached it about a quarter mile down the trip to wait. 🤷🏽♂️
Eric Skiles
Nice dog park. Play equipment is in good shape.
Will Steele
Great place to go and float the river. They have more than plenty air hoses to fill up your tubes before putting them into the water, making it really easy to bring your float empty and fill it there. But they also have an area to where you could rent a float for the trip down to the bottom where they pick it up and return it back for you.
Wanda Graham
We all enjoy the river and was able to walk my dog and always cleaned up after my dog. If more people will clean up after their dogs, than the park will allowed pets so we can enjoy our dogs to be with us. 🙂😎 …
Amy Smith
Creating unforgettable memories with friends and family that'll last a lifetime!
Brian Himes
Lovely park on the river with lots a of walking paths and little beaches.
No Name
Beautiful green space for walking alone or with dogs (plenty of friendly dog walkers around.) The kids play area is tiny, not fun for more than a few minutes. Picnic tables abound, great for family events. If you're there in the right season, rent a float and raft the river!
Johanna Huber
Beautiful Park - perfect for picnic or to launch for floating the Boise River. $7 parking fee. Boise river & rafting rentals will get you all hooked up for a great adventure on the river - enjoy
Keith Breon
Great spot to put in to float the boise river. $7 to park here. There's a free drop off area, also a bus runs in summer for a couple bucks from Ann Morrison park.
Tom Brooks (The Audition Master)
Beautiful, amazing. Terrific outfit, nice people. A clean place.
Karen Blakely
My dog loves this park, very well maintained
Christine Baron
So much fun floating the river! Bring a dry bag. You can bring your own or rent tubes. Purchase a shuttle bus ticket to get back to your car when you get done.
Michael Patience
Didn't spend a lot of time here because this was the starting point of our tubing adventure on the Boise river. There is plenty of parking which, I believe, was about $6. There are plenty of air stations to fill your inflatables. There was really no line to launch, but there was a decent sized line at the rental place. There is also a nice, separate, area for wedding receptions, gatherings, and such.
Issa Maalouf
A very nice park where you can walk on a natural trail! It is quiet, beautiful and highly recommended!
Amy Marie
I had my wedding here over the weekend in the off-season. It was so beautiful. With a lot of windows, I didn't have to decorate as much as I would with any other venue. With the park's natural beauty surrounding the event center, it took us out of Boise for a day. I highly recommend this place for weddings!
Brittany G
It was beautiful when we went to float on the 4th of July. If you are going on the river I do recommend bringing a paddle. Also parking is $7 cash or card is accepted.
Myriame Fisse
So clean we found it easy to park because we left early in the morning we love floating the Boise River. We bought a cheap battery air pump it is nice filling up in the shade.
Britt
I hadn't been to Barber Park in over a decade and was decidedly impressed by what's been done. Raft rentals seemed to go pretty smoothly, despite the 'Rona. Really, my only complaint is that it costs $7 to park. Rented our raft and got out within 20 minutes, on a very busy Sunday.
Steven Warren
Good park to start tubing down in the summer. Has a dirt trail that connects to the greenbelt.
Vivek Raj Battu
This park has a nice trail beside Boise river
Sterling Wood
If you are FLOATING THE BOISE RIVER this is the spot to launch your rafts. There are air hoses conveniently located by the launch spot and there is an outfitter with raft/tube rentals available as well. A snack shack with drinks, shaved ice and food is usually open during daylight ours as well. There is also a series of trails, both paved (bicycles, strollers) and dirt for exploring the park. I found a beautiful dock to view the river and watch the floaters coming down. I will be bringing family and friends to this spot and floating the river as well!
Gary Tang
Floating, fishing, owl watching. Super awesome park.
Jen T
Nice park, but you have to pay to park there or drop off people and leave. It's got a nice trail that is accessible from other parks that you can park at for free.
S G
Son's wedding just recently held there. Very nice venue and park. Great photos of the newlyweds. Plenty of space for our group of about 80-90 ppl. Thumbs up!
Drew Paveza
Barber Park is where you can go to have a relaxing ride on the Boise River!
Justin Albright
It was my first time to go here, I gotta say that it is very beautiful and peaceful. There's miles of paved and unpaved trail's that follow as well as run right up to the river. I'm from So. Cali and it honestly brought me right back to the Creek right behind my house there. Plus this park "Is Dog Friendly".
Madi Farris
Ruben the bus driver was OUR SAVIOR. We had a friend in our group lose her phone and have to get back to Ann Morrison and he made sure we got back up to Barber Park easily. His helpful attitude was such a blessing on a such a crazy morning. WE LOVE RUBEN
Mercy Hasselblad
I photograph weddings and had one at the Barber Park event center. It was beautiful!
Trina Michaelis
Nice area in the fall for a walk and picnic.
Craig Wilson
This was our first time to the park. Our reason for being here was to float down the Boise River. Upon arrival we had to pay $6 for parking and were conveniently directed around the lot to a spot. It was a Sunday and this place was teaming with people. My best guess would be a mid-week trip would include a lot less people. That being said we walked right up to the equipment rental window, filled out a release of liability form, paid the fee and waited about 5 min for our tubes and off we went. The wait time for large dingy's was an hour. The water was refreshing, the entry point was clear and easily accessible and everyone around was in great spirits and friendly. So here are some tips for first timers. If you can purchase a heavy duty tube with handles for cheap do it. DO NOT BRING A CHEAP POOL TOY! The tubes they provide for $12 rental fee are very nice. There is no place to put anything safely so DO NOT bring anything and leave it. Bring a good zip lock bag so u can put a car key, credit card, DL & a few bucks. They will sell u a water proof bag (glorified zip lock for $5) which I bought and put it in my pocket. Leave everything in the car, that includes flip flops, t-shirts, shoes, etc. You want to float without being bothered by something u have to carry. I would recommend a water proof speaker cuz those that had them were loving life. It took us 2hrs without stopping but there are plenty of places to stop along the way and hang out. Floating cooler is a sweet deal for a group. This is beginner floating nothing difficult. You can use kayaks, inflatable canoes, dingy of any size, etc. There is a bus that takes you back for $3 (cash) per person. This was an absolute blast. Highly recommend it for kids of any age. Law says no alcohol (I saw lots of it) and life vests for kids under 12 (not sure of age).
Ola L
Awesome place to drop in for a nice float.
Sadly, the traffic/parking situation can get out of hand, but not bad enough to lose a star.
Magical memories have been made here!
Nils Monserud
Beautiful park. The rafting down Boise river if your here in the summer is a can't miss.
Rich Shelvock
Everything you need to float the Boise River is here. Rafts, tubes, paddleboards are all available to rent. Free air to inflate your own toys. Plenty of parking and a shuttle from the takeout to get back to Barber Park.
David Rutledge
Park was clean. Signage was clear and understandable and the staff was very nice and professional. Floating the Boise River was awesome!
Steven Snyder
Crowded in the heat, the Idaho Parks Pass dosen't cover parking here.
Derick Richter
Gorgeous park, drop off point for rafting the river, place to rent rafts, tubes, and life jackets, and a great connection to the Boise Greenbelt system. Beautiful place!
Casey
Had a blast kayaking down the noise river. Barber park provides a great jumping in point. They have air hoses for public use as well as rentals available. I hope everyone gets the chance to float the lazy boise river and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Or watch Netflix on your phone like the one guy did
Colleen Santos
Such a beautiful park and several trails to adventure walking next to the water
Caitlin Wilhelm
Great place to park for floating the Boise River. It can get pretty busy, especially on weekends in the summer.
Brian 88
This is where you put in if you want to float the bosie river. They have plenty of air station to fill whatever you want to float on. You can also rent or buy tubes or rent rafts to float the river. A credit card is required for raft rentals. They have a small refreshment stand to purchase a variety of snacks and drinks. At the time of our visit frozen bottled water was $2 so not cheap but definitely could be worse. Parking is $6 and equipment (raft and tube) rental and purchase prices can be found on their website.
Theresa Morgan
Amazing location for an all staff event! Would be great for a wedding reception. Only complaint, they have no serving equipment to use so bring your own (or maybe if you pay for, you'll get it).
Jeff Levy
We came here to float the Boise river. Parking was a shambles, but we finally found a spot. The tire-killer spikes are completely unnecessary.
Once we parked, we hauled our floats to the free air filling stations. We were lucky enough to get in the line behind people who were filling up their zeppelins. Seriously, Chad, I know you want to impress Karen with the size of your float, but for the love of god, buy your own pump, and fill that 1,000ft.sq rubberized pleasure palace elsewhere. I nearly passed out waiting to fill our reasonably sized Intex.
The snack shack offers a quality fare for a fair price. If Karen pops your float with her gaudy jewelry, fear not. You can buy patch kits for five bucks.
Air fill stations could use some shade.
Natalie Smith
So fun to float down the river! So glad we did it! It's a 6 mile float and takes about 2-3 hours, depending on if you stop to play in the water.
Bowfinger6383 3rd time
Boise river floating is the best way to cool down on a hot summer day. $5 to park all day, and $3 to take the bus back, bring a air pump that runs from your cars battery and save the hassle of waiting in line for air. No matter what you float on, always have a paddle, or you could end up the proverbial creek. Sunscreen and drinking water recommended as well as a short ( 6' to 10') length of good rope to have in case someone should fall overboard. Several places to pull off and have a lunch, or stack rocks, PFD's for children and dogs(if you bring fido). No glass containers or alcohol allowed and while the Boise river looks lazy and slow, remember, it's a river and it will eat you if you're not respectful and aware of the danger it poses. Have fun, but stay safe.
Bagel Tiger
Oh its summertime, and the livin's easy. People in droves floating the river, some polite, some rowdy, and some downright destructive. It's a fun relaxing ride, please be mindful and apply the campfire rule, pick up what you can find and dispose properly. Thank you.
Sarah Rahto
Such a neat spot by the river
Jose DeSousa
Another place in Boise Idaho to take family and friends to go float on the Boise River. It is about 2.5 hour float trip down on the river. Ps; not enough parking, so just take the city park bus up, then float down to where you parked your vehicle.
Santa Christopher
Floated down the Boise River had a great time with the family
Michael Savage
Nice park to walk around. You can walk by river in some areas. We watched some people go in rafts down the river.
Stephanie Gump
Must be popular because there seemed to be a wedding party going on plus another party. Pretty clear area. River is cold so be prepared.
Troy Stone
Only 1 thing off. We went back to get vehicle dropped off earlier. They were closing entrance at 7:30. I thought they closed at dark. Every accommodation you need for floating the river is there. Loved it.
Charlene Hansen
Nice park with access to the river.
A bit of construction going on there right now. They have a reception building/area that is not widely advertised.
Paul Wilmot
Float the Boise river from here. Its a great way to relax for 2 hours.
Darryl High
It's a gorgeous and scenic Park tucked away on the back end of Boise foothills
Beautiful trails and plenty of sportsman's access. To the Boise river
Timothy Redden
Was fun, but got expensive as some of the low branches ripped glasses of my wife's face and were lost to the river, could have been a lot worse, but overall had a good time going down river.
Maxwell Russell
A beautiful park, well maintained and an asset to the community.
Tyler Hale
The flow of traffic is a little annoying on busy days, but floating the river is great. It's also nice that they provide air pumps for your tubes.
Breakthrough Dad
Rented a raft here and floated the river.
Lulu Ford
Great place to prepare for the river raft run. The bike security patrol are very nice and pleasant to talk with, and the bathrooms are very clean.
Open N Review
Amazing park for rafting on the boise river
Dale Rhoades
I love the park. I am very bothered that they have taken the raft airhoses out not everyone has a portable air pump
Brian Tracy
Great place begin a float on the Boise River. Take out about 2.5 hours later at Ann Morrison Park.
Donald Durham
Beautiful scenery, amazing amenities, im sure this place will be even more amazing once quarantine is over and people can enjoy the park to its fullest extent

Great park. Superb trails and a nice place to access the water. Very few visitors, the time I visited. Great for dogs. Leash required.
Jessica Thomsen
Has a great building for weddings. Also lots of paths to walk and explore. Also the place to start floating the river in the summer.

If I could I would give this park 10 stars. What other city park rents floats and provides a $3 shuttle back to your car?
Wandervans Chris
Wonderful park on the river with nice trails and lots of fishing spots. Come float season on the river it is a great place to launch with great staff.
Mark Raum
Easy access, great parking. A bit of a walk to the gravel/sand beaches that were not too populated.
Taylor Wisler
Beautiful park, but you have to pay for parking and during peak tubing season there isn't enough space.
Tony Allen
Really busy and it's $7 per car. They won't let you in when you come back to get your second car. Have to use the roundy round drop off.
Kim Nagy-James
Great place to take the dogs and even better, sit down and watch nature play!
Amy Mitchell
Beautiful place for a walk!

I have been floating the Boise River for 31 years. Very disappointed that the air pumps have been taken out. Please fight to get the air pump back in.
Tiffiny Tornabeni
VERY long wait to get a raft and to get the shuttle bus when you get off the river. My first 2 experiences were great, this last 1 was not very good
Tempest Balderzon
Beautiful area to walk during winter, plenty of little trails that all connect to the green belt. Wonderful place if you have a dog
Peter Hurtgen
The line went by quickly despite it being a long labor day line. The tubes came or quick! Easy parking and put in for floating.
Shane Baker
Great place for a nice quiet walk or to start a float down the river.
Scott Levesque
Place to drop in for floating. Air is currently turned off due to Covid 19. Poopy poopmouth. But yeah it's alright grassy park.
Desiree Hays
Fun place to start our annual river float. Price is fair and staff is prompt, knowledgeable, and friendly.
B Williams (Mekong68)
Excellent park to walk next to the river, launch your raft in the summer, have a cookout or hold an event.

Great park to be close to the river and nature. Will be very busy in the summer river float season

Cool park, lots of soccer fields, must have been 600 people there. Has a fish pond too.
Barbara Gist
Water trees and beauty!

Barber park is a good clean but busy area where you launch boats to float the Boise River

The gravel trail from Park Center Business Park all the way to Barber Park is no bikes and full of wildlife. Great place to walk.
Shalene Pastere
Its a great park but it is always really crowded and there isn't much to do there but float the river

M Johanna Castleton
Have used this location a few time for photography sessions. Love the beach access and water areas.
Suzanne Shelvock
Much better than last year as far as lines for boats and such. However, they need more air lines for filling.

Great venue for a wedding. Enjoyed our time. The place was clean and fun was had by all
