Fun park with lots of sights to take in and things to do! The trail is a nearly perfect .75 so two laps makes a great 1.5 mile loop around the outside. Loved working with the staff when we hosted a race here. You get the beauty of a park with the metro surroundings! Cool setup, if you’re in the area - check it out!

I love visiting this park. I just went for a walk after work today with a friend and we saw multiple photographers taking advantage of the golden hour. So many dogs running around and playing! There was also a small workout class going on that the park hosts. Such a beautiful asset to Birmingham!

It was a magnificent experience with my girlfriends yesterday at Railroad Park! The Rotary Trail was a joy and was safe and beautiful to see with plenty of bikers and walkers to boot. Love love love the atmosphere here and the beautiful lofts and businesses nearby are a huge plus all in walking distance ❤️

You'll enjoy the art work highlighting the timeline of the city's history and prominent figures at the main entrance. This park is so beautiful! This is my go to for a nice walk. They have nice ponds with beautiful fish, turtles and ducks! It's a great place to take pictures because of the nice scenery. There's places for skating and picnics. They have the best events here as well.

Amazing! When I'm in Birmingham, Alabama I love to visit this park. It's pretty big. There is a lot of scenery to look at. At night, they have beautiful lights that come on and light the walkway. The kids always have a great time playing on the play ground. We can not wait to come and visit next time we are in the area.

Visited this park from out of town. Beautifully landscaped green space. The play structures are a bit small for older kids, but great for wee ones. My kids enjoyed the experience of seeing the trains go by. I loved that the park was designed so that you can see the trains from a safe location. Many lovely water features as well. We saw some ducks and turtles.

Absolutely loved my walk around the path. So much scenery, very very well kept up and maintained to such a high standard. Everything was so serene and beautiful! Perhaps my last visit was a much needed escape, having me time.. meditation. As do they have venues and concerts at this location. I had an awesome time and no hassles start to finish. From parking, feeling safe, to just enjoying myself - thus getting to focus on different aspects of detail with my time there!

Came here with a few classmates last semester. It’s a very nice park in a bustling part of Downtown Birmingham. We had a great time and wish we could have stayed longer. A lot of couples looking for photos come here. We had one guy walk up to us and ask us to take a photo of him and his fiancé. Who knows, maybe I’ll be asking someone to do the same thing one day!

We took a little trip downtown to the winter wonderland thing this year. I had been to he park several times over the years and it is always pretty sedating. This was a new experience though as there were screaming children and nervous adults as kids took turns face planting into the ice. Surprisingly they kept all of their teeth and continued to limp around aimlessly. My hethens seemed to do very well for their first time and only dove butt first into the ice. We made good memories on this trip. Five stars.

First time visiting. Awesome place to just be outdoors. Great scenery. There's small creek ponds with coy fish and ducks. The grass is so soft. There's plenty of shade under trees. We stayed until night fall and there's rainbow colored lights in various places. That was a great experience for my young children. People with dogs had them under control and behaved. It was truly a mixture of birmingham neighbors. Nice park.

Great park for just enjoying a beautiful day, but a wonderful walking track with a soft material that makes walking easier. The area has dramatically changed here, in large part thanks to this lovely park. In addition to people watching, you can see some good birds here--from Peregrine Falcons snacking on pigeons to Yellow-crowned Night Herons, Chimney Swifts and swallows soaring overhead and ducks in the ponds, this is a great place to enjoy Birmingham's revitalization.

Situated almost in the center of downtown and several nearby venues, this park is like a heartbeat to Birmingham. Whether early in the waking hours to late after the sunset you'll catch people walking/jogging, biking, skating/boarding, taking their pets for a stroll, exercising, or just meeting to conversate. It's a hub for people to gather and enjoy the city. There are also daily exercise classes offered around 6pm from yoga to jazzercise (schedules found online). Plenty of parking up and down the street but can get full with events going on or on weekends.

5 years going and this is still my favorite spot in the city. I find myself mainly going in the winter for some reason or another & then there’s also Covid. The various trail patterns, corners of the park & slight inclines are also great for varied circuit workouts. Here’s my favorite shot from Christmas time. Great place! I can't wait to experience the ice skating rink tonight. There was great music and nice pathways. The koi pond and ducks were fun to watch too. The waterfall is the perfect background for a photo. I love that in a big city there are still nice places to have a picnic lunch. The only negative things were: a car was broken into while we were there and there were small rats running around in the bushes.

I have about a hundred Railroad Park photos on google! Excellent place for family or time for solitude . Exercise trails are superb as is the surrounding atmosphere. Snacks are drinks available if you get thirsty. I believe there’s free jazzercise type of exercise open to anyone on?Monday evenings.

I had a great time here with my friends!! Although it was unsufferably hot outside, there's was 2 different playgrounds and lots of walking space, there was also access to bathrooms, and seating to relax and feed any wandering birds pieces of your bread.

A wonderful place to walk and gathering the green field is well-trimmed but lakes need a lot of work to maintain water life. The look to the field next to the Park amazing especially when they run for work during the weekends and the game time. Different things like workout activity can be done here, the train gives you the feeling of old days and the artwork give you another look at Birmingham downtown. A possibility of renting an electrical scooter around the park, the last thing is the availability of security makes this place a destination for a lot of people where they seek safe outdoor places. Wide open spaces which promoted social distancing. Various attractions to fit individual needs such as a workout area, a big grassy area for picnics, try outs, for dogs to play and photography. Also good for a brisk walk and or sprint around the park as well as interacting with the ducks in the pond. If you just want to sit outside near water and eat then this park is it with it's available table sets and near by bathroom

Beautiful park with a variety to do and see. You can grab a Zyp bike and ride along the path, work on your summer body in the fitness area, watch the sunset, or perfect your skateboarding skills in the skate park. It was a truly relaxing stroll and wonderful end to a day of exploration in Birmingham.

Oh my goodness gracious. Yet another amazing Birmingham Park. Beautiful. They have bathrooms, sometimes they serve alcohol they have places to sit, places to lay down a beautiful hill to watch the sunset. A little bit over designed. They also have security all the time places for people to play, rock to rock climb, they have a playground. They have a skateboarding Park bull. They have a Tire running track. This is a very laid back park to visit. Very active and worth a visit during the day. If you know Birmingham, then I'd recommend going with a friend. I've visited several times playing Pokemon Go or just enjoying the outdoors and its been great every time.

Favorite park in the city for long dog walks! There are a few trails that intertwine with each other so you can meander about. There is exercise equipment and a few play areas intermittently and signs with exercise ideas and lots of little seating areas around the lake. Tons of open green space and there is an area for skating. It's always clean and there is usually a park ranger type person walking around.

This is a beautiful free public space to enjoy relaxing, viewing gorgeous scenic city scape views, exercising. Also i sensed a safe overall public environment there. It was special to see the trains going back and forth. Oh, the park itself is uniquely beautiful, with ponds, running water brooks, wild grassy sections and open fields. There are places where skaters can challenge themselves and a padded walking path that encircles the perimeter.

First time going to railroad Park. IT was very entertaining. They had different groups out there talking to you about different things . And they had Logan the entertainer performing free concert. A wonderful place to go walking and finding vendors on the side if you get hungry. I really enjoyed it.

It is a really nice park, with nice walking and running trails. Places to do skating and skateboarding, but the parking is on the side of the street so it's challenging to get a spot. They have a lake with some koi fish and turtles in it. The railroad is next to it so you hear the trains going by. Overall, a good park to be in. Be sure to use navigation to direct you there since many streets in area are one way streets, and you don't want to go the wrong way down one of those.

This is an absolutely fantastic park. So thoughtfully laid out and we'll maintained. Three paths intertwine through the park. Options for walking, dog walking, running, and biking are available. A few elevated scenic view points provide great excuses to stop and catch your breath. Coffee shops and restaurants on the corner of the park are a plus. In the middle of the park you can find vending machines, water fountain, and restrooms. The water fountain and restrooms are currently closed due to Covid-19. This is the perfect place to walk your dog. Dog clean up stations are available around the park.

Fantastic, well maintained park in the middle of the city. Great place to exercise or just relax. Police presence both times I’ve gone just as a security, the park feels incredibly safe throughout. Places to eat and grab a drink around there plus free parking.

Only critique is that it would be an invaluable place to come at night if it were better lit. Birmingham needs a nighttime green space. It shouldn’t be uncomfortable to be outdoors in downtown Birmingham right after sunset. If you come here anytime after sunset, there’s no one here.

A very nice park, this park was filled with birds, pigeons, doves and other birds. They have fish also and nearby you can see a nearby train track so that the train can come by the park. Its pretty amazing that you have a chance to see a train near a park. You can see planes taking off or preparing for landing. This is best for viewing with binoculars and have a good view.

This is the spot to be early evening in Birmingham, even when the Barons aren't at Regions. The fitness installation at the East end is always clean and rarely crowded. The trails are plenty wide to jog among the strollers. Lots of grass area. The restrooms are clean and always stocked. Sit in the shade and people watch. Walk up to the higher spots and watch the sunset. There's a coffee shop and a brewery close by as well.

Great park smack dab in the middle of town. It's beautifully designed with a modern flare. The park is equipped with restrooms. I felt safe in the park. There's also security on site which added an extra layer of comfort. Highly recommend a visit

A very clean and ultra safe environment with 24/7 video, physical security and police presence. This park has it all. The park has beautiful views of the city skyline and is open until 11pm. There is no smoking.

Very good place for family and children. The park got a beautiful ponds with colorful fishes, turtle and ducks. Very spacious that any outdoor games can be played. It's good to go on weekend evening. There is a small swing and slides for toddlers. Teenagers may cycle rather randomly so please be careful about that. It's a good place...

Took me ages to get out here but I was really impressed. The atmosphere here is all energy and excitement. Great views of downtown as we walked through the paths. I only went for walking but they have bowls I guess for skateboarding and there were some exercise classes going on at the pavilion. Saw lots of kids playing at the playground!!

One of the nicest parks in the city. Great walking trails with varying walking surfaces. There are small vendors that pop up around the park year round along with some longstanding options (coffee, event space, baseball, food) that are within walking distance. Park stays open well into the night. When you first find it come during the day, but give it a go at least once at night. Great calming environment. I will continue to return to this place in a regular basis.

My very first visit here and I was so impressed with this park. There are different walking paths and each path has a different foundation. Please read all the green signs posted along the paths, they'll explain features that you may not have noticed at all. Great job on the landscaping as well. We were in a group of about 6 people and this guy walks up to our dogs and pets the same dog 4 different times without saying anything to us or giving us any space. One time he tried to pull an apple watch off of someone's wrist.

We were in town to run a Half Marathon that started and ended at the park. Such a nice green space in the city. There are several trails, benches and photo opportunities in this clean park. It has street parking, but it shouldn't be difficult to find a spot early on a Sunday morning, and there are pay lots not too far away. It's also walkable to another multi-use trail and eateries.

Best for Pokemon Go players! Perfectly safe to be there after dark and has tons of pokemon. Homeless not allowed. Open till 11pm. And they clean their restrooms about every half hour. Yes, they have restrooms, drinking water, tables and chairs, benches and plenty space to walk. Even a playground and an exercise corner. If you want to take a walk, there is the best in town after dark.

I love this place! There's something for everyone. Workout area, a creek, playground, a bowl for skating or bmx, plenty of grass for playing catch, soccer or whatever people do in the grass. Such a beautifully, well-kept park in the heart of downtown Birmingham. It offers a wonderful, paved walking/running trail that encircles lakes and greenery and leads to more trails down the road. The bathroom facilities are also nice and clean, and with offerings of free yoga under a covered awning area during the week to other events, this is a great gathering place. It's places like this that make a city livable and gave us such a great impression. I ran through Railroad park during my early morning run. Looked really nice, well groomed, interesting, seems quite new. Would be a nice place to walk or just hang out. Definitely a highlight in the Birmingham neighborhood.

There is always something to due at Railroad Park whether you are just out for a stroll or out with the children. Its something happening be it a concert, yoga, fundraiser, Symphony in the park life is buzzing here. People using it to take pictures of memories of shared love or just a place to sit and eat. I love this park I only wish they would open up more vendors on the other side of the railroad; the kind that sell different foods and novelty items then it would be truly a five star park.

The park looks like a great place to roller blade, walk or run. Already see some damage to the brick benches which are awesome! I was glad to see the green space was well maintained. As we walked through I couldn't help but think about what a pitcher of moss slime could design on the brick benches. There is nothing like lying down on a moss bed that is an inch thick.

Great park in downtown Birmingham, it's almost like Birmingham's very own minuscule central park (in a way). All sorts of different people frequent the park from younger generations to older, hip people to athletic people on a run to locals walking their dogs. Great spot in Birmingham to see and meet all the different types of people who make up Birmingham's population. Has several different trails to walk around as well as a central covered area for people to sit down and get out of the sun or rain and enjoy a picnic, but also plenty of grassy areas around the lake to sitdown and have a picnic as well. The city has done a tremendous job revitalizing this section of downtown.

Being in downtown, the park brings in every people from around town especially when an event is going on. Parking can be challenging, but at least it's free. The layout is really nice, segmented into areas that would suit different activities. The meager trail around the park makes for a good walk after lunch/dinner, slight elevations gives you a glimpse of the cityscape.

Nice park over all! My husband and I enjoy going here on the 4th of July to see the fireworks. The park has public restrooms, eating area, snack stand, and across from Regions Field where the Barons play baseball. Only problem I have is parking because spaces tend to fill up quick at this park.

Very hard place to find via GPS. When using my GPS via Google it placed me 3 blocks off from the actual park. I had to ask locals for directions. I will be editing the GPS coordinates if I can to try and help others. All in all, excellent location for a picnic, taking photos (which is why I was there) or having a get together. On busy days parking is hectic, if it's a local event going on expect parking to be insane. I enjoyed my time here.

Seems to be a heavy police presence. Nice place to go in the afternoon. People ride bikes and skateboard in the area. Nice to see fun activities in the city. Occasionally has events there like the Darter Festival, etc. Definitely recommend.

If you live on Parkside of town, you are already aware of the "Gem" of a place we all share. Railroad Park. Shared by the many residents in the area, photography of couples is popular. So is walking, and bike riding, skateboarding, running, picnicking, train watching, playing catch, or a little game of touch football. I could go on, but you really need to see it to appreciate it. A GREAT green space in the middle of an area of Birmingham which is growing in a good way.... A responsible way. If you are living in surrounding suburbs, try our space with a loved one. The only reason I gave a rating of 4 was because, in spite of Covid-19, there should be a way to incorporate a vendor or two.

Railroad park is a really cool place to walk or longboard it's very inviting during the day, but also has cool light effects at night. Unfortunately they do not let anyone in after dark and have guards scouting out the place for homeless people, so it is a lot less inviting at night to say the least.

First visit today, for the most part the park is clean. We did see several mice running in the grass by the concession during the day which was odd. The park was crowded so we had to park a block away and someone made an attempt to break in my huband's car. I would love to know what type of fish are in the pond. Nice park. Not very big, but it's got a nice walking path. There's also an open area for events. The park is well maint6 and you can get a nice view of the city from parts of it. Next to Regions Parl.

My only disappointment here are the restrooms are closed as the pandemic is high. I dont visit here a lot but ive been working out and my gf is helping me with this as i have back ingury problems. Im so glad they've started bzck trimming the grass and they have these cute sign that BCBS out out to encourage exercise!! We do them all and ima tell you ..you get a full workout. Instead of walkin around the park my 3 miles everytime Ill go across the street and walk around the Baseball field (Barons) to get the same result and its not as many ppl to avoid or run into..

Best park in the state of Albama! Safe n pet friendly! Miles and miles of walking space to enjoy. Food stations available. Can't say too much about parking space. Wow, Birmingham actually did something right. I would never had thought that someone could take all that rundown ancient industrial property and turn it into a beautiful park by the railway. I'm impressed. It's not in a very good area, but they seem to have plenty of security personnel and cameras all over the place. Good job Birmingham.

Great park on the Southside near UAB. Free wifi. Little shops are popping up nearby. Great for exercise, dog walking, often hosts festivals (ice skating in winter), and more. Walking distance from UAB. Regions Field right next to it. Parking can be tricky. Nice escape however. Good security and police presence. Clean. Food shack on site. Never a disappointment!

This was my first time to visit and I brought my six year old boy..we were quite surprised its very nice and well kept lots of things to do .. We played ball and walked around the pond there are a few food trucks and we had some Italian ice and a gelato.. We had a great time, however if you have to park a few blocks away like we did leave before dusk cause for a single mom carrying a lot of stuff and trying to watch your little child the walk back can be kinda sketchy..so just to be safe ladies 😊

Great place to bring family, this park is right next to the trains so they can easily be viewed but separated by a guard rail for safety. The majority of the "exibits" along the park are made from repurposed industrial left overs mixed with traditional park equipment. This is also a mecca for walks and arts and crafts shows etc....

Walking, jogging, workout area, kids play areas, skate boarding and biking. Train watching for those interested. There are large grassy areas to play on or to lay down on. Came here Dec 23rd for ice skating. Born and raised in Vermont so I thought it would be a good time. Beginner skates that don't tighten or support the ankles correctly, ice is soft that it causes tracking issues instead good ice to skate on. It's a recipe for sore ankles. Was enjoyable overall but can't skate for more than 30 mins. Would recommend it for the experience.

Having been in Birmingham for over half a decade since its opening, Railroad Park continues to be a downtown staple. Even living on Highway 280, I make the park a destination when I come downtown. There are plenty of great food options within walking distance but the Park gives plenty of options to exercise, relax, or a pit stop before a Baron's game. A great destination in Birmingham!

Very well designed. Seems to have a lil somthing for everyone. It would be neet if they could add a lil more to skate park section . Basically its two bowls med to small mostly i think their purpose is to jump over the people walkn through. Even maks a good ramp into the lil creek if you can make it past the large to close to skate rock walls .. I dont skate or bike anymore but was always a neat place for events .. Such as the guiness world record for picnic around the world .... Kinda hard to catch out fm there but who hops trains right out of RR park .waitttttt ...

Railroad Park is really fantastic. It's a great place to run, walk or bike -- several trails loop the park and signage tells you how far you've gone depending on which trails you take. There are plenty of benches, covered tables, and lots of greenspace to hang out or have a picnic. Although lots of the space is in the open, a few places feel more tucked away and private. The park has free wifi and free fitness classes. It's close to Good People Brewery, the Barons Baseball Field, B&A Warehouse, and the Light Rails tunnels. The railroad runs right by the park (hence the name), and the park also provides a great view of downtown Birmingham. There are lots of extras in the park, too -- they often serve food and sometimes host food truck rallys. There's a small climbing wall for kids, some skater bowls for skateboarders and cyclists, and exercise equipment that's free for anyone to use. It's safest to visit the park during daylight hours, but it's really an incredible place to have in downtown Birmingham, and it's worth a visit for out-of-towners, too.

Railroad Park was an amazing experience to my visit to bham. The city's atmosphere was very welcoming and felt a sense of southern pride that is apparent in the cleanliness of the park grounds. I would consider a move to bham to fully experience the growth of a southern city. It felt like Las Vegas but without the casinos.
