Reviews of Jemison Park
Leslie
Jamison park was very beautiful for a walk on a weekend.
The creekside trail within the park was my favorite. You walk along the creek in a trail that was always in the shade. There are benches along the trail in case you need to stop or just would like to relax. You can find the perfect trees to put up a hammock.
The trail should handle strollers and wheelchairs, even the unpaved trail areas wasn’t too bad.
Parking wasn’t too terrible. If you follow the address from Google Maps, you can find Peking before you “arrive” to the park on the sides of the roads.
Hamza Badat
A really beautiful park with tons of shade. That's my favorite feature is the shade. On a hot sunny you can take a walk along the path and still not melt away. Really neat and tons of parking spaces as your drive along the road.
Katie Little
This park is clean and beautiful. We took our pup down and found a little alcove on the water. Had such a blast watching him run around in the shallow water. We will definitely be coming back!
Aakruti Sharma
Its approximately 1mile trail (one way), pet friendly & quite simple. Good place for morning/evening walks.
Sasha
Cute little park. The trail goes along this tiny river. The scenery is beautiful and is perfect for a hike by yourself a friend or even your fur baby. It's also a nice place to bring a book and just sit and enjoy nature.
The only thing odd about the park is that it is on street parking.
Rebecca
I have no suggestions or recommendations and I...only...wanted to tell you that it is soooo beautiful to me. I have not been IN IT, but...I have seen it for MANY YEARS, since back in History, when I was three years old...a VERY LONG time ago...during Queen Victoria's Reign...so many long years past, historially long years ago, THAT WE may...NOW FEEL SAFE IN SAYING THIS ...Uh, it is also...VERY WELL BUILT! AND...AND THANKS TO YOU ALL for having me here!
WHY??? did you DO THAT??? YOU SOUND VERY DUMB!!!....WELL, THANKYA!

One of my favorite trails! The majority of the path is covered and it makes it bearable in the hot Alabama summers! I’m not sure the total length of the path but I know it’s not super long. I think somewhere between 1-1.5 miles.
Yoni Talise Dortch-Sisney
My husband and I took our kids to this park. My kids loved every bit of it. My legs told a different story. So much to see and a lot of walking. But its good exercise.
Anwen Eslinger
Great for jogging, walking dogs and playing in the water with kids. Parking is roadside and there is no playground. Some paths are more wooded so bike riding would be a challenge.
haley
Love this trail, even in the cold.
Jeannine
Probably a very pretty place in the Spring or Fall. It was a dreary cold day, but still enjoyed the .1 and .4 mile out and back.
Had we not just run a half marathon it would have been nice to explore farther down in the other direction.
No need to dress in any specific clothing for the walk/hike. It's a leisurely path that any pair of comfy shoe would work. The .4 was gravel.
A good amount of people were on the path walking in running.
Blaine Prickett
Love running / walking at this park. The main stretch on Mountain Brook Pkwy is about 1 mile, but you can continue toward the golf course or English Village in the either direction a good distance.
Christa Meisman
I took a photo client here and it's an amazing photo location! Just don't wander willy nilly off the trail -- and wear closed shoes -- because after doing the complete opposite, we realized there are huuuge spiders and webs all through the meadow 😅 You can certainly walk through but be careful! I would recommend it for a gorgeous walking/running trail and for photos with a woodsy/riverside view.
Temperance Smiley
This is a well-manicured trail that provides a sense of wonder and security.
Brooke Dayton
I enjoy this walk along a creek, has many peaceful benches to sit on and watch the water, the trail is paved part of the way and a small gravel the other part, highly recommend this trail.
Laura McKenzie
What a pretty park to walk in! I loved it. You can get quite a long walk in. The property is well maintained. Dogs are kept on leash. I plan to return.
Christian Spinks
Loved it got to take nice pictures of my girls and theres so much to see downside finding a parking spot
Kristi B
Beautiful for a walk under gorgeous shady trees. You CANNOT walk across the bridge pictured so much in the reviews. So, great walk and area to run or walk the dog. There are better places for hiking.
Ashlee Lowery
Love getting some exercise while enjoying the beautiful scenery while walking my darling 🐺!! …
Allison Brown
A very cute trail in a convenient location. It is dog and bike friendly, and many people come to go running. The price for being so near the city, however, is that there is a good bit of trash, which is sad to see. There were plastic bags caught in trees lining the creek. Still a beautiful place to go, though
Dan Wentz
Great place to relax, walk or run. There are benches throughout the park and a brand new bridge to help you over the stream. The park has a tendency to flood after moderate rainfall, but has sidewalks and is generally flat. There are beautiful homes that line the park.
Devin Taylor
This park is great. It's nice for running or bringing your family for a leisurely walk. There also a lot of people that bring their dogs which my kids loved! It's mainly shaded and it's located in a great part of Birmingham. A lot of the people were super nice and friendly that we met on the trail.
Stefanie Whitworth
Went to festival at shades creek sat and had best time. So much fun and also walking the creek was very relaxing. Don't forget warm temperatures means snakes are moving Keep Your Eyes Open for Them.
Jennifer Jensen
Love this short trail. The hydrangeas were in full bloom and everything had that nice green feel you get after a rain shower. The scout trail is exceptional and my husband and I ate lunch there.
Nikki Guthrie
This is my favorite trail in Birmingham. I love how it is a beautiful nature trail in the middle of the city and how it runs right along a creek. This trail also crossed the creek and has concrete steps in order to pass the water. This is a great place to get a good workout at all while enjoying awesome scenery. It is also close to Mountain Brook so you can walk to Mountain Brook village and enjoy a coffee or ice cream as part of a fun weekend workout. I would highly recommend this gravel trail
Jacqueline Hignite
Beautful and in safe district . .walking and bike trails
Alyssa White
I love this park. A lot of parking available up and down the park. Paved 1 mile, very pretty natural trail adding .6 miles. In and back. Great for strollers and dogs.
Chasa Fulkerson
Cute place to go walking. You can see different birds and sometimes other critters. My husband and I stop here sometimes if we are going to be making a stop at the gardens or the zoo as we don’t live around here.
Teresa Kate
This is a great path for running or walking. We brought our dog here and she loved that most of it is in the shade. There were multiple other people on the trail too.
Matt Smith
I run here weekly. It can be busy at times. Popular place for people to walk dogs. There are a few spots where you can hop off to make it a longer run.
Albert Roberts
Great park for walking or jogging. Very scenic well thought out pathways. Gets really dark at night though, so Lighted paths for night walks would be amazing!
Mark Dean
Great trail to run. With both paved and dirt. Mostly shaded. Definitely a popular path. Best for walking or running. Not much of a hike though. Mostly flat.
Eddy Hignite
Another reviewer said this wasn't a place for kids, but I disagree. My 3 loved it. Nice for walking, great picnic area by the stream. #memoriesmade
Tony Bellan
Wooded walking trail. Dog-friendly. Be on guard, have witnessed a snake close to walking paths (dusk). Generally, however, great place to run/walk year-round.
Timothy Martin
A very pretty place to walk and enjoy the outdoors without having to drive for an hour. We saw many walkers, joggers and bicycles on the paths.
Amy Pfaffman
Beautiful trail paralleling Mountain Brook Parkway. Just wish it were longer.
david schneider
Nice park along Shades Creek in Mountain Brook.
Rusty Sears
Great spot to be surrounded by nature, yet convenient to get to. Well maintained walking paths and benches.
English Farms
Good place to walk or jog. Lot of people bring there dogs . Parking along the way is hit and miss . Beautiful natural areas
Betsy J
It's a graveyard... very well kept by the Sisters, a tiny plot of big history without so much as a bench, but I loved it for what it is. Blink n you'll miss it on the road.
Cris Sleightholm
This could be a really nice park if it wasn't for the fact that the stream smelled like sewer water and had that greenish cast to it.
Ellen Berryhill
Beautiful area with great walking, plenty of benches for sitting, scenic views & dog friendly! Well respected area by locals.
Jeff Richardson
Great walking/running path, shady, flat and lots to see. Nice creek for dogs to cool off in!
Brian McMahan
Beautiful and safe park for walking and nature. Must do for nature seekers.
Merrilyn Cook
Great park in a convenient location for walking and jogging. It is a beautiful location with ample parking. There are trails and paved areas to use.
gail tucker
So fortunate for this natural walking space available & accessible!!!
It is loved and enjoyed by many ❣️
Scott Sherer
What you see is what you get. Get off the trail a little to enjoy the creek. Overall a nice level place to walk or jog.
Ann Sullivan
Just driving down Mtn. Brook Parkway to my church. It does have a wonderful walking trail. Visible to street and always people around. About 3 blocks or so long.
Jennifer Moreira Dinzey
Great place to go on a walk, a run or just relax. Very clean and safe.
Gottfried Kibelka
Wonderful Green space alongside Shades Creek. Not so much a park more a meandering meadow of varying width alongside the creek.
J Ranieri
Scenic walkway with spots to reach the creek. Calling it a "park" is a stretch though, there aren't any facilities or playground equipment, etc that I saw.
Liz Hawes
Love running and walking my dog here, the paths are great.
Angelyn McKenzie
Beautiful well maintained park. The walking trails are easy.
Daniel McCloud
It's ok, it's mainly a walking track. There is great scenery but not a place for kids.
Anne Hicks
especially at this moment in america, the story of the civil rights struggle is an important one to hear and our tour guide told it so well! Clay had full command of the history of the violent struggle in Birmingham, his stories were peppered with many fascinating details, he was totally engaged and brutally honest about the obscenities committed by both radical racist individuals and organizations and the government officials who aided them. we walked thru neighborhoods and parks in downtown Birmingham and drove thru outlying neighborhoods to bear witness to this dark chapter of american history. bring tissues - you'll need them.
alesia adams
Great walking trail. Conveniently located but the stream, trees, and birds make it feel like you are miles from the city.
Paul Gerebtzoff

Wonderful place for a casual relaxing walk. Will have to do it again next time we are down from Michigan.

Only downfall is the road running alongside it if you're put with you dogs.

We need rain! Shades Creek is too low and it will be great when they finish the trail bridge!
Leon Bowsky
Perfect place for a walk. Encounter a whole lot of nice friendly people.
Anthony Rossi
Nice running/walking trail next to shades creek. Great for unwinding after a day at work.
