Reviews of Downs Park
Nice park. Must pay to enter. Signage says no swimming or wading in the Chesapeake. :(
Beaches small but nice, trash washed up in some areas. Special fenced dog beach.
Lots of parking spaces. Visitor center is interesting, as is signage telling the story of previous owners. The most awesome part of the park may be the playground! Wow! Never have I seen such a high public use enclosed tube type playground slide, two of them! Kids will love it!
Fishing pier and outdoor theater facility.
Plenty of hiking trails.
Gorgeous park and grounds. Had a wedding here recently and all the staff was so kind and friendly even when the weather wasn’t the most cooperative. Amazing views and a wonderful park all around. Incredibly scenic and picturesque.
Peaceful, Clean, Friendly park that offers a beach to relax and listen to the waves crash. Fun day for kids to get knee wet in the beach, run wild on the playground or listen to the live band during special occasions.
Beautiful hidden gem for weddings, family reunion, babyshower, birthday party, picnic, graduation celebration or a special memorable event.
A nice serene park with multiple photogenic locations. I would suggest you come in on a sunny day to enjoy the picturesque experience the park has to offer. Also, you can have a walk around the place and also visit the dog beach which lets you go near the ocean.
This park is definitely worth the 6 dollar fee. Very family and dog friendly. The beach area for your dog is perfect. There’s a fishing pier along with trails to walk along.
Simply beautiful. You can walk, ride, sit, sleep, bring your dogs...this park has it all. My favorite is the view of the horizon off the Chesapeake Bay...that in itself is worth the visit.
A hidden gem park with a dog beach, garden that's been maintained since the 1900s, and a walking trail that wraps around the whole property with both water and nature views. I'm personally not a fan of flowers or gardens, but even this one made me feel tranquil and at peace. You can get to the dog beach just walking the trail but if you park in parking lot at the back right corner of the park, it's only a 3-5min walk to the beach. When you get inside there's a few steps, but once you get to the bottom, you can take your dog off leash and let them enjoy the water, sand, and other dogs of varying sizes. Love this place!
This is a really nice park to visit if you want to walk some relatively easy (paved) trails with beautiful Chesapeake bay views and through the mostly untouched woods.
A few short segments of some of the trails track along the main road to enter it, so that is obviously not “untouched”, but it is not a busy road, and most of the trails don’t have this.
This park has become one of our regulars, even though it is a bit out-of-the-way to get there.
(Be careful of the speed bumps, they have dips in front of the bumps, so you basically can’t go slow enough without possibly hurting your car…. ;-)
First time here, what a huge and super fun park. We hit the big playground and some nearby walking trails. Nice facilities. Will definitely have to go back!
This is a great park to take the kids. Nature trails, playgrounds, a dog beach and a great view of the Chesapeake Bay. There is a very small strip of Sandy beach but NO swimming. There is a small entry fee but it's very reasonable. And of course it's now famous for the grounding of the containership (n)ever forward.
Lovely county park on the water with lots of grassy areas, benches and narrow natural beaches along with a dog beach, multiple picnic areas, play areas, a pond with large snapping turtles and a pathed path all along the perimeter of the park. Not too crowded until later in the day. Definitely worth a visit.
Tons of great walking paths paved and unpaved, a fabulous playground, and seaside views. Not too crowded and the ocean air kept it nice and cool. Active military gets in free! Currently the visitor center is not open but the bathrooms are.- update: bathrooms are currently under renovation and closed. There are a number of portable potties for visitor use.
It's a beautiful relaxing place along the Chesapeake waterfront to take the kids and family for an outing. Picknicking, walking, bike riding family gatherings. A very nice place.
Downs Park is close to home for us and our two-year old daughter LOVES the playground! Halloween there was great as she got to dress up and trick or treat in the park in a safe environment. Local businesses were handing out candy and made a great impression. The view from the park of the Chesapeake Bay is AWESOME, especially on a nice, clear day! We will be back on many occasions, regardless of the season! This is a great place for just walking the trails with your significant other or bringing the whole family for a great time. They even have animals that you can see that the park staff are helping rehabilitate.
They have a huge playground, a place to go by the beach, you can bring your dogs here. There is an adorable little garden area with a cute little bench. Great for pictures but you do have to pay a fee if you use the garden area if you're a photographer. They also have a bird sanctuary where they take care of birds. They used to have an owl that passed away recently but they have a cute sign in memory of him.
A lot of trails to walk with you and your family... And I also like that they have a really nice pier to go fishing. It's an adorable little spot and worth going to.
I found this beautiful and peaceful park this summer and loved it so much I went back five times. The way the clouds and light gather over the water is a sight to behold. It's a place of serenity with its benches and trees and walking trail. It has a little dog beach, a fishing spot and a playground the kids won't want to leave. You can rent Pavillions for family picnics or grab one of the free tables nestled in-between the walking trails. I made it a point to visit several local beaches this summer and this was by far my favorite.
Loved the diversity of the park: wonderful views of the bay; great Visitor Center that displays wildlife around the area (ducks & birds I've never seen before); wonderful, smooth asphalt walking trails that are suitable for walkers or scooters; lots of trees, shade & benches; and many picnic tables & pavilions. Ample parking. I was very impressed. Admission is just $6 a day or $40 per year. Discounts available.
Beautiful and well maintained. Costs $6/car, $5 for military/ veterans. Dog park, playground, beaches (no wading/ swimming), garden, walking paths, picnic pavilions, volleyball nets. Not a single pokemon in sight, which is extremely disappointing. And they need better signs in the entrance/ parking areas, because we ended up parking in the first lot and wandering around asking visitors where the dog park was, and it turns out it was quite a far walk for my mom.
Really nice park with beautiful water views. The dog beach is nice also for your pup to cool off in the summer. The playground is a little intimidating only because it’s so high and not so much adult friendly to climb up on with your kiddos (if need be) but over all great park.
This park is fabulous. It has long trails through the woods and on the water.
Additionally, it has a great dog beach and a large playground for the kids!! The gardens are beautifully done as well and there are picnic benches available throughout! Highly recommend this park!!
Nice park, as a vet, I get in free. It has lots of parking, a playground, bbq pits, pavilions and a trail around the whole thing in a mostly wooded setting. There's a fishing pier , a small beach and a separate dog beach as well as a place for concerts and a wedding garden. We even saw a bog/pond with a big blue Egret. They have activities throughout the year.
Fun playground area with TALL slides. Clean bathrooms and niece views of the bay. Good paved trails and large parking area.
Our dogs love the dog beach they have. We take walks there and really enjoy ourselves. The grandkids love the playground and nature trails.
It's a nice park and the do holiday activities there which is fun too
It’s a beautiful park that needs a lil more TLC. Storm damage plus overgrowth were the only downsides. I went early on a cloudy rainy day and really enjoyed the views. It’s a huge park offering beautiful Chesapeake Bay views. Spacious, loads of pavilions, hiking, walking, children and pet friendly areas. Mother’s Garden needs more mothering but it was serene and relaxing.
Great Sunday afternoon jazz concert by the band Hot Club Baltimore. New amphitheater is nice with breeze coming off the bay.
Great park for the whole family even pets. Lots of benches everywhere and bbq grills. There’s a pond with lots of wildlife. We saw many snapping turtles. The views were fascinating and the playground was big with lots of activities. Fee to enter is $6
Nice park next water relaxing day. Nice play area for kids. Restrooms clean.
Beautiful scenic views of the Bay and superb trails for walking or jogging. Also, well-maintained "Mom's" garden that is great for relaxation and meditation. Updated playground structures also make this a great place for families.
Great park with a big playground for the kids. Haven’t seen much more because I end up staying at the playground for hours. Seen the fishing pier and the beach area. No swimming though
Park is a fabulous hidden gem. So many scenic views, a playground for kids, lots of parking and long trails. Don’t miss the little garden in the front for some cute photos. There is noise pollution in some areas as it’s by the road.
We go here almost every week for our waterfront “fix” when we can’t make it down the ocean. It’s got a tiny sandy beach and lots of nice trails, including one that goes through a mature garden. Neat historical aspects too!
This seems like a nice park in general. There's a huge playground for the kids and a walking path I assume. We went to the beach area. It's small but perfect for small kids or for anyone that just wants to be near the water. More than enough sand to play in but not much distance between the two so you need to keep an eye on them. Oh and no swimming allowed. There's a garden there as well. No photos allowed there.
Nice park. Piss-poor management. Saw a bald eagle sitting on post @ 100 yds off-shore. Saw 2 deer while walking trail. We went for the doggie beach, but 3 other dogs there were aggressive so we decided to leave and return later. Good thing. The shore-line was invaded by jellyfish. No warning signs anywhere. Had our dog gone into water, could have been severely injured by their stings. I repeat, No warning signs anywhere. Meanwhile, trash polluted the park in lots of places. We paid $6 entry fee, for what?? They don't maintain very well. Chain link fencing broken in multiple areas. Yet they'll pay a guy to ride blower to blow leaves off trail. Very noisy! I'll not go back. Park Managers not doing a good job. Just collecting their $, not working hard at all.
Paved trails, gently sloped hills (if any) and epic beauty in every direction. If you want a challenging hike then try patapsco instead but if you want to relax and enjoy nature you can't go wrong here
Brand new play equipment. My kids had so much fun! A view of the water! Lots of trails around the area that are dog friendly. My kids had so much fun on the playground!
This is a beautiful park by the water and a very nice walking path. Coming here to spend the day is great when you just want to be outside.
Beautiful. Swimming is not allowed but you can walk on the beach. Clean. People at the playground were very friendly. The playground was above average.
Great park. Took my grandson for some hiking, geocaching and play time. Enjoyed the trails a great deal, and met a lot of friendly dogs and their owners. He met a friendly snake in the nature center, and there is a really fun magnet game of name that animal! Playground was fun, as were the health activities along the Eco Trail. The beach is nice, even in winter. the whole family would enjoy this park.
Beautiful park dog had a great time
Very cute park. Well maintained and clean. Nice place to take your dog since there is a closed off dog beach.
This was my first visit to this park and I was really impressed with the amenities:
Well paved and maintained walking paths
Very clean park
Lots of informative signage
Very clean restrooms
Lots of park benches
Tons of amazing views of the Bay
The children's playground was really nice
Kona Sno cones were also there.
I highly recommend this place
Beautiful park lots to see and do. I hidden jem. Come launch your kayak, fish off the pier, take your dog for a walk on the beach. There are basketball courts and pavilions. Hike thru the woods on paved trails or take a walk on the wild side on the eco trails. Stop and smell the flowers and learn about the area from the well placed signs that have interesting facts. Get up, get out and explore the world around you.
Talk about dog-friendly! This park has a dog about every 100 yards, and the small dog beach is really nice. Nearly all the trails are paved, so it's a nice place to get out and explore without really having to get too muddy.
i stared at the water for like an hour straight. i also enjoy walking here a lot when its cold enough. also there are sometimes dogs so i consider that a win fellas
There is an entrance fee of $6. Well maintained park that is very clean. They are repaving the main path that goes around whole park. There are exercise stations through one part of path. There are so many different paths to explore off main path. Lots of wild life when I went. Heated bathroom facilities throughout park which is great when you are hiking when its freezing out. The welcome center has a big match game on the wall, that is quite entertaining even for adults. They also have some really cool display scenes with stuffed animals. Great view of Bay bridge off of fishing pier. Definitely recommend.
Great park to take your dog, or just hike thru the paved paths through the woods. With workout stations along the way. Well maintained park. Good overlooks and you can see the Bay Bridge out in the distance. It's a good hike since the trails are paved they barely get muddy, just in a very few spots where water builds up on the trail. $6.00 per car (02/17/2019)
We wanted to go to Gibson Island but it's a private gated community so we came here. It has an entry fee of $6 but the park is worth it. It has a huge shoreline with multiple piers and multiple trails.
Really nice place to hang out with the family. The park rangers on the property are really friendly and nice. Also there is a nice picnic area for you to barbecue at..
It's great to take the dog of they like water and other dogs. I've always been there with at least 3-8 other dogs at any given time. I've never had a bag experience with another dog. My only complaint is some owners don't pick up after their dog, OR they do pick up sheet the dog but then leave the waste bag behind! Very frustrating.
Great view of the Chesapeake and a very nice play structure with dual tube slides. Though the people beach is temporarily closed, the dog beach, and the fishing pier are open. The paved trails are in very nice condition. There are unpaved trails as well. The paved trails are pretty much flat except for a few slight inclines and the incline required to cross the bridge over the public road that runs through the park. There is a marsh area, which has great turtle viewing on warmer days. There are abundant osprey and many other birds and other critters. There are port-a-potties by the main parking lot, and real bathrooms in the visitor center. Even after the visitor center is closed, there are nice, clean real bathrooms near the viewing pier at the marsh, which is adjacent to the entrance to the dog beach. Great for non-strenuous, relaxing bike rides for the entire family under a canopy of trees.
A great Park in Arundel county
Along the Chesapeake lots of fishing. Excellent place to hike.
Such a great place! Our dogs had the best time there today. It's a tad smaller than we were expecting, but it definitely did the trick! It was Saturday afternoon, so it was pretty busy. All of the other dogs were well behaved and there were no big scuffles. I highly recommended taking your pups here!!
Beautiful Park, very pretty scenery, awesome fairy scene and bay view.
This is a very nice park on the bay with some pretty interesting history. Lots of nice walking trails, a decent playground for kids, a dog beach and a pretty cool visitor center. There is a pier(s?) for fishing if you have a license.
Overall, this was a nice way to spend an afternoon. Yes there is no swimming but my guess is due to Vibrio, which they clearly warn you about.
Beautiful park, well marked trails. The mothers garden and aviary were also very nice. Quiet picnic areas.
Great for picnic day, lots of green areas and trails
This is very nice and clean park which I like to spend my free time with nice sightseeing off the water and a peaceful surrounding. Check this photo which i takes in my last visit.
My wife and I love this park. my nice views and walking paths.
Beautiful park. Gorgeous view of the bay. Super fun dog beach for dogs. Pups had a blast.
We always take our dog Bogart for his birthday. This year he celebrated his 14th.
I can only speak on the fishing pier aspect. Beautiful views, great sunrises over the water. Nice pier with rod holders and notches. Can catch speckled trout, catfish, white perch, spot, croaker and stripped bass. Fishing was already a social distanced thing anyway as most give ample spacing for casting, and common courtesy.
Very beautiful and we'll maintained park with nice view of the bay and trails. It also has nice playground for kids, some picnic tables and picnic shelters and also has a dog beach..
Great park. Love sitting by the water.
Fishing, scenic views, outdoor gyms and playgrounds, nicely maintained trails with wildlife and a small dog beach, among other things like convenient parking. Would visit again! :)
My dog loves going to the beach here and play with her buddies
Downs Park is a beautiful and majestic park right in the Chesapeake Bay with views of the bridge. They offer fishing, bird watching, trails, a full playground and a nature center. There is a nominal fee to get in per car. Downs Park even offers a private dog beach for your pups to play and frolic in the water. Open year round with pavilions available to rent. It has a stage available to rent as well. This is host to fishing contest as well a Concerts on the Bay, a summer series of concerts. The views of the water are amazing.
Tanglewood pavilion was utilized for a work picnic. Whole area was very clean and we'll maintained. Very nice park.
Had a great time with friends family and pets took alot of great pictures at the beach and pier
A great place to spend a day outside. Plenty of picnic tables and parking spots available.
Beautiful park! Lovely trails and amazing views of the Magothy River and Chesapeake Bay! Parking is $6 which is the only downside, you can get an annual pass for this and 3 other county parks for $30 as well, also cash only.
Beautiful park with plenty of parking, trails, water access, playground. All around wonderful and dog friendly 🐕 …
This is our favorite park. The playground equipment is new. They have a dog beach. The trails are very nice for walking, but very poor for bike riding. They are rebuilding the stage and I hope to go to evening concerts again soon.
August 2022: The stage was completed earlier this year and they've been having concerts on Sunday evenings.
Great place to fish. Beautiful views and a small beach that was a perfect place to spend the day.
What a gem. Sits right on the Chesapeake Bay with tons of paved trails to walk jog or ride a bike. Pets are welcome. I saw a lot of people walking there dogs. And lots of playgrounds for the kids. Just a spectacular view of the bay.
Nicely maintained park next to the water. Great place to walk with your loved ones. Plenty of paved path to walk nestled in the trees with ample shade. There's pavilions to host outdoor events as well. Park for kids. There are outdoor grills if you'd like to use them. Benches next to the water for a great scenic view. And I mean it is beautiful. There's also a fishing pier and a dog beach. Many people take their dogs here for walks and the dog beach. The dog beach is a bit small so be extra cautious if your dog is reactive to other dogs in close proximity! Love taking people here who haven't been before.
Fantastic playground, walking/biking paths, and a beautiful view of the Chesapeake.
Nice place to take your dog and go for a walk. Lots to do in the warmer months. Unfortunately only went in the winter.
Love this place. The new bandshell is beautiful. The walking paths are very well maintained. Plenty of picnic sites. Playground is great for the kids. Very relaxing atmosphere in the bay.
Very nice Park for a quiet walk. Don't forget to go through there beautiful garden it has a lot of photo opportunities
Great park for dogs and kids. There was some storm damage but a great playground. Definitely worth checking out.
Favorite park in the area for a run. Stunning views of the water and a nice 4 mile loop!
The loop path around the park makes a great run/walk. The dog beach is great for the dogs and the kids love the nature center. They have a bunch of programs for kids that I have not looked into yet but plan to.
I walk here a lot. It's 3.5 miles around but I stretch it out to over 6 by turning around at the bridge that crosses over the street and heading back. Pretty views of the water.
Great park and one of the 4 parks included in the Anne arundle county annual pass(kinder farm, fort smallwood, and quiet waters are the other parks)
It features wonderful shaded, paved paths right off the water and in the woods. Great benchs, piers, and launches for folks who want to enjoy the water/fish/boat. Great picnic areas and lawns. Has a dog beach, so there are a lot of pups around. The large playground is on the older side and isn't shaded.
There is a main building with vending and bathrooms.
Dog Beach was perfect for Flossy and Bella. Plenty of other happy dogs to play with. The water view and fishing pier is a plus. Clean trails and even picnic tables ( in the shade) and bathrooms.
Excellent Park!!! I want to come again. There is a lot to do in here. So much fun with our kids an our dog today.
Nice kids park one for both the younger ones and the older ones. All with a beautiful view. Lots of trails to walk with a dog beach as well. Bathroom and park was very clean
First time here and enjoying it. Can't wait to return!
Love the quaint beach designated for dogs!
(And it's fenced in)
My favorite park! Amazing playground for the kids, amazing dog beach, pretty trails, gorgeous views.
They closed restroom for no reason , first it was for mens then women . We rented a pavillion but there was no restroom neraby . I dont know why they put that sign in working restroom as out of order. May be they don’t want to clean it or what ? Who would close the restroom on main office on weekend ? It was so hard with kid to do back and forth to other restroom which was on other end of park in this hot & humid day .
Nice place to have family gathering
My "go to" place for a few hours of peace and tranquility. Ample parking for every need, great walking>biking trails, multiple size pavilions for group gatherings, on the Bay seatings, long fishing pier, warm weather activities, great bathroom facilities and so much more!
Gorgeous park, gorgeous views. Doesn't get 5 stars bc you have to pay to get in, but apparently that's the norm in Maryland
Beautiful park. Lots of trails to visit.
A place I go to clear my mind and walk my dog. The view is amazing and I truly love going there to find peace. Also they help injured birds which you may see in the cages. Also the trail is nice, they have a dog park and did I mention the trail has workout stops along the way . A nice place to relax , fish and let your dog enjoy the dog beach made especially for dogs and fenced in.
Fun for the kids and scenic for the adults. Park restrooms are typically open, which is much better than the usual port-o-johns at other parks (if anything at all). Additionally there are walking/jogging trails and water views, my family always enjoys visiting this park.
What a beautiful park and breezy! 7$ entry fee, free if you're military and there are senior discounts as well. The playground was well maintained, the older kids side of the playground was very tall! My daughter had an amazing time! Their trail around the park is very shady and definitely a place to ride your bike or just walk it is quite lengthy which is great like 3 miles a rough guess and I didn't go all the way around my kid was tired before we could finish it. The view of the bay was beautiful. One tip I could say for families is to bring sunscreen and have your kids wear hats and have cold drinks the playground has no shade but the breeze is nice.
Beautiful day and beautiful scenery. First time visitor -- it won't be the last! Today had the added attraction of the grounded Evergreen.
Really small beach but quite clean and dogs can swim and play off leash. Our puppy really enjoyed his summer swim.
I very much enjoy coming to this park on any given day, mainly to walk the trails or play a little basketball at the court by the Eco trail. Always something interesting that you may come across on these walks and all the people are so friendly. It is also dog friendly so you come across a lot of people and they're furry companions. The entrance fee is $6, free for Veteran's.
Lovely park. Nice paved walking trail. Great playground trail. Views of the water are lovely. There are benches available to relax and take in the view.
Beautiful park 🙂 Great for nature walking and biking, and everyone are nice …
Best Waterview park I have ever been too. Never crowded, plenty of parking, cleaned and great kids playground. This is a hidden getaway from the daily grind. Get the annual $36 AA County park pass its worth it to come here once a week.
Downs Park remains one of my favorites. Always clean, there are restrooms near the playground. New play structures were installed over the winter. My 4 year-old grandson loves the new approximately 2 story tall towers and slide; they have tops to keep the adventuresome children contained but like anywhere else you need to keep watch on your child. The paved walking trails on the backside of the park remain peaceful and enjoyable. There is a walking bridge from the waterside of the park to the backside however the paved approach is moderately steep and is likely difficult for those in wheelchairs.
Really nice park on the water, dog and child friendly, with nice paved trails and good parking. You can pay in advance online or using a credit card at the gatehouse. The attendant may want to scan the prepay code from your phone, as though it wouldn't work scanning the same code from a sheet of paper (which was my experience last Friday).
This is such a great park. So peaceful sitting by the water. The playground is great for the kids. Love the walking trails too.
It's a very nice park the reason I didn't give it five stars is because of the dog section of the park. I was just strolling along taking different paths then eventually you going to take a turn that's going to have you right near dog beach and you just smell every bit of their feces we're going to blame myself with that one I should have looked at the signs but other than that it's a great place with a lot of rules on where you can walk where you can fish I don't think you can swim out there I wouldn't anyway the little minor things
Kids and I love riding bikes, scooters and skate boards through the paved walkways. There is ample space to enjoy the scenery. Public restrooms, an epic play area for kids, dog beach, fishing pier, and pavilions for parties. Its great!
Big Thank you to the Dedicated Volunteer's, Park Rangers, "Jo" Gate Attendant and all park staff for all you do
Did see what looked like a branch floating, moving towards the shore.. Turned out to be a dark brown snake that swam from the water onto the beach and into the rocks.
Great day with the family, including your dogs. There is a dog beach, water fountains with fountains for the dogs, a huge new playground with dog tie offs and a restroom close by. Not to mention the walking paths everywhere and it being on the water! Pack a lunch and spend the day for $6 a car.
Came today for a family festival. Amazing experience. My kids 3 and 5 had a blast.
Nice park to spend quality time with family 😀
And for those who have dogs as well, Since there is a beach dog. …
My toddler & I love it here, the playground is awesome, there's dogs (leashed) everywhere & enough sand space to play by the water. Swimming is not permitted but there's more than enough to enjoy, very clean & well managed, well worth the $6 entry fee (cash only). Each time we've been there, there's been a Kona truck selling flavored snowballs. The paths are very well maintained & there's a little botanically garden that makes for a quick & pleasant stroll.
Been going here since it opened decades ago. Great place to relax and enjoy the Chesapeake bay .
Loved the atmosphere!!! Caught a drum.
Nice looking park with bay view. A plenty of parking space.
Lots of wildlife to see and trails to walk! There is a designated dog beach as well for those who love to bring their pups! Bike trails, walking trails!
Beautiful and relaxing great place for a picnic.
Great park! Even though you have to pay $6to get in, it's still a beautiful Park by the water.
This place is always amazing! We live almost 90 miles from here, but, gladly make the drive for their dog beach so our pups can have fun in the ocean with fellow fur babies. I can't stress enough that dogs who are not friendly, have signs of aggression or bite history are NOT supposed to be brought to dog parks or dog beaches!! One of our huskies were bit by 2 different dogs while there!?! Thankfully we were close and no damage was done to our puppy but this isn't the first time I've seen this occur at other dog parks. This was the first for our dog, and surprising as our huskies are sooo sweet, playful and don't have an aggressive bone in their body. After the 2 aggressive dogs left our dogs had SO MUCH FUN with the 4 other dogs that remained. Obviously it's not the dog beaches fault, or other dog parks, it's irresponsible owners who don't abide by the rules of dog play areas like these . But, we love Downs Park & their dog beach.
They've got a clean and fun playground our kids love to play at too. Looking forward to great weather so we can spend more time there. A real jewel if you're able make it.
Great dog friendly park, plenty to see n do!
Beautiful place
Great place to take the kids
Pretty place to walk your dog
Great place to run, enjoy the view, and let kids play.
This state park has good lot of pavilion for a day picnic or private parties. There is a fishing peir for fishing , and a very small beach kind of area. But swimming is not allowed and the surface near beach seemed rocky so not safe for swimming. A good play area for kids.Overall a decent place if you want have small picnic with friends and family , a beach would have been a good addition, It also has trail well marked for walking and bicycle rides
Great dog beach with plenty of other pavilions and paths around.
Even better since they re did the playground! My kids love going there to hang out and play. Plus there is more benches and shade for us adults. It's just all around a great place for your kids and family to hang out, have picnics, birthday parties, weddings, etc. If you go there alot I would highly recommend getting the yearly pass, which also includes a couple different parks as well.
Beautiful park. Love biking there.
It's a great place to go relax. Cute paths, nice playground for the kids, and my daughter loves her camp there. Shame the water has a lot of warning signs about the flesh eating bacteria. It would have been fun to swim.
This was a great day to spend with my Sisters and have a brown bag lunch surrounded by water and nature.
Great park for families. Loved their Sundays in the park and the musical performances. Have a great dog beach for the pups to splash and play!
Great park awesome fishing pier and beautiful photo ops
Great park. Lots to do. Nice playground. Nature center closed today. Maybe that's a weekend thing.
Very nice park. No swimming or beaches available. Nice pet beach. Lots of hiking available.
Such a fun park!
Another trip with the grandkids who love the 3 level climbing structure on the playground. I know there are waterfront hiking trails, a nature-focused visitor center, and some captive owls and hawks. We don't see those because we're too busy on the jungle gym. Update 14 Apr 2022, while the playground is still popular, the attraction now is a large cargo vessel grounded in the Chesapeake Bay immediately offshore and efforts to get the ship offloaded and unstuck.
I love the way the pier is setup.. always nice people on the pier and plenty of room to fish
Beautiful and serene. Very nice area for a long casual walk in the woods. Lots of places to picnic, with large, covered pavilions for rent to accommodate larger groups. Plenty of parking spaces. $6 Entrance fee. Can also buy annual pass.
Great park for kids and adults. Love the paths. The playground is great. Perfect place for one or a large group to spend the day enjoying the gardens, fishing pier, dog park, gardens and so much more.
I was nice place for walk with your pets. Would be better to if they have a place to eat there.
Beautiful, large park. Playgrounds, dog park, fishing. If you're afraid of dogs, this definitely isnt the place for you. Lots of leashed dogs
Absolutely one of the best and cleanest parks here in Anne Arundel county
Always enjoyable at down park. I do not like the new kids area. The old play area was much better for all ages. Just my personal opinion.
Great park, but need to fence the dog beach better. Dogs could easily get out if off leash.
My favorite park in Anne Arundel County.
This place is great, walking paths are paved. Great view of the bay
Relatively clean. Fun place for dogs to run free and play on the dog beach. But it was crowded. The beach area isn't that big esp when you have a good dozen larger breeds running into the turf. Public bathrooms are nearby the dog beach. The park has paved trails to walk along. Several pavilions for general use or you can reserve with ample parking for all. Outdoor play ground for kids though which is not covered for really hot summer days. Overall, enjoyed the park. If you live with 20 minutes, a year pass is a good deal. Always check your dog for ticks after going to wooded or grassland areas.
Downs Park, located in Pasadena off Mountain Road, is a real gem in the Anne Arundel County park system. It's easy to get to, has ample and dispersed parking lots, numerous picnic tables and various sizes of pavilions (by reservation), a playground, and an asphalt surface with 8 basketball hoops. In addition, many trails traverse the park for waking, running and bicycling. There is a large visitors' center with exhibits and staffed with a ranger and volunteers. There's a well manicured, quiet flower garden with benches to relax and read or watch the many butterflies and birds. Facing the Chesapeake Bay are large memorial benches for relaxing or watching the sailboats, container ships and other maritime traffic. The Bay overlook, fishing pier, kayak launch, the aviary, volleyball nets, a concrete wall ball area and dog beach are other amenities that make this park a great destination for everyone. There is a reasonable admission charge (or a yearly pass is available) and the park, like others in the County, is free for veterans.
Nice big park by the water with a pier. The kids play area could use more shady spot. Admission was $6
Gave three stars, because of deer ticks.Park itself is nice and most trails are shaded. I recommend staying off the eco trails if you have dogs. We have pulled off 2-3 ticks from 15 min walks on eco trail each time. The paved trail is about six feet wide and seems fine if you walk your dogs away from the wooded sides. We have not seen ticks when staying on paved trails or beach. Also may want to be mindful of the wet mashed area, we have seen snakes it it before. We will continue to visit the park. It's quiet and people are nice. Just sad our doggies can't go on the eco trail anymore. They loved it though.
Very clean and well maintained! I really like that the paths are paved, so it's easy to walk no matter the weather. The dog beach is fairly secure, and definitely nice to visit!
Fist time visiting this place. Very nice trails. Nice playground. Seems to be dog friendly. Vehicle parking is $6. Will be visiting again.
Has a fenced in beach area for dogs. Great walking trails. Cost $6 per car to go in
Wife and I had a relaxing afternoon watching the waves
Beautiful and peaceful nice trails for walking, biking, piers for fishing, playgrounds, Benches to sit and look at the bay just and awesome view only $6.00 per car but worth it, still had to take a star away for it tho it's my rule lol
Great layout for adults and children. Dog friendly with a dog beach. Wonderful place to go to.
Beautiful park on the water. Walk through"Mothers Garden" small plots adopted and planted by the community. Trails for walking, playground, dog beach and bird sanctuary for rescued wildlife on the mend. Wonderful place to relax and enjoy time with family and friends.❤❤❤
Very clean and wonderful park. Nice walking trails with beautiful views of the bay.
Will be back again. Cost $6 to get in for me and my wife. Well worth the fee.
Nice park with decent area for water watching and lounging. Don't recommend swimming, but people let their kids wade in the shallow water. Nice area for dogs by the water but can get a little rowdy with dogs playing so if your dog is shy they may be scared.
My wife and I went to Downs Park to ride bicycles on the trails. Much of the trail was beautifully wooded and some of it rode by the bay shoreline where there is a grassy knoll and benches. The portions of the trail we were on were either paved or had hard-packed gravel; both were excellent to ride on.
My kids enjoy coming here, clean, quiet and nearby
Lots to do here. Tons of open space to sit on the grass. There are paths for walking or riding a bike. Piers to fish or go off on an adventure. There is a fee before entering for some.
Great place for a day out with the family. The paved trails make hiking with our son, who is in a wheelchair easy. The views of the bay are wonderful and my daughter loves seeing all of the dogs that visit the park with their owners. They even have a dog beach.
Great park. Sometimes it gets busy but that's because the kids are having fun! Sometimes Kona Ice comes, wish more food trucks did 🤞 …
Nice little park near the bay and hiking trails. Bathrooms and limited shade.
Great for kids and pups. Playgrounds, nice walking paths, and a partially enclosed beach for the dogs to run and swim.
Such a great park. One of a kind and beautiful to visit.
- Huge Fishing/Observation Pier
- Sandy Beaches
- Dog Park
- Bathrooms
- Tons Of Parking
- Currently Free To Visit ( Subject To Change )
- Walking Trails
- Playground
- HUGE and great for SOCIAL DISTANCE
Drove past it the first day. Huge walking trails, great spot for family fun and even better area for the animals. Playground is awesome for the kids. Water was extremely dirty but given they don't want you swimming or wading there- could see why. Still a nice spot to relax in. Was $6 to enter it but very reasonable.
A picturesque park on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay with a playground for the gods, a dog park, fishing pier, moles of walking trails, picnic areas, a kayak launch... Pretty much everything you could ask for. There is construction right now but doesn't Jinder your park experience. A gem on the Anne Arundel County park system.
Great park and our first time there. We were out exploring and could not access Gibson Island so we drove area that area. We didn't know Gibson Island was a closed gated community.
Downs Park is huge and great place to fish, canoe and just hang out with the family.
Great place to bring your dog. There are two little dog only beaches and a nice pier that you can fish off. Veterans do not have to pay an entrance fee!!!
I love Downs Park! Beautiful, with lovely trails. The natural trails are my favorite. Great place to see wildlife and lots of interesting plants. I love coming here to relax, and enjoy nature.
Firstly, very clean and plenty to see and do. Very family friendly. There's even a dog beach!$6/car isn't a bad price for park entry. Other beach areas. Fishing areas, including a huge walk-out pier. Plenty of trails for biking and walking. Areas to eat. Building with information and exhibits regarding local critters, which is fun for walking around with children. Building also has A/C if you need a few minutes out of the sun. Also, porta potty's around if needed.
Something for everyone here! Whether you want to chill with a water view, rent a pavilion, walk or bike on a trail, or take your dog to the beach, you're bound to enjoy the scenery here.
A really nice, family oriented facility. Lots of parking in various areas, lots of picnic tables and grills. We were there for a hike and stayed mainly on the paved perimeter path. Nice views of the bay. A great ranger station w/ educational facilities and natural dioramas.
This park is so gorgeous! It's got a nice, mostly flat 3.5 mile perimeter trail and a couple of other shorter trails. There's a playground, pavilions, an eco walk, some strength equipment along the trails, an adorable garden, a fishing pier, and incredible views of the Chesapeake Bay. It costs $6 per vehicle to enter the park, but it's well worth it.
My favorite park! I have been going here for almost 25 years, and have fond memories being a kid and playing with my friends, riding bikes, flying kites, etc. here. My husband and I got our engagement photos taken here, and I now take my family and my dog, and am still creating memories! It is a lovely park with friendly staff.
Great place for the pups, lots of wide open spaces with views of the Bay. There is also a public dog beach where you can take your pets off leash to enjoy the water. Its small, but none of the pups seem to mind!
Clean and well maintained with a paved 3.2 mile loop to jog. Beach and dog beach are fun, but people sometimes let their dogs off leash at the dog beach despite the signs warning. Burden rescue has a cool owl and there are lots of pokemon stops to enjoy, too.
Went for a baby shower and forgot how nice the park is. Will definitely go back often
Loved it. Luckily there were not too many dogs. So my pup enjoyed it. It is about 95% fenced in, so that's good. My pup is a runner and tends to escape, but everything was good. Wish the area was bigger.
Just a beautiful park. Wide open to just be free
Not what I had expected. There's no swimming allowed here. They don't even want you wading in the water. Persons that work there were asking parents to get their kids out of the water. The dogs are definitely allowed in the water though based on what I saw. I gave it 3 stars because its a nice looking park where you can go and picnic
Had a wonderful day going around the park. Discounts for disabled to enter for the day. My pommeriani Lucille loved it. A great day for my 60th birthday. People are very helpful and nice especially the gate guard on duty. Since the information area was closed today he was very kind to point me in the right direction. I didn't get his name but I'll be back to thank him.
Beautiful park. Well maintained. Great trails for bike riding, etc. We've made so many memories there with our grandchildren... the turtle pond, the nature center, the playground, and the summer concerts.
This park has everything a public park in Maryland should have. Beach view of the Chesapeake Bay including a view of the Bay Bridge. A fishing pier ( make sure you have your fishing license and saltwater stamp) for anglers to try their luck on. A dog/ pet beach to bring your pet to. Nature trails that are both scenic and exhilarating. A nature/information center about local wildlife that can be found locally. A garden that is perfect for quiet contemplation or a just leisurely walk. An out door concert and movie pavilion that operates during the warm months. In short this park has it all. Make sure to bring your military ID.
Probably the best park in Anne Arundel county. Tons of paved trails, the garden is nice, the rescued birds are interesting, the bay is right there, the a good playground, there's a stage where they do a lot of summer events. Tons to do here and very dog friendly.
A quick Google search led us to this place. Dog friendly with a refreshing breeze off the bay...It was okay.
This park is really nice and relaxing. You can fish, bike, walk, run, sightsee, or do absolutely nothing and it’s all okay. Great place for family time.
Beautiful….lots of trails and the playground was fun for the kids! Pavilions were neat and clean and so were the bathrooms at the main house!
Beautiful view of the Chesapeake Bay. Performance stage, playground and has a doggie park section. Nice fishing pier, can go canoeing but no swimming. Nice place to have a wedding or family reunion, graduation parties, etc. Nice walking trails. Very relaxing atmosphere.
This is park is very clean, has lots of trails, and is large. It has a very nice playground. Everyone treats each other with respect. It doesn't get overly crowded, unless there is a special event. I have been coming to this park since I was a kid; I have always looked forward to coming to this park.
It is very well maintained and clean, but the water was super cold today. The dog park is fenced in but the door has a big enough gap for a small dog to get through.
There is a lot to do here. You can sunbathe down near the water. You can walk through the woods to see their rescued birds, a red tailed hawk, and a screech owl. There is a large playground with activities for most children. There is also plenty of room to spread out a blanket and have a picnic. My son really enjoyed it.
Great views and walking trails
Had a wonderful time at the Park today. We saw all kinds of turtles at the turtle beach. Played with dogs at the dog beach. And saw all kinds of wildlife. Definitely enjoy spending days there.
Absolutely love this park! It's hard to believe that it's a county park because it's so nice! Tons of well maintained walking trails, large pavilions, an adorable dog park, large bird sanctuary, and beautiful views of the bay. This park is absolutely my favorite!
Great park. Trails are well maintained and facilities are clean. Dog beach is great. They also have a aviary that many don't know about. Also a fishing pier. Many activities to do for park located on the bay.
Beautiful park with paved trails you can walk, run, bike, kayak, sup here. It's dog friendly with a dog beach. It overlooks the water. A nice big fishing pier for fisherman. They put on outdoor concerts in the summer. They have exercise stations along the paved trail so can stop and do pullups, dips, pushups. Have monkey bars different exercises for core, balance, legs.
We are not from this area and visited to get a view of the stick cargo ship. This is a really nice park!! We will be coming back to explore
Admission fee asks for $6 per car. The concern is on dog beach(not big though), all dogs are together and some are really aggressive which is not a good experience, otherwise, it is great. Suggest to separate dog beach by sizes.
Off-Leash, fenced in dog beach. Dogs can swim, play fetch in the water, and roll around in the sand to their heart's content. Clean, good sized beach area. Not huge but a good size for loads of fun.
People need to follow the rules, the pier is for fishing. And people need to stop catching fishing and putting them back if they are injured by your hook when you catch them. Ask someone who else that is fishing if they want them. I see too many fish floating. But this park is a awesome place to visit.
Great park with lots of facilities. Also free admission for veterans. Came to shoot pictures of the USCG Barque Eagle sail by, unfortunately she was too far out in the haze for a good shot. It is still a very nice park if you are in the area.
Downs park has a very nice trail to run on. It circles the park and runs just a few feet from the Chesapeake Bay. Of course the rest of the park offers a lot for families.
New playground is nice! The dog beach has a fence around it and plenty of picnic tables to enjoy a lunch at the park.
Total Gem. So much to see, or just sit & relax. Dog beach, Awesome. Everything well maintained. Although being a dog lover My only suggestion would be to enforce cleaning up of dog waste. For a place so beautiful, the people enjoying it should also return the favor by cleaning up after their dogs. So simple
This is one of our family's favorite parks. They have a garden, bird habitats, playground, grills, pavilions, dog beach, people beach, walking trails oh and the beautiful view! We love it here.
We're lucky to have this beautiful park on the Bay. There's a playground, dog beach, fishing pier, trails, and an aviary for rescued raptors that houses (at the moment) a great horned owl and red tailed hawk. There's a platform overlooking a salt marsh that's typical of the Chesapeake Bay area. Definitely worth a visit!
There's a lovely garden, aviary, beach area, dog beaches, piers, long walking trail, playground, theatre... truly this is one of the best parks.
Perfect combination of Bay front, great pier, woods along the bay, amazing walking trails! Beautiful park!!
Great trails, dog water park, fishing pier, playgrounds, etc...
Also great views of the water.
Beautiful park on Chesapeake bay in Maryland. Gaeat place for family and pets
Very clean and well-kept lawns. Nice comfy benches all over the place! Good clean plays cape for the kids. :) :) Fun and Games.
Great park good trails and wonderful playground. Parking is close to the playground and plentiful.
Pet friendly, they have a doggy beach. I love taking my dog on walks around their trails and next to the water. And the deer come out at dusk and watch the humans!
The venue was perfect for my wedding on Saturday! There was more than enough room for all my guests int the Chesapeake room. Though some of my guest got lost from google maps saying turn left instead of right. The garden was beautiful, and they let us decorate some of the trees.
Beautiful place for a midday picnic. Views of the Bay are fantastic
It's a wonderful place. There is a dog beach, picnic tables, playground, pond where you can see turtles. You can sit on the benches and watch the sea... Entrance fee is $6.
Clean location. This park had paved routes in the wooded areas which made for a smoother walk/exercise experience. Would be ideal for wheelchairs and strollers.
Great place to bring your family. Park is very clean and the people are friendly. Lots of nature to enjoy, Nice trails, Fishing pier, and dog park.
This park is huge in every sense of the word! There is a couple different playgrounds!!!! Endless paved blacktop paths! I played here as kids and still do lol!!!! Fishing is actually gretty good as well!!!!
Great views of the bay, beautiful trails and a unique garden. There's pavilions and piers and clean bathrooms perfect for a picnic. Will definitely visit again.
Clean and pretty. I don't have a dog but it was nice seeing they were able to run around the dog beach. People were swimming in the water but there were signs up warning about some dangerous bacteria so be conscious of that.
Really nice park with water access and a small dog beach area. Daily cost is a little steep, so definitely carpool or opt for the annual pass if you'll be going often.
The trails are always kept up and provide a wonderful ability to safely commune with nature. As much as I miss the displays in the ranger station, I understand why it needs to be closed.
Its a nice park however, not many picnic tables around the playground area and only 1 bathroom was opened.
Great place with amazing views! The new park is awesome they did a great job with the upgrade. I can't wait for the finished stage and for concerts in the park again.
Don't like that you can't swim in the water, however, the dog beach was awesome and overall it seems like a really nice park!
Nice easy to get to park with lots of trials, benches to sit and watch the water or pavilions to enjoy fun times with family and friends.
Are you looking for a Pokémon? They have plenty there as well. I took my daughter and she caught all kinds of things as well as filled up her virtual backpack.
The park is beautiful, kept clean and has great walking paths! We love that they have great views, turtles, deer, and a fishing pier!
Love the dog beach where we can swim with our dogs. Clean park with so much to do. Youth camping areas, family entertainment at the amphitheatre.
My dog absolutely lives this park, it's great for dogs and people but they do not have human swimming availability
I love Downs Park. My husband and I buy season passes so we can go as many times as we want. You can see the bay bridge from the water. Great playground for the kids.
Beautiful park and a great dog beach!
The only downside is how far away from my house it is. My dog and I had a great time! Plenty of paths to wear her out. We'll definitely be back!
I was fishing at Downs park one day and a park official chased me out of an area i was fishing. He claimed no one can fish left of pier. Now i have fished there for 4 years and no one said a thing. No posting for this "rule". Now i paid 6 dollars to get in to the park only to be harrassed. Never again Down Park !
Very beautiful park. I loved the trails, the views, and the park and pavilion areas. Great for a quick nature walk or an all day affair.
It has an awesome dog park
Activities for the entire family. Clean and beautiful design.
We love the dog park! Even though the dogs are crazy, lol but they’re having so much fun. You will get dirty and your toys may get taken or drift out to sea. But it’s worth it. It’s chaotic just FYI lol but if you’re a true dog lover it will be tons of fun
One of my favorite parks to visit! Would recommend to anyone! Free for military families. Has a great park for all ages, great walking trails, pet beach and small beach for kids to play
went fishing very Nice Place very clean will come back Thanks
Always a great place to walk and relax. Great views plus my dog loves all the trails and the dog beach
great water views nice hiking trail about 5 MI picnicing and dogs in their own area. I love this park.
This is an Anne Arundel Coubty park. It includes a number if bike/walking trails totalling a little over 2 miles thru the woods and alongside the bay.
There is an outside amphitheater where events are held, a lookout over the bay, and a fishing pier.
The park is well maintained, as are all AA County parks. A fee is charged per vehicle entering the park.
The park was easy to find. The pavilion was clean and in a great location. Went to the park last year and enjoyed it as well. Nice place for outdoor fun and family gathering.
Great park for everyone, including your dog. Bicyclist and pedestrians share the paths so keep your head up.
Great place to walk by the water.
Beautiful day for a walk in the park! Ate at Johnny's rest. Homemade racetrack soup. Fresh N. Carolina strawberries! Almost like real old fashioned berries. Better than Fla.'s.
I enjoy the wide range of outdoors experiences. Walk along Chesapeake Bay, hike in the tree covered path. Fish from the pier. A dog beach. Concerts in the summer weekends. Love it.
This place is a Gem. If your looking for a place to enjoy a cookout or just a walk this is the place. Awesome veiw, the wild life here is unbelievable. I came through the security booth and there was at least 8-10 deer just hanging around in the middle of the day. They also have a bird rehabilitation area for injured birds. There was an Owl and Osprey when I was there. I was no more than a foot away from this beautiful Spotted Owl.
What a lovely place to spend an afternoon. Gorgeous garden and well cared for walking trails right on the water.
One word, Awesome. Great flat trails, plenty of wildlife [for the area, snakes, turtles, deer, foxes). Staff and the Rangers are super friendly and helpful.
Beautiful... Nice walking trails... nice Pier to walk out and see the water and fishing and just sit... Nice little dog park... Easily accessible to all
Beautiful park with awesome views of Chesapeake Bay..playground for children- walking/biking trails. Great place for a picnic and family fun day. Plenty of parking
Great park for your pup to splash in the water. Not too busy and clean enough. Good location secluded so that’s a
Plus.
I have been coming to this park ever since I moved here. Perfect for spending time outdoors with the family, taking my dog to play fetch in the water, or just going for a walk.
Downs Park is spacious, well-tended, and enjoyable for all. Check out the garden! The dog beach is a pretty sweet feature of this park as well.
Great park with a quiet beach. Perfect for picnics and a nice stroll around. Dog friendly.
Great park with a wonderful view of the Chesapeake Bay. Wonderful fall colors here, too. Note that at some point, Google started listing the park as being closed on weekends. This is not correct - the park is closed on Tuesdays.I called them to verify that the hours never changed.
Love fishing here, has a pier and boat ramp, very well cared for park
The park service people are helpful and friendly
Has a dog walking area and beach
Another great spot for a hike or just a picnic
Peace full fresh air lots to do. On the bay like to take my dog ..
Fresh air, bird watching, nice trails, clean... Peaceful views all around..
Beautiful views of the Bay, huge fishing pier, trails, nature pond, playground, volleyball nets, and a dog beach too!
Park in good condition considering past winter's weather great grad party
Nice place to walk with long views and our beautiful bay.
This place is a dream. Lots of paths, beaches, dog beach, a fishing pier, and a giant kids playground. Plenty of parking. Can easily spend a whole day here.
Very pretty park to spend an afternoon but the beachy areas are very small (not a good place to lay out a blanket to hang out unless you're in the grass) and the fee to enter is pretty steep compared to other (bigger) parks.
Fun little beach + walking trails here. Good bathroom. Hose for washing sand attached to bathroom.
Very nice well maintained park. Honestly could have been rated 5 stars as there are no critiques.
Very nice low key park with beautiful waterfront. Cost 6 dollars per car for entry. Will be back soon
An amazing park in Maryland.
Excellent areas for grilling, pavillions and plenty of parking.
The park had fishing areas. Just be sure what is caught is in season otherwise a fine of $125.
Very beautiful scenery! Watched the water, kid's on play ground. Very nice place.
Miles of walking trails and plenty of waterfront make this beautiful park to visit. It can be a little tricky to get to especially with traffic in the evening but nevertheless a great place to visit
Great place for the whole family! A place for the kids to enjoy the playground, a place for you to rest by the water and for your pets to enjoy as well !!
We love this park. Its very private and secluded and a great place to catch nature at its finest and to walk your dog or hike with your Love
Great park to bring family or animals or even come by yourself they have so many great things to do you can walk around and enjoy the park or bike ride or exercise walking they have a dog park a kids parks they have a stage for bands to come out and play they have so many things to do their, it is a great park to visit
Great spot for a day trip - plenty of trails and outdoorsy things to get into. The staff are wonderful and are willing to answer questions any questions about the local creature or fauna.
been here several times. very good park with playground and beach. perfect for kids and adults.
This is a great little park. I enjoyed my time here. I'll have to come back to explore the trails and fishing pier.
Very well kept. New playground. On-site restroom that is not a portable
Beautiful, peaceful environment. Get to sit in benched and watch the water. It's safe and clean. I'd recommend.
It's a great place to walk, run, bike, take your dogs for a swim, fish, or launch out on your kayak. Go see the aviary and the Visitor Center.
It's a very nice park. Its a good place for children to go on field trips. They teach the kids a lot about trees and animals.
This is a lovely park and it's wonderful to have a dog beach, but the dog beach is not very accessible. The stairs leading down to the dog beach are treacherous and make it impossible for both people and dogs with disabilities to enjoy it.
Good food, great service, friendly
Great park for kids and for casual walkers. There's an aviary and garden too. So pretty!
This park is a gem in the middle of Pasadena. The park service does a fantastic job in upgrading the facilities on a regular basis. It's always clean and the park is well maintained.
Pretty park. Nice water views, cruise and other ships going by. Concerts in summer. A very nice way to spend a few hours on Sunday night.
Beautiful view of the water. Very nice playground for kids as well as many other things to see while walking on there very nice and long walking trails.
Nice quiet area for a walk or bike ride. Also a cozy spot to let the dogs play in the water.
Fun park good playground. And the trails were really nice for walking and biking
Lovely park. Nice bike trails. Cycled the perimeter trail through woods with nice views of the bay.
Very nice park. It's a good value for the cost.
Great place to walk in nature.
Side note: my dogs love the dog park!
Walking trails are well kept, the park rangers are great, and the park hosts so many wonderful events for families.
We love to visit this park, great walking trails, turtle pond, dog beach, playground plenty of places for picnics, absolutely beautiful park!
Small but nice Gardens, great views of the bay, a dog park and lots of walking trails
Another fun family park . lot of nice trails for hiking biking and walking the dog. Very dog friendly !
Large park, paved pathways, boat ramps. This place has it all. Great place for family hangout time. They have functions regularly, check their calendar for events.
Nice hot day out fishing the pier catching small perch, spots, and couple small rocks 6-8 inches.
Beautiful park. Great place to walk or bike on paved trails under the trees and near the water.
Perfect place for some quiet.
Very nice paved trails, dog beach, Kayaking, and plenty of grills...FREE FOR MILITARY AND VETS!!!
Absolutely love this park. Awesome trails going through woods & beach. Dog beach is great!
The new playground is great. My kid really enjoys the "climbing tower" and the musical toys.
Wonderful place with great views of the bay. Love hitting the trails with my kids.
Very nice and well kept. Lots of things to do
Direct kayak access to the Chesapeake Bay. However you must be willing to carry your yak about 50 yards to the water. There is no boat ramp.
This is a great Park I love to go down by the water and look for pieces of Driftwood and Beach Glass are a lot of trails to walk and great areas to have a cookout.
The park and trails are always well maintained. Great views of the bay.
Relaxing and has a nice trail to walk
Beautiful trails, gorgeous view of the Bay, and well maintained facilities. Great day, and free this week, besides!
Very nice, we look forward to going back to the park. Next time a little earlier. You must have cash to get in!
Greeting was excellent. We hiked all around and found great views of the tributary. Quite a few areas to relax in the shade.
Great park to cycle to. Free entry for bikes. Clean bathrooms. Water fountain and nice view of the bay.
Great place for a walk! Clean park, and awesome place for kids to explore. Very nice view of the Bay!
Beautiful park. Nice paved trails, right on the Chesapeake bay. Beautiful scenery.
Nice place for a stroll along Chesapeake shore. Kids loved it! They can build their sand castle and dig in the sand forever!
One of my most favorite parks to go to! Set by the water and clear my mind
The park was nice!!! But, the picnic area was closed, and my children and I went there to eat and look at the ocean.
Beautiful park right on the Chesapeake. Lots of paved trails for families, strollers, dogs, running and walking.
Hiking and biking trails also serve as a nature walk. Great view of the Bay, very LARGE park with playgrounds and pavilions.
Nice view of the water. Good picnic areas with grills. Reservable pavillions. Fishing pier, but personally had no luck there.
Great park to bring your family.
Great place for a walk or just let the kids play at the playground.
Nice dog beach. Kind of smelled though like funky water. The rest of the park is very nice with paths.
Great park! Nice walking trails and views of the bay.
The new playground is amazing. Saw a bunch of turtles in the water. Everyone enjoyed the walk
This is a nice public park with beaches, trails, gardens, and even a avian exhibit. Also dog friendly.
Beautiful park. Great trails for walking or bike riding with great views of the Chesapeake Bay.
Pretty little park right on the bay that has a garden for weddings, a dog park and pavilions with park grills available to rent for parties.
Very clean well maintained park. Not crowded, lots of parking and friendly staff.
Love this park. Right on the water. Dog beach you won't find many other places. Very well maintained.
Nice views, well maintained park. Water fountains for animals
