Reviews of Carrier Park
Nice park, everything was clean. Cool concept for a speedway in the park. Bridges is a bit weird to access and get into the park. Hockey rink had great pavement, speedway had well maintained surface. Playground was clean.
Let me tell you something this park right here is a whole different place. It has so much to offer a roller skating rink a large track to walk or cycling and an amazing kids play ground for big kids and little ones they have 2 concted basketball courts. They also have 2 sand valley ball courts as well as large areas of open Grass fields and that's just in the main play are they also have miles of Trails that run along the water and are just so well maintained what a Beautiful place for the community we are from out of town and you could spend at least 1 whole day exploring all the things they have here so happy we stumbled apon it. My favorite part is its also completely wheelchair accessible. Felt very family friendly. They have 2 Porta pottys that were well maintained.
My son participated in his first 5k here. There was plenty of space for runners participating and those that came for their morning exercise. There's a smaller track that takes about 12 laps for a 3 miles jog/walk, and a larger track that encompasses the entire park. This park contains a space for skating, biking and other wheeled activities and a nice size playground where minting social distance is possible. I believe this space even connects to the River Arts trails. So glad this space exists for family events and more!
Done my first ever 5k in this park. It was amazing. To run by the river and on the trails. Some dirt and some paved. I was delighted and so happy to experience it. Especially with my son and his first 5k as well. It was the spooky run. I hope it becomes a ritual every year. So beautiful with the leaves changing.
One of my favorite places in Asheville! I’m here 5 days a week to workout, ride bikes, walk my dog, play frisbee, volleyball, etc. Opportunities are endless! Best park in AVL
Great spot! Would recommend and love updated volleyball sand for the courts!
Great park for families with a wide age spread — my 15 year old plays basketball, my 13 year old reads a book on the grass, my 8 year old uses the playground, and my toddler plays in the sand or uses the Melowdrome on his balance bike.
Our favorite playground! Super easy to park and play. Safe park with fencing all around. Has a track to run, bike, skate, or scooter! Hockey, basketball court and so much more! Always new friends to be found at Carrier Park!
Out of town review. Great park to stop at with young kids on a road trip. It’s not far off the highway - clean bathrooms - great play areas.
Great place, near to Downtown Asheville. Lots to do, inclined bike 1.5 mile track. Basketball, Huge kids area, White Sand Volleyball area, Roller Hockey the works.
Hockey. Love that I can play. Roller skating parties are fun too. Good volleyball courts, basketball courts, and velodrome. Restrooms are nice, but I am not a fan of the Porto potties.
Overall a nice place. The track around the park is great as well as the hockey rink and the basketball courts. The kids play area is one area that needs some attention. It is a wooden structure but there are several boards that are weak when you step on the and some of the equipment is broken. The play set does need some tlc and things like the rotten wood or broken or worn out equipment need to be fixed or replaced.
Cool velodrome, saw cyclists and skaters using it. Roller skating rink on site and sand volleyball and playground. Tons to do in addition to the trails along the river.
This park has it all! Next to the French Broad River. Great for riding bikes and walking/walking. It has beach volleyball courts, basketball courts, hockey rink, and a playground.
We love Carrier Park! There is a playground, basketball court, hockey area, and a track that goes around for bikes, scooters, etc. There is also a greenway that goes right past there so you can walk for miles.
I cant say enough about this park, my kids love it, they both have been at this john since infancy. They flip out if I say we are going and something happens. Besides for kids this is another great first date and last date spot. I love those. A river walk about 2 miles in length all in all ending at a dog park. Great jogging trail.
Great place for families;picnic spaces, big playground, basketball court and even hockey and biking trail.
Fantastic place. If you are looking for the playground, it's in the centre of the velodrome. It's an extensive one with all sorts of things for all ages. Velodrome is used by a variety of people and truly reflect a public space that encourages physical exercise. Basketball courts and friendly people are all part of the mix. We would definitely love to spend a bit more time here next time!
What an amazing park! It has a roller skating rink all the way around the perimeter of the entire park. Plus, the sand volleyball courts are phenomenal. The wooden bridge walkway is wonderful, and the playground for children is a great little oasis away from the city. I would definitely recommend this as a family-friendly park located in a convenient area of town. May the Lord bless you and keep you always as you enjoy His beautiful creation at this lovely outdoor venue.
This park is great. It is right next to a river and has a biking and jogging track. Also a really neat Geocache is located here!
Great Park for the whole family! We enjoyed the playground and the basketball court! If you have small kids take them to the bathroom before walking to the park area, it's a little far away. There are also some nice benches nearby to sit and eat. Would definitely come back!
Carrier Park is clean, safe, and has a wonderful assortment of areas to enjoy that include baseball/softball fields, sand volleyball courts, a bike track, a hockey rink, basketball courts and more. Clean bathroom facilities, a huge walking trail... I love playing Asheville Roller Hockey there!
Also great, fairly level, easy bike and walking trails next to the river and close to the Art District of Asheville. Lots of picnic opportunities.
The playground here is wonderful! There’s also basketball courts, sand volleyball courts, a skating rink, a cycling/running circuit, and probably more.
This is the former home of the Asheville Motor Speedway. It's now a 1/3 mile velodrome and walking track with in-line hockey and basketball courts as well as a large wooden playground for kids. Just outside the track is a lawn bowling area and public restrooms.
Great park right by the river with nice walking/bike trails. Pet friendly.
Circular track for bikes with lanes for speed differences. Playground for climbing, swings and slides, volleyball, basketball, hockey, etc. With wheelchair access.
In the area visiting pleasantly surprised had a little bit for everything from the kids to the grown ups one porta potty was less than satisfactory
I used to go to the races here a lot as a kid. Now it's been turned into a very nice family park. They have incorporated the track into the park, allowing use for biking and walking. Also, a small area dedicated to the history of the speedway, which I found very nostalgic. Lots of things for the kids to do, along with lots of walking areas along the river. definitely a nice place for the entire family.
Best park in Asheville, no arguement.. Huge park for kids of all ages, basketball courts, full track, baseball field, open field, picnic area. Swing sets are taken down currently for whatever reason but still a lot of fun.. My son loves coming here.. Nothing like FREE FUN OUTSIDE!
Well TODAY the park wore ne out! The weather was beautiful with the fall crispness in the air. I ended up walking/ running for over 4 miles! Wonder place to enjoy being outside.
Nice small park next to the river. Pretty setting, good place for kids or to go for a run or ride on the path
I've lived most of my life in and around Buncombe County, the home of Carrier Park. As the city of Asheville can be proud of its greenways, Carrier Park has to be the elite of parks in the area.
Built around the old "New Asheville Speedway", the park offers unique fun-filled family experiences, ranging from biking, walking, roller hockey, picnicking, and so much more. My time at the park recently was based on food, as family gathered for a meal, following a memorial service for a relative.
Though somber the mood, the love of family and friends in the park, alongside the French Broad River on a beautiful afternoon, brightened the spirits of everyone there. Though sheds are available, we chose to be out in the open on that sunny day. And as most days, the park didn't disappoint with plenty of families gathered to enjoy an autumn afternoon in Asheville.
If you're not familiar with Carrier Park, you have access to the track via a ramp/steps. Got a bike? Simply push it up and over the winding ramp and enjoy a "fantasy bike race" around the oval track, once used for stock car racing. Local legends raced in Asheville for years down by the river on Friday nights during the season. Now, with a memorial and a paved track still intact, that part of the park is preserved for other types of memories and fun entertainment.
I give the park a 4 Star review, selfishly I might add.
I was one of many thousands of fans that cherished my time at the speedway when I was just a boy. Friday Night Lights are known for its High School Football these days, but back in the 1970's, it was under the pretence of racing in Asheville. My favorite place to be on a Friday night back in the day, watching my favorite, Bob Presley and his red #54 whipping around the track, competing with other local racing legends, as racing fans from all over, like acting legend James Garner and others, come to enjoy the engines roaring into the night.
Reasons as to why the track closed is still argued in inner circles today. And racing fans still seem bitter as to why, and understandably so. But that doesn't mean, even though racing has been missing in Asheville for many years, even race fans completely understand the fact that the unique quality Carrier Park has much to offer the fair citizens of our community, and tourists alike.
Bored with the downtown scene and all the negativity that even a small city can bring in an atmosphere of discontentment? Try out an afternoon of fun at Carrier Park. Play some volleyball or ride a bike. Even bring a meal for later. Don't forget the chicken, I might be pretty hungry.
Oh, that's right! It's a public park, but unwanted guests looking for a drumstick isn't one's "cup of tea". I prefer thighs myself!
Oh, and one more thing, there has been flooding over the years, and Carrier Park has been under water often enough. Roller blade at your discretion during those times of, shall we say, "high tide".
Enjoy Carrier Park, and remember, there are still some good in the world, when there doesn't seem to be.
Lawn Bowling, Skate Park, Dog play area and all sports from Tennis, softball, baseball, etc.... Very nice park to chill at right off Downtown Asheville.
4 stars because I need there to be a bar here. I love my kids and I love this playground but holy balls I can only play with munchkins for so long!
Cool retired speedway. Still has track for anyone on wheels. Nice playground for toddlers too.
My dog decided to get in the river at Carrier park. Lol.
It was nice and spacious and a great place to spend some quality time outside with your dog! Get outside folks.
A huge park in West Asheville! This park has a huge wooden playground, basketball courts and a huge track where people rollerblade and ride bikes around. It's a cool set up because to get to the track you have to go up a ramp which takes you to the center of the park. Another great aspect of this park is the Greenway trail which connects to French Broad River Park.
This park has a lot to offer. It has beach volleyball courts, basketball courts, hockey arena, bike track, walking paths, and more! Beautiful location by the river as well.
Nice park but it pops up when looking for a dog park and there is none, it is actually further down the street at Riverview.
Can someone do me a huge favor and copy-paste this exact park to somewhere in north Charlotte? That would be great. Going over the board walk to enter gives it a different experience than any other park that I’ve ever been to.
This park is great for kids of all ages. It has a wonderful playground, basketball courts, hockey rink and plenty of green space!
Great park for all ages. They have a playground area, volleyball, basketball, running and walking track. Oh! And a rink for roller skates- rollerblading.
Good playground for kids to spend a few hours. Has a nice track amd trial to bike around.
This place has a playground inside of a paved velodrome which is surrounded by a park with walking trail. There are bridges connecting areas with stairs and ramps. Many families seemed to be enjoying the area, but there was plenty of space to spread out.
Our extended family had a great time here New Year's weekend. The grandparents, kids, and grandkids all enjoyed riding bikes on the track. My husband tried out his new electric bike too. When we tired of riding we parked and sat at one of the picnic tables. The playground had lots of climbing choices plus the traditional playground items. Kids of all ages were enjoying themselves. The walking trail out around the velodrome was busy too.
Great open area for exercising or taking the kids to the park. Beautiful walking trails alongside the river and a large playground for kids of all ages. Restroom facilities, basketball, volleyball, roller hockey and an old Asheville Speedway track to use for rollerblading or cycling. Something for everyone!
Went to an impromptu birthday party for my daughter's friend by the pavilion. There are trash cans and grills available, as well as many tables. Also there are trees good for climbing, can hold five little girls simultaneously
Had our department picnic there, great covered picnic area alot of space and ok parking.
Best Park I've ever been to! They have so much to do , coming from the coast I didn't know public parks like this existed! Hockey rink, kids parks and tot lot. Basketball court w bleachers, volley ball, handicap ramp access and don't forget the old race track that's for running, skating and bike riding etc. I feel like I'm forgetting something but THIS PLACE IS AWESOME! plenty of room to picnic and pet friendly!
Our child absolutely loves this park. Very well built and thought out
surprisingly large park that's got playground stuff for kids as well as a walking area for adults.
Very nice park with lots of things for kids to do but I wouldn’t recommend if you are handicapped because it’s a long walk to the playground over a bridge. It does have a ramp but it was difficult for us with 4 kids so I can’t imagine someone trying to do it with special needs.
Open air skating rink. Long and skateable paved running and biking track.
Lovely park by the river. Nice play structure, cool bike track, plenty of paths for walking.
So cool to have a playground inside an old racetrack! Loved the wooden play structure. My 7-year-old's favorite part was the tire swing underneath a hole you could climb up. My 3-year-old nephew liked the sandbox best.
Great place for kids of all ages. Friendly parents as well
Velodrome! Cool local park with lots of different people from different strokes using it. It was like a movie set park. Tons of people everywhere are just having a good time. Between the volleyball court, the basketball courts and the play set. Cool little gem of a Park.
Okay, wow. This place was cool. I went here on a whim with my son, and I will definitely be back! This place has something for everyone. Swings for every age, multiple playground/play forts, picnic tables, basketball, hockey, sand volleyball, a huge track for running, biking, ect. This place seriously has it all! I wish I was a kid again so I could go on all of the play sets!
This is the best park I have found in Asheville by far.
Nice park for small to older kids. Swings, numerous wooden structures with stairs and slides. Large bike and roller skating loop, basketball court, sand volleyball court, and a roller hockey rink. One handicapped- accessible swing.
Decent park, probably alot more beautiful when in bloom. Two parking lots plenty of space, be careful coming a day after it rains, it's a low point right next to a river and there is mud everywhere
HONESTLY, I wish it was still the race track, I MISS local racing!
It was nice, walking the track with my LOVE, seeing the different thing to do there.
Also the memories of my younger years going to watch the race!!
Super cool park with so much to do! I love the bike/walking path that takes you to Harmony Creek and French Broad River. Very family oriented. Very friendly people.
This is my go to park. I go for my dog needs, which has a fairly good dog park. It’s usually always a good trip there. Some fights I’ve seen but luckily nothing to serious. I ride my skateboard on the track which is pretty nice, and my daughter loves the playground. Sometimes it’s super overcrowded. I have also had some bad exchange’s with bicyclist riding super fast on slim walkways.
So many things to do here! great for roller skating
Very nice park to run or ride your bike
We go skating in the velodrome here and love to walk around the paved park trails. It's very fun and not crowded, a great way to get out in the sun!
Best lil spot to ride bikes.. Or anything for that matter... Right by the French Broad River.. Just such an awesome spot.. 💯👍 …
It was okay a little hot they need some more places for shade for people to see it when they're watching their grandkids run around and play and the water fountain did not work other than that it's a fairly nice place
Location is good to park if you want to bike along the River- but for biking purposes I rated the park a little lower. We ended up catching flat while we were here, and the repair station was missing several important parts that would have been useful. Bathrooms were what you expect at a public park- but really we only stayed around for 30 minutes.
Had a great time. It was fun walking around the old track and reading some of the history of the drivers, and then walked right up to the river, and walked a good ways on a paved walk way along the river. They have a nice campground bring your camper, not Shure if the have tent camping or not but all around it was a nice day to get out and walk and enjoy being outside. Had a lot of fun. Next time we are bringing the kids so they can play on the playground. The playground is in the grass in the middle of the old race track. It's great.
Great place for children's and adults. There's a 1/4mi. banked track for all ages suitable for young children on push scooters to adults on racing bicycle, all at the same time. Great design. There is also a large climbing structure for children, bocce ball, and Greenway.
Nice place for a family gathering. There're area for eating, playing basketball and sand volleyball, running and a wonderful kids' playground. There sanitary facilities were available, clean and with the corresponding supplies.
Great park, lots of wild edibles here!
This park is awesome! I come to rollerskate the track and within the rink and I love it. It would also be a great place to bring kids- it also has a playground, sand volleyball, basketball, and a big field!
PERFECT for ALL ages...bicycle on a track, play ball on a court, have a picnic under the trees, take your little ones on to the really thought-out playground, and have yourself a full day! Our family of 4 had a really nice time.
Love this park! We skate and bike around the velodrome track, skate on the roller rink and play on the grass, vb courts and playground. Plus we love the beautiful walking paths near the river. It's got something for everyone!
Best park in town for children and adults. So much to do! Skating, biking, basketball, hockey, exercise classes, volleyball, and even Lawn bowling (whatever that is). There is also a nice little trail to walk along the river here. Highly recommended!
I had alot of fun in the Park. The Unity Day event was done very well. The games and guest speakers made my day.The weather was great and the food..Especially the deep Fried FISH! I participated in the Spades Card tournament...I made it to the championship however the Rules Director could not stop an over aggressive opponent that believed the championship was not the best 2 out 3...They won the first game got up and took the trophy and drove off..:(
Greatest park in North Carolina hands down. They have so much to do there
Oh my goodness I wish I had a park like this near me it legit has everything you need. Track, playground, hockey, basketball, fields all “fenced in” to access this area you have to cross the bridge. They also had a walking path around the hole park we did not venture on the other side which had a lot more things as well definitely worth checking out
Great park! Paved trail, green fields, lawn bowling, hockey area, and a track for skating or speed riding. Always full of families enjoying the outdoors. The river has kayaking.
Nice park right outside Asheville. Lots of amenities. My daughters loved the castles.
Nice park, kids love to play ,there is bicycle lane which can be used for multiple ways like for roller blades,scooters..bit no public restrooms I didn't see, only vault toilet
Love this park! It's very big. There's a track to walk around, skate on, push your little one in a stroller, ride your bike, jog on. It's very open and I feel safe there with my little guy. Get plenty of exercise at this park! And the kids get to release the extra energy they have 😊! …
Awesome park, but there's always someone smoking weed. The last time I took my children, we all witnessed a scary guy yelling at 3 kids. There seems to be a problem of some sort everytime we go.
Fantastic park with lots of sporting options and a trail along the river.
Multi-use park by the river for athletics, dog walks, biking, etc. Greenway connects to other parks along West Asheville
A really nice park with lots of great amenities, there's even a velodrome! I don't think I've ever seen that in any other public park ever. There is tons of green space, sidewalks and trails as well. This is a great place to walk your dog, get outside for some exercise and fresh air, or take a picnic and just relax.
Super fun place for the kids. Playground, basketball court and skating rink inside a bicycle track! How fun!
Carrier Park is uniquely designed and a favorite park of mine. It has: open, grassy space; sandy volleyball courts; baseball fields; a roller hockey rink; and a wonderful playground that is being upgraded. The track that surrounds the inner park has a slanted outer edge typical of a racetrack (due to the fact that is was a racetrack for many years). There are also other trails surrounding the park for bike riding, walking, running, etc. 😄
This is one of the most beautiful parks I’ve ever been to! I just moved to Asheville and I’ve never seen such a nice park. Everyone was respectful of the social distancing for the most part, and stayed within their family/friend groups. There’s so much to do here!
A beautiful area sitting by the shore of the French Broad, plenty of wide open spaces for public activities, not to mention that it's not too far from the River Arts District. Excellent for modeling and filming shoots, community events, weddings and summer sports!
Former race track along the French Broad river turned into community park for biking, volleyball, roller hockey and huge play structure for the little ones. Also connects to the French Broad river park via a bike/ walking path along the river. Nice clean spot for families to enjoy together
A really nice park with activities for all ages. Bicycle trails and walking trails that are relatively easy, picnic with shelters are onsite. Since the park is located next to the French Broad River kayaking, tubing, and canoeing are available. Its great to be at the park than stuck inside.o
Always so much to do. Bike riding and walking, trail are the primary reason for our visits. The wood playground is nice as well.
Always fun, clean an mostly safe..
Carrier park is a good flat track for walking. Many people like to take their dogs here. You can get on a dirt side path if you want to take in a view of the water. It's not a large area to walk but a good place to get fresh air, and there are picnic tables if you want to picnic.
Great activity area. We just did the playground but the bike track and other amenities looked great. Most all the parents at the playground wore masks which was nice to see even outdoors.
Very different from many parks I've been to, but it has some cool stuff including a skating risk in the middle of a retired circular race track that has been converted to a running track bicycle track skating track.... with there corresponding lanes. It is big and (for those not familiar with the common western North carolina landscape) it is very flat... which is rare around here, so it is great for running and biking skating.
I'm a marine Poolee and my local recruiting office meets there to practice our workouts, so there is plenty of room to run, and workout. I high recommend this place. Very good and has a little variety in compared to some other parks.
Love this park but you need to be ready for a lot of walking to get inside
A great park by the river. Be awesome if the race track was still around. But. You wonna run your kids to sleep this big wide open park is the park for you.
Great park to bring the family. Very well put together playground, basketball, a full enclosed rink, a banked race track ( formerly for car racing), now an interesting track for biking. The whole park is along the side of a beautiful River, which you can enter into for all manner of water activities.
Well maintained, great playground, track for biking, walking, jogging, scooters, roller blades, etc... clean restrooms, and there are bike tools/pump provided here! Playground/ basketball courts/ beach volleyball courts/ roller hockey rink and grassy area are all enclosed by the track that surrounds it, so kids and balls can't escape to the parking lot or street. No dogs inside that area, but there is also a fantastic partially shaded path that is adjacent ti the enclosed area. It's paved and has some optional trail sections that runs along the river here (outside of the enclosed space. There are a few pavilions too. Versatile park!
It's not too bad. There is lots of space to play in and to walk/ride around. Some of the terrain near the playground needs some gravel to fill the low areas.
Great place to unwind from the city environment. Trails to walk, grass to lounge on. Place to play ball or throw a frisbee.
Great park, definitely the best in Asheville, wonderful shady trail along the river, totally dog friendly..
One of our favorite family play spots in Ashevegas -- nice playground and some pleasant spots to access the French Broad, plus you can easily connect to it via the Greenway in the river district. Only kicker is that there's very little shade on the playground itself.
I love this park. It’s by the river and is a great place to walk, run, ride, or my favorite, play Pokémon go. The people seem happy to be there and there are places to play street hockey, volleyball and basketball that are often busy in a nice way. It’s really relaxing and one of my favorite parts of the city.
Great little park to walk around and check out some wildlife and the river. Kind of busy but there are some longer trails from the parking lot that go up to a summit. Oh yeah, bring your fly rod if you're into that.
One of my family's favorite parks in Asheville. The banked track is a great place for kids to ride bikes. Great park for running; you can do laps on the trails around the park or access the greenway system.
Carrier Park is an awesome place to spend a warm sunny day. It is family and pet friendly. There is even an old race track open to all of the skateboarders/longboarders, bikers and such. If you like to explore there are several places throughout the park and the the left and right of the the park that hold amazing little hidden trails and spots for just taking in the view that are well worth the search. All together this park is great for anyone looking to spend some time in the good ol' out doors.
Carrier Park is a multi-purpose outdoor recreational facility along the French Broad River in Asheville. Though compact in size, Carrier Park attracts individuals of all ages. Carrier park offers sport facilities for baseball, soccer, volleyball, basketball, and even inline hockey. For those who enjoy a more gentle outdoor experience, there is even a bocce ball court. There are multi-use walking and bicycle paths for visitors of all ages to experience. On a recent visit, I enjoyed a circular walk of 1 1/2 miles around the facility and the surrounding banks of the French Broad River.
The star attraction of Carrier Park is the 1/3 mile velodrome. For those unaware of its history, NASCAR held dirt track races here from the early 60s to around 2000. The land was eventually purchased and gifted to the city. The city upgraded the track to the banked circular bicycle track you see today. The velodrome is formerly recognized by USA Cycling Association but is more commonly referred to as the mellowdrome by locals. The term describes the mild banking to which riders of all ages of fixed bicycles can enjoy whatever level of riding experience you hold.
I very much enjoyed my time at Carrier Park, and I hope you all give it a visit soon yourself. I think you will come away just as satisfied.
I love this park, you can play volleyball, basketball, there's plenty of space for kids to play, you can ride ur bike around the track, get in the French broad if that's really what u wish to do. So much room for fun
I really enjoy this park, especially going on runs. It's great to start at French Broad River Park, then go the 2.5 miles down to Hominy Creek Park and back. Carrier is in the middle, and it's a nice stop for water it restrooms if needed. The playground is fun for the kids, and the mellowdrome is always interesting to watch.
An amazing park along the French broad river! It connects you to many other trails leading to the dog park or the french broad greenway. Flat land for many activities. Many groups are able to play numerous types of games and sports because it is wide open in many areas. Many shady spots to lounge and read. Perfect of a walk or run.
Great park and place to ride bike. Construction on bike track now but will be great once finished. Only 4 stars though because the bathroom is so far from the actual playground. Hard when you have little ones that need to potty right away.
Now that the track is redone, this place is great for biking, skating, roller-blading, there is a playground section for kids (and a sub-section for the smallest ones) with swings, there is a basketball court, a roller-blade hockey rink, trails, river access, a baseball field, and restrooms. It's great.
Recently updated hockey rink and basketball courts have done a lot to bring this park ahead.
Excellent use of riverfront floodplain land! We love going here to walk, picnic, and read. The only major shortcoming, like most city parks, is that it needs more food foresting and poly-culture ground cover!
I love carrier park it is the best park around here and it is so fun my friends and I go there to practice basketball when the gym isn't available i love it. I have been going there since I was 2. You can play volleyball ride your bike play basketball, hocky, baseball and so much more. Plus it's right by the river. It's a family friendly park I totally recommend going there.😊😁🏞🚲
Fun little park for younger kids. My kids are 10 and 12 they still managed to enjoy themselves as we were burning time.
This is one of our favorite parks in Asheville. Lots of playground equipment, other kids, race track is great for bikes, and you can walk down to check out the river.
Cool park with nice amenities but they do not allow dogs inside the velodrome which is where the basketball courts and large playground area are. Kind of a bummer being from out of town, packing up the hound to come with in this amazing dog friendly city, and then not being able to take him in to a public park. My wife took the kids to the playground as they had their heart set, and I had to stay outside the walls with the dog. I must say I was shocked based on how dogs are typically accepted everywhere in Asheville.
It's a great park... Gets a little crowded for me, I guess that's part of being a great park
I come to Carrier Park these day's with my children. They love it!. But actually I myself have been coming to Carrier Park when it was a car race track. Back in 1990 was the first time I watched a car race there!. They also held the annual Carnival there!. A church that I use to attend had their annual 4th of July Cookout at the Pavillion at Carrier Park!. I have had a great time at Carrier Park over the past 30+ years. And hope to have many more great years of fun, and laughter at Carrier Park!.
I hope that you too, have great laughter, and fun at Carrier Park, whether you're with family or by yourself!!!!.
I occasionally take my son to this park. Some of the playground equipment is not taken care of well, or partially falling apart. But it serves its desired purpose, he loves it. The biggest thing I find as an issue is the fact that the bathrooms are a distance from the playground. When you have a younger child that is near potty training age, trying to get over the bridge fast enough is stressful.
Carrier Park is a fantastic place to have nearby. The facilities are usually in good shape, things are lit at night, the have good volleyball courts. It's always busy, and parking is sometimes hard to find, but the lot on the left side when facing the river is almost never full in my experience.
Paths connect with other parks to allow for longer distances, good parking, nice places to sit, and public restrooms. Also, the track is a unique feature not seen in other parks. River access also a big draw.
I love this park. Lots of shady trees, a path around the park close to the river, and an amazing play ground. Vollyball courts with sand, a padded basketball court, a street hockey rink and a walking/ bike riding track. Literally everything. Bathrooms and a gazebo.
Visited this park while on vacation and while it looks a little shady/scary as you get there, I felt perfectly safe once I was inside. Lots of people everywhere exercising, kids and families playing, people playing sports, and people relaxing and enjoying nature. Loved the velodrome!!!
Lots of space to let the kids run and play. Volley ball nets , basketball court, walking or biking or scooter track. A trail by the river and lots of Poke'stops and pokemon gyms if your into that kinda thing like my kids.
Wow...amazing park! Our lil guy loved the wooden "fortresses" and slides. Pretty impressed by the roller hockey rink, too! Wife says cleanest public restrooms she's used in a while.
Good sized park. Has track for running, biking, and rollerblading. There is also a hockey rink and basketball court.
The playground which is what we went for is of need of repair. It it mostly wood and most of that wood is really old. Several planks are ready to break when walked on. It is a creative castle like setup which was cool.
This is the best city park in the AVL hand's down, and one of the best places for bike rideing in the area. Not only are the connecting bike paths very convenient, but the oval track is the star of the show, not just for the bike, but for roller skating also. There is also an interesting monument here showcasing the history of the park from the day's when it was a race track. I recommend Carrier Park to locals and visitors alike for outdoor activities.
Great place for kids to play or ride bikes while the parents get some steps in around the track.
I have had many pleasant walks along the river-side path ways here. Nice place to walk dog or spend time outside. Can do a short walk or go all the way to the end of a paved trail that connects the end of the park to another one farther out. Mostly away from traffic except for a piece of connecting sidewalk that skirts around a fenced out polluted section. If that area would be cleared and the trail joined there, I would give five stars.
*I would highly recommend only going during the day time unless you are looking for trouble or shady circumstances.
The western section of this park is fairly nice with walking paths that have plenty of shade, but the further east you go the sketchier it gets. I have found hypodermic needles here and had interactions with homeless people here as well.
A TON of pokestops. Great trails. Plenty of room to ride bikes on sidewalk and on/off track. Hockey rink, playground and a big dog park. Great for picnics. TONS of tables for outdoor parties. Clean, nicely maintained grounds. Love to go and ride bikes!
There is something for everyone in my family at carrier park. I love that it's the old Asheville racetrack. Plenty of walking paths. A huge playground. Basketball court. Roller hockey rink. The bridge over the track to get in is a bit inconvenient. But overall we love coming here.
Currently the ground is very wet and mushy and muddy. but that's not the grounds cheaper spot where you just have a lot of rain lately. I love having some place to go to fly a kite with my granddaughter.
Good place to relax. Take the kids to bike or play in the kids area. Good place to walk for exercise also. We had a birthday party there today under the pavilion. Great except for the stink bugs.
This park is so incredibly unique! If you are in Asheville make a pit stop here with your kiddos.
Great park for a day outside. With lots to do; a old circle race car track that is used by bicycle now, 2 beach volleyball courts (minus the surf), basketball court, hockey rink, baseball diamond , bocce ball, great playground for the kids. With a pavilion, restrooms, and lots of parking it's great for outside parties. There's a walking / running / biking loop trail that gives access to the French Broad River Greenway, it starts in the park, continues along the river one way to French Broad River Park then the other end to Hominy Creek River Park.
Avoid if there has been any rain recently. Paths get flooded out easily and turn into large slippery mud pits. It's been a long time since the mulch has been renewed along the river paths.
Carrier Park is one, if not, my favorite park to visit with my family. There is 2 main playgrounds being aged based (1-5yrs),(7&up). The park also has a volleyball net with white sand, makes anyone feel like they are slapping a ball on the beach! Not to mention a hockey ring, so bring some skate's! It's a great location and also is nestled right beside the French Broad River. So many things to do and get into at Carrier Park!!
Is a great park, typically has a lot of people there. My 4 year old loves the playground, and it offers so much.
Ran the path and the trail.
Ran to French Broad River Park for more miles.
The velodrome looked cool. Kids on bikes were having fun.
Kids love it! Time of the day is very important though, too early or too late and you have a lot of people just hanging out. Unfortunately before I really let the wild ones run I do a needle check, at least half the time there are a few that need cleaned up.
I like walking here with my dog because it is flat, spacious and there are shaded trails if you like. Also rode a bike in here which was nice. Not too crowded during the week.
Outstanding park with creative repurposing of the old raceway. Intricate playground. Ample sporting opportunities for runners, cyclists, basketball, roller hockey, lawn bowling (!), and beach volleyball. The only reason I give it four stars is that a lot of the woodwork (particularly on the playground) is showing its age. Still strongly recommend for any family looking for a perfect picnic spot.
Great place to ride bikes.
We love Carrier park! Great location down on the river with tons of space to run, dog walk, or play a pick up game of Lougee ball. Amenities include Lawn bowling, softball field and even a recently refurbished velodrome along with several open fields. There are bathroom facilities as well. Look for the jungle gym, dual sand volleyball courts and roller rink inside the velodrome.
Hosted an event here last fall, great park with a pavilion big enough for about 15 people socially distanced. Beware of the incredible amount of stink bugs in the fall months, though.
Great park! Nice and safe. Always plenty of activity. I love the greenways and bike or run them almost daily. I like that this park connects to the French Broad River park and the Hominy Creek park. It will be exciting to see this greenway system grow in Asheville. The park has sprawling green lawns, great for lounging in the sun or having picnics. If you don't like the sun, there is also a huge gazebo with outdoor grills where I often see people having gatherings. Parking is pretty ample, at least in the evenings. I definitely think this is the best park in the Asheville area.
Feels like an adult playground! We love roller blading around the track. Decent lighting as the sun goes down.
Nice park with lots to do.
Great place for small children teens bicycles walking basketball roller hockey!!! Historic nascar track was paved over here. Original oval is now the bike track!!!! NASCAR history!!
Love Carrier Park, especially the velodrome and rink to skate in.
Great place to get in some bike training when you want to maintain a steady effort! Cons: track can be busy at peak times during the weekend.
A wonderful park that was converted from a stock car track many years ago. Everything youd want to do is inside this park, and the track is something amazing I've never seen before. I wish we had these in florida but props to Asheville for making this park free and worth it to visit with kids, family, or friends
Not a bad park for a quick stop from a long road trip. Needs more direction on how to get to the actual park, we had to jump a fence with a stroller and cross a racetrack to get in. Note, the entrance is over the big deck bridge as this was not clear to someone that had never been there.
Nice park on the banks of the Broad River. It is part of a long French Broad River Greenway. The park has a number of trails mostly shaded by beautiful trees. At the center is a large complex of sport and play section.
This is such a cool, wooden castle park. It's huge and filled with great details. Kids of all ages will love spending time here.
Still leading Yoga in the Park classes after 4 yrs, er love the serene space this park has to offer! Join us out there every Saturday & Sunday ☺️ ceceyogini.com
Had my car broken into in broad daylight years ago. Finally decided to come back to the playground with my kid and love it although I'm not sure why they can't have a better way to access the play area besides the 30 minute journey across the pointless ramp walkway thing.
Love this park, so nice to be outside to enjoy so much you can do with your family or go for a hike or just jog or bicycle ride, just great to have near us in our area!
Very fun place! Great for running, walking, biking, foraging, meditating, hammocking, slacklining, frisbee, and going on on dates. Beautiful location with lots of space.
I came and skated here starting a few weeks ago and I love the park and there is a pretty good parking situation. Cool place to exercise or have a picnic at ^~^💖 …
A smaller part of a large cluster of parks, this is a must-see. Has everything from walking trails to speed tracks and volleyball courts. A highlight of the Asheville park system.
Very nice place to take the family.
This particular visit different from past visits because of CoVid but it was still a good place for walking, chatting with your friends and family, people watching, and tubing. Be prepared for the hot weather and no shade though, except for the rentable eating area.
Good place to walk, playground, basketball, hockey, bike race track.
Really as far as parks go it's the bee's knees.
Great park for multiple types of family play. Greenway walk was very nice.
Perfect place for running, playing, relaxing, meditating, larping... You name it. Beautiful trails along the French Broad River, with miles of contiguous greenway and sidewalk connecting this park to two other parks on either side. One of my favorite free places in Asheville.
Great place to explore by the river also its in the middle of 3 dif parks all connected by the Greenway, a paved pathway great for walking our dogs
Nice location but the park a bit dirty. Could use sime sod in places and a bit more landscaping. It was a bit crowded when I was there late afternoon and not everyone was practicing social distancing and wearing of masks.
Good place to walk the dog, although a bit crowded. Only place in town that has a lawn bowling green.
Diverse park offers something for almost everyone...Walking, running trails, playground, hockey field, baseball field, bocce lawn, pavilion for picnics, and public restrooms & parking. Operated by Asheville Park's and Recreation. Make sure vehicles are locked & secure to deter possible thefts.
Nice park! There is a playground, basketball court, bike/roller skate/skateboard/running tract. Also picnic tables and a little green space.
The ice rink is looks brand new. The play area for children looks very nice and new but the walking area around has a slight slant to it hard to walk on. Looks like a pretty nice and safe place though.
This is a very nice park for family activities. Playground, roller hockey rink, basketball court, velodrome, soccer field, restrooms, and a walking/biking trail along the French Broad River.
Such a great park! Lots activities available and enough space for every one to enjoy and stay distanced.
Really cool Park. Never quite seen anything like it. Plenty of parking and had something for everyone. Good use of government money for sure which is rare
Great place to meet up for a walk, ride, or sprints on the track. Many activities in a small area. Sand volleyball court as well.
Very nice park, have absolute everything to have a fun days with the kids all ages.
A wonderful place to walk, jog, or play. The city of Asheville does a good job of cleaning up after flooding. The only downside is they need to replace some of the signs that show the wildlife that live there.
Great place for roller skating
Love this place all kinds of things to do. They have a big park for kids, bike track, access to the river, baseball field, volleyball court, bocce ball. My family loves it.
Recently found this park. Has a lot to offer. Walking trail, wooden playground, lawn bowling, hockey rink, basketball, really to many activities to mention all! It is under a lil construction right now. We expect to visit a lot more on our trips to ashville!
Great place to ride your bike, play basketball, and Rollerblade. As of August 23rd, they took out the swings from the playground. If it wasn't for that, I would give it 5 stars.
I visited the other day for the first time in a long time and was so happy to see everybody outside enjoying the spring weather.
We love this park. They have an inline skate hockey ring, tire swing, sand volleyball ball, basketball court, track for bikes and lots of trails some even paved.
Park is beautiful, thought it was Ashville memorial park.... Google may need to fix, but that place was awesome , all sorts of space for all sorts for an active live style!!!
Great clean park! Amazing place to take the kids. All day long fun
Great park along the river. Some picnic benches and both paved and dirt paths make it accessible.
Great location off the river and something for everyone to do - playground for children, basketball courts, sand volleyball court, roller hockey rink, baseball field, and plenty of extra space to find some other activities or just relax.
Best Park in Asheville. If your sports driven or just want to walk the Greenway, this place is for you.
I always have a good time here. Lots of acreage to wander in and a good spot for various activities from soccer, picinics, and rollerblading to people watching and dipping in the river
This park is a beautiful green, peaceful space to walk through, picnic, or just take a mindful rest. Nice place to go with family as well.
Nice park! Took our dog there and hiked around. Has something for everyone! Roller blading, speed biking, biking, hiking, and...a bocci ball court?
Good flat place to walk, play, have a picnic, do yoga, ride a bike etc... I always enjoy my time here!
Great space for lots of activities. One of the only smooth paved tracks and outdoor rink for roller-skating.
It's okay park not many trails. Good other things
Love walking the dog here, part of what adds up to like a four‐ish mile walk along the French Broad River from where Patton Ave Bridge crosses over down to Hominy Creek Rd (near the transfer station).
Not perfect but it is a work in progress. Walk or ride bike from Hominy Creek greenway through Carrier to the French Broad River Park. This is a great place for dogs. This is home.
Great park with plenty of space. Great for rollerskating and skateboarding.
Good park for running. I really enjoy the annual Mountain Sports Festival that is held there. It's a good park to take kids to the playground.
Close to the house, easy river access my pups love going here
Large playground area for kids.
This park is amazing. Take a stroll, go lawn bowling, ride your bike, take a tube to the river, and so much more to do here. LOVE IT.
Great places for the kiddos, they love to go and play. They park has great history also, being it was once a race track. I'm glad they keep it maintained.
Open fields for dogs right on the French Broad River. Several dog poop bag stations too. Walking trails, clean reatrooms.family friendly. Summertime yoga.
Large park next to a beautiful river, all types of courts and play structures. Everything a good park needs!
Let me explain something: Ball is life. My guys and I like to go here throughout the week. If you see a group playing ultimate frisbee or football, and you want to join, just ask.
Great park to take a break from window shopping with the family in Asheville. The playground was great and there were a lot of people riding bikes, playing basketball and just enjoying the afternoon.
Topnotch park! It has a raceway for bike riding, and rollerblading. They even have a small hockey rink for rollerblading. I'm not sure if when it snows the rink floor turns into ice as it melts
Lots of nice walking trails! Most are paved but, not usually muddy on the ones that aren't. Great place to bike, as well
Huge park spaces along the river with all the park desires you might have with a variety of great views and trails.
I miss the race track but my kids really enjoy the park and the city of Asheville has done a wonderful job at the park and now it can be enjoyed by everyone
This is a great park!
Turning the old Asheville Motor Speedway into a bicycle velodrome was an awesome idea. Something for everyone here!
Nice park, great for kids of all ages. Biking, walking and playgrounds. The river and the picnic areas are all very nice.
Good place to ride a bike or go for a jog. However, it's a very busy park. If you go later in the evening it gets a bit sketchy. Go earlier in the day.
If it's crowded, parking can be difficult, but the walks and trails are worth the hassle. Plus, they have a skate park and lawn bowling.
Great Kids playground. And fun track to ride bikes, Rollerblade, and scooters. Kid friendly track as well
The park was a bit dirty and muddy, but it was a nice park. There are many dogs and a port-a-potty. There is also good access to the river.
Great park. Lots of space and walking trails. Beautiful views. Tons of activity areas for kids and adults. Also great for Pokémon Go.
Clean family park. Wish there was more swings and equipment for smaller kids (like under 4) but overall they had alot of fun
Favorite place to take the dogs and do a casual bike ride.
lovely park! absolutely enjoyed laying on a blanket and watching everyone doing their activities 🙂 …
So much nature!!! Also ptetty cool picnic area with a few outlets to plug into. The trails are very well maintained.
Lovely park with many playgrounds and things to do and is sooo beautiful.
Huge park was the old race track you can still use the track to roller skate or ride bikes and they have a roller hockey rink
Lots to do at this former race track turned public park. From roller hockey to dog walking, there's something for all ages and activity level.
I enjoy taking my grandchildren to Carrier Park because of all it has to offer, and planning a picnic is fun for all of us.
Excellent facilities for kids of all ages...
Nice park for walk along the river. Walk in sun or shade there are many beautiful trees
A really nice park. Beautiful places to walk, bike, or picnic. It has a great playground for the kids too
My daughter's favorite park plus we love the French Broad River trail. Great to ride a bike or walk on!!! 💘 …
Always enjoy this park. Lots of things to do, from practicing your roller hockey to doing laps of the velodrome.
Event happens from August until October in Carrier park ..movies, activities, live band in the park. Each patron receives an inner tube to sit on so everyone can see the movie. Great idea!
It was ok but they need to have restrooms at both ends of the park. I am disabled and it was to far and to difficult to get to the restroom.
Beautiful. That's all, folks!
Great park with plenty to do for children and adults of all ages. Bring the whole family and have a wonderful time all day...
This is a wonderful park for all ages. It we very busy with people playing in the park, playing basket ball, volleyball, riding their bikes, and walking the trails.
I just visited for the first time and I am completely impressed. This place is amazing, it's a park and so much more. Something for everyone, literally. We will definitely be back.
Good place to walk the dog and enjoy a dirty river. Dog park is big and usually brings a good turn out of pups.
Ran a 5k here last weekend, first time at the park. Can't wait to give it another shot on my own. Not a ton of parking, and a tough turn to get into the parking area.
Nice little park with a small hiking area by the river. They also have a, biking track, basketball courts and some picnic areas.
Plenty of room to run. There's even a bicycle track. I think my only complaint would be some areas in the evening are not shaded on the walkways.
Awesome park but disappointed that the restrooms were out of order... My toddler about had an accident because we had to make it back to the car and drive down the road .
Even after a storm, the care takers cleaned the trail so we could continue our enjoyment.
I love this park. I ride along it or through it all the time. If your wanting to get the true feel of Asheville this is the place to go! It is awesome!!!
Great Park... Unfortunately all visiting the park do not adhere to social distancing. This behavior is disrespectful to fellow citizens who may be at high risk if they were to contract covid 19
So much fun. After the playground fun we go to the dog park at French broad river.
Really nice park. Lots of things here to do. Walking, biking, trails. Croquet. River. Cool place.
Very nice for active children of all ages. Lots of games and facilities to enjoy 😉 …
It's a great park for the family with a great playground, hockey court, basketball court, volleyball net, track, and picnic areas.
Great play area for the kids. Good walking loop. Bathrooms, yay.
Spacious park with lots of stuff to do. However, it needs better maintenance.. water fountain next to basketball court is clogged.
Has a really cool castle gym, its neat. I like to sit in the slide and think about my mistakes sometimes. It makes the world seem smaller.
Beautiful place to walk, jog ,relax or even take your dog for a walk.
Great park for everyone. Has online rink, kids playground, bike and walking track
It's largely flat. The park is often too crowded. In multiple spots there's no good way to continue forward via bike.
Great park with several different facilities to offer for everyone! Always something fun to do at Carrier!
My daughter loved this playground! Old school style made with wood and composite to prevent splinters. Really cool place to bring the kiddos
I've been going to this park for years. It's connected to Amboy park that stretches a long ways. Volleyball court, asjrtball court and an old fashioned circular racetrack for biking. Hockey court also.
Large park with many areas for families to play! Sandy area for volleyball, a playground, walking tracks, as well as a race track for riding bikes on!
good for dogs, picnics, playing soccer etc. nice long greenway runs along the river and connects to Amboy Park with a fenced-in dog park. love it!
This park was GORGEOUS and was a great place to swing by and relax. Amazing playground for kids too. Highly recommend.
Great place to walk, lots of different paths, some by the river. A nice playground and places to ride bikes.
I went poking around looking for heavy water. It is there in abundance and now I can perform all of my evil nuclear experimentation with ease. The slides are kick a$$.
Good walking/biking paths. New gym equipment but taped off for covid. Will likely be a favorite for kids after covid.
This is a great park with lots of parking. You can ride your bike, walk or even find a place to put your kayak in the water!!
I liked how pretty it is and nice view of river i wanted to walk my pups but mine are antisocial so i cut it short so i didnt bother other people
Had a clinical cookout there just 2 weeks ago loved it all sorts stuff to do river, roller Derby English lawn bowling ( had to look that up myself) all sorts of things to do.
We love coming here! Always clean and a nice park to visit. Have a good variety of things to do.
The park looked really fun sadly the playground us still closed. But it was fun to be able to use the track still.
not the most beautiful park but great for a run. Also has playground, roller hockey court, basket ball goals, and bike track.
Great place to walk yourself or your dog, great for kids nice play ground and a track to do laps on your bike
Great place to take walks and ride bikes. There is the old Asheville Motor Way where you can ride bikes or jog. Pretty cool
Well first of it was a beautiful day... I walked around carrier park and had an awesome time.. Over all it was a great experience today.. Lot's kids..
It's a nice park. Honestly it gets a little smelly sometimes because of perhaps the river, but it's a nice park none-the-less.
Nice walking trail. Lots of dogs walked here. Green grasses. Lots of parking available. Easily accessible off the highway.
Great Park. Plenty of walking/biking paths. Go and play volleyball, basketball, hockey and bring kids to the playground.
It's a fun comfortable small park definitely a go to spot in Asheville .
I love the bustling atmosphere of this park, river activities, bikes, runners, walkers, Boche ball, BBQ or a picnic all happening.
Cool park! Volleyball, basketball, playground, track loop for walk/skate/bike and more
Nice park with a playground, hockey area, and walking trails.
Very clean and lots of green open spaces to run, cycle, picnic and play. Very family and dog friendly. Very convenient location.
Love this place! Great loop for skating! People having fun, good vibes everywhere!
Great park, just wished the bathrooms were a little cleaner and the water fountains worked properly.
So much to do with the old race track as a bike track now, baseball field with rugby games on Saturday afternoons; and down at the end the Riverside dog park. Sundays the larpers come out
Awesome wooden playground for kids. Plenty of open area around with a hockey rink and bike track
Best park in Asheville. Bike track. Hockey rink. Basketball goals. Volleyball area. Nice playground.
Great park, lots of grass, playground, basketball court, hockey court, lap track and so much more.
Great place for grandkids to blow off some energy! Wish it he had a couple of Law Officers patrolling though.
The new Carrier Park is terrific. We will have to take our bikes the next time for the velodrome.
Nice and serene riverside park in Asheville. It made for a good spot for an after dinner walk.
Nice park with walking trails that connect to other area parks. Feels safe.
Awesome park, plenty to do for our 18mo!
Nice place to get your family out for some fresh air, nice walking path and play ground for the kiddos 😀 …
Lovely park, spent lots of time there, love the river expansion. Clean and comfortable.
Pretty, good running paths, close to the local community college where I went. Met some slackliners and tried it out. It's hard to balance on such thin straps. Kudos to them.
it really is a beautiful park 💞 its more of a lake right now because of the flood lol but its nice …
Best Park in the area. Try it you won't be dissapointed.
Huge park on the river with lots to do. Lawn bowling, hockey, biking, playsets, baseball, basketball, and lots of lawn areas to play.
Great walking paths. Awesome track for biking. One of the best playgrounds in Asheville.
An amazingly beautiful park with plenty of space and things to do. Can't wait to bring the children back
I miss the Asheville Motor Speedway, and detest the politics that lead to it closing. But, to have that area remain a vibrant hub of activity for the community means a lot.
A great place to exercise and take to kids. In addition, the bike track is awesome.
Really cool place. Has a skate park volleyball courts baseball fields
Didn't go for the park. Went to see the old Asheville Speedway which was on this site. Great Nascar history on this site
Fantastic picnic, play & relaxing options. Went there for an outdoor movie event - so much fun!
We like to walk on the trails. Great for walking, running, in-line roller hockey, and picnics.
Great place to workout in a morning calisthenic routine. It's beautiful and safe. Love it. 😎🤙 …
Great family fun
Roller hockey there is awesome and there is a good park for kids to play as well as basketball courts.
This park is great, and is the perfect place to ride a skateboard or a onewheel :-)
Glad to see the newly paved track inside the park. Great for biking, roller blading and walking.
Wonderful River Park with a nature trail that has educational plaques telling you all about the local wildlife, right on the river!
Nice place to spend time outside. Mellowdrome for spinning pedals, highly recommended.
We love this park. Theres so much to do and it is always filled with nice people.
Great location for biking, walking and running. True family location.
Mary is beautiful. Bella on the river vibrate.
This is my favorite park, plenty of wildlife and shady places to sit and enjoy the weather
City park with lots of bikes. If you're going to walk or run you'll be moving over a lot for bikes. Not as busy in the mornings
Great family place but not for anyone allergic to dogs. alot of people bring their dogs here but theres no dog poop anywhere.
Great kid playground, basketball court, volleyball, and a roller hockey rink with bike track around it right on the river.
Great place for your kids to have fun.
Great walking trails, dog park, playground. Scenic views of the river though factories as well..
My favorite park to take my son in Asheville.
A nice park but one you would still want to keep your eye on your kids in.
Nice riverside park with connecting FLAT trails for walking, cycling and running.
Wonderful Park. It's currently getting some improvements but still is a very nice place to go.
Great park with paved walking trail, skate park and is along the river.
For a simple park of swings, jungle gym, basketball court & a bicycle track this is a good place for several interests.
Beautiful park with TONS of things to do. There is even a track for roller derby!!!
This is a awesome park to take the kids, or the kid in you. My only complaint is that it needs more shaded areas.
Great place for leisure biking , or racing . Oval track with slope. Real nice.
One of the best parks in Asheville. Always beautiful and extremely fun to walk around.
Very nice
Very good park and we'll maintained with public restrooms.
Best park in Asheville, volleyball, River access, did park down the way, mellowdrome, hockey.
As a local I visit often
Spacious. Could use some road work. Big potholes. Friendly, welcoming environment.
Great park! Bring your bicycle to ride the awesome track.
Nice playground area for little kids but very long walk from the parking area
Been going since a wee child. Awesome park!
Nice park but too close to PVA (Pisgah view apartments)where their are frequent shootings, drugs and violence.
Love walking the river here. Good long but easy walk with a stroller and kids.
Cool little walking area. My 2.5 year old LOVED the playground !
Great location and cool concept for a park. Sadly we were there the Sunday afternoon the shooting took place at Pisgah view apartments
I just got me a puppy, and it's excellent for a walk or running. Nice place to spend your day.

Great playground with lots of trails for walking biking and more
Awesome park it was cool to get to sit and watch the kids play
Beautiful park on the river. Perfect respite from the summer heat. Great Pokemon Go, as well.
Great park with plenty of accessible options. Could use a tennis court!
Fun park for kids, biking and walking/running track.
Always clean. Park is very nice for walking, running, picnicking and bike riding.
Asheville Parks, Recreation, & Cultural Arts best park! Enough said enjoy this top Asheville Park!
My kids have fun every time they get to go there.
My daily walk! I love this place so much. I lose and find myself every time on the greenway path.
Loved it!
great sidewalk for skating, biking, walking etc, great playgroud, track and court great place
Great place for a nice long walk. Its up to six miles now round trip.
