Reviews of Eagle River Campgrounds
It cost $20 a night. There is a camp host on site. There however is no water or electric at the RV spots. There are picnic tables and fire pit. There is a river near the campgrounds. There are currently no dump facilities for sewer when your Rv's on the property.
These spots are 1st come 1st serve no reservations
Been staying here for about 5 yrs. Beautiful. Love hearing river. Quiet.
All paved to each site, however, most all are double sites! Obvious there is no host on site as spaces are coned off for reservations made in early July? Host site has a two man pup tent on it with no sign of occupancy. Eagle river barely visible from any site. Dont mind the signs at entry: landfill and PRISON, the prison airspace is restricted so you can count on an unlimited amount of low flying aircraft skirting the prison airspace. Lower loop sites in 20’s, no speed bumps, count on some vehicles doing 40+ mph! The lower loop appears to have privacy until you realize the upper loop looms on top of you. We didnt notice the upper sites till the gaggle of screening kids descended down the hill into our site. If you need to dump, dont plan on it here, thats closed and out of order. Water? Nope, out of order! Other then that, great place to cop a squat and payment is optional as far as we can tell.
Great campground! A very nice experience.
Stayed here tent camping for a total of three days. In the tent camping area they have some raised platforms which is really nice for staying dry and clean. Not too far from our campsite their is an bathroom (no flush, no running water). Only a 5 minute walk away is a fresh water pump which from what I can tell was clean. Not hard to find, and it is still close to stores and restaurants.
Our family and friends families camped here at the end of May 2018 prior to Memorial Day weekend. It is a terrific camping area. The awesome part it’s close to Anchorage and the Mat-Su valley but it seems like so far out of town while camping in the Eagle River campground.
It’s beautiful, clean and the River is just steps away.
While riding my bicycle around the grounds I noticed that the campground had larger flatter sights which were marked for handicap.. I thought that was awesome. I had not seen such a nice camping area with such care and thought put into the design.
These photos are in taken May 2018, but still it’s beautiful even before it’s all greened up.
Spacious sites. Very quiet and comfortable. Clean pit bathrooms and potable water available. Highly recommend!
This is a really good 👍 place to go and enjoy the Creator's blessings . The Park Ranger Sarah is really good at looking out for the campers and dose periodic checks throughout the day asking about your concerns. To add to blessings I got to share with the beautiful 1 Sarah the Park Ranger what a Joy MY BLESSING ARE OVERWHELMING to meet someone with the FRUITS OF THE SPIRITS I have met many people all over the state and other places 😊 none have this liken to the sort WOWW , thus day 29 June and a veteran Sam that blessed me with a Coleman double burner stove and a nice sittin chair. It's wonderful 😊 💟 to see folks again through out my travels . This day has shown me that I was BORN TO LOVE ❤️😘😘😘❤️ and be LOVED 💞😍 ...
Very nice camping, but lots of mosquitoes, especially close to woods. Road looks like tough drive, but it isn't bad. Lots of room and right on river. Surprisingly clean.
This is a great campground located in Eagle River. There's 57 spots most are double so go early to get one of the singles if your concerned about neighbors.
Nice clean park. Well run. Lots of room between sites
Great facilities and tranquility just 20 kms out of Anchorage ... tent camp on the river bank, site 12.
Beautiful tree sites, great place to dry camp, potable water available from a large plastic container with a hose. Close to Anchorage & with good cell service.
It's a gorgeous area to camp. Definitely a big place with plenty of privacy for campers.
For such a late start they still had nice camping areas open
Located by the river. Great sites and clean restrooms 🚻 …
Only a few sites with a view of the river. Camp host not around. Sites were coned off with reservation dates a month old. We weren't sure if we could use them or not. We thought the sites were large & then realized the site was actually 2 sites right next to each other. Weird. Very few sites that were actually single sites with privacy. Our site backed up to hill which we thought was nice & private until 4 young kids came squeeling down the hill. The area is OK but the site layouts are kind of yucky. Dump station closed. Potable water 'out of order'.
I enjoyed my stay; had a nice site - overlooking Eagle River.
It was growing dark as I approached, but the very pleasant park host came and watched me deposit my envelope, then unlocked and withdrew it. We talked for a moment about bears, etc., then both went on our ways. The campgrounds are kept immaculately clean; firewood is available for purchase. I noticed with dismay that countless black spruce have been uniformly sawed off just a few inches above ground and hope that is from rangers clearing out bark beetles damage rather than campers after free firewood. Many white birch have been girdled for fire starter; please don't add to this! Very pleasant campground overall.
Great place for a walk
Could use a little help with bathrooms but cheap and beautiful
Awesome campground big sites, some paved. Close to river and some hiking trails. Hard to find garbage cans and RV dump station is closed.
Stopped on for a night quiet large site. Plenty of room
Beautiful spot. It's usually quiet, as the locals don't normally camp here, since it's so close to town. Nicer than most of the campground/rv parks in Anchorage. Only complaint is the highway noise, but even that is not too bad.
Beautiful area, campsites are large and roomy, not right on top of each other. Wildlife may wander through such as a moose or the occasional bear so be aware. There are trails and the river to enjoy, with stores close by for anything you may have forgot to bring.
Beautiful campground, has potable water ( 20 gallons per serv) nice view, clean campground near the river!
I like it!
Good cell service!
Nice site and a nice amount of space between bays. Sadly 4 stars not because of the site but the lack of noise control at night.
Kids shouting after 1am and dogs barking at all hours.
Amazing that people don’t know how to behave around others in a place like this.
A gorgeous campground close to the city. It’s about as loud as most popular, public campgrounds, but it’s a great stay for anyone who wants to pitch a tent or park an RV in the Anchorage area. No utilities except for outhouses, but the campsites seem clean and well-kept. It’s popular, so get there early or reserve to get a spot. I’ll definitely stay there again.
I was at the camp ground for three days 28 through 30 August 2015 and me and my family enjoyed the cleanness and a quite three days. The hosts were friendly and they drove through the camp ground several times just checking things out. There was plenty of wood for sale; however, we brought our own and had a fire every night. The camping sites were all blacktopped and level, plus clean from the past users.
I will stay at this camp ground again as it is heads and shoulders above some others here in Alaska.
Nice campground to come to if you dont want to go too far out of anchorage, decent size although it tends to fill up pretty quick, restrooms are usually pretty clean and they have pottable water, trails going down to the river and there is a day use area too, defenitley worth checking out, just get their early if you can.
Excellent Campground.
Customer Service is knowledgeable and helpful.
Truly and awesome place to stay.
Very clean and easy to access.
Very nice camping ground.
Basic campground. Get out and walk around, go down and see the river. If you need a quick overnight outing and want to get out of Anchorage without traveling all day, this is a great spot. Start a fire and roast a dog and some marshmallows, works every time.
The closest place to anchorage we could find that had descent reviews. Would recommend. About 20 min from town. camp host on site. Quiet camper neighbors. $20 no shower. stayed in a tent.
Great time here! Wish we could ride atv's though.
This camp ground has really nice sites by the river if you have a tent. There was a lot of black bear activity in the area but we didn't see any. Lots to do with trails and fishing.
Once in a blue moon chance. It was great. Not the norm.
Beautiful place, a river to go down to, there is a beach, and friendly people. Have paved roads for bikes etc. Good place to camp. I recommend it to anyone!!!
The bathroom actually smelled nice. No joke. I don't know how but it smelled GOOD. The river was also beautiful and the campsites were clean.
It's a nice camp ground. Camping spots are space out well. It has the convenience of being in town but still feel like you're out camping.
Great layout for camp spaces. Nice place, will return in the future.
The campground was nice and clean. The only problem was other campers not respecting quiet hours
Nice peaceful spot to camp. Convenient location between Anchorage and Wasilla.
The river's quite loud, but otherwise it's your standard self serve campsite. Ground wasn't too soft for tenting but wasn't too hard either and wasn't hard getting a spot.
Quite nice and reasonably quiet considering how close it is to Anchorage. Definitely the nicest “close” campground you’ll find next to the grossness that is Anchorage
The water pump is not working
Beautiful campground on the bank of the river. The sites are easily accessible and clean.
Beautiful place, packed on the weekends so get there early. Theres also black bears walking around and getting into your food, so pack a gun and bring your dog.
A little pricey but worth it for the convenience of being between Anchorage and the Matsu Valley. The trails are pretty good too.
The Eagle.River Campground experience was wonderful. Great facility.for a day trip from Anchorage or the Valley.
.
Spacious sites, good interior roads. Only beef is some freeway noise, but it seemed to be only during the day.
Nice enough campground, but RV campers should wait until they get their dump station working again.
Beautiful spot to spend the day.
Its nice, but it can get crowded, depending on what day you go. if you want it to be a quiet place, well it's not.
Nice spot for a camp nth of Anchorage. At $20 maybe a little pricey considering no showers avilable.
Nicest campground I have ever been to. Beautiful setting along Eagle River.
Very beautiful riverside with beaver dam just upstream from the tent camping spots.
Clean and we'll kept. Had a great stay with my family...
Quiet campground close to town. Plenty of large sites and no RV size restrictions
Beautiful and relaxing site. A little to close one from another for camping
Such a great place! Love the river!
Awesome place to go great views very clean and just all around awesome!!!!
Great camping spot for smaller families or groups
Campsites are spaced nicely with many that are mostly level.
Very beautiful location beside riverbank and spacious sites
Great place for a quick get away on a short weekend!
near a prison, camp host not friendly, too expensive for what it is
Would be a great place to camp and go fishing
Quiet place next to the relaxing sound of the river.
Just love the fresh air and nature 😊 …
Alaska needs to install electric and bath houses in their state parks.
Website says flushing toilets, their are no flushing toilets or showers
Awesome and clean place to camp.
Nice and quiet place to overnight park
Clean & neat place to camp
A little expensive, but great quaint location!
Very nice camp ground.
Why close to town. But it's close to town!!
Incredible my Home Sweet Home.
Close to Anchorage and inexpensive.
