Reviews of Stein's Market and Deli
Evie Burguieres
Steins is the best surly NY like deli in the heart of the Big Easy. You can find owner Dan Stein behind the register most of the time with his no bs attitude. I get the vegetarian sandwich with no cheese on ciabatta for a vegan delight! All their ingredients are fresh and sandwiches are made to order while you wait. Service is fast and relatively friendly. They also have a GREAT beer and drink selection in back plus lots of random grocery items in front.
Lena Griffin
First time visitor! Had a delicious BLT and Boylans ginger ale! Fast, no-nonsense ordering and very fast and efficient cooks! Humorous decor. Good for lunch, for visiting company, very small groups (2-3 ppl). An amazing assortment of beverages including root beer, lemonades, beer and wine! There’s also an array of Zapp’s chips, chocolate candies and more!
Will definitely be back!
Sophie Sparer
My sandwich was great! I got The Rachel, which is basically a Rueben with pastrami instead of corned beef. I had read some comments about the customer service not being great, but that was not my experience at all. I would say the guy at the counter wasn’t overly friendly, so I can see how some people might misconstrue that as rude. But he helped me pick my sandwich and I really liked it. I will be back, probably at least once a month for the foreseeable future.
Charlie Robinson
Landmark Nola destination. Fantastic deli sandwiches and incredible international beer selection. High quality foods, great funny interior and unique beer room out back.
Debra White
Always wanted to try a Jewish delu, this was so yummy and delicious. I bought the Reuben, my husband the special corned beef sandwich of the day and our son ordered the tuna melt, all 3 were so good. The atmosphere was perfect
Tarra Gray
Stein’s Market and Deli had delicious bagels. We had the bagel sandwich with egg, cheese and bacon and a bagel with lox. The bagel with lox was fresh and well made and so was the bagel sandwich.
Mattlan Ladner
This deli truly lives up to its hype! 10/10 recommend for a good authentic deli sandwich. The ingredients were fresh and flavorful! Bread was also really nice!
R R
Traditional NY-style deli with a wide variety of soft drinks and liquor. Best Italian sub in the area.
Ed Nichanian
Mediocre deli. Super busy. Good drink selection
Ryan Silverman
New Orleans is lucky to have this place. Excellent sandwiches served in a relaxed atmosphere. It's a well-organized kitchen so that even when it's busy, there is no wait or delay. Highly recommend!
Adam Rogers
Great sandwich, really flavorful roast beef and lots of cheese.
Good selection of drinks too.
David Schenk
Found Stein's on my first morning in New Orleans when trying to find a decent coffee (by Australian standards that can be hard to achieve in America sometimes!). The coffee was actually provided by a 'hole in the wall' place in the corner of the deli. Once discovered it turns out that Stein's also makes amazing sandwiches & has an incredible 'craft beer cave of wonders' out the back. The Muffaletta sandwich was DELICIOUS!!
John Riverso
What can I say about Stein's? As a yankee transplant who is constantly homesick for the deli experience, this place scratches the itch every time. The bagels are just like they are at home. They have an awesome beer selection, and a variety of deli goods to sell besides. Dan Stein is a New Orleans hero. I've been coming here since 2014, and I won't stop anytime soon.
Pro tip: Get the Stoltzfus. It is a winner every time. Unless you hate things that taste good.
Tom Vasseur
Sandwich is just perfect (I had a corned beef tongue). Impressive beer selection with Belgian beers that sometimes are only locally available within Belgium.
Richard Leaman
Great morning stop for delicious bagels and smoked salmon. Life moves fast here, so be sure that you know what you want to order before getting in line!
Christoph Schnell
Stein's has pretty good bagels for a place so far away from NYC. They also sell interesting things in their market, like imported beer from Germany.
The place has good coffee and a charming authentic experience.
Would go there again.
Dokyung Lee
Hidden gem in NOLA! Amazing sandwich place with affordable price! Definitely coming back here soon
Ravi Shukla
An amazing find! The Friday special (Cuban) was awesome. So were the Muphuletta, Vegetarian on ciabatta and roast beef on rye. Strongly recommended.
The Cookie Project
The Reuben sandwich is OUT OF THIS WORLD. No matter what part of town you are staying at, it is definitely worth the trip.
Candace
WOW! Authentic to the core deli! Cool, funky setting. Great service and delicious food. The chicken liver sandwich on marbled rye and the lox and bagel was fresh and tasty. Oh I'll be back!
Robert A
Reuben sandwich was delicious. I would have like the sandwich to come with chips though at a $13 price.
Amal W.J.E
Excellent ! Tasty sandwiches and a cute market with eclectic options .
They saved my butt when I needed to find lunch for 40 people last minute.
Thank you !!
David Hernandez
This is the best breakfast and coffee I have had in Uptown, the staff is so friendly if you have not been here please go, try the bagel with bacon, egg, cheese, and tomato, so damn good, and great prices, they also have select market items, check em out ❤️

Found out they don't lease the parking lot anymore, but it's a public (pay) lot. Or street parking.
Had a corned beef on marble rye, and also got an italian hoagie again. The corned beef itself is flavorful and tasty. Bread, mustard, lettuce and tomato....delicious!
Love the Italian hoagie. Fresh meats and cheeses... great!
I got a pint of potato salad too. Not my favorite. Weird pickle taste and too mustard for me.
Got pickles too. Did not like.
Great sandwiches!
2017
Old style deli with great looking sandwiches. I had an Italian hoagie. Just great.
I'll be back to try more, but it's very cool here.
Ashley Toliver-Williams
We called Stein’s last minute to help us in a bind with catering for an event. They went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed to keep the attendees fed and happy…all with only an hour and a half notice. Cannot tell you how much we appreciate it. The food was great and everyone loved it!
Dasha
Super yummy, good prices and very casual. Just note it gets busy on the weekends but the line moves fast.
Hemi “Hemieatsfood”
Old school rustic charm with delicious sangas! Love this place, I’m keen to try the whole menu. Pick your sandwich, choose a beer and you’re in for a sweet meal. Pickles are also yum!
Sam Wynne
A great deli always has to have a killer Reuben and this place has that and more! They’ve got a good selection of dry kitchen goods as well as an entire back room full of all kinda of crazy craft beers. Wild ales and hard to find offerings.
Kayode
Food was hearty and amazing. A not so New Orleans spot filled with non natives and hipsters. Atmosphere and food were great!!!
Xander Westwood
Wow! Looking for a great bagle look no further. Best in NOLA. You feel like you are in a NYC deli. The sandwiches are the bomb.
Seth Brashear
Love the Jeff Berger.
Huge alcohol and drink selection
William Daigle
Awesome sandwiches! Our first time here and we got the Reuben and Turkey Panini with Pesto.
Both were DELICIOUS!
The Reuben was hot with the right amount of Cheese, Sauerkraut, and Russian dressing.
Can't wait to go back to try other ones.
Cynthia Cramblett
Quick and delicious! They happily modify orders and have both breakfast and lunch options. Coffee bar inside too! A must if hanging on Magazine street! Choose to sit inside or out.
Monica C
Perfect pastrami to eat and very hardworking staff.
The price was right and I highly recommend this business to anyone that is in the Garden District on Magazine St.
Charles Macaluso
The corned beef and coleslaw sandwich was superb. Atmosphere is comfy and entertaining.
L Ramos
Reuben sandwich was the best ever! Great, delicious food!
K V
INSANELY busy for lunch and breakfast, it is still worth the wait. Hipsters craft fantastic sandwiches behind the counter and the drink selection is enormous. Sure, you can get a beer and go outside to drink it, but why bother when they also offer up some truly bizarre and unique drink options?
lolive lolive
Great bagels, plenty of indoor sitting, cool decoration and friendly staff!
Nate Sanders
Best sandwich in New Orleans. It’s like a little piece of NYC. Grab your drink first, don’t expect a smile from the cashier, and get ready for the best corn beef you’ve ever put in your mouth!
Also beer lovers their beer selection is god like.
David Goold
Tasty made to order sandwiches the owner has themed gear t shirts and wacky stuff all around the walls
Positive Interventions, LLC
The Daily Sandwich specials are great. I come here often for the hot sandwiches. I just had the fancy cuban sandwich on Friday. Great
Nubnqen Williams
It's a local corner store sandwich spot with good sandwiches. I'm not the only one who feels this was because it was very busy.
Kathan Desai
Yummy bagels and sandwiches! The place has wide selection, and also has friendly staff. The place is kind of small so it gets packed easily during busy times.
Whereis Waldo
Came across this gem in our recent trip to NOLA. Great food and awesome service.
Alfred Hamilton
Tried the Friday special for the first time. Soo damn good!! Wish this was on the menu Everyday so i wouldn't have to wait until Friday.
Nicolai Alatzas
To the people who think a Deli is a place in the grocery store to pick up cold cuts. It is just like a Poboy shop but instead of deep frying the contents and putting it on day old french bread you get to pick a flavor other than fried and place it on on fresh bread of your choice.
The only deli in New Orleans secures a top lunch spot. I should also mention bagels as well as the owners beer club putting together the best single serve selections of beer in the country.
Go Twins
Shelby Seaquist
Had the Saturday’s special (Chicago Italian) and it was an excellent hot sandwich. Ordered a muffuletta and I didn’t like it that much but could just be me. The soup was okay too. Enjoyed all the beer options. Must come
Dan Forman
Just saw a negative review about Stein’s and wanted to chime in. I ordered the matzo ball soup today (1/9/22) and it was outstanding. Matzo balls were light and fluffy while the chicken soup was warm and rich. I consider myself a matzo ball aficionado, and I’d give these five stars.
It’s a difficult time to run a business - we all need to share a little extra kindness right now. Dan and his team at Stein’s are working hard to make sure Jewish New Orleanians like myself (and those who enjoy Jewish food) have a place to call for food like our grandma’s used to make.
Thank you, Dan Stein and Stein’s Deli. I appreciate you.
Larra Longley
The best muffaletta sandwich! Their bread is AMAZING! The pickles....SO GOOD!!
Kisha Pruitt
Delicious everytime! That Turkey Pesto Panini is RIDICULOUS! Be sure to add Grilled Onions!
Andrea Cooper
If you want to feel what it's like to eat in a New York City Delicatessen and taste the wonderful, top of the line sandwiches and meats Yankees rave about, then look no further. The atmosphere couldn't be more inviting. They did a wonderful job of mixing what works north of the Mason Dixon with what makes us feel at home in NOLA. Can't wait to return to get another breakfast bagel sandwich.
William Nolan
In the many years I've been in New Orleans, this was the first time I've been here. They have a ln awesome selection of sandwiches that they make fresh right there. The prices are really nice. It does get crowded during the lunch rush, but if you have to wait, it's definitely worth it.
Brian Becker
Great beer selection and homemade sandwiches. Good selection of artisanal dry goods. Don’t expect fancy.
Trish Williams
Enjoyed the hot tuna melt on homemade sour dough. 😋 Always have to visit when I'm in town. …
casey urschel
This place is amazing. You won’t find a better deli anywhere in Louisiana. The staff is fun and quirky and puts out great food. Dan himself is a local treasure. Go check it out for yourself.
Tory S
Just had Stein’s cater my son’s second birthday and they CRUSHED it. People could not stop talking about the sandwiches, bagel platter, salads, right down to the pickles. They also happen to have the best Ruben in town. We’ve had a few catered events and by far the most people were raving about this one. I don’t personally know Dan Stein, affectionately referred to by many as a “lovable curmudgeon”, but his reputation for being exacting when it comes to quality came through in the food and preparation. 10/10 would do it again!
Sydney Intagliata
Great sandwiches! The bread was so fresh and there is an amazing selection of unique teas and beers along the back wall. Would come again!
Paul Bacon (Bacon's Pub)
Love this deli. Everything I've had has always been spot on! Also have a great beer selection.
Chad Carson
A NY (or Philly?) style deli right in New Orleans. A visit is a truly immersive experience, complete with Davidovich bagels from NYC, an outstanding selection of bottled beverages including beer, and surly counter staff who seem like they're straight off the plane from the northeast. Don't get me wrong, the surly demeanor is a bit of an act. The owner Dan and his folks will go out of their way to make sure you are taken care of, just don't be a shmuck and you'll be fine. Dan once chased down a frat boy who picked up my bagel from the pickup window. It wasn't that he was worried about the theft, he said he didn't want me to have to wait longer. I truly appreciated that.
Ed Hayes
The dude on the phone was a bit understandable than he prepared the best pastrami I have ever had.
Chris Finn
Hot honey butter chicken biscuit is worth the visit alone.
Dan Reeves
Came through for breakfast this weekend, had the stoltzfus on sourdough, excellent sandwich for the price. Very good beer selection, bagels are top notch. It’s a funky place and not for Karen’s or the pretentious.
Braden Lemon
Best beer selection in town! Great deli menu for a great bite to eat. Convenient parking lot close by.
Ian Lever
Our sandwiches were delicious, and the place had a lot of character. Egg and corned beef sandwich was a home run for breakfast. 10/10 would recommend.
Arlen Manwaring
ONE OF THE BEST SANDWICH PLACES IN ALL OF NEW ORLEANS!! A MUST IF YOU LIKE QUALITY MEAT AND CHEESES!! Everything here is top notch in my book of what you should experience getting food from an actual deli. Lots of choices to choose from and high recommend if you like a big meaty breakfast sandwich this a great place for that too! Love the staff there, everyone is very nice and accommodating to anyone's needs. This place is always highly recommended to anyone who seeks good food always!
Jonathan Fadok
Simply put--an amazing deli. My favorite is the Reuben. They have a great selection of groceries and don't miss out on the secret beer room out back.
Elizabeth B Carpenter
Stein’s consistently never fails to disappoint. If you are first timer, I highly recommend the lox or Reuben.
I have read comments about the staff being rude. Personally, I have never experienced or witnessed such behavior. Actually, the opposite has been true for me. The owner has a hard working team who has always been ready to help me.
People need to recognize how busy they are day in and day out.
Thank you guys for always taking care of me when I come there.
James Newton
Ahhhhhmazing hot pastrami!!! The lox bagel is a must. There are no bad sandwiches here. Favorite deli in the city.
Garrett Williams (The Traveling Bamboo)
This is our favorite sandwich and bagel spot by far!
John Rueff (p play)
Walk-in and the Smith's are playing. Homemade coffee and NY style sandwiches. Fantastic. Great neighborhood place.
Lesley Kenwood (Petitevelorouge)
Probably the best Corned Beef Special I've ever had the pleasure of eating. Instead of the usual sauerkraut, they used coleslaw which to my surprise was a huge improvement. Kris was super friendly and is an asset to the establishment. Give him a raise.
Todd Wackerman
This is the best food in New Orleans. Get the Sam, is my advice. The first time I ordered it, I was driving home when took my first bite. I had to pull over to the side of the road, because that sandwich is too good not to give it your full and undivided attention. I don't write reviews, but it is so important that you eat here, that I am making an exception. Not only is the food superb, but Dan Stein is a prince. It is the only restaurant in New Orleans that is always as good as your memory of it. I hear the spots nearby are good too, but I'll never be able to find out because if I'm anywhere close by, I am going to Stein's.
Production Apostle
The sandwiches are so good.. I love this place wish it was open later.. I have no pictures cause the food never lasts long enough...
Nycole Ashley
We are visiting New Orleans for the first time from Montana and were looking for a good sandwich & Stein’s did not disappoint! My husband had the special (meatball sub) with fresh mozzarella and loved it. I had the hirsch on their house made sourdough and it was SO good! We also grabbed some of their pasta salad, I could probably eat that every day lol. The two people I dealt with (on the phone to order & picking up) were super friendly and service was quick. I would definitely recommend - thank you guys!
DivaChita Magnificent
Wonderful service from young man who took my order and delivered my sandwich to my car. I ordered a ruben sandwich which I craved for quite a while. The sandwich was quite meaty and had good flavor but no sauerkraut. So was it a ruben???
Matt Krauss
Second guessed myself in getting a "Muphelata" at this place known for its corned beef and pastrami, but I decided to go for it. BEST. MUFFELATA. EVER. Maybe even Best sandwich ever. (Fair warning to the kind of people that rate a restaurant based of the service alone...you may want to go to Jimmy John's or something. They are so good at what they do, they don't have time for being polite. Frankly, I think that made my sandwich taste better.)
Chrissy “Goose” Regusa
I sometimes have large and complicated orders and Steins kitchen staff nails it every time. They’ll even label each food item for the correct person. And our orders are always hot, ready on time, and on point with everything needed in dat bag. Plus the entire staff never stops moving, yet they’re attentive and friendly. They’ll get you in and out but you don’t necessarily wanna leave, cuz retro music they got playing is super fun also!!
Orlando Velez
Love this place, my chef RJ turned me on to it since he know I'm from the Philadelphia area. I kept complaining that I couldn't find a legit Italian Hoagie...
well this place did not disappoint, on amarosobread! The real deal... the chicken salad is also great. Stop on by you won't regret it!
Michael Barton
Stein's Deli is as good as any New York deli. The bagels are absolutely divine. The best is the wheat bagel with salmon and cream cheese. The tomato cream cheese is good, too. There is no bad order on the sandwiches because each tastes like it was built from ingredients picked fresh that morning. Be sure to shop in the semi hidden beer room in the back because the selection is fantastic and has some hard to find bottles!
Jason Calmes
Best deli in the city, and there is no place like it around. The sandwiches are phenomenal, and there are specials each day. Great selection of meats, cheeses, and more. Wide variety of drinks, including sodas, along with fun candies and treats. On top of it all, there's a great vibe and cast of characters. Well worth any wait.
Marja Jones
This place is really good, I know some locals that come here weekly just because of how good this place is.
Ron Knipple Jr
My favorite Deli in New Orleans. Order at the counter and know what you want when you get to the front. Great selection of sandwiches and drinks and old school candy. Love the vibe. The workers may seem bristly but they know their stuff.
Paul Bobo
Love this deli. They sell some amazing produce, have the best beer selection hidden at the back, and make the best bagels in New Orleans. The breakfast bagel with bacon, egg and cheese is my favourite.
Update : years later its still amazing. Sesame bagel could be my favourite
Diane Phomm
First time to Stein's and enjoyed every moment of it. I recommend the Sam. Place was very NY.
Neeka Farhad
What a gem! We were in town for thanksgiving and a lot of local spots were closed so we stumbled into Stein's. And we are thrilled to have. Yes the staff are a little salty, but that didn't bother us a bit. The pastrami is cut as thin tissue paper, juicy and full of flavor. I would argue better than a NY pastrami. Definitely make this a stop if you're a pastrami lover.
Allan Berger
I love this Place !!! Their corned beef is fantastic. I get the" First Cut " which is leaner . Whenever I bring it home by the pound I have to eat a sandwich right away otherwise it will all be gone when everyone finds out I picked it up. Their other sandwiches are EXCELLENT TOO. GREAT COMBINATIONS!!! Time for me to go again .
Simeon Carpenter
No one beats steins. I love the rueben and the Italian.
Valerie Bouldin
Great food. Great service. Eclectic and savory options.
John Dorian
It's one of those places where you walk in and know whatever you order is gonna be good. Roast beef sandwich was awesome! Limited seating so you might order to-go and eat at a park.
Daneeta Loretta Jackson
The best vegetarian sandwich in the city. I get it on a hoagie. I don't know why because I'm from here, so you'd think I'd do it on a po-boy (they are not the same, so don't even start with me). I get take away, but always tip 20% or higher because, honestly, this place is that awesome. I get the pickles (which, I think are done there) and a homemade cookie and some Zapp's chips. My husband gets the Tuscan Panini. He says it's awesome. I usually eat half and do the rest of dinner. Worth the wait. This place is simply the best!
Nicole Lee
Our MUST STOP place whenever we visit New Orleans. Get the Rachel. You can't go wrong.
I got introduced to Stein's by my boyfriend and I'm so glad he did. There's usually always a line, so get there early. The quality of the meat and bread are superb. Way better than anywhere I've tasted. To be honest, I haven't tried anything else but the Rachel (hot pastrami on rye bread). I'm not inclined to try anything else because it's just that good. I have noticed that their prices have risen, the quantity of meat has lessen but the quality has stayed the same. That's fine with me to keep coming back.
Ramona G.
It's already too crowded, so I hate to boost its SEO with another review, but dang, that was a flipping delicious sammich!
just keeping up with the Joneses
Great selection of everything. The breads and sandwiches are the best I've ever had. They also have a large selection of craft beverages. I needed a quality ginger beer for making Moscow Mules while in town and found an amazing brand while here! Great NY style deli in NOLA!
Brian Bell
Best deli in New Orleans hands-down. Everything about this place is awesome. From the atmosphere to the food to the staff. The owner, Dan, is quite a character. Super friendly guy who takes great pride in serving the best deli food in the city. Their matzo ball soup is unreal. They have the best bagel with salmon and lox in New Orleans. They also have all kinds of chips and crackers and other goodies that you simply cannot find anywhere in the city.
Shannon Sipes
Yum! Great deli spot on Magazine St....eclectic decor & really good food served w/just enough sass. We ordered the Sam, beef tongue, a Dan & cobb salad & everyone was happily grubbing! Huge beer selection as well. If you come at a busy time you may have a wait so look for the off beat times (if you're an impatient person). Hubby says pastrami anything is what to get.
Harry Morse
About four or five years ago I wondered whether Dan Stein was for realzies or performative, which, in retrospect, was a dumb question. Dan is real. His food is outstanding. His beer selection is unparalleled. And if you ever get the chance to go to one of his classes and don't make the trek, shame on you.
Anna Antunez
So, so good. My son ordered a ham and cheese and easily the best ham and cheese ever. I had the Kelly sandwich, which was great with the green apple. Everything was delicious. The space is very NYC deli, cramped but sociable. Loved everything about it.
Johannah White
I might be biased, but this the best deli in town bar none. A real East coast Jewish deli experience. Bagels from NY. I love the Reubens. Utz chips. And the beer selection is outta sight. Right attitude and right quality from grumpy patient Dan Stein. What's not to love?
Noah Ksiazkiewicz
Stein’s is a neighborhood staple and has been for many years thanks to the stubborn good nature of the owner and staff. Dan clearly believes in the ethos of the neighborhood spot, where relationships, people, and quality come before profits. I’ve been eating the pastrami sandwich here for 14 years and I dont plan to stop anytime soon. It beats Katz’s Deli in Manhattan by a mile and a half. The only real deli in New Orleans and I hope it’s hear for a long time to come.
Jordan R (J)
What can I say that hasn't been said about Stein's already? Great food, good prices, great beer selection and great staff.
Bagels and schmear? Beautiful.
Meatball sub? Amazing.
My only regret is not trying their Philly before I left.
Dan is a great guy and this is one of the best places in the city for a sandwich.
Mark Hauxwell
The best beer selection in New Orleans (let me know if I am wrong). Also, the best sandwiches I have had in New Orleans. The owner seems indifferent but is really a nice guy that knows his stuff. Every time I go to New Orleans, stopping here is my number one priority.
M K (Smuttynose)
Stein's has some of the best sandwiches, service, selections of deli food, and chicken salad in the city. It's iconic. If you haven't had the Reuben or Rachel sandwich, you're missing out.
Jules
Perfect place if you like a good breakfast. But be aware the ambiente they offer might be off puting to people who are used to a more glamorous experiences.
I loved it!
Rama Daje
To-die-for deli sandwiches and bagels! Gets very VERY crowded on weekends, I like to call ahead. Coffee pop up on weekends. Good beverage selection. I love the snarky owner who will often ring you up, makes you feel like you are having an authentic New York experience for 3 seconds. Also the place runs like a well-oiled machine like delis do in nyc which is uncommon in our slow, inefficient town of New Orleans, so that's a nice change.
Brandon B
Hands down, the best deli in the South. I find it difficult to try anything else in the same vicinity of Stein’s because if they’re open, that’s where I’m going. Look at the menu before you go and don’t hold up the line.
Brit Flair
Always great sandwiches. Seriously one of my favorite places to grab a sandwich in the city.
Nancy Gervais
I grew up in New York and was raised by food snobs. Stein's food would have delighted even my picky Aunt Jean from the old country. The meats have the right balance of flavor and fat. The marble rye is fresh with a nice chewy crust. And the service is just right, helpful with a tiny touch of surly. The atmosphere is decidedly Northern. It's clean and a little cluttered. It's real. Go get a Rachel and a can of Dr. Brown's black cherry and forget that you aren't on the lower east side for a while.
Mitch Marucha
Pastrami on rye was one of the best I ever had. The potato salad very good. There were two types of pickles. One was the normal heavy dill and they also had a more fresher cucumber tasting one. The tomato soup had a nice fresh flavor. A definite stop for a great sandwich.
Ralph Stefano
Took an Airbnb near Stein's recently. Ordered three times in six days and all three times the food was great. One of the orders was a muffaletta, which was outrageously good. Courteous service and quick turnaround. Highly recommended.
larry b
How have i never visited here before. Tongue, pastrami, corned beef. amazing bread and bagels shipped in daily. Great beer selection. Its a Deli. Deli atmosphere, Deli seating, Deli attitude, Deli prices.
Keep up the great work guys
Mouton In Motion
Whenever I crave deli cuisine, Stein's is my 1st thought. Best NYC bagels in NOLA. Various specialty sandwiches are pile-high-loaded and delicious. Laid-back atmosphere and exceptional customer service. Space is precious so dining in can be a bit cramped. Typical customers don't mind and understand a little bumping. Welcoming environment.
Stanley Smith
Went here before only for the awesome beer selection. After walking through and smelling the food for the third time I decided to give them a shot and man was I impressed. Great deli and amazing sandwiches. I make sure I go in whenever I'm in town from now on.
Doss
The food here is really good. The staff is gruff but on point. They're actually really helpful despite their demeanor.
Have a I mentioned the beer? No, not the beer in the front fridges that you can't drink in the restaurant. I mean the hidden beer in the back. Awesome selection that is hard to find anywhere else within a few hundred miles.
John Robertson
As a new yorker, I can confidently say Stein's has the best tasting NY style deli sandwiches in New Orleans. My girlfriend always gets "The Sam", a prosciutto sandwich on Rhye bread. I usually prefer anything with turkey on it. Really you can't go wrong in terms of flavor regardless of what sandwich you get. They also have a really big and fun soda and beer collection, and a randomly cool pasta section. However, it always bugs me that it takes them a really long time to make the sandwiches, even when you go during non-crowded hours. That drives me nuts. Additionally, the portions are not very large and the prices are high compared to what you get. In other words, 5-star taste, but 4-stars because of the wait and the value.
Kyle Llewellyn
From walking in the door you can tell these guys mean business, high quality product throughout the whole deli from drinks to dry goods. The aroma of fresh bagels and coffee fill the room. The wall art is highly entertaining, and my bacon egg and cheese on a house made whole wheat bagel didn't disappoint. I would happily return.

Being from Jersey, I had been in search for a Taylor ham, egg, and cheese on a bagel since being away from home; who knew I would stumble across this little holy grail of a place that each sandwich I get from here is never a disappointing moment. From the pickles to the bread...this place is definitely a place I don't mind taking 2 buses to obey my crave. Even the sandwiches artists are touched and make my sandwich exactly how I would describe it.
Cody Bear
Top quality sandwiches in a old school New York setting
Johnny Five
If you don't mind the crowds and wait, they make really good hot pastrami sandwiches. I don't know if they make their own pastrami, but it was wonderfully marbled and cured. Great bread and cheese selection too.
Siarra Chambers
I’m Siarra and I’m here visiting from California and I was craving a Pastrami sandwich. Well look no further They Have the BEST PASTRAMI!!!! Hands down. My husband had the “Sam” and I had the build your own Pastrami. Mine included Pickles, mayo, mustard And cheese. Shout out to the cooks!! 😋 …
Lindsay Reeves
We have been coming here for a decade, and it's one of the main reasons we can never leave the neighborhood! Great sandwiches, bagels, and a huge selection of beers, including many we've never found anywhere else.
Leslie Molson
Stein's is the only authentic Jewish deli in town. Go for the bagels, pastrami, roast beef, and amazing breads, plus treats like rugelach and macaroons, and staples like matzoh meal. They have an extensive beer selection, but no drinking on the premises.
Note: street-parking only, as some awful people put in a paid parking lot next door.
Michelle Martin
Definitely one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Got the Rachel (Rueben with hot pastrami instead of corned beef) and Matzo ball soup. Perfect for the Friday night hangover! The wait is hella ridiculous, crowded and seating almost as coveted as the food, but with Cherry Coffee located inside and tons of tempting treats, you can sip and nibble until your food is ready. I want to go back again today!
Clinton Mathison
I've been here many times and Steins always has a wide variety of great sandwiches and bagels.
Also, they have a nice beer selection from breweries (mostly in NY) that are hard to come by anywhere else.
David Head
The man, the myth, the legend, Dan Stein was there working the register. Super cool meeting the guy.
It's obviously a great place to eat, freshly sliced deli meats, cool decor and a craft beer selection.
Suzanne Cox
What can I say? Everything is delicious and we will continue to go back. We drive from Baton Rouge to go there! Chopped liver is fantastic! Pickles are a must!
George Williams
I have been a fan of Stein's for almost 20 years, but they really deserve recognition for the measures they have taken to keep going during the pandemic. Not only are these the best bagels in New Orleans, bar none, but it is one of the businesses that really takes COVID-19 safety measures seriously. Orders are placed by phone and then picked up onsite. There is a "do not cross" line safe distance from the front door, your orders are placed on a table so there is no direct contact, and they are very serious about masks for employees.
Dan Stein and his deli are one of the examples I point to when discussing how to protect your staff and guests while staying in business during these trying times.
Andrew Antonelli
One of the top places to eat in the city!
smejia (snugbug22)
Got the daily special - phily steak, and The Rachel. So scrumptious! Try the half-sour pickle. Yummy.
Everyone was kind and helpful at a very busy time. Thanks y'all.
Charles Conti
1st heard about them on Facebook group for people that love beer. The 2 outside storage rooms have an amazing selection of very hard to find beer. In some cases no one else in the city has a selection they do. Very reasonably priced.
Travis Thompson
These guys have really great bagels and also a wide selection of sandwiches. The staff seems pretty chill and it's a pretty relaxed atmosphere. Also, they have some pretty cool grocery items available and a wide collection of beer to go.
Wade Smith
Great new York style deli...a little like Katz. Only down fall was the olive salad on the muffaletta was super salty. Great otherwise.
Seth Bloom
This is the only thing that slightly resembles a Jewish delicatessen in Orleans Parish. Dan Stein does a really good job at making this look and feel authentic including his New York personality even though he is from Philadelphia. (I know Dan so I can say that.) They’ve been open for a number of years now and do a great job with deli sandwiches as well as becoming a great little gourmet deli grocery store. Located on Magazine Street in the heart of great shopping and great food this place stands out. Anticipate long lines during the lunch rush as well as on the weekends. I think they do a great Rachel, Reuben, and Italian sandwich and overall think it’s a great spot!!
Shane Walters
Truly unique deli with numerous offerings. I tried the South Philly Pulled Pork and didn't really care for it but novelty of the deli itself made up for the sandwich.
I plan to go here again next time I am in the area.
edgardo osorio
Always love going to steins! My go to is the caprese sandwich and adding turkey to it.
Absolute perfection!
Glad they are still around.
Go check this place out asap.
Jason Fetvedt
First if all, and foremost, Dan Stein is a mensch. Forget the fact that you can get a decent schmear in downtown NOLA. Ignore the fact that the employees are decent, hardworking folk in their own right, being paid a decent wage for good work. Completely disregard the fact that this is the only place I get kegs in town and that Dan will text or call me if he can offer a fantastic deal, which happens all the time. Nope. The only thing you need to know is that Stein's Deli offers the greatest sandwich of all times. It's a variation on the Old Fart, tongue and chopped liver. Get it with provolone and coleslaw on roasted, seeded rye. When he asks you if you want mayo or mustard, answer "No," as if it were a silly question a child might ask. Ask for it by name, the Slaw Fart. They don't know that that is the name of this particular sandwich, but it is. Make it a thing. I did say Dan was a mensch, right?
James Carney
Delicious sandwiches in a truly New Orleans deli setting. Can't get much more local than this! Also, do yourself a favor if you are a Craft Beer seeker. Follow the signs to their beer room hidden in the back!!! Wow!!
Jason Cline
Had the foxy on marble rye add mayo. Perfection. The pickles a solid. The coffee spot that shares a space with them also damned good. The only knock I've got is that it was hot in there but that happens when you're baking your own bread.

Wow! The best sandwich place in town. Due to COVID-19, we ordered the Ruben Sandwich and the Corned beef and slaw sandwich to go. OMG! Go here.
Robert Ornelas
The owner, Stein, helped me find some amazing beer. Not only there, because they did not have a beer I was looking for and he connected me to the distributor that could tell me where it was. Beer nerds must stop. Oh yeah, the muffaleta was killer. Look forward to my next trip to new Orleans and Stein's.
Jonathan Colella
The tongue special is amazing! So is the chopped liver!
Update: Pastrami is killer! Love this place
Leon Sanders
I lived in Minnesota for quite some time so I got used to being able to find craft beer at any liquor store. I am happy to report that I was able to reminisce about that time while at Stein's Deli due to their very large stock of many different brands of craft beer. I will only shop here for beer going forward.
Y and A Haber
Good sandwiches, but pricey and LONG wait, any hour of the day. Hipster feel, with a slightly too-cool-for-school edgy edge. We have been here many dozens of times, never seems to change much. Maybe needs some more women working here? Just an idea.
Tracy Manners
I loved the selection in their beer room!
Daniel Lemor
Best deli in the city. Sandwiches are top notch. Really everything there is delicious. Also sells the best selection of craft beer in the city. Beers only to go though - you can't drink at Stein's.
John Radziewicz
Best Bagels in New Orleans, together with lots of great sandwiches that are not po boys. They have excellent coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice, and a wide selection of craft beer. Give Dan a hard time, he deserves it!
Gail G
Dan and his crew give a great product with great service. There's nothing like a bagel with cream cheese, sitting family style. You can eat and make friends. What more can you ask for? It's our favorite deli in New Orleans. And I come from Boston. We know our bagels, corn beef and chopped liver.
Morris McKinney
The food here is delicious. There is outdoor seating on an attractive street. The service is excellent.
Paul Jacoby
Got rachel( which is basically a pastrami reuben)
It was very solid, not the best ive ever had but very good, wish it had a bit more pastrami but it was reasonably priced. Great bread and russian dressing as well. Italian hoagie had some incredible aspects to it, but fell short in a few areas as well
I am an italian hoagie expert btw,
Lets start with the good. The bread, how can you go wrong with an amoroso roll from philly, fantastic. The meat and cheese was not your standard boarshead(which sucks now btw since they became commercially available everywhere) or thummans. It was flown in from a butcher shop in san Francisco and was absolutely outstanding. I believe the cheese was as well and it was absurdly good. The areas of this hoagie that fell short for me was their were no hot peppers (maybe i needed to ask) but more than that was the lettuce. It was a big dark green leaf and that just ruins things. A good italian has finely chopped iceberg lettuce. Its a very simple fix. I also will say the dressing was very unique, not bad per say but it was very very different than most Italian dressings ive seen on hoagies. It looked like honey mustard actually. Still this place is really good and you should definitely go. Its very rare i ever give any delis five stars.
Mark Herman
The only thing in NOLA that comes close to a real deli. Add to that the funky atmosphere, the mix of locals, tourists and college kids it's great. Good pastrami, corn beef, lox and bagels too
Colt Stubbs
Very reminiscent of the Jewish delicatessens in NYC in almost every way: pastrami, smoked fish, bagels, rye bread, weirdly niche grocery items, annoyed guys taking your order. Super glad this is a non-Kosher deli, because the hot pastrami and cheese sandwich is something I never knew I needed, and every time I visit, I seem to order just that.
Christian Hochhalter
Always love it here, small busy deli with a northeast appeal. Amazing sandwiches, bagels, and breakfast. If you are particular about your bagel (i.e. From New York) this is the closest you will get to a great bagel in NOLA.
John Paul
I've stopped in a few times for sandwiches or bagels and have always been impressed with the quality of the food.
Bella
The Reuben sandwich is so good. Average. Friendly staff
David Glustrom
The staff is charmingly rude. Hole in the wall sandwich shop. I’d recommend the Philly on Tuesday, good bagels and lox, great beer selection, 5 star Reuben. Affordable and delicious.
Byron Buck
One of my favorite sandwich shops in town. Great selection, feels like more of a market than a restaurant. Food was Very well executed. Nice cold local beer selection.
Brian N
I got the Italian hoagie and it was probably the best I've ever had. Actually it was the best, by far. The bread totally blew me away. The service was awesome. I just simply asked what he recommended and he almost overwhelmed me with information and options. I love this place.
Colby Taperts
As close as you can get to a authentic New York deli... great sandwiches, odd looks for changing things on your order, asking questions or stumbling the order
Hands down best sandwiches in New Orleans probably better then most places in New York. Worth it
shalika sprowal
As a Philly native, the decor is as awesome as the food. Love the whitefish salad & bagels & my husband is obsessed with the Rachel sandwich.
Vanessa Pena
Although it's crowded, it still gets five stars. The effort put into making sandwiches unique definitely delivers. Even the coffee from their separate stand within was great; sugar not even needed!
Richard Gilbert
Very friendly staff, this was the first time but definitely will not be the last. Ya have to try THEIR Muffaletta, it has a unique twist to it that sets it apart from others.
Spencer P.
There are literally no words for me to express how much i love this place. I'm originally from Long Island, NY and have been struggling to find a good bagel (if any bagel at all) and a good BECSPK down here. Well I can finally say i don't have to look any further! Steins is authentic of a NY style deli as you can get. Bagels, breakfast sandwiches, ny style deli salads they have it all! 100% recommend for any Northeastern transplants and anyone else who wants an authentic ny style bagel!
Chris H
Line up out the door was enough for me to take a chance on ordering. Didnt know what to get until I made it to the front. Bit of a wait for the food but totally worth it. Ate the "Rachel" sandwich. So good.
Cynthia Lamantia
Get the Rachel. Kinishes were great! Will try the Cuban next.
Stephen Dunne
New York in New Orleans! The owner is gruff and blunt but he has a hidden gem where you can great a great sandwich. Oh and check out their insane beer selection out back!
Alison Zink
Great little deli on Magazine St. They have a quality selection of sandwiches, and an area with picnic tables to eat in if you desire. There's also one of the few places in New Orleans to carry decent bagels.
Scott Pacult
Funky market and deli. Food is delicious. Great for breakfast or lunch. Largest beer selection I've ever seen in a market in Nola. Owner is hilarious.
Sean Johnstone
Absolutely best place in town for bagels and northeastern style sandwiches. As someone who grew up in the greater NYC and Philly area, I can confidently say that Stein does an amazing job of having that piece of home in New Orleans
Bob Bolin
The Rachel on seeded rye! I always get that and did so today. But I also got the Italian Hoagie today. Ate half of each. Delicious!
Ray Henderson
Great Corned Beef sandwich! Pleasant staff. Nice selection of hard to find canned fish delicacies. I'll be back.
Cara
My husband and I come here as often as we can. We love the food and beer selection. My one and only critique would be the customer service, sometimes they give off a bad vibe. Other than that. We love this place.
Derek Davis
Steins is delicious. If you’re looking for a delicious sandwich/deli, you’ve found it. Quick service, great food. Not a lot of seating though, so you might be stuck standing.
Stefanie Jemison
Their reuben is incredible. Best reuben outside of New York. I also love their bagel and lox. The service is basic deli style. If you are polite they will give it back in kind.
Life Travel Goals
We went back to this place! i love to try new places and don't go to the same place a lot but this place was great and worth it to go back again! great prices on beer and really great food! it is in a very rustic old building but that is New Orleans. if you dont like that dont go anywhere in the city!
Ryan Mase
Amazing sandwich, fun vibe, would definitely recommend
Jess H
The beer room alone is a great reason to go, the sandwiches and other food is amazing. Definitely a place to check out and take some bagels home with you.
Maggie Mae
Only got to try the Sam (pastrami, Swiss, Cole slaw) on seeded. So great. Wanted to get one to go for the flight home but knew the Cole slaw would kill the bread too soon. This place is a def must try
Debbie Tye
I dont even know where to begin. The food here is truly amazing. The sandwiches are always stuffed and sooo good!I usually can only eat half because it's so big. All are made to order, so it does take time to get it, but definately worth it.
William Ercole
Best sandwiches in the city, hands down. Add to it that they have a *choice* selection of craft beer and you could probably survive off of only frequenting Stein's for the rest of your life.
Aaron
A no nonsense deli. But with great food and service. While the place is small, it still had ample room to sit. While it was busy, they were very fast and patient. And the food was excellent.
Daniel Beauchamp
Ok, samwhiches are ridiculous good, really good! Come for breakfast or lunch and throw down. I forgot to take pics sorry I'm slacking.
Also to note this place is very casual, order at counter and limited seating. Also can get busy on weekends.
Corina Calsing
My husband's grandfather used to make tongue sandwiches for him, so we went for the nostalgia factor, but the tongue sandwich (seeded rye, swiss, mustard and nothin' else) is great. I'd never had it, and going in I expected chewy to be the predominant impression, but it was tender and had a slightly spiced taste like a light corned beef.
We also shared the Saturday special, Italian style beef, which could have been served by a slice of cheese, but that's probably not traditional. The pickled vegies on the sandwich were crisp and had a great bite to them.
And don't go to Steins just for the sandwiches. They have an outstanding beer selection as well.
The one downside? Limp pickles or ones that are so fresh as to be considered cucumbers. That really is just a taste thing though. I like crispy and garlicky, which these weren't.
Alejandro
Disclaimer: I'm such a regular at Stein's that when I call in an order they recognize my number and know what I want right away.
That being said: If you're looking for a non-po boy shop in New Orleans, there really isn't a better place than Stein's for a northeast-style sandwich. For my money, only Cochon Butcher and St. James Cheese Co. come close when it comes to the quality of sandwiches and neither has as big a portion as Stein's. I get the TCM nearly every time (turkey, lettuce, tomato and avocado on whole wheat bread) but all of their sandwiches are incredible. They also have an incredible craft beer selection and have found some great values on their discount wines.
Obviously, nothing will ever replicate a real NYC deli in New Orleans, but this is as close as it gets.
The only drawback is that there's little room to sit and it can get over-crowded during rush hours. But if you're in a hurry, just call in your order and take it to go.
Anna Bourn
The BLT is to die for! The staff was great like always! Today I went in the early evening so they were much slower than they are during their lunch rush. Stein's rocks!
Sarah E
This is my favorite sandwich place in town. It can get crowded but they're still pretty fast. Make sure to check out the beer room in back!!
Jason Beaman
The best sandwiches in New Orleans come from Stein’s! Everyone should try the Reuben at least once, but any sandwich you order is regret free.
Xylon Ferrell
Food is INCREDIBLE! Beer selection, like none I have ever seen...
Joe Gerrity
In a city known for great food, steins flies under the radar a bit despite being hands down the best deli. From sandwiches, bagels and bread to fresh squeezed orange juice, an awesome beer selection and candy, steins crushes it.
Derek Pipher
AMAZING BREAKFAST AND LUNCH SANDWICHES! ONE OF THE BEST IN ALL OF NEW ORLEANS!
David Samsel
They have great breakfast and lunch. All of it is reasonably priced. They have a mini coffee shop as well. Coffee is good. Wide variety of beer. Reminds me of Philly.
Matthew Bienvenue
great Philly style deli, best beer bottle selection in town. Dan's like your cool but douchey older brother after his first divorce but before his second marriage.
Orlando Caside
Great place, good service and food. Don't forget to get a glass of wine..Get relax. 👌 …
Michael Gerhold
On the best delis in New Orleans had a problem recently and sent the text to that customer service and the owner texted right back. Explain their new covid-19 policy and the problem was resolved I went back about a week later and sure enough I had no problem at all once I knew how it all worked
Dusty Firebird
Great sandwich. Fast service. Looks like the owner is nice enough to hire ex-cons too. (Kidding) Decent prices considering the size and quality.
Mary Beilman
A touch of NYC in New Orleans. Excellent bagels with real lox Wonderfully funky atmosphere. Reubens to die for.
Looks like it's been there 100 years. Gourmet meat and cheese counter.
Maverick Farr
Authentic and very tasty Philly fare at ok prices. Expect to be squished like sardines the entire time you are there. It’s just part of the experience.
Kizzy Vieux
Best pastrami sandwich in town!!! Order the Rachel. You're welcome.
Christal Williams
Absolute BEST Reuben I've ever had. I have been on a quest seeking the World's Best Reuben and have found it.
Ryan Cook
This is set up like a grocery, with one of the best beer selections in the city, but it's also a delicatessen. If you want deli food, there's nowhere better in town.
James Estabrook
One of the best allys I've ever been to they had so many classic deli dishes the Ruben was spectacular piled high with corned beef that just melted in your mouth the rye bread was crunchy couldn't say enough about that sandwich beverages were really great coffee was on point vegetarian options as well not many places have that when you go to deli it was phenomenal coming from somebody who grew up in delis that is Uncle owned
Juliusaurus (Juliusaurus)
As a Chicagoan, I was pretty damn impressed with their Italian Beef. Also excellent coffee here!
Joshua Beck
Panini de Hippie, full sour pickles and pumpernickel bagel are my go-tos. Stein's is the best. Still the best beer selection in town, too.
Jason Kowieski
Great east coast deli and sandwich shop with extensive carryout beer selection. A must if you're in the Garden District.
Laurel Kemper
The sandwiches here are next level. Great selection of craft beer and international goods as well.
Christopher Nave
Had a Sam's - never knew pastrami could be so heavenly. 👼 …
Tyler Hudgins
4.5 would be my real rating... Or sandwiches were very good. The place can be hard to spot and do not go during a rush time because it's a cramped location
Paula
My son and I went here for lunch after antique shopping. I was so impressed with the absolutely delicious Chicken Panini I had!!!! Wow!!! They also have quite an impressive beer selection!!!
Cannibal Gurl
Oh my. I judge a deli by either their chicken salad, pastrami on rye or a Ruben. I had the chicken salad here. It was delicious! I can't wait to go back.
Katherine “KaT” Kennedy
It was good and the right amount of food. Not a friendly place accept for the young man at the counter.
Jessica Talia
Noisy & crowded but the food is decent. It’s not a ‘real’ NY deli but it’s close. Not a great choice if you’re in a rush or with a large group as seating is limited and usually there’s a line especially at lunch.
CJ Thomas
Good food, horribly inefficient ordering process. Very long wait and rude, it was funny.
Andy Egan
Best Deli in NOLA.
Eric Zuniga
Stein's is an institution in this city. Best sandwiches and bagels. And Dan will carry cases of beer to your car blocks away for you. Never enough knishes, though.
Kent Prochazka
Insanely good Mumbler - prosciutto with arugala, tellagio and balsamic vinegar. I would give it 9.5. Good Rueben too but the Saturday special Italian was bland and ended up ordering another Reuben.
Liam O'Neill
bec's were excellent on everything bagels and it was all certainly worth the money. will be returning
Travis Combel
In a town of po-boys and muffulettas, this is a first class sandwich shop with a top notch beer to go (only) selection. Have the Rachel and thank me later.
Pouyan Forghani
Perfect sandwiches, salads, and bear selection for reasonable price 👌 …
Laura Lee Wolfson
Dan Stein's Matzo Ball soup is awesome and was a hit last night at a non traditional Seder. The kids asked for seconds and thirds and the grown ups raved about the Xim and Spring salads. Thanks for helping me make a memory with my first Seder.
Flavio Caldera
Be patient, this place can be crowded, your wait won't be too long. Have a beer, ice tea, coffee while you wait, you will be well rewarded. Corn beef special was incredible!
joseph donovan
My favorite sandwich in town! Never disappoints.
Jeremiah Heierman
Fun place with good food.
Willo Wisp
Friendly service and quality food. Here is my Cobb salad with spring dressing. It was divine.
Kyle S
Breakfast sandwiches here are fantastic. Famous for their bagel selection...99% sure they're flown in from NY or Philly.
Mohsin Saber
Come here every time I visit NOLA. Best bagels in town. Try their specialty cream cheeses. You will not be disappointed.
Corsiatto
Big fan of Cherry coffee located inside of the deli. The coffee is a rotating cast of roasters. One of the best shots of espresso I've had in New Orleans.
Anna Barton
Great food and amazing beer selection!
Kate R
These sandwiches are delicious! I love how many options there are so I can always try something new!
Brett Burris
Went there just for their beer selection and it was amazing. The man in charge even took time to help me choose and not miss any I needed based on my taste. And he called me a cab when I was done shopping. Above and beyond. Thanks.
Emily Raulston
Pleasantly surprised with the Thursday special!
Joseph Perra
Sandwiches, excellent. Beer selection, exceptional. Best breakfast bagels. Just go, be friendly and share your space.
rob M.
Great as always.. btw, was the only place I could get good Yehuda Matzos toward the end of Passover.. Although I usually come here for the incredible beer selection in the back.
Corbin LeGrand
A pricey, but delicious sandwich. The beer selection is top notch. Don't forget the back beer room.
Travis Bailey
We just got a BLT and a ham/egg/cheese bagel, but both were super delicious... We'll be back on next visit.
Matthew Welch
Great place for food and also any keg of beer you can think of, usually the next day! Love this place, Owner is always there and is passionate about the quality.
Lita Poehlman
The place is memorable! There's no place like it anywhere else. Love the food! Get a kick out of Deadpan Dan, the owner.
Eden Shlomi
The only thing you need to get is the rachel. My friend got an itallian sub it was gross. I got the rachel and was in heaven. 5 stars just for the best sandwich you are gonna get in this whole city
S F
Amazing food and an even more amazing beer selection. I came here primarily for an amazing Reuben but also to grab a caseload of various beers not readily available in my area.
Kyle O
Awesome food, great beer selection. Lunch is slammed so if you don't mind the wait you'll get awesome food.
Sam Cashio
The caprese made me feel like I was in Tuscany I loved it when the eponymously named owner told me "no bagels for you." It made me think of one of the great characters on Seinfeld
todd maysonave
I lived in Manhattan for 20 years....this place is like being transported back to NYC...it's BY FAR, one of my favorite places in NOLA....cool staff....quick service.... outdoor seating....AWESOME!
Mike Greaney
Reuben was a little underwhelming , service in New Orleans is not New York . Could be less Yankee
Veronica Campi
Some of the best in New Orleans and a must if in the neighborhood. The usual suspects as well as more original. All delicious!
neil herschkowitz
For New Orleans it's ok. Grew up in New York with Katz's and a host of famous places. Steins gets some of it right. It's almost there, but not quite.
J.D. Lewis
If you grab a handful of the suns light, and put it between to soft buns and sprinkle pixie dust on top you still wouldn't come close to how good the sandwiches are....😂😂😂😂
#bestnoladeli
#neversellout
Jeff Smith
This place is a one of a kind gem. Food is delicious and their beer selection is second to none
John Florkiewicz
Specials are Banging! Today had a Philly pork wit Provolone and Broccoli Rabe. Gone, that was a damn good sandwich.
Monika Sandlin
The owner is amazing as is the food. The staff are friendly and market has an abundance of different items to purchase both in the Deli area and one the shelves!
N Sturgess
Great place. So glad I heard about this spot. Good food and wide selection of craft beer. Found some rare beers here!!
Sogand Ka
Must go in NOLA with cool sandwiches and awesome pickles!!!
dc raymond
Only real deli in the city. Best Reuben of the places we have left (R.I.P. Jimmy). Just wish they had fries.
Charlie Bini
Dan's da man. Besides the sandwiches and beer, he's my plug for northeastern stuff I can't get at the grocery stores here (Diamond Crystal, Taylor ham calabrese peppers, attitude, etc)
Eric Carr
They got a variety of cream cheese, for your smootz
Stephanie Massouda
Get the salty lox, you won't regret it.
Oliver Frischknecht
The best fall salad I have ever had. Cool place
Bohemian Brosay
The sandwiches are a MUST. Quick service despite how busy it stayed. Everyone working there was super helpful.
Rayburn Clipper
Very busy place, very crowded so be mindful if you go in there with more than 4 people, it will get very tight. They have seating inside and outside. Food was fast and good.
Samirah Kern
Delicious bagels, great service! The best way to start your day!
Ariel Levy
Oh man, the bagels. Get a bagel. Get a dozen bagels. Buy all the bagels they have and also a freezer chest and keep those bagels for days when you've lost faith in humanity. If you want a beer or a soda they probably have the one you want, too, but the bagels...that's why you should visit.
Kendrick Magallanes
Slightly longer wait than most delis but everything is portioned and prepared to order; well worth it. Cozy environment and down to earth staff.
AL Piccininni
Hands down best New York style deli in New Orleans owner Dan is the most smiling happiest man I've ever seen
Joseph Delaney
Little taste of home for any one from NY, Philly or Boston. Best bagels in NOLA and great sandwiches
deb craine
Excellent deli food & beer selection. The best
Andy O'Bryan
Best deli in town - and be sure to sneak back thru the kitchen area and outside to the courtyard to find one of the best beer rooms around...
Chris Good
Probably in the top 5 best sandwiches I've had. Try the Sam sandwich with pastrami, it's amazing
Guido Salas
Excellent winery and liquor store. Personel are very helpful.
Martin Mulvihill
The Rueben sandwich is dynamite. The potato salad off the hook.
Michael McIntyre
Pandemic protocol strictly enforced for everyone’s safety. Fast, friendly, fresh and delicious.
Stephen Francis
A genuine Philadelphia deli transplanted to New Orleans. They've got a great shtick and a great shmear. A true gem.
Jeremy Simmons
One of the best sandwiches in Nola. Never disappoints.
Matthew Cannon
The Rachel, potato salad, celery soda. I'll accept tips via Venmo. You're welcome.
J. F. (JF)
I go to Jewish delis in every town I visit and this one is authentic! Highly recommend this place if you’re in NOLA.
Tony Mostek
Amazing place! Sandwiches are amazing and they have a huge beer selection.
Bill Hindman
Excellent hot pastrami sandwich on seated rye with creole mustard.
James McDaniel
Hip grungy local delivery, with my favorite mufellatta in the city, and a great place to buy cheap walking beers with a great selection.
Rashaad Kauterman
The rueben was really good and lots of beer choices
Mariann L
Stein's is cool. The meatball subs are real good.
Randy Sprague
As is typical for many small restaurants in New Orleans, great food, crowded and not enough seating but worth waiting for.
stephen greer
Delicious spot for great deli sandwiches. We will be back.
david B
Best deli sandwiches in the city plus one of the best retail stores for craft beer.
Tom McGee
Great place for a Philly hoagie fix or anpoek roll and cheese sandwich! Great coffee too.
Carrie Tedore
A must for lunch whenever we're in town. Pick anything you cannot go wrong.
Les Zmolik
All the employees are dressed in giant beer steins made of glass. You must call ahead to enter the building the secret password is breakable.
scott johnson
Amazing crew over there, the food is out of this world good. The beer selection is the best ....dan is the man
Suzi Tingler
Bagels are deeeeelish! Awesome sandwiches plus all sorts of other weird stuff. Love it!
Breja Boles
