Reviews of Koppa's Fulbeli Deli
Bryce Hellenbrand
Their deli has some of the best sandwiches you will ever have! Skip the subway subs and the Jimmy John's. Support local and try their amazing sandwiches! Plenty of options to choose from at a very cheap price! A must try in the Milwaukee area! Perfect for grabbing to go and having a picnic by the water. Highly highly suggest!

I used to live nearby, so I would stop over for a hot sandwich at a fair price when I didn't want to cook. They have some light groceries including spaghetti, incense, and candy. Half the store is a liquor store, carrying a good split of hard liquor, beer, and selection of wine at decent prices. Individual soft drinks available.

I stopped here on a 3 month road trip and thought this place was great! It was such a cool little spot that of all the places I went, when I left Koppa's I actually wanted to leave a good review for them. The sandwiches were very interesting and yummy and the owner was super nice! The prices are fair, the beer selection was impressive and they have Atari in the back! I definitely plan on stopping here next time I'm in Milwaukee.

I'll be honest, Koppa's has a really TOP-NOTCH menu and some of the best sandwiches in the city, but when placing orders over the phone for carryout, I ROUTINELY get hung up on before I can finish ordering. Is it that crazy to order more than one delicious sandwich? Snack selection is great and beer choices are a-plenty, but If you're going to offer 5-star quality sandwiches, PLEASE have customer service to match! I'm just trying to buy more fantastic subs!

I've been coming here for years. I've lived in other states too, but this is my favorite deli and corner store I've been to and glad to be back close to it. Excellent sandwiches, full grocery, beer cave, and large liquor section. Final bonus is an ATM, it's come in handy more times than I could imagine.

Having lived on the Lower East Side for a few years now, it's always been nice to have Fulbeli Deli around. While it's not a go-to place for groceries with a Pick 'n' Save and Walgreens nearby, it does offer some great services with its large alcohol selection and full-service deli (with lots of good sandwich options, all of which have clever names). If you're ever around and need a small item for baking or cooking, chances are you'll be able to find it here. Friendly staff, renovations have made it a nicer place inside, fun little Atari machine at the back. Never had a bad shopping experience here!

I will say it’s appearance is a bit offputting- my boyfriend insisted we grab sandwiches here and I was hesitant. I think the place needs a bit of a face lift and they still had Christmas cookies on display in late January- BUT absolutely delicious sandwich and for a great price. They have a really great menu and you can grab some snacks and beer and be on your way. Definitely a hole in the wall but I was really pleased

I drove past this several times and assumed it was just a corner store/small grocer, until I noticed the sign for sandwich specials. I went it for the $3.99 lunch special, which was over by the time I got there. However they have an extremely large variety of sandwiches, many with funny names, most of which seem to be variations on common sandwiches with extra toppings.
The names and the variety and the minute differences do make it hard to choose a sandwich, I eventually settled on on what appeared to be a variation of an Italian panini. The ingredients were good, and fresh, with plenty of meat. It was about normal sandwich size. It appears they just used regular sliced bread in a panini press. The extra ingredients in this case were sliced raw peppers, which seemed odd, but I wanted to try the sandwich as it came. They didnt make sense to me as an extra ingredient. It did seem like a small sandwich for the $8 price tag.
Looking around, it at first appears to be your average small grocery store with a deli counter but there are lots of interesting details. There are recliners and lounge chairs to relax in while waiting for your food. There is a moose head. There is lots of quirky decor mixed in with circa 1960s corner store lights and shelving-- personally I prefer the retro, non-remodeled feel, compared to the rebuilt gentrified stores elsewhere.
I didnt look at any of the grocery items, but there were some snacks at the register that caught my eye. The prices seemed a little steep and I didnt need them so I opted against.
I dont know if I'd go out of my way for any of their sandwiches, especially at the price point. I'll have to try more and see if there's one that's magic. The one I tried was good, but not magic, and $8 for a normal sized sandwich. But still, this is way better than your average corner store grocer and I bet it's a gem if you live nearby.

This place initially appears to be a random (pricey) downtown grocery stop, but head to the deli counter in the back where they serve up some seriously tasty sandwiches. Their customizable breakfast sandwiches are available all day and incredibly affordable. I customized mine to include an egg, swiss cheese, ham and the cranberry mustard and fell in love (priced right around $3). They also have a large menu of different sandwich offerings to select from and my husband is a huge fan of the Baron Rogers which rings up for less than $6. Great prices, great food = happy people.

I remember back in the 1990s when I used to live in the east side it look a lot different then but the store Koppa's then it had a lot of groceries on the selves, a deli counter and 3 cash registers. Today I went there for old-time sakes the store looks stripped down of groceries 1 cash register and it's not the same I blame the virus taking down this store I hope one day the store I once remember back in the 90s will come back. I am glad to still see the store is still there.

Forget the fact that they're a little specialty grocery and liquor store, that's just the icing on the cake. The real attraction here is the deli. Their sandwiches are FANTASTIC. I can't think of anywhere else I can get a breakfast sandwich for less than four bucks, let alone one as good as the Hodag. All their non breakfast options are great as well, but the hodag has always been, and will always be my go-to.
Simon Farintosh
Living close to this gem of a store has been super convenient! Although it doesn't look like much from the outside, they manage to fit in pretty much every household item you could desire. Snacks abound, they have an enormous liquor section, and there are even some funny little critters on top of the shelves.
Adam Theune
Great sandwiches! Packaged items are a bit steep for the sake of the urban convenience, with a few discounted items that may be closer to expiration, however, if you grab something from a rack or a cart, you might want to let the cashier know, ive regretably left having accidentally paid upwards of 2 dollars for something from a cart lableled "99¢"
Nick Wolf
I've enjoyed Koppa's for years. While it is a bit pricier for grocery items, they have a large selection of alcohol which is priced just right. Don't forget their deli in the back where you can order from a variety of uniquely-named sandwiches. The Baaron Rodgers is my favorite with a side of onion rings.
Taylor Belmer
I give Koppa’s 5 stars for the food and 2 stars for the presentation and staff. It’s not the cleanest place, there’s a lot of old charm and sometimes the young college-kid staff acts like they’d rather be anywhere else lol.
But don’t take that as a super negative! Because you come here for the food and that’s what’s important. 5 stars for the food every time. Koppa is a Milwaukee gem.
And by “food” I mean the sandwiches. The grocery is overpriced for a full shop. Koppa is a great grab-and-go type of place.
Back to the sandwiches: They are the best in Milwaukee, no contest. If you need a great sub, come here. Breakfast sandwiches, too!
David G
If have a hankering for a plainly delicious sandwich, I go to Koppas! I usually get the Bread Farve, or Barron Rogers, but to be honest I haven’t been terribly let down with any sandwich I got here. They have a small seating area to eat in, and they sell limited groceries as well (the basics).
Dara Kaye
This quirky convenience-store-cum-deli is awesome. They've got everything from shampoo to fresh bananas, with an impressive beer/wine/liquor selection packed into a small section on the far side of the store. It's a lifesaver when I've run out of eggs or milk or--heaven forfend--wine. Every neighborhood should be so lucky.
Gigi Vici
Only been there once food was pretty good but other 5 star reviews had my expectations a little higher. Not the absolute best you'll ever have, but definitely a contender in Milwaukees sandwich game. Not to mention it is locally owned If you're thinking about it go try them out!
Neil Franzen
Local grocery at its finest (and most colorful). The supermarket standards are all available, but Koppa's shines with made-to-order sandwiches and prepared foods. Wine and beer selection is quite respectable. Play some classic Atari video games while waiting.
Mitchell Young
Great neighborhood store. It's much more than a Bodega and their sandwiches are the best on the Eastside. They are a full grocery store and have an extensive beer cave to boot. Best of all they have a free to play Atari 2600 with all the classics. Now if only they would sell me that giant Jabba the Hutt statue they have...
Kevin Radmer
Get the HODAG! Also, the occasionally long wait time for deli sandwiches can be mitigated by playing the awesome Atari console/library set-up they have. Sandwiches here are very fairly priced for what you get, and the walk-in beer cooler is always a plus.
joe shefsky
Truly the best sandwiches in Milwaukee! Been coming here for over 10 years, usually once a weekend over the summer. A sandwich for everyone, even the most discerning of palates. You guys rock!
SUBURPIA LAYTON
Last week as I walked past the store for the first time, I looked at the menu posted outside the door, and my eyes fell on "The Satyr," which I thought was a very intriguing name. Yesterday I came for a sandwich while doing my laundry, and discovered that The Satyr actually was the most appealing choice based on the descriptions as I read through the menu--and only $4! So naturally I went inside and ordered the Satyr. As I waited I was pleased to see some good looking pastas and my favorite flavor of chips which I rarely see anywhere--Spicy Thai Kettle chips!! Anyway, I was amazed how big the sandwich was for only $4. It was also the best food I have eaten in I can't say how long. As I sit here, I can't stop thinking about it and recreating the taste of it in my mouth. I wish I could go right now but I'm stuck at work. Wow.. it was really fate that I discovered the SATYR!!!!

I started to go here for the convenience of it being right next to my lower East side apartment, and I found out the have an amazing deli located in the store. The food is awesome and they have a bunch of different options.

Koppa's Fulbeli Deli is an inexplicably hidden treasure.
Half-bodega, half-deli, half-liquor store, Koppa's fits a certain magic into its relatively modest walls. It's my favorite place on the East Side, and it absolutely deserves your patronage. This review will primarily focus on the sandwiches prepared entirely in-house at the back deli counter, with special focus on one sandwich in particular.
That sandwich is the Hodag.
The Hodag is one of my favorite sandwiches, bar-none. Ordering this monstrosity is an ordeal: you futilely rub well-worn crayons against a wilted, laminated order form, hoping that, upon submission, you guide the sandwich-maker down your chosen path. With the Hodag, your choices are legion, each new decision adding cents to your total sandwich tab. My (thoroughly researched and peer-reviewed) order is as follows:
English Muffin, two Amish-style eggs, bacon, onions, mushrooms, Fulbeli sauce.
It's an ugly and sloppy affair, but one that you're glad to experience. The flavors, no matter your chosen combination, meld well, and everything is just greasy enough to balance your desires for a complex, well-crafted meal with the satisfaction of griddle-fried-depravity. The Hodag leaves you feeling heartier than before, warmed by a single-serving portion of Sunday morning wrapped tightly in butcher paper. It's a sandwich that - whether or not it would be as delicious- you absolutely could (and absolutely should) make on your own, but for $4.50 (+/- $0.25) and the knowledge that you can now save your effort for more important matters (like napping), it's a worthwhile investment that supports one of my favorite local businesses.
I'm less experienced and nowhere near as well-worn by their other sandwich offerings. Of the ones I've tried, I've never been disappointed.
Jonathan Baranick
Had a really cool Batcave. Friendly staff.
Matt Bramm
A Milwaukee institution. It's been around for years and has great sandwiches. Quality place for a quick snack or lunch on the go. Good beverage selection.
Sean Kelly
My go-to lunch place in Milwaukee. The Satyr is a great sandwich and a great value. They have an old school giant Atari consul that you can play while you wait for your food to be made.
Brian W
My family moved over 15 years ago and every time we come back to visit, we have to come back to Koppa's. They are hands down one of the best sandwiches places in Milwaukee.
Emily McNulty
We love Koppa's. Not only has it stood the test of time, everything you need is there. And their deli sandwiches are unmatched in Milwaukee.

Deli meets convienence store. Home of the Hodag. The best place to grab a breakfast sandwich after a night out in Milwaukee. Did I mention it's cheap?
