Reviews of Barnes & Noble
Went with a friend to look at board games...she bought three. Saw a Naruto Monopoly game. Since my son likes anime, I thought I'd send him a picture. There is a Starbucks there, so you can have a drink and a snack while you enjoy your books. There are also board games and puzzles. Pick up a calendar while you're there. Lots of gifts for your book loving, game loving, puzzle loving friends.
Great selection of wellness books and journals, but layout didn't make sense. The wellness journals and notebooks were across the store from the books on wellness and mental health. Would make sense for them all to be together in one area. Staff was all friendly and helpful, and there is plenty of seating at the in-store Starbucks. Great drink specials at the in-store Starbucks too!
Who doesn't love the smell of a book store??? I know I do. It's a lovely, huge place with clearly labeled sections and generally well organized selections therein. The kids section is also very nice and offers a book reading time for kids on the weekends where an employee comes over and reads a pile of books to the kids while they either listen or build with Legos in the table. Also there's a Starbucks inside of you're into that dirty of thing.
I have always loved coming to Barnes & Noble. I use to sit and do my homework when it was located next to the mall. I have visited the new location a few times. I enjoy the overall atmosphere and plan on making in a regular thing
Love the book signing table. I got the pleasure of meeting local author Cindy Callaghan & got the book signed while I was there. The staff were friendly & polite. I will definitely be going back. 😁 …
This BN has a real inviting cafe area with plenty of tables and a great long length table in front of the magazines (nestled gently behind the cafe) the variety is impeccable
Very good selection of books and novelty items. Coffee shop inside also looked and smelled delicious
this it's probably the cleanest/neatest/organized/quietest B& N around. ..all staff members are great too . ..awesome study-spot
Clean a lot of different books stuff staff very friendly and helpful
Huge and pretty and very well organized, with a cafe and ample seating areas
Small for a BnN but pleasant and has a small cafe and eating area.
It has a long huge desk like table right in front of the magazines I absolutely love it
Pretty good bookstore complete with a coffee shop that also has bakery items.
Went in and it was quiet, all aisle marked to proper locations of categories and the prices were very reasonable. Could not get my child out of the store, she wanted to sit and read her books we purchased. And so we did.
I love books but it's almost always hard to find someone to help. People seem to get use to that because they ask customers questions instead of finding an employee.
Smaller than the location at the Concord mall. The cafe offers a variety of pastries and flat breads along with Starbucks coffee and refreshers.
It's rare to find a good bookstore with great selection. The coffee bar is an added plus. As with everywhere post COVID, they could use better staffing.
Love this location! I used to go to their prior location before they moved here down the road, and I love how they've modernized it and made it easy to find what you're looking for. Their Cafe has amazing food too (who doesn't love pizza filled pretzels!?!) and their drinks are delicious. Grateful to have a Barnes and Noble so close to home. ❤
Their shop online and pick up at the store is convenient. They also have friendly staff. In addition to book selection, they also offer unique greeting cards.
I haven't been to many locations but I would definitely recommend this one to anyone. It is clean, always organized, there are staff members all around the store, never in the way but always right there if you need help if that makes sense. Not to mention, they're all very knowledgeable. And not just poiint-in-the-right-direction knowledgeable, but ask them something like "I'm looking for something for my son, he's in the 4th grade", they will ask the skill level and then direct you to books, specific books, that will not only make reading fun, but also match and exceed the reading skill level. It's like each associate read every book in there!! Jk but you get the gist. 😄😄
Beautiful. Open and inviting. It has a clean and contemporary layout that feels like a huge university library and bookstore at the same time. There are comfortable places to read throughout the store. I was surprised that background music was absent. Maybe the music will be brought back soon for patrons. I loved my experience!
I was afraid the new model would place less emphasis on books and more on toys, effectively making it a Toys R' Us, but boy was I pleasantly surprised! The store is smaller, but I feel it has lots more space to give books visibility. I love it! The employees are nice and helpful, and I love the self-serve kiosk where you can search for books to see if they're in stock.
The reviews on the new store are just plain harsh. I love the new location. It’s like a “Border’s” reboot! If we don’t support the local bookstore, they will all be swallowed up by Amazon. Is this what we want?! Please show your support to this bookstore and try to overlook the fact that there is another STARBUCKS nearby, but it is not in the same parking lot. Frankly, both are awesome spots to have a beverage and get things done like email, a spot of reading, etc. The store has a homier feel the more you visit, so give it a chance or you will end up buying all your books from Amazon....and all of your clothing, food, water, and oxygen. I spoke to the management about the children’s section and the reason it is not the same as the previous store is from abuse of the patrons. Children are messy and parents don’t clean up after them. If you want a playground, got to a playground.
It feels a little silly to leave a review for Barnes & Noble, but it is worth noting that the new location is REALLY NICE! It is light and airy and smells a little bit like baked goods, and it has a lot of tables to sit at near the cafe, so it's the ideal place to go to grab a coffee and "do some work on your computer," by which I mean spend five hours reading a literary magazine about 'hygge' with nice photos of chunky sweaters and steaming mugs of tea and oh no, where did the time go, better come back tomorrow and try again.
Barnes and Noble had the books I was looking for and I saved an extra 10% with my membership. Store is well laid out which makes it easy to find what you want. Staff was very cordial. Have been going to Barnes and Nobles for many years.
The new location is very clean and organized. I have been very fortunate to find the items I need on each of my visits. With Amazon, it is difficult for book stores to survive. However, I think Barnes and Noble is doing its best to maintain a store in the Wilmington area.
Friendly personnel working at this place, available to help. Good variety of book and good prices.
I visited this store yesterday, and honestly, it's a disappointment. The magazine section is very pared down, the lighting is glaring, and the store has a sterile feel. The restrooms are weirdly located, like they are in a storage area. We often go to B&N to purchase magazines and buy books, and enjoyed shopping in the old Concord Pike store. Without a robust magazine selection, I might as well order the books. I'll stick with the Christiana Mall store.
Any excuse for a good book store
Nice selection, but it seems more like a warehouse and doesn't have the cozy feel of other B&Ns. There is seating, but it's like a college study room with hard plastic chairs. There are not sitting areas anywhere beyond the cafe area and this large college-esque area, which is next to the cafe. It felt like they just want you to buy your books and get out.
If you are looking for books...you will find them here. Now that that's out of the way let's talk about customer service. I arrived at the store about 30 minutes ago. I knew what I was looking for but just didn't know where to find it. During my search I passed atleast 3 employees atleast 3 times each, and at no time did anyone offer their assistance. There was one employee that stood literally at the end of the aisle in which I was frantically searching. Still no offer of help. However I did eventually find what I was looking for. My next issue was at the register. I always greet everyone "Hello, How are you"? No response from the cashier (she was one of the employees that passed me a few times) so I repeat it a little louder just to make sure that she heard me ...and still no response. She was mumbling something incoherently but I truly believe she was having a cellphone conversation. She never asked me if I was a member (I am). She rings up my purchase and then she just slides it across the counter with the receipt on top. No bag. No "thank you". No "Enjoy your purchase". No "Thank you for shopping at B&N". Nothing! I did kindly slide my purchase and receipts back and ask for a bag. She did bag my item and I thanked her. I truly expected this store to have atleast the very basic customer service but maybe my expectations of mediocrity were too much.

First time I'd been to the new location and it was great. Clean and organized (as all of these places are) but maybe by the outside you wouldn't realize it. Inside there's a cute cafe and the staff is so nice. Would definitely go back!
Had the books we were looking for. Nice to see we still have bookstores
Open and bright layout. Sections are tagged and can be seen clearly from across the store. Friendly staff and a well stocked, brightly lit cafe up front by the windows.
Great place to get books. Not many bookstores left! Reasonable prices and if course they have coffee and basic food. If you still like the feel of paper in your hands and not epaper or tablets then head over ! Recommend.
Clean, open store. Although there are lots of signs the flow is not intuitive, the young adult section is on the opposite side of the store from the young readers, making for an awkward transition when shopping for kids on the brink of moving from one to the other.
Can always find a interesting book or two, but since downsizing stores doesn't have the collection like it use to.
The Barnes & Noble I went to was very nice inside. I was able to find the books that I wanted. The staff was also very helpful, and asked me if I would need any help with whatever I was looking for.
Great literary selection, helpful and friendly staff, café with tasty treats and refreshing drinks—Barnes & Noble has it all! They also have good measures in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Big clean store with a cafe and comfy chairs to sit and read/work in. Reminds me of they way Borders Books was set up.
Store was so hot we couldn't stay long. Lost sales due to being extremely hot. Manager needs to check store temperature and get things fixed to make customers comfortable enough to shop there.
It's a small store, but very modern and with a great selection of books.
The staff at the B&N on Concord Pike and in the coffee shop are always courteous and attentive. The store offers a nice selection and is clean and well-spaced.
Barnes and Noble has a huge selection of books so its perfect for book lovers. The store is always clean and the staff is always nice.
For some reason, many people starred at me.
Nice shopping experience and nice products!
Large selection of books and other items.
Super clean store! Fast and friendly check out too! Love this one so much more then Christiana mall location!!
One of my favorite places
I love this bookstore.cannot grasp the concept of a Starbucks that does not accept a Starbucks card...
You could spend an afternoon here browsing. Grab a tea, pick up a new book a have a seat. Spend sometime quiet reading & getting lost in a new book. Wonderful.
Rarely is there anyone behind the counter at the coffee bar portion. I have frequently had to go look for someone in order to get coffee or a snack.
Clean, well stocked. Plenty of parking available. Check out was quick and friendly.
It's a big-box book store, and decent for that. They didn't have the Lego set I was looking for, though. I'm not sure whose decision that came from.
They got what my kids need from books and coffee. And the staff very helpful in finding what we looking for. Thanks6
Very clean interior, very spacious and calming. They have a deep pool of books to check out.
Great coffee,,and lattes.Well worth a visit,time to relax, and check o
ut the, mags,.
Prices are so high, it is amazing they are still in business.
It’s a smaller one. Wish there was a larger Philosophy, and Architecture section. Staff was friendly and professional.
Gourgous layout though was lillte hard to find exactly what I was looking for and thier scifi fantasy section is incomplete since I found no R.A. Salvatore . It could have been just me
Love this particular location. Great staff, always well stocked, and super clean.
I like the new store. It's much brighter and cheerier. A bit smaller but that may be to their benefit.
There are many advantages to having a membership including discounts not only on books but also on the Lego sets and other educational games.
Very attentive associates
Awesome Store! My family and I come from Pennsylvania to shop.
Barnes & Noble is 8 minutes away from here and best part is tax free shopping in Delaware.
It's a shame they had to down size but I love the look of their new store, very clean and inviting.
Super clean and organized. My daughter loved the children's section!
The majesty of sandwiches and books and coffee and cookies is best experienced here at Barnes & Noble.
New store is nice!
Always love visiting the store...sad that it is smaller now than before, but I do appreciate that it is there...
Was looking for a specific periodical. Staff was extremely helpful in locating it
Small store,but still nice

Was able to find a book on my list and got a great deal on it as well!

A great place to leisurely browse for a good book.

Friendly helpful staff
My favorite place
Huge Manga section. Helpful employees. Prefer this location over Newark now.
I've been using this bookstore for 3 years and they Never disappoint! I called for a new release and the took it off the display and put it behind the counter for me. That's customer service! Kudos to the staff at this Barnes and Noble.
The guy at the starbs was a little off, he made sure I knew it wasn't a real starbucks and wasn't sure how to make a shaken espresso.
