I've been coming here for years. Great selection and a wonderful atmosphere. The staff are welcoming and happy to help. Not only do they sell comics, but they also support trading card games and hold weekly tournaments and have space for casual play.

Stopped by to try my luck on completing a series, but they didn't have what I needed. What they did have is great customer service and a welcoming atmosphere. Everyone here was very friendly and my family had a great time. If you have a little one who loves Spider-Man then stop by and see the giant one they have on display. I'm visiting the area and I'm glad there are a few comic shops to visit. This establishment seems primarily a game and card shop with new and some old comic books. Their back issue selection only goes back so far so if you're looking for hard to find, high priced issues you may have to look elsewhere. Or if you have any specific comic book questions you may have to wait until the owner is there to get those answered, but otherwise it's a very friendly shop and bustling with customers and gamers.

Just passing through town, i decided to stop and check out comic kings. What a fantastic local comic store! Lots of selection, clean and organized. Prices were fair. The staff was friendly and helpful. They also had pokemon and magic cards for sale. If you were on the fence about checking them out, Id say go in and see for yourself.

Bought a collector's set for the Baulder's Gate set (Magic: The Gathering) and he gave me a random mythic for free as per promo guidelines. Conversation is great, the atmosphere is very easygoing, and it's a pretty clean store. Highly recommend going for any pre-releases!

I'm not a local anymore but I grew up a little bit at this store coming every weekend for a few years as a kid. Owner and other workers were always very kind and their store was always fun to just chill in, play some TCGs, see friends. Every time I'm back in town I make an effort to stop on by and it's still a fun and great place to visit. 100% recommend for anything you need comics, TCG, and anything else!

By all means this is the best place to buy and trade comics, cards, collectables in the area. The owners know all there is to know about their store and everything in it. Seen a few reviews on here claiming they are rude or insulting when it comes to working with trades but Ive never had a problem with them. Ive only ever seen rude and belligerent people that get upset when they find out their cards aren't worth as much as they think they are. Make sure to check out the pins they sell too!

It's a pretty cool store. I go there to play yugioh, but I love the selection of the comics ^-^ The bathroom can sometimes be dirty, but they handle it swiftly. They have magick items and pins to sell, seating at this moment is only up to 10 people, they and vending machines for drinks. I believe if you're paying with card you must be buying something no less than 3.50(?) But they may have changed that rule All in all the atmosphere is comforting and you can make friendly acquaintances. Rules are 1. Trading only among your peers, no buying ! And uh, 2. Be respectful(no foul language) 😊

Love this shop. Have been going here for years. Family owned Both Joey's Ms.Dottie and all the other employees never failed to make me feel welcome when I migrated from Comic Chest. Fair prices,decent selection, and odds are they will order any new thing for you, or keep eyes open for back issues for the comics. Joey has had everything from amazing fantasy 15, New mutants 98, and many other keys come through his door so be sure to poke your head in as you never know what he's found lately. Good size for FNM or other card tournaments, and with restrictions being lifted I am sure it will be lively again. MOVE QUICK if you want pokemon though they get cleaned out of the newest sets fast due to the demand as of my writing. They Also have good selection of mtg singles, I have seen power 9 in their cases and even sold reserved list cards myself to them, very fair on negotiating when you sell your cards to them. Carries a small number of toys ranging from 90s era popculture toys to more modern marvel select figures, but they definitely favor cards and comics. There are also high quality enamel pins for sale for pin collectors that my wife loves. All in all to paraphrase a rather average country song by Toby Keith "I love this shop, its my kind of place. Just walkin' in the front door puts a big smile on my face." So if you are in the area visiting, live in Virginia Beach and need a shop for Magic, Yugioh, Pokemom or to start a comic pull. I suggest you look into Comic Kings. They've never let me down. Here is a picture of some of my favorite books I've bought from them to show what you can find.

The best shop in the Hampton Roads area. Staff is knowledgeable and professional. Events were always on the schedule and almost always took place. Never have I seen an event not occur due to lack of attendees. Staff are friendly and are willing to answer questions. They offer a good selection of cards. Pokemon and Yugioh cards brought us here but there are many other items that peak interest. Locals gather to play games and there seems to be sense of community when asked about the games they play. We're happy with the service and plan on returning to learn and play. My son and daughter both like going. While knew Barbie had cards??

Let me start off by saying I LOVE THIS PLACE. I am a regular here and love stopping by to a friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere. The comic prices are for the most part good. I loved their free comic book day event where I got a ton of comic books for a cheap price. Their magic the gathering cards are great, I always buy my cards from here. Also their magic the gathering tournaments are a lot of fun!

Comic Kings is great!!!!! My 12 year son was visiting from out of town and we went there for Yugioh cards and had a blast. He met new friends, traded cards, and played in a Yugioh tournament. He also got $100 get certificate. He said it was the best day of his life, but he only 12. It's going to be hard to top that experience though. Thank you Comic Kings👍

I came all the way from Outer Banks to visit this shop, because it’s just THAT GOOD! Nothing in the area or for miles even comes close to this place. Very welcoming and relaxed vibe here. This is one of the premier places for playing magic and other card games. It is a pretty family friendly place as well seeing as though swearing and similar behavior is frowned upon in the store. The main issue with the store is the fact that it is THE place to go for magic, it attracts a lot of rather difficult people to get along with and the magic crowd is near bloodthirsty when it comes to tournaments. Great if you want to be competitive, not so good if you're a casual player. Great customer service.

Great place for nerds and geeks alike. Tee decor is not corny: the space is amazing, the people are wonderful, and the selection is superb. Unfortunately, the location can get a little confusing, since the front of the store faces vertical and barely visible to the road.

Good card shop. good prices on magic cards, great atmosphere, some players can get annoying. THE ONE THING I HATE, is when I'm just “looking” at a comic on the top shelf and then I get harrased "THOSE ARENT FOR SALE UNTIL TOMORROW" it gets very aggravating and sometimes I even get an attitude from an employee about it. Good store but if you want new comics, I'd recommend elsewhere. It's just too big a headache.

Guy who worked there was very knowledgeable and polite. The place was very clean and organized. I was able to call in for a specified comic book to be put on reservation in advance. I liked how many gaming tables they had and the fact that they do a veriety of magic games(not just commander) and the comics I bought from there were in excellent condition. They have magic cards on display for sale and they have dungeons and dragons books too.

Best comic and card store period. The owner is friendly and so is the staff. Any bad reviews on here are probably just his competition hating. The selection is average but that is because the prices are the best around so they have trouble keeping things in stock. Thanks for being the best, and this comes from someone who is unbiased and frequently visited every comic store in Hampton Roads!

Been going all over Hampton Roads looking for a new spot to get my comic book fix after moving from California and found this gem. The staff was awesome and helpful, the place was clean and organized, the back issue boxes are respectable and the prices are responsible and negotiable. My wife stopped by to get me a birthday gift and said she has never felt so comfortable in a comic shop since leaving the west coast, to me that's a big deal because most shops seem to make women uncomfortable and this place made her feel accepted and equal. This is now my go to spot, thanks guys.

This was my first time visiting Norfolk in a long time. I forgot how many comic book stores there were in a relatively small area. I made it to 4 of them, but this one was by far my favorite. It's clean, organized, has a nice selection, good prices on back issues/variants, and in my 2 visits, the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. I won't be in Virginia Beach often, but when I am, this will be my go to!

The fact that comic book stores are more scarce than they used to be, probably because many people these days don't read; it is always awesome when you see one, however, comparatively , at least in a 45 mile radius, this store stands out for its size and pop culture value .. a little bit of everything I would want to see. This store has New & Old comic books, Memorabilia, and if your in to card tournaments (I, not too much) you will love it. All n' all .. 8 out of 10

Lord help me comic kings is truly a gem of a place. Staff are the friendliest people you could ever interact with and they are always knowledgeable and ready to help you with what you need. They also have a really good selection of product. They also host a ton of tournaments for all different games. I'd give them 6 stars if I could cuz dang if they don't deserve it.

Comic Kings is simply the best comic shop that I have ever been to. In an industry that is full of shady weirdos this shop stands head and shoulders above any other shop on the east coast. They have great prices on every book on their wall. They offer real market prices when purchasing from collections, and are spot on when grading. If you are a serious collector and want something all you have to do is ask. Finally, the last thing I thought I would ever say about a comic shop, I TRUST THEM, and I have never been disappointed.

Everything they have on the wall is fairly priced and the owner is totally legit, will not BS you to try to rip you off. I don’t usually review stores, but Comic Kings truly deserves a shout-out! Best store in Hampton Roads as far as selection (both backissues and modern day), an always extremely clean store, the books are very well cared for (even the ones worth $2), and the owner shows a true appreciation of the customer and comic. So many people jack the old books up to the point where no one can afford them. The owner wants the customer to enjoy the comics and prices them all at a very fair and affordable price. A smile, a nod, help offered, and clear knowledge of repeat customers only adds to the welcoming atmosphere of a shining example of what a comic book store should be! My hat is off to you, Comic Kings.

I bet you think this place only sells comics. Well guess what, you're wrong! They also sell Trading Card Games, figurines, and card supplies. Let me walk you through my experience at Comic Kings. Upon entering, you are greeted by a life size statue of Spider-Man. Looking further you will notice first; their shelf that contains volumes of comics (which is always on sale for 25% off). At this point you walk to the counter where you are welcomed by a plethora of gently giants. You may have the experience of meeting King Joey himself. So, at this counter, it contains cards for different card games such as; MtG, Pokemon, Yugioh, and DragonBall. The nerd inside me screams internally at the wide variety of collectible cards. I take a moment to step back and notice the walls are covered in vinyl posters which they also have on sale for $15, retail being $35. They have somewhat of a gameroom, which is great for card masters and holds weekly tournaments for all games. That's it guys, this place is heaven, simply home. #NotanAd

They have comics from Bronze and Silver age. I am trying to collect as many Captain America comics as I can from the Bronze and Silver age, so I am weary of trying new comic stores, but this place has them. If you are looking for the older comics, you can definitely come here to get them.

The place is fine, but there's one bad apple among the staff. The guy who works there Thursday nights during the Yugioh tournaments could really use an attitude adjustment. I understand the first time when you have to come from behind the counter to announce that the store is closed for the night. Five minutes later this guy yells across the shop from behind the counter to the stragglers "C'mon guys, let's go. It's 8:00 and I've got somewhere to be." Nobody else at that shop, or any shop I've been to, is that rude to his/her customers.

I have been collecting comics for a while now, and Comic Kings have a great selection if comics on the wall. I have had great interactions with the staff who is very helpfull and knowledgeable about comics and card games. Comic kings host a variaty of tournaments i beleive for game card enthusiasts. There is an eletric vibevwhen these games are going on. Cant wait to see Comic Kings at the Tidewater Comic Con this year and see what they will have at their booth.

This is usually a pretty quiet place during the weekdays and usually pretty crowded on weekends. They sell snacks and drinks and you can order pizza and have delivered to the place too. There is no free WiFi though. They have wifi but you need to ask for the password or if you have a Cox id, you can log into the Cox wifi that is in the area. Overall, this is a nice place to hang out with fellow geeks alike.

Honestly I am not into stores like this so take my opinion with a grain of salt. However this store is very impressive with their selection, and the staff is always willing to help and answer any questions that you may have about their products.
