This is such a great comic shop. I had stopped buying comics a couple of years ago and I wanted to get back into it. I talked with Steve the first time I came in and he recommended some new stuff for me to try out and helped me set up a pull list so that I wouldn't miss anything. They have a great young adult section and a LGBTQ section. There's even a game section and a manga section. I love that I can pick up my comics and buy a hard seltzer and sit at the bar. I've had really great conversations with the staff and some customers about comics and gaming. This is such a welcoming place. I've seen the staff help people who are just getting into comics and gaming. Seriously, check them out!

As an independent traveler in STL, Apotheosis welcomed me in with open arms. I was greeted by the wonderful Rosie, who is one of the kindest humans I could have met on my trip. Rosie and Juan (both previous employees at the comic shop) took a complete stranger under their wing and played games with me. I did, however, meet Martin (owner/manager) who did not respect the pronouns of his employees and fired Juan after making outrageous accusations. While I was in the shop Martin spent most of his time hovering over his employees and talking to people outside of the shop. This review gets 3 stars due to Rosie and Juan who made my trip to STL worth it. Management really needs to rethink how they treat people or they will start to lose business.

The two staff working were so nice and happy to give me a tour of the merchandise as well as a detailed recommendation of which drink to get. I was surprised at how affordable my canned cocktail was ($6). I’d definitely come back next time I’m in town!

I went when they said they would be open until 8 after school on 11/11 with my son but they decided to close at 4PM with a hand written sign. Really annoying because he was really looking forward to looking through the comics here. I guess I’ll go to GameStop instead - I wish I could support local but at least their times are reliable. Willing to update to a better review if things improve.

Apotheosis Comics is an adult toy store of the best kind!!! Martin and team have put together something really special and it's like a breath of fresh air. Comics, Drinks, Fun, Gadgets...What could be better? Oh yeah, the fact that its in St. Louis and that the team here built something so special. Well done, I highly recommend!

I came in on a whim while walking to my destination, and was immediately charmed by the store. I thought I could find something special for my partner to gift him for Christmas as a gift from our son. The gentleman working (wish I caught his name!) helped me find the most perfect book based on what I told him about my partner’s interests. Super kind folks, very helpful and just overall a great experience! Definitely recommend!

Staff is great. Not a huge connoisseur of comics but the stock looked pretty good. The drink choices are limited but interesting and tasty. There are three game rooms upstairs that are totally underutilized, so set up a weekend game - I think you just need to have a drink every couple hours to cover your seat. They have some good board games, but you can bring your own, and it's OK to order in a pizza. There are plugs and USB ports to charge. Perfect for a regular session of d&d or whatever else you enjoy.

Great comic book store with merch available as well. They have tables in back to sit with friends and a multitude of non/alcoholic drinks and snacks to choose from. They also run public and private D&D games upstairs. I'm excited for them that they have a second location and look forward to both expanding!

Such a lovely experience! Had a date night out with the hubby and it just so happened to be open a little later. We were greeted by friendly faces that were all wearing masks! And yep even without seeing their mouths; their eyes, tone, and body language welcomed us right in. We had a great time joking and taking about our favorite characters. All of our questions were answered and that included a beer breakdown for my husband. We got a Storm figurine that I am in love with and a few other pieces, included some work by a local artist. I guess next time, we'll bring the kids and let them join in the fun.

Helpful staff, locally owned, community-minded. It's nice to have a neighborhood place to get D&D books, and I even got my first comic books here. I love the events they put on (pre-pandemic) and I'm looking forward to trying out the upstairs rooms when we're all safe again. Great resource for south city!

Every time I go into this shop its a good experience. I am a law student so I don't often get to talk to others about comics but whenever I go to Apotheosis everyone is friendly and willing to talk. They have a great selection of indie books as well as the standard marvel and dc stuff. Highly recommend if you want a place to chill and talk with people who are passionate about comics. I see a couple people complaining about the mask and vaccine requirement. I understand that people have concerns about this but in all honesty, Apotheosis is concerned about the community and wants to keep customers experience safe and healthy.

This place is adorable, and the staff are absolutely wonderful! We stopped in for some karaoke, and I really appreciated the fact that everyone there had to show a vax card (AND everyone there was so supportive and friendly and the whole place provided back-up singing)! I love stopping in to see what they have going on next!

Wow! I am and have been a comic geek / nerd for many, many years and one of my favorite things to do is seek out comic book stores when visiting a new town. I was amazed when I walked into Apotheosis! Martin and his team are friendlier and more knowledgeable than ANY OTHERS I have found ,in any other comic store I have visited in the United States …. and that is about 50 stores in about 25 states! Oh the store is not huge, it actually is rather small, but they have a nice selection of new comic books and compilations and a limited selection of back issues. However a nice feature is you can sit and enjoy an adult beverage while pursuing books. Martin also did mention he is opening a gaming area upstairs in the near future! The nicest part of the visit was very personable nature of the entire staff as I left the store after about an hour feeling as if I had made three new friends!

This place is awesome. Where else on a STL neighborhood street can you get beer with your comics? The sellers are knowledgeable but unpretentious. They help you find what you need regardless wether you’re an expert or not. The owner helps fight for a better world through many many many kind acts. We are lucky this store can still operate in this climate. Hey you like Spider-Man right? Just wear a mask like him!

I mean I was some random stranger and they went through all that for me. Really neat store, the staff is friendly and accommodating. I wish their back issue boxes were slightly more well sorted but I understand how difficult it is to keep all of that in order after customers dig through, take something out only to put it back lazily in the front or back. That they will special order for you for a discount and set you up with a pull subscription is really good. Graphic novel selection is good as well, with popular books and new, more unheard of books.

Decent local comic shop that has jumped between three different owners and locations (and names) in the last few years. Comic selection is average; you'll find most current titles from the major publishers, but not many indie or obscure things, except for a selection spotlighting local artists and publishers, which is appreciated. And there're some interesting back issue bins, with issues ranging from a few months to decades old. This store is ambitous, hosting special events, game nights and a bottled beer bar. But it's still figuring itself out, and basic service can be spotty; I have a small pull-list there that for the first six months they never got right. I support them because I believe local comic shops are important, but as someone who reads mainly indipendent and creator-published titles, it can't serve as my primary source.mi
