This is a great used bookstore that is full of character and an amazing selection of books. You could spend a lot of time in here because there's a lot to look at. They have a bookstore cat and are very helpful in giving suggestions or helping find books. The prices are great and there are some great finds if you take the time to look.

Lovely selection of books (children&YA/plays/sci-fi/mystery etc.) and kitties! We had a lovely time browsing the nooks and crannies of this sweet, homey bookshop and purchasing a book. Make sure to not leave your coat unattended for it might be occupied by a cat and you may never get it back.

We parked near this bookstore and decided to go in on our way back to our car. We were so glad we did! This book store has so many different books - a variety of genres and options. There were also a lot of cat residents! So cute. The owner was really helpful and knowledgeable. My boyfriend managed to find a sci-fi book he’d been looking for. This store is quirky and definitely worth a visit!

this place is so good!! everything is super affordable, and there is an incredibly expansive selection. also, the cats are super friendly and happy to be pet. the whole place is super well maintained and has a wonderful homey feel to it. i wish i lived in seattle so that i could come here all the time! organization is good, but aisles are small (but floor to ceiling!)

Cats in an old bookstore! The bookstore is quite large and has a great selection. But also, like... There are cats! They're all very friendly and seem to be accustomed to random strangers petting them. Should probably check with the owners before picking them up, though. Watch your step!

Good vibes. 6 adorable cats. There’s a 50¢ / $1 section. The rest are not the cheapest but affordable and you can support a local bookstore, most things are around $8-12 range.

Lovely place, with a good selection. The cats are super sweet and great to have around too. Very cozy. Walkways are a bit tight so they can pack so many books in; if you're larger or use a wheelchair you may have trouble with some of the areas. Haven't had great luck here when coming looking for particular books (as is typical with used bookstores), but I usually find something else interesting!

I thought this store had an amazing collection of science fiction and fantasy paperbacks. They had complete and nearly complete sets of several childhood favorites that I've been looking for for years. It was an amazing find. That said, be EXTREMELY careful if you set down your coat. The resident kitties will promptly requisition them and you'll be stuck for a few hours as they nap away happily... Definitely coming back my next Seattle visit!!

A wonderful bookstore (as in, a literal cave of wonders, hallways full of books meandering all over the place, "it's bigger on the inside") with huge selection of titles from all across the spectrum, and super friendly, spontaneous and knowledgeable staff. If you're lucky (and you will be), you'll stumble upon one of their charming cats. I wish I had a place like this in my city!

They have so many books in variety of subject areas. Will take time to look through their packed shelves. Staff seems friendly and there are cats that live there (in case you have allergies). Definitely need more time available for browsing when I go back! Close to Capitol Hill train Station.

I give this bookstore five stars because it is deceptively huge, super cute, and local. It's kind of a book and cat lover fever dream with punk rock playing in the background. It will take you some time to find what you're looking for but if you're in a rush why are you at a bookstore?

Looking for a used book for a gift or just a grab and bone up on any topic from Adventure to Sci-Fi? This store is wonderful and good prices as well. Even if you cant find what you are looking for there's alot of other topics to explore. The owner is very kind and helpful staff to assist if you get lost . There s a labyrinth of treasures to be found and some hard to find collectables. I love to show this place to friends who visit from another state or country! Just so you know they have shop cats so if you have allergies this is your heads up.

If you're looking to buy used books though, this place is very well organized with a large selection ranging across just about every genre. Really happy that I stopped by. I'm way out of town her and always try to go to thrift stores and used book stores. I feel like they need some serious support that all communities should be aware of. I mean books are dying and it's so sad books are the greatest source of knowledge and it won't delete on you or anything like that. A nice used store, great selection. Love the cats, soft and friendly. The store is slightly messy, but still workable. The slight cat smell (to be expected with 6 cats on premises) resulted in allergies, so I kept my visit short. Also, the one male employee had an attitude issue. I literally thanked him for keeping the store so well stocked, and he ignored me. I was about to repeat myself when the female employee assured me, "He heard you." Why ignore a nice comment? I didn't even need anything; a perfunctory nod would have been just fine. He wasn't even busy😅 It made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome.

I love this place so much and I'm so happy they've survived through the years and the pandemic. If you're ever looking for a book or just want to browse for something new to read, always go here first!!! The cats make it feel even more cozy and homey than it already does. Watch where you step! One might be snoozing right around the corner or hunting a bug or shoelace. All of the employees have always been really nice. Book prices are great as well. SUPPORT THESE GUYS!

This was the cutest bookstore I have ever been to. There were cats laying on books. Books piled around. I didn't think it was bad at all. In fact it looked like a library to me. Cozy, quiet, and pleasant staff. The cats were fun to look at and pet as well! I didn't buy anything that day, I had never been inside and was checking it out. I recommend it. They had so many different topics. If you are LGBTQ+ they have a section taller than I was. They had lots of fiction and nonfiction...so many. Go take a peek and pet a cat!

Friendly place with many books (most for half the cover price, look on the inside in the front for the pencilled price) and many cats! It didn't smell bad at all, and the cats were so cute and so friendly. They were mostly sleepy, but a couple of them were up and around playing and asking for attention. They don't mind if you pet them while they nap. Kawaii as hell, would come again!

If you need a book, look here first. Twice Sold is an institution on the hill and has been around for ages. It's a reminder of the old seattle: quirky and smart and ok, a little covered in cat hair, but so what? You'll leave with at least two books you didn't know you needed. Bonus: as of Jan 2021 there are kittens!

This is an amazing local used book store! The lady at the front was extremely kind and very helpful. She quickly showed me to the Spanish textbooks, and although she didn’t carry the horror manga I was interested in, she gave me detailed instructions on where I could find them online or from other bookstores. She was full of great book recommendations and fun facts about the authors and books too! An absolute wealth of knowledge. The live in store kitties are the cherry on top. Be careful when opening the front door so not to let them out!

Classic bookstore feel. Shelves of secondhand paperbacks in the scifi section, a bargain section on the front with actual goods titles and the sweetest cats roaming the store. One cat popped up by a brush like he was expecting something, so we happily gave him a quick brush before.going back to the translated books section.

Fun store with cats! There is a slight odor but very minimal and not over powering. The books are organized a bit haphazardly but there is a decent variety. Prices are higher than I am accustomed to. $5 minimum even for a small paperback. Over all, a nice store with a quirk and a nice spot for tourists.

The owner is so friendly and knowledgeable! The shelves are like a wonderland maze of literature and it's easy to find a little nook to settle with a book and a kitty, if they deem you worthy. The cats are super friendly, though, and good with kids, too. When we finally checked out, arms full of books, we were offered boxes too get them to the car easier and even a few other authors we might enjoy based off of our selections. I love this place!

Adorable shop cats, if you're lucky to see them. Huge selection of books. Winding hallways and rooms, a bit like a maze and I totally got lost. A little unorganized but it's mostly separated by genre then alphabetical by author. Was able to find some good books and you can't beat the price. Loved this little neighborhood gem. I would come back.

This is a great book shop that seems to have an infinite number of books and cute cats hanging out around the shop. If you're a book lover, I highly recommend stopping in and letting yourself get lost in the maze of books. The best part is that everything is reasonably priced. Twice Sold Tales is an independent used book store. They buy and sell books, and overall their prices are very fair. A couple tips: (1) The owner is a little... Well, she's somewhere between eccentric and bipolar. She's very nice in general but if you catch her on a bad day, she's a. It off putting. If you see the myopic woman with streaks of grey, just be friendly and know,if she's not immediately friendly, she may be having an off day. She loves books and will talk your ear off on a good day though. Really, she's very nice. Old school Seattle. (1.5) The rest of the staff is really friendly and helpful at all times. (2) Between two and five cats live here at any time. They're all wonderful and cute and socialized and love to be pet (or do not mind at all if you pet them). Most people who frequent the shop either partly come for the kitty fix or just don't care either way (kind of like cats!). So, the point is, if you don't like cats, or you think cats are gross, don't come here. (3) There is a lot of stock here. Check back often. Many books come and go frequently. Check out the different sections, browse, ask the staff questions. (See 1 and 1.5 above). (4) Be sure to check out happy hour here 6pm-9pm every day. 25% off used paperbacks will save you a bunch! Come for the kitties, leave with an armload of books. This is a lovely and eccentric Capitol Hill staple with four cats of varying degrees of laziness and uniform adorability. They have quite a good fiction selection and a lot of interesting treasures and rarities. The organization is a bit labyrinthine, but the staff is friendly and ready to help.

The books seem to stretch on forever, and you keep finding more and more rooms filled to the brim with books. A book-lovers paradise. She said it wouldn’t be next to Jane Austen, in the snippets way possible. I’m aware. I love to read. The author I asked for isn’t classic literature. Nor is it sci-fi, but that’s where it was.

I love this second-hand bookstore, yes, there are cats roaming the halls. That's part fo the charm, and in the name. They are super sweet and I would highly recommend petting them. I'm terms of book selection, they have fairly large fantasy, fiction, and non fiction sections, their selection depends on the day as certain novels sell out when popular. They aren't suuuper cheap, between 4-7 dollars for a used book, but I'm happy to pay to support this unique business and the lovely kitties. Also if you're ever looking for a certain book, just ask the person at the front counter. They can look it up lickety split.

One of the best used book stores I've ever been to in Seattle. They have books on almost all topics. They even put up signs about what books they currently need people to donate to maintain their inventory. I love the maze-like layout, the smell of old books. And they have cats in there too!

Years ago, I walked into this book store to sell a box filled with books but instead I walked out with books that I have in my keep till this day. While we were at the one in Ballard, the woman who runs this location was filling in, and mentioned that we should stop by, especially after 6pm, when they have a nightly 25% off sale. My wife spent about an hour and a half browsing, and found plenty to buy. If you're a real bibliophile, check out the section behind glass, for first editions and signed copies.
