Reviews of Mox Boarding House
Deva Sharma
Let's start with the good, I enjoyed my Tuna melt. It had a great taste to it and all in all was a solid showing. Not overly toasted, tuna tasted great, and whatever they did to give the melt some flavor was fine by me.
The cost is for me one of the negatives. The melt was a bit on the pricey side (roughly $18). Another negative was overall portions for what the table ordered just felt small. The mac and cheese is just overpriced for how small it is, I feel I need to call that out. The mac and cheese is not a shareable and it wasn't ordered to be one either, it's just way too small even for one person is what I'm saying.
Lots of game options and the servers were nice, no complaints there. My iced tea never got a refill and unfortunately they weren't good about getting water. But hey, that's how it goes sometimes, overall they were people just doing their best.
Overall it's a nice place for some games and I'd give it another go. Just wouldn't go there hungry is all. Check it out if you're in the area!

Wowwwww what an awesome game store! It has a bar attached and you can play card or board games as you eat!! This is perfect for those late night munchies or game nights. Especially perfect for Friday Night Magic and drafting.
I loved looking at the various dice! They even have LGBTQIA+ dice!! They had demi dice!!!! They also have lots of board games, DND stuff, war hammer gear, and kiosks where you can order magic cards and gear.
Parking is across the street in a lot but spots are few and it fills up fast. There’s also a lot of homeless people next to the lot.

This place is so fun we came back 2 days in a row. The games are fairly priced when compared to Amazon or target. And they have a really great selection. It's board games, dice games, card games, kid games etc. Love that you can grab a drink or a coffee or snack and borrow one of their games or bring your own. My son picked out a game that was a little too advanced for him and they were super cool about letting us exchange it. Just a really unique experience.

This is an amazing, welcoming space up try new games or meet up for a tournament. The restaurant has private game rooms for reservation. The staff has always been excellent when I was there.
Ray Budworth
Went in for the first time. Service staff at the Cafe were very friendly, and catered very well. Clearly they know their clientele, and are very careful with liquids and other food products as it mixes with card and board games. Prices are reasonable for the area, and some vegan and vegetarian options are available for food.
As for the card and table top games side of stuff, I think the discount program they have for trying out new games at the table during a meal is extremely cool, and also important. I can't wait to go back here and take advantage of that deal.

Found my new obsession and probably one of my favorite spots in all of Seattle. Such an incredible group of staff members to provide great recommendations on games, food, and drinks. Great spot for hanging with friends.
Newsha Makooi
Fantastic game store, complete with game play areas, and knowledgeable staff. Plenty of games to choose from for all types of interests and budgets. Go check them out!

Mox Boarding House in Ballard is the BEST!! I’ve been here several times. The service is excellent, the board game selection is perfect, and the drinks are delicious. The food is a little overpriced for the quality of what you get but drinks & dessert are both excellent choices here! We were helped by someone named Bell (I’m sorry if I spelled that incorrectly!) and honestly they were amazing! They helped us get a private room, recommended fantastic games abs were just overall a really wonderful resource. I’ve been to multiple Mox locations and Ballard is by far the best! Everyone go to Mox!

Great place. Food was good for a bar, better than average. Ambience is great. Drinks use Mr. Bees! Love it. Many games.
Lorenzo López
The place is amazing, bigger than it seems on the inside, the crew was just as amazing and attentive. I purchased some MTG singles (thanks Prof!) And was blown away that they got everything together in under 20min! I want to bring my California friends here - thats how much I recommend them.

I love Card Kingdom and appreciate their level of care with products. Mox is a great addition to their business. The stores are clean, have a classy look, are stocked with way more than you will ever need, and the employees are wonderful people. They run a ton of events for Magic, Warhammer, D&D, and many of the popular games. Well worth the trip in.
Christine C
Love being able to try out boardgames before buying. They had great suggestions on games when describing the players and vibe we were going for. Xander helped us the other day.
Mushroom was delicious but a little pricey
Luca Star
Great game selection.
Massive card inventory.
Tasty tavern with awesome selections from mead to mac n cheese
$40 card boxes marked up to $60 I made the mistake of not shopping on amazon first. I would NOT suggest buying card boxes at Mox as they are marked up 50% from suggested retail price. Absolutely insane.
Maggie Powell
i’ve been to my fair share of board game stores and this is hands down my favorite visit. mostly-full service bar coupled with friendly game staff and waitstaff, and a wide selection of games and merch in the actual store part. i didn’t get any of the food, but the drinks were very tasty and reasonably priced (relative to seattle at least). i would absolutely go again and recommend it to others!
Jordan Twidell
Great place and great vibe. If you like board games, a must visit. Food pricey like everything else in Seattle, but if you demo a game when buying Food or drink and buy the game they'll give you 15% off.
Amelia Davis
Love this place! Great system for trying out new and popular tabletop games. There's an area for eating and playing games, and an area for painting minis, trading cards, and purchasing merch. Great mead and beer! Love all the D&D stuff. Looking forward to coming back!
John Mathison
Board games and beer are a great combination, hard to go wrong. You can borrow games from the shop to play while drinking and eating. one of my favorite places in Seattle to meet up with friends.
Olivia Jenkins
Wow! i’ve been to a decent amount of game bars and cafés and this one really impressed me. They have a super extensive game selection with an impressive organization system.
Are the place is really large. There is a main room that branches out into several different areas. There is a bar and restaurant, a couple different game room areas and game genre specific rooms. Genre rooms like story games and family games.
I’m every room but the main store area there are tables where you can play games. They have an extensive playable library with at least 100 games of all weights.
I attended their free weekly Sunday board game night for the first time last week. When I arrived there were a couple of different groups playing games. I’m new to the area so I came alone and immediately felt welcomed. A staff member came right up to me and asked me if I wanted to play a game, saying we could play a two player if I wanted to pick one from the library. Luckily I grabbed a four player because by the time I got back there were two other people who also had just walked in and wanted to play. ALSO you receive 15% off any board game you play at the store on game night, so needless to say my kallax will be looking sharp

If your into a hobby, this is the place. MTG, 40k, AOS, RPGs, board games they just have it all. It's all organized and easy to get to. The staff is super helpful. It's also spread out. A lot of shops are small and congested. Great place.
Ethan Powell
Haven't tried the food here but a good place to play games, especially magic. Friendly staff. Only complaint is that merch/sleeves and things like that are little more expensive than I've seen at other local game stores.
SeattleSteve
This is such a great store and a fine example of "friendly local game store FLGS" that deserves your business and some hobby dollars. Great selection, helpful staff. I keep coming back.
Eric Pemberton
Excellent spot to hang out and play board games! Great game and beer selection.
Grilled Cheese and Mac & Cheese were both good.
9/10
Katie Harnish
We always leave so happy, the staff is lovely and the food selection caters to us all! We get introduced to new games every time we go but always stay for another round, to play some classics too.
J Darling
My partner was in a tournament here and it was cool to check out the shop and the bar side venue while I waited for his game to end. Parking was tough though, be willing to park a-ways and walk a short distance.
Marcus Wong
An amazing place to buy and play games. Huge selection of games, from family games, to roleplaying, co-operative, trading cards and miniatures. Well organized in different sections of the store.
Staff are knowledgeable about most of the games and super friendly. There's also a cafe next door where you can borrow and play games, as well get something to eat and drink.
Only challenging thing is the street parking, which can sometimes take awhile to find.
Joe Turner
Good selection of board games, and good food. Perfect for a large group event.
Riley DeCurtis
really cool board game store with an attached restaurant/bar. the staff are lovely and helpful!
Nick Sullivan
Great bar and store. Food is surprisingly good and you can play any game they have behind the counter for free. Store is stocked with almost every board game you can imagine. They also host several events throughout the week. Definitely recommend!
Logan Shelagowski
I’ll be honest, I’m not huge into games, but tagged along with some friends and had a great time. I did not have any drinks or cocktails but Mox seems to have a solid offering of both and food. We hung out in a non-pressing setting playing a few games. What a great idea Mox is. Cheers!
Pragya Agarwal
I went here with my friends on one of the Sunday evenings. The place was pretty full but we were able to grab a table for four. The staff was pretty helpful and fun in helping us select a new game altogether that none of us had ever played before.
As a group we really enjoyed the game.
Food wise, there weren't a lot of vegetarian options so we ended up ordering coffees and a mushroom appetizer. The coffee could be hotter and better for my liking. Overall, food wise, the place seemed a little expensive for the portion and quality of food and drinks. However, it was a super fun evening to spend with friends.
Willis Harvey
This place is awesome. Surprisingly good food and drinks, such a huge place with lots of tables and a ton of games. I've been to a few board game/cafe style things in the US and this place blew me away. 15% off on games you borrow to play there is a nice perk too. My friends and I had a great time, thanks!!
Jordan Gamache
Great food, great atmosphere, and great selection! Went to buy dice for a D&D game, and ended up staying for dinner!
Kayleanetta Dimitri
Such helpful staff and plenty of choices for your gaming needs. Very helpful customer service when I had questions.
El Wong
Anyone who’s into tabletop games will love this place. They have a great selection of classic and new board games, card games, and role-playing guides and gear to buy. The staff are pretty friendly, they have a couple of extra rooms for events, and the food and drinks in the cafe itself (at least the ones I tried) were decently priced and tasted great. While in the cafe you can also borrow two games at a time to play for free while you’re hanging with friends. They also have free parking, which will be on your right a little past the cafe if the restaurant/store is on your left.
Matthew Montgomery
Great game selection, and the shop was clean and friendly. The shop had a great variety of games, including many just-released titles, and there were both clearance and used titles available. New games retailed at their MSRP, which doesn't bother me at all, but I know that's a sticking point for some. The organization of games was by theme or mechanic, which was an interesting take on things. I think I liked that.
Mary Beale
This place is so fun. Lots of seating and spread out. You can get food and drinks and rent a board game to play with friends. And GET THIS… you don’t have to pay to rent the board games! How kind and cool to get the opportunity to try out new games (so make sure to take good care of the board games). Staff are friendly and helpful!
Sarah Bollard
Great place to browse board games. Have lots of vegan options on their menu which I really appreciate. Staff is super knowledgeable and great at making sure you find a board game you’ll love.
Travis Henry
Great store. Great products and prices. Customer service is top notch... And now I hear the employees are event unionizing?!? Any company that offers their employees the option to collectively bargain is a company that I want to deal with. I'll never buy my MTG cards anywhere else.
In fact... I may place another order tonight!!
Phill
Crowded, with shelves and tables pushed so close together that navigating the store is difficult. I can't imagine how challenging it would be if I needed a mobility aid like a wheelchair or crutches.
Staff and patrons were largely not wearing masks, despite local covid levels being the second highest they've ever been. And given how tightly everything is packed in the store, social distancing is all but impossible.
Update: Came on a less crowded day, still almost no masks, still difficult to navigate. Staff is kind.
Addi Hayden
was absolutely amazing. had the green curry chicken as well as a dirtier vodka martini that will put Susan Sarandon walking nude on the beach look like Sunday church.
also, had a cute cat girl server who made sure I was well hydrated 🐱
Karin Wood
I work down the block and had never been in- on a whim I popped in just to browse and I was delightfully impressed by the variety and diversity of selection. I am not any type of avid game player but I found it enchanting and vowed to bring back my work team for an after work game night!
Rayne Roberts
In addition to great food, a clean store, and tons of great products for sale, the staff was friendly, helpful, and willing to help out when I bought the wrong product and needed to leave asap. Shout out to Cooper behind the front desk for helping me out!
Corseted Angel
Mox, is both an ok game store and a decent restaurant. I have been to both locations, Bellevue and Ballard, and I must say that I prefer the Bellevue location. Both have horrible parking but at least in Bellevue you don't feel like you need an armed guard just to get into the place.
I fully realize that the streets lined with homeless encampments is in no way the fault of the management of Mox and it would be awesome if Seattle could do something more useful and effective than shuffling the camps around every few months; but notices on the all-too-rare parking spots that the area has a problem with car prowling does not instill a sense of security. So if you're a woman, have small children or don't want to be yelled at by tweakers or harrassed by panhandlers (both things happened to us when we went there) skip the Ballard location.
Anthony DeLeon
Didn't have what I was looking for, but they gave me helpful suggestions on where to find the games I wanted. Very fun spot to go with friends to play games and get drinks.
Marci Firth-Gouveia
Love this place, eat, drink and be merry. So much fun to play games and get recommendations from the knowledgeable staff.
David Guanyabens
It's a board game shop 5 stars, with some food and drinks 3 stars and helpful people, big tables and nice atmosphere.
Yugina Yun
Had such a fantastic first visit to MOX!
The staff was very friendly and the food was surprisingly really good! Loved the beer list as well. (Expect a wait for a table with food)
We were able to play our favorite party game with food (Hellapagos) and the staff recommended the cutest game about biosphere that was not yet released.
Will happily stop by again my next time In Seattle!
Pratik Shah
Good food and great games! Wonderful place for those that love board games. They have lots of games there that you can try for free. I've spent a lot of time there playing board games with friends. Be careful about weekends when they have gaming tournaments. It'll be jam packed then, so better to avoid going at that time unless you wanna be in the tournament.
Finu Lukose
Fun events! Was there for Star Wars trivia and it was a blast! The cocktails are delicious. If they have the mead cocktail list, the espresso martini is a bit sweet but great. The appetizer menu leaves a bit to be desired. It's a board game bar, not a gourmet restaurant. So the only reason why I didn't give a 5 star review was because I ordered the brussel sprouts and stuffed mushrooms and both were... just okay. Portions were small for the price (5 mushrooms for $13). I would probably not eat there again but would definitely come back for games, trivia, and drinks. Pretty good beer list too!
Gary Samson
The selection of games at Mox was terrific and included a center for building and painting miniatures. We went for the restaurant and borrowed a fun dinosaur game to play while we ate.
The cocktails were good and the food delicious. The service was friendly and prompt to keep us well hydrated.
Chris Wilson
I've been ordering from Card Kingdom for years now. They are fantastic! They are the best place to order Magic the Gathering cards on the internet as in my opinion. Whenever I receive my order, they always come in acrylic cases with packing peanuts inserted to keep the cards safe and secure. I love it, because I can always use more storage for my cards and these acrylic cases are excellent. Can't say enough about Card Kingdom, try them out, you'll be a fan too!
Frank Eastman
Store is attractively laid out and carries a large selection of board games and a strong selection of other tabletop hobby paraphernalia.
Nice that there's a bar and restaurant, and that you can check out games from the library to play at your table. The menu reminds you there are Google buildings two miles away.
Jennifer Nickerson
Amazing Monday night birthday celebration had here! The lending library looks a little weak when compared to the whole store, but only because the store is so huge & impressive! The staff is so helpful with recommendations & rule/game-play explanations. Nobody felt dumb, everyone had a blast!! Even the non-gamers in our group want to go back again.
It was great to be able to play different games while we ate, but it was loud in the Cafe, so a little difficult to learn new games. The menu is broader than expected. FYI: Beer/wine only, not a full bar, but again, nice options! Water is filtered & glasses filled often!! Wait service was very attentive, but all of our food (apps & entrees) came at once. The food was honestly just okay, pretty bland & overcooked. They also shut down the espresso machine 2-3 hours before closing so no coffee or hot cocoa with dessert. Seriously?!?
Still 5 stars, but I'll eat somewhere else first & come here just for gaming.
Jordan Murphy
One of the most fun and unique places to kick back relax and play games!
This is a retail gaming store combined with an area to be able to check out games and play them there, as well as a bar and restaurant area all in one big package! Huge selection and even more astonishing is how amazing everyone is describing each and every game… The staff definitely knows their stuff!
Never had a bad experience here and I recommend it to everyone!
E Griffin
This is a really fun place to grab a drink, some food, and play games. The tables are large and can fit different boardgames. The shop has a varied stock of games for different interests and there's a ton of space.
Tushar Jain
Amazing place to play board games. Wish they had more veg options to eat.
Michael Tamashiro
Mox is good fun. They have lots of board games and other games you can check out and play for free while eating and drinking. You get 15% off of a game you check out if you buy it in the store, kinda cool. Food and drinking are higher in price, but this is understandable as most people are spending lots of time playing a long board game.
Laurel Sargent
A few great menu items seems to have been rotated out, but they always have great food choices no matter what. Laid back, understanding, helpful people... whether you're looking for a particular type of game to fit your party, or a particular brew to fit your taste. I've had nothing but awesome experiences here.
Lindsey Nunez
The food is simple but delicious with a cozy bar vibe attached to the game house. They had a big array of board games to choose from and you can play most of them first before purchasing. Any games you play in the store you get 15% off.
shixson86
I was super excited to finally make it to this location. The store is beautiful and has an immense selection. The personnel however left much to be desired. Ended up just canceling my order and calling it a day.
Nikolas Hoback
The best of all gaming worlds. It's a game store. It's a bar. They have rooms you can reserve for your game nights, as well as a wall of free games to play in store. Plus with a tasty restaurant and taps where you can eat and imbibe while you try out new and beloved games. The restaurant has a surprisingly fancy menu, but that comes with a price. There are still some $10 options for the gamers on a budget. Especially if you're tempted to take something home. While they may not carry *every* product, they cater to a lot and it's great to see a game store like this thrive.
Sami Perälahti
Amazing big tables. A cafeteria with food! On a whole other level. Prolly the best game store Iwe visited.
James Trac
Amazing place to go! New to MTG and came there last time we visited Seattle. So we decided we HAD to go back. Visited on the 20st and was warmly welcomed. The staff was great helped me build 3 EDH decks and they were our first ones as well!! (Mtg decks) gave us insight and helped with must have cards and ultimately felt to pressure buying the cards either. I felt bad because I put in an order for a little over 300+ cards at 9:20 and they stop taking orders at 10. Was an overall amazing experience however, after gifting one of the decks to my friend for his birthday on the 21st he got his car broken into and his budget Atraxa deck stolen along with his other belongings (on his birthday!!) which is just sad and absolutely annoying be he thinks it’s a sign he shouldn’t play magic anymore. Lame. Overall, everything went well and the staff was great!! Love this place. Hoping I can bring my newbie friends next time if they’re not too discouraged.
Emi
Awesome place that let's you try out boardgames before you buy it! They have every boardgame you could ever want. They host tournaments and also have a bar area where you can drink and play games.
Gina R-B
THE place for board games in Seattle. They have a huge library of games to play, great drinks, and good food (their potato salad is bomb).
Nina Helene
Huge selection, knowledgeable and friendly staff who are always willing to provide recommendations! Attached is a decent restaurant, few food options but regardless, Love the combo of dining/drinking and being able to trial a game! No hard alcohol, beer and wine only. Please bring back the Mediterranean nachos! we miss them so!
Tiffany Han
I was visiting from out of state, and I’m surprised! A very large library of games to buy. Ample space. Tables to eat and drink. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Demo tables. A must visit for table top gamers.
Keith S.
Hard to know how to rate the place. The retail side is great with very knowledgeable and friendly people.
The restaurant is mediocre, expensive, small portions, poor service. Quite egregiously, a person in my party is vegetation, asked for meat to be substituted with mushrooms, but they brought it out as just meat... I would've been seriously reprimanded for such an error when I worked in this industry. A restaurant that thinks themselves as being highly culinarily innovative, but can't get the most basic things down... I love innovative places, but I'd rather an uncreative place that gets the most barebones parts of being a restaurant down first
Jon Esteb
This is by far my all time favorite gaming place in Seattle by far. It had a very diverse selection of products ranging from card games, to table top supplies to a cool Warhammer 40k area and board games. There was a section I noticed where you got to meet up with someone who helped make a game to discuss and a large variety of gaming tables. They have games for rent and are adjoined by their own restaurant which I did not have a chance to partake in this bout. But I am excited to go back and take a look.
Jacob B
Aside from the fact that the service, food, and drinks are great it's attached to a tabletop game store with games to try for free. I love this place and am so glad they have expanded with other locations. Come check it out, 100% worth it!
Emeline Houser
The general manager was really helpful and attentive tonight. Even though we were a large group, the venue was very friendly and patient. The food is amazing and the ambiance is also nice. But the staff made this night, very special!
Soq. Schafer
Really kind staff. It's like a library with easy going people of all ages. If you like the game you're playing the can find a fresh copy. Beer and higher end bar did is tasty too. Would recommend to all from the most serious of gamer to the total novice. Don't miss out. Open until midnight daily! Great evening visit.
Phillip Byrd
What a great shop. I go almost every week for commander night, and have attended multiple pre-releases. The staff here are super friendly and make for a great visit every time. I'm lucky. I live so close to such a great shop
Crono Trigger
Lots of board games and lots of space for whatever game you want to play. Friendly staff
Deeanna Donley
Great shop for gamers of all kinds! Allows game rentals to try out fun new board games, with a fantastic restaurant/bar. By far, the best coffee I've ever had with the best kind of people a nerd should get to know.
Matt Perrone
Mox is a board game place with a restaurant inside. They have good food at decent prices, lots of drink options, and you can rent board games for free to try out and spend your time. The store itself is pretty big with all sorts of games to buy. Their staff is super knowledgeable and always helpful on recommendations which is amazing. Would highly recommend coming here with friends to hang or even a date night.
Mike Warren
Everything you could ever want in a game store : private rooms, tournaments, all types of board games, and even a pub on site!
Rob Nardelli
My group rented a room to play DnD, and while it was fun, the floor was dirty and the TV had issues with its HDMI connection. Food is definitely overpriced, the most egregious example being their charcuterie plate. They had good Italian soda, though.
Jennie Warren
We had a wonderful birthday party here. Great food, yummy Italian sodas and a wall of card games to play. So many choices!
Alex Croswell
Great food and drinks, friendly staff, and a very LGBTQ+ friendly environment. There are lots of fun games and events!
Borf Buppo (Borf_Buppo)
Very cool tabletop game store. Not enough dice for a goblin like me but I still found two sets that are decent. They have the basics for everything you could ask for as far as any tabletop games go.
Nathan Dickey
Great food and drink selection, and they have a truly incredible selection of free-to-borrow board games for restaurant guests!
Swati Bhat
Best place to try out new board games
Tiffany-Ashton Gatsby
This is nerding at its finest. Great draft rootbeer. Nachos were an awesome value and pretty tasty. Enough to share with a few people. Coffee good, too. Pretty affordable afternoon, overall.
Paola Vallejo (Pao)
Proof of vaccination required to dine or play inside. They have tons on board games to play or you can ask them for a board game to play there or to dine and play.
They have rooms for role playing and card playing. They also have tournaments.
🍽 The food is good they have interesting optiona.
🍷 they also have drink options
👤 The service is as expected.
🛎 Wait time - they wait time is pretty high, since you can play a board game in your table. But you appreciate it when you are the one playing
🚻 they have bathrooms on site
🅿️ parking on street
Alena Markins
We browsed games and got some food. Our experience was SO good that I had to write this review.
Our food was excellent. The brisket was done to perfection and the cauliflower mash was excellent. Our server Asher was extremely knowledgeable about the alcohol selection and helped us pair beverages with our meals. I really felt like he went above and beyond especially near the end of a Saturday night when he had to be tired. I will absolutely be coming back here many many times.
Karissa
Great food, great games and great atmosphere. Went here with some friends and the server to surprised us with a game of his choice. Ended up loving it, even though there was some sabotage involved! Awesome time.
B T
Great place, but never do in-store pick up! I have been waiting almost an hour and the pick up order is still not ready. Very frustrating since they promise the pick up within the hour. The homeless problem is very un-inviting; just ship the order from here forward.
Jay Griffin
great place to hang out and checking out board game and to find some magic cards.
Use This
Great store loved it. Came for the first time for the veterans day mtg care packages. The store was amazing with the board games and custom dice sets. The water was fantastic. Cant wait to come here again
Brennan Ayers
Amazing staff who will help you with any possible type of product. If the person you’re speaking to doesn’t know, there’s guaranteed to be someone who does on clock.
Paint, minis, board games, decent food, mead menu & card games. Come here asap!
Eric Paulsen
Great place to buy and play games, and grab a beer or some food while you are at it. They have an incredibly engaged sales staff that are very knowledgeable about different games. Love love all three Mox Boarding Houses!
Side note: it would be insanely cool if it actually was a boarding house; rent a room, b play games, have some beer, stay the night, kind of turn it into a destination location. Just a thought.
Ryan Moulton
Lived up to my every expectation. If you get a chance to visit Seattle don’t forget to stop by for games drinks and food.

Out of all the game stores I've visited, this is my all-time favorite. The atmosphere, décor, products, and staff are all top-notch; of particular note are the Warhammer products, which are lower priced than buying them from GW directly.
The store offers on-site MTG selling services from 11AM to 7PM, allowing you to meet in-person with a CardKingdom buyer; all the buyers have been friendly, timely, and well-informed, plus the store-credit ratio for selling is very generous compared to other stores I've sold at.
Events for MTG, DnD, Warhammer, and other tabletop games are hosted here, with the capacity to arrange and host your own event in one of the private rooms that you can reserve space in. So far, I've only experienced their MTG events, but I've found them to be well-coordinated and well-moderated, with the organizers and regulars alike creating a very welcoming atmosphere.
Lastly, there is a bar and restaurant serving a variety of specialty food and drinks; the root beer is a must-try. Oh, and they check vaccination status for both visitors and event attendees; all around, a safe, fun place for tabletop games and hobbies alike.

Great board game collection. Spacious seating arrangements with a cozy atmosphere. Kind and professional staff. But the food is overpriced for the quality of food which, is not great.
B Sward
super knowledgeable staff sans pretentious attitude. I actually really appreciate the cafe here too, great space to relax and use their wifi to work remotely. The tuna sandwich is really solid.
Dont Care
This is a great place to stop for anyone looking to have fun. They have games food and drink. I stop here for trivia night and was not disappointed. It is a welcoming environment for anyone.

Mox is the best tabletop game store in the city. They have an excellent selection of board games, collectable/trading card games, and rpg accessories. While that's a lot, it is also a great place for beginners or even family members who have no experience with board games beyond Monopoly or Scrabble. They will let you play (for free) a huge selection of games either at one of their numerous tables or in the attached restaurant, which itself has a consistently excellent beer menu. Employees are frequently available to help you get started with a game or give tips to new players. It is also strives to be a welcoming and inclusive place for all identities and levels of interest.
Note: a lot of these in-store selling points are off the table during these times, but they are still am excellent retail location. I will remove this not to just be a glowing review once the world is normal again.
Michelle Ling
A very fun restaurant/store! You get to sit down and borrow boardgames to try out before purchasing. If you don't know what game to play, the staff in the store will make recommendations. If you dine in the restaurant, play a game, and want to purchase the game you played, you can get a 10% discount on the game.
Amanda Winters
I feel terrible about not posting this review earlier, but my husband and I had our wedding reception here in 2017 and they were SO LOVELY. We rented the gorgeous room in the back. They made a custom and incredibly delicious menu for us. If you're a nerd, I highly recommend having your reception here. They made a beautiful space for us to have memories of a lifetime in.
Jon Pio
Favorite game store, always helpful staff and great selection of board games, card games, miniatures, and puzzles. Also, they are organized well!
Can't wait for normalcy again and a return to games in the cafe
Robert Brace
Awesome game store. Great selection of games, many events, and a check out system to try games (in-store) before you buy. Staff are always helpful. People actually playing, in store, which creates a nice vibe. Attached restaurant and bar make it a great place to take in a game or two with some friends while having dinner and/or a beverage or two. Also have a couple of rooms that can be reserved for private events.
Ryan Lofstrom
Mox is great. Attentive, knowledgeable staff, excellent stock, great programs and scheduled activities. Just a great place to buy and play board games and card games of any variety. The cafe is great too.
Karena Lindstrom
This place offers a wide selection of board games. I really appreciate how they organize everything so you can browse around by the type of game you enjoy. The staff is also so helpful in selecting items! You can check out games to try from the counter. The prices are really reasonable considering that this is a small business which must compete with the ease of ordering from Amazon.
Marc Giedeman
Always an amazing time at Mox. Excellent board/minature/card game selection with a knowledgeable and friendly staff. Everything is well organized and categorized. There is something for everyone.
Adam G
Food and boardgames. What else do you need!
Joel D
This is an exemplary establishment. Unique mix of games, hobbies, and food! The whole place is warm and inviting. The expertly crafted menu was filled with tons of locally-brewed specialties, vegetarian options, and unique dishes. This is one of those places you'd wished you had more than one stomach. Plus, the staff encourages patrons to try out board games from a vast selection during your meal. I came here to sell MTG cards, driving all the way from Manitoba, but I stayed for a hearty meal and good company.
Hilary Bowker
This place is the best. Great food, drinks and board games for rent (and purchase!). The people are friendly and there is a nice heated outdoor space, which made us feel safe during these COVID times. It's also super vegan friendly! On our most recent viair we had an incredible vegan cheese plate and earl grey creme brule! I mean....what?! Cheese plate not shown, as we devoured it immediately.
Julie Worthington
Great service, and a large variety of games. You can borrow any to play while you're there. The restaurant had a good selection of great food and drinks. They also host tournament nights :-)
mike peters
Ate at the restaurant. Tuna melt was outta this world. Best I've ever had. Easily.
Also cool atmosphere. Fun, steampunk kinda vibe. Friendly staff. And what's not to love about it also being a full fledged game shop. Being from the south, it reminded me of cracker barrel but wayyyy better food and wayyyy cooler store.
Randolph Mckinnon
One of my favorite boardgame shops in Seattle. Haven't eaten there in a while but food is good and a small menu.
Angela V
Best game house around. Selection is awesome. The people are so amazing. My favorite place to try out new games.
Roshmore7
I visited Mox’s recently and one of my friend ordered a latte which got a bit delayed. But she kind of forgot about it when we left the place, but to our utter surprise we found one of the servers catching upto is to deliver the drink a few blocks down the road! This was something! Quality service at it’s best! I’ll definitely visit again and if you haven’t already, what are you waiting for haha
Jerry Smith
More board games in one place than you can imagine. Knowledgeable staff will help you select games you may enjoy, and allow you to try them out for free at the provided tables. There is also a cafe in the store where you can try the games while enjoying a snack and beverage. It's a great place to bring kids to play games before buying them. The staff has been spot on with their suggestions. There are games available for all ages and interests so you can disconnect and have some human based entertainment.
Jade Harley
Always a great place. Lots of games - board games, card games, tabletop games, miniatures games, puzzles, all the good stuff. When there's not a pandemic going on they have a restaurant, and I appreciate that they've got the restaurant closed still to be safe.
Troy Reppas
Board games and knock it out of the park Espresso then the atmosphere and vibes just feels like extra 😍. …
Logan Kaplan
This place is amazing! They have been around since 99 and they have moved a few times around Seattle. Their storefront is beautiful, well organized, and the staff are absurdly helpful and knowledgeable. Couldn't recommend more highly even if you're not a big game player. They have something for everyone's style of entertainment.
Benjamin King
Ultimately Card Kingdom can provide decent service to customers. Take note that I am talking specifically about Card Kingdom online (as this is the easiest way I can actually make a review). I do have some qualms as far as what they provided.
First I used an affiliate link from YouTube to attempt to get a customer discount. That didn’t work even though the site told me my discount was added onto my total. The next main problem was that some of the near mint cards I received I wouldn’t call NM. Two cards showed signs of wear on the edges, and one was slightly bent.
Now let’s talk about the good. Every card I ordered was the exact copy, and none were missing. They were shipped pretty well with the cards being in a plastic casing. They also provided a bit of “card candy” I’ll call it with a free sticker and token card.
So yes, I can give them a recommendation. You can likely find a better service on another site or your local dealer but Card Kingdom can get you what you need.

kiana ehsani
The staff are very friendly and helpful. We reserved a room and it was a great experience. We really enjoyed playing with board games as well as great food service. Will definitely go there again to explore new games. You can try as many games as you want (for free) and get a chance to buy them if you love it.
Jeffrey Aikin
Unique game shop / pub with knowledgeable and helpful staff and a wide selection of board games, card games and RPGs. Weekend tournaments and sessions too when the pandemic doesn’t interfere. I bring out of town visitors here as a tourist destination.
Vera Pera
A great shop with a decent selection and over-the-top customer service. They host a decent number of events (their event calendar is on their website). The staff is quite knowledgeable, and some have admitted to not knowing the answer to a question, but have been ready to point us in the right direction. Also, their Games Workshop stuff is a great value! 11/10, will shop here again.
Alex Loumos
Great board games store with a wide selection of hard to find games. Attached bar is a nice place for a small bite and drinks, with a large tournament room and many available tables for gaming groups and events. Able to pick up Card Kingdom online orders in-store as well.
Gabriel Rivas
Place is always nice to visit. Has friendly staff and well stocked on any table top games & card games.
Nicole Sisk
Great game store and Cafe. They have a very wide selection of games. This is also card kingdom where you can buy and sell trading cards like Magic the Gathering. The main issue is the limited parking. They are always very busy and their dedicated parking does not hold many cars.
Ben Levine
Not enough good things to say about this place. It has caring and friendly staff, provides a wide assortment of games to borrow for free, has great Magic the Gathering community and would honestly be considered amongst the best places in the world to play Magic at. Their food and coffee is great. Rotating menu and taps for beer. If I could give them 6 stars I would, as I am a regular here. I recommend you consider becoming one too.
Kyle Richmond
This is a great and unique establishment that offers food, drinks, and pre and hopefully again post pandemic, as a place to gather and play games, hangout with friends and family as well as buy any games you may desire. The staff in the Cafe and game store are always friendly and helpful.
Katlyn Farmer
I have never had a bad time at this establishment. Staff are always super friendly, food options aren't bad and the selection of beers is always phenomenal. I'll return again and again for beers and games with friends.
David Hunter
Had a lot of fun hanging out with new friends while playing Nemisis for the first time. The drinks were good and the food was tasty.
Diane Thach
Amazing selection of games and the food is delicious! The games are competitively priced to what you'd find online, so might as well support them over the big guys!
I love that you don't have to purchase anything to play a game you've been interested in, but if you dine in with them while playing a game and you like it you can receive a discount!
Candace Glenn Bradford
Nice atmosphere and a great place to check out some new games and relax with friends. We enjoyed the food but portions are small and price a bit high. I still highly recommend, plus they have parking in an area that can be hard to find.
Chris Davis
Cool game store with an attached pub. Decent selection of beer, although a weak showing for dark beers. Good food. All the wait staff has been cool every time we've been.
Check a game out of the library for free. If you like it, you can get a discount on purchasing a new copy for yourself.
Always plenty of games going on to watch if that's your thing.
AJ Reardon
Great selection of board games, pretty strong tabletop RPG section. I don't play CCGs or miniatures but they have those, too. Staff are friendly and helpful -- lots of enthusiasm and none of the know-it-all attitude you find at bad game stores. Best of all there are lots of test copies of games which you can play. Food in the cafe section is more of a 3.5-4 star experience but the tap list is usually full of exciting things.
A Lack of Games
This store always gives amazing service. The food is fantastic (if a tad pricey) but not even the best thing about the store. The games that they have available for free play are fun and simple, and the staff are knowledgeable about the games and systems of games that will work well for each customer. Would recommend again. Have a look at the miniatures, but leave a few for me. 😁
Valicetra 'rah
Amazing selection of games, books, and miniatures. Nice to be able to relax and have a bite while enjoying those games, I've come here to buy many a thing, show visiting friends from out of town, and just brows when I have nothing else to do. The food on the other hand is not my favorite, trying too hard to make simple comfort foods fancy just doesn't work for me, though others seem to love it.
Devilduckie 42
Love this place! Checked out a game called A little bit wordy for my partner and I to play during dinner, now we are waiting for ot to come back in stock to get it.
Devon Anderson
One of the gems of Seattle. The service I've gotten every time I've been here has been incredible. Their weekly tournaments and activities bring in tons of people in the community. Their bar area seating is quite popular so plan ahead if you want to drink. But you can order food while still sitting inside the board game shop section so you've got options. Ask the people behind the counter for some game suggestions for you and your group, they can generally feel out the vibe and give you a killer suggestion. Have fun and order the nachos!
James Stack
Great game selection. The food at the cafe is pretty good too, although the menu is a bit limited, the prices are pretty high, and the service can be pretty slow. But being able to borrow and play a wide variety of different board games while you order and eat is pretty awesome!!
Danyon Greymoon
This place is awesome! Best game store in the US. I traveled all the way from Utah just to go.
They have a huge selection of products from board games to magic to table top RPGs.
They also have a bar / cafe that serves good brews and food, and you can rent board games to play at the table. They also have two private rooms you can rent that get full service from the cafe.
Can only imagine how great events are here!
Mike Lindsey
In my experience, probably the best example of a friendly local game store in the city. Great game selection, and friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff.
They always have a selection of games on hand to play so you can try before you buy. Plus, you can pop into the attached cafe for a bite and a beer.
If you are in Ballard, and you like tabletop games, you owe it to yourself to make a visit.
Vimanyu Aggarwal
Lots and lots of board games with a huge variety! You can play the games for free inside whenever they are open. The staff is super friendly and helps you figure out the game that'd suit your taste! The only issue is that they are nearly always short on parking during the evenings.
Gabriel Pratt
Great selection of tabletop games to buy. Top notch, trending games and old classics. The bar has a great vibe for playing said games. Good drink and food selection.
Be warned there is frequently a long wait, and because the tables are mostly for playing games it can be difficult to judge wait time.
Support your local game stores, this one is a gem (or maybe a dimond) and we should try to keep it around.
David G
Workers here are very helpful. You can walk in with a vague idea of the type of game you want to play, and they will match you with the perfect game. They seem to know everything about every game in the store, which is amazing!!
Morgan Cesa
The best place to play M:tG and board games in town. Food is pretty good (way better than other similar establishments), and the employees are always helpful in finding new games that I might like. The shop is clean and well-organized and their tournaments/events are always well run.
Pookie McCool
This is my favorite board game store, I wish I had one in Ohio! The layout of the store is perfect because the play areas don't interfere with shopping. They have an excellent selection, great prices and an incredible staff! The employees were very passionate and knowledgeable about games and based on our interests recommended a few other games for us to buy.
Mark Bramhill
A great community space. A huge store with incredible selection, helpful staff who can recommend and teach you new games, and an inviting atmosphere. There’s no pressure to buy a game or a coffee while you’re there (though I usually do) — you can just play a game with friends. One of the best spots in Ballard.
Emily
I've been playing magic the gathering here for a year starting as a new player. Welcoming community for kids to adults, new players to old. Everyone is nice and willing to help you learn.
Always has a crowd of 4 plus, 8 person pods for Friday night magic draft/standard. Staff are friendly, knowledge and remember the regulars.
Nice food selection to grab a bite before playing, or go with friends to borrow and play a board game. Great way to spend a drizzly afternoon and try some new games.
If you're around Bellevue or willing to drive, highly recommend that location as well as it's bigger and has a better food selection accordingly.
John Boulden
A great gaming place with an attached eatery.
Sudhanshu Tamhankar
Absolutely love this place. I usually go here or the other location in Bellevue. This one is slightly smaller, but has the same overall feel. If you have a party of about 6 board games lovers, this is the place to go. Their restaurant is usually full on Friday and Saturday nights, but you can still sit in the open seating area and order from the same restaurant. Outside food is not allowed though. Their games collection, even those which are free to play, is pretty great. However, do give them a call beforehand to check if the place is full or some game event is going on.
S
Great place to move our weekly game night to; good food, polite but not intrusive people (there's an expectation that people will be into their games and not generally want to be disturbed), and when I have bought games from them they were helpful, sending me alerts when it was in stock, letting me try them out in the store.
We did get a table in the middle of a room so there was some accidental jostling when it was busy but for the most part it is a great place to convene.
David Bruton
Great place to stop by, hang out with some friends, and learn a new game.
You can try out any game in their game vault, and they provide some great recommendations!
They're got a huge selection to purchase from. Their cafe/bar is connected so you can play a game in the shop or cafe.
Keep an eye on the crowd though, and don't fill up the cafe playing if there's a good number of people waiting for your table.
Misha Stone
I love this place. I won't lie, the board game library is the big draw. With the incredible selection that Card Kingdom has, it's hard not to find something to enjoy with a date, the kids, or a group a friends.
The atmosphere is classy and cozy, in booths or tables large and small, and the outdoor seating is an especially nice touch, with the heating lamps, though it can still get a little chilly out there so bring a jacket. The draft selection (another big draw) is superb, and they've got both wines and mead. I'm not a fan of the German aperitif, but glad they added it to the menu.
They have good hours and kitchen stays open late too. I especially appreciate the service. Staff are always very patient with gaming patrons, since of course they expect that. And they even help with some game rules if they know the game.
So why 4 stars and not 5? I just wish the food menu was better. I try to eat beforehand when I go here. None of the main dishes are particularly inviting or satisfying except maybe the grilled cheese with bacon and tomato. Not having a frier on site really limits what they can provide. No fried chicken or French fries or calamari. Salads are rather bland. I hope they eventually revamp this one aspect, but I'll still come here nonetheless.
Faizan Chaudhry
Best game shop in town. Extensive selection of board games for purchase and they also have a large collection that you can borrow from and play in house. Decent amount of pen and paper stuff, a lot of options for Magic the gathering. There's an anointing cafe area where you can sip on coffee or beer as you play, or you could much on some delicious nachos or hummus and pita. All in all, this place has it all.
Abdullah Syed
Friendly staff on the game and food end. Not intimidating at all for people trying to get into gaming. Guy at the front desk even spelt my name right on the first try 😃 …
Zack Campbell
Wonderful place, and the food is amazing, though a little limited in the selection. The private "Green room" is gorgeous, and has wonderful atmosphere.
JP
Cool restaurant and board game store where you can come with your friends or date. They have decent food and serve alcohol. They have a pretty neat collection of rare and random board games. The best part is that you can rent/borrow board games to play while you just hang out.
Elora Hoberecht
I love this place! I come for the board games but I stay for the fun social interactions with friends and staff. I will say the food is a bit pricey and the quality is unremarkable, but I don't go here for the food. The staff here is incredibly kind and very helpful! Everyone is very knowledgeable about the hobby which is really helpful for people like me who are new to board gaming. This place is amazing and I hope it never changes.
Nick Collins
Super cool board game / table top game store. It seems like the perfect spot to:
a) peruse some potential board game purchases
b) bring a couple of friends for a board game hangout OR to trial a board game
c) have a date
Very wide selection of games, as well as figurines and trading cards. Definitely worth a visit, and the staff there are very knowledgeable and helpful.
Erkin George
Excellent board game shop and place to enjoy community for all sorts of tabletop and card games.
Alex DeLeon
I've been to Mox a bunch of times, for a variety of different things (birthdays, group meetings, a few beers) and it's been a consistent experience over the last few years. The place can get PACKED, especially on the weekends, but you can usually find a seat if you're patient. The staff is awesome about making game recommendations, and there are more here than you can play in even a month of consistent visits.
The food options here are just okay. They have a good beer selection, but their kitchen is hit and miss on the lunch and dinner offerings. I've had some good, some bad, but most things are not one's you'll write home about. I'd recommend dinner elsewhere, and stick to the games and drinks.
Anya B
Friendly, knowledgeable, and charismatic staff. I love the ability to be able to choose from a wide variety of games while eating really good food. Fun to go on a date or withna group of people. The curried artichoke dip is stellar! I also really like their root beer on tap. I'm also sure that people who love to game love being super close to the cafe with great food and drinks.
swish32
Used to come here as a kid to play MTG and other card games - came back to sell my collection. I was blown away by how kind, courteous, and fun all of the staff members I saw and interacted with were. This place has had a wonderful atmosphere for quite a while now.
Darren Hoover
If you like table top games of any kind, it's a fantastic place to be. They have a really nice bistro/coffee shop as well!
Marie Belisle
Mox is amazing! I love going to Mox. They have a huge selection of board games you can try in store with no purchase, and you can stay for hours (as long as you find a table). The food in the restaurant is so good too! And there's room to play games while in the restaurant.
The staff is also super knowledgable about games and I often find myself purchasing staff picks. I definitely recommend this shop.
Chrisy Couts
Amazing food, great staff. We picked a boardgame to learn, and everyone made the experience so positive.
JJ Lanza
Mix Boarding House is a great gaming store. It is the physical home of Card Kingdom for all your Magic the Gathering needs. Staff are very knowledgeable, extremely helpful, and very friendly. This store also serves as a place to gather and play your favorite board, card, miniature, or role-playing games. Highly recommend visiting if you are a game enthusiast.
Mike Petschek
Really the modern platonic ideal for a gaming shop. The selection is great, the interior clean and bright, the staff friendly and the fact you can grab dinner or just snacks as part of your trip is icing on the cake! If you have even a passing interest in board or card games, make it a point to go here and spend an evening seeing what ships like this truly can be
Rob Michaels
Huge library of free board games available for use at the bar area. Friendly, knowledgeable staff can help you buy or borrow the best fit game for you and your friend group. Food is OK but overpriced, drink selection is good.
Jacob
Truly the best game and food establishment I've ever visited. The layout is clean and well presented with plenty of room for multiple gaming groups. The restaurant side has a varied menu and great service.
If this came to Portland, I would spend far too much money at Mox.
Nathan McKay
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff regarding games!
Would suggest warning customers about how hot some of the apps are though! Ouch!
They are very tasty though!
Great place to play some games and eat some food!
Jonathan O'Shea
From Magic the Gathering to all your favorite board and dice games. This place has it all. Only have ever found one other card shop that also makes food. But the highlight is the way they handle online orders while maintaining social distancing.
Matt Mulder
Great place to play games and socialize with friends. Try out board games before buying them. It gets busy here, and sometimes you'll have to wait for a table even though there are a lot of tables.
Matthew Gordon
Great place to grab some drinks and try some new games. Huge selection of games to choose from. Staff is very nice as well. Pretty busy so there might be a wait but it's worth it.
Kat V.
Look up one of the many board game meetups that frequent here if you're looking for a fun group to hang out with. Staff is always friendly and being able to try games from Card Kingdom is great! I wish they had a full bar, but I get that not every place can do that. Can't wait to go back again!
Stef D
An awesome place to take a group of friends or date night. I love being able to test games before buying them and doing so over food and drinks is great. Just be aware that it'll be a bit of an expensive night and that this much awesomeness comes with a long wait time for a table (but you can play games while you wait).
Katie Griggs
This place is fantastic whether you're into hardcore or casual gaming.
Borrow a game from their library to test out with a group of friends, family, or a partner while sipping a local brew or munching on some tasty food, then enjoy a nice discount if you like the game enough to take it home.
They also have tons of events during the week for magic and other games, catering to a variety of skill/dedication levels.
Caleb Hull
Mox is probably one of the coolest places ever. Maybe 100+ board games you can play for free, hundreds to buy, really great food, drinks, and tables galore. There's sections for RPGs, board games, card games (including a competition room), tables in the dining room, tables in the main room, even cute secluded booths for quiet play. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable (especially James, very friendly, approachable, and truly likes helping people!) and will help you find the perfect game or help you with the rules if you're playing an unfamiliar one. The games are not cheap but for how much enjoyment you get out of them, it's worth it. Definitely an A+ place to hang out.
Sadhana Reddy
They have multiple board games and the customer service folks are ever so helpful in explaining and helping to pick out the games. The restaurant has amazing cheese nachos and mimosa. It gets little difficult to find the booth for large crowds on weekends.
Jeremy Widelitz Cutler
The selection here is kind of insane. The store covers every flavor of board game, RPGs, and a lot of other things you can think of. The staff is knowledgeable about which games will meet any particular interest.
There is also a constant updating of store displays, creating new collections that allow you to jump to new games knowing that you already like a related game. Entering the store even weekly is a varying experience.
In addition, being able to borrow a large selection of games to play in the adjoining cafe/bar is a great way to test things you might want to purchase.
Ali Hasanzadeh
An amazing place for playing any kind of games for nerds. The pub makes it even better. You can find all sorts of card games, and other strategic table games there. I love their online service. I just think that they cam do a little better with their costumer service. Don't get me wrong. They're all nice. But, it takes some time to be your turn. I don't like waiting that much. :)
Chris Hale
Awesome game shop. They have all that you need for most any kind of gaming. Boardgames, RPG, casual, heavy, etc. Workers extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I'd come in again if I lived closer.
Kari Rosa
My favorite place in Seattle to shop for MTG cards. It's a great spot to chill with friends and play, too. I really like the computer system they have in place to order individual cards. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly, too! The cafe side is convenient for those long games, but a little pricey (it's in Ballard so it's not too surprising).
diksha narahari
Being an avid board games lover, this could be the best place I find to indulge in it ! Plenty of games, merchandise and place to sit and have a nice time with your friends. It also has tournament rooms and family games room to play with your children. Stays open till 12AM and offers a good range of appetizers ,entrees and desserts too !
Will B.
There's something for everybody here. Whether you're a seasoned trading card aficionado or just coming for a drink and a round of board games with friends, Mox has it all. Food is good, drinks aplenty. The actual stock of games available is enormous, plus the shop side has a huge selection of games and cards available. Check for local weekly and monthly tournaments for Magic the Gathering and more!
Sarah Roxanne (Sarah Roxanne)
I love that is it so easy to test play games before I commit to buying them here. enjoy some food and company while playing games from the store's library of games and then buy the game if you fall in love with it! The staff is always really helpful and knowledgeable too, so if you don't know where to start looking they are a great resource.
Jack Christoforo
A bar/cafe attached to a game/card shop. A match made in heaven and Mox capitalizes well with a massive selection of games(new and old) to borrow(for free) while you drink or snack in the cafe.
The food is pricey for what you get, but it's all good. Paying a bit extra for the setting is fair. The staff are all great and personable. It's a great place if you like drinking with friends and playing games!
Ashlimarie Dong
I've been to many other board game shops, but they don't compare to Card Kingdom. The selection isn't the largest, but they seem to focus on the latest games and also good, solid games that strand the test of time. The staff are well informed and can give great recommendations on games. The girl I usually talk with has given me at least five different great game recommendations.
Jacob DeGraw
This was my first experience visiting a gaming cafe, and I loved it! The server was super friendly, and I felt like he came to our table the perfect number of times. While the atmosphere can be a little loud, everybody is enjoying a game, which adds to the already positive ambiance.
Sanmaya Jolly
Decent selection of meals. Great games, staff give you good recommendations if you wanna play along with your meal. Place's got the Ballard vibe for sure
Doug Wade
Mox is a fantastic games shop. Their selection of board games is par excellence, as is their selection of TTRPG paraphernalia. I was surprised to discover new games I'd never heard of in their euro game section, as they're my favorite games, and similarly to discover D&D monster cards, which will make my DMing much easier. The staff is knowledgeable, providing good game recommendations, both for playing in-store and to buy. I haven't tried the cafe, but there is one.
Jeremy Park
What awesome store/restaurant! The staff is generally well versed in games and they even let you check out games for the occasional date ;). The only knock (if any) would be it's always busy. Just show's how awesome this place is.
Omnifarious
This is one of the best gaming stores around. They have a ton of different games and ample space for playing them with friends. The staff are almost all people who would be very good customers if they weren't behind the counter. They are knowledgeable, helpful, friendly and enthusiastic about their products.
I very rarely (well, perhaps not so rarely as I tend not to review places I don't like) give reviews this high.
Leigh Momii
Mox is connected to Card Kingdom, the game store. The best part about Mox is that you can check out games from Card Kingdom and bring them into Mox to play while you eat and/or drink. Mox has decently good food and beer. They also have rooms in the back you can rent for a few hours with groups to play games.
Heather Hutchison
Unfortunately I've only been able to get a table here once out of 3 or 4 attempts. That visit was fantastic, with great service, drink, and food and the games people offering great suggestions.
I just wish there was a better way to manage crowds and get a spot. Either a reservation system or 2 hr time limit? I know they promote a time-pressure-free experience, but I'd understand a reasonable limit during busy times. Its better than being group 26 on the waitlist and not knowing if you should waste time waiting when you don't know if it will be one hour or four (which happened a few weeks ago).
Matt Zaharias
Solid games store with a solid restaurant/bar attached. Lots of tables, open until 11pm and you can check out some board/card/tabletop/rpg games while enjoying drinks and food with your friends. The sandwiches are very good.
Curtis McCoy
Mox is is the very model of a modern major game store, with a store model being copied to great success all over.
Has all major TCGs with singles available for pickup through CardKingdom, table top and hobby games like Warhammer or X-Wing, D&D, a great selection of board games, and open play spaces for all, including free rentals for board games.
The conjoined restaurant is a great place to bring a game (or free rental) to play during or after dinner, snacks, or drinks, and allows room rentals for tabletop and D&D sessions. The food is a bit pricy, but you're paying a premium essentially for the table time, as you won't be rushed out when you're done eating. That said, the food itself is really quite good.
Mox also holds events nearly daily for various games (check the schedule on the website), including Friday Night Magic drafts, and various constructed formats on other days (thriving scene for Legacy on Mondays!), as well as events for Pokemon, KeyForge, and intro events for D&D other tabletop RPGs, Warhammer "beers and battles", demo events for various games, and even miniature paint jams. Of course an event going on doesn't mean you can't still grab a table to play something else!
There's also a good selection of other various gaming nick nacks, including fancy dice, card sleeves and boxes, poker cards including some with custom designs by local artists, and much, much more.
It's a great store with something for nearly everyone, just go check it out, or their other location in Bellevue!
Thad O'Dell
Great selection of board games. Good service, they know board games. Very helpful with finding games!
They are fairly uptight about masks right now. Which is good or bad I guess depending on your perspective.
Chelsea Yell
Such a cute place! I love playing tabletop games and Dungeons and Dragons and am so glad to have found this place. The selection is great, the atmosphere is fun, and the employees are so helpful and cheerful. Not to mention the food is great!
Norvel Velasco
They had the Idomitus box sets!!! 8 of em!!! Sold out everywhere and is the cheapest that I found!!
Andrew koltko
Great place to go for food and games, they have bunch of games you can play while there, pus their supply of board, card, and tabletop games and accessories is the best.
Sharon Feliciano
My family loves to come here. We grab a bite to eat and borrow a game from their extensive library. The staff is super knowledgeable and always has great recommendations for easy/quick to learn games that are good for a variety of ages. When it's just me and my teenager, or me and my husband we will sit and play Magic The Gathering.
Scott Boyd
Food is sometimes a little too inventive for my tastes, but otherwise an awesome/well executed concept and incredible place to play a board game with friends. Great lending library of games.
Kareem Abdol-Hamid
Great place, amazing selection and convenient food. The employees are amazing you can ask them literally anything about any game and usually they have something to say or some advice. And they won't sell you a game if they don't think you'd like it. It really is a place where passionate people work and play. My only gripe is the food isn't great... But it's convenient so it's not bad.
Samuel Warby
This is a great place to get a new and unique board game. And even better, if you are not sure you would like a paticular game, they more than likely have it to borrow. There is even an attached bar and restaurant that you can have some drinks with friends and grab a plate of nachos to share while you try out a fun and enjoyable hobby! They also host events and have regular game nights for whatever tabletop game genre you love.
Kate Davis
Awesome selection, though a little pricey. Lots of games I wanted to buy, but I wasn't prepared for the sticker prices on some of them. Huge store and helpful staff, too. Love the wall of games you can "test drive" before purchase, and the connected cafe!
Percy Loli
Very nice crowd. Tons of games. People playing the friendly staff and they have open box for you to try the games. The cafe inside is good too. Definitely will visit again
Sean Ward
I loved this place when I first moved here. It's like a nerd safe haven. The recent re-branding and menu changes over the past months are the only nit picking I'll do. Quality rotating beer list, the food is done well. This place can get crowded quickly and because it is catering towards gamers, the wait to be seated can be long. If you know you want to go, reserve a table.
Alicia Brown
Love the shop and the food is great! The food selection is a little different than we're used to but it is really good! We loved playing MTG while we ate. They even have games you can borrow to play while you eat. ❤
Lucas Chapel
I love the concept behind this place, the service is very friendly and it has great ambience. I subtracted a star because when my food came (I got the chicken tinga and rice bowl) I received half the food I'd expect to get for $14, and I've had similar experiences with other dishes as well. That said, it definitely makes for a fun night out with friends and its popularity (it's consistently packed when I've gone) speaks for itself.
Keith S
Always a fun place to hang out. Try a game! Friendly and knowledgeable staff, good tap list and food.
Sean McIntyre
Welcoming atmosphere, pleasant employees, good selection and variety, plenty of space to play. Haven't had a chance to try the restaurant attached, but every table was filled with a group of smiling people enjoying drinks and a variety of board games, so it left a good impression upon me.
Joe Anderson
Amazing board game cafe. They have good food, prompt and friendly customer service, and a wide selection of board games for you to play with as you eat. Then, you can purchase a game you played for 15% off!! My wife and I abousultely fell in love with it, and plan to return every time we are in Seattle.
Kat F
Mox is saved into my favorites for good reason. Their selection is awesome, the staff are cool and they go above and beyond constantly.
The food in the cafe is expensive but tasty, and you can play board games in the restaurant / bar. There are also tables inside the shop you can use to play games at. You can try before you buy a large number of games, and there are tournaments in house for a variety of games. Also there is a small bulletin board you can post your looking for group request.
Tyler “Bolt” Stuart
I honestly thought the service was great, good job servers, you're amazing. I just felt a bit turned off by the menu. I had a burrito and don't remember reading it would be so painfully spicy. Also the wine we had felt very over priced and tbh I woulda been fine with some cheap box wine. I was there to play games and have fun not be charged so much for so little. Also table space felt limited in the front of the house and set aside for magic players in the back. Not super friendly to anyone with a bigger than average board game.
Chris and Sarah Fraser
Awesome place great customer service. Plus rooms to play table top games and is a fun environment to hang out and play games
Michael Shahen
Mox Boarding House is a blast! They've got board games and card games every direction you look, with space available to play any of these games. They have tables for card and board games, setups for strategy model games, and even a little nook dedicated to Roleplaying games. They've got a nice bar and restaurant, very solid food and drinks, the perfect compliment to any kind of gaming. Bring your friends, or stop by and meet some new people, either way, you'll have a good time and you'll find any kind of game or gaming supplies you'll need.
Robin Varni
Really impressive. I've been dragged to many a game store in the 20+ yr relationship with my husband and I can honestly say this is the best. They are up to date on expansions, creative with themes of displays, and have chandeliers made of freaking magic cards! The collaboration with Cafe Mox is brilliant - if only they could find a middle ground so that gamers can stay a long time to play and wait staff don't get screwed out of tips. (I would say a mandatory purchase from a drink selection would be good.) The back rooms are cool, though the tournament room looks boring compared to the side rooms.
J
Mox is a tabletop gamer's dream come true. They have a wide selection of games, fair prices (with specials if you try the game there), and a decent selection of food, coffee, and beer. You can try any of the games at the counter for free and see if you really want the next game on your list. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and even the food service staff know a thing or two to help you with the board games. I'd love to make this a weekly destination if I ever could.
Jamie Klouse
Staff is very knowledgeable about the products. I love that you can take and play pretty much any game they carry before deciding to buy it, and you can sip a beer while you do it too. However, I wish they had more specials. Often, the only thing that brings me in to Card Kingdom is the social atmosphere -- if I'm just looking to get a game, I can almost always get it for 30% less at various online sites.
However, the social atmosphere at Cafe Mox attached is undeniably the best, and the party rooms in the back are top notch and very affordable.
John Wang
One of the best places to play board games or Magic or whatever have you ! Family friendly, and there's a bar to get drinks if you're thirsty. You can't bring in food from outside, though, so keep that in mind. We love this place !!
Josh Jelin
One of the first gaming bars, there's a reason why so many folks have copied this model. If you want to play board games in a busy bar, it'd be hard to do better. Consider renting a private room if you have a big group (6+).
Jon Short
It's a cool place in seattle to play magic the gathering. I have been told that it is also the hub for card kingdom. While card kingdom may not be the cheapest place to get cards online, I thought it was really cool that I could order my cards from a computer in store and pick it up at the counter. So this means that you will not be able to window shop the card in person, but they have one of the biggest collections in the state. Street parking in the area is horrible and limited. I strongly suggest that you carpool or take some other form of transport there.
Addie Kingsland
One of the best places to socialize with a group. Borrow a board game, eat some amazing food*, stay for as long as you want. The party rooms have amazingly fun themes and the service is always fantastic.
*I highly recommend the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Homemade bread, homemade peanut butter, homemade jelly. You won't believe how tasty it is.
Jimmy Son
I got a nice espresso, and great service, both in the restaurant and the store. The place has great atmosphere, seems like a fun place to play a game. Some of the booths have a curtain for a bit of privacy while gaming, a nice touch.
Aria Blair
Cute little board game night with some lovely people and a wonderful glass of mead. That's a good Sunday evening if I know anything.
Gavin McRae
We're able to accommodate me rather well. Changed a order I accidentally shipped to myself to in store pickup without any issues and had great service. :)
Storm Ghost
Great trade-in prices, great product for sale, great staffing, parking's available across the street.
Only gripe is the community around the store. Bunches homeless camps around. Makes me feel a little uncomfortable leaving my car around there. This isn't an issue the mox boarding house can fix though. Sucks, regardless.
Truthsays
Oh this place was so much fun ! Awesome selection of games . The food and drink were great .
Ethan Towne
Mox is the best game store in Seattle. And it's not even close.
Megan C
Great place to go with friends! The workers up at the front we're so helpful and made awesome suggestions! We ended up buying the one game we were told to try out, it was hilarious and fun to play! I would say the food is alright, same with the restaurant service! But Will definitely be coming bacj
Michael Artoria
Awesome game shop and a great staff. Good selection of pen and paper rpgs. While we were there my wife picked up the core rulebook, bestiary and players guide for Monte Cooks "The Strange" which is flipping amazing. And definitely go into Cafe Mix and order a Vader Stout.
Eric Hogan
Really nice and inviting place. Good food though a little overpriced. The main attraction though is all the board games and card games available to play.
Jehad Affoneh
Really busy sometimes but if you can get a spot, it’s a great place to grab a beer, grab a game you’ve never tried before, and maybe some snacks. It’s also a great place to test games with friends before you buy them. Knowledgeable and helpful staff too!
Danny Dannaher
I can not say enough good things about Mox.
The staff is super friendly and helpful. Their events (I have only been to magic events) are well organized and are being run really well.
The food in the restaurant is really tasty and a love that I can sit and enjoy my food and drink while playing games!
Anna Gonzalez
Amazing selection of board games and magic the gathering products. Mox has a fun atmosphere and lots of room to play tabletop games and a cafe to eat. The cafe can be a bit pricy but it's still a good time
Wes Tromble
Experienced and knowledgeable staffed were willing to step aside from stocking inorder to help inform me about products and current rules for a variety of games and hobbies
John Popovich
Went to buy some games for a white elephant and was seen looking at a box. One employee came over and asked me if I'd like to see it out of the box. They had one opened to borrow while there so I was shown the contents and quickly explained the rules and gameplay. This personal and somewhat lucky chance definitely gave me a better idea of the game. Always friendly staff and great games there.
Tillman Erb (Zack)
I don't play the games that draw the crowds, but I like popping in to pick up my teenage son because it's such a lively gathering place for people of all ages who share a common interest. And I've picked up plenty of gifts here with help from the staff. And my son has enjoyed coming here for years.
Amir Rahmati
I’ve been to many board game cafes all around the world. This is hands down the best one I’ve been to by a wide margin. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, rich selection, lots of tables, well-sorted games, good food, fair prices. ... Just wow...
Daniel Yager
This place is amazing! It has a massive selection of board games and you can play anywhere within the store and cafe. It’s hard to get into the cafe on weekends though due to the popularity and people playing board games all night.
Kian Alden
Excellent selection of games and miniatures, as well as hobby supplies. If they don't have it in stock the staff are knowledgeable enough to recommend a substitute or order it for you.
AAW Games
Great games, incredible food, friendly staff. One downside to this location are the waits for tables on the weekends and food (limited staff- 1 person) on the weekdays. I wish they would expand the cafe and eliminate some of the retail space (or find a way to merge the two).
Overall an incredible place! 4 stars!
E Ki
If you love to play games of any sort, than Card Kingdom is the place to go! My family has been coming to them since they were in Greenwood and known as Berserk Games. The staff are always great, they love what they do and it shows. They have pointed us in the direction of some of our favorite games that still get played regularly years later. Best place for board and card games in Seattle!!!
Viet Nguyen
Super fun. Huge selection of games, great food, amazing staff. They don't have a full bar unfortunately but they'll still try to accommodate as best as possible. They made me an alcoholic root beer float which was dangerous and to die for
Todd Burke
I think one of the other reviewer mention this to some extent too but this game store really is beautiful inside. People that work there are great too. I'm used to going into game stores that try to cram allot of product in small space and this shop is nothing like that. It's going to be hard for me to resist picking up some MTG booster packs now that I know this store is here. :-)
Sean Freund
Cool game store with lots of space to play Warhammer, D&D, MtG or any other table top game. We checked out a board game (for free), ordered a few drinks and an appetizer and spent a couple of hours hanging out and gaming. Everyone was in a good mood having fun with friends.
Jordan “For The” Nguyen
This food and atmosphere is amazing. It is welcoming, friendly, and cozy. There is plenty of space around most hours to play what you want and the staff is knowledgeable on their massive library.
The food itself is also diverse and enjoyable. Price is on the higher side but I found it fair if considering it as a way to pay for the atmosphere and the many free events and game rentals they allow. Absolutely recommend.
Kalyssa Eversman
Recently popped in to look for a card game I'd heard about, Anomia. I had difficulty finding it on the floor, but the two employees working the busy front desk were very friendly, eager, and quick to assist me. They were not able to locate the game on the floor either, but went the extra mile and hunted through the store's back room to find the last one in stock. It was evident that both employees really enjoy what they do and the company they work for, and I love supporting businesses who treat their employees well. It really shows in their excellent customer service.
Additionally, I am always astounded by the wide range of games Mox carries, and I can't wait to go back and try my hand at something new.
Haley Bear
Spent the day here with my dad. It was the perfect spot for some tea and snacks while learning new games together. They have an expansive amount of free to play board games and the food is good as well. The WiFi is free and they also have accessible power outlets at specific tables.
Gabe
Man... If I lived in Seattle this place would be a regular haunt. It was fantastic
Juthika Das
Great selection of games. Has a restaurant too where you can grab a beer and some snacks. Best part is I still manage to find open gaming tables on Friday nights!
Robert Ball (AramereSolblaze)
Love games and eating food? This is an amazing place to go. Great food, quick service, and a great library of games to try.
Burhan Nurdin
Awesome place with a lot of different games. I'll probably go back there if I ever need a group game or a family game. Also one thing I like about the place is the fact that you can play games in the store, so it makes a really cool hangout.
Amber Davis
Always a fun place to gather with friends and have some game time over drinks and food!
chris kellin
Very friendly, staff greeted me as I entered the store and answered any questions I had. I'm new to MTG, my friend got me into commander recently and I was looking to upgrade a deck. Looking around, there's something for everyone here.

The good
I really like Mox's board game store, the restaurant technology improovement was amazing. I will say their nachos sauce is very good, but the food could definitely improove.
Service was excellent. Whenever I asked for something they were on top of it. Its a great place to meet people or friends.
The bad
Most of it is finger food or stuff that's easy to eat with a board game, but I think they could have more variety.
Lack of parking. 2 hour parking nearby isn't necessarily cheap no one really will come out of town for 2 he parking on the weekends
Swati Makhija
Great places for a group of old or new friends. Large selection of games... with good food and drinks
Dale Hawkins
lots of games. knowledgeable and friendly staff
Kalen Davis
Card kingdom continues to be my go-to place for MTG singles. They rarely are out of stock on the cards I want, and their prices are almost always competitive with or better than the market value. More importantly, their customer service is phenomenal! I've had a few orders with small issues (card was LP instead of NM, faded ink on NM cards, etc), and customer service has always responded quickly and resolved the issue very professionally. I couldn't be happier with the service Card Kingdom provides.
D Burley
This place looks and is Amazing. There are pretty murals and game rooms decorated in different styles. There is a cafe with good food and a great selection of beer. There are little nooks for kids, card games, miniatures, etc. I wish there was something like this nearby me!
Brian Lee
I've sold cards to and bought cards from Card Kingdom, and every experience has been excellent. I recently looked at Star City Games because I thought they had lower prices, but the shipping is insane and without insurance. Card Kingdom has free or low shipping costs, and their shipping is insured - so much better than anywhere else! Thanks Card Kingdom for being my favorite one stop shop for Magic singles and sales!
Kit Collins
Great games, atmosphere, and space. Food is pretty bad and wayyy overpriced. Eat before you go
Jeff Sorensen
This place is so cool. A game store with play areas, tournament rooms, and a REAL restaurant. The food is delicious. The staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. The play areas are themed and they have hundreds of free-to-play games.
Alex
I cannot rave about this place enough. The staff is wonderfully helpful, especially if you are new to boardgames. Thier selection of games is just beautiful. Their is something here for every taste. To cap it all off.... They have alcohol 😍 …
Shay Moore
Best friendly local game store, hands down. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, amazing selection packed into a small space, and delicious food with a robust gaming library. Other cities model their game cafes after this spot for good reason!
Milo Price
Great board game store. It's connected to a cafe/bar too, so you can play while you eat or eat while you play. Huge selection and friendly staff, as well as frequent events and lots of tablespace for gaming.
Dennis Forgeon (Adergoll)
The staff accommodated me with mere moments left to closing, and on Christmas Eve for that matter. The truly impressive thing was.....I approached then as a one time patron and I was still given every possible convenience. This well groomed gaming establishment impressed me very much.
Aiesha Morrison-S
Awesome, the sales reps were very helpful and inviting. I am new to majic and went to buy my first set of sleeves and card storage box. I will definitely go back, and I recommend anyone to visit no matter their geek level.
Gamer Reviewer
I am a Warhammer 40K and Magic: the Gathering player doing reviews of game stores. I'm only focusing on reviewing these activities.
Card Kingdom is the gold standard of card game stores. The area is large, clean, and well lit. There are always having events. Singles are well organized, priced fairly, and have a wide selection.
Mike Palmer
Mox is great - good selection of games, decent mtg tournaments, ok food, and a nice atmosphere.
Gregor Matheson
Board games are great but the food is way too fancy. I was hoping for more casual food not scallops. But best place for board games and tabletop games
Adam Woodworth
Great store setting a new standard for game shops. You'll never see a cleaner or better kept shop with such visual interest and great prices. The adjacent Mox Ca
fe is beautiful and comfortable, though the pricing is a bit aggressive and the menu is a bit narrow. Nevertheless, this place is worth a trip out of the way.
Rayelle Miller
OMG! This place is awesome! I wish they were all over the USA. What you would want a game store to be and more. Great areas to play for gamers, families and a restaurant/bar area too. Whatever you are looking for they have it and the staff is knowledgeable and impressive!
Andrew Chemaly
Incredible service and a wonderful selection for any tabletop game you could think of!! Massive MTG stock and a great checkout system for singles 10/10 can't wait to go again!
Alex Van Sickle
Love this place! They have a bar, with food, that you can play any board game from their sales counter in. I'm awful about committing to new games but this allowed me to explore 'The Grizzled' which I loved so much I bought it and the expansion pack.
Also they sell WarHammer, and as a recovering WarHammer addict I'm inclined to love them for that alone!
B H
If you are into card, board, roleplay games then this is the place for you. If you are into one if these cultures you've probably at least heard of Card Kingdom attached.
You will enjoy your time here regardless. This is the first place I take people from out of town.
Azrael Vearidesh
Great selection of board games, Magic the gathering cards and accessories for both, and if you're not sure if they have what you want they have several stations where you can check their stock. They also have a cafe attached that's pretty good
Nita Luiz
This place is essentially a board game shop, that lets you come in and play games.. for Free.
They also have an adjoining restaurant where you can order food from. There's always a long wait to get seating in th restaurant because people tend to get a table and be there until they finish their game. However they do allow food in the gaming area, Alcohol isn't though.
They have a huge collection of games to choose from and a lot of tables to seat gamers.
I used to love this place and it absolutely breaks my heart to reduce two stars for this place. Two reasons:
Food: The food here is bad and overpriced. They recently changed the menu to add new dishes that they don't know how to cook. I ordered the Massaman curry which was NOT Massaman curry at all and was also the worst tasting curry I have ever had in my life. I couldn't even get through half of it.
This horrible dish costs 15 dollars for the veggie version and for any meat they charge 4 dollars more!! WTF? We ended our meal with a chocolate-coffee dessert thing that was as hard as stone. We asked the waitress if she could warm it up for us, but she gave some reason about being unable to do it in the oven and not having a microwave.
Gaming helpers: From previous experiences in Mox, the folks in the store have always be friendly, patient and willing to help out and explain game rules. This time we approached a guy in the store to explain a game to us and he flatly refused citing that "he can answer a question, but not help us learn a game". Maybe they have changed their helpfulness policy here but in all of my previous experiences in Mox, the staff has be great. Its sad that it has now come to this.
I still love Mox for the fact that you can just walk in and play games for free. But there is a ton of room for improvement when it comes to food, price point and service.
David Baggett
Fun games and solid food. The food is slightly overpriced but worth it for the atmosphere and friendly staff
killingmonkey11
Awesome place to sit down with some friends and try out a new bored game. They have a massive selection covering almost every type of bored game imaginable. If you want seating tho don't go during a tournament night as almost all the tables will be in use
Maria McBride
Probably one of my favorite places to go in Seattle. Great selection of games, awesome game area, and the restaurant has great menu items. Highly recommend.
Kristie Bennett
The staff was super helpful. I love getting to have a drink and play a board game. Seemed to have lots of tables in the restaurant and in the store. Had a great time!
N Y
Played in the private game room which allows for alcohol for $30/hr. 10 ppl tops because of fire regulations. Service was ok. Game selection was fantastic. Food was absolutely terrible. Had the worst affogato ($6 + tax) in my life.
Justin Graham
An excellent place to shop for board and tabletop games. Friendly staff, and private rooms make for great special occasion game nights.
Garnet Shepherd
This place is an amazing game store, and a nice cafe space, but the food menu falls short for a gaming venue. Maybe it's just the influence of Seattle foodies, but the menu tries too hard for an establishment that should offer lots of finger-friendly comfort foods.
Jeremy Tarpey
Great place to buy games. They also have a huge library of games you can try out in the store!
Melanie Justiniano
There are a ton of games to play here. The place is always packed. The food is only okay though. Mediocre bar food. The artichoke dip was great though, but I'd stay away from the grilled cheese. It's basically just bread.
Pete Heine
Great place. Service is excellent work staff and servers taking a real interest. Food and beer selections are excellent. Mostly it's a great place to hang out with friends, play some games, and buy them if you like them.
Jake Choiniere
This place was really awesome, too awesome probably, because now it is so busy you have to wait forever for a table, and the wait staff seem kind of short/rude now. Food is so-so, a bit pricey for what it is, but that's not really why you come. Eat elsewhere first and just have drinks while you game.
Abe Traven
I love this place! Awesome game store for any game you ever want to play, but the bar/restaurant is a great place to spend an afternoon discovering games. They never rush you, and its a great place to hang out!
Sam Speer
This is THE spot to get board games and Magic cards. You can typically find any Magic card from any set, as well as packs going back through the decades. Their delivery service is fast and affordable, as well (free delivery on singles orders over a certain amount). Friendly service, too.
Matt Young
Beautiful game shop/cafe where you can buy or rent board games and play them on the spot with a bunch of friends. Great place to chill out and have a good game and a good meal. Extremely friendly and responsive staff with great vibes. They also are a hub for card games so if you are looking for a duel you'd probably find one here which is awesome.
David Han
A bit smaller than the Bellevue location but that is a given since it's in the Seattle area. Staff was very nice and helpful and there were many open areas to play games. It's also very close to the main Street in Ballard so feel free to check out the area and come back for some fun!
Amol Brahme
Fun place to grab some beers and play some board games. They have excellent food options.
Disappointed Dave
Great variety of games both to buy and to play. Staff are very kind and helpful. Can play games from their library for hours. Great place to meet with friends for a laid back time.
Moose Thompson
Fantastic store. Has wide variety of games behind the counter to check out and play in attached coffee shop, Cafe Mox. You are not only allowed to play games, but encouraged. They even have game rooms to reserve, though I haven't.
The staff are knowledgeable, friendly and helpful, but not hovering.
There are a wide variety of games and related paraphernalia each in clearly defined sections. These sections include family games, puzzles, and sci-fi multi-player games. Plus they are open every day of the week from 10 am to midnight!
Paul Georgieff
Great place to play games with friends. Tables fill up fast on the weekends though.
Zane Draiman
Many places have been closed or have had to have inventory greatly reduced. Mox has kept up with much of what I remember pre-covid. It's a must visit for miniature, trading cards and board game nerds alike.
Brennan Weiding
I'm here a lot. Staff is great, food is great, the floor is clean an organized. Mox's Boarding House is pretty much what I dreamed a really cool board game shop could look like.
Cassie Boyce
You guys are amazing! My pre-order for the Commander 2020 product already came this morning. Can't wait for you guys to be fully open again. Looking forward to buying more cards and board games from you in person again!
Adam Simpson
Huge selection for board games, card games, and accessories. Attached to Cafe mox for maximum relaxation potential. Small note: can win store credit in tournament and then use credit for future events, allowing you to 'go infinite'
Addison Alexander
There are so many games that you can buy as well as add-ons to base games. The cafe was amazing, and for sure the Biscuit with Jam is to die for, so fluffy and big. We got a table in the evening around four, and ut wasn't a long wait at all as far as Sundays go. I'd advise you to get a sharper cheese on the Grilled Cheese though (provalone wasn't as flavorful as cheddar would have been), and the applesauce had a delightful cinnamon flavor to it. From my partners perspective. He enjoyed the Philly Cheese Steak, but was a bit wary of his Potato Salad since apparently it had tuna in it and that was unexpected (so if you don't like fish in your Potato Salad, go for a different side). For sure this is one of the better game stores around this area and is my favorite so far. The game stire staff was helpful and very on the ball with asking for assistance, and the check-out guy nearing our evening was really nice and funny. Thank you for reading my review!

The best FLGS in Seattle. Not only do they have a huge selection of games and minis, but they've got ample play space and an attached charming cafe. The staff are warm, informative, and all-around great people.
technoordeath
They have massive selection of board games to try before you buy, and their beer and wine selection is pretty great. I always love going there with my friend for a board game night.
Marissa Braun
Knowledgeable staff. Good food. Discounts if you play the game you purchase. This place is great!
Momen Abdelkarim
Good vibes. Hard to find seating in retail section for large groups
Charles Gilday
Excellent for trying games before you buy, with a discount in store. Good food, excellent and knowledgeable staff. One of my favorite gaming stores.
Vera Rodriguez
It is always great! You can play the games you like or discover new ones. It is a best option to get together with friends and family. The food is good and the server is great.

The most amazing service in this industry hands-down. I ordered the cards that I needed to complete my deck on a Thursday afternoon and received them exactly 23 hours later the following day. They had wonderfully neat packaging and all the cards I ordered were protected small plastic case, very professional. You have a loyal customer for life with me! And best of all, its right here in my home state of Washington!
Jon Williams
Been coming here since high school, am super glad it's as successful as it is, and it's success comes from it's fantastic staff and their great selections. My only wish is that they had more/better parking.
James Tuesday Paschall
Fun place to play games and get snacks and drinks!!! Get all your game stuff here too!
Mr.E.Dengler “AKA Mr.E [Mystery]”
Worth checking out! All sorts of board games, card games, fantasy games, and trading card games! The best thing is that they have a small restaurant where you can play their/your own tabletop games for free while ordering food to eat!
Josh Hartman (Dolbin)
It was a dark and blustery day and I found myself seeking refuge from the driving rain. I stumbled in, and as the warmth settled into my weary bones I gazed around me and found shelf upon shelf filled with the most wonderful games for all ages sorted by genre. The helpful staff helped me find a game that looked promising for me and my entire family. I made my purchase and never looked back. Thank you for being there in my hour of need! 5 out if 5, would buy again.

STORE: Great selection of board games and really any kind of game. Customer Service is off the chain the best. Even if you think you want to browse ALWAYS take them up on helping you find something.
RESTAURANT: Great environment, friendly just-the-right-amount-of-attention service, mead is quite good, selection of food is also great.
Keith Trnka
Love this place - you can grab a drink, some food, and borrow a board game from next door.
Connor Garrett
One of the best card game stores I've been to. Friendly staff at events, great custom curation of decks, and a huge stock of cards. There's a reason this is the store on the ad cards that come in Magic boosters.
Travis Holt
I love this place so much I had only been in Seattle for 6 days at the time of this post and I had already been there 3 days of the six . There workers, facility, and positivity makes them all amazing . I can't wait to come back the next day and the day after that till they get sick of me .
Mindy Lipetzky
Great selection of all kinds of gaming product. Lots of board games, lots of wargaming, and they even sell a large assortment of rare-earth magnets. Cafe inside, but depending on the time, it can be really hard to get a seat
B Michelle Johnson
Love this place! Great staff that can recommend new games (or just what you're looking for), you check out games to try out, get new ideas. Plus you can enjoy a beer at the bar.
Matthew Robinson
I love this place, has been around for a long time and is always a great time. Good food, reasonable prices, and a HUGE game selection. Perfect for a date night or a group hangout.

Card Kingdom is the best game shop I've been in my whole life. Typically, a game shop is filthy with equally filthy staff. Card Kingdom breaks that stereotype of mine with a clean store, stylish decor, and friendly, helpful, clean staff. They have every type of game imaginable, and they have a wide variety of games behind the desk that you try out in one of the tables in the store, or even in Cafe Mox next door. And for non-gamers, there's a room dedicated to puzzles, and another room for family style games. On top of all of that, they have two private rooms that you can rent out for an hourly fee (the fee is waived if your group spends at least $100 in the cafe). I heart Card Kingdom.
EE Stewart
You can borrow a game, take it to the connected café, play the game while enjoying a snack and a beer and then if you love the game you can ask for a discount from your server. Take that coupon back to Card Kingdom and save a couple bucks on the game you just played. This place is absolutely amazing!!
Brent Woo
At first I was annoyed at how nice everyone was. They wanna know how's your day, what you're playing, what you like. If you answer a couple questions, they're sure to point you to a game you didn't even know existed.
I wasn't even searching for a Mom's Day present, but one time I came in and after a little chat, they pointed me to the card game based on Pride and Prejudice. My mom's gonna love it.
Ian Stanfield
Card games + beer is an amazing invention. You have got to make a reservation though, well in advance. If you are bringing any reasonable amount of people you are probably in for an hour wait time or longer.
Samuel Fisher
They almost certainly have what you are looking for, food is decent and I always have a beer when I stop in. My chief complaint is it lacks the FLGS feel. It's crowded and difficult to maneuver once all the gamers have settled in but I imagine that's a great problem to have.
D.J. Taylor
Little pricey but I had fun there. Wish there were more board game friendly places like this.
Chris Spurlock
Finally paid a visit to the OG Ballard location (I frequent the Bellevue location as I live nearby) and while it might not be as large it was just as fun. They have a large selection of games to borrow for free, plenty of helpful staff, and of course many tables at which to play games.
The restaurant was good and I was surprised to find that they had different food from the one in Bellevue but it was still very tasty and the service was pretty good considering how busy the place was. Parking here was a bit of a challenge, but when I did find a place it was free.
Seba I. D.
This is a great place to go with friends or family. I go with my kid and we play a lot. People is great
Aaron Robles
Biggest selection of games and magic cards I know of. Friendly staff, great hours and an inviting atmosphere. The cherry on top is that Mox is a good bar / cafe as well serving hermiker coffee and a decent cocktail list.
Joey Kolber
My favorite place to buy games in Seattle. They have a fantastic selection and cafe Mox is right next door. Great playing areas for people to gather. Also very well organized to find exactly what you're looking for, or even what you didn't know you were looking for.
Matthew Reid
Probably one of the best, if not the best place to pick up MTG singles online! Live in Canada and still choose these guys, over anyone else!
Unbeatable selection, extremely helpful staff and good prices! Highly recommend.
Kendyl Daniels
A game lover’s paradise! So many different games to choose from and super knowledgeable staff eager to help you find something just right.
David Curry
The service and coffe were both fantastic

This place is awesome. One of the first game cafe type places I went to (yes, the shop and the cafe are attached! You can rent games for free and play them while you eat-- the store staff will even act as game sommeliers, offering suggestions based on time range, party size, and type of gameplay desired. They have a wide variety of games.
Jessica Turner
Great board game store! Can play all the games first. Staff is super knowledgeable. Connected to a small restaurant w good food, so you can play and eat
Zagadka
Love board games and good food? Stop by and enjoy!
CB
What's not to like. Beer, wine, good food and tons of games to buy or borrow. Fantastic!
Chyotsuba Koiwai
Great vibe, lots of games to play for free! You can enjoy the games what you are interested in first, and then if you like it, you can buy it right away! Separate sections for each genre and there’s a place aside to chill and have some foods & drinks while playing. Literally, you can enjoy games drinking beer and having nachos. I forgot to take pic, but they also have drinks such as beer, wine, coffee and non-alcoholic beverages. This is the best place I’ve ever been! I will definitely go again having fun with my friends.
Andrew Bennett
Super friendly staff and they have a huge selection of single mtg cards. Having a nice resturant right next to the gaming area is a great idea!
Julian Egolf
Fun place to spend the afternoon. Lots of free-to-play games, no pressure to buy, and helpful recommendations from the staff. We discovered and bought a new game, and we will be returning soon.
Nate Scheidler
I have been to Mox several times. Great food, amazing staff, marvelous energy. No surprise it’s frequently crowded by awesome people. Was super happy to find a table playing our game Hellapagos on this visit!
Tifa
The food here is wicked good, and being able to play boardgames while you dine is a uniquely fantastic experience!
Aika Mitchell
Really really cool! The fact that you can place pick-up orders for singles via computers they have in-store is genius. Really nice people, and the place is bright and spacious. I can understand why playing here would be so much fun!
hermione g
Very fun. Amazing grilled cheese. A little slow to get a seat but due to the nature of the place it made sense. Awesome board games and RP supplies
Sarah Whitson
Great game selection! You can check out demo games for free to play in the store, AND they have a decent food and beverage selection, including adult beverages!!
Jen Yonit Diaz
Fun places to go with friends either to bring your own game or borrow one on hand. The staff is super helpful and knowledgeable.
Brooke Callen
It's a fun family place or meet up with friends. A little pricey for food quality, but if you want to try new games without buying it's good for food and gaming.
Soren Ludwig
Ignoring the fact that parking in Ballard is a nightmare, this place is amazing. Walking into Card Kingdom/Cafe Mox for the first time was like walking into a candy store as a child. It is hard not to walk out of that place without a boardgame or twelve.
You can get food and drink nextdoor, borrow a board game to play, play in tournaments and events, and browse a vast library of games.
However this store is small and the amount of people who want to visit it are large. I recommend going at off hours to avoid an onslaught of people. The food isn't as good as their sister location's (Mox Boarding House), so if you don't plan to play a game and eat, I'd recommend eating anywhere else in Ballard.
Lauren Hengtgen
Great food, great drinks, crazy big selection of games to play and very helpful staff
Tegan Garland
Overall fantastic. Excellent selection of games, they have a small restaurant where you can borrow a classic and current games and play while you eat. Staff is super friendly and engaged.
Luke S
Very fun atmosphere to play games while you eat. Would definitely go again.
Kel Drake-Sargent
Fun place. Great bar food. Hard to get parking/seating, so be prepared for long waits.
Katherine Cross
One of the best places for tabletop, RPG, and wargaming in Seattle. With a wide selection and friendly staff, it's ideal for both neophytes and gaming veterans. The café is a great place to game and enjoy a tipple.

Great place. I wish they had more seating options during high volume times, and had a system to keep their games they lend out for free more intact. It's frustrating to get a game set up and realize important peices are missing.
Really friendly staff.
Paul Lee
Greta store but terrible parking 90% of the time during peak hours
Morgan Jones
I had a wonderful time here. The assortment of games was cool and I liked the food that was offered, although limited. I especially appreciated how helpful and nice the staff were.
Riza Ali
They have a huge selection of games for you to play but I would not recommend coming here for a sit down meal as the food is very pricey; however, the portion sizes are fairly large. There might be a wait too so come before you're really hungry
Abhro Pal
Fantastic place for board game enthusiasts. The food is decent. Great selection of games.
Bill Preusser
Possibly the best planned Game Store I have ever seen. Expansive store, lots of selection, and knowledgeable staff are just the start of your experience here. Includes a cafe for your eating and drinking needs.
J “235711” T
You can play all kinds of games here. There's no sales pressure and the staff are helpful with recommendations and answers to all kinds of product questions. The degree to which they promote game playing is a service to the community.
Tiffany Chou
So fun! Came here with my workplace team for some team bonding. The food is pretty delicious, and they have every board game imaginable. It's a great place to go to hang out with friends, for sure.
Megan F
Great service, friendly staff, board game library you can borrow to play during dinner. Food is good but nothing to write home about, decent selection of beer and wine.
Trygg Monson
Great place to buy or play games. Huge selection coupled with knowledgable staff makes this a great store. Lots of play space for various tabletop or boardgames.
Michael Luben
Was here for a bachelor party and it just to me back to my good old days when I spent time playing games with friends. They have it all; card games, table tops, strategy, toys, tons of stuff I don't even know about. I wish we had a place like this where I live. It really reignited my love of these types of games.
Elizabeth Valdez-Burgess
They have a fantastic selection of all different types of games. We did not go into the restaurant part, but are planning on coming back so that we can.
Mari M
Second time I've been to a cafe Mox and honestly from the courteous staff to the artistic atmosphere to the good food, I will always recommend this place. Always feel welcomed playing a new game or trying a different ale.
Javan Wang
Great if you love board games, they don't charge cover to play. Food/drinks are nothing special compared to other options in the area.
Tiny Tiger
Always good food and a nice place to play a few games!!
David Berryman
Way cool store! I wish we had one where I live. The folks were super friendly and helpful. They truly made me feel welcome.
Martin Wozniewicz
Amazing decor and atmosphere, good food and drinks, and free board game rentals!! They frequently run events as well, or come here for a whole day on the weekend with friends
J
I went here for a company event. This is a restaurant / café that has board games for purchase and free rent. The acoustics aren't the best, so it can get quite noisy. The food is actually pretty good.
