Reviews of Metsker Maps of Seattle
Heaven on Earth for me! This store has so much to offer: travel guides, travel books, geography books, pamphlets, brochures, journals, bags, charms, and most importantly.. maps! 🗺️📚 The staff are so informative, helpful and generous. I love coming here! ♥️🛍️🏙️ …
I love maps, and I love this map store. You can find different maps from anywhere, even celestial and nautical maps. This was my second visit here, the first was six years ago when I bought a 1925 Seattle map that still hangs framed in my bedroom. I made sure to support this place again! The employees were friendly and nice to talk to. Really, make sure you stop at this store when you're near the market!
Such a cool place to find maps of all kinds! They have adventure books, pocket maps, wall maps, and the really cool relief maps. Prices were not as expensive as you would expect. Would definitely come here again.
Came here looking for a Cascadia flag to add to my collection. Was not disappointed. Great selection of flags, badges and maps for everything a vexillologist or map freak might need. I also love the wide selection of books and globes in stock. The staff is really nice as well, and the store takes cash.
We saw a music world map in the display window and immediately fell in love with it. Purchased it without a hesitate and it is a great gift for my son.
One of my new favorite stores around the world. They have so many great maps, it’s over stimulating for a map lover. Will definitely be back, and have been inspired to make some new wood map designs after seeing the ones in their store!
Maps and old maps and prints and books and giftware and globes! Could’ve poked around in there for an hour or more!
Oh my god! I just fell in love with this place. It has maps to offer in every possibility you can think of. It is heaven for map lovers.
You can also buy so many cute gifts and souvenirs from this place
Wonderful service, great products..one of my best retail experiences. Thank you, everyone, at Metskers Maps of Seattle.
Shop local!!🎄 …
Very helpful staff + quite a selection !
Amazing stuff, super interesting if you are into mas, history or just want to make an original gift. Don't expect anything low cost though. Attention is really great and everyone is very nice
Hands down one of the best stores at Pike Place, if you like maps and travel. Maps and books that range from historic to contemporary, to whimsical to funny. A great place to browse on a rainy day too!
When’s the last time you looked at a paper map? Mine was at Metsker Maps. Super random store full of delightful geography related items, like maps, books about maps, flags, globes, etc. Charming specialty store in which to spend a half hour break from all the eating you’ve done in Pike Place Market so far.
By far the coolest store I have ever been in. They have maps of everything one could imagine.
Fun and interesting. Could have spent hours here.
Amazing selection and staff is very knowledgeable and professional. Ordered 3 globes and knew we would have to wait a bit for them to arrive. We were kept up to date on the progress of arrival time and appreciated their service. Globes arrived, picked them up conveniently out front and can’t wait to give to our kids! Highly recommend!!
Really interesting store, and the staff there were very friendly and ready to help. It was kinda hard to find due to Pikes Place Market being large and it was also not super good for handicapped people.
Ok! If you love maps as much as I do, this is THE place for you. All thing maps, globes, travel books, puzzles, poster, stickers, and even pins to mark your travels can be found here. Plus the folks here have a great sense of humor! As soon as I said I was a map nerd, they said: “we close at 6pm” 😂🤣😂🤣 I wax there at noon. And he was right, I could spend all day here. I got more than I needed and got the hill out before I bought more! This is a must stop on your Seattle market tour if you love maps!!!
Metsker Maps has been my favorite place to stop in Seattle for years. Its become a bit of a tradition. Anytime I am walking around Seattle I have to stop in and pick something up. What can I say....I love maps lol. Huge selection. Staff is great. So many interesting things to look at. So many great books.
Lovely store and owners. If you love maps or geography, make sure to visit.
If you love maps, languages, flags, and books, you'll be in heaven at Metsker Maps, just outside of Pike Place Market. They also have music- and vexillology-related trivia cards (games, basically). The book selection is pretty awesome. I bought a book on the history of African civilizations. It's map-based, so it'll complement my text-heavy ones that I really need visual help with. I also bought The Atlas of Disease as a present (which was much appreciated).
I saw a lot of great takes on historical charts and on the world map, but I wonder if they have more variety than they display. (I saw a south-up world map on the wall, but I already have one that's area-accurate [to the extent possible]. I didn't notice any of those projections displayed. (Perhaps someone can correct me.)
Anyway... really fun store!
Large variety of maps here for all sorts of adventures. The staff were very helpful. Was able to find charts for a kayak trip in the San Juan's with there help.
Fascinating shop, really friendly staff, I could spend hours here, but the polite thing to do is buy something (which we did) and take it home, not use the place like library.
amazing map shops, it's like a map museum. Super cool!
Everyone should check this spot out. Lots of maps, historic ones and relevant ones. It's even fun just to walk in and see all the unique maps on the walls. The staff is super friendly and very helpful.
I saw a picture of pnw trees in the window and popped in. What a treat! If you're a fan of maps and\or history, this is a must stop for you!
I love maps and Metsker has all kinds - from books to wooden 3D and from ancient to modern. Check it out!
This is a treasure trove of a shop for maps , guides, art and travel books. Always visit in Seattle
Wonderful selection and beautiful store!
Great selection of travel books and maps.
Fantastic map shop. They got all the cool stuff in the store, also very photogenic if you’re into photography
As a GIS Professional, and a career mapsmith, Metsker's IS THE PLACE. The library, the temple. The only place in the United States next to a USGS Map room that has EVERYTHING. A must see and mandatory stop if you are in the area for anything related to spatial awareness, geographic knowledge and of course map art. YOU guys rock so hard dont ever change!!! All love from The aerial firefighters and wildfire mappers of California!
I stumbled into this place during a weekend trip to Seattle, and it is heaven! Very cool store! Great for geography nerds or just people who love travel! I purchased a map, and they were able to ship it to me. Everything was super easy, and the employees couldn’t have been more accommodating! 👍 🌏 …
Amazing shop. With so much shopping being online these days it’s not every day you find a store specializing in maps that provides such friendly, knowledgeable and helpful service.
They offer lamination for waterproofing printed maps for a very small fee (~$5). They carry not only National Geographic but more up-to-date green trails maps and others for any park or trail in the PNW and beyond. They got you covered for any and all your mapping needs including protective sleeves to keep your maps in good shape while hiking.
Everyone here is amazing! If you need a map for pretty much anything, they have it! Do not miss this place when you visit pike place! It's definitely a must see if you're here. And it's always good to check it out every once and a while if you live here, they always have exciting new things!
Loved walking through this place! They have maps and art plank mounted, reasonable prices too.
Fabulous, well-curated shop...not just maps, but also educational charts, travel guides, art prints... anything with a sense of place. Lots of cool kids' items. Great customer service, as well.
#ExcellentEducationalTools #WhiteJack888 #SiliconCarbideValley 👑🏔️🇺🇲🎉 …
Awesome place. Lots of good books on road trips, travel and Seattle. And of course lots of maps (: A geek’s paradise!
What a fun and unique shop this was. This store has all the maps that you can think of! People at the front are very helpful and will show you how to look at the maps before buying. They also have a great selection of travel books which fits great into their theme. They're located right next to Pike's Market so stop by if you're there.
I’ve been coming here for 31 years, and it’s still my favorite store in all of Seattle. My grandfather (who had been frequenting Metsker Maps since 1950, when it opened) introduced me to the shop when I was a kid. I have fond memories of flipping through the vast catalogues of technical sailing charts and mountaineering guides with him, and perusing the travel guide section; dreaming of adventures in the Pacific Northwest and faraway lands. I stop by about once a month to buy a map, book or journal and remember my grandfather. Never disappoints and always inspires :)
This is one of my favorite landmarks in the city. They carry maps of all kinds, from geological maps of Washington State to a fantasy map of Middle Earth to maps of the Tree of Life. They also carry books and atlases and globes of all kinds. The historical maps of different cities in the world are wonderful, and there's a book you can order from if they don't have it in stock at the time.
It is a little easy to walk by their shop with all the din of Pike Place. I knew about it and still couldn't find their shop. You need to be on the street level outside to find it, but when you do it is a delightful hidden gem
This amazingly unique shop is a must next time you are around Pike place market.
It's really difficult to explain the variety of Maps, different kind of globe miniature, travel information ranging from small town to constellation (not kidding).
Also, the staff is really helpful, and there are some really nice souvenos items for someone who loves travelling and learning about new places.
Wonderful store! I was able to find hiking maps for national parks in the US that REI and a regular bookstore don't have. They have all of the mountaineers hiking books- it's nice to have all of them in one place. I'll be coming here from now on when I need travel books. I also found a cute stake l Seattle nightlight from a local craftsperson
Great store and staff! It’s a place to spend time in and get lost in the maps and other amazing merchandise!
As a lover of geography, cartography, maps, travel, and books, THIS PLACE IS A DREAM COME TRUE!
What a great store. Just moved to the area and was exploring downtown for the first time and what a great find. If you like maps as I do you will love this store. They have an incredible selection of maps that you might want to have as wall art or for actual use. As more people use GPS I sometimes worry that maps will go out of use, but there is something to be said about actually seeing and reading a large wall map. I felt bad that I didn't buy anything there because I want to support the store, but the item I wanted was a little out of my price range. I will be back though, it's more like a museum then a retail outlet.
Great store and excellent service!
We've been looking around for a Seattle street map that had good detail but was artistic enough to hang on a wall. Within five minutes of walking into Metsker Maps, the staff had located the perfect map for us. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly.
What a hidden gem!
Found some great artistic pieces and historical pieces. The crew really knows there stuff !
This is a must visit on any Seattle Trip!!!
They didn’t have the size I wanted of a certain map and ordered it to ship
direct !
It is my one absolute must-stop location in Seattle when I visit family. Awesome place for map-nerds, as well as those who want a great selection of travel guides for Seattle and just about any other place you can think of. Great for gifts for the geography/history buff in the family (like me).
Amazing shop with every kind of map you can imagine. Friendly and helpful staff. They opened up several maps so we could see them laid out and compare before making a selection.
Excellent selection of maps and travel -related books and art.
Metsker Maps is an extraordinary store. Such a warm and helpful vibe. Run by people who love cartography, travel and well organized information. A treasure trove of gifts, books, maps, charts. Great curiosities and tools to inspire younger and older minds.
I love maps! Since the pandemic, I’ve been ordering hiking maps from Metskers instead of going to REI or Sports Emporium. Getting them shipped within Seattle takes a day or two so it’s super convenient when I’m doing my trip planning during the week. I’ve called them with questions and to double check stock, even ordered a new NW Forest Pass. They are great! Even when the pandemic is over, I’ll still order like this since it saves so much time. It also feels good to support a local, small business.
Cool shop for just browsing, although I came in to find specific backcountry maps of Oregon. The employees were extremely helpful and you could tell they were very knowledgeable about all kinds of maps. Not just a tourist/trinket store.
I love visiting this store. I'm here at least a couple times a month. They have a great selection of maps and other travel related material. I especially like being able to talk here to get my Green trails maps for hiking.
The store has all kinds if maps/map related history stiff imaginable!!
Metsker Maps is one of my favorite shops in Seattle. Tons of corners to wander around, with a range of products appealing to both amateur and professional map fanatics. Shop owners are helpful and the store is clean and well-organized. Worth a stop!
My absolute favorite store in Seattle. Staff is friendly. Lots of mountain pictures and maps. Love this place.
I work with maps often for work, this store is fantastic and has many interesting and useful representations of place!
Really cool map and travel guide store
A great selection of all things cartographic! Are you traveling near or far? They've got every guide you can ask for. Language phrasebooks for muddling about in a foreign land? Ja! Oui! Sí! Да! نعم! Want a globe or decorative map for the home? All shapes, sizes, and types! Hiking maps? Check! Plug convertors for going abroad? Every style!
Lovely staff, excellent shop. I hope it's around for years to come!
Incredible store. I'm glad it's not in my hometown, I'd go broke. Good for travelers, map lovers, and generalist nerds. Books, maps, globes and accessories. I'm in love.
Such an interesting place to browse the books and maps for the intrepid traveller in all of us 🇺🇸 …
The owners are always friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. They have everything plus the most recherché maps or posters you can ever think of.
A very quirky place!
Incredible gem for someone who loves travel, maps or geography/history. Great idea for gifts!
Very helpful staff. I was able to decide and purchase a large laminated map of the state of Washington and it helped to have a wide variety of maps right there to examine side-by-side. Way better than trying to decide by viewing maps online.
Amazing shop where you can find beautiful maps and lots of travel books. I could spend hours in a shop like this !! Unfortunately, as we were travelers, we did not have enough room to buy some maps for our house :)
Great selection of maps of Seattle, Washington state, and all over the globe. This was our favorite specialty shop we visited in Seattle.
The BEST map and travel store in Seattle. Especially good for NW maps, travel guides and information.
A store I didn't mind getting myself lost in. The maps, the books, the little knick knacks were all so fun to see and go through. Must stop by when you're in downtown Seattle!
What an incredible store! Amazing to browse and full of good books.
Great and comprehensive collection of maps, and other aids to navigation of Seattle, the Pacific North West and the World. Very helpful staff. Fun to shop and browse in.
I picked up some USGS 7.5 minute maps for a last-minute Mountaineers Navigation class. There's also travel guides, unique memorabilia, cool poster guides, etc.
Super helpful and knowledgeable. Awesome store. Had my map shipped to my house painlessly.
I love this little map shop, I can spend way too much money here! Great selection and always happy to order something if they don't stock it.
Always a great map shop with fantastic books and gift choices based around travel, geography, and local history.

Really neat shop with a great selection and super nice staff! Found some great souvenirs from my trip here.
Favorite store in Seattle. Awesome souvenirs, puzzles, maps (obviously), books, etc! Decor is sweet, too! A MUST if visiting Seattle!!
In addition to the plethora of maps, Metsker is a convenient place to pick up Northwest Forest or Discover Pass in the downtown area. Friendly and attentive staff!
Because I know you will with an open mind take interest in this days in a year 365 jewish 360 rotation around sun it makes a difference if north is 360 on a compass -2 1/2 360 + 2 1/2 and you Don t on w s e were you to calculate that north is 160° and south 320° with out any verification of 15 or 32 2 1/2 how much of a difference would that make on the elepictal or the curvature of the heaven or the space between the ground over the sea and sky would their be one alfred lee morrow
I'm a big fan of maps, and this is one of the coolest establishments I've ever been to. Knowledgeable staff and a great selection of maps from all around the world.
We found this fantastic shop by chance. What a great surprise!! It is a really cool place and I bought myself a great print.
I always enjoy walking around and looking at their huge selection of maps. If you're looking for something you can't find, the staff are friendly and will try to help you locate a store that has that special, rare object you're looking for.
Another Seattle landmark, although sad they moved from pioneer square. Amazing staff, and maps of all kinds for miles. I could spend hours here browsing

If it is maps you want, this is the place. They also have all kinds of geography and cartography things. This is not a quick in and out place with all the things there to distract you. So spend time or stay focused
Love this place - it has maps. You probably didn't expect that, but it does! From literally everywhere. Or of literally everywhere, I guess. I get confused. The ginger beer, you know.
