Good space. Lots of space for floppies, which to be honest I'm not really into. That said, there is a good balance of big publishers to indie, underground, and even local artists, which is so important. I almost wish the big names were culled even more to make more room for a deeper selection of indie and local works, but there's still plenty of stuff to find. Seems like a spot for a monthly pull box and the occasional random thing, but a good spot for that.

Awesome store that I just discovered. If you are looking for both new or old back issues this is the place. Probably the only comic book shop in history that doesn't mark up every single back issue by $5-15/each. They either have it at sticker price or a $0.50 markup. Love it.

If you’re in Philly or happen to be near Moore College of Art & Design, stop by Fat Jack’s. There is a lot to see and sift through that is definitely worth checking out. It’s spacious for good measure because the amount of comics ready to be looked over is astonishing. There should be no reason to not be excited to find that one or ten comics to be added to a collection. The quirkiness of this establishment is that it blends both modern and older comics together. This allows new comers and veterans to share a special experience of exposure and curiosity. What’s fun about here is that it doesn’t shy away from what people are looking for. How? Well, they have an adult section specifically labeled for adults only and keep it separated a good distance away from the kids section. The great aspect of this place is that there are labels that help navigate where you want to look into. If you’re not sure where to begin, a staff member will happily help you. Jack’s has a lot to offer and if interested you may find what you can’t find online.

Classic Comic Shop, they don't make 'em like this anymore. I've been in the shop dozens of times and seen several different staff. This place seems to hire only the quintessential comic book guys to man the front, by which I mean somehow they're both shy and standoffish. Often someone will be seated by the dollar bins - great dollar bins, by the way, with a huge selection of back issues - these two employees will talk. But they will not interact with you. It's likely different for regulars or those with pull lists, maybe I'm not in the club? Its difficult to describe how unwelcome the atmosphere of this store is. As a lifelong geek I understand and sometimes appreciate that this spot isn't Atomic Comics or a more open, corporate -feeling shop. However, there's just weird vibes about the place that make me feel I should hurry on and not browse too long or have a question. Great back issues though, and one of the only comic shops in the area. Just the standoffish staff..mvery much feels like they wouldn't let you use the bathroom unless you buy a Krusty Burger comic first.

This is my favorite comic shop in Philadelphia! It is a great spot to go hunting for back issues to fill out your collection. They are well organized, packaged carefully and priced at fair market value. I always find what I go in search of and often a few gems I didn't even know I wanted. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, but my favorite "employee" is this really cool cat that gives off the vibe like it is the one actually running things. You can expect a consistently great experience at Fat Jack's Comicrypt!

This place is magic, it's been around since 1976. Their crypt of comics is astounding. I found (with the help of super cool staff) 3 treasures I had been looking for for years and years. I asked for a recommendation and was really blown away by a comic I had never heard of with beautiful art. I bought it on the spot. All in all really one of my favorite experiences at a comic store after 43 years of collecting!!!

Love this place! They have a good mainstream trade selection and this is my go-to place for regular comics. Everything is organized well and easy to find. The employees are friendly and helpful but don't hover over you and generally let you do your own thing. My favorite part of this place, aside from the shop cats, are the stacks in the back. Lots to go through, the deepest stacks in Philadelphia. I wish they were open on Mondays but oh well. Sometimes Long in the Tooth down the block has comics too, so it's always a one-two punch for me.

It's a well-stocked and clean store with good energy. The problem: closes at 6p, just when folks are starting to get off work and have time to stop at a book store. If they started later in the day and remained open later, I'd buy books there more often. So would a lot of folks I think, and perhaps the business would be doing better; as it stands they may be closing soon. Hope not.

I went here to find some specific graphic novels. While they did not have a ton of more recent ones I was looking for, they had a nice collection of both popular and indie stuff (including works by local artists, which is always awesome!) This wasn't really the place for me, but it seems like an awesome spot for comic fans and people who are into the latest issues of ongoing series etc... and the people who worked there were very funny and helpful. If you're into comics in general I would recommend this place.

Before taking a recent trip to the Philadelphia area, I googled "Best Comic Book stores in Philadelphia" and this was the first place to pop up. The reviews left on here by other patrons doesn't justify the experience I had. This store had a very wide selection of back issues to go through and were reasonably priced. In the 45 minutes I spent in the store I seen one cat and it wasn't hefty at all. It wasn't hard to navigate through the store, but I did ask for help one time from a gentleman who was more then gladly to help and point me in the right direction. I ended up leaving with 7 books of stuff I couldn't find in my area, some of which I had been searching for awhile, and I even got a discount because my girlfriend had a birthday in the month of November. All in all, I had a great experience and will definitely be singing their praises when I get back home, and will definitely visit again when I'm back in the area.

When you find yourself on Sansom Street, be sure to visit Fat Jack's. I've been a gleeful visitor to this establishment ever since freshmen year of high schooleven earlier, during their brief stay in that crap-tastic area on 5th street. If you like comic books and graphic novels, Fat Jack's is your home away from home. There are some shops that treat customers like murder suspects, but never at Fat Jack's. Good service with employees that are knowledgeable, friendly, and respectable. Even the cats laying around the shop are friendly and engaging (please avoid stepping on tails). Their back issues are impressive, too. If you can't find what you're looking for, they'll gladly order it for you. Did I mention that they have good service? Overall, it's a great place to pick to keep current or get a blast from the past with each visit.

Fat Jack's has the second best comic selection in Philly (see my review for Ontario Street Comics). The store is laid out really nice, it was easy to find the new issues, but also easy to find the back issues. I LOVE that the back issues are in order, tagged and alphabetically sorted. They have a really great selection, but the one big flaw is the price. A lot of their back issues should be mark no more than $1.50 or $2, however the cheapest I saw was $3. I got a lot of these comics at flea markets and $1 bins at other comic stores. Their more valuable comics are also overpriced. If you are looking to fill a few gaps in your collection Fat Jack's will do the trick, but expect to pay a little bit more than you would elsewhere. Also, they have cats.

Always has newest selection on Wednesdays. Very knowledgeable staff that will bend over backwards to help find the comic you need, and has provided good recommendations for me in the past. Note: Cats wander around store, so be mindful of you have allergies.

I'm in town visiting and going to each comic book shop to check it out. This place was pretty cool it was easy to find the section you are looking for. There was a bit of a limited selection but they also had a section of cheaper tpb which I like. While there this awesome cat came up and was like "Hey man! First pet me, second can I help you find anything?" Issues I did have was that traffic was awful but that might have just been that day and a big problem for me was that there was no place to sit down. I have a bad leg and need to put it up. If I can relax a bit in your shop I can look around more and buy more. (Kitty get a star for sure)

With two very friendly kitties there to greet me- I was immediately taken back to my adolescence. The staff are helpful, and kind. I didn't feel awkward stopping in and browsing and even indulged in two old Thor comics. Hopefully I will have a chance to stop back in when my son is older so we can geek out together!

Great selection and friendly staff. If you're looking for a specific comic, this is probably your best bet in the city. A lot of really unusual trades and a few collectibles. Only problem is that they move single issues into the back issues section (at a higher price) as soon as a new issue comes out; many other stores keep a given issue out for 5-6 months before moving it into back issues.

Found a lot of great independent stuff you will not find in any other comic shop in the area. Love the cats. Only issue is practically no manga. Tried to get some Attack on Titan or One Punch Man and they had zero. Those two titles are about as mainstream as you can get.

THE philly comic shop, been around for over 40 years, a local legend... well stocked, with everything from comics, TPB's, books, magazines, action figures & statues, etc., and an extremely knowledgeable staff... and if you they dont have that particular issue or book you want in stock, they'll order it for you, toot sweet! Extensive, disorganized collection of back-issues dating back to the golden age. Browsing helps form a good aesthetic history of the medium. Staff sounds off about current events in fandom from the front of the store, alongside a reasonable collection of new releases. Boardgame and tabletop collection is poor, but sells hobbyist dice in a pinch.

I am always poping in a spare moment to peak through for a comic craving.
