i would like to start by saying, i am not a comic fanatic nor do i have much education on the topic but after this i will be finding a store near where i live. this was my first time in a comic book store and personally i really enjoy the marvel franchise and some of the DC movies. this just opened up a whole other world of characters, story lines, and just more of everything. when i walked in theres at least 10+ books filled with comics (i truly could've been there all day looking through them since there were so many but i will be coming back thats for sure) i did pick up one random comic and its super interesting to look through it. (hopefully that doesnt offend anyone but i want to collect them but also read and look through them) theres tons of collectables like jewelry and shirts and other random things that i could not find in other places. overall you can clearly tell i loved my experience as a first timer.

It is a great store with an amazing collection of collectable statues, pop figures, and comic books the staff was knowledgeable about their selection and i came out with great deals im definitely coming back to get more figures

You're going to find a little bit of everything, here. From current manga runs to highly sought-after out-of-print hardcovers. There is a kid's section, new releases (weekly, unless stated otherwise, and a LQBTQIA+ section, too. There is also a large selection of funko pops, posters, graded vintage comics for sale, action figures and figurines, as well. You'll find card holders and a section for Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic The Gathering, upfront.

Went there with my cousin to drive him. The minute I walked in I was greeted which is extremely rare. The store was packed with anything you can image for comics and figures. The beauty of it all was the X-men arcade cabinet in the back. When we got to the counter to pay was the best part……outstanding customer service. Had a chance to talk with the owner at the which was a great conversation. Places like this should be preserved. I wish I could give 6 stars.

A great comic book store with something for everyone. They have such a great variety for different age levels. We happened to walk in on free comic day (usually one day in month of May but this year was in August because of Covid) and they were so generous in how many comics they give away! They were also really friendly and knowledgeable - highly recommend.

I'd say the best place to get comics in the city! They have tons of events for the community, free give aways, you can also get notified when comics come in. They also buy comics, and sell other things related to comics. I go here for everything! Great people who work there also

They have a good selection of back issues. The pop culture statues and toys are pretty present and accounted for. I cant comment on the customer service as I only really checked out and didn't need help finding anything (Comic stores all have the same layouts so if you know one, you know all). The one issue I had was parking, its is near impossible on South Street, especially in this area. Be prepared to pay or walk. Otherwise its a pretty cool little store.

Visited one of my favorite comic shops. Great selection of popular and ongoing series. They have stuff for new comic book fans and those who have benn collecting for ages. They even have some back stock available for folks looking to fill in gaps. I do wish they had more LGBT & Adult centered comics but the fill the space they have to the brim with great stuff. I never leave empty handed.

Excellent, extremely helpful staff. Great store, even better selection. I found so many books I was interested in that I had to decide between them all which ones to get, and even then I ended up going with a recommendation by an employee. He was right. I'm still totally in love with and reading the graphic novel he recommended weeks later. This was not the first time I had been to this store, I used to go here all the time back when I was going to college in Philly. I loved this store, and South Street. Fantastic to see that it's still going strong!

I really enjoyed this shop, I am not an avid comic reader but I do enjoy them and this was a nice place. It is not a big space but I found the selection to be a good size. The employees that were there were very pleasant and helpful. I did not plan to stay and read just went in to browser around and came out with two comics. I had people with me and they were able to sit while I looked around. This is a nice find in the area and if ever visiting again and in that area I will be sure to stop back by.

Always like the merchandise. But honestly I feel the staff could be more inviting and welcoming. Over the years they truly seem to care less and less about being there. And honestly no one's forcing them too. Try to hire staff and management that are more friendly. Now this isn't the entire staff but a good majority.

I can't say it enough- I LOVE this shop. The selection of comics and other media is superb. There are tons of back issues and newer stuff but what makes this place standout is the amount of black and latino artists that are showcased. The staff is friendly and super passionate and just make the experience that much greater. My absolute favorite thing about this shop is the X-Men arcade game ...I mean, what more could you ask for?!

One of the nicest and coolest places. Friendly and clean. They help with recommendations and cater to YOUR taste instead of just pushing sales on you. They even have classic arcade cabinets to bring you back to a better time. The only issue (no pun intended) I had was their back issue section. It was so secluded and the variety wasn't great. The one guy who wears the punk clothes may seem like a jerk but he's not at all he's a nice duee, just a dry sense of humor and to the point when answering questions.

First time there (after my 2nd COVID shot) and wasn't sure what I was looking for, but glad I made a stop. I don't live nearby, so I needed to stop. Initially I planned to come by during Xmas for a Secret Santa gift, but it meets my own interests as well. Once I had an idea of what I wanted, it/they were not available, but that is understandable, especially during COVID. I came up with ideas once I knew what was available, but still wasn't sure they would stock it. I did walk off with an amazing Evangelion coffee table book, though. Yes, I understand the irony of putting it on my bookshelf. Malik (not sure of the spelling) did his best to work with a difficult(?) customer while I was there and I think he did a great job. I'll be back. I'd been meaning to visit and I was not disappointed. I am more on the anime/manga side of things rather than traditional comics, but there was a good offering. I was allowed to use a stool to use look at items (it's all alphabetical), which was nice. Probably a better store if you have an idea of what you want and what they stock, but I am happy with my experience overall.

Greatest comic book shop in not just Philly but in the multiverse......ok 3rd in the multiverse, Universe 32s variant has 2 floors and Marvel Vs Capcom 5 tournaments every month, you can't beat that.

Overpriced. I would give a 2 star but you have to give some credit with there location. They chose a good spot, when the only two other comic book shops of my knowledge are in deep South Philly and in Old City. It's manageable with their selection but everything that's not a single issue seems overpriced. Better to buy it online or somewhere else.

Probably the best comic shop in Philly, it has a wide assortment of comics, manga, and some awesome collectibles. The staff is always friendly and helpful, and I've met some awesome people there. The trading card section is a little small, but has been getting better recently. Overall it's just an awesome store!

i went there looking for manga, they have a lot of old stuff that is really rare. i got evangelion manga and started this new series called “dogs” one of the manga i got was damaged and was turning yellow a little bit. and was selling for retail price. i would go here if you want old mangas that are rare and hard to find. but don't expect any new gen ones.

I've been in town visiting and while here I've been hitting up every comic book shop I can. I've been to this place a bunch of times and it a good shop. It has a really big selection of stuff. Alot of Graphic novels and TPB. They have places to sit down but I found myself feeling rushed to find something so I could get out. One huge advantage of the place however is that they are open late which makes it nice if I want to go out later for a comic fix. Parking is a bit of an issue though. There is no free parking in the area and that is hoping you can find a spot to begin with.

This place is the BEST comic, game, collectible card game, board game, t-shirt, and toy store I have ever seen. It rivals or easily equals Midtown comics in Manhattan! The staff seen to know everything, they don't rush you or stall you, the selection is tremendous, there is a seating area in the front for special events, to sit and read your new purchase, place Magic or Pokemon, or just wait for your friends to finish shopping. They're are video games-- all comic related, vending machines for Japanese toys and small trinkets, and the hugest manga section I have ever seen. I picked up a t-shirt I had never seen anywhere! In fact the t-shirt selection send to grow every time I go! They always seem to have special events as well. Whenever a new movie comes out that is related to comics they give away tickets and have special events. Greatest place ever!

To me this is the best comic store in Philadelphia, so I'm biased. However, for purists, this place offers hundreds of comic and graphic novel options, and for arcade enthusiasts classics like "Street Fighter" and "X-Men" are playable here. Also the store is Black owned and if you want to support Black business look no further than "Atomic Comics."In addendum, this comic store always has a mixture of all kinds of people. And, often, someone at the counter knows a thing or two about what's hot and what's not (comic book wise).

If you can't find what you want at brave New world and don't feel up to digging through garden of earthly delights or Ontario then this is the place to go. They have an amazing selection of graphic novels, manga and new single issue comics but it just feels like this place should be in a mall between a hot topic and a Zumiez.
