Although the books weren't exactly half price, some were just dollars cheaper while others were definitely less than half, I love books. And a place where you can get books that are brand new or used is great! Though I don't recommend selling your classics here, I definitely recommend buying from here for those who love to read.

While most people go for the books, I love the selection of CDs and vinyl (old, new, reissues of LPs and 45s). Prices are usually fair, the racks are well organized and I rarely have any problem with playing back the record or CD. This particular trip I picked up a sealed 4-disc compilation, "Now 100 Hits: Forgotten 60s" for under. $10 and it's one of the most enjoyable music I've heard in a very long time. Most of the songs charted better overseas, such as "Lily the Pink" by Paul McCartney's brother's band, The Scaffold, and there are many wonderful gems across many styles of music. I'm so thankful they had this at a reasonable price.

I went several retailers looking for a specific book that didn't have it in stack and I would have to order. Saw Half Price books while driving to one and gave it a shot. Found said book at a 3rd of the price and several more that fit my needs. 4 for what been the price of one. Will definitely be back.

Hadn't been there in some time, felt it was considerably less organized within the different sections, almost appearing "haphazard" at times. Price points were also a higher, I know everything is going up including the expenses of a brick and mortar store... but with so many online sources that offer better prices ( even with postage) I know where I'll probably shop in the future.

One of the last bookstores around! Location is off of a main road making it easy to find. Selection was okay. Obviously as they resale books they are limited to what people sell, but overall no real complaints other than that I wish it was larger and had a bigger manga selection.

If you love books and you haven't visited Half Price Books you are missing out. They have a massive collection of new and used books in every category imaginable for half of what you would normally pay or less. They also have music, games and other media. Another great store I'd love to have in Lincoln but will gladly go visit every time I'm in Omaha.

This bookstore and more offers a great selection of books in good and better than good - some are new - for great prices. I love the clearance section where I have found many good recently published books for $2. It is clean and the staff is very helpful. I intend to sell some of my books there to relieve my overflowing bookshelves so I can buy more. They sell online so the stock is constantly turning over. Great concept! Glad they are here for us book lovers!

Update 3/23 masks are no longer mandatory while shopping. Covid policy: in store shopping allowed. Curbside pick up available. Masks must be worn entire time by all customers and staff. Surfaces are to be cleaned frequently. Nice store with very helpful staff. Store was clean and well laid out. I was specifically looking for 2 old books and 1 old CD and found all 3. The prices were very reasonable for used items in very good to excellent condition. I also took about 40 non-fiction, novel and reference type books to sell. The selling process was very efficient. Their policy is to buy the entire lot that you bring, for a set price rather than "Cherry picking". If your selling to raise cash, then first try the places that will pick out only the ones they want returning the bulk to you. My goal was to sell/ donate these books quickly, therefore I accepted their $15 offer for all items. Bottom line is the $15 was the value of a few of the items while the bulk had no monetary value to them at that time. Important to remember their stock rotates daily, according to what items are brought in, so the same books I brought in may fetch a different price another day.

We brought in some books to exchange. Ee figured out that they paid us .12 a book. Their books are about half price. I found some great books that were not 1/2 price and some that were more than 50% off. My son loves 1/2 priced books and that's why we go there. A lot of times I look the book up in Amazon and order it there for 75% off.

I go here to get an occasional cheap graphic novel or rpg book, but really, the selection overall is usually pretty good. Downsides: they tend to over price books listed as "out of print" (and very, very, liberally classify them that way when it doesn't actually increase the value of that book) and you will make SO MUCH MORE MONEY selling your books, well, pretty much anywhere else. Go local whenever you can over this place. All that said, the store is kept up nicely, the staff friendly, and the books organized and cheap.

Great quality books at great quality prices. For some reason staff continues to wear masks. Don't you wish that wasn't added on there. Love this place though.

I absolutely love this store. It got me back into reading books again. There is nothing like the feeling of having a physical book in your hand while your reading. The prices are truly amazing too. I purchased an entire series for less than $20. I am now a regular here. Also so many other cool stuff in the store too.

I needed the 4th volume of The Dark Tower series written by Stephen King, so I called Half Price Books. They not only had the book I wanted, but they also held it for me because I couldn't make it that day. They also had every additional book in that series, so I bought them all at a really fair price. I highly recommend this store! Great selection and prices as well as friendly and helpful staff. 10/10 will shop there again!

This place is an addiction. The rate for books you don't want isn't the best, but its a good way to get something for your stuff that's just sitting around. If you have a ton of books I would bring someone to help you because no one will help you with the front door and its a cluster. Love buying from here, they dont always have what I'm looking for but its better than buying new.

We went to Barnes and Noble last weekend. It was awful - packed full of people, couldn't find anything, the people were honestly not helpful at all. Ended up leaving without buying anything, while honestly understanding why they were losing locations. This weekend we got to come here (it was packed last weekend with a long line outside). Organized extremely well, easy to understand, great prices... I could easily see spending hours here. I'll definitely be back!

While I enjoy the selection, especially the selection on records- I do not enjoy the selling process. As a student I’ve brought in multiple textbooks and books to sell. I never had a problem with waiting for someone to price the books- I have never got anything from selling them. One time I was even told it was $1 for 3 textbooks on business. When I said “no that’s okay.” The staff offered to just take the books! I quickly said “no I’ll just take them with me” they looked disappointed. Would recommend- shopping Wouldn’t recommend- selling

Very reasonably priced items. Friendly staff. Well organized. I went in recently to sell some old college text books. I did feel like I was incredibly low balled. But while I was looking around it seems like their entire stock is low priced. Definitely worth checking out for anything books. Plus they've got a decent selection of child items such as flash cards, learning kits, old Disney VHS tapes and so on.

Each visit to this store is a new experience because the used inventory always changes. My son found a Pokémon book at a reasonable price. I opted for a history book about the 1935 assassination of Senator Huey Long and Life Magazines from 1967 and 1985 because I love seeing the old advertisements. They also had a good collection of personal fitness and travel books since I like nonfiction. A staff member was very helpful in pointing out which aisles had books and periodicals on our eclectic tastes.

I don't get to make it out to this one often, but when I do it's good times since the amount of material there is solid. I will say I was a bit bummed on the low amount of comics this time around, but I understand it's an eb and flow situation with what comes in. I look forward to my next trip there!

I've seen comments that this place is dirty. It's a store, if it's snowing or raining your going to have people tracking dirt in. They can keep cleaning behind every customer. Bathrooms are cleaned.

I enjoy coming to Half Price Books! Each and every staff member has always been helpful and kind. Most recently, I went looking for a classic book and it wasn't in the Center street store. So they ordered it for me and had it sent to my house with no extra cost. I'm assuming that is how they handle every customer. I was very pleased! I recommend going to Half Price Books!

I really love book stores - nothing else like them! The prices here are reasonable for what you are getting - although I would avoid the buy back counter because they don't offer much in the way of a return. Sad to see them offer 25¢ for a buy back to find the book on their shelves for sale at $5+. Never quite understood that level of miserliness. I do get the concept of brick and mortar expenses but WOW. Unfortunately, options in used book stores are extremely limited in most parts of the country - which is sad. The staff here are usually helpful and pleasant. Very happy that I NEVER get hassled while browsing - which, for me, could be half the day! The bathrooms are clean and the store is well kept. Movie and music options are pretty good - but it would be nice to see more classic options though. I don't particularly care for having to sit on the floor to browse the available music but I understand it maximizes selling space and there is usually a chair close by for those of us with bad knees. The aisles are nice and wide so I don't have to worry about bumping into other shoppers. Overall this is a nice place for an afternoon excursion.

GREAT SELECTION. Nothing better than a handsome old book. If you take the time to browse you can find some treasures in here. I've bought several large, valuable collections. When I need help browsing the high shelves the staff are patient and attentive. I always tell myself "I'm just going to look today", and end up spending $100 or more.

Tons of books in great condition and of course good prices. As with any place that buys from customers (such as gamestop) you won't get a good deal for the books you take there. But, at least it's better than throwing them away. So either donate them or take them here and maybe get enough back to buy a new book!

I love this location! I typically buy my used books online, but I now work on the same block as this store. They have deals (all the time) where you can get as much as 50% off one item, no restrictions. It does sometimes cost more than a used book online, but I highly recommend checking out the books they have by the checkout counters. Most of them are great books and they are priced as little as a couple dollars. I also visit here for the vinyl records. My only complaint is that they don't pay much when you sell to them. I brought in 5 vinyl records, 2 of which were limited edition colored vinyl and still sealed. They offered my $8 for them all! But my review here is mostly for the buying experience, which is great!

This place is a book lovers dream. The books really are half off what you would pay at a bookstore. They always have a really well stocked clearance section that has $1- $3 books that are still in great shape and are popular. It's very well organized by genre and they always are putting more out everyday. Side note- they do buy books from you but they don't pay well. For a whole series and a sequel series that were in great condition, about 14 books total, they paid me $3. You will need an valid ID when you try to sell your books.

I love going to Half Price Books. I really like looking at the records and the CDs. They also have good games and things for kids, but the CDs aren't usually shelved properly. There are quite a few albums in the wrong spots, and the books are shelved in a really weird order. It took me quite a bit of time to find what I was looking for.

Decent selection of books, offers a good value for the money. They don't have the newest books (obviously, they have older books because they resell at reasonable prices, depending on the book type). But they also have some newer books that definitely makes it a place to checkout. Somewhat disappointed they got rid of there floppy comic section and only have trades now, but I can understand why.

Great value! I can't speak to the issues others have regarding the business model of compensation for books brought in, but if you're looking at purchasing there's many great deals. A lot of it is the luck of the draw and whatever is available. They've recently expanded the footprint of the store and I've found the place very clean and well kept. It's always very busy, so clearly they're doing something right.

I like the fact that if I can't find what I am looking for in store they will check other locations. They will ship the item to the store or ship to your home. I believe if they ship to the store it is only 1.99 and if they ship to your home it is 3.99. Don't quote these figures until you double check them please. I love this store and will go back again and again. My experience today was challenging. I sold DVD's and magazines to them today and they gave me a smaller amt than I would like. Seems to happen with the same person and I questioned it. He said it was because the DVD's were scratched. I had to laugh. I said I had never heard that before and said I purchased them from you in that condition and they work just fine. I said this is Half Price Books used vs new. I told the gentleman I don't buy that excuse and that he needs to come up with a new one. Other than that experience all the employees are very pleasant.

Unfortunately it's one of only four or five options in town for books. Fortunately they have a great stock that is constantly refreshed. Found a lot of stuff on my hunting list there. Book buying staff is friendly and fast, and they deserve your patience on busy days. Remember this is a chain and they do not set the buy back prices.

I haven't been to Half Priced books in a few years but an acquaintance recently took a job there and recommended I pop in. I made a trip there today. Coincidently, I had a tub of IT-related reference books (Unix, Windows Server, Systems Admin, Web development) in the back of the car and decided to cart them in to have them give me an offer on them. While they examined my treasure trove of text books, I browsed around and picked up a handful of paperbacks & a Blu-ray movie. They have a good selection of used books, that's for sure. And plenty of movies at reasonable prices. I can't dispute that. And I give them props for friendly service. But their used book business is horribly inequitable. I figured they might offer me $10 to $20. I thought wrong. After 10 minutes or so they called me over to offer me ONE DOLLAR. I could have accepted "sorry, we can't take these books, they won't sell." or "We already have plenty of geeky computer books, we don't really need these." But offering someone a dollar for over a dozen reference books in excellent condition is insulting. It reminded me a lot of GameStop's horrible trade-in program. They bought your games back for a few bucks and then re-sold them at half or more of the original price. I get it, maybe no one wants aging IT reference books and I would give them away to someone who asked for them, but offering me a buck after I lugged them in seemed like a slap in the face. No thanks.

I adore this store! Not only are the employees SUPER friendly, but you can purchase gently used books/movies/audiobooks, etc.! They have something for everyone - manga, roleplaying books, comics, fiction, military, metaphysical...the list goes on and on. It's also a wonderful place to purchase small gifts. If you're not going to the library, then I certainly recommend this location.

I truly enjoy HPB as a shopper. Though I have noticed their DVD prices have gone up, but I am willing to pay the extra 1 or 2 dollars if it's something I've been looking for. As for selling DVDs to HPB I wouldn't recommend. HPB already gets a high influx of DVD's being sold to them, many of the same titles that everyone else is trying to get rid of. So they won't be able to give as much for them. The usual median norm for selling DVDs in general to any place is about 10-70 cents per DVD. This # can fluctuate up or down depending on many factors such as what movie, when it was manufactured, how common it is, demand of said item, and what they already have in stock. There are other places to sell DVDs in Omaha, I suggest you browse around and see what fits best for you.

This is an awesome store, with a lot of great items, and I intend to go back to grab a few discount books. However, be wary of selling your things here. The compensation is paltry, even if it is some quick cash. If you have the time, try selling video games/books online or at a garage sale, as you will likely get 4-6 times the amount you'll get here. They need to run a business, so it makes sense, but beware as a customer.

I love going to Half-price Books. They have a great selection and reasonable prices. So many topics and pretty great organization, do so you can often find exactly what you were looking for, or come in with an idea and find many things that may fit. I love the clearance DVDs and books and the parenting section, my husband gets lost browsing happily, and my daughter loves going to the toddler book and movie sections or picking out a stuffed animal.

I love the store I can find movies or TV series that I love. I have all ten seasons of Star Gate that i bought there. Prices are real reasonable . If you have some old movies you no longer want. They will take them alll and pay you for them. Huge selection of books and if it's not there they will call and get it sent to the store for you. People working there are helpful and friendly. Big plus for me is the dog welcome policy. My pugs love the store too. Take an hour and go relax in a great store.

I love this store. Whenever my family is in the mood to binge buy a huge pile of books, Half Price Books is always our first choice. The reason for the four stars: I wish they paid a tad more when buying used books, it's hard not to feel a bit like you got ripped off. On the other hand, try to get more for your used books anywhere else and you likely won't get a better return anywhere else. Plus they are local and the transaction is done immediately without shipping.

I love this store! You can spend hours there just looking at everything they have. I have a large family and I usually spend $100+ on books alone per visit. I wish they would incorporate some sort of rewards program like most businesses do. I mean, look... you're not get much for your stuff just face that. It's a bunch of books that you don't want anymore so get over it. They are also heavy so if you have any back problems, bring another person because everyone will just watch you struggle. And you might get a kind stranger to hold the door open for you a couple times, but don't count on any of the employees to help you in a timely fashion. And you can't leave while they look through your stuff so bring a beverage and plan on waiting for a bit. I had about 5 tubs of books, took an hour and half. And I only got 37 dollars. More than you'd make at a yard sale and more than you'd make giving them to goodwill. (Insert shrug emoji)

I absolutely love all the book and CD choices. You can easily find books for 5$ and maybe even less. If you can't find a specific book, ask one of the workers there and they'll help, or they'll offer to order it for you. I just love this place, you can turn in your books and CDs for money, although they don't offer very much for them. They have ordered books and secondhand books all together, but honestly, I can't really tell. The secondhand books are in some of the best conditions I've ever seen.

I loved this store! I stopped in on a whim, because I'm not from nebraska. I was like a kid in a candy store, and a bearded gentleman was very kind in helping me look for a particular book. They didn't have it, but he was still very patient. The store had another book I wanted anyway. Their prices are incredible! I found a book on spirits and hauntings from my childhood for eight dollars. I looked on amazon, and it is actually worth seventy nowadays. This whole store is awesome. A+

Great used book store with more to offer than just books. CD's, Records, DVD, and electronics are all included in their inventory as well. Instead of just tossing out your items, upcycle them - get a couple bucks for something that would have gone into the landfill, and make someone's day when they find a treasure you decided to part with. If you can't resist a good bookstore, HPB doesn't disappoint! There is a huge selection of books from a seemingly endless number of categories. There are also movie DVDs, music CDs, vinyl records, a variety of used board games, and an extensive children's book section inclusive of babies to teens. The vibe is modern with an air of wonder usually reserved for antique book stores. If you are environmentally conscious and you don't already own or live near a "Little Free Library," be sure to check out the book buyback program (though I find reimbursement prices are more a token of thanks than a windfall...which, in turn, keeps used book prices low).

Good place to get good price on used books, can find all kinds of books here along with games and movies. Parking can be a pain and it can get crowded fast but you will most likely find what you are looking for for a good price
