Reviews of Barnes & Noble at Rutgers
Very nice staff, this is one of nicest Barnes and nobles I have ever been to. The restrooms are clean, so many sections of books and my Starbucks drink was nice and flavorful . If I lived in New Jersey this would be my go to place for Starbucks.
The store is wonderful. The loss of two stars was because the cashier literally threw scanned merchandise into a bag. Apparel was not folded but worse, was that the ceramic coffee mug was dropped in the same way...even with the bag sitting on the counter.
Rutgers apparel choices have significantly improved since my last trip here 5 years ago. There are more tan, pink, mauve and other random colors to be found in addition to the traditional red and black. The logos on the shirts and mugs are also of a great variety. Most importantly, the sizes offered are from xs to xxl in most styles.
Rutgers apparel and merchandise take up the front half of the first floor. The cafe is the back half of the first floor. Clearance merchandise and children's is downstairs. Upstairs, via escalator or elevator, is where the books are located.
Used to be a place for homeless people but things have changed. The place has been cleaner and there are more tables on the 2nd floor.
Nice place to wait for a train.
Super helpful workers, study space, and a great selection of books, merch, textbooks, etc. All employees are super kind. The study spaces have computers you can use, and a lot of school supplies, anything you could need.
Staff is always nice, great choices at the cafe and everything is nicely organized. Great place to study and do homework.
Great spot for popular and classic novels. A lot of rugerts gear. Loved the clearance rack for books near the coffee shop. May not be the best place to study in a quiet area, but they do have some nice seating on the second floor.
I always find something that I wasn't looking for. Magical Place. This building is really Organized. I bet the Students love it!
Nice Barnes and Nobles with a Starbucks and several seating areas for reading and studying.
Great place to study, cute cafe inside. Best Rutgers gear
Nice book store to sit and enjoy some time and have a cup of coffee. Nice book collection, right next to the New Brunswick station, and in the Rutgers campus.
Great experience here! Staff is very friendly and helpful. Prices are higher but decent for a college bookstore/apparel store. The interior layout is pretty neat and everything is nice and organized. Store is very clean and nothing is really out of place.
Loved the book collection, gifts and Rutgers merchandise. Includes a cafe and study place.
This is a cool looking building with space inside to study and get some food. The apparel is overprice of course, if you want cheaper options for Rutgers apparel, I would recommend Ebay or Kohl’s. The staff is always helpful and friendly.
Its a nice bookshop that have everything...
I always visit this place , you can grab your coffee and sit and study, or read a book !
Love this place and miss hanging out here so much. Usually good reading/studying spot though no naps allowed.
There are three floors:
• Basement: textbooks and dorm gear. Typically gets crowded during the beginning of in person semesters
• First floor: Rutgers apparel and Starbucks cafe, some bestseller novels and hype books
• Second floor: the literature, kids section, bathrooms, and study space. This is also usually where events are held
Barnes and Noble is a lovely bookstore. I come here a couple of times a week to grab a hot cup of coffee in this cold winter , sit down enjoy it and read a book for a while.
It's so welcoming, friendly and peaceful. I see, get, a lot of smiles there, and I feel good and relaxed when I visit.I love it here :)
Beautiful, clean store with a Starbucks in it. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Chairs outside add a nice touch. College merchandise is sold there as well. When in the area, we will go back again. My 12 and 15 yr old liked it! Something for everyone!☺️
Came here during finals season and as a stressed out student all I wanted was some good food and drink and also quiet. Associate Casey helped me choose a drink and also a recommended a really awesome pretzel. She was so kind and patient as to help me narrow down my drink choices. Other associates throughout the store and cafe were all really helpful and friendly! Bathrooms were a little dirty but besides that, a great place to hang!
I only visited the Starbucks here after arriving back from New York. I love the layout of the the store, the place was very clean and organized. The area in which it was located is very convenient for travellers and Rutger's college students. I would recommend this Barnes and Noble.
Clean place. Good choice of snacks and coffee of course. Books and more. Always great Rutgers stuff.
Nice study area upstairs. Dont like some changes. No bathroom on main floor.
Very nice book store with plenty of selection without being too crowded, also have a Cafe and merchandise.
The book store is always amazing. Clean, quiet, lit, huge study area, computers and pastries. The Rutgers part is extremely high priced...I try to stick to just the books. (That Rutgers doesn't censor). Everyone I ran into was very nice and helpful. Their toy area has COOL TOYS.
It's an okay bookstore. I wish they had more comfortable seating and kicked out the loud people. The music is also very distracting; it's hard to read here. The textbooks are massively overpriced and I wish they had more variety. If you're looking for nonfiction the selection is dismal. The kid's section and the fiction section are large though.
Great customer service and professional staff members.
Went there today and purchased a bottle of Smartwater. Their freezer case wasn't working and all the beverages were warm. Yet they still charged $2.25 for a litter warm bottle of water. They should have offered a discount considering their freezer wasn't working.
Barnes and Noble Cafe is over priced and the food isn't that great as well as the small portion you receive for $5 and up.
A wonderful place for Rutger memorabilia and books of all kind. The staff was as helpful as can be and the area around it is really nice. On a different note, if you are buying textbooks from here, its easier if you are a Rutgers student as their inventory is limited to the classes of the current semester. If you are trying to buy a text book as a non Rutgers student the book might not be there.
Nice spot but sucks that their MacBooks stopped working. Its not that much of a tragedy though because thankfully I have phone service (somewhat) for now. But regardless its a nice spot. 3 floors and the top floor has a lot of seating and windows overlooking new Brunswick so you can do your homework, study, read, relax, keep shelter from the elements without having to worry about people being loud or rude. However, they are very strict with their hours and close fairly early on some days so make sure you check what time it is before you go. And to those wondering yes there is Wi-Fi... The sign is easy to miss but the Wi-Fi password for barnes and noble guest is free for all to use so i will go ahead and post it here for those that need to use it but do not see the sign on the 2nd floor help desk. Its : Welcome2Wifi (no spaces and the w's are capitalized)
Nice place. Used to patronize the place during my 2 years in New Brunswick. I agree that the apparel (first floor) is a bit expensive for an ordinary college student, but the stationery shop (in the basement-like downstairs) is okay and the reading place (second floor) is super-fine (provided u find a chair).
Entitled students working at Starbucks.... But, it's Rutgers so they have to make a living too it's not like they will be baristas their entire life. Humility and respect for the consumer go a long way though.
A great place to bring the kids on a Saturday. A good selection of children and YA reads. And a peaceful decorative children section. It has plenty of work space for students and anyone looking to study/work.
They have Komi-san, so it's pretty nice. Problem is I could buy the volumes on Amazon for cheaper.
They also don't price match.
Nice addition to rutgers. Peaceful and relaxing upstairs if you need to read, relax or get some work done. Good amount of seating. Gift shop and starbucks downstairs. Textbook and dorm items rental in basement
Their Rutgers University merchandise was overpriced. Even the items in the clearance section were priced high. I'm all for school spirit but there's no need to gouge people on RU paraphernalia. If the prices were lower they would make less profit per item but probably make it up in sales volume.
Quality products and tips on how to save on the cost of the item.
It's a Barnes and Noble with everything you've come to expect from them. One flaw: the location has alot of homeless people and they kind of use the study pods as a rest stop from the streets until the staff notices.
The ice cream and toppings r bery good bit they r so rigid and not flexible. They will not allow u 2 have 2 flavors in a cone no matter how much u r willing 2 pay. And they will not let you taste new flavors. Unlike any other ice cream places in the area
Keshav is a great cafe employee. Busy during semester but good overall. Can be hard to find a spot to study sometimes and they got rid of the cozy chairs to nap in
I love the clock outside this building it's spells Rutgers in two different directions. when I passed but I text my best bud it's u passed the r or t pass the e. And not 10:20 or 4:40.
I just had the smoothest, most helpful, and efficient phone call with a young woman working at this establishment. I am very impressed.
RUTGERS BOOKSTORE!!!! Gotta love this place. Great options for books, very organized. Tongs of Rutger merchandise. It's not only a beautiful location but a wonderful experience. College kids everywhere, but the respectable kind.
Good place to get coffee and a snack, sit down and do some work. Has a clean restroom upstairs. Excellent place to wait for the train.
I went there for.my.books I ended up not needing one and was able to return it ..I am still waiting for the refund but all together it was a quick and easy experience ..helpful staff!
My Starbucks coffee and cheese danish tasted absoLutely amazing! 😊 I love that I can get any size coffee and pastry for about $4.50 with my RUAA & facuLty ID!!💯👆 …
Great bookstore. Nice Cafe. Lots of room to work. Convenient location near train and Rutgers. Lots of Rutgers gear and more than just books.
I disagree with the poor reviews. I have been to several b and ns in nj and this one is run very well. The manager is very nice. She went out of her way to help me track down and order a very obscure book. Thank you!!!!!!
Love this Barnes and noble. Always had exactly what I need. Inside is a cafe that includes a lot of food and drink variation not just from Starbucks itself.
This place is great for all college textbooks and supplies. The employees are great and have toms of knowledge. College students can easily find the books as their are sections.
The bathrooms are very, very bad and the selection of books is embarrassingly small. However, they do have a frequent rotation for books on sale, and there is sufficient space for study sessions, meetings, etc.
Nice space, two stories, but most of the first floor is dedicated to selling apparel. Overall though it's clean and inviting.
A great place to wait for the train, especially since there's a screen with departing trains inside near the starbucks area, a bathroom upstairs, and lots of tables with plugs.
Awesome. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Thank you to the young lady who help me with the diploma frame.👏👏 …
Very comfy and clean place. Has a Starbuck, sells Rutgers apparel and college textbooks. Perfect place to study or just read a book. 📚 …
So if you are like ok wit ze supa unstylish hipsters working in ze kafe, zen zis is total ok establishment.
My favorit in ze kafe is ze thai chicken wrap, even zo it gave me ze poops isht still supa yummy!
Staff is friendly and helpful but prices are very high.
Only used this for Rutgers textbooks. They block internet access in the basement so you cant compare prices. Come knowing prices from renting from amazon so you can compare. Not the best deal.
The starbucks in there isn't the best either.
This is a College bookstore with apparel and food on the first floor and a small book section on the second floor. It's more like a Barnes & Noble franchise then a full traditional large Noble's bookstore.
This is a very nice book store. They have some sections for people to sit and read and they have good sales. I recommend it for students.
Excellent location, right near the stop, seating outside & inside, coffee n snacks and rutgers paraphernalia, like the place
Very nice. But clothing is expensive, could be more reasonable with prices. Especially for students, but great store...
Small stock but big space. Look forward to spending time inside here when it's safe
Great customer service and very clean establishment! I would highly recommend this store to anyone!
Nice place to study, usually not that crowded. There are many books and has a Starbucks downstairs.
Love the place and how it has a Starbucks right near by. My only one complaint is that they don't sell newspapers.
excellent baristas, candy snacks, full assortment of college books and plenty of usb/outlets for your techy needs
We went to Barnes & Noble at Rutgers it was nice place and hange out with my friends and teachers
A big book store with other accessories for student in the Rutgers University.
Amazing place to sit and work, especially for those who like low hum in the background. Plus had a Starbucks inside.
College textbook store where my husband gets his books. Parking is a little annoying if you are not familiar with area. Per website, they do validate if you park in deck and buy $10 worth of items.
I really enjoy walking into this store and kinda getting lost while trying to find a book that I may or may not end up buying
There's a Starbucks inside. It's calm and quiet. Its also very easy to find what your looking for..
It's a pretty good place for college textbooks as they have nearly every textbook. The only issue is that the prices are high, though the store price matches with textbooks.
Really great clothing, accessories, lots of variety.
Selection of books is impressive.
Summer term at Rutgers. Good food & service. Quiet, for now. A few hours, well spent.
.
Great assortment but I wonder how students can afford some of the apparel. Good for gifts and alumni pride.
Nice book store not as big as other ones I've been to
Great prices and adjacent another store with sales on Rutgers items with free parking
Wide range of book with cafeshop. Good combination. Arrangement of book display is nice.
The downside is there Mac computers are now not available for the public the upside is one day they were having a promotion for drawstring backpacks with the letter R on them
The service was great however the layout of the store was confusing, it wasn't clear where to check out and all, and the distinction of text book checkouts was confusing.
Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, very knowledgeable. Just a great store!!
Amazing store, has a good selection. Textbooks are pricey but that's how the market is right now.
A significant upgrade to the old Rutgers book store and Starbucks housed inside is forcing the other New Brunswick Starbucks to shape up it's business practices
Prices are a but high for merchandise they have, but a decent variety of products.
good place to study, shop and eat. centrally located on campus downtown
Really nice indoor and outdoor seating. Great place.
Cool place to buy stationery and grab a quick coffee and snacks.
I got there to study and it has a wide selection of books that relate to your field of studies
Serves as Rutgers bookstore but has a ton of apparel too. If you're in town for Rutgers game head here for a jersey or shirt
So peaceful and quiet!
It’s a great place to shop for kids books that is local.
Great store with super selection. Love to shop here.
Lots of space to browse, do quiet reading and good selection of books
You'll find almost every book you want in a pleasant atmosphere
Staff at Rutgers bookstore are very helpful.
Keep-up the great work guys ;)
A beautiful two story barnes and noble with a large built in cafe.
best place for a quick piss and a rendezvous after getting off the train
Helpful staff. Good size inventory in the store.
Cute, nice place to work and study, includes a Starbucks
Comfortable, clean, quiet enough to get your work done.
Great place to read a bit and have a snack.
The largest bookstore on a college campus, and it allows price-matching from other sources!
Good selection. A bit pricey.
I love this Barnes and nobles but I wish it was closed at a later time.
Being a Rutgers student, this place just glorifies the university. Awesome, but expensive
Fantastic RU store, wish it was here when I went there
No parking. Very congested but there’s not much they can do about that.
Very helpful employees make finding books a breeze.
Good store. Parking is a little less
Great Place to meet your friends for a good read
Love the Rutgers bookstore. Great finds for alumni!
Good place. The textbooks are expensive though. But it's textbooks.
GO RU!! What's better as a Rutgers fan.
Good variety for Rutgers. A nice place to study.
Still a decent selection besides textbooks
Long lines for textbook rentals/purchases but overall quick and efficient service
They have a decent selection of testing books.
Very cool place if your a student
Handy place to go when you get off the train
Great place to wait for the train, textbooks are ludicrously priced though
Excellent layout and organization, great resource for the college crowd.
Clean store, lots of Rutgers gear. Starbucks inside the store, clean restrooms upstairs.
No free WiFi but ok none the less
Great book store with friendly staff.
Great place for college apparel, Starbucks, and books.
This is focused on the local college - not a good general bookstore
Good Hostess & Food. Charging stations at the tables.
I love this place, whenever I’m in the area I stop by
Nice store but sorely understaffed.
My kind of Bookstore .... Very nice Atmosphere 🏙 …
Great atmosphere and selection of RU gear.
Pricey, won't let employees have tip jar
I don't know how to read but it has a starbucks.
Love going there. Always a pleasure
quick friendly service
Good to get books, school gear, chill, and coffee.
Calm and quiet. It's easy to find books.
Nice staff. Great location.
They need to be open later, you're literally on a college campus.
Great place to hang out and study or read
It's a place were I can still down n gather all my thoughts
The only vestibule in town for waiting to get picked up from the train.
Great place for studying or writing a paper.
