Great bookstore right by Barclay center. Great atmosphere, unbeatable book selection and variety. They have book clubs, community events...I was fortunate enough to attend one. They are very strict with covid precautions. Masks are mandatory here....be aware. If you forget to bring one, they will give you one though. I wasn't to fond of the bathroom. One bathroom/stall available that's locked and you have to ask staff to unlock it.

Independent book stores are a thing to be cherished in this day and age, and Greenlight does not disappoint! They have a large assortment of modern and classic selections. I really like that they highlight small publishers and local voices! A must-stop for anyone looking for their next favorite book.

I came into the store yesterday which was Sunday, 22 January, to sign three of my books. I am the author of “My Selma”. Brea met me and treated me with grace. So very nice are the people there. The store Is clean and well organized and everyone that I met had a smile on your face. This is my second time being in this bookstore and that was years ago with different people. The warmth is still there. Thank you all so much.

If I were a book, Greenlight Bookstore is how I'd imagine Book Heaven. It's not a big store but it is honestly one of the cleanest, most organized, most well maintained bookstores I've ever been in. I know that sounds weirdly pretentious haha it's just a REALLY nice bookstore. The staff is fantastic and attentive and helpful, the selection is great, and if they don't have what you're looking for in stock, they'll get it for you. Plus, you can order your books online. Support your local bookstore!

It has a pretty good selection of books and it's in a prime destination since it's near Barclay's Center. It's also really cute and clean which I appreciate. My friend and I needed help trying to find a book and the person who helped was nice and friendly which was nice. Overall, it's a pretty solid place to get books.

Clean, well organized, fantastic selection of fiction, nonfiction and poetry. A fine place to go if you know what you want, but also pretty decent for browsing and wandering. Ordering online for pickup is a breeze. They often have signed copies of new release and local books, which make excellent gifts. The kids section is cool and stocked with classics and new titles. Staff is as good as it gets and make a happy place for us bookworms and bibliophiles.

This place smelled nice ! I love the smell of new books ! I am also have a book addiction . Greenlight Bookstore had the book I was looking for , which is Another Brooklyn . I asked for the book when I stepped in and I was shown the register. Then I was offered to join their reward program, that will eventually save me money . The only thing that made me uneasy was the way the cashier looked at the money I handed her as if I gave her a virus on purpose. She proceeded to look at it up in the air for a minute each bill . Looking at it from corner to corner. Maybe this is a normal custom . This was my very first time . I will go back because I am half way finished with my book and I want another .

I love this bookstore! It's about a 35 minute walk from my apartment, but it's completely worth the walk. It's a great browsing bookstore and their staff recs are great! Also, if you're into buying random trinkets and gifts like me, their card/stationary selection is pretty good too.

This book store is amazing! It's got an absolutely fantastic kids section, and a great, well curated selection of books for grown-ups. My thing is history, philosophy, and politics, and although the sections for these weren't large, they were bursting with fascinating new books I hadn't heard of yet. It took a lot of self control not to walk out with a tall pile. It seems to me that any literate New Yorker would find a ton of interesting things to read here. They also have events which look interesting, though I haven't attended one yet.

I enjoyed my time browsing here, even if it's currently limited to 15 minutes. I visited Friday afternoon on a nice day. They would check on you if you're finding what you're looking for. It is always good to visit a real bookstore, and not a school & office supplies store acting as if it's a bookstore. I will visit again when I am in the neighborhood.

Great book shop large in size and roomy. Loved that they have a cafe inside the shop and tons of notebooks or planners to explore and make your own. They also sell pens individually which is nice as I have a good set of pens but lost one and was so surprised to see I could buy them there. Tons of books of all kind and when we went they were acknowledging a Mexican author which is my background so it was a pleasant surprise. Loved it!

This bookstore is a local treasure. Staff picks and center tables that are curated to perfection. Friendly and helpful staff members to help you find things. For parents, the bookstore also has a wonderful children section to browse and a wide selection books. Weekly events are in line with the community feel that this place fosters. Greenlight is cheerfully an anchor dropped unique collection that's good cafes and local restaurants for those looking for a bite to eat.

I absolutely love this bookstore and am so glad we have this in the neighborhood. I love supporting independent bookstores, and this place is worth every $ I spend there. They have monthly book clubs for Fiction, Non-Fiction, Graphic Novels, Kids Books, and Cookbooks and each bookclubs book is 15% off that month. Staff at the store is extremely friendly and always happy to offer recommendations/help you find what you need. Would highly recommend coming here.

One of my favorite bookstores in the city. Greenlight has an awesome selection that evolves frequently, and a super friendly and knowledgeable staff. The location is beautiful, in the heart of Fort Green, right near numerous bars, restaurants, and coffee shops, and a short walk from BAM.

Great little book heaven. Superb selection, all the new stuff in a lot of genres. The staff are incredibly accommodating, and the whole shop is quiet and cozy (not library quiet, nice quiet). It's cute, you're well taken care off but not bothered and you can find pretty much whatever you want unless it's incredibly specialized: it's still a small store and they won't have every publication in the universe on display, but probably in stock somewheres else. In brief: wonderful spot to get your read on.

One of the best bookstores, not just in the neighborhood, but of all I know. Don’t let its small size deceive you: the selection it offers is incredible. It’s new releases tables at the front of the store are always very thoughtfully curated. Their arts and cooking sections are a delight, and they offer a great selection of notebooks, cards and other gift items. Have I mentioned it’s just such a bright and happy making space?

Always seems to have what I was looking for and usually a pleasant surprise or two. Staff is friendly and helpful. The children's section is really nice, but it's easy to meander in the great choices of any of the sections.

Excellent bookstore. A good vibe. They have a large selection of both popular books and more obscure titles. Best of all is the staff. Extremely helpful and courteous. If a book is ever not in stock, they'll go out of their way to place an order for you. I think that's pretty great.

Short woman, short dark hair ..may be of Middle Eastern descent but who knows. She was manning the line outside on Christmas Eve evening. She always seems to be managing but crisply. Almost every time I go to Greenlight, whether for an event or an order pickup or just to browse, I find a book I've never heard of that's the ideal read for me at that moment. It's their superpower, stocking books like that. On a couple occasions I've been stuck on a project and wandered the aisles there until I stumbled across exactly what I didn't even know I was looking for. An amazing, co female-owned, bookstore with a strong community presence! Over the past 10 years, it's been an honor to watch Greenlight expand to a second store in PLG, a space in BAM, and even a neighboring stationary store. I would highly recommend Greenlight's community events, staff, and monthly selections to honor the celebration of the month/holidays (i.e., Women's International Day, Black History Month, Pride, MLK). Greenlight gives space to new writers and readers alike. As far as I know this is the closest bookstore to Pratt Institute, but somebody let me know if I'm wrong! They have two locations now, one here and one down in Propect-Lefferts. This is the older one, they have the general bookstore selection (fiction, non-fic, kids, cookbooks, comics, and art books) but also a nice New York and Brooklyn area towards the front, a little independent press table/area, and the staff is very knowledgeable!

One of the few independent bookstores in NYC. Greenlight Bookstore has a nice section of local New York interest. If I want to take a walk, they have New York guide books dedicated to walks off the beaten path. If I feel like gazing at street art and don't feel like visiting the gritty parts, they have huge heavy picture books immortalizing just that. And if I'm feeling all alone and like a stranger to NYC, I'm reminded that at one time all the famous New Yorkers were new to the city as well. I saw a book of New York memoirs. Greenlight Bookstore also hosts many author/editor publicity events. This is just like Barnes but on a more intimate scale.

They love when you bring in dogs (from what I can tell lol) and I find the way they display books really easy to browse. Love the local section!
