Reviews of Wax Trax Records Inc
Mayte Razo
I loved the place, the guy had a huge collection including some albums that aren’t easily found in standard record stores.
He explained the layout of the store including where to find the people I was interested in. It’s a small place but has three floors worth of material. And it is a cluttered store, with piles of records waiting to be shelved, but I found it comforting. The records were organized by female/male vocalists, and if it was a band then it was sectioned off into more well known bands (like the Beatles or deep purple). None of the records have a price HOWEVER mine were priced well considering the quality and the content, there’s also a $5 dollar bin to sort through if you’re looking for cheaper options.
He knows his stuff, he knows his worth. He wasn’t rude, he’s just straightforward and wants you to be well-informed. It’s a collectors store and is priced as such. Definitely will come back, especially for the record I decided to put back :)

Absolutely Fantastic selection! My friend and I spent almost the whole day just exploring through the seemingly endless selection of high quality rare vinyl. Found some things that I never thought I would see in person. Rich is a great guy and fun to talk to as well. Highly recommended to stop if you are ever in the Vegas area, and know that you will leave with an armful of solid stuff to take home with you on the plane!

Recommended if you have 1 or 2 albums you've been searching for and don't mind paying the bucks for them. You can find some "grail" stuff here if you want to be extra cringe about it. Don't go if you like to browse and grab a whole bunch of stuff and get a good deal on it. You will leave angry and hurt and personally offended. They have an insane selection. They had 3 copies of albums I'd never seen in person before. The jazz room alone is worth the stop. As mentioned before by countless of reviewers before me the pricing method is annoying and they charge top dollar. If you take a bunch up to have them price expect to wait a long time. This is only a guess but I think they price their records based on the price of copies that are currently for sale on discogs not on copies that have been sold on discogs which gives you a more accurate representation of the fair market value. They also do not consider the condition of the sleeve when pricing, price is based solely on the condition of the LP itself. That being said if you know what you're doing it's easy to decide what to keep and what to put back. Some of the stuff they priced for me was way too high and some was just a little high. I left happy with a couple of gems I had been looking for for quite some time. Will for sure return to browse more of their endless shelves.

Do not be put off by the bad reviews - the owner is curt, direct, and could be considered rude by those with thinner skin.
I have NEVER seen a greater collection of albums in great shape than I have seen here.
Rich interviews you at the desk to see what you are looking for. Nothing is priced, so have an idea of your expectations. Pricing seems to be based on low and high prices online, and he offered lower than that.
Thoroughly enjoyable experience!
Brian Taylor
I'll admit, I'm a fairly thin-skinned person and I did not find Rich to be rude, like so many other reviews indicate. He's a very direct and to-the-point kind of a guy with a very impressive collection and lots of interesting stories. He gives you a rundown of the store when you enter so that you know what to expect and where to potentially find what you're looking for. If I had to criticize, I would say the place is extremely cramped and I almost didn't feel safe inside of it. I don't know if Rich's choice of digs is by choice or by circumstance, but some extra room would do him some good. I also wish items were priced beforehand so I didn't have to make the embarassing decision at the desk in front of everyone to not buy an album I'd honestly been wanting for ages. If I had seen the price beforehand, I wouldn't have even picked it up. The pricing also seemed a teensy bit arbitrary, but what do I know? However, I do think I got a very fair deal for what I did end up buying. All in all, I had a great experience here.
Peter Tailele
The guy sound rude but I think that’s how he talks to people. Felt like he was protecting his stuff and making sure don’t break anything. I thought he was funny. It is cluttered with so much stuff, seems like he’s just collecting and collecting and buying stuff to sell. Stuff on the walls are organized but the stuff on the ground does make it difficult to look. Just have to move them to find what you looking for. I looked at his collections and found music I grew up back in my days and glad to have come here. Plan to go back again soon before I go back home. He has good collections. Like all business owners. You can buy it for price or not buy at all.

This collectors’ shop for CDs and vinyl is very awesome in so very many ways!
Alas, the missing two stars here are for access, cleanliness and price.
The store is cluttered and the organization struggles because of it, but that just means you can stumble upon something great. Especially if you’re into the Beatles or vintage soul.
However most things are only priced as you ask to purchase or checkout and that pricing process takes a bit too long and seems scammy.🤑
A sweet novelty worth a visit. Make sure you have time to kill and feel like haggling. 🖤🖤🖤🖤
Melissa Nigro
What a store! Every vinyl you could remember, need, and cherish. The owner is friendly, exceptionally knowledgeable, and gives helpful guidance and shares fun stories. We could have spent all day in one section. Pricing is great. We cannot wait to go back.
Alex La Rosa
Probably the best vinyl selection I’ve ever seen. However, the prices are quite simply unreasonable and stupid. $100 for a 2000 reissue of The Velvet Underground & Nico? $300 for a Beatles Help! Stereo record? Hell no
Vegas HotFlash
I was hesitant to come here due to the negative reviews: HUGE mistake.
I have visited most of the vinyl stores here in Las Vegas and spent over $1,000.00 in 3 trips to one store. They have yet to know my name or ask me if there is anything special I am searching for.
On my initial visit to Wax Trax, I was greeted and told where to find the different genres in the building. YES you have to get everything priced, I knew this and as assests, the value of vinyl can change daily. It was not a hassle.
When I checked out, the gentleman asked was there anything special I was looking for? I gave him 3 titles. He called me 4 days later and had located all three, one of them n Spain. Customer service still matter folks.
Lable, compilation, reissue, remaster, picture disc, unofficial release, matrix number, master release, 1st pressing: so many variations that can have an effect on the price of a record. These are not the albums they are selling at Target boys and girls.
If you are not familiar with the graduate level of vinyl collecting, I can see this being overwhelming to some.
They offer memorabilia, tour jackets, concert t-shirts and so much more. Come by and plan to spend a few hours to take it all in.
Anthony Camarena
Rich it was a pleasure meeting you. I only have eyes for you and your phenomenal catalog of wax. Our jukebox is now playing the Flamingo's. As you suggested create a list.
Jheronimus
You will find things here you would never find anywhere else in immaculate condition and Rich will work with you to bring home what you want and has always been such a Joy to work with. Great man and a great shop!
Debra Ekas
Amazing selection, knowledgeable staff. You can spend days in here. But if you are claustrophobic or fluffy, it's a tight fit!
Diego Lopez
Eh, thought it was okay. While I was looking at the records out near the door, the owner began scolding and teasing me for not knowing their prices. It was my first time, so I didn't really know much but I wasn't looking to buy anything. I was there with my siblings who were trying to find a couple of oldies. Felt like an idiot after that experience. Left a bad taste in my mouth the rest of my time there. It was cool exploring the building, however, and seeing the abundance of records.
Chingon Pelon
This Guy's collection is incredible, finding a unicorn is rare but when u do find one it ain't cheap..haha well worth a visit come with time and money!
space2k
Amazing, incredible, one-of-a-kind record shop.
The other reviewers complaining about prices - well, they’re right. The thing is, this is a shop for collectors. If you walk in and ask for your favorite record from when you were a teenager in the 50s, 60s, or 70s, chances are that Rich will have it - and it will most likely be quite expensive. If you were able to find it elsewhere (and chances are you couldn't), it would be expensive there as well.
This shop won't have new indie vinyl and splatter-vinyl 180 gram reissues and other RSD stuff. But if you are a serious collector, you're going to find more here than you can physically carry out. I found two records that I've been looking for forever here. One a very obscure experimental psychedelic LP from '66, and a even more obscure early electronic record. I'm 54 years old and have been buying vinyl since I was 13 and had never seen either of them in the wild. Both were well over $100, but not at all overpriced if you go through EBay or Discogs.
Mike Reed
Wax Trax is a collector's dream. Plan on spending a LOT of time looking. The items are not priced but that is not a reason to stay away. I know what I am looking for and know what the LP's sell for. There are items that cannot be found except online and if you trust every listing on Discogs you are in for a surprise when you receive it. By buying in person you get to see the actual condition. It may be more expensive but you are supporting small businesses that have to pay bills unlike online sellers. Rich is a nice guy, just old school. Enjoy the digging, it is quite amazing what is inside this place.
Chris Lucke
One of the best used vinyl stores I have visited. Granted, I buy vinyl for listening reasons, not collecting for future resale. I loved the selection in the $5 room and was able to check off a few albums off my “wish list”. I very much enjoyed the conversation with the owner regarding his close relationship with an music icon. Love this place and will never come to Vegas again without visiting
Bill Arnold
Literally salivating thru entire store. Found some really good scores. The owner and the guy helping behind the counter were more than knowledgeable over many genres and super friendly.
Picked up Pink Fairies, Live at the Roundhouse 1975. Advertised as "mint" condition. Yes, it was mint.
Estelle Collette
Everyone who worked there was so nice and helpful!! The selection was INSANE, it was the coolest record shop I’ve ever been to! They had every single record I’d been looking for for the last couple years. They gave me a good deal and I got awesome original records from them! 100% recommend please go there next time you’re looking for records.
M Bailey
Very nice owner who gave us a fair price for his treasures that he sold us. The place is an amazing storehouse of the most diverse music, movie and memorabilia collection I've ever seen. It would take several lifetimes to listen and look at everything there. A music lovers dream!
Darrell Clulow
We had the greatest time checking out Rich's collection. If you are a vinyl collector either a pro or just starting out, I highly recommend Wax Trax as your first stop in Las Vegas!!
Roblox Socialism
This place has tons of records that I just haven’t been able to find anywhere else. The selection here is unmatched but the pricing is really steep. Discogs has much better prices but the store was convenient and it’s always fun to dig through the records yourself. The staff was helpful and they helped me with the layout of the store. If you’re hunting for a rare record you’ll probably track it down here but be prepared to pay extra.
John Reading
This Record shop has it All ! 3 floors of crazy cool stuff ...the shop owner was just the Bomb! I spent hours in there and didn't even put a dent . But man i came away with some crazy cool records .nice prices and will be back
Lisa Israel
It's an amazing place, but be prepared to spend top 💵 for anything in this place. It's like a music museum or gallery where you can buy basically anything you want. LITERALLY....they had 4 Michael Jackson Thriller Albums. Yes, I said 4.
There's 🎵🎶 and memorabilia as far as the 👁️ can see. Meticulously organized by genre & artist. I mean an ENTIRE Billie Holiday section all to herself. Spaces are very tight in the store, but it's definitely a cool experience. Prepare yourself if you ever feel claustrophobic! 🎵🎶🎧🎼🎤📻
Sierra Enby
Huge selection of used vinyl but *steep* prices.
Everything is well organized alphabetically but very dense and packed together, very hard to browse unless you know exactly what you're looking for.
Nothing is priced, make sure to look up how much the records cost online before bringing them to the counter to be priced. There's a fair chance you can buy it online for $10-40 cheaper and it's not worth it.
Liz Rood
Mr. Rosen is no glad-hander but he knows his store. Found some great deals in the $5 bins, some rare Depeche Mode 12 inch singles, and had a blast digging through the stacks. This place is not for the faint of heart. If you are a Beatles fan, this is where to go to find every rare album and bit of memorabilia for that band.
Adult Terry Dub-Sevenz
Pretty expensive, but wow the inventory is amazing!! Might want to give yourself the day here. Owner is friendly and fun to talk to. I just love this shop! The whole experience was memorable and I will come back again someday.
Only God loves ME Cuz he dont
This album store was the only store that has Tina Marie album! And it made my cousins day her birthday was so special and I want to thank wax records for having that album available for me you guys are the best.
Sandra Munoz
Awesome experience. Found some great records and books. Owner is a hoot and has great stories. He had great prices and gave us some bonuses . Definitely going back next time in Vegas!
Duke Norman
Best record store in town! If you’re looking for a specific pressing or anything hard to find, they’ll have it. The owner (Rich) is a fun guy to talk to and is very knowledgeable. Memorabilia lines the whole place and is fun to look at. Get ready to spend a lot of time there!
Justin Griffin
Don't be put off by the disorderly nature of the shop. Yes, you need to squeeze around random shelves and boxes, but once you do, you will find vintage stuff in excellent condition. I'm talking Sabbath, Purple, Zeppelin, Hendrix, Stones, Beatles, all of it. Is it pricey? Oh yeah it is. Quite pricey, but a true lover of classic albums will find it worth every penny. The owner is direct and lets you know up front, his store is high dollar and for serious collectors only. Know that going in and have fun, because this place is incredible.
Ade Daramy
Close to vinyl heaven. All the rare records you're looking for, are hiding there. Come with a large wallet, though!
Kobi Ederi
Went for record store day and was blown away. If you are a collector of Vinyl this place has absolutely everything you need! Found some awesome Jazz and Soul albums, owner is cool and has some awesome stories!

This guy knows a lot about music, history and records. Great collection!

I was waffling between four and five stars for Wax Trax, but there's too many pros that outweigh the one con. If you're from the East Coast, like I am, the owner, Richie is a nice throwback to the stores I visited as a kid and the store owners I worked for back in the day. He's knowledgeable, helpful, and I enjoyed talking to him as much as I enjoyed the truly unbelievable collection. The store was busy today, and Richie and Jerry were both helpful; it's a store I will certainly visit again. They get five stars for the collection - I've never seen such diversity, and they had several copies of hard-to-find records I've been looking for. The one con is how they price records, but after reading other reviews and thinking about it - it's not Tower Records, Sam Goody, etc. It's a place to find that music collectible that's important to you. The four records I walked out with were reasonably priced - one I've been looking for for 30-years (A rare Roger Waters album) - and more importantly - no one else has these records. I've been to Amoeba in LA, stores all over Vegas, San Jose, Denver, and many others domestic and international, but this is a unique place worth visiting.
Scott Griffith
So this place has sooo much used vinyl. I found so many great albums I have not been able to find anywhere else. Only problem you are gonna pay through the nose for it. Nothing is priced so when you take it up they go online and price it off going rate which sucks. The $5 bargain bin had a few gems though. You really need at least a few hours to go through this place. If you need hard to find vinyl this place probably has it.
Brian Fox
Cool. Yeah sure it's a bit bizarre there. Sure prices are a tad on the high side. But holy cow, I spent years digging for some records everywhere and then bam they have 3 great copies of it, including some crazy import. All at fair prices. That said buy more than a few pieces, be a good human, love music, start a conversation with a smile and the staff will hook it up. This is a gem of a record store unlike nearly all I've ever been to.
Corey Cole
Really cool and wacky collection. Admittedly,I came mostly for the quirky dvds more than the vinyl.
The main issue is that everything's about twice the price that it should be,on average.
The dude owner is funny and oldschool. Nice neighbourhood guy. I told him he's got enough stuff for three stores. No reaction. Paring it down into a manageable and presentable store would do wonders.
This quotation from a previous reviewer sums it up:
''Suggestion: find a bigger place, buy a price gun or two and hire some staff to help organize the vinyl.''
marcus kaufmann
Can't understand the bad reviews. Maybe people think everything is for free and cheap but we are not at a sellout, we are in a record shop . Most of the records are from a time before I was born . So they have their fair price.
The shop is the mother of record shops, if you need 45's - go there .
The owner knows his stuff, is helpful and friendly. Prices are fair .
Go there with a plan of what you want otherwise you waist your and the owners time or you get lost in the tons of vinyl.
We really enjoyed the time there .

Wax Trax has by far the greatest inventory of records I have ever seen. Every record I have ever wanted to buy - from standard LPs, 45s, to live albums and bootlegs - Rich has it all. With over 40 years in the business, this guy has almost everything in his store. He is a very nice guy too, and my dad and I enjoyed a great conversation with him. This store is truly one of a kind. Being 15 years old, I haven't had the chance to experience the original record stores back in the day, so every time I come across a local vinyl shop, we have to stop in. This is definitely the greatest store I have been to. My one concern was that there were 0 price tags on any of the records, so come prepared with what you are willing to pay in advance, as the records can get quite pricey. Aside from that, this place is awesome!!
Alex Rees
Great store, but not for the faint of heart (be prepared).
I ask for a bit of advice from more seasoned collectors before visiting this place and the main gyst of what I was told was this: "Amazing Selection , but your own knowledge of records will determine how much the owner charges you" and I agree- it's a superb shop (probably the most well-stocked record store I've ever visited), but if you're not prepared to haggle with the owner, as well as have a lot of patience, this shop will eat you alive.
I collect bootleg vinyl and since the unofficial vinyl catalogues for a lot of artists are sparse, I have to make sure that I'm as up to date on my knowledge of bootleg records as possible to prevent myself from being ripped off by merchants, as a lot tend to assign random or fabricated prices to bootlegs. Even with that knowledge intact, it was still very difficult to haggle a more desirable price from the owner. He originally wanted $100 each for two double LP bootleg albums, both of which I knew were overpriced
(The first one I'd only go $75 or under and the second one id only go $60 or under), but after I gave them to his partner to price using online resources (along with a stack or other LP's I was interested in), they knocked down the offer to $75 each (which I was satisfied with for the first album, but felt a bit ripped on on the second). Initially, I was a bit unsatisfied with what I paid, but I had a chat with a longtime customer of the shop and he brought up a good point; this isn't a shop people go to for bargains, this is a shop that people go to for access, as the shop's catalogue is undeniably massive. So while I do feel like the second album was overpriced, I do tend to agree with the sentiment that paying a bit extra is worth it for the vast range of albums this store provides (in terms of the stuff I like, it was a literal goldmine).
I feel bad for only giving it three stars as it is one of the more impressive record shops I've visited, but I do mean it when I say that this is a shop for hardcore collectors only. Anybody without a well-established knowledge of correct values and haggling skills will get eaten alive here, but for more seasoned collectors, it's quite the experience.
Think if it as the record shop equivalent of a double black-diamond ski run: make sure you're prepared before traversing. I only visited because I was passing through Vegas on a family vacation, but I definitely want to visit again at least once in my lifetime.
Robert Hart (Dr. Robert)
I have been to Wax Trax several times over the past 5 years, and I make a point to go every time I am in Las Vegas. I have read a number of the reviews below, and they really don't offer an accurate assessment of what this store offers to a serious vinyl collector.
Having shopped in literally hundreds of vinyl stores in the US, Europe, and Asia, I would absolutely place the collection at Wax Trax in the top 2 or 3 of those for the rarity and the condition of the used vinyl. Heck yes, the price is high. And the scarcest stuff is not priced prior to check out. But simply put, you will find things here you won't find in any other brick and mortar store in this density.
How about all 5 of the original Ike & Tina records on Sue? Or two original German copies of Pretty Things S.F. Sorrow? A Mint original Spanish pressing of Sticky Fingers? Or Timothy Leary's original first album on ESP? Those were among my finds in a one hour visit last weekend. And that barely scratches the surface of what a serious vinyl hound can find here.
I would suggest that visitors to this store with less desire for high end collectible vinyl make that clear to owner Rich Rosen on entering. There is plenty here in a more affordable and less ethereal category. But for truly dedicated vinyl addicts, this is one of the few places you can actually hold these artifacts in your hand and take home a pile of finds that you may never see again. I'll take that against the uncertainty of EBay or Discogs any day.

TONS of records, Very helpful and kind staff, and great prices

Great find in Las Vegas! So many to choose from. If you're looking for something obscure or more mainstream, you'll find it here! Charlie the puppy may ask for an entry fee of ear strichess. Rich (the owner) knows his stuff!
Katie Miles
I couldn't agree less with the bad reviews. I knew going in which records I was looking for and related ballpark figures for each. I found that Rich not only priced them fairly, but offered a volume discount.
Jerry was polite and accommodating, while a spirited conversation with Rich about my oddball tastes revealed an impressive store of knowledge and delight in coming across the new and unusual record.
Xandra
If you’re looking for the bargain bin, this isn’t the place to come. It’s a floor to ceiling treasure trove of top quality vinyl and random bits of amazing memorabilia. Be sure you have plenty of time when you come cause there’s a lot to see!!
Brer Sunshine
Hands down the best experience I’ve had with records in Vegas. Rich and Jerry were kind enough to stay a few minutes after close and help me out. I only made it through (maybe) 1/3rd of their inventory and crossed off five incredible records from my list that I haven’t seen out in the wild. Will definitely set aside some more time next trip. This spot is a must if you’re into collecting, sampling, or the DJ scene. Much love to you all from Nashville, TN!
Christopher Delappi
I’ve read the good and the bad reviews... but here is the deal with with Wax Trax. Selection is incredible - 100% worth the trip just for that alone. Second , the owner is part of what makes the experience. He’s to the point , he jokes around , is direct but not rude , wants you to have fun looking and yes he is there to make money. Don’t be surprised that everything you grab isn’t a steal because it’s not that kind of place. Hit the $5 bin if that’s your thing because you will find something you want. Organization is sufficient but you can always ask for help. Nothing is priced and they do look it up but try to think of that as part of the xperience. A record is worth what someone is willing to pay - know your number and engage in the fun of it - you may be surprised. I had an absolute blast. Got some really sweet deals, some prices were fair and I might have overpaid a little for 1 of 10 but it was worth it for selection and knowledge of the staff. Will return again 100%

The collection of records here is truly mind-boggling. I began by chatting with the owner, Rich, and meeting Charlie the dog. I told Rich I was interested in mostly classical and he pointed me first to his rare/collectible classical selection. I was amazed-many original Living Stereo, Decca and Mercury Living Presence titles. I’ve never seen so many of these holy grail pressings in the wild before. I then went downstairs for more classical and was distracted by his “audiophile” section. Rows of MFSL, Nautilus, CBS Mastersound and many others. Just amazing. All this before I even began searching for other “normal” records. Rich and Jerry’s system is a bit unusual (nothing priced; bring them the records you’re interested in, and they give you a price), but they are both extremely knowledgeable, helpful and FRIENDLY. I would say I paid a fairly high price for my selections, but my selections were very high quality. Make the trip to Wax Tax. It’s an amazing place and a great experience. And don’t worry about Charlie the dog. He’s a sweetheart when he gets to know you!
Joe Blue
Great stuff at retail++ pricing.
Your heart will race when you walk in this little store, but your excitement will quickly turn to disappointment when Rich starts talking your ear off and quoting you prices. Rich is an entertaining fella with endless tall tales about the music industry and record hauls, but you'll never get a bargain here. I bought a handful of rare soul 45s and paid the same as I would have on ebay (without all the chit chat and crate digging).
Nothing is priced beforehand, so Rich looks everything up as you wait, and goes with the highest (or higher) online auction results from ebay & popsike. He apparently has a lot of mail order clients who don't know how to use a computer and will pay whatever for a record.
Once was enough for me.
Jennifer Homer
If you are a record collector and only have time to stop at one record store in the Las Vegas area, this is the one!
savajess
This store is a must see. The best collection of records I've seen! Plan to stay for at least an hour to look around. Don't miss the $5 bin! I just scored some Joan Armatrading, Allman Brothers, Blues Brothers, and so much more.
Wade Taylor
Very cool shop... The owner is something of legend amongst Vegas music nuts... Rare pressings and audiophile selections abound in this 3-story shop. The prices are a bit high but it's worth it for the experience and selection (which literally reaches the ceiling in some of the rooms).
N Bouchte
Sure it’s a little bit of a while in the wall but w the small 3 floors, 10/10, I’ve been to many vinyl record stores and this is definitely one of the best. I’m also a collector who is stingy on their money so their prices are very good!!! Again, 10/10!!!
Dave Meyer
I was in Las Vegas at the end of November to hang with friends and decided to go check out Wax Trax. I try to never miss a chance to visit a vintage vinyl shop. Anyway, I must have spent over three hours in there, and still didn't even get through nearly everything. In fact, I spent that much time just on 45s. I found Rich's selection both deep and wide, and could have picked up a lot more than the four singles I brought home with me. Listening to some of Rich's stories also made for a great day, and I very much look forward to going through more of the stacks the next time in in Vega$.
Divine Iconoclast
The owner is straight to the point kind of guy , he'll ask you what music your into and point you in the right direction. His store will overwelhm you there is so much music I'm sure you'll find what your looking for. If you care to listen to the owner he actually a cool guy lots of interesting stories and has a good taste in music.
John Marzy
A solid 5 stars for selection. A solid 1 star for their pricing philosophy. Wax Trac most likely has the record you are looking for. The problem? Nothing is priced! Each record, regardless of condition is evaluated at the front counter. Research is done to ensure the owner is not giving anything away and you pay the current market value. In my humble opinion their prices are higher then what you can find on Discogs. So for me I don't need to go back and hopefully I just saved you a trip.
Greg Wing
This place is unreal! Rich is a great guy. Knows everything! What a selection. Best anywhere. Honest and friendly, felt like when I was a kid going through a friends record collection. This guys word is solid. Just because you find a gem, if he quoted you he sticks to it. You don't find this kind of honesty everyday. A true gentleman.
Adam Halen
Amazing place, incredible knowledge. Rich supplied me with what I was after and at a fair price. You'll pay a fair price here and you'll get quality. Highly recommended !!
If you're a bargain hunter...stick to your yard sales and ebay alerts. If you're a serious music connoisseur than you're at the right place.
Matt Weis
How could you not want to buy music from this establishment?...If you’re a self proclaimed vinyl enthusiast I would skip it. If you truly love music?....I would strongly suggest a visit.
Unfortunately for me, I was told to never return....
See you on my next visit to town Rich.

My experience at Wax Trax was similar to many of the other comments ...I give the owner 5 stars for curating a museum and 1 star for his retail capability.
As everyone points out, nothing in this store/museum is priced (the owner told me his inventory is like a "precious metal" so his pricing "fluctuates" daily). However, unlike the pricing for precious metals, his inventory appears to be isolated from market forces (internet pricing). He unabashedly asked me to pay a 100% markup (over my median costs at discogs).
I believe his strategy is actually two-fold: 1) cater primarily to customers for whom price is no object (they don't hesitate, they don't question) and 2) intimidate or confuse the people who do stick around in an attempt to get them to spend impulsively (he didn't think there was anything odd about asking me to pay $30 for a record listed at discogs for $3 and did not care to discuss that discrepancy).
I can see how trying to accomplish this day after day would make him crusty and leave many potential customers disappointed ....perhaps he could consider selling by appointment only? That way people would know about his unusual approach and pricing policies upfront and he wouldn't have to endure the constant friction from people who were expecting to enter a store but found themselves in a museum.

It's true, the store is pretty expensive, and for that reason the inventory is probably really, really great: no bargains, only first pressings. I bet he also pays better than anyone else to get that kind of stuff. IMO it's a great shop but not for people with tight budgets.

This place has the best selection of rare LP's I have ever encountered. Despite other reviews regarding price, I think the prices are fair. The hard to find albums I was looking for were there. Hope to return soon.......
Pavel Antonov
One of the best collection I've ever seen. Wide range of $ and records.
Friendly know-it-all stuff
A “Muther Focker” Hill
Fantastic place. The owner is a great guy. Very knowledgeable, friendly and fair seller. Enjoyed looking through his place. Amazing collection of music. Pricing is right on the money. I’ll be back next time I’m down from Oregon.

Arguably one of the best record stores in Vegas for sure! Phenomenal inventory and the cool folks (Rich & Jerry) over there will work with you in terms of prices if you're direct, knowledgeable, and respectful.
Johnny Carlson
This is a real record store, this is how it should be. Literally music memorabilia from the floor to the ceiling. Rare albums, CD's, books...everything. Give yourself some time to go through there because it's worth it. Thanks to everyone that helped me out. Yours truly, "Utah"

Found LOTS of collectible stuff, but much of it was pretty overpriced. Ex: There was a Cecil Holmes Soulful Sounds - Black Motion Picture Experience LP which is worth like $5 - $20 in the vinyl collecting world and it's condition, but tried selling it to me for $50.
John Humphrey
This store is a record collectors dream! Holy Grails everywhere... and is some cases doubles and triples. Expect to pay top market value. No "steals" or "deals". Courteous and knowledgable staff.
Ray Huse
A great variety of quality records. No scratched up used up stuff here. If you have a record you've gone crazy looking for, you'll likely find it here. Keep in mind nothing is priced on the shelf, so you may be surprised on how fast it adds up :)
Mick Perfetti
Rich is an American treasure. The only thing bigger than this guy's wealth of knowledge of the music industry is his heart of gold. He makes everyone around him feel important and you feel good about yourself after having spent time with Rich. We need more caring in this World like Rich.
Peter Reynolds
Really great shop. U could spend all day at this place. Friendly helpful guys. would recommend this shop who is looking for good vinyl. A++

Cristina Diaz
This is a great little store. Every record imaginable. Check out the $5 record piles. Worth the digging. I found 6 of my wishlist records. All in awesome condition.
Juls C
It has ALOT of Inventory, but they want Top dollar/Collector pricing. Not All can afford to spend that kind of money. They have to look up pricing and that takes time and patience for All involved. Not for everyone.
Amanda Roth
This place has an AMAZING selection of vinyl, not to mention movies and cds too. The guys are the nicest and will help you with anything you need, and Charley is the sweetest dog.
Deborah Harris
This record store is a National Treasure, as is Rich Rosen, the owner of Wax Trax. If you want to listen and learn; if you want to find a record you have been hunting for all your life, you will appreciate Wax Trax. This is a record collector's dream store.

fact
A really broad and fine music collection of CDs, vinyls, and cassettes. The place is a little tightly packed, but it really gives the place a personality, really enjoyed browsing through everything. Owner was also really cool, not sure why a lot of people are saying he's rude, his pricing was reasonably fair.
Christian Sutter
(Translation) Doesn't look like much, but full of vinyl! Price a little at the head of the customer and according to the mood of the boss. Please note this is not for all budgets!
