I cannot recommend this location more. Rob (business owner) and Dare are amazing individuals. Both caring and offer excellent customer service. Never over priced and offers lots of TCG tournaments for the card game lovers. Always loyal to customers and easy to make friends here. There comes a point where you just have to ask yourself, “Is saving a couple bucks on Amazon, worth sacrificing good customer service?” The answer is no. I would gladly over pay for product from Rob thanks to the excellent experience I have every time I come in.

If there is one comic book store in Indiana that you NEED to visit - this is it. I have been coming to Comic Book University for years and I'm proud to call myself a repeat customer for a reason. The store itself is very open, very well organized, and had an extremely friendly atmosphere thats only complimented by its friendly, knowledgeable staff. The variety of Comics is incredible too, truly there's something for everyone here. Not just single issues either but Omnibus', hardbacks, paperbacks, collectibles, storage, accessories, this is a one stop shop for anyone who is looking to store or start collecting comics. They also carry some Manga, not a lot but there's a decent variety. They also have a large Magic the Gathering collection with a ton of accessories, decks, singles, packs, etc. They also carry Pokémon and a variety of other Card Games. There's even RPG Books and Children's Comics and books towards the back. All the Free Comic Book Day Events I've attended here in the past have been incredible too and I always try to go when I can. This place is always the place I tell my friends or coworkers to go to first whenever they want to get into comics. I always love coming here and I've never seen another store come even close to the standard of quality Comic Book University prides itself on. You won't regret visiting!

Probably the best comic book shop in Indy. Huge place, always the widest and best selection of new and used comics, and the staff will know your name quickly if you visit with any sort of regularity. Highly recommended! Additionally, you can constantly find Magic: The Gathering and Pokémon card players in the side rooms at just about any given hour of the day. Absolutely something for everybody here.

This is my go-to comic book shop in the Indianapolis area. They basically have everything you could want as far as trade paperbacks and new comic book issues. They also have a decent selection of back issues. Price is always cover price for the comic books and the new trade paperbacks, so there's no complaint there. Staff is always been willing to answer any questions that you have and it definitely feels like the type of the store where anybody can walk in with a love for the comic books and be treated equally. There is no air of superiority with this store. The only thing I miss is having a wall full of comic books that are rare that I can look at, but it definitely makes up with the volume of products that essentially has pretty much any comic book that is new or trade paperback that you could want. Definitely an asset to the Indianapolis community!

Really nice store to go for comics, mtg cards & figures. My last visit I purchased a couple figures and they had everything I was looking for, one of the staff behind the counter actually came out into the store and helped me find one of the items which was awesome! Endless supply of comics and very nice, clean store. The staff are always super courteous and welcome me when I walk in. I've been going for a couple years now and I live quite a ways away but it's always well worth the drive.

This is a great find for any Magic The Gathering 'whale'. Great inventory that isn't readily sold off their website. Varieties of collectors boxes/singles that are unavailable at other places. Prices are fair compared to market. Staff is eager and lots of them. Owner/boss spoke w me at length at a busy time, seems like a great place. Made a large purchase and was very happy. Lots to look at in the store in regards to comics/other TCG's.

Staff was very helpful, and to see funko pops of some 90's music artists really took me back. I never knew they had that type of funko pop I always thought it was just movie and TV show ones. I definitely recommend going if you are a collector of comics or funko pops you won't be disappointed at all.

I have been going to CBU since they were in their old location on 135. Rob and Dair are not only knowledgeable about their product, they are nice to boot! Their inventory is great and their prices are competitive. If they get in a high demand book, they will sell it as such. I can't fault them for it, as many others do. So many people get mad that they can't purchase multiple copies of a book. I get it. I've been there, wanting more than one copy of something. CBU has denied me on more than one occasion. I understand the reasoning though and commend them for doing it! Long story short, CBU is a good place to shop and I will continue to give them business!

I went here in hopes of finding the ultrapro card holders and literally as soon as I walked in the door there is a giant section of them! All sizes and top loaders as well! They sell the top loaders individually which is super nice and the staff was very helpful and friendly. They were also a very good price-- a lot of people actually sell this kind of stuff online but I wanted to check a store to see if it was cheaper than ordering them and it was! I was very happy with the experience!

This is a great store, not only for comic books, but figures, toys, games, card games, back issues, and much more. They have room for Pokemon leagues and tournaments, as well as other card games. A board game night (check out their calendar) and other special events. The owner and staff are knowledgeable about way too much and happy to help out. If you would like, they can pull comics for you as well. Just an all around great place.

This is hands down the best shop in town! I moved all my pulls here 6 months ago, and haven't looked back. Everyone here is advanced friendly to me and my family. I bring my kids here every week sometimes more than once, they always go out of the way to make us feel welcome. No matter how busy they are, and this place gets packed! To date I have never had a bad experience and never ran into a book they didn't have. Great selection of trades and back issues. Every current literally and great stock of variants. Do yourself a favor and swing by this place, worth it. Also, I don't use this aspect but they have a thriving gaming community and very active events. The guys working there are super helpful and cool and the building is spacious so you don't feel cramped. They have a large selection of new and old comics as well as a very good selection of tabletop games to buy. Plus a public gaming area that's very comfortable. This is my go to spot to meet up with friends and play Legendary or whatever new board game I I happen to have. Highly recommend.

They always have what I am looking for or I sometimes go in to browse and eventually find one that looks like it would be good and I usually go with the series ones, not so much 'only one comic in this collection' type of thing. Plus the smell is very satisfying! I go there every 6 months for the next Walking Dead, if not sooner to get others that I read.

This store was thee best comic book store I've visited in Indy. The store is well stocked, has diverse comics, has super cool and on trend games and accessories! My son and I spent almost an hour just browsing BC there was so much. They also have meeting rooms for all of you board game lovers. Think D&D w new friends. The staff didn't hassle you w their spiel or favorites. It was a great experience. Earlier in the day we'd gone to another comic book store that was small, not as diverse and crowded. It was nice to happen upon this gem. I walked away w a new series called Abbot. I'm looking forward to going back with my son to see what else we can find.

And I realized how much Batman I need to catch up on. The staff answered questions and pointed me in the right direction. I was impressed. This is a destination spot worth the drive. Usually my go to comic book spot, and it never disappoints with new releases. Plus they have an extensive collection of tradebacks with a decent set of statues as well. My only real hangup is their back stock of older single issues. I wish they had more, but that's a small nitpick in the grand scheme. The events they throw come together well, and the staff is always ready to help without being invasive. I always enjoy stopping by and seeing what they have and what I can find to add to my collection.

Unfortunately negative overrides positive experience. It's always fun to be able to relax and enjoy some strategic nights of magic cards but when a store employee takes and gives you 25% value on a card sale to insult you. Then goes and tells other members of his family and friends to harrass and insult you as you go around to enjoy a "vacation" style release. Not only does it add insult to injury but makes you regret from being hospitable to individuals like dare. Whos incompetence starts to become a burden on an otherwise wholesome enviroment.

The staff is amazing--polite, knowledgeable and friendly. The selection for comic books and graphic novels is all but unbeatable in Indianapolis. Since moving to Shelby, they've also expanded their game and collectable selection... Other than Game Preserve, they probably have the best selection of board games in the city.

One of my favorite places for all things geek...BUT...sadly one person can ruin an entire experience and both times I have dealt with Rob, the owner, I have been made to feel completely unwanted. I do see him be fun and outgoing with others, so I do not doubt he has the capability, but he seems to have his favorites. As another comment stated, "...it's the small things..." The first time I dealt with Rob I asked to see some Magic cards. No one was there who knew Magic and Rob told me no one could help me. I had a tournament the next day. When I asked if he could just please look in the box marked with the set I knew it was in, I was told VERY rudely that he had already told me he could not help me and then he completely walked away. I didn't see him for a very long time and then yesterday I was in looking around. Woman was getting old cards priced out and a total Magic geek approached excitedly and asked her about her collection and if she had more. He was so excited! Yes, he was in the wrong, but he was excited. Instead of calmly explaining that this wasn't appropriate, Rob ended up yelling and accusing him of trying to steal a sale and threatened to have him removed from the store. For being excited? For asking a fellow Magic geek about the REST of her collection at home? Guy immediately apologized, but Rob was having none of it. Even the woman selling the cards was upset with Rob. He was so far out of line it was ridiculous. The guy apologized. For God's sake. Eli and Dare are absolutely amazing, but CU has lost my business for the day if I walk in and see Rob behind the counter. He was already treating an older couple poorly when I walked in, so this was just the icing on the cake for me. This place is great, but not when he is around. Geeks are passionate about what they love, like the guy excited about seeing old cards. Geeks back each other up and understand how exciting it is to see the holy grail of their fandom. For me, an original Luke Skywalker would be mine. For this guy it was old Magic cards. Hey Rob..what do you geek? Anything? You've made it clear to me that unless you are a comic book fan, you personally don't have time for us. You apparently know nothing of Magic or most of the game type stuff around the counter. Instead of politely sharing that, you are rude. Beginning to think all you geek is money as your treatment of the woman with the cards was equally as bad. Those were her babies and all you kept asking Eli was, "Anything we want? Anything worth it?" You've lost site of your geekdom. I left. The woman left WITH her cards (pretty sure that says it all). The Magic Geek left. Betting he is a mixture of embarrassed and angry. I know I would be and am. I will not do business any longer with Rob. Only with Eli or Dare. They are quality staff at a great store. Its sad that the owner is the only one with an attitude problem.

I was very impressed with the selection at Comic Book University but the service is very poor. I had a stack of comics I wanted to buy and I stood at the register ready to check out for about 10 minutes. There was someone behind the counter having a conversation with another customer and although he looked over at me a couple of times he never offered to ring me up. I finally just sat the comics down on the counter and left.
