Nice flow to the store. Greeted upon entry and left to my own devices (the way I like)New comics are on the side wall, lots of back issues that are organized to thumb through. The selection and amount of issues for the trades was impressive. I also enjoyed the amount of manga available to look at. For the board gamers the selection takes up half the store! One of my top recommendations when it comes to trades and board games.

This place has always been a treasure trove. While you can always find great new collected editions, there is great selection of rare and older books. The real hidden gem is the manga section in the very back which has its fair share of out of print books. It may not always be the best organized store but it also makes the hunt more fun.

Pop culture, board games, minis, kits, comics and action figures - they have a huge selection of nearly everything sci-if and fantasy related. If you’re in Houston, make sure you stop in for a taste of what comic book stores used to be. Truly unique.

First time checking the store out and it was a pleasant surprise! The store owner and other patrons were very friendly, there was a wide array of stuff from anime figures, plushies, manga, action figures, comic books (duh lol), as well as dice, board games and puzzles! I don't live in the area but the drive to the store was well worth it. I hope I can go back again soon

Only stayed there about 15 minutes with my bro who was seeking a specific game, but this store isarge and jam-packed with games, puzzles, comix, figures, and the like. I could've easily spent an hour (and probably $50+) there. Very nice, in an unassuming strip with a smokey BBQ joint on one end.

This place is awesome! I got so much cool stuff and they had such a wide selection, I was stoked. Serious nostalgia, was so awesome to get game and comic based action figures, comics that also came in hard cover with multiple in one, manga that also had 3 books in 1, cool games, I mean they have so much you are bound to find some hidden treasures you will be just ecstatic to bring home and show off to everyone! I even got a Zelda clutch purse, and earrings, a Harley Quinn umbrella, Star Trek and Power Rangers lunch pails, FNAF pens, and they also have shirts with all your favorite characters. There is something for everyone, definitely have to come back and if you haven't been there, check it out for sure!

So I Headed back to Nan's after getting so busy in life , I rarely found time for comics. After 20 plus years it was great to see Nan's is still here! The selections are great , not too many changes. I spent some time in the games section, what a variety games! I had no idea of all the different games that are out there! Fun time! Really who has a bad time at a comic book store? I have only been to Nan’s a couple of times and both of those have been very enjoyable. I have thought about purchasing multiple board games that are difficult to find, but the games can be a bit pricey. What I did find was a plethora of dice for my student’s dungeons and dragons club. They were reasonably priced. I could spend hours perusing all the wonderful things that the store has. Excellent place!

Nan's! If you have never been to this place you need to go! It does not matter if you like games, collectibles, or comics. It is an amazing and eclectic store. The staff is always very knowledgeable and helpful. This is where Santa Claus works! Literally! If you don't believe me go find out for yourself! You will know he is there if you see his car in the parking lot oh, you can't miss it! I go every chance I get. I like to get little gifts for my friends here.

Came from Manvel, TX to sell some games and comics to this store. Being one of the most well known stores in Houston for Buy, Sell, and Trade, I thought they would be best buyers for me. I took a box and the counter person looked at a couple games on top and said they don’t pay cash, only store credit. He didn’t bother to even look at any of the comics. He recommended I try to sell them at 3rd Planet Comics Store. I got much better service at 3rd Planet! You earned 3 stars for a good recommendation.

After seeing this place for over 19yrs, I wouldn’t believe I’ll have a great experience going in for the first time. My bf suggested to go, and so we did. The are so many comic book options, board games, and figurines. Honestly it has a bit of everything. We stumbled upon the complete box set of Demon Slayer! It retailed for the original price, which is $199.99. Apparently there was a sale, and with taxes, ended up paying $174! That’s around $7.60 or so per book! That is such a huge saving. I encounter myself an Elektra figurine, and he provided a discount on that too, since she was missing a sword. Friendly staff~ would be returning!

First off the dude who was working was cool as hell and very friendly. Second my 11 year old son wanted Pokemon cards and they had some. So that's a win. But this is a very cool store with a great atmosphere. Next time we're in Houston we will be stopping here again.

Their collection is absolutely huge (to the point that searching for something can be intimidating). But the people working there were very knowledgeable and helped us find some very cool party games. They were fun to talk to as well. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to buy some cool (new or old, simple or intricate) board games.

There's so much stuff in there that it's great to just browse around, but it's also one of its drawbacks. I wouldn't call it dirty, but it definitely feels stale like an old bookstore. Some people might like that type of ambience but I don't. The prices are what you would expect at a shop, at least compared to online retailers, so I don't buy big items like board games there too often, but I do buy some dice or smaller things out of support for the store. The guys working there are nice enough and parking isn't horrible. Check it out if you're in the area.

Good selection of older and new comics. This really isn't a trades type of place, for that I'd try Bedrock. They do have games, but it is clear that is not their main focus. Frankly, this is not a place for browsing. You can rely on the friendly staff for suggestions, but if you are into comics without collecting actual comics and prefer trades like me, I wouldn't go out if your way to go here, because that isn't what this place is for. This place is small compared to other comic retail stores in the area. Gaming has always been an afterthought here and there are no tables or places to game here. They have some niche games, but Barnes and Noble has a similar sized game area. I'd recommend heading to a games store. I like the staff a lot, but I don't really go here anymore.

NAN'S is one of my least favorite comic shops in Houston because it is small and over packed. It reminds me of comic shops of old with tons of old books and pop culture pieces adorning every empty space. The upside is that they carry plenty of gaming stuff so you can rub just about ajy campaign or game you want. The lower 'back bin' diver count also means you are more likely to find something rare. They also do well with keeping the books mostly organized so anything relatively valuable had probably already been sold by the owner. But in the 'misc' boxes seem to be recent addictions that haven't been sorted yet so that is where you can find occasional gold.

Great selection of memorabilia, comic books, shirts, action figures and games. The gentlemen behind the counter (maybe Mr Nan? idk) was very nice, talkative and friendly. The other staff we saw were also polite and friendly. We spent over an hour just looking at everything, remembering past toys, items to search for and enjoying searching around. Will definitely go back when we are back in town.

One of the best comic books stores I’ve been too. One of my favorites. The man in the front checking people out (Nan?) is very polite and recommended an comic series that has become my favorite. They have more than comics they have funko pops, puzzles, shirts, posters and board games. You can get lost for a couple of hours looking through their inventory.

By far the BEST selection of boardgames and tabletop gaming paraphernalia in Houston! They even have a separate selection of wargame boardgames and euro-style boardgames. I'm not into comics so I can't give a good rating on that, but they definitely have a large selection. I love Nan's, it's a must-go for any nerd!

SO and I came here late on weekday looking for a new game to play. Brian was fantastic in suggesting various options, the two we went with were Munchkins and Tsuro of the Seas. Both were exactly what we were looking for and have enjoyed playing both since (in fact, he successfully converted us into Munchkin fanatics!). The staff there is very friendly, knowledgeable, and there's plenty of everything. Definitely recommend this place.

This place has more cool stuff than any place in Houston. Comic books, erotic art, bobbleheads, action figures, collectible cards... they've got tons. The staff knows their inventory so they can save you time, but I prefer not to ask for help so I can search through everything and find all the things that I forgot I desperately needed. They buy, sell and sometimes trade. The thing that makes this store special to me are the treasures, the rare and hard to find stuff that commercial dealers don't even know about. As far as prices, this isn't a mall or kiddie store with a bunch of common filler. I can honestly say I never feel that buyers remorse feeling when I leave. Also, Nan's is super easy to get to, and you can jump right back on the freeway when you leave.

Nan's is a hallmark of Houston's comic and gaming scene, and really shouldn't be skipped if you're in the area. Selection is great, but prices will be MSRP or slightly higher. They keep an excellent mix of current/trending and older/back catalog books and merchandise. Staff is friendly, if at times a bit cranky (but really, Bryan is an awesome guy). That said, there is some room for improvement: - The store is musty. This has gotten a bit better over time, and it's never been as bad as Third Planet (used to be? I haven't been in a while), but this is the kind of thing that happens to a nerd store with a lot of older merch that stays in the same location for a while. - They don't have any space to actually play the games they sell -- they leave this up to other establishments. Check out Asgard further north on Shepherd, or Geek Life or Tea+Victory in the Heights for table space.

What can I say about Nan's other than I love it! The aisles are stuffed with goodies, and just when you think you've seen everything, another shelf full of cool things appears. I visit the store nearly every week, picking up new comics, Magic the Gathering cards, dice, shirts, and Munchkin sets.

The games here are sometimes a bit more expensive than ordering on Amazon, but sometimes they are the same after shipping, and sometimes they are cheaper.

As a tabletop enthusiast this is one of my favorite places in Houston. It is packed to the gills with everything you could ever need or want as a gamer. I seem to always pop in when "Santa" is there. Staff is always cool. If you are even the slightest bit geeky you have to stop by.

Nan's is the best local shop for games hands down, their selection is amazing, nearly encyclopedic. If you are looking for tabletop games look no further. Prices are sometimes slightly high compared to amazon but it varies (and you can play the game today). Nan's has a great comic and toy selection for collectors as well as casual readers. I alternate between here and Bedrock City as my two comic shops.

I've been going to Nan's since the mid 80's. It's a Houston institution. It's had its ups and downs but this week when I went I was pleasantly surprised. There were some amazing finds like still in wrap Kislev that haven't been produced in forever, as well as an eclectic assortment of what seems to be every board game known to man, paints, comics, and everthing else. For us old timers, a real change, and I actually think it's a nice change, is that the store is clean and tidy. Shopping at Nan's used to be like spelunking the inner depths of a geek dungeon where you knew you'd eventually stumble upon the body of some kid that was shopping there 10 years earlier. It's still jam packed with awesomeness.

Tucked under I-59 this store is a fun geek shop with a variety of products. Foremost it has comics and figurines pertaining to the comics like a Doctor Strange bust displayed on top of a shelf. They also have graphic novels and mangas and products meant for storing or protecting collectibles. On the other side if the store you can find various tabletop game products from board games to rulebooks/pedias for the likes if D&D/Pathfinder and Starfinder. Back on the other side you can find tabletop figurines(paintable type and pre painted as well). They also sell a few card games like magic cards and other little knick knacks. Definitely a good place to check out if ok the look for the nerdy and geeky stuff.

I don't think it's been cleaned since the last time the clerks had sex and I don't think that's ever happened. They didn't even have Naruto in stock! They didn't have my strawberry pocky either. I don't recommend this place unless you like seeing fat sweaty men cream themselves while reading Batman comics.
