Okay we left here saying not only why have we not been here in so long and wow this place is truly an awesome place. When she opened the cover of this particular book and it said $1.50!!! That’s when she really had us ready to come all summer long. You get credit for reading in used books. Such a fun spot with so much more than incredible selection of books. Highly recommend!

I'm so glad they moved from fry road to mason. So much easier to find them and they are so close to so many things. If you are looking for a gift for a book lover or are one yourself I would go. For my kid I got the wrapped bag of books that has at least 5 books in it, usually more and it's a surprise. When she started getting picky about what series she was on then I could get that book faster than the library can get it to me. Great for long trips especially.

Not a fan of this new location. I've been in twice since they first opened. The staff is nice and they have a great selection, but the atmosphere is not the same as the old location. The old location was cozy and had more of "get lost in here" kind of feeling. With chairs scattered about and dead end sections where I could sit and read a book. This one feels smaller, harsher white light, and not as cozy. Plus since it's not carpeted you hear everyone else's steps, essentially it's a louder environment as well. Both times I went in I was out within 15 minutes, whereas the older location I could be in there for hours. I would have been more than willing to make the drive but it's not worth it to me anymore unfortunately

Excellent collection of all kind of books very nice collection in gift shops warm welcoming friendly staff you can read plenty of books of all subjects plus point is when you bring your read ones you can get discount on your next book. Free standing parking very nice location clear visible sign you can easily find this store. All associates are very humble and helpful you won’t be able to go out from there without buying something they have excellent collection.

For years I have been going to Katy budget books. I used to live in Katy for a long time, and I would always go in there with my kids. Mostly to buy books they were like my first choice of book stores to purchase books. I recently went in there about a year ago to get some books I was in the area Yay. It really made my day to see them still in business and running at optimal speed. I was going to church out there so I went by to visit before the service started and I found very good bargains and deals and buys. Anytime I go to Katy I have to stop at Katy budget books and will go out of my way to stop in to shop. They are a very nice and well-organized bookstore and I appreciate them for having the books that I go in there to seek after.

This has been my go to bookstore for over 20 years. First and foremost they have a great book credit program that will keep your book costs low if you bring books to trade in regularly. Even just buying the used books at face value you’ll get a good deal. It is very organized and easy to find the genre you’re looking for. I have found everything from children’s books, history, how to, travel, fiction, on and on and on. What sets KBB apart is their knowledgeable staff and the fact that they have a great selection of the most current popular books too. It’s big enough to have most everything you’re looking for but remains small enough to not loose its character and welcoming environment.

My family and I have been going to Katy Budget Books for over 20 years and have so many wonderful memories (especially the Harry Potter parties/midnight releases)! I love that their used book credit never expires and the used books are SO inexpensive. They have a pretty wide selection as well, and the employees are nice and helpful.

A simple and nice bookstore. I've sold several books to them and received a decent value for them. It's definitely more worth it to sell books here than to sell books to Half Priced Books. I don't appreciate that they stamp the side of the books with their store name though. It ruins the book's aesthetic and it is quite unnecessary. There are other methods to "mark" their books.

Very nice setup, I loved how well everything was organized, it made it much easier to search for specific books. So well organized we changed our kids home library to match this sorting system. The selection was outstanding, having spent a weekend bookstore hopping of more then a dozen book stores this one was one of the best. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely suggest this place to all book lovers!

I drive 30 minutes to come to this store and I haven't set foot in a Half Price Books since I discovered it! They have some amazing finds, the staff is always amazing and gives great opinions. Plus they have a mini little gift area that you can get some cool stuff. The prices are so affordable. Instead of getting money for your books when you sell them you get store credit to apply to your future purchases!! They give you GREAT money for your books compared to other places. Honestly, check out this place and you'll never go anywhere else.

DON'T SELL YOUR BOOKS HERE, unless you're willing to take store credit for the type of book you sell. If you sell paper backs you get paper back credits and if you sell hard backs you get hard back credit. This means the credit can only be used on like items! You can never use your credit on the collectors items and no cash ever. It's not a great system for selling so take that business to half price books. They do cash and they're quick there. I love to support local and I understand they can't offer the same thing as half price. They rely on the book economy here in Katy so to speak. If you know exactly what books you need this works, if they have it as well. They have a good selection. Sometimes it feels a bit crowded and unorganized, but it has that small town run vibe. Their collectors section has some good picks too and sometimes they're at an awesome prices. They run little work shops too from time to time so keep an eye out. Like I said, supporting local businesses is great, but maybe modify your selling system.

This is a very friendly store with a good turnover of both used and new materials, plus cute gifts, games and toys (all new). Their hobby sections are quite good (cooking, fabric and sewing crafts woodworking, gardening, etc), and they have sections for specialised interests (history, religion, self-help) and for categories like mysteries and romances. I've always been happy to shop there and I always find something very useful or fun!

When we were doing some cleaning we had several boxes full of books. We wanted to share these books while we donated some we brought a bulk of them to Katy Budget books. They gave us a great credit amount and the employees were so sweet and helpful. We love coming here and can't wait to get to the new store.

It’s a great place to buy books I hear people complaining about the one day policy and I believe it is because there are people who are faster readers than others so if there was a one week policy people could just read the book and return it without paying anything and they would be scamming the store. Another thing, the reason why employees do not ask if you need anything is because it’s a small store with signs on the ceiling and it’s a bookstore it would be frustrating if you were reading a book and then an employee said is there anything I can help you with while you are reading. Anyway I love this bookstore!

Good selection of new and used books... the used books are in nearly new condition and are half the price of the new books. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I'm really impressed with the organization of the store as well. My first thought was that they only sold new books because it didn't look or smell like your typical used book store. A wide variety of used and new books with a great trade in credit program can be found here for all ages. Weekend author visits and teacher programs are an added bonus. My kids and I often come here. The atmosphere is always friendly and inviting.

Fun place to go if you're a reader. Books aren't always the best deals (half price on some used editions just aren't worth it for their condition) but if you're thorough you can find a deal on most visits! Staff are friendly and smiling, and always willing to help. There are chairs throughout store to browse books before purchasing. This bookstore doesn't make you feel pressured. It's become a favorite spot while in Katy.

As a long time customer of KBB, I can only say it remains a great experience to visit in the store. I don't often bring in books for store credit, which is what they do, but when I do they are all helpful, letting customers know if some books cannot be accepted or not. I have tons of book credit there, and pay a few dollars usually when I go in there. If I buy new there is is a card they give out where once you buy 8 books the average comes off the next time you buy a new book. When they do not have a book they are very happy to order it for me and I have done this many times. Also, if I want to get an older book they keep a list of wants and call when the book comes in. This is great if you're looking for certain series or authors. All in an independent book store, which is fabulous in this day and age and I feel very fortunate to have this store in my part of town.

Wow they moved since I’ve been there last. The store looks so organized now. I went in to use some of my credit that I had accrued there when I lived in Katy. I was able to find five books on my own and the helpful sales associate offered a suggestion to me when I was at the checkout counter and I purchased that one also. It was a winning day for me.

Very crowded. They cannot keep up with donated books. You cannot just show up as I did with a box of books to donate - you MUST HAVE AN APPOINTMENT or else they will turn you away. Or you can put them in the dumpster behind the store.

They have a large selection of books and other cute quirky items plus they're really nice. I like coming here. My only issue is that I've been coming here for 19 years and I've never seen a black person working here. Hispanic, Indian, Oriental, and Caucasian, but no one that was black. I have a hard time believing that not one qualified black person has ever applied. This makes me 😢.

Visiting from out of town and found this hidden gem! Bookstore with new and used books, meets country market. We came back again for toddler story time and Mrs. Alicia was so good with all the kids my daughter was happy. We also enjoyed the 12 days of Christmas sales and Grandma got to buy gifts for her grandkids and family back home. We'll be back anytime we visit Katy again. I've been a customer here for over a decade. And each time I go in, I leave with a smile, even if I don't find the book I want. The staff is just so great to work with, and the .50 cent sales cannot be beaten! One of the best used book stores I've ever had the pleasure to frequent. If you need something not in stock they'll get it for you, or let you know when they do acquire it. TIP; if you go on the bi-yearly sales, go EARLY. Everyone in town seems to show up sooner or later!

The store is well set up and everyone was friendly. They can search on the PC if they have a particular book in stock and it they don't can alert you when they get it. Cathy knew exactly where to go and offered other great selections based on what she had read. They even have a book club and occasionally authors come in for book releases and signings. Great bookstore with a lot of events, book signings etc. There regular stock is a bit more expensive than rival stores. However twice a year they have a massive semi annual sale. 50,000 books for as low as 50c you can't beat it.

Best bookstore in Katy area! They are a small bookstore, not a franchise, therefore they go the extra mile for you. If they don't have the book, they will order it for you. Prices are reasonable. If you are new tot he area, they carry all the books the kids hace to read at Katy schools. They also have the option of used books, most of the time, if you don't want to pay full price. They will buy books back as well.

I've been coming over and over and over again to Katy Budget Books since 2009 because of (1) the amazing selection, (2) the courteous staff, (3) the roomy feel of the store, and (4) the ROCK-BOTTOM prices!!! At every other bookstore I've ever been to, they've marked up the prices to the sky's limits. However, here at Katy Budget, they take lightly used books and refurbish them to suit the needs (and budgets) of consumers. Even as the general concensus of people seems to be drifting away from the great works of literature, I truly feel like KBB has a place for everyone. I absolutely adore this store!!!

Katy budget books has been around in this area for nearly 30 years till so been repeatedly ranked as one of Houston's best independently owned bookstores you can easily lose yourself in it the owner has done wonderful things with the store they're always having events and authors signing, if you're looking for a required reading for school many times already know what the school district has prescribed and they've got a box of them ready for students.

KBB is my local bookstore. I love their selection and buyback program. My best experience has been when I was looking for Arch Enemy, the third installment in The Looking Glass Wars trilogy. I picked it up off the shelf, took it home, and when I opened it, it was AUTOGRAPHED. A real gem. I was so surprised and satisfied with my purchase. You never know what good stuff you'll find on the shelves here!

I Love KBB!!! I'm an avid reader who prefers physical books. I have been coming to Katy Budget books since I was a young child. Katy budget books allows me to earn store credit by donating books that I no longer need or want, and I can then use that credit to purchase new (to me) books! Its a wonderful system that has allowed my library to grow and mature as I have. Additionally, I appreciate the shelves that contain books recommended by the staff of the establishment. I have discovered so many books that I may not have discovered had they not been on the 'staff picks' shelf! I recommend KBB to every avid reader in the area. If I could give it more stars, I would.

Love ♡☆❤KBB they have a fantastic selection of used books & plenty of new books. Sadly, 💔😿 I had to move far from Texas so I can't go any time soon. I was fortunate to live in the area for 9 months & loved KBB. They have two semi annual sales that are fabulous & frequently run 20% off coupons from a purchase of $25 or more (on new items) you can find those in Katy Magazine & other places if you search. They also have 50% off sections or discounted items on rotation very often. They have unbeatable deals, sales & discounts & for every 8 new books purchased you get a free book or new gift item on that last purchase just make sure you have the cashier fill out the frequent reader card w/ the slots. KBB has a much better selection of unique used books & new gift items than Half Price Books in Copperfield on FM 529 & Books-a-Million in Katy Mills which are the closest competitors. KBB is the best used bookstore in West Houston, all the Half Price Books fall short in comparison as do most other used bookstores in the Houston area. I'll be sure to return to visit KBB next time I'm back in town,when I go back to Texas. Worth the trip,check it out!

Katy Budget Books is a nice little place in the midst of an otherwise bookstore-starved city. The frequent-buyer card is a nice perk to further patron loyalty. Check it out!
