This place is an actual comic book store not a funky pop/ anime store. They also have a good selection of board games and miniature figurines and supplies for mini painting hobbyists. The owner is always very informative and helpful. They have an area in the back with tables where can play games or paint! They also have a small section of Pokémon and other trading cards.

To Jess and joe ( JD LAKE ), I was at the store with my kid when you entered and you were never harassed by the owner, he did say you can’t have animals cause you can’t see anywhere they are service animals, once you offer this information he never gave you attitude, you stormed out of the store and sat for almost 40 minutes in your car probably writing this, you and did this on Facebook and Yelp, this was my first time at this place and Jeremy was nothing but patient and helpful with my 6 year old. You did come back and ask for his name and if he was the owner and make the sarcastic “ Have a great Day and went back in to your car. Comments like this can destroy people’s life’s and business the only people with the rude attitude was you and the only one making is you hope you find peace and stop acting like people is out to make your life miserable. God bless you !!

Appealing layout and well-organized. There is also a room for table gaming in the back. Want to come again.

I am SO excited that 8th Dimension has a storefront again! It's better than ever! 8th Dimension has the cleanest store and the most knowledgeable staff ever. My kids are now old enough to really enjoy the store. If it tells you how well stocked the kids' section is, my kids spent all their time looking at books instead of the toys. If you have never been, it's well worth the trip no matter where you are in Houston.

*The* best comics and games shop I've ever been to. I've never been uncomfortable there, and the staff is amazing, and they keep the place super clean. They keep an excellent selection on hand, and they have *awesome* events. I never have any concerns at all about taking my young daughter with me, and we love their miniatures setup because it's easy to find just what we're looking for. The new location is even better than the last!

Simply the best Comic & game store in Houston! The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and always willing to help. While it caters to geeks of all stripes, it also is very welcoming to friends and family that may be shopping for the nerd in their life! It has a great kids area, with books, comics, toys and more aimed at younger folks. A wide selection of games, new and back-issue comics, trade paperbacks, and collectibles of all kinds. You can't go wrong with this shop!

I heard about this place during the Critical Role Austin One-Shot in the before times. This place is so welcoming. Sometimes, game stores can feel uninviting to people who aren't regulars, especially women. Not so with this place! Super friendly! I got a new book and as a quilter stocked up on comic boards for my fabric stash. We love coming every week for DnD!

I'm happy 8th Dimension is open again! Their staff is always very friendly and knowledgeable, they have a nice game room for any game you want to play and a bookshelf full of games you can demo before buying to play at home. The main highlight for me is their Magic the Gathering prerelease events.

Great customer service with a staff willing to help out. The only con I would say is that there isn’t that much of a selection for comics, but to be honest, not all comic shops carry everything someone would want. Seems like it’s more specialized for table top gaming. A game area and the selection of events is pretty cool. Still trying to get my girlfriend to check out “Ladies Night” in the hopes of getting her into graphic novels and table top gaming. But overall I had a great experience here.

UPDATE: A decade later and 8th Dimension is still my absolute favorite comic & game shop in Houston. <3 The staff has always been amazing and organizes lots of events for customers. I have never felt out of depth and the staff always makes me feel comfortable and like I belong. Nice new place. Their game room is pretty sizable. Great varying collection of board games to buy. Came her for a D&D adventure league and things felt a bit confused and overwhelmed. If they implemented a reservation to keep track of how many people sign up things might run a bit smoother than having to much overflow.

Friendly and helpful staff. Great selection of back issues and graphic novels. They also have kids comics,books,and toys. They also stock adult collectibles and action figures . I recommend doing the subscription if you are a comic book collector because most books on the rack are picked through withe broken spines. Great place for magic the gathering and D&D cards dice miniatures and board games. Monthly events and weekend sales makes this place even more spectacular.

Great store if you're looking for comics, manga, trading card material, or just a wonderful board game. The staff has been really good--friendly and genial, ready to help if you have questions. They hold various play group nights (somewhat small space for it, but usable), so if you're looking for a D&D group or Pathfinder or Magic (etc.) this is a good place to start.

A friendly, helpful staff with a good stock of current comics, trades, board games, role playing games, miniatures and misc stuff. The in-store gaming is an awesome privilege open to anyone interested. Location is visible from the road, and it has a good mount of available parking. This is my first choice in gaming shops.

Great little game shop, small items and comics seemed priced decently there are a few board games that seem a few bucks more but it can be worth it to buy from a local retailer! I've seen they have game tables, but have not looked into the schedule or attended any game events here, just an occasional customer, but love coming to look. Very large selection and various interests.

I live in the area and they have made me feel welcome every time I walk in the door. Extremely friendly and just a great all-around comic and gaming shop. They have an area in the back for playing games with friends or trying out new games. They also do D&D encounter nights and MTG Friday Night Magic every week. Just a great place to hang out and have a good time!

One of my favorite local game and comic stores. In short, I can take my kids in and have us all enjoy a clean, well-lit, safe place that's got a lot of nerdy stuff in it, with a big open gaming area and a clean restroom. Annie and Jeremy have become good friends of mine, and their employees have been consistently helpful, and every special order and pre-order request I have made has been met with a eager readiness. There was also a board game room, a good variety of comics, and a really helpful staff (was there with clueless bf and they helped me get him into dice at least). I think this is my preferred store in Houston. Also, there's an ice cream shop nearby. That's never a bad thing. Clean, airy, welcoming.

I love this place. Great selection of board games for all you tabletop fans. There's a big freeplay area so you can try before you buy, but often times it's full with people for weekly events they host. Good selection of comics with up to date new release section. They even have a Funko POP display for vinyl figure collectors. And on top of all that the owner is just an all around cool guy.

Seems like a very cool place, and the guy working (I think it was the owner Jeremy) was very nice and helpful. Only downside is that their selection of comic book back issues is a bit slim. On new issues and gaming stuff they are well stocked though, so if that's what you're looking for check them out.

They even have a good selection of store games to play, so you can try before you buy, or while away some time.

(Should be below me in the reviews if you click newest) come in offer to sell the owner something and he politely refused 3 times, it was at this time John C threatened the owner with a bad review because of his denial. Don't look at the bad review from John C he is a liar and rude person. I will always come back to this great store.

This place has an excellent selection of comics, board games, card games, manga, and pop culture fandom stuff. There's a good selection of table-top role playing stuff, including a really nice selection of dice. They'll order just about anything for you. There's a game room in the back in case you're looking for a group or your group needs a place to play. I'm not sure how they schedule, but it's in use often. There's a membership loyalty program. Oh, and it's locally owned and operated. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and as geeky as the customers.

I love coming here! The staff is great and welcoming as soon as you walk in. There's a active card playing community. They also will order your comics for you free of charge. And this place also has a kids comic section. The layout is easy to understand and if you need help finding anything or need suggestions the staff there are always willing to help out.

Super friendly atmosphere, great selection of both comics and games, and updated regularly. Their game room is well separated from the merchandise and usually busy. They do an excellent job of keeping regular gaming events going and listing them on warhorn and Facebook so you know what is coming up. I first went in March and go there weekly now.

Great Comic Book Shop in Northwest Houston – Finally! It’s great to have this comic shop, which opened about a year ago, right in the Copperfield neighborhood. The owners are very nice and helpful. They are always willing to answer my kid’s endless questions about comic book characters and stories. They offer a weekly comic book subscription service (which I use) with a 10% discount off new comic books. They have a great selection of trade paperbacks, graphic novels, back issues, t-shirts, action figures, vintage toys and role-playing games. They host Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) Encounters every Wednesday night, which is allot of fun. I have frequently seen the owners helping first time visitors who know absolutely nothing about comics find just the right gift for a friend or loved-one. Highly recommended!

I had a strange experience there. I was there on opening day while they were still unpacking boxes and they were amazing. They went out of their way to help they were VERY knowledgeable and informative (especially since I'm not a big comic person and was looking for a place to start getting into them). The spent about 45 min trying to help me find a comic I would be into and they were very patient and nice about it. I returned in April ('13) and they guys who were there the first time weren't in and there was this one guy who looked to be 19 and he was not very good. He spent his time hanging out with tow other people and each time I tried to politely get his attention for some assistance he didn't seem to notice. It took about 30 min for him to get around to asking me if I wanted to CHECK OUT. By that time I had put back most of the books I had initially wanted to purchase and just stuck with one. I'm not going to let this one experience completely color my experience there, but he's the reason I ranked service "very-good" and not "excellent"

Always love it! You can feel the reasons why this was rated on of the best comic shops in Houston. Owner is always up for a good chat (FULL of knowledge), staff is friendly and ready to help, they host several card/gaming events and are even adding many more, their tabletop gaming section is outstanding, not too large of a shop where you might get lost in it all, and family friendly with a section for the little superheroes in your life. My family and I have been customers now for a few years and finding ourselves visiting more and more. They also make attendance usually at Houston ComicPalooza with a booth which is nice too. I go there to collect comics, play MTG, and chew bubblegum. And I'm all out of bubblegum. Good thing that they sell bubblegum in their snack area. Great selection of board games, card games, wide play area, clean bathroom. Suraj, Noah, Jeremy, Annie, and the rest of the crew sure know their own niches, so don't be shy and ask about Gunpla, Comics, RPG books, or comics. Your questions will be answered. Great selection of comics and a game room with lots of space for DnD. I'm learning to play but the store is really accomadating for the possibility of a loud game happening seperate from browsing the comics.

i come here once a month to pick up my subscription comics. I've been going to comic book stores in houston my entire life and i'm over 40 now. (oh you hush up) I was always treated kind of blah because i'm a girl. Not here though. i've always been treated like i knew what was going on, even if i had no clue! they have gaming nights, that i wish i could go to! they have so much fun and so many promotional dealies! i recommend this place over any of the hard core comic shops in the houston area. they are all humans here, with a heart, and seriously dig having fun. knowledgeable on all things from the avengers to x-men and all things in between. you can even get into a light-hearted fun star trek debate here if you want, it's absolutely awesome! i love this place! it's a must go and see. it's like hanging out with your friends, even if you don't know anyone there.
