Reviews of BOOKOFF Kaka’ako
Ruben Ruiz
You could spend hours browsing this place. Wild selection of vintage and imported video games, as well as a pretty extensive manga, DVD, and Blu-ray collection. Everything is also very reasonably priced.
The anime figures and paraphernalia is sort of a grind to go through, as it's not organized in any categories really.

If shopping at Gap or Tommy Bahama is your vibe, this place is for you. If something with a bit more character speaks to your soul, please know that there are amazing (and independent) options for used books here on Oahu.
Largely a purveyor of fiction books, music & DVDs in English & Japanese. No other options available as concerns different languages.
Feels institutional, because it is.
루시디안가죽공방
Not cheaper than Japan's book-off. There aren't many kinds. But a must-visit place.
Liyana Lynx Xoxo
If you're looking for Manga, this is THE place to be. Books in both Japanese and English (maybe others as well), videos, toys (*ahem* I mean 𝘍𝘪𝘨𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴) and employees that know their stuff and are interesting to chat with. I am not a manga person, but the staff helped find the perfect for thing for a friend based only on some vague secondhand details I had overheard (yep- I was ᴛʜᴀᴛ customer..sorry!). There is also a satisfying non-Manga secondhand book section, collectible t̶o̶y̶s̶ - Collectible Figures- music, and used electronics. They also buy books, cameras, laptops.. it's such a cool little shop.

The place is filled to the brim with a wide selection of books, toys, CDs, and anime merch. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. I hope they are able to expand the store and carry even more stuff!

Always great variety of books, games, videos and more. Can easily spend hours looking at everything. Staff friendly and knowledgeable.
Rosie Vega
Love this place. Tons of books available for $1 and a good selection of collectibles as well.
Meghan Posey
An amazing used bookstore! There are books from every genre and various languages. No matter what type of book you like you will be able to find it here, especially with their well organized shelves. 📚 …

It's the Bookoff that everyone knows and loves, just in a location that's harder to locate. The parking at the location is scarce, so you may want to take mass transit or walk. The deals are great, the staff friendly.
Theresa Geelhoed
The store and employees are great. The parking is lacking and there's no bathroom. Had to end my book search early because of it.
Ivar Sarapu
Great deals on cds for $2. Nice videos. Sometimes an out of print copy is right here.

I’ve just found out my must-visit place on Oahu was moved to Kakaako. And it will be grand opening tomorrow on March 20th!!! I look forward to checking this new and upgraded store in the near future. At the same time, I’d like to express my Mahalo and Congratulations to the Book-off Ohana.
Will Nelson
A great used bookstore that also has games, figurines, and manga. Always enjoy browsing their collections.
Lei Lei
Good cheap place for used books and all kinds of stuff cds dvds and video games
john p
Very cool used book store. Super low prices and all of the books were in great condition.
Chanel Ellison
Great place for used books and video games. Always super quiet and staff is helpful
Toma Antilles
Great selection of books, toys, videogames, and electronics. Used videogames are a little overpriced, but brick and mortar videogame stores tend to all have this in common. Glad you guys are in business.
Buddy Crotty
Fantastic collection of books. The real gems for me were in the Japanese children's book section. I found a mint Miyazaki art book for $2 that sells for $40 on Amazon.
Txomin Hermosilla
Amazing bookstore with a significant section of collectible figures and toys, many of them with Japanese origin. Lots of books and comics perfectly organized. People working there are super helpful and attentive. I loved spending time there trying to find items to add to my collection. I will come back for sure!
John Schoffstall (spoutinghorn3)
If you like Book Off come here. It is just a bigger version of the one at Pearl ridge. The staff are nice and the selection is huge!
Victor Wade
A very quiet and cheerful bookstore offering a selection of literature, comics and manga in Japanese and English, as well as a selection of electronics, games and game accessories, and an assortment of toys from popular anime series.
ミズルミMizurumi
It's the best place to visit if you're an anime fan, they got low cost figures, mangas, games, and lots of Japanese books from novels to magazines, etc.
Abel Wuchang
Went to pick up some kids books for my 10 yr. They also have lots of other books, games, figures, CD and DVD. Have to check it out if u just passing by or need some reading material. They also buy ur stuff too.
jay clemons
Just like Bookoff in Japan except mostly English books. The Japanese section is excellent too!
Kela Kitkowski
The location is way off the beaten track. Remember when it was in Ala Moana Shirokya, then at Don Quixote, but now it's in a business area way off from the tourist area. The layout is pretty okay, but the downside is the prices. Books priced a few bucks short of original MSRP. DVD's priced at collector prices. This isn't taking into account the video games, figures, and Funko Pops, which are priced at collector prices.
Kinda miss the days when the value was a tad more reasonable and not hedged with eBay.
George Laird
Nice, new store with a good selection of used books, DVD's, video games, anime, etc... It seems a bit larger and brighter than their Pearlridge location, although I've found the staff at Pearlridge more helpful and approachable. Overall a great source for pre-owned merchandise at reasonable prices. The store is easy to miss if traveling Mauka bound on Cooke Street due to the orientation of their sign but much easier to locate traveling Makai bound.
Alyson Wong
Friendly staff. You gotta know what you're looking for. The shelves are somewhat organized, but can get easily disorganized.
Ted Ziegenbusch
Incredible selection of used books. We were surprised how many great titles were only one dollar. Lots of former best sellers and hit books on many subjects both fiction and non-fiction.
Val Oson III
This place has it all. Most stuff is second hand. U can find blu-ray and dvd movies, all kinds of cd's, ps3/ps4/x-box/Wii games. Also got some old school atari games. Electronics in the glass cases. All kinds of books. Store is on the intersection of Halekuwila and Cooke St. Parking lot is small but lot of street parking.
Phil Meyers
Got the book I was looking for with help from knowledgeable staff!
Hyeyeong Ham
I bought a book at clearance in 1 dollar. They have many dvds
Dyanna Volek
What a quirky, cool bookstore! They have so many good $1 deals since they buy reused books. And they have a large collection of figurines. I wish there was one where I lived because I’d be buying books all the time!
Hulali Kauwale-Jumawan
Wide selection of items/& "goodies" for anyone @ any age ... Having just opened in March of this year the store is still has that "new" feel to it, its clean, well lit, & armed with a knowledgeable staff.
SELLING ITEMS ~ & the Whole Process that comes with selling anything @ Böök-Off & I must say is one of the easiest things to do. The staff are fast in evaluating the items you are selling. The prices that they pay out are somewhat reasonable but it can also be quite cheap too ... which may come as a shock to some !?
Either way its a good resource to look at if your trying to find those "rare & unique books & items".
Charlys Ramos
Nice selection of books and Manga. Clean store, friendly staff. Will be bringing my kids to look. A lot better selection than other locations.
Swisher Heinz
Did you know that Book Off moved from Don Quijote on Kaheka street to it's own stand alone store on Cooke street? It happened recently so they are still getting situated so o please be patient! They are continuously stocking and organizing. The inventory is filling fast with great titles. Drive slowly as you head toward the mountain and they're on the left hand side. Parking is kinda tight so I'm driving my small car. Have fun.
Lots of bargains and surprises.
It seems prices are creeping up much like everywhere else.
It's always a treat to visit Bookoff. Large selection of books and nice titles at great prices.
Lori-Anne Fay
I'd give it a fiver but there's something I find a bit tense about this one. Maybe it's just the energy of so many people learning in such a small space, seems like everyone's new. I suspect because of the Pandemic. I just feel like they're always in a rush. Or I'm in the way. Around books I wanna chill and feel peaceful. Just saying
Ethan Piel
They have a very wide selection of different kinds of books and video games ranging from collector's edition games all the way up to old retro games and consoles.
Rebecca J
My favorite book store! Hidden gems at great prices. Workers are so kind. I only wish I could sit and read for a bit but I understand it's covid times. 10/10 for this place. They also sell beautiful anime figurines.
Katherine Rivers
Friendly staff, lots of great books, including $1 sections.
Jon
Nice place for people that have an interest in Japanese media. Not as cool as the legendary BOOKOFFs of Japan, but you're bound to find something neat here if you've never been.
Andrew
I love this place. It has everything... books movies and games. I go here once a week at least.
Jun Keoki Cabison
Great location just kinda small parking, but overall place is welcoming. Staff is great and they're very helpful.
Mark Ichijo
This location was really small, located in a small corner of Don Quijote but, had a very large selection of all sorts of media. Their used Japanese manga section was a treasure trove of cool stuff, most books were only a dollar!! Some of the prices were really high, especially on their video games, but all in all, a really cool place. Their second location in the Pearlridge Mall was disappointing. No Japanese manga at all. Gonna have to check out their locations in California sometime soon.
Gregg Kawakami
The best Book-Off on the island. One of the few places to find used Japanese books, music and dvds. The store in Pearl Ridge barely has any Japanese stuff. If you are into Japanese media, you should definitely check this store out. The next best thing to a Book-Off in Japan.
Scott
Place is pretty big, lots of books, games, cd's, DVD's and a big Japanese section, and a lot of figurines, definitely going back 😁🤙🤙🤙 …
Royce Kono
Okay, I been trying very hard to explain that this other business that I consistently visit is proximal to Ncat. Which I never go into. The place that I do sells seeds, cookies, jams etc. I go for Marlin Fish Jerry lemon salt flavor made in Hawaii Kailua Kona sort of pricey but then again what isn't pricey now days. Gotta go with the flow. That's life in the tropics. I believe store is whosale unlimited right where no longer exists LikeLike drive in. To the oldies when I was a youngie it was a Drive in movie and where Ross is was former Rainbow Roller land skate ring. Those were the days of my youth. Kui L ee

Had a lot of the kind of things i want, books, movies and music. I wish I could have spent more time here.
Drew Tschirki
If you want Japanese books, manga, or media, or even some English stuff as well, book off doesn’t disappoint. Ever since I have come back from living in japan I have been craving buying Japanese literature and other books (not manga) and Book Off has a great selection at an even better price. Can’t wait to go back and get some more books to add to my collection!
Brandon Patolo
Scouring through the 100's of books in the $1 section is my new hobby lol Found 7 new books to add to my collection :)
Janice Lee
Awesome for bookworms/treasure hunters/diehard paper book readers/dvd/CD collected. Not the most friendly cashiers/workers, but reading is mostly a solo sport. Cheap prices, decent condition of stock and they buy too.
Simon Zhang
I love book-off! It is definitely a gem when it comes to building your own dvd/Blu-ray movie collection. My wife and I have found so many good movies here for a very discounted rate. It's always fun. To see what they have on sale. They have a pretty sweet dvd and Blu-ray collection of not only movies but also tv shows. Great place to get movies!!! Highly recommend the place 😊
Kanoa Shimizu
Book-Off is the best deal on the island for used movies... Great price, the books are awesome too! This place is a hidden gem!
Dr Zoidberg
A great place to go for movies, shows, anime, video games, toys, and all things nerdy! Definitely has some rare finds.
James Down

Urbane Streets
Great fun to browse. I almost forgot what it was to browse and discover new items in person during COVID19. Cant wait to see their bigger new store in Kakaako!
Paul uyehara
Only once did I not get good service. I noticed that the person isn't working for them anymore. I like how I'm treated by the staff. If you're interested in something that you can't find, they're helpful and attentive. It's pleasant to shop there, they smile when they greet you. I like the fact that they check my dvds, to make sure it's not missing or wrong disc, before I'm wrung up. Yes,I've got bad disc's...but never had a problem getting it resolved. Thanks Bookoff.
Yuezhong Zheng

When I go to Hawaii, I always stop by Book Off.
The price was reasonable, and there were many kinds of second-hand books that looked like new books.
The staff seems to be really in Japan for Japanese people.
北幸代
Before returning to Japan, I sold 20 children's picture books and children's book collections that I had brought from Japan to read during my trip. I filled in the form with the name of the hotel I was staying at, an ID required, and a phone number.
Meng Dong
I found an English book I really like, and the price is very cheap.
D H
Inside Don Quixote. Although it is a small section, it has CDs, games, comics, etc.
八家夜郎
The book and magazine sections are smaller than they were before the pandemic. The games and toys section is much more complete than the previous one (Kaheka store), but I feel that the prices are a little high for used items.
Taylor
Huge variety of book on the cheap cheap. Check out their $1 section!
lots of cheap japanese books

I bought an English picture book for my child.
It is convenient because you can buy and sell Japanese books.
