Storyhouse Bookpub is truly a special place! This is an amazing indie bookstore with a well-curated selection of titles for both children and adults. Their staff is incredibly helpful & I always leave with a recommendation for a book I would not have found otherwise.

I've visited hundreds of bookstores, and Storyhouse Bookpub is one of the best. A fantastic children's section, brand new releases, a curated Iowa author section, monthly book selections that focus on community celebrations (Pride Month, AAPI Month, National Hispanic Heritage Month), and frequent best-selling author visits and readings makes it easy for me to label it as a top-tier bookstore. Abbey and her staff go above and beyond curating recommendations and they ALWAYS have wonderful book suggestions when I ask for a certain genre or vibe. I guarantee you'll leave with one if not an armful of awesome reads.

This wonderful shop is worth WAY more than 5 stars! The staff working there was awesome & was super helpful! It was neatly organized and had an array of options! Plus, the area is also great, as there’s a few pubs and restaurants nearby!

My favorite book store in Des Moines! Abbey and the Storyhouse crew are the best. Every time I walk in I'm greeted with a smile and I receive great book recommendations. They house diverse genres of books and even ordered a book for me when they didn't have it on the shelves yet - above and beyond!

Had an absolutely wonderful experience this evening at Storyhouse Bookpub! This store is beautiful in every way! They offer a wide variety of books that would please all readers; no matter age or genre preferences. I limited myself to two books but could have left with my own little library. The owner, Abby is also very knowledgeable and you can tell that she is passionate about reading. It is also beautifully organized and the aesthetic is perfect! I am so happy that I just so happened to stumble past this little honey hole tonight and will be buying all of my new books here! Support local and keep reading! 💕📚

I wanted to browse some books on holistic health/nutrition and the girl working there took the time to pore over all the non-fiction relevant to what I was searching for. We ended up with a massive stack of books and she welcomed me to sit on the couch to read them over. It was a super relaxing and comfortable enviornment, had a great time! Absolutely adorable store! Though small, it packs a punch- we found children’s books we hadn’t seen other places, found some fiction and poetry, and also a non-fiction while on our road trip. Staff were incredibly friendly, let us participate in a community scavenger hunt, which had us discovering stores we had no idea were here since we were just passing though. Loved this place- highly recommend!

Stopped in on a Sunday wander through the East Village. Delightful atmosphere, an eclectic book selection, and a charming book lady at the counter. Found a marvelous book on The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs. So glad I ambled in.
