Just walking through the door of Beaverdale Books will make you feel at ease. It looks exactly how you picture the cozy bookstores in your favorite novels. Along with all the usual sections you want in a bookstore, they have a really cool selection of Iowa authors that I love browsing if I'm looking for something new! If you want something that's not on the shelves, you can request to order a book for pickup. It's really the best.

Beaverdale Books is a sweet little book store in the heart of one of the best neighborhoods in Des Moines. The selection is thorough, the staff well-read, and they are constantly involved with the community. Add to that the frequent author events, and it is a cannot miss stop for bibliophiles looking to buy local.

I love this local bookstore! They have fabulous customer service and great response time when ordering. If they don’t have a book in stock, they will do their best to find it & get it quickly. I have done so many orders throughout the pandemic & have really appreciated their quick & efficient curbside pick up.

I had to ask them for some orders to send to the USA because I'm in Europe, and they were very attentive, kind and patient. They looked for the books I asked for and sent them as quickly as possible. When I chose them I knew that I would not be wrong and I did not. Beaverdale Books is more than recommended, I am very grateful to them and I encourage everyone to buy them books, even if they do not live in that city, they will help you the same. Wonderful independent bookstore! It had the entire series of a popular kids book my son (age10) has been unable to find at the big box stores. He was over the moon to buy the remaining 3 volumes to complete his set! Unique and locally made gifts reasonably priced. Friendly, engaging and helpful staff. Hosts book signings and events. Definitely worth a visit! Thanks for a FUNtastic experience! We'll be back

I think it is probably great place, but covid is ruining it. I did buy a book, but was greeted at the door and had it practically slammed in my face by staff because I tried to walk in before I realized store is not open. I asked for a specific book which they had, thank you, but there was no way to browse and he did not ask if there anything else I wanted to see.

I love little locally owned bookstores, so I'm slightly biase. Little store packed with books run by a nice lady. She offered to order the book I wanted but I found something else instead. I will go back there if I'm ever in the area.

We have only been here twice so far, but we'll be back again and again. It's easy to forget how great going into an actual bookstore is, in the era of Amazon, but when my child has a whole nook with books she can look at, "try out" and ultimately decide on, I remembered quite quickly. The few that work there instantly know where the books are and what they have. They don't have to look it up on a computer. The shopping area it's in and the fact that is on a street with a bike lane make it easy to get to, and it is already easy to spend time and money within.

Excellent customer service! And very friendly, too. I just stopped in to purchase a required reading book for my sophomore son. They were sold out but will have a copy for me in just 4 days! That's fast and I shopped LOCAL not online! Thanks!

This bookstore might be one of the favorites in the Des Moines area. Clean, welcoming, well stocked, new titles, small but with enough selection. Great children's section and local writers section. Staff is attentive and friendly with recommendations. Great ju ju.
