2nd & Charles has a lot of books, mostly fiction, and essentially nothing that I care about. They have a great selection of vinyl, comic books, movies, Christian fiction, toys, and some oddball unexpected things like instruments and collectibles, but nothing that interested me monetarily. It would have been great if the computer section had anything more than the 5 non-technical books they carried, or if the science section was even that big - but hey if these books are all trade-ins, maybe those sections just sell out quick. I love that they had a board game section, but I didn't like the high prices. Overall, it's a nice store for people that aren't like me.

Great selection! Great layout. Nice atmosphere. This place would be 5 stars were it not for the condescending responses my daughter and I got from the employee we interacted with when we sold them a few old books. I'd never sold books to a 2nd-hand store before, but the young associate got all bothered that I didn't know how the process worked.

An enormous store. It has DVDs CDs, guitars, board games, comic books and books for sale. When I found out that the D&D books were selling for full price at $49.95, I initially felt jaded, but then I found out that this was for new books. I didn't see any used D&D books, but they did have CDs that were used at a fair price of $4. The amount of stuff that they had was amazing. They also buy stuff, but they only select things in near mint condition. It's a good brick and mortar store.

My absolute favorite place to shop for books, records and alot more. Yes, this is a used book store, but used doesn't have to mean poor condition! most items are in really great shape. Gigantic, diverse inventory and nicely marked aisles make it easy to find whatever you may want at super bargain prices. Highly recommended!

The store was absolutely massive with a wide selection of genres. They offer vinyl and music CD's. I also noticed a section for selling what you have in your personal collection. I would actually give a 4.5 if that option were available. My only gripe was the fact that out of all the second hand genres in stock, they didn't offer a collection of "spirituality". The closest thing I could find was a "religion" section which isn't the same thing. The front of the store offered what I was looking for, yet the entire section looked like it was ripped right of of books a million. Everything full priced and mainstream. Nothing special. Or truly interesting. Other then that, clean, massive store with a lot to offer the average shopper. Highly recommended 👌

Great place!! Like a cross between a Books-A-Million and a McKays used books (that we have in TN.) Lots of new books, used books, and fun gifts and collectables. You can't just drop off books to sell, it takes a few hours and they like you to do the process in one day (which is the same as McKays.) I didn't have that much time, so I dumped some decent books in the free bin outside instead.

I love this bookstore. I'm still getting used to their filing system though. My favorite part is the cool assortment of other items they offer for sale. It's also nice that you can sell books, movies, toys, etc here. You will not get much, even for new items, and you won't get an itemized receipt, but it helps declutter the house.

The book selection rivals most any book store. Great toy and collectibles selection. A lot of retro and cult classic memorabilia. A great place to find a gift for someone. My big pull is the DVD/BLURAY and album selection. Many out of print movies can be found within their thousands of disc. Old and retro album selection is huge. Remember that you can also trade some of your old items for money or in-store credit.

Very eclectic store with taste for anime fans, old game fans, comic book fans, or book enthusiasts. If you have never been here, I recommend that you come and check it out. On a personal note, I will say that the trade in offers that they have are not the best deals around. Unless you want to offload some games or movies you don’t want, I wouldn’t recommend never trading in here for store credit or cash. I love the store overall though!

I came here based on a recommendation from a Best Buy employee. I needed a power cord for an original Super Nintendo and they had one! This store caught me by surprise, they have a little bit of everything. Old school video games, guitars hanging on the wall, lots of books. I could have spent a lot more time here looking at everything they have on their shelved, but my kid was really excited to go back home to play the Nintendo. We definitely plan on coming back.

Wonderful hobby and book store. We're from it of state and always save room in our luggage so we can take extra home. Staff is friendly and very knowledgeable about everything from books to PS4 titles.

These stores are typically always wonderful. This location in particular has a nice staff and plenty of goodies. Will say the prices on electronics are high compared to other places. The store can sometimes be just a tad bit messy too but they are very busy. It a great weekend spot to to spend an hour or so.

The prices on books here are amazing, and the staff is phenomenal. I was able to find the entire set I was looking for at a great price. The option to trade in books and other items for store credit is awesome in and of itself, and I lost over an hour perusing video game systems, trading card games, vinyls, CD's, movies, music instruments, collectibles... oh, and of course the books. I could spend a day and a paycheck shopping here just for the atmosphere.

Love this place! Great ideas for gifts of all prices. Fantastic selection of books, and they don't bother you if you read them. Good calm places to read. Large selection of vinyl records. Great staff that is very willing to help. Could spend all day in there looking at all the different vinyls that they have in stock. They have an amazing stock of DVDs and books as well. Pretty good place for used items. Wish they had a database the customers could access instead of having to go to someone every time. Sometimes, I just want to browse a genre, but not sure of the author or title and since not everything is alphabetized, it makes it difficult to find most titles. Prices are decent for most things, though.

Normally love this place. However, today, 9-4-21 between 1 & 3pm the red head cashier was quite rude. Here's the deal, I clear 8000$ after taxes a month. Don't treat people like bums because their children took the day off from dressing well. For someone in your position, you might not want to be so judging.

Frankly, this is a really neat store. It's very open and airy, has an enormous selection of books, comics, games, albums, and trinkets. If you love any of those, you could spend hours in here browsing. I think the prices are fair, especially on used items and they regularly run specials (such as buy on book, get one free). 2nd & Charles is one of my favorite places to visit when I'm in the area!

It's a cool place that sells a lot of stuff you wouldn't find at a normal retail store. It has some new goods that are licensed products from different games, movies, TV show, etc. But the bulk of their inventory are the used products which include movies, music, video games, and books. You could easily spend an hour or more just going through all they have to offer.

I love this place a HUGE selection of books, music, media, toys. A little bit of everything. The prices are reasonable. This place is a geek's dream store! They have everything you can imagine! From used games, retro used consoles, books, comics, graphic t-shirts, toys, instruments, I talking about they have everything!!! The employees that work here are all very friendly, no one here tried to push me to try and join any memberships of any kind, no pressure to buy useless warranties.. this is store is everything that GameStop wishes it could be. BTW this place is massively huge for a used and new goods store. It's about the size of what Borders used to be. I love the people I here. Every employee here, that I have met so far, seems to enjoy their job, you can tell in the attitude in which they communicate with you. The prices are what you really fall in love with. The prices here range from fair to good depending what your buying. I highly recommend this store. Whoever is managing this location needs an award! They run a tight ship, and somehow they still manage to keep the employees happy. How do you beat that? 5 out of 5 stars!!!

The book and music selection is fantastic! love that they sell vinyls. The staff is very knowledgeable and tries their best to help you find what you need. However the 3 star review comes from the sell-trade aspect of this buy-sell-trade store, I have met very nice associates at their trade in desk and very rude ones. Recently an buyer associate practically shoed me out of the store like some kind of pest or rodent and was not willing to explain much of anything about the process and was very short with me, this woman was very rude and I hope for the sake of this business she is an outlier amongst their staff, I would love for management to reach out to me to discuss this in detail as customer service should be the most important aspect of any business and one rude employee can degrade the reputation of a whole franchise. Aside from this very rude staffer this is a great store for vinyls and books!

There's a good amount of books to choose from. It's very organized alphabetically by genre. They also have some games (like board games or video games). They have movies & cd's that you can choose from and toys for kids if you choose to buy something like that. Everything is reasonably priced and you can find some pretty good deals. I would highly recommend coming here.

Wiccan accessories, must go quick hard to find the right things you need at times, they usually have them stocked up by a couple weeks. Vast amount of collectibles and little hobbiest items one could use with their hobby. Just so much going on.

It's my favorite bookstore. Sometimes I just like to wander around and look at everything. I still listen to CDs and watch DVDs and they have a pretty good selection. I always find a good deal whether I'm buying books, music, or movies. I also like the front area that has odds and ends and quirky little gifts. They even sell music instruments, cool t-shirts, and incense here. They have a little bit of everything.

Good used book stores are getting hard to find. 2nd and Charles is thankfully still around. You can sell items there, but we haven't tried that yet. They have a huge selection of used books, DVDs, and CDs. Some collectibles and collectors stuff, and the usual assortment of pop culture things. Great kidxs' book area with a wide variety of old and new series. I love when I'm able to stumble across a book from my own childhood. It's a pretty big store so you can easily spend hours there. And they have great sales, like buy 2 get 1 and buy 1get 1. All in all its a great place if your looking for a new to you book or series.

This place is my happy place. I can find used books for a great price and in great condition. The staff is very helpful and take you directly to what you are looking for. They also sell new items. You can trade in your books you have lying around the house toward credit for a purchase in the store. They even have a free bin out front for you to dig into. Found quit a few movies that I have been looking for for years.

Very unusual place, lots of new and used stuff. There a junk box to dig through. Lots of books. The most movies on DVD I have every seen. they also have a large selection of records. I saw people bringing boxes of stuff to get a price for. They have large selection of pops also. The employees are friendly and helpful.

This is a pretty good bookstore, a very commercialized used book place. Imagine books-a-million with used books and new books alike. They sell novelty food, teeshirts, and games, and I believe they do offer trade credit for certain items. I managed to find a book I've been looking for forever for only a dollar. It's kind of messy, though, and sometimes the prices are sort of high.

I would rate higher but finding a particular book in the ever changing sea of titles can be tedious, if not impossible at times. If they had a mobile app or a number of in-store kiosks to assist with this effort shopping would be more enjoyable.

I find it absolutely impossible to visit without spending money and mourn the fact that my home town does not have a 2nd and Charles.

The best (only) book store you'll really find in irmo. Most of the staff is super friendly and helpful. You can find a lot of unique pics in their bookstore and movie selection. Their trade in value aren't always the best but that's to be expected whenever you trade something in. Only major complaint is despite having a very large book selection since it is for the most part almost all used books, sometimes you cannot find books you would expect to find because they haven't been traded in there. Also, they are lacking and the amount of theatrical plays that they possess.

This place is fine. Better than a big box bookstore because prices are so much lower for used books. They do probably have too much though if all you want is to shop for books. Definitely beware if you take a kid with you. Lots of temptations for the young'uns. Used records are rarely worth looking at and the new ones are very expensive. Good amount of comics and really good selection of graphic novels and omnibuses. Video game selection seems light at best, but I can imagine finding a steal in there.

I loved used books and cheap graphics and Columbia 2&C had both. Nice selection. As with every one of these I visit, the Pops are over priced but everything else seemed inline with other stores. Lots of nerdy stuff to geek over. Worth the 2hr drive to check it out. Will visit again in the future, hopefully.

One of the most Amazing stores I have ever been too, selling everything from musical instruments, to video games, and books, along with everything else in relation. All of the categories of merchandise they have to offer is reasonably priced and vast, and the customer service is amazing.

Went to sell some books, at least a 5 hour wait. No bins for books as they had done an inventory and used all the boxes for that. This is a great concept but not well executed. Either more staff or sellers only by appointment. I don't live near here so couldn't drop off and return later. Plus no bins.

It's an nice bookstore however remember it's got a lot of used stock. It was difficult to find the books I was looking for and ended up leaving and ordering it on Amazon anyhow. The staff was very kind and helpful though. This is a nice place to find a book if you don't have one already in mind that you need. If you just want to discover what books are there then a used bookstore is for you. However I typically already know what I want.

They have a good selection of books. Music is hit and miss, and now that vinyl is in again, they don't seem to care much about cds. My kids liked their games and gaming merchandise. Every so often they get some cool used musical gear in. Trading things in is, well, interesting. You drop off your trade in stuff to be appraised (you can wait in store or come back later) and they tell you yay or nay and what it's worth to them in cash or store credit. Outside the store is a "free" table. People put books, music, etc. there that they want to give away. Many people, when they can't trade their stuff in at the store, drop it on the table and keep it moving. I used to do that too until I found stuff that I put on the free table for sale inside the store. Now I donate that stuff to my local thrift stores. I still go to 2nd & Charles, but instead of it being a monthly thing, it's now a two or three times a year thing.

It's the only local bookstore we have anymore. The used books, CDs, and DVDs are in good quality with reasonable prices. I do wish they had a way for customers to look up what's in the store so you don't spend half an hour searching for something that isn't there. So it's great if you're just browsing for nothing in particular, but can be frustrating if you're searching for something specific.

Okay. So I've had such a hard time finding a store with comic books in SC. I've found some at books a million stores but this place has a huge selection compared to them. And a lot of older ones too, not just new ones. They have a lot of other cool stuff. They have new and used stuff for books, games, funko and other action figures/collectibles, comics, movies, and novelties. I think I even saw some instruments. Although it's 45 min away from me it's in a good location. Definitely a must go to.

Corporate book store owned by Books a Million. Rather sterile, poorly kept and understaffed. That said, they have a lot of inventory over a wide range of media. Saw an old Muddy Waters 33 1/3 condition unknown. Be prepared to spend some time looking for what interests you. Prices are reasonable. Worth a rainy afternoon.

I visit, but I've rarely found anything spectacular here. It probably depends on what you're trying to find. Everything used that they have is quite a bit more expensive than I'd like for a second-hand store. Their new stuff is just flat out too expensive in the age of Amazon, EBay, and Walmart. They do have some deals, though. Cd's, for those who still want them, are typically very cheap. Clearance items can yield good deals from time to time. Oddly, the free bin out front, where they discard items that they do not purchase, can be a goldmine. It's worth a visit every once in a while.

I love 2nd & Charles. That said, i also cannot stand them either. I would have liked to give a truly neutral rating but I opted to give a more positive rating than negative because they provide a huge a service to the communities they're in for the fairly good prices on books and other things. I am a swag junkie, although I dont typically buy a lot. 2&C always manages to have that one swag piece that i just want. 😆 The negative about them is that their business practices don't allow for them to pay very much for items sold to them. This does not encourage responsible recylcing. This is just my opinion, and it's rather basic. I dont usually dive into the "but they hurt the independent sale community" argument, but for small book stores and video game stores, places like this are killers. I will say that this particular store i visited is great as far as the principle of the store goes. Lots of stock, good customer service, clean, etc.

This is one of the best bookstores that I've ever seen. You can buy a new and used books here and all of the used books are in fairly good condition if not great condition. You can also buy records and CDs, DVDs, video games, consoles, musical instruments, and a lot of other interesting items as well. 2nd & Charles is almost like a cross between a bookstore and a pawn shop and has some of the best of both worlds.

2nd and Charles has been around for a while now. Not much has changed. Like any second-hand store, the selection is only as good as, and very closely reflects, the tastes of the local (regional) community. In this case, that's not a very promising or exciting prospect. That being said, I was surprised to find a couple of rarities that were exceptionally priced! But this is the same for any thrift store, and nothing distinguishes 2nd and Charles from other used media sellers. Their new release pricing is inflated to the point that no reasonable shopper would consider. Still, it's good for a stroll and browse. I could easily spend hours here, but only if I want to take a chance on wasting huge chunks of time. Sometimes, that's a great quality for a store to have. For this reason, it can be a date. You might find something.

While I don't like seeing corporate chains moving into the secondhand market, the single benefit of this store it the huge collection of used books. However, with such a large collection, organization suffers. You'll find general alphabetical order by section, but there's a good chance you'll really need to search for what you're looking for. However, there are rare gems and novelties to find for those willing to take the time. The DVD section is similar. Purchased a great Nightmare on Elm Street collection here. You'll also find used video games, used and new gaming systems, comics, new apparel, instruments, vinyl and a variety of fun gifts. The staff isn't particularly helpful or knowledgeable about content in my experience, but I don't generally need help in a place like this.

Great place to buy used books, comics and licenced products. Some of the new stuff is a little more expensive than other places, but you can't beat the deals on the used books, which are usually in really good shape. The only other downside is that because they primarily deal with used products, it's can be really hit and miss when you're looking for something specific. But reguardless, I highly recommend checking it out.

Great selection. Great prices. Great customer service. Greeted three times after walking in the door. Very friendly staff who seem anxious to help a lost person (like myself). And they even have a huge selection of PS2 Games. They open used disks and let you view them at the register before you actually purchase. The only thing I would suggest is that they invest in some Renuzit, or Glade, or perhaps burn some of that incense they sell. I know it's not their fault, but some of these books emit an odor that smells like grandpa's third day socks. Perhaps a charcoal HEPA filter in the A/C ventilation?

This is a great place if you like to browse Books, Music, Movies or games (or stuff related to them!). Plus you don't have to spend a lot to get a lot. There are THOUSANDS of possibilities and an ever changing, rotating selection. What's not here today may be tomorrow. Need to clear out some stuff - bring it in for either store credit OR CASH. I just saw a hard bound book released in October selling for $26 on one of the shelves for just $6!!! They have those grocery store rolling baskets with the long handles so you don't have to lug around all your finds. There are also several comfortable chairs scattered about to look over your finds or just get off your feet for a bit. A great way to spend a portion of a rainy day - of course you'll want to spend the rest of it snuggled up with your favorite hot beverage and your new finds!

If she had set it flat on the counter she would have seen it was not warped, but she held it in her hand and bent upward and said it was warped. This was just one of a series of hardback books. The Wheel of Time books by Robert Jordan. These books are being made into a TV series and I think people will want to read the books. I wanted to see what they would offer. Never going back.
