Reviews of Speaking Volumes Books
I asked the owner if there were any books on karate and he proceeded to jump the counter and karate kick my dog. He then told me I wasn't worthy of his karate knowledge and that I would need to leave my mug of tea by the door. Books are great, German accent is stern and soothing, fairly confident there is buried treasure in the back left corner of the store.
1 star for my dead dog
5 for the karate lessons

What an interesting bookstore! Found books galore! Owner is very friendly and well versed in his wares. A great place to stop and look. Glad I did!
Great variety of rare editions as well as mass-market new releases. Plenty of parking.
Highly recommend for everything they do, but especially the stereo repair services. Wow! My 60's Realistic receiver had a dead channel, and not only did Winfield fix this, but he also cleaned it up and now it looks as good as it sounds. Thanks y'all!
I brought in a CD player that wasn't working. Showed them the part that had broken off and he quickly determined it wasn't worth fixing. He had some used one for sale at great prices, bought one, very nice guy carried it to my car for me. The new/used player works awesome!!
Speaking Volumes is a wonderful establishment. My boyfriend and I visited over the summer. They had an eclectic mix of books, art, and knick knacks. My boyfriend really liked one of the pieces. Months later I emailed to see if they still had the piece. Lol and behold they did! Norbert and Ben were lovely to do business with along the way. We will definitely be back to visit this store !
I have a 1986 Pioneer A-88X (one of the best amps Pioneer ever made) that was sounding pretty bad....channels would cut out randomly, static response from the controls, and unequal levels between left and right channels.
After a few days with these folks, my amp came home sounding like it was supposed to, and better than it had been in recent memory. It sounds amazing...with a clarity and brilliance I had forgotten it had. The charges were very reasonable, and the work is topnotch. It only needed a good cleaning...he did not take advantage and say it was more than that...my respect.
Highly recommended!!!!!!!!
Excellent place very clear that the books are cared for and was able to find some cool books that are going to make great gifts!
Speaking Volumes has wonderful vinyl record collection. I've found 60s rock, opera singers that I love and can't find recordings for, plus of course repairs. I loved browsing, and saw some stuff I didn't know I wanted. Prices fair and reasonable. 5 stars for vital contribution to Vermont music and arts scene.
I love it here!! They have an amazing selection.
A cool, laid back place to indulge your book curiosities. A throwback to the 70's styled book stores & a very knowledgeable & beautiful store keeper as well.
Great shop full of gems, mostly used. Good prices on jazz but everything else is $2-6 more than anywhere else. Tons of audio equipment, too, which seem like the primary source of income, tbf. Set aside at least an hour to get a good dig in.
Wow. What an impressive collection of books, new and old. Eclectic vibes and a wide selection.
Great bookstore! Always come here on my trips to Burlington. Impressive selection
Great selection of albums. Only place in central Vermont that repairs stereo equipment. Worth a visit.
Man at the front was quite rude to both my sons when they asked a straightforward question, and again when they went to buy a record. The selection was OK, the prices were on the high side.
Cool place...lots of classic vinyl....CDs and tapes too....
Fantastic place to get used books at great prices!
Just go here don't read this go
