Reviews of Barnes & Noble
Loved the set up of this store. Bought a new board game, they had such a wide variety of different kinds of games. However, I went to this store with the intention of buying a distilling book, which they did not have any books on the topic. I also went to use their upstairs bathroom and it was like entering the world's sketchiest NYC subway restroom. There was an entire roll of brown paper towels in one toilet, and the other stall was covered in graffiti and what I am hoping was just some mud on the floor. I was shocked that I went from browsing in a luxurious, beautiful looking store, to a third world country latrine just upstairs. Also, the toilet paper had the same texture that of P60 grit sandpaper.
A classic branch of the popular bookstore Barnes & Noble, per usual the branch offers Starbucks coffee but this one have a music department which actually sells CDs and vinyls... One have to admit that this is pretty cool.
Conveniently located just across the University Mall with apple parking and per usual helpful stuff and knowledgeable people around.
This place is so nostalgic for me, so maybe I'm a bit biased, but I love it here. Warm lighting, peaceful atmosphere and two floors of selection, this is a great hangout for readers and people who just want a quiet spot to relax. What a cute place. :]
Took book in to exchange a couple days after Christmas; very helpful and efficient. Employee knew the ropes with returning one book, getting the credit and applying to another book. Check-out was quite speedy, too.
I love that there is a Starbucks inside and plenty of areas to browse through. Lots of great books and everything else for every member of the family. I enjoy being there.
Going strong!
I have my device in my hand...a lot, but there is no substitute for a real book, or a real magazine...plus they have snacks and good coffee!
I've always loved Barnes & Noble.
The store is huge! Well stocked with pretty much anything you might need. Would have gotten 5 stars but the restroom is disgusting and smells really bad. Not well kept at all.
We stop by here every time we visit Vermont. Last stop before driving home. Nice Cafe and lots of fun stuff to see. But they lose points because the last time we went, restrooms were brutal.
What can I say it's barnes and noble great staff great selection plus the Cafe it's definitely my favorite spot to get books when in Burlington
It's heart-warming to see Barnes & Noble bookstore & cafe still thriving in businesss. A real bookstore where you can actually touch, smell, and browse books is a rare haven these days. It's a welcoming place where you can get great coffee, tea, and pastries.
I've always loved this location. Currently there are no tables or anywhere to sit upstairs though (only the cafe area has seating)
This bookstore is massive and wonderful. Great selections of every genre. I also love the plethora of stem educational games and projects available.
By far my favourite bookstore. I miss it terribly and cannot wait to go back. Clean, friendly staff and the best coffee shop with delicious baked goods.
It's a nice blend of grand and cozy. They just renovated the Starbucks which has a large selection of baked goods
Pretty much the only big bookstore around. I go there for their kid selection. Most of my own books come from online orders as this store doesn't have much on subjects of my interest.
Walk in the door and you've arrived to see two huge escalators with impressive amounts of books in every inch of the store except the music and cafe! I felt like I'd died and gone to heaven!
A bit massive and overwhelming. I'd have liked anyone at the guest services desk but no one was there. Hunted for a long time trying to find which corner the restrooms were in. Finally had to ask.
Found a music CD upstairs in the book section tried to return it to guest services but no one was there so I left it. Need an in-store map or on line. It's so overwhelming it was hard for me to figure out where books were I was interested in.
I'll definitely go again. This time I bought nothing.
Everything about the library is great except for the guy working in the starbucks cafe. Not professional attitude!
Got some cool new albums while enjoying my lovely starbucks winter cold brew.
As per usual - found many new books and they had my overseas magazines on the shelf. We shall return. Thank you.
Didn't carry some of the books I was looking for-will have to order online. Had a problem with B&N Kids Club & regular membership didn't get applied initially. Customer service woman, Scotia, was very, very helpful & resolved all issues. So nice to get friendly, pleasant service person- old time service-rarity these days.
It is the best place in the area to buy books. They have an extensive selection of genres to choose from.
Best book store ever! I love books and this is definitely a place to get books! It's huge! So many books! They have so many books to choose from for all ages!
Coolest barns and noble I've seen. It's huge, has two stories.
One of my favorite Christmas Shopping stores.
Nice atmosphere, good selection. A bit hard to find specific things since they rearranged, but I don't go too often so I am generally unfamiliar with the new layout. Somewhat expensive, but the bargain area is fantastic!
Easily the best book store in Vermont. They have everything you could ask for in every genre.
Went in looking for a specialty book on the perfect aminos (amino acids)...wasn't on the shelves--really didn't expect it to be; but pleasant girl in customer service found it and ordered it. It will come right to our house...how can it be better than that. Except maybe if my wife would have authorized me to buy some of their pastries there. Love this place. When the snow starts flying I plan to go there and veg-out...maybe eat bad things too
I always enjoy going to Barnes and Nobles, browse the books, get a java chip frap, great afternoon
So many different things, board games, music, books of course, great gift ideas, cafe, fidgets, Wi-Fi, quite enough to do work, read and see all the things I didn't mention. Go and find out for yourself. I mentioned what my son and I are interested in.
Relaxing atmosphere if you just want to get away from the busyness of the world for a while and get a little work done on your laptop or cozy up in the Cafe with a book.
I hope they fix the escalator! Best place to find a wide variety of books, toys, games, puzzles, and gifts.
This is my first stop whenever I go to South Burlington... I can spend hours in any Barnes & Noble.
Bibliophile!! GR8 vibes
Can always get lost in the books! Clean, organized, friendly staff
In the age of the bookstore being increasingly harder and harder to find, landing in one that is as quality as this one is an absolute book lovers dream.
Back in the day, Barnes and Nobles could be found in almost any small city to having MULTIPLE locations in every major city. Now, with 450 stores and plans to close down to 197 stores this year, it's becoming increasingly harder and harder to find these monoliths of literature and espresso. Fortunately, for those of us who live close enough to Burlingon Vermont to enjoy the Barnes and Nobles, that still exists for all local book lovers to visit, grab a coffee and purchase their favorite books.
The staff is very helpful and cheerful, the facility itself was very clean/organized, and I found that the selection of books and oddities was contemporary and diverse. The real treasure about Barnes and Nobles is the access they have to such an array of specialty items. Games, collectibles, hobby kits, etc. can be found in almost every section of the two story business.
They also feature a very helpful "2nd hand section" that offers a smaller selection of all sorts of varying genres of literature. This is especially handy for those who may be running a bit low on cash, but still want or need something to read.
I gave Barnes and Nobles 5 stars because I support ALL places that still make reading a priority for all ages and because I truly believe that this particular Barnes and Nobles really tries to go above and beyond all fronts.
A clean, bright bookstore with quite a broad collection of books.
So nice to have a real bookstore....keep it!!!!!
Selection of books is quite abysmal considering the size of the building. The books are overpriced as well.
Amazing place , a must stop for books.
Clean and neat. Nice place to browse and sip. The cards and gifts here are really nice. Chocolates by Godiva too. Oh, Lego kits!
Decent selection, relatively knowledgeable staff. There is no place to nestle in and read, which is disappointing. One of the staff members truly went above and beyond to help me find an obscure book when I could not remember the name- that was really impressive. Fifth star would be awarded if they put in a couple comfy chairs or a couch- it wouldn't be hard to sanitize and it would make peoples rainy days.
Early morning so not a lot of staff but I got help quickly when I couldn't find a book! Very efficient and friendly
A great spot to pick up a book. The store itself is nice and spacious with a Starbucks cafe in the corner. Great sales after the holidays. Always fun to browse and find something new. Staff is passionate about books and often have a few great recommendations up their sleeve. The music/movies selection is also great, with a nice deep vinyl/LP section; deals can be found. Membership has been worth it for us.
Had some neat overpriced last minute Christmas gifts. I forgot my mask at home and was receiving all kinds of dirty looks from the staff even though I'm vaccinated and boosted. I generally wear my mask but I think they were making assumptions about my personal feelings on the matter. Could've done without that.
We got lucky to arrive when the store wasn't overly busy. It was late and the store manager was working putting out freight and helping customers. We will probably go back to this store again. It is worth the trip to get what we want in a well stocked bookstore
Big, well-lit, and has a cornucopia of books, magazines, and other great items. Highly recommended to visit this B&N location…!
They didn't have any of the books I was looking for, popular well known books. I fell when I was getting on the escalator and NO ONE came to see if I was ok. On the top floor they have no seating at all which isn't a very accessible thing. Other then all that it's a beautiful bookstore and the employees I did talk to were nice.
The Godiva chocolate cheesecake is absolutely the best! Great selection of books and magazines. Prices can be a little high but the atmosphere is awesome
Wide selection of new and used books, music and movies. Lots of toys, puzzles and science kits!
Great store. Wonderful employees. They are very kind, and quite knowledgeable. They have always been very helpful and nice any time I have gone in there. There is a wonderful section where they sell used books, and I tend to spend a lot of time in that section. I have found some great books, and series back there.
Parking can be a little difficult at times, but that would be my only complaint. It's definitely a place I would recommend, and I go back as often as I can. (Considering I'm from out of town.)
Updating my review from 1 to 4 stars because the new manager is very nice to his employees. It makes for a much nicer experience. The employees are much nicer than they used to be. It's been awhile since we had fun at the SB Barnes and noble. Even renewed my membership.
Books! Cafe! Music! Being a writer... This store inspires me to want to have one of my writings on their shelves... Nice, clean bookstore. Shelves are organized neatly, so finding what you are looking for is extremely convenient...Barnes & Noble.... You make a reading, writing, or music enthusiast want to spend the day in your store... JDR...
Always A Great Place. We Travel over 2 hours to get here. The kids love the store. Staff is always very knowledgeable. Prices are on point. Customer service is as expected. Someone is always there to answer questions or lend a helping hand. This is the kind of store and service that brings you in instead of using Amazon to get it easier. And there is a Starbucks here!
Very large store with a great selection of books. Staff is plentiful and helpful. Nice areas & furniture to relax with a book, laptop, friend. Have cute trinkets, reading accessories, candles, journals, calendars and a really good little bakery, deli with Starbucks made coffees also. Has an escalator to get upstairs too!
Love this place. Always find something I "have to have" even when I dont. Starbucks located inside is always a bonus as well. It's usually clean. People are always helpful.
There's nothing like browsing in a bookstore. I love all of the books but also the cards, calendars, writing objects, and much more. I didn't go in planning to buy Christmas cards but guess what I walked out with?
Very nice store. Staff was AMAZING both at the Starbucks Cafe and at the checkout. Super knowledgeable and was recommending books based off what I purchased. Very friendly and nice!
We went in specifically looking for a Funko and were pleasantly surprised by the selections in all selections! Lots of board and card games, used books! (something you don't see in Canada, so bonus on you guys!), toys and Funkos, even a little cafe. Very nice!
Although I love used book stores and support Indies - The Barnes and Noble is a place I love to treat myself to. I live across the state - and when I have to come for a few times a year for supplies and specialty foods - I try to have two hours or more just to relax and explore. It is two stories high - offering comfortable seating where one can take a pile of books and explore them. They have a great selection of magazines, tech, history, literature, religious, new age, health, exercise and children's books. They have an amazing collection of music. AND on the first floor - in back - is a large room of sale books and items. They also have a great coffee/cafe to sit with a coffee and treat - and /or take a coffee for the drive home dreaming of getting into the books you have just bought! Excellent service from the friendly staff!
It’s been a while since I have been in a Barnes & Noble bookstore. It is a big store, pleasant and quite space, organized and cleaned.
There is book for everything. Amazing sale's towards the back on the first floor. There is also movies and cds on the second floor. This is the ideal bookworms paradise. Currently the escalator is not working but they do have the elevator!
this place has so much to offer, from new books, used, collectible, rare, children's books and toys, clearance books. by far this is my favorite place to go for books. they also have a cafe and electronic gadgets. always worth the trip. they even have an escalator and elevator. did I mention free WiFi!
what more do you need from a place that has everything for everyone on your list.
Always happy to be in any Barnes & Noble but this one is especially interesting in that they have a large amount of square footage dedicated to used books. Often pickup books in this section on topics I wouldn't otherwise purchase. This is a favorite place to spend time.
A great space with lots of cozy places to read. Their children's area is great too. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. A good used book and clearance section is available. And they serve consistently good coffee, which is rare in Vermont.
Great bookstore that has been a long time favorite for my family. My kids always get so excited they can't stand it. Weekly storytime sessions for the younger kids, coffee for the adults, and books books books for everyone! They take pre order, too so you can make sure you have your newest book from your favorite author on day one!
Nice big bookstore, has everything. Went to a guy for help finding a book. I had the author but not the title, so he went to his database & started reading down the list of titles till he jogged my memory, then took me right to the spot. Nice café inside too. And they had the Mueller report for only ten bucks.
One of the best Barnes and Noble stores I've been to, particularly due to it's used book section that I haven't found in any other stores. Unfortunately this is the only thing that makes the prices of their books competitive against the tough adversary of online retailers. The atmosphere of the store is nice, with plenty of available seating, depending on the time of day.
Very comfortable nice book selection
It's a book store. You know it's probably not going to be around in a few years and it already sort of feels like visiting a museum, but sometimes you just want to page through books and magazines for free. Maybe I'm way off base here but I see it as a nostalgic trip down memory lane to a time before Jeff Bezos owned the entire retail world. It was a fun twenty minutes.
Good place to get away from a hard day. Plus they have a wide variety of books, and magazines. There is a coffee shop within it as well where people can sit and enjoy their caffeinated beverages and socialize.
Every city should have a 2 story Barnes & Noble! Of course once again I left with a bag of books I had to have!
Great open layout of the store with loads of distancing for the Cafe and the book store. Great staff was very helpful when I couldn't locate the book I came in for. Love this place!
Customer service was very helpful but the cashier when I was checking out was not very pleasant. She spoke really fast about the membership and then was annoyed when I clarified that I would have to pay for the membership. She said vary pointedly to me "Like I Said..." Well maybe if she didn't sound like a robot and spoke slower I would have realized what she was saying. If it wasn't for the lady at customer service I think I would have said nevermind I'll buy my books online from some other book store.
These store are rare and it shows. Wish it had starbucks lol
Gem for all the bookworms/music lovers/Anime enthusiast
Very nice clean and spacious environment. Great for taking some time to yourself and enjoy perhaps reading a book while enjoying a cup of coffee that they sell in store. Or even if you want to get out for a bit and settle into a peaceful and quiet environment and use their free WiFi to do anything like homework,etc..
Everyone was nice, knowledgeable, and my book was on sale.
This Barnes & Noble is two stories with a great selection, very helpful staff, and a cafe. The store also includes a music + movies/tv section upstairs and a used and rare book section downstairs. While I do not have children, it looks like the children's and young adults sections have plenty of books, toys and games to choose from. Also, the store puts on weekly storytime for kids. I really like the layout of the store as well as it feels like a nice bookstore and not box-mart for books. I have moved from the area, but this Barnes & Noble was always a nice spot to find gifts or have indoor dates with my significant other.
Very nice selection of books, magazines, and games. The few times I’ve asked questions and/or needed assistance from any of the B&N employees they’ve always been polite and friendly. I usually go into the bookstore every few weeks to shop and get a hot tea from the cafe.
It's your average bookstore. Decent selection, generally helpful staff. One of my favorites is the taller older gentleman who's worked there for years, gray hair, great fellow. The cookies in the cafe are something to be avoided, even despite the current bogo offer. Chose a cupcake instead. Cafe has been updated recently, new counter tops, more outlets, lots of hustle and bustle on weekends. Rainy days are crazy busy here. I prefer going earlier in the day.
Great used book selection. I was able to find something for myself, and something for my mother. The staff is very friendly, the store is very clean and everywhere I looked I found something that I wanted to buy.
I was in awe of this particular B&N since I've never been into one that big. Two levels, escalators, eatery, discounted books room...lots and lots of everything, except, unfortunately what I was looking for. Not big on Christian books, but then again it's VT. Not a lot of craft or gardening books either, which was surprizing to me, and lacking in a few other genres, but over all, one could spend days and days browsing. Place was busy, clean and the staff was incredibly accommodating. A must go to book store!
The lady up front was so helpful. She answered every question that my 14 and 11 year old asked. She showed us exactly where we could fine every book we were looking for. Thank you
I hope that Barnes & Noble is able to stick around and continue doing what they do. I used to frequent Borders book stores before they became BAM. This book store is really wonderful and I try to frequent it when I'm in Burlington. They always have great books/activity books for kids, their kids book section is really nice. The bargain book area is great, and the selection and variety is really wonderful with exception to the manga books as that's hit or miss when I go, lately more miss. But overall very clean, very nice store.
Amazing store best toys ever
Staff was rather disinterested and disdainful. I don't tolerate that kind of attitude when I purchase services or products, so I will not be going back to their cafe.
A wonderful selection of new and used books
We LOVE the kids section. Everything is sorted by reading level instead of Genre, so it helps them resist the urge to pick out books that may be out of their level. We can go right to their level and find books they are interested in!
Barnes and Noble is an amazing bookstore and I love spending time in it!
Great bookstore with plenty of seating to take time with your next literary find! There is an extensive used book section in the back. I've always been able to find a good book-on-CD before a long roadtrip. The on-site Starbucks is a bonus when you have time to warm up with a cup o' joe and a muffin.
Would be 5 stars if they would get rid of the toys. Brought my 5 year old grandson to get a book but of course he got distracted by the toys. If I wanted to take him toy shopping I would have brought him to a toy store... Took a lot to get him refocused on getting a book. Just won't bring the little ones here anymore.
We come here for birthday presents and rainy days. It's a good place to wander and seek out new books. The shelves are well stocked and maintained. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Books, books and more books. This place is awesome for anybody who lives reading. There are other little items that you wouldn't think about going to a book store for, like, puzzles, toys and board games. There is a cozy little coffee shop inside and many places to cuddle up and read.
I love this store it's beautiful, large selection of everything, there is a Starbucks in the store, it's very nice. Unfortunately being helped and find someone for customer service is almost impossible. I must have waited 10 minutes at the service counter no one ever came. Then i looked on the floor couldnt find any employee. The used book section seems great but it's impossible to find something in it. And no one to help... and they dont keep any inventory of it. So i hope you have a lot of time to search. Still love that place but the customer service sucks.
This Barnes and Noble is pretty big. Honestly kind of surprising to see a retail book store with with a physical location this large anymore.
A bit expensive, but there are plenty of books. Props for used book purchases/sales and having sit down areas to enjoy your purchases.
I absolutely love Barnes and Noble. They have the best magazine selection in the Burlington area. The employees are very polite.
Great selection of books and music! Also has a star bucks in the lobby, great place to find a new book and to grab a drink.
Awesome store. So much more than books. There are tons of games and other things. My kids think the escalators are as cool as the games there. So much to look through. Huge store.
I love books. Paper in my hand books. B&N have a lot of books! Many sales. The "club" costs like, 25$? 20$? Depends on the promotion of the day. They have non-book gifts, Pokemon, stuffies, mugs, the BEST Star Wars action figures... and a cafe too. The club membership works online as well, so if you buy books for people, it's probably worth it. 10% off your purchase when you sign up soooo... you do the math. Plenty of parking. Visible from the road (Dorset St). Near entrance/ exit from 89.
Nice store friendly people quiet.well I wrote this year's ago .probaly the same .i don't go in as much ..
Went to do some paperwork at the cafe. Comfortable and quiet. But found that the Starbucks is owned and run buy Barnes & Noble. Could not use my Starbucks card or account.
It's one of the only bookstores left in my community. The staff is always very helpful and congenial. It has a lovely cafe to just sit and read. There's nothing better than being in a bookstore in my opinion.
Starbucks cafe, magazines, and a decent manga section make this Barnes an interesting stop. The variety of books is pretty decent, but there are obvious holes in their collection for certain types of art and technology. The elevator and escalator make accessing the second floor easy for everyone. :)
Beautiful! Excellent used book section with clear color coded pricing! Decently priced cafe, great for brunch and a book on a calm day!! Wonderful, knowledgeable, helpful employees!
Great place to just get a book and chill
SO MUCH THERE! This had one of the largest selections of books, seeing as it was two stories. But they had so many knick knacks too ot was great. Theres also a section for used books that was phenomenal; ranging from $1 to 50% off if I'm remembering correctly. It is absolute heaven for book nerds like me! Even a section to look out the window while you sit and read or do work!
Having to in store pickup because their system can't handle price matching between their sites and stores is dumb and time wasting. I had to be there an extra 20 minutes just waiting for my online order to go through.
Staff was great, though. They came and found me when my order was ready, and were otherwise helpful.
Great customer service! I was looking for a particular book and could not find it in the two sections it should have been in. I ask customer service and they went back upstairs for me and found it!
The design and feel of this Barnes & Noble is great. It has a second story with you access by escalator. There is a lot of room to read , there is a Kidzone, and a music section. on my most recent visit I noticed in the music section they have a large selection of vinyl records. This location also has a Barnes & Noble Starbucks café ( which is not a true Starbucks. this is a good thing to remember for a Starbucks person.)
When I go to Burlington, it's always the first place I go. Especially for Criterions movies, they have a huge selection for these. Place has a second floor with alot of toys, comics, music, books. I wish we had this kind of store in Canada. The prices are ok. Go there during the 50% off Criterion sale you will be in heaven !!! It's just across the mall also
Books are my thing! Love bookstores. Rating is for the fantastic girl at the register. Overcrowded store, too many people shopping for the holidays and this girl was all smiles and efficiency. Enjoyed spending money at her register!
Great place and help, very pleasant people
One of our area's last, large, book and periodical stores. The internet has certainly put a large dent in their sales, but I for one, still find that it's much more pleasurable to actually thumb through a book and literally judge it by it's cover so this store is still an oasis for that. They have a great selection of magazines, especially on very specific, specialty topics, that you just don't ever see on regular newsstands. I can browse their shelves for hours and get a good feel on a new book before I buy it in a way that I for one, just can't get from reading a few excerpts over the internet. The staff is friendly and very helpful. They also are one of the few places left in our area where you can still buy new DVDS, CDs, Bluerays, and even new vinyl records.
Such an awesome place for everyone. Free wifi, chairs to relax in, plenty of books, gadgets, and toys to browse over. Plus has an escalator which the kids (an most adults) love to ride!!!!
I love looking at books and buying books. Nothing beats a real book. Also, they have an amazing area for kids so my daughter had a blast looking at all the books and toys!
Was looking for a book on being able to handle my out-of-control two year old and the woman who work there was so informed she brought me right to where I needed to be and picked out three different books she thought could help me. I definitely recommend this place to everybody if you need to get any type of book whatsoever.
Love the selection, and everyone is so easy to ask for help
Booking and shelves. No barns and no Nobles to be found which is unfortunate. Can't believe I went here and found none. The workers were cool though so I'll accept it.
Books of every kind, games, magazines, cards, gifts, music, coffee and pastries galore! I could spend hours at Barnes and Noble, and often do! Comfy sofas here and there for reading and a large selection of discounted books in the back make it a great place to hang out and biblio-binge!
Incredible store, a must visit if you're in town. You will definitely feel t home here, the service is very friendly and a very nice store altogether. Huge selection of every kind of book you can imagine!
I love this store! Every time I walk through the doors, it's like coming home. It's a great place to bring kids, to instill the love of reading early and to encourage a life-long love of reading.
Its a well organized and clean store. I found what I was looking for pretty fast. Would have been 4 stars if i didn't have wait in line so long before the cashier had the idea to call for backup.
Large store, lots of variety. I enjoy looking through the used section although some categories like mystey were really lacking in volume. 2 floors and has a Starbucks cafe in the bottom. Small selection of puzzles, board, games, calendars, leather journals, etc.
Who doesn't love Barnes and Noble? What about a massive, 2 floor Barnes and Noble? This is one of the hugest B & N I've ever seen. Everything you can think of is here. They also have a Starbucks cafe. Starbucks gift cards are not accepted, however.
Very large volume of books of all discretion.
This store is nice. Would be nice if they had coupons for none members available. The coupons for the Starbucks inside sometimes don't work, which is why not giving 5 stars.
Has always been a great place for books, magazines, gifts & games. Now even better for having in place hand sanitizer stations and mandatory mask wearing to keep us all safe.
Great store. I could have spent hours there.
Love book stores, this place is big two stories, escalator and elevator. There's a Starbucks in it and places to sit.. great place to browse for books, sit and read, great kids section upstairs
Great used and discounted book section (no catalog though). I've spent all day here before reading, studying, or buying gifts. They offer a wide selection and the staff know where to find what you are looking for!
Went in looking for a book that my daughter wantes for her bday, I for one hate books and dont go to bookstores... They put everything in alphabetical order and they have an amazing variety. I even grabbed a book for my 8mo son. Owl diaries acquired and I can now say, I bought books...
although selection is limited compared to online being able to actually handle a book and see its physical size and look through it is often invaluable. Also the additional reading related accessories and CDs are interesting to look through.
Awesome selection and great prices....
First off, let me say something positive. Their selection is usually very good, and their ordering process is top notch; stuff arrives quickly, I get notified promptly, and I'm usually able to get in and pick up what I ordered right away; it's great. Their rewards program is also one of the better ones out there. Sure, it costs $25 a year, but with the 10% discount and the NUMEROUS 20%-off coupons, I find that I save well over what I pay.
That said, there is a downside: The staff arrangement. Not the staff themselves, they're all nice, but the way the store's got them set up.
You see, back when Borders was around, they sorted their staff based on the employee's interest. Movie buffs were working the DVD section, comic nerds were in the graphic novel area, music nerds worked the CDs. It was great because you could go in there, strike up a conversation with one of the employees, and you'd find that they were PASSIONATE about the stuff they were selling. It was a great experience all around.
B&N...not so much. They've got their comic and TCG fans up at the registers, the movie buffs working stocking/sorting, and the people they alwayls have to call to help out at the register (who are actually very good at that) end up covering the science fiction section (which they don't know much about). The environment ends up feeling...very dry, and not all that warm from a personal standpoint.
Growing up, my favorite fantasy was to dream that one day, I could live in this Barnes and Noble with all the books and quirky accessories for avid readers. Not having been able to achieve this lofty goal (yet) I make it a point to stop in whenever possible for the reading selections and environment, a reader's delight and quiet safe haven to read the afternoon away in.
First of all I really love this store. When I go in to buy books the staff is very good and polite, but when I went into the Nook department to ask if they could help me fix my brothers Nook there was no one there. When I asked a sales associate they told me the person in charge was on the phone! I even saw her on her personal phone! When she finally came over after making me wait for over 15 minutes she had a bad attitude like it was an inconvenience helping me. In the end she told me very rudely that they no longer fixed the type of Nook I had. Instead of apologizing she just walked away!
I forgot to pack my reading book. Stopped in hoped they had a book by A.W. Tozer to my surprise they had a three in one book. They took three of his books and Baker Publishing Group make one large published book. Nice that Barnes&Noble carried Tozer's books.
Simply amazing! I love visiting the store. Great selection of books, a place to get coffee or other things like that, and friendly people.
Expansive book store with excellent selection of magazines, books and gifts, plus a back area of sale items. Adjacent cafe has tons of natural light to enjoy coffee and the book you just purchased
Always a good stop for browsing to see what’s new, while enjoying some coffee from Starbucks.
Large selection of books, franchise material, and educational resources. I never feel pressured to purchase, but I often find keepers while they patiently allow guests to explore the shelves.
Pretty large for a Barnes and Noble! Loved looking through the discounted and used book section as well! Great place to find a bargain on some interesting books.
Great store! My daughter loves getting books from there. Every year for her birthday & Christmas we get her a gift card from Barnes & Noble!
Decent prices on some things, but where they shine is with the used books. You can find some real gems for a dollar a piece! Also got some funko pop figures for $2 on clearance! I'll be back!
It's a chain book-store. Friendly folks, good selection, and yes a Star-Many-Bucks-Cafe built-in to get your caffeine-fix taken care of. Seriously, there is not anything too amazing about the joint to make note of, but it's a solid example of the kind. Clearly, I go there (and actually purchase books and other stuff). Books. Look and touch before you purchase (yay!) . Still, it's not a locally-owned retailer like say, Phoenix Books. B-n-N is a corporate entity, and thus a 'shareholder-value-above-all-else' kinda place, but it does not seem like an evil machine when ya walk in. Probably less evil than 'The Amazon'. Maybe. At least they are not making plans (that I am aware of, anyway) to drop books from drones...
B&N is one of my favorite spots - I can do work on my laptop or read in the comfy chairs. I like to look for books on professional & personal development, and can enjoy my member discounts on everything, including cafe items.
Glad to see a B&N still open! Nice people and tons of books 📚 …
Looking for books for great grandson. Found a couple board books. Safe for 2 year old
The staff are very friendly very clean place to shop if you needed help the staff was there to help you love having Starbucks in there for a quick coffee and a little bite to eat all in all it’s always a great experience we come from Rutland so it’s always a great experience
Best sellers.... I love reading and and the adventures that reading takes you to almost as good as meditation.
I didn't get a chance to go into the Barnes section since it was overbooked but the Noble section was open and consisted of many stories.
Good and huge selection of books and related items. Staff very helpful, prices good also manual membership if you want reduces the cost even more
Huge store that is hundreds of miles away from my home. I appreciated one Female clerk's help on finding filmmaking books. Had fun browsing through the mags. Upstairs has the music shop that stocks semi-decent variety of vinyl and c.d.s. Got Jimi Hendrix remastered & Donald Fagen albums-NICE car cruisin' soundtracks!
Well stocked and great vibe
This is a really nice store with two levels of books. My Granddaughter loves going here to see what is new. Lots of sales and a nice snack area.
Love this place if they don't have a book u want they can usually find it for you. And order it.
Your typical Barnes and Noble, I was a little dissapointed that it had sloped curbs and handicapped parking but no automatic door for people who use walkers/wheelchairs/strollers. It was impossible to get through the doors unassisted.
Beautiful place. Friendly staff.
I always make sure I stop by B&N in Burlington, not just for the books but also for a better and often discounted selection of board games. They also have respectable list of titles for the connaisseurs.
My daughter found a bunch of books she wanted, pretty quick. Quick checkout too.
Maybe the biggest or best Barns&Noble still around, the staff is super nice and helpfull. The bathrooms are upstairs, and there is a Starbucks inside. There are some magical seats upstairs for chillin also
I am still amazed that this franchise survives the Amazon onslaught. Going in there, it is very clear why - a beautifully designed branch, with a rich Starbucks, and VERY friendly employees ready to help, and crack a joke ;-)
They have a huge variety of books for great prices. They also have a Starbucks caffe that is great for coffee, tea, and snacks. Movies, kindle, and tablets too.
I really like the store and the company. There is one employee there though, that when you say, "no thank you" to the membership question he jumps right into this crummy sales pitch, which is annoying, I just said, "no thank you". When someone says NO, leave it at that, respect that, don't keep pushing it. Then the guy goes on to ask for my e-mail, and I say, "no thank you", and he gets an attitude. As I'm walking out the door the guy says, "jesus". How rude to do it within earshot. Reality is I just wanted to pay for my book and not be up sold to a membership or given crappy marketing newsletters.
My family loves this store. The customer service could use a bit of work, but for the most part those on the team seem to be knowledgable. If I need a book the same day, this is where I go.
I like that you can go in and find what you need or want and sit and relax. There's a Starbucks if you want coffee or food, has a good atmosphere.
Always a pleasant place to shop, great cafe, and everyone was masked. We'll done, staff!
My daughter liked this place.
The only B&N around. The place is huge and has an excellent selection of materials including vinyl. There's a large kids section and even a Starbucks cafe.
Great selection of used and new books. Got a great photography book for a great deal. Staff is always friendly, store is always clean and orderly.
I love Barnes and Noble! Such a large variety of books with a discount section, children's area and lots of other fun stuff.
I always love stopping in here when I get the chance. Good coffee, great books and fun toys and games to check out. What's not to like?
Wonderful store and well organised. There are always something there for you to buy from books to stationary.
Great variety of reading material and media like DVDs.
It is a book lovers haven! I didn't even make it out of one section of the store because it was so big and I was having so much fun browsing! And this store is two stories high!!!!
Such a huge selection always so clean and organized and huge discounted book selection also Starbucks for a nice pick me up. Great place for all ages!
Alot of deals. I even sat down in front of the cafe they have inside and enjoyed my kombucha beverage and a piece of spinach artichoke quiche.
Always helpful, fun people to talk to. Greate products, decent prices. Treat it like a library with a cafe: grab a coffee and read whatever you want all day.
I always head right to the used section. I appreciate that they have one because other B&N locations do not. I always feel free to linger and take my time browsing.
An excellent book store like walking through a well stocked library, only with coffee
Love this store. We no longer have bookstores in our area. Staff was super nice and helpful.
Amazing places like this still exist! One of the most expansive book stores left. Go there before it's gone, if nothing else for the nostalgia of it.
Who doesnt love a giant store full of books!! Very welcoming and clean environment where you can get coffee or browse from the thousands of books to choose from.
Well stocked, well maintained store with helpful, friendly staff. Great place to relax. And it's a super convenient Starbucks stop!
Barnes and nobles are good place to buy books and drink coffee. It also clean
Nice store, friendly people. Grandkids loved seeing all the books (and toys) they had and also enjoyed the food!
This is the first Barnes and Noble I've ever been in that has a section for used books. This place is huge and has an awesome selection of D&D books.
Love buying books here. They even have bargain "basement ". Staff is helpful.
Although a bit far, Barnes & Noble is the largest bookstore you'll find in Vermont. If you're looking for something in particular call beforehand & they will special order it for you.
Had book we wanted
Love, lovloveive this place. Even if you're not looking for books (never the case for me), it had so much to look at, and it's great quality.
It's a Wonderful Store...Wish We Had One...
When you need an actual book to read or magazine you can't beat Barnes and Noble also get a good cup of coffee while you skim through the book to make sure it's the one you want
Love Barnes & Noble!
Wish at times there were more staff members available for assistance!
😊 …
You can always find what you're looking for here. A bit over priced but unless you want to wait for online ordering it's the best.
We love that book store. They have so many books and books about everything. When I need a book, this is where I go!
It's nice being able to go into a bookstore abd pick up and book and read a little to see if you like it. I wish there was one nearby!
Great store except in most cases, Amazon is cheaper
My favorite book store of all time. They also offer a wonderful variety of other things.
It's a book store, so expect a book store, but the staff is awesome and there is a used books section. One of the better books stores I've been in.
I bought some Christmas gifts here. I like having a good book store around.
I’ve always been fond of this place. They have a great used books section.
Seems like this might be going to last brick-and-mortar bookstores around and thank God for that cuz I love it
Do not have a starbuck that takes Starbucks card, better not to have registered as Starbuck. Good all the way and be a starbucks
They have a lot of books and awesome things
Your typical Barnes and nobles nice size store very clean and great quite place to go to get/read a book! Or grap some Starbucks!
Great place to spend a lazy afternoon. Lots of activity and good books and magazines to leaf trough while you have a coffee at the Starbucks.
I had raided this place as a 5 I wouldn't now. Went there today and their policy is you can't return a book because is over 2 weeks how dare your company do this!! Maybe you should change your policy!!
I love books. It was really busy when I visited, so I did not recieve any assistance until I checked out.
My favorite bookstore. There is nothing better than going into the bookstore and losing yourself in a book. I love it
Even chain bookstores need love too, tons of music and games too and the staff is incredibly helpful
You can find some of the best stuff in the clearance/used book room. I've found great stuff (including out of print) there.
This is my favorite Barnes and Noble store. Love the game section! Anytime we are in the area we have to stop here.
Business as usual at this two story, chain bookstore. Too many non-book items, in my opinion. Still the same ordering policy and free shipping to members.
I had an overpriced cappuccino at starsux...it wasn't bad.
Always a pleasure browsing in this bookstore. I've met a lot of friendly people and the customer service has always been excellent.
Staff was super friendly and helpful, bathrooms were clean and the Starbuck's inside was fast and delicious while reading a book.
They are amazing!! You have questions they will answer. They have a wide variety of books and great customer service
Looking for cookbooks for Air Fryer not too many but tons of cookbooks for instant pot which I have need cookbooks for everyday food not all the spicey trendy stuff.
The cafe and check out staff are friendly and helpful, but it is impossible to find an employee to help you find the book you're looking for now that they've removed the customer computers.
I have always liked Barnes and Nobles, this one was by far my favorite so far. Loved the staff and the atmosphere!
Always a joy. Good staff. Well stocked...
I love this place. Large store, seating everywhere. Starbucks cafe (the only thing I wish they would change).
Great place to spend time in browsing. They have tons of books.
Only used the restroom.
Relaxing and we loved the variety offered. Especially a small place to eat in after searching for the perfect book or game.
Atmosphere is cool. Laid back and helpful staff. Weak, weak Wi-Fi. Overpriced Starbucks coffee and grub
Nice bookstore - it's fun to browse before buying. Sales staff is great.
Great place to go to look at books, got some good deals on books and best sellers. Got the membership and saved even more.
I absolutely love this store and every time I go in (which is very often) customer service is always friendly and helpful even if I'm not looking for help there's always someone there asking if they can help me with anything!!
Great book store. Friendly staff. With a Starbucks attached too.
Two floors, tons of great books and help, and some seating. There is also a Starbucks inside.
I went in, staff was great, they helped me find what i wanted. Purchased the books i wanted and left, quick and simple.
Service is good and helpful. They don't always carry complete series of books. Always missing a book or two on the middle.
Good selection and prices
They have used books for wicked cheap.
Great place to hang out, read and check out magazine and books, purchase gifts for self or others, grab coffee and/or quick bite, meet with friends, study, write notes, finish work etc...
I really like Barnes and Noble too bad they took away the seating areas they had
This is my favorite Barnes and Noble. It's big, has a lot of books, and a great cafe.
Wonderful place to relax with a good book. You can get game's, coffee and food if you like.
Decent, but small for a B&N. We were just passing through, and were able to find some food reading material.
I have only been there once. I was happy eith my experience. The minute we walked in we were asked if we needed any help. I told them what I waa looking for and ge brought right there
Love this bookstore, they have a Starbucks and lots of great stationary products.
Excellent service. Staff took time to find the book my granddaughter wanted. Thank you!
Visited venue when shopping with my sister we were visiting. Had great staff who knew where items were that I wanted . nice place to relax.
I love small independent book stores but going to B & N is an event. They have it all.
It's a Barnes and Noble but it also has a used book section.
It's the only one I've ever seen like this.
I love it?
Enjoyed a chai tea as I browsed through huge variety of books and gifts. Friendly helpful staff. ❤

I come here once a year for the November Criterion Collection sale and am pleased on what I find every time.
They had a copy of my book, "Outgrowing Addiction" in stock-- how can I knock 'em?
Good selection, found books I wouldn't have expected to see there.
Took my child. The lady in the children's section was very helpful in getting my girl excited to read chapter books
Very nice store, bought my younger son a few toys there which he really loved
Love that they are always adding new things to keep it fresh. Wish their prices were more competitive on their books though.
Rather expensive but a great atmosphere and it is nice to be able to make sure you enjoy a book before buying it.
Just went for the wifi but it was able to reach in my car so that was cool
Largest barnes and noble I've been in. My daughter and i were in there for 3 hours. Loved the experience.
Even though the store had some repairs going on the experince was great. Clerks were knowledgeable snd helpful.

Great place. Nicest bookstore I've ever been to !!
Always a great time! Loads of books, magazines and everything else you can think of 🙂 …
Excellent selection and great customer service. Glad they're still around.
Sell used books which is cool but lacking in variety. Too much emphasis on being liberal trendy.
Love to hang out here and read graphic novels good selection
