Reviews of Hub Comics
Alex Barbat
Such a lovely store! The setup is so bright and welcoming, and there's a super wide range of books. But above that, the people working at the store know SO much about comics of all shapes, sizes, and genres and are so happy to answer any questions you might have! A quick stop the other day turned into a super informative and interesting conversation about the comic industry and audiences. I ended up buying "Understanding Comics" after our conversation, and it was such a good recommendation! You should 100% stop by 😄

Such a wonderful store! The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The fact that they still require masks is a huge plus for me - I love a store that ensures a safe and accessible environment. Great selection of books, ranging from Marvel & DC to indie publishers to local comic zines. Many other local shops can feel gatekeep-y, but Hub always feels welcoming and inclusive.

Favorite comic shop, great selection, fantastic folks who work there. As a cancer patient, I'm thrilled they still require masks and always look forward to my next visit.

A very nice comic shop with a large selection of independent and unexpected graphic novels and a novel but delightful way of categorising them. This shop has back issues and new weekly comics but one feels they know their regulars well and new comics sell through promptly.
The selection of comic art books, original art on display and the sections of small press and local small press comics is impressive. They have an incredible selection of independent titles, and it’s a warm atmosphere. On my recent visit Jesse and Juliet were working hard but engaged and chatted and helped no end. A lovely store.
(And next to a lovely coffee shop Bloc.)

Best local comic shop in Somerville/Boston. My wife and I come to New England every year to visit her brother and every chance I get I come to Hub Comics. They have everything you're looking for. Whether you like capes and superheroes, indie books or just old school comics this is your home. No matter who has been manning the store they have always been helpful, kind and courteous. I have been to a bunch of stores and some of the sales people weren't too inviting. This shop is the opposite. Its bright and full of new and interesting books and a huge indie section. I am personally evolving in my quest to learn more about the LGBTQ community and I found two books to help me on my journey. A Quick and Easy Guide to They/Them Pronouns and The Quick and Easy Guide to Queer and Trans Identities. Both books are by Oni Press's imprint called Limerence. Never even knew that was a thing and I shop comics every week. Honestly this is why I shop local because you find so many cool and interesting things. Always shop local and visit a comic shop today! Go forth and buy all the books!!

A lot of great comics. Some older. Some more recent. There's also the classic machine that spits out a ball! I cannot quite recall what it is called anymore.
Location was easy to spot. There was a sign that did say you should wear a mask, limit of around 5 customers, and keep to 15 minutes in the store.
Great spot to check out if you like comics!
Arran Victory
Great little comic book store with a good selection of well known and smaller local releases.
Also sorts by genre, the best way to sort.
Jack McGowan
This is the comic shop of the future. The selection of books, the layout of the store, the kind and engaging staff: everything comes together to make a beautiful and welcoming comic book store. I hope this place stays open for years!
Thomas Steckbeck
I came in looking to buy a comic for a friend of mine who is very interested in comics. I came in with a couple of series that they had read/were reading and no knowledge about comics beyond that. The staff member working was able to make recommendations based off this limited knowledge. They also provided context as to why they were suggesting the particular comics. I felt like I was able to make a more informed decision about which comic to buy. I left feeling like I bought something my friend would love. 10/10 experience!

I'm ashamed to say that it took me a few years to go here despite pasting it a bunch and wanting to start a comic book hobby. Seeing them close for the pandemic was a little scary but I was happy to see that they were doing so to remodel the place. They care about their store, comic and their customers and their weekly updates gave me that impression before I started to regularly visit.
The staff is knowledgeable and will help you with anything that you are looking to find out of obtain. I was able to pre-order some graphic novels that I was excited for and even order specific ones that they did not currently carry. For graphic novels, they run a customer loyalty deal. Their email list is not abused. Not only will you find graphic novels and individual comic books, but also other literature and a decent selection of children books.
Aaron Mailhot
AMAZING selection and vibe/layout, and some good deals. Also a section devoted to local creators, which is awesome!!!
Conor Cara
Love this spot, small but great selection, nice and bright and organized. The people there were super nice and helpful in recommending things for me to read. I'll definitely be back for more.
Evan
Ever since moving out of Union, I've greatly missed this comic shop. You've got amazing curators who are more than happy to help make any recommendations.
Jonathan Davidson
Favorite book store with nice staff. Love the organization in the store: nicely split between indies, Big Two (DC and Marvel), and manga and kids. Nice spotlighting on particular authors that might be sought out, like Neil Gaiman, as well as more local artists, or staff recommendations prominently display niche titles. Have liked suggestions when asking for them from the staff, highly recommended!
Sarah Zuckerman
This is a wonderful independent comic shop with both a great selection of new releases as well as an extensive graphic novel collection, organized in a very logical and easy to browse manner. The staff has always been friendly.
They have a nice habit of including a run of recent acclaimed books, so you can easily jump on board a new title.
Ce Ch
Great comic book store! They have a wide variety of recommendations, are very easy to talk to and have lots of knowledge, and have every category you could want. Great graphic novels section and a decent back issues section.
Jusny Mackenson Louis-Jean
First time in a comic book store and I loved it
David Supple
Not your nostalgic comic bookstore of old but carrying forward the best of the graphic novel and comic medium to a new generation. My 5 year old daughter and I are big fans.
Thien N
Friendly and helpful staff that is always up for recommendations. Everything is well organized with plenty of space dedicated to non-superhero comics including local zines, alternative styles, history, science, sci-fi, fantasy, and other genres. If you buy 10 graphic novels or volume collections each year they give you a free graphic novel up to some price based on past purchases.
Tim Faustini
Support your Friendly Local Comic Book Shop! I just happened to be visiting the area, but if I lived here, this would be my shop. I grabbed two trades and chatted with the staff about my choices, and the music playing in the store, and some favorite movies. Comics are arranged by genre. They also have discounted bundles of full group of paperback trades. It's a really good deal if you want to get into a whole series. Haven't seen that in other stores.
Dwight Sweeney
one of the better comic book store,in Boston.... internet access is avaible, also knowledgeable staff👍👍👍👍👍 …
Emery Brush
This was a cool little comic shop. They carried most of the authors I was looking for, and the staff knew exactly what I was talking about when I brought up some more niche books. Their dedicated local section is also very cool, and I was really into reading some local talent. Definitely worth the stop if you live nearby
alex sludds
Recently renovated, this comic book shop has everything you are looking for. The staff are also super friendly.
Carl Woolley
Very well presented, clean, well shelved. The couch is a nice touch. However,Despite it's size and book quantity, the place had a paltry selection. It was mostly non fiction, old artists artbooks, lots of hard covers and the least interesting of indie titles out. No collectibles to speak of, even though they were proudly displayed on their Google pics. Instead, some sculpts who looked too rough to be professionally done, some DC and marvel paraphernalia ,some shirts. And small manga section. This might sound like a lot, but I assure you that it isn't. Especially since there are better places out there that have less. The staff was helpful though I give them that. The atmosphere felt like I was late to a party. It might not be for me,but some might really enjoy it. Hence the 3 star rating.
Clay NFerno (Clay Fernald)
HUB COMICS just relaunched this year! Great service, and a beautiful shop. Look forward to more improvements soon. Great service and a graphic novel discount program. Game night Tuesdays, and events throughout the year! Dark Knight on a Dark Night features Batman artwork at the Winter Solstice annually.
Branden Etheridge
Hub Comics has a great selection and is organized in a clean and thoughtful way. More like a book shop than other comic books stores I've been too. Friendly people with great suggestions based on other things you've read.
Ian Root
nice staff, and they have a rewards program so you can earn free graphic novels. not the most expansive selection, but it's well curated and they're happy to order books you want that they don't carry
Ryan Lewis
Hub Comics has a great selection and is well organized by genre. Their hours make them seem like they're always open and have very friendly staff. It's always a pleasure to shop there.
Daniel Milbrandt
Great selection of comics and super nice staff. Its across the street from Doughnuts and is a regular Sunday morning date for my partner and I. If you sign up for their list you get a free comic for every 10 you buy.

When I moved into my apartment on Somerville Ave, my friend who lives nearby told me the first thing I had to check out was Hub Comics. Admittedly, I was a bit nervous when I saw the staff was only men based on how I have been treated at other comic shops in the past. The guys who work at Hub Comics are absolutely amazing; they're incredibly friendly and welcoming to anyone who walks in the door.
After one of the staff members saw what I was buying, we got into a discussion about what kind of comics I like and have read, and he was able to give me a bunch of suggestions for new series to start on. What I liked best is that while I was buying DC, he didn't limit his suggestions to the DC universe or go on about how another company was so much better, as I've experienced at other comic shops. He gave me suggestions of series from a variety of different companies, and even some local artists/authors.
The store ALWAYS has great stuff on sale, and if you take the time to look you can find some real gems for a low price. If you are in the Somerville area, I definitely suggest checking this place out.
Diego UmeJuarez
Great selection and friendly staff that have the knowledge.
Anyenda Inyagwa
Small shop but great collection of comics to choose from...I really like the staff and how they consistently promote local creators. The only reason I'm not here more is because I live in Newton. I try to stop by whenever I'm in Somerville
Polina Khabibulina
This is my favorite local business. It's the reason getting me to move out of Union Sq would be like pulling teeth. Hub Comics has amazing staff, a great selection, a wonderful atmosphere and a sense of community I have not found at any other business. I wish I could give this place more stars because it is so near and dear to my heart.
Jorge Vega
Very nice knowledgeable staff. The remodel looks great and they have a wonderfully diverse selection of mainstream and indie titles.
Matt Piontkowski
Love this comic shop. Everytime I find myself in Union Square I make a point to go there. Great selection of comic books and the staff is always friendly and helpful.
Daniel Sepúlveda
Amazing place and wonderful service.
My favorite Comic book store in New England
Michael Koch
Big new & used comic store in an old house. Fun Fact: they also carry Zines! I didn't know people were still making those, but I'm pleasantly surprised it's still a Thing.
John Bornmann
Great customer service. I'm not a huge comics collector, but both times I have come in the store they have been friendly and helpful, including with my two year olds in tow.
Peter Galvin
I chose to live in Somerville partly because it has Hub comics. It's one of my favorite places to have a pull box, and just an all around awesome little shop. Love it.
Katherine Sullivan
Oh Hub Comics. I want to love you. I really really do. I work in Union Sq and stop by here on my lunch every now and then to find something good and interesting to read. I would go in every day if the crabby guy behind the counter wasn't there each time I go in! To hear his whiny "Why would anyone come in to shop, when it's [enter good or bad weather]" comments have started to really get on my last nerve. I've spoken to the manager about him in the past and have gotten the "I don't care" attitude. I've decided that I do care where my hard earned money goes and it's not to Hub Comics!
Jonathan Wooldridge
Great store. They always have good bundle deals. Really friendly staff, great selection, and they carry some local artists too.
Alexander Kirchberg
I've not been here and they not have what I need. Very clean and the person who helped was kind, informational, and not pushy. Last trip got the last two Wicked+Divine and Die#3.
Caitlin M
This is a great local store packed with all sorts of comics and graphic novels. I don't buy graphic novels very often, but I'm definitely coming here when I do.
Katelyn Moore
The sales rep was super friendly and knowledgeable about the comic books and stories about which my friends and I inquired. There did not seem to be a large selection of manga, unless I missed something.
S. J. Noble

Alejandro Garcia
Pros: the place is clean. Do not expect a lot of old comics, it's more modern. The variety is little but still good.
Cons: Their customer service, I didn't feel welcomed. What I mean by that was, I didn't receive any sort of greeting or being told “hey if there is anything you need please let us know” the basic 101 knowledge of great customer service.
Side Note:
They do require masks in order to come to the store which is okay but they do have a sign that states to try and limit your time at the store for 15 min?, I didn't experience any type of pressure to leave the store but reading that might rub people the wrong way. If I were them I would suggest removing that because people will feel rushed and just become a non-enjoyable experience.
I would suggest people to go to the store, you might find some pretty solid deals but personally “The Hub” is not my cup of tea.
Still glad I was able to stop by and see the shop!
