Reviews of Harvard Book Store
I loved the quality of the selection of books available for purchase here. I am a fan of history in particular and I found books on general history to more nuanced subjects, such as Cairo in the 20s and the dissolution of the English monasteries. My wife and I also were heavily tempted by the cooking section, which was filled with books covering diverse geographical regions and techniques. We couldn't leave without a few books!
Masks required. 😷 I respect & appreciate that to keep everyone safe. Great bookstore with attentive staffs & wide selection of books. Keep up the good work! …
Staff was wonderful in assisting me in finding a book to gift a preteen. Great selection of books and very well organized and tidy bookstore. They offered to gift wrap my book which was pretty awesome! Great experience.
Nice place. Apparently, you have to "purchase" books and it's not "A Library for Turkeys" as some tour books may say. My family was walking by and a Real Turkey, about 40lbs, started gobbling at my Spouse who was walking my 4 yr old son (with walking braces for CP). This literal Turkey proceeded to dart at them aggressively. It then turned it's head, ignored them, and crossed the road to meet a college aged human person for car keys or something. It was a distraction from our Harvard/MIT visit to say the least. It made MIT look like a better school by comparison.
SPOLIER ALERT: Turkeys sleep in trees and there are many lurking around Harvard. During the day they walk around, then they sleep in the trees at night. This was more worrisome than the witches in Salem, honestly.
Pardon my use of the Oxford Comma, we we're on Cambridge Street.
Such a great experience shopping here. I often come and peruse the used books at the end of a long workday, and it’s so satisfying to peruse the stacks with the hope of finding something interesting. I also love the rewards program- being able to get a discount on full price books is very worth it. I love the selection and find the store well organized. The ambiance in general is also so fun, it feels like
A “hole in the wall” place, which for a bookstore is perfect.
Must-visit if you’re in town! Cute bookstore with a fun selection, including secondhand ones downstairs. There are good discounts for certain books too.
My daughter and I enjoyed browsing the selection. We found great books to take home. It is well lit and we'll organized.
Excellent bookstore! Downstairs has used books and I got some very cheap, good books from here! Apparently they’re expanding to the Prudential Center
Great bookstore with a lot of the current in demand books in stock. However, I have found that if I run in looking for a specific boom it always has a to be ordered which can take 3-7 days unfortunately. Certainly worth stopping by though. I have found some great books here, and think it’s the next bookstore in Cambridge/Boston. Staff are always so nice.
Such a cute little shop. The aesthetic is very cottage core and nice, and everything is well-kept. There are many books and classic stationary to buy, as well as Harvard merchandise for a reasonable price. I highly recommend!
Great bookstore with a wonderful selection. You could spend hours browsing books here. They also have a variety of gifts and cool knickknacks. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Definitely a place I enjoy spending time at and exploring.
My wife and I loved it, we brought a picnic out there and had a great Sunday with all the affordable puppies running around and all the people. Old buildings to look at in great weather. It's a wonderful green space right in three middle of town, great getaway.
This is a very good bookstore with a good selection of new releases and a very interesting used and sale book section in the basement. Staff are knowledgeable and helpful. I found some good bargain titles while browsing so it's definitely worth visiting.
Absolute books delight! The store is labeled and genres are easy to find. They also have used books section which I loved! Wide variety of authors and the staff are friendly!
Found a few noteworthy books to keep my eyes busy for a few weeks. The selection was vast for such an intimate spot, you could spend hours there and not feel intrusive. The employees I found to be absolutely pleasant and eager to help. This place is an all around win.
Absolutely excellent locally owned book store that has maintained its quality over the decades. It has a large number of good books. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable.
It’s just a dream place for the book lover and the staffs here are very enthusiasm!
Don’t forget to ask for the special seal of Harvard!
Truly one of the last great bookstores. An incredible selection of new and used books, helpful staff, and discounts for frequent buyers. Check out the remainders on the lower floor-- many gems to be found there.
Love HBS. The staff is very helpful especially with recommendations. Most recently I was stuck with one last person, and staff gave me an absolute spot-on suggestion. My favorite bookstore in Cambridge.
Fantastic bookstore with great selections and helpful staff. However, don't expect to find anything cheap either. Also not affiliated with the university in any way, just a book store in Harvard square.
It was always an amazing experience to shop or just browse around in the bookstore. Tones of art books selection enough for artist like myself. Just found out that they have self publishing and printing service as well.
Excellent selection of what ever you could possible want and for hood prices. Everyone very helpful
Great collection and friendly staff.
This is a fun book store to explore both new and used books. The staff is VERY helpful and pleasant to work with.
You see index cards with thoughtful, intriguing book reviews carefully crafted by bibliophile staff members. We enjoyed the wide array of local finds, popular titles, and obscure reads. The in store book binding machine for up and coming authors and professors is neat and handy. Needs an intentional cozy space to peruse and flip pages but otherwise fab'.
Loved it! I've never seen such good quality books in a second hand store. Huge range of topics. There are also new books with discounts of up to 60%.
I really liked this place. During my two week stay at Harvard I visited several times and purchased many books for my children and myself. One nice thing is that we can find used or discounted books as well which are also arranged according to disciplines/schools of thoughts.
Nice bookstore. Many new and old books neatly arranged into different categories so it's easy to find something that interests one. I really liked the section with the used books. Many goodies for a nice price. Would recommend everyone that likes books to go there.
Great bookstore founded in 1932. I love walking into books stores. The first floor alone can eat up an hour of your time. I would also highly recommend walking across the street and walking through the dexter gate. Rumour has it it makes you smarter
Large underground selection of used books for dirt cheap. Found some good gems and spotted others already in our collection. They also give you a bookmark with purchase, which is highly appreciated by someone who never has enough.
Great book store with intelligent, knowledgeable people and books. They have many great books. Bought local popular book published by them and it was a pleasure being at the book store.
Great book selection in a cozy and comfortable independent bookstore. I loved the staff recommendations!
It's Harvard's bookstore, for sure. But don't let the name blind you unduly. It's a good spot to pick up the latest bestsellers, or even search the basement for used books. There's no cafe in the bookstore (not everyone is B+N yet!), but they do operate as a showroom for Harvard's various presses, and are always excited to show off the new arrivals.
Usually quite busy, as anything Harvard, with tourists from all around. Still good browsing, it's a book store! But there isn't much I can think of to set it above the vast majority of bookstores.

It's the best book store in Harvard square along with Raven books. It's very well organized and most of the people working here are nice and helpful. I enjoy going in without a plan and finding 5 books I want to buy.
Cozy book store! I’m found a lot of good books.
Fantastic! This lovely bookstore has both new and old books. Many old ones are on sale. Those that are second hands are mostly half the price. The staffs are friendly and helpful. Definitely love the vibe of the shop. It's so lively with customers who seems passionate with books. :)
great store, fold my 5 year daughter some really good educational books.
This is one of my favorite places. They have a wonderful array of fiction and non-fiction books, with an especially great collection of non-fiction books in the social sciences. The downstairs is a whole floor of used books and a large selection of comics and graphic novels. The staff is friendly and very helpful, and will order anything they don't have on hand!
History place
All books small like smart
I like it good for kid
People nice service
Strong recommend
Huge selection in a historic book shop. Gets pretty crowded though, and some of books are fairly overpriced.
Felt like a mini Harry Potter store with all the old books and vibes in the store. You can get Harvard souvenirs and branded items in the store along with interesting reads. Sure a recommendation during a Harvard visit.
Excellent selection, wonderful setup for browsing or to grab whatever is on your list. Great staff; they're always willing to offer an idea or to order something if it's not in stock. ** support your local bookstores! **
One of the few great used bookstores around New England. A fantastic variety. Of particular interest to me is the science, nature, and math section. They often have an obscure reference that I wouldn't otherwise have known about. And you have to love the bookmark door!
My favorite spot in Cambridge this past year. The basement is all used books too, and they sell the most beautiful notebooks and totes
A charming book shop in the middle of the Harvard University area. They have a great selection of new and used books. For any book lover this is worth a browse, the is a wide variety of books here. I would give a 5 star but it is pretty pricey, even for used books but don't let this put you off going here. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly too.
Fantastic section!!! Staff are lovely and the shelves are full and labyrinthine. Lots and lots of books in every nook and cranny while remaining well organized. Great natural lighting, but no seating. I definitely felt like I bumped into someone every time I turned a corner. It’s a hard space to navigate with others especially at busy hours. The narrow space between the stacks doesn’t help, but it does allow for more books.
Gem of a book shop. Many hidden treasures
A fantastic book store with scores of wonderful books of areas of variable interest. One of the best in US
I've used them to print 3 different books, just one copy each. They were incredible quality, and the customer service I received along the way was polite and helpful. However, trying to do a fourth book with them has been very difficult. Since COVID, they've not been getting back to me the same as they used to.
Always love this place! Great selection and terrific staff who know their stuff. I always appreciate the recommendations and great deals I get here, all the while supporting an indie bookstore.
Great place. Love the author lectures. Enjoyed listening to Charles Fishman concerning his "One Giant Leap" (a must read).
I come here every time I am in Boston and am always overjoyed at how many wonderful things I find!
Always find interesting books. The downstairs has used books and remainders for less.
Want to get accepted to Harvard? No problem. IvyChief will make your dream a reality! We help with essays and through all of the stages of the application process!
Awesome bookstore with a large variety of engaging books used and new.
Needed to explore some Joan Didion. Called on the phone. Very nice person confirmed. Joan was there. Popped in on a Sunday morning (open when others weren’t) Point me to the Joan please. Essays right over here sir (Sir? Sure. I’ve got a few miles on me). Wait. Where’s “The Year of Magical Thinking?” Ah, that one is on a shelf by the door. Popular titles maybe? Anyway the whole thing was maybe five minutes. In and out. Easy peasy. Super friendly young folks who seemed to know their stuff. Plus, the young man who rung me up is wearing a vintage “Harold and the Purple Crayon” shirt. Winner winner chicken dinner. Support local independent book stores people. Do the right thing.
Fantastic book store where you can find really nice second-hand books. Come there late, when it is dark and cold outside to feel how cosy and warm this place is.
So amazing book shop. Love this place so much.
Large, well arranged bookstore; good selection, friendly and helpful staff. I love the handwritten short reviews/recommendations inserted in some books.
Good collection of books.
You can get Harvard Sovenier from here
Lovely book store with an old feel to hit. Love the used section in the basement! Helpful staff. A must visit.
I don't even know where to start. Hardcovers everywhere. A large Africa and African America studies section. A ladder on wheels to move around and grab something. A treasure spot for any book lover!
A really good book store! Very interesting. Highly recommend!
Our first stop on our Boston 3day and it didn't disappoint. A real book store with a ton of books with a huge bargain basement of titles you'd actually want to read. Also appreciate that there is a enough room in aisles to not feel claustrophobic, something often missing in bookstores.
Beautiful and huge bookshop, remanders and second hand books.
Love the selection if books here. The new books are upstairs while the used books are downstairs. There is quite a selection of used books across all genres. The new book selection is equally deep. Pretty sure it's impossible to leave here without buying something
What a unique & wonderful book store. New books upstairs, old books downstairs, great suggestions in the window, and "Paige Gutenberg", their paperback book-publishing machine. If you're really lucky, you may see it in action. If you're just regular lucky, you can pick up an odd-sized notepad/flip book created as a by-product.
If you love books you will love this book store. If you are just passing by and don’t need a book it is still worth browsing and picking up a bag or postcard or something or nothing. The book loves have the whole top floor to enjoy book reviews and recommendations galore and books for all ages and interests. Downstairs is where you can really go to town with the selection of discount books. This bookstore is why I never have enough bookshelves at home.
The last, great bookstore in Harvard Square (the Harvard Coop is mostly hoodies 'n mugs, unfortunately). The Harvard Book Store is a browser's paradise!
Great mix of new and used books to choose from!
I'm not muchvof a book reader but my wife is and she loved this place. I do have to say they had a very large selection of books in a small place. She found a couple books that she couldn't find anywhere else and the prices she said where great.
Great books! But no apparels
A little too " woke" for my taste . Great book collection
The staff here are amazing. They are happy to assist one until your search is completed.
Always great for a quick find or last minute Christmas shopping.
Not worth the hype. Not impressed. I expected something much grander and amazing.
An incredible book store! They stock all the latest books with a strong support for history, science, and academia over pop culture. The basement has an incredible selection of affordable used books, making it a great spot to browse as well. Most impressively, the Harvard Book Store prints their own books too, making them an invaluable resource to the community.
Definitely a place to check out for locals and tourists alike.
Harvard bookstore is my go-to local bookshop. The staff members are friendly and helpful, making my experience very pleasant, and the book and stationery selection is impressive. Highly recommend to anyone who loves to shop local and get amazing books!!
I'm almost 70, been browsing this bookstore for 55 years and it's my favorite bookstore in the whole wide world. Book pictured is a signed FE I got there last week poking around the shelves.
The staff at the Harvard Book Store are extremely knowledgeable and friendly! I ordered several books during their most recent Warehouse Sale and requested that my books wait to be shipped until after I moved. The staff was very accommodating and even included a kind note wishing me a successful move alongside my books when they arrived! Will definitely revisit their store in-person if I find myself in Boston again.
A nice book store tucked into the corner. The downstairs has used and overstock books, and they really have some great prices!
Worth noting: They’re also currently requiring a mask to enter and they’re limiting how many people can be in the store at once.
Despite the name, it is not owned by Harvard. Support small businesses! Pretty good selection of books, maybe not as big as the coop, but still worth a perusal.
I mean let's be real, Harvard knows how to do a bookstore well. it's good for perusing and contemplating and chilling with a good book, or even as a good escape from the summer heat. ya just gotta go at least once :)
Great place but careful on social distancing as there were alot of ppl in this store at one time .
I am a book lover so I was in book heaven with the 20% off
Staff was nice and accommodating when we needed a little extra assistance. The store was cozy and warm and very inviting with a great selection of books.
A magical place for me. I found it carried many unique books and the if you ever remember and yearn for the smell of books (the fresh smell of paper books) this is it. I spent more than an hour lost in the magic of the book store!
Charming bookstore. Used and remainders
in basement are the
best part.
One of my favorite local indie bookstores! I mainly browse the discount and used books section in the basement for hidden gems (and I've found plenty over the years!). I recently discovered their puzzle selection as well and look forward to more!
Nice wide selection of books and lots of books. I feel like i was more in a library than a store. I love books. This store didn’t have a great variety of business books, that I tend to be more interested in. I did really enjoy discovering the used section downstairs that carries some mint looking books. I’d be fooled, some of them looked brand new, at a great price. I saw Team of Rivals and Devil in the White City downstairs with the front covers shining at a price of $8, if my memory serves me correctly. I’ll definitely visit this books store again if I’m in that neck of the woods. Only feel they could have some better catchy end caps with more popular titles.
I love this book store! I've been going here since I was a kid. It's one of the best places to visit in the square. There's always a great selection of best selling novels and interesting topics to explore. Everyone can find something here. There's a small section with quirky bookmarks,, pens, and stationary. The people who work here are friendly and helpful, and there are wonderful book reading and signing events that take place here over the year.
There can be a long wait to get in the door of this Harvard Square icon so please be prepared if the weather is nasty or cold. Once inside, though, you experience a warm, friendly atmosphere where the help is always happy to assist you. Among the many different areas of emphasis there is a comprehensive section devoted to world historical titles (one of my favorite sections) on a vast array of subjects. There is also a stunning collection of art books (and I really mean stunning) with a large section devoted to it. The store, in general, is jam packed with materials so social distance requirements make browsing a challenge. Don't forget to check out their basement section for used books in great condition.
Huge store with many genres. They also have a section of used books for 50% off. I also came across a rack of books ranging from $1-3 for a bunch of books!
Best bookstore with the best booksellers. Impeccable selection of new, used, and remaindered books. If you're in Cambridge, Harvard Book Store is a must visit location.
Location is easy to find, there's plenty of parking, and there are a lot of great deals on used books. We spent 2 hours just browsing through the shelves, looking at fun new books, and we came away with more than we meant to buy. Closest experience to what you get at Powell Books in Portland that I've found in CA.
I really enjoy this book store. I actually am very partial to any independent stores and book stores are at the top of the list. The atmosphere is very pleasant here. Great selection of books, particularly the used book section. The staff is very well versed in the selection of books. I often rely on their judgment for recommendations. I'm so happy to have this resource at my disposal.
Very nice library on the other side of the street from Harvard campus.
Checkout the used section downstairs.
Harvard Bookstore has a great selection from the popular to the esoteric. The staff is good and know their books and will find anything you need. Their used books selection is great as well and they buy old paperbacks with the option of a store credit or cash. I love browsing and spend hours there. Their author readings are extensive and very broad appealing to all kinds of interests. A great independent store.
For what it is it was it was much more than I expected. Went here last summer for a book on my way out of town for the weekend and they had it! Kind of obscure reading too. Vast selection and prices not what i expected for the location. It was well priced and the help was so nice. It was super busy at that time and she walked me to the book. Excellent all around. Better late than never on a positive review!
It's nice to visit a book store these days, especially one with the curated selection for this one, instead of shopping online. I missed the smell of a bookstore and thanks for helping us find books for the kids!
Very cute book store. It's actually a lot bigger than it looks from the outside. They buy used books and sell them as well. Their collections looked very interesting and there are several nooks where you can sit to read. While I was there, a guest speaker was reading from their book. It seems like they are a great spot for their community.
Hello fellow Collegians! I can assure you, there are live Turkeys Stalking the streets of Harvard. They have lived in the trees surrounding the school for many Thanksgivings. Take heed and remain cautious my brethren in academia. Additionally, I have personally never been harassed or accosted while galivanting around The Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a nearby institution for those unaware. Perhaps they have invented some sort of trap for these pesky Dinosaur Ancestors at MIT, not sure, just a statistical lower number of Feral Turkeys in their vicinity (for some reason).
*I'm not an endorsed Bird Lawyer and this is not the advice or opinion on any legal bird matters.
Support your local independent bookshop!!! This store is wonderful, their staff is helpful and will give you recommendations or help you find more books that align with your interests. They are kind and don’t pester you while you’re browsing. The store is organized well and has a great used section and a great staff recs shelf. If you’re a tourist in the area I recommend swinging by and grabbing a cool harvard bookstore tote bag and a book for the flight home.
The used books (they're on the lower floor) are well priced, and there's a decent selection of them -- no extensive selections of any one topic or genre, but if you want a given topic or genre they probably have a few examples. They may not be well organized, so the sections may reward a good browse, but they're also small enough (usually about one bookshelf per topic, though STEM books seemed to be split between two fairly distant shelves, so my count may be off) that a good browse may not take that long.
The new books section is the same except the prices are often a bit higher than I'd want to pay (not always, but usually in direct proportion to how much I'd want the book -- fair enough I guess).
Don't get me wrong; I'm going to be visiting the place again. Probably a lot. But a single bookshelf per topic is a little sparse, and the upstairs prices are high enough that, personally, I'd go to other bookstores first.
Comic readers should check out This really lovely bookstore - the second hand and Bargain sections are in the basement. There’s about 30 foot of second hand graphic novels downstairs. It varies but I often find a bargain here or more importantly an item I’ve been seeking out or didn’t even know about. The bargain Graphic Novel section is at the bottom of the stairs and always worth a quick check. Real respect and knowledge is displayed on the ground floor as their new GN section has comments, recommendations and I enjoy this. Good to know what others are thinking. This is a lovely book store.
A great place to find used books. They have a wide selection of genres, most of a scholarly type. The also have overstocks and new books.
Pretty thorough used-books section.
The most comprehensive book store in town
The Harvard Book Store feels a little too posh for a book store catering to college students. However, I highly recommend for their second-hand book selection in the basement, which I could spend hours looking through. Also, the service I received at the counter was great! Friendly conversation, and my friend was easily able to order a book that wasn't kept in stock.
I came here to find some new books to add to my reading list. They have a used books selection downstairs with a pretty wide selection of books organized by different genres. There are frequent panels on the ground level with famous authors promoting their latest books and talking about their experiences as writers. I highly recommend going to these talks because the authors they host have some great insight for aspiring writers!
Not only was I able to finally acquire a book I’ve been looking for for ages, I ended up picking out some titles I have never seen anywhere else. The printing machine is useful if you lack the facilities to print a dissertation, but expensive. The staff behind the counter also offered to hold my books behind the counter until later in the day, so that I wouldn’t have to carry them around the museums nearby.
Brilliant for new and second hand! I didn’t buy anything new, but got a few second hand things. The fiction section is great and they have a pretty good second hand comics section too. The new books are laid out really well and there were some good deals on offer when I was there. They put on some cool events too.
A great place to find Harvard gear and books.
So many fine hours were spent here! Wonderful employees so kind and friendly.
This is one of my favorite bookstores. The staff is great, they have a huge selection, and they are very communicative about online orders. I have had many great experiences with them and they are at the top of my list when I'm looking for a specific book.
The basement used section has some awesome finds. I found books there I've been casually looking for for years. Prices are standard used Boston prices. Worth a visit. The upstairs part is all new, and with a wide range of authors. I was surprised at how well represented the Ukrainian works were. Typically those are hid away somewhere in the back.
Love love love it!!! There are so many amazing books! I spent almost an hour and a half there because I just couldn't decide what to get! P. S. There's a 'secret' part downstairs where used books are shelved. The prices are great, and I even found some of the books that I wanted to get upstairs for discounted prices!!
A unique bookstore with a wide selection from bestsellers to cast-offs. I would recommend anyone who loves books or reading should stop by for a visit. Although the bookstore is usually busy especially at the start of a semester (it is the Harvard bookstore), the staff are very helpful and whatever your reading interests, you will be able to find something to read here!
Nice but went in for apparel & no real selection. Book choices incredible!
This is a very nice and cozy bookstore. I can spend an eternity checking their old books section. You can always find what you are looking for here. The shop is big and the selection is amazing. You can sit down to read if you want to check the books which is very convenient.
This is a wonderful bookstore. They have a great selection of new and gently used books, very good discounts on a revolving selection of new books, and fabulous author events. They also have a warehouse that is opened several times a year for deeply discounted books.
Great selection. Fairly easy to find things with just a general knowledge of book organization. Pretty crowded, which I guess means popular.
This store always features the newest releases, with thoughtful reviews from staff. The chalkboard door that tells you what the staff is reading really adds to the independent bookstore feel. They have great live events as well, and it's always worth stopping by to see what they're up to!
This is a wonderful book store. It has a great atmosphere and friendly staff. I called to see if they had a book, they put it on hold, and I bought it.
This is a cool bookstore, especially because of the massive used section downstairs and the wonderful children's section. It can get very crowded during their busy hours, but if you pass on it the first time because of the crowd, come back later and just browse their excellent collection. Bonus that this store is locally owned unlike the other's in the area. Very helpful staff.
Harvard Book Store (not to be confused with the Coop!) is a great, local bookstore. It's got an excellent selection of new books, plus it has a large used book room and lots of remainders. There are lots of deals to be had! Plus they offer various bonuses for members, and there is an annual warehouse sale that will blow your mind. This is always my go-to bookstore.
My favourite bookstore in harvard square
This is a great, small bookshop. Knowledgable staff. The used book basement is great to browse through but it definitely has a dark, actual old basement feel to it. Upstairs, their children's selection isn't as diverse as some other area stores, and it would be awesome if they had the space for some chairs to sit at but obviously real estate is at a prime in the square.
They have a neat section called blind date with a book. It is essentially a section of lightly used books that are wrapped in brown paper so you will not know what you picked up until after you buy. I love bookstores so I always go with ample time but the lines can get very long so it is not a quick drop in kind of place
This is one of my favorite places to stop when I'm in Cambridge! Though it looks small from the outside, it has a huge basement packed with used and discounted books. This means every visit is like a treasure hunt! It tends to be a bit busy, especially with looky-loo tourists who don't make purchases (I was one of them the first time I visited) but everyone seems to be polite and trys to avoid taking up too much space. Prices are typical for a bookstore.
A great independent bookstore. Well supported by the Cambridge community and beyond. Author talks sponsored by them draws top talent.
I am obsessed with this bookstore! My favorite part is how happy the employees are to give you suggestions when you tell them what kind of book you're looking for.
In my first weeks in MIT as a visiting scholar, I have stopped by this bookstore every evening! Once I have seen an independent and academic bookstore close to Columbia University, but it was closed later. However, this remains as vibrant as possible. Fantastic variety of fiction and non-fiction books of high-brow intellectual caliber. What is more, there is a cafe in the second floor (Coop Cafe) which is very welcoming. I could always find a spot there to stay, have coffee and read. There is also good wifi. There were very friendly employees in the cafe. I felt like home whenever I stopped by here.
Google really insists on Long reviews I don't know why. Anywho this is a delightful book store just outside Harvard square on Mass Ave with a huge range of titles. New books are upstairs and there's a nice used book section downstairs as well. I definitely recommend this place for a rainy Saturday afternoon or anytime you are in Harvard square.
Beautiful place, don't forget to look downsrairs for hidden gems.
Amazing, amazing, bookstore. Also so nice to see their conscientiousness of the current pandemic in limiting patrons to a certain number. We all walked out with a book!
The best bookstore in the middle of a hub of bookstores. Frequent author readings, and strong selection of signed first editions. Don't miss the eclectic selection of used books in the basement. Even if they don't have the book you are interested in, you may be able to walk away with a print copy--they have an in store on demand press!
A unicorn for sure. A compact, wonderfully organized store staffed by people who love books, the process and art of writing and are fiercely fighting for their independence. There is a super basement /cavern used book section. My favorite part of Havard Bookstore is their activities, bringing authors and others face to face that you would never get to meet. I buy there whenever I can.
Do check out the lower level for art books. They also have some still shrink-wrapped exhibition catalogues on sale there!
Great selection of new and used books with friendly staff to help you out.
Harvard bookstore is my favorite bookstore. It's got a great selection, helpful staff, they'll order something if they don't have it, they put together their own collections of short stories and essays for their book printing machine, and have a great used section downstairs. You couldn't ask for anything more.
Nice selection of books at different prices, a little too crowded, but still a nice bookstore with wide, wide selection of both new and used, discounted book for you to browse at ease. The place could be improved with some seating area for people to see and actually read through some of the books, but I guess they focus more on tourists coming to Harvard than real bookstore lovers and browsers ...
This is my favorite independent bookstore. The staff is helpful and friendly, whether you're in the store, shopping via their website, or at one of their warehouse sales. While I recommend all those experiences, nothing is better than taking the time to shop in the brick-and-mortar store, which features regular-priced selections; bargain books and remainders; and a delightful used-book section. If you're in Cambridge, set aside an hour or two and visit the Harvard Book Store.
Large variety across multiple floors, cozy layout and friendly staff. I spent a highly enjoyable hour perusing this bookstore and ended up purchasing some unique little notebooks as a gift. Highly recommend.
The absolute best bookstore in Cambridge and the greater Boston area! It is a small store but the selection is so well curated that you cannot find any fluff, only really interesting, beautiful books. At the ground level one finds new books, including a great bookshelf with staff recommendations. Underneath, in the basement, there is a used section with remainders and a selection of second-hand books. (check first here if the book you're looking for isn't available as a remainder or as a used volume!) Both upstairs and downstairs are well stacked. There are so many treasures that one can simply forget about time while in the store!
This is not a Harvard affiliated store, but great collection of fiction and non-fiction books overall. They even have used books for sale at $1, $2 and $3, usually lined up outside and in good, readable condition. However they do not have any textbooks for sale.
Best bookstore in Cambridge. Incredibly helpful staff, excellent selection, and a great used-book section downstairs. They also host numerous author events, many of which are free, as well as a great warehouse sale twice a year.
Love the place, they have a wonderful second hand collection!
A little cramped ("cozy" might be the right word...) with the shelves upon shelves of books. Which also means an awesome selection. Staff was friendly and helpful, place was overall pretty clean, and they had a lot of good deals too.
Wonderful collection of books. So cool to see the store.
Books, helpful staff, located not far from the subway, what more could you want?
Great independent book store. I only had time to browse the philosophy section, but it had a large selection.
Quaint bookstore. Nicely organized
wonderful bookstore! Spent over an hour wandering around and checking out the huge selection. They had some great titles on sale as well. Highly recommend for book lovers.
Great local independent bookstore with friendly, knowledgeable staff, & a nice selection of new, used, and remainder books. They also have author signings and events in-store periodically, & a loyalty card program so you can get periodic discounts if you shop there frequently.
This is an outstanding example of the friendliness and literary ambience of our independent bookstores. Great for browsing. It's downstairs area devoted to used books and also publishers' remainders is always a source of unexpected finds.
Bookstore with new books upstairs and used / discount books in the basement. Nice vibe but a little cramped. Wish the used book section was larger.
Great selection of used and new books. Only complaint was it was pretty stuffy and hot in there but that's no big deal
The superior book store in Cambridge for too many reasons to count - I love this store. I work as event staff and it is just as great behind scenes as it is in front. The book sellers really care about their customers and the books that they buy.
Great independent book store. Found what I was looking for right away after trying several other bookstores.
Always find the book that I need. They have cheap used books in the basement.
Great book store that somehow survived the tide of closings of other book stores in the Harvard Square area. Good staff, good selection of books and thankfully doesn't cave into the "we need to be politically balanced thus have Ann Coulter books (or similar) for the literate Trump voter" BS. Thank you.
Great selection of new and used books, with staff that are excited about their jobs. If they don't have something in stock, they're happy to order it for you, and typically know exactly the book you're talking about, even if you can only muster up a vague description.
This is a very special place. I've been coming here for fifteen years, and I'm always finding something new. Once, I was sitting next to John Ashbery at an event in Houghton Library, and I ran across the street to here to get a copy of one of his books to sign.
Browsing the remainders is always such a pleasant treat at the end of the day, and there are delights of all kinds to be found in the basement in used books. I've bought many presents here, and love the helpful recommendations the staff put up around the store.
They have some great readings here, too. It feels so good to support excellent independent bookstores. Three cheers for Harvard Book Store!
A bastion of printed glory! So much here for the avid reader. Plan on spending hours here browsing!
I came here to here for an event (it was a stop on an author's book tour). The event staff were extremely pleasant and well organized. The store itself is fun to just wander around in looking at the wide selection of books. The store is bigger inside than it might appear from the street (an includes a basement floor full of books as well).
Excellent all the way around
I ordered an out-of-print book on-line late Sunday night (5-6-19) , received a confirmation e-mail Monday morning and received the book on Thursday morning (5-9-19).
EXCELLENT response time, high quality re-print and good binding.
WILL buy from Harvard Book Store again.
Great selection, lots of different categories, awesome diverse selection of used books also. They even have some kind of a publishing machine pamphlets I believe. If they don't have a book you want, they can order it.
Beautiful book store in Hardvard Sq. All sorteo of books. Downstairs floor has book bargains
This is an unusual storeemployee-owned, logically laid out (the best-sellers and current publications are organized so that the shopper can find what they want, including a little children's reading area and a large art book display), and an amazing basement of discounted books. But, it is not IN Harvard UNIVERSITY, as advertised, it is IN HARVARD SQUARE & open to all!
I liked their welcoming attitude and long hours working hours!
Love this book store! Very pleasant place to look for books. The atmosphere is just perfect. Very well organized. Very nice and polite staff.
Clean, but you can't find all you are looking for. Prices are reasonable to certain extent.
A good place to buy used books at great price
They don't call it Cambridge's landmark bookstore for nothing. If it's in print, they can get it for you. Fantastic used and remainders downstairs. The Coop is bigger but not better. HBS has great staff and it's beautiful. Enjoy.
The staff are really nice and helpful, but I wasn't a fan of the books they sold.
If I could only shop at one bookstore for the rest of time, Harvard would be it! I never fail to find the best books here. I trust the employee reviews more than any store I've been to before, and I am always lost in the selection of books on shelves that get so little attention elsewhere. I'm also often drawn downstairs to the used book selection where I make just as many amazing discoveries as I do upstairs. And if I need something specific, I know that between the staff and their well-updated inventory computer, I'll be able to find out quickly if it's there and where it'd be. Add to this the events they hold--the author signings, the local business nights, the member-only events--and I'm hooked. It doesn't matter that I live 45 minutes away: it's it 100%!
Since 1932!
Not many places have outlasted this little bookstore. Glad to still have a piece of history remaining while the rest of the square modernizes.
Refreshing selection, wicked smart staff, you can find some great deals here!
I cam here once and was very pleased to have found some books of my favorite from the used selection downstairs. They were sold at decent prices. Staff members were very helpful and friendly. A bit crowded when I was in but all was great.
Have loved this store for many years, and now that books have flown the Coop (! - a joke about a very sad loss to the community), this is where to go for books of all kinds and for great service.
In the heart of Harvard square this bookstore delivers on the availability of numerous styles and eras. Well organized and with a new used book basement section the completeness of its inventory is rivaled only by the knowledge of the employees.
Good book store and miscellaneous items but I think it's too over price on their end.
Great bookstore w/TONS of amazing books from local authors as well as Harvard graduates. Plus they hav really cool yet random novelties.
Picked up a book signed by the author 2 read & add 2 my collection! 👍🏽
Harvard Bookstore has been a staple for many years. I loved it in college in the 80s, and I just finished watching a Zoom they organized with Barbara Kingsolver and Hope Jahren. This is a wonderful place.
Very organized bookstore, The book genres and categories are shown clearly above all bookshelves. A wide range of variety is offered, Plus you can even sell old books and purchase second hand ones!
Harvard Book Store is a must stop for anyone in Harvard Square who loves books. It has a rich selection of current books, helpful staff, a downstairs bargins section, a smattering of other gifts, cards, some candy and proximity to places to take your new book, get a cuppa, and start reading.
The historical bookstore you must visit when you come to Harvard university
It's an awesome place. It's probably one of the best bookshops in Boston. The lower level has a great collection of used books as well. Always buy used!
Since I arrived to Cambridge, the Harvard Bookstore has been one of my favorite places to go.
You can find any book you want and also find some jewels in the remainders and used books section.
The classic book store experience. Proximity to Hahvahd means that some of the more "popular" titles might be missing, but their selection can't be beat for the categories they do stock. You should shop here. Keep bookstores alive!
Fun bookstore. Has lots of big speakers come in to give talks. Get on their mailing list. I just returned from a book event with Malcom Gladwell and I would have never met him otherwise. And got to meet Alain De Botton the same way, and several other writer legends. Kind of hard to believe but this little independent place has the gravitas to do that, but yea :)
Great range and quality of books - just a pity I couldn't carry more in my suitcase back to the UK! I also stayed for one of their author talks/interviews which was a bonus.
This is an amazing book store and the used/remaindered books downstairs are the best value I've seen anywhere in the world. Half price for barely used titles. Worth a trip to Cambridge if you are around.
Love the selection of books. Very friendly staff
popped in there for a few minutes while walking around harvard square. nice bookstore even for browsing if you're not planning to buy anything specific.
Good book store in the neighborhood. Great collections and variety of books available. Would strongly recommend to check out the section in the lower level, filled with hidden gems.
I often use Amazon but decided to shop local. It was a breeze to order and pay by phone. When I picked up they helped me to take extra measures to keep the gift a secret as I transported it home. I will do this more often.
People talk a lot about the Coop, but this is the better Harvard bookstore!
This is one of the best bookstores I've ever been to. It's got an incredible selection, and great reviews from the staff below many of the selections. Staff are also very knowledgable and helpful with recommendations. The basement also a great selection of bargain books.
The store had perhaps the widest selection of books that I have ever encountered. It was also well organized and easy to navigate.
What an independent bookstore should be. Hand picked titles, in house reviews posted. Author events like twice a week. I always stop by ...and it's a couple doors down from Bartley's Burger Cottage too.
This is easily the best local bookstore in Boston. The Used Books section is the basement is unbeatable; full of bestsellers, classics, etc. Always be sure to check out the Staff Recommendations, too!
Harvard book store is a great local book store, a big shop with a lot of variety. A little overpriced, but they also have a decent used bookstore underneath. They're nicer to students than the Coop.
Good bookstore
i personally love book stores, and this one just stole my heart ❤️
not only is this store located in the harvard university campus, but it has a special collection of second hand books downstairs, in the basement, which are available for a little less half the original price
although, the collection here is a little expensive 😅, it’s definitely worth picking some books up from
This bookstore is one of the best I've been to on the east coast. Extensive collection of new books on the main floor and used books downstairs, always friendly and helpful staff.
Most important part of this store is its basement, you don't forget that check the basement out. You will find whatever you need, plus with moderate price.
Great store with a wide variety. I especially loves the staff recommendations for books
It was nice, found three out of four books without help and the staff helped me find the fourth. All in all good selection and friendly employees. Parking is rough, take the red line.
So friendly and helpful. Had one book I needed and was able to order the second one. Faster and more efficient than amazon. Will definitely be back soon!
Spoke to a wonderful bookseller in the Sci-Fi section who recommended a James Tiptree Jr. collection. Remember, you go to bookstores for two reasons: the books, and the booksellers. Harvard Bookstore is a huge success in both regards.
Really helpful staff and an expansive selection of books. I came in with a vague idea for a gift and the woman helping me had tons of ideas that worked perfectly. Also just a fun place to look around and read.
My favorite bookstore ever! In all honesty, it's one of the reasons that I call Cambridge home. As a graduate student, I even prefer to purchase all of my assigned books through the store.
Tons of new and used books. Super friendly staff!!!
Lovely book store, helpful staff.
Great place with a wonderful selection of books and gifts. The staff is very friendly and attentive and will help you find what you are looking for or recommend something.
Customer service in this bookstore was incredible. Way to go out of your way for the elderly man that was in front of me. And thanks for making my shopping and your store a delight.
It was like heaven for book lovers. Don't forget to visit the basement first 😉 …
Wide selection of books. Nice staff, but for me the best was possibility to buy used books in really low prices.
I love this place.
Surprised by 'industrial' building interior and lack of graciousness in ground floor book arrangement style - expected it to be more like Blackwell's in Oxford. Maybe academic section better - see website photos.
Great vibe but pricey for 2nd hand books :-/
What a shame!
The Harvard Bookstore staff are always kind and helpful when I have questions shopping online, and they do great with socially distanced curbside pickup.
Yes you now buy most of your books online. Now think about why you want to read a book in the first place and go to the nursery where they are raised and nurtured. You will find others of the kind you like or maybe even never dreamed of in close proximity to the ones you need. Combine that with the chance to actually hear one of these authors talk.... in your presence... while you are there... perhaps even interact with them in real life and real time.... why woud you not do this????? Go to the Harvard Book Store. You will not regret the experience.
I love this bookstore. Staff are knowledgeable, helpful and clearly love books. I've never had trouble finding anything or ordering something obscure
Best books in town
The last store in Boston that still ask the customers to wear masks. Respect.
What made this book store special was that it had this cozy setting. Lots of books around you, with some newspaper clippings on the wall (in the basement). I liked the atmosphere since it was book haven for me.
Support your local independent bookstore! Great selection and friendly staff.
Interesting and balanced collection of books on The Middle East.
A classic, rustic, local, bookstore that I’ve been coming to since I was a kid. It is a great place. Great to read in the downstairs section.
A real independent bookstore which actually chooses the books it offers -- much more than current bestsellers.
A great place to browse, with a friendly atmosphere, helpful staff, and late evening hours. Excellent collection of remainders and decent used books downstairs.
Compared to the Harvard Coop down the street, it is much smaller, but manages to have all the *best* books on a topic, while the Coop just has lots. Harvard Coop is better for technical books (comp.sci., math, stats, business), MIT Coop much better. Schoenhof's, a block away, is the definitive place for language learning and foreign language books.
The book robot lets you print and bind at a very reasonable price a huge variety of texts from Google Books -- or your own PDF. This is a fantastic service for those who are interested in pre-1920 books in particular, almost all of which (!!) are available. Massialot's ''Nouvelle instruction pour les confitures, les liqueurs et les fruits'' (1705)? -- it's there. Redhouse's classic ''Simplified grammar of the Ottoman-Turkish language'' (1884)? -- it's there.
Dear Harvard Book Store,
Curse you! I shake my fist at your near infinite selection of awesome used and discounted books. The savings become insignificant when I use bargain prices as my justification for buying 50 or so of them. I could get lost in your cavernous basement for hours, in fact I have. And I will continue to do so again and again with little remorse because you're worth it to me, darling.
-Love
Polina
The staff are amazing and the book selection is great. Plus, they'll order anything! The downstairs used book section is pretty good too
Check out book store in Harvard Sq. in MA for old and new books at huge discounted sales!
Wonderful place to browse and buy books. There is a book for everybody! Good prices. Used bookstore downstairs is excellent too. Great local bookstore!
You would assume, being Harvard, that this place is the best bookstore of all time. Granted they have a decent selection, but it's nothing incredibly special. If you're in the area, take a peak, but if not, I wouldn't sweat it.
For the bookie looking for intellectual readings, this is an excellent place. They buy your used textbooks, but it's only 10% so I wouldn't recommend it. Other than that, many interesting current and old books.
Great bookstore and very friendly staff 👍 …
Perfect just perfect
Interesting independent bookstore that is locally owned and operated . Very eclectic vibe and a neat place to visit. I would recommend but it is expensive
Awesome selection of books with really good deals for overstocked and used books. A lot of the used books you can't even tell have been used. Wish I lived closer by
Very fun historic place. Kids were all very friendly behind the counter. Great selection
Huge collection of books. Also a good disconnected used book section with a lot of choices. However the collection of tech or science books is poor. Graphic novel section is good though.
Loved it’s old books section- lot of books that you dont find anywhere you can get from cheap here. Also invites authors regularly to talk about their books, sessions are very informative and engaging
Excellent independent bookstore that stocks far more than the usual trendy fare. Classics, good literature, academic materials...it's all here. It's Harvard after all.
One of the best book stores for University students. Wide choice of themes for conducting excellent studies! Friendly staff and welcoming place.
Always my first stop when I visit Harvard Square. Their used book selection is both well-priced and excellent. Great for finding new books too, usually at a discount!
i need to come back for the author series!
Great place. SO MANY BOOKS. Has great books all genres I can think of at the time some great books on sale.
Update: Great!
Very good selection of books.
I can't resist to go inside everytime when I pass its front door.
The best part is it opens until late night.
WIth a broad selection and a knowledgeable staff the Harvard Book Store is an independently owned and operated bookstore that will help you find the obscure and the mundane. They are FULL of book magic. Also a basement full of used books to me is like bringing a fat kid to a candy store.
Really great book store. The remainders and used books in the basement offer a lot of interesting finds and good deals. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful.
It was windchill ,made me retreat fast to warm car , nicely lit and presented ambience. Keep it up .
You have to check their basement out. A lot of good and/or rare books in good condition and with discount
The used section has a fantastic collection of incredibly affordable books. They also have great book signing events and the staff is very friendly.
Excellent local bookstore with carefully curated but dizzyingly diverse books. Frequent buyer discounts are a nice bonus.
Nice store. All types of books, not just for the students.
Great cozy little book store in Cambridge with a nice selection of books and staff were super helpful! I just ordered through during vacation and was pleasantly surprised!
One of the few book stores left around Harvard Square. A great place to browse and read and buy books. They also gift wrap books for free.
I used to do all of my book buying here when I lived in the area. Lovely bookstore with a well curated selection of titles and very good staff.
Nice little book store. Shows it's age and history, enriching the experience. Great bargains right after finals.
Very home-y bookstore with a great historical-feeling atmosphere. The prices are far from bad as well, with the entire lower level serving as the clearance area.
An old school book store that seems to be thriving. Friendly staff and tons on books. Offered to order me a book that wasn't in stock and then found it in the used section.
Love seeing large bookstores in the age of Amazon. Almost an overwhelming selection but my wife and I both found some books that will interest us.
Love the indies. Support local bookstores! I attend a lot of readings here, and my life is changed a little bit every single time.
I loved there, design and varieties are great :-)
Great selection, excellent author events, well-curated used selection in basement. Love having a local bookstore.
Great service ..found the 2 books I was looking plus 2 more that are now on my must read list..
Small but excellent selection of a great variety of books new and old. Make sure to check out the book printer and used book selection in the basement!
This place is fantastic, especially considering it's been operating independently since 1932. A must-see in order to truly experience Harvard Square, in my opinion.
This is a great bookstore with a very good selection of books - as you would expect being near Harvard. One of the better selections in the Boston area!
Nice place to buy your books. Think about the used books, there is a BIG deal for them (1 to 4 usd).
Actually I expected more!
It was a pleasure to hear Liza Wieland read from her latest book , “Paris 7 A M .” Lovely evening (July 17)
Wonderful atmosphere with a wide variety of book choices. It's a great choice for stumbling upon something unique and new.
Bibliophiles will be pleased with the tall shelves and old fashioned organization. They host great events too.
Better selection of books than you might think. Plus a full basement of used ones at discount makes it even more fun to browse.
I Have Been A Frequently Visiting Since 1988 , Steadily Since 2015 .. I Cannot Thank Enough , The Owner's , Staff , Local Other Businesses , Local Civilian's , And OF Course Any And All HARVARD StidentsS , Harvard. Staff , And Many , Many Other's .. Great book store with a terrific used book section in its basement. Also regularly features author events worth putting on your calendar.
fantastic curated selection of books with many notes of recommendation, also very cozy
How book stores should be. Excellent non-fiction selection across wide breadth of subject areas. Feels welcoming to those just browsing.
Don't miss the browsing here!
Too expensive, but you can definitely find good stuff here. If you think about buying clothes or souvenirs the alternative stores around Harvard yard are a better option.
A good selection, including a great used section in the basement. Also always friendly and helpful staff, which I'm super impressed by, given their proximity to Harvard.
Great selection of books, exceptionally helpful staff, interesting array of authors' readings, good member discount, intriguing clientele of academics, tourists, & bibliophiles.
A great place, in all seasons, for all things.
A great bookstore with an excellent used section. The used section is very well organized. I always stop in when I’m in Cambridge.
A great book store to explore with an amazing hours. Don't forget to check out the used section in the basement.
Wide variety of books, easy to navigate, well organized.
Love Harvard Book Store -- especially the used book basement!!!!
Nice and very organized. Also you can get books from $1 to $3 on the out side stand.
Excellent bookstore. If they don't have it, they'll order it for you. Great selection of graphic novels!
If you want to read a book, but don't know what to read, come here and get inspired.
This place is so cool, I love the variety! It's pretty accessible, parking is slim on the weekends so I'd avoid driving if possible.
Classic bookstore with a cozy feel. They were super helpful when I was looking for suggestions for new reads for my son.
Beautiful!, every single person can find themself in one book of that book store. Almost a great place to live! hahahah
Great place to browse when you have a minute or two to burn near Harvard Square, their used book prices are fair.
Heavens and earth, yes. My first flying visit (1972) asked about a paperback Lattimore translation of Odyssey. Clerk at the cash pointed at the two dollar hardback on a remainder table.
Visiting ten years later, flying through town again, asked about Hooker's Laws of Ecclesiatical Polity. Again, clerk at the cash pointed to a two dollar hardback on the remainder table.
Perochoresis, those weirdly timed serieses of events that dance and swirl around us as we move through our lives.
Great book store that has new and used book store in the basement go the selection is smaller and larger stores the customer service makes up for it
As expected, this is a great bookstore, with lots of options. Make sure to check out the used books section downstairs.
Love it here! They great visiting authors and the staff is really friendly, and ready to talk about books!
Friendly staff and cozy bookstore with a great used section in the basement and occasionally, some great readings and author events.
It is a must visit place
Expected a bit more in the used books section.
Excellent selection of books. Good prices. Really love the recommendations of the staff.
Incredible place to find a wide selection of books with afordable prices and tasting the lovely feeling of bookhunting among meters and meters of shelves
Nice selection, but crowding around the holidays made navigating the store quite tricky. You may have better luck in less frantic times.
Well organized, extensive collection
A conveniently located bookstore with a rich selection of new books as well as a used books floor with lots of gems and great finds!
If you have time to look through their collection, then you may get the book which you are looking for. A good collection of used books.
Harvard Book Store sponsors author talks, which are either free, or cost $5 for the more famous authors. This is a great opportunity to hear authors read excerpts from their books.
Great resources and I got the idea again by spending the evening here that I need to get through medical school/law school etc. it was enjoyable talking to a staff member here about studying the Arabic language right before closing.
Nice old book store with some classics
Necesito place and very kind staff
The best book store.
I love from my heart .
And I'll invite my all friend to this store.
A large selection of new book upstairs, and a decent selection of used books in the basement. This bookstore isn’t affiliated with the university however.
One of the best bookshops I've visited. Their second hand and remaindered stock is an absolute treat to browse.
New and used books; all genres and great price; must visit shop in town.
Best bookstore around . Great atmosphere, wonderful and knowledgeable staff. Great selection.
Good selection of used cookbooks. Got a signed copy of Christopher Kimball's Milk Street for $20.
Great bookstore. The staff are very knowledgeable, their recommendations have been very good.
Visiting here was like a trial booking of heaven. Good books, very reasonable prices, great vibe.
Awesome variety. Used books were kind of expensive, almost the same price as new ones
Great choices available. Huge.
Beautiful place! Staff aren't very helpful and in typical "Harvard" fashion, you are dead to the staff the moment you swipe your card.
Very cool bookstore with lots of volumes to peruse even if you don't have textbooks to buy
Definitely cheaper than Barnes and noble and the staff are all super kind!
My favorite bookstore in Harvard. (Not affiliated with the school.) And I love that there's more than one bookstore in Harvard Square.
Harvard Book Store has very good COVID protocol, although I did linger as long as I normally do.
Great book store. Decent cookbook section. They put on excellent events too
Large, diverse collection of new and used books. Knowledgeable and helpful staff. It's a treasure
Good selection of books.
Ejoyedlooking at all the buildings at Harvard
The first time we visited, we had only about 15 minutes, and vowed we would come back to really dig in. It was well worth the second visit!
Absolutely amazing book store. Visit 3 times a week while on campus.
Love it!!! So much variety!! Even bought a book for myself despite never reading books beforee
Staff recommendations are excellent and abundant. My favorite bookstore. Love the cookbook display
Great location, and I also like that both new and used books were sold here
Diverse selection of new and used books (bargains are in the basement). Good variety of graphic novels.
Good collection of books, but it was confusing with Harvard University Coop because I thought it was the official book store.
It's shame that the clerk wasn't nice.
Harvard + bookstore what else can u say? It is just as awesome as I remember it years ago. 👍 …
Fantastic collection of books. Have managed to grow my photography monograph collection quite a bit!
A bit cramped due to being in Harvard Square and constantly full of people, but they have a great selection. Their yearly sale is always awesome as well.
The impressive selection of used books is enough to make this store worth visiting
Great bookstore to visit! One of my favorite places to spend time!
Best book store in the U.S. Great remainders and outstanding regular selection. Good reading series.
Large selection, fast service, right next to Harvard campus
Love the carefully curated local bookstore with national author visits.
Book selection is excellent and prices very reasonable
The staff is always helpful, they have a great loyalty program you and their used book selection is very good
A must-visit place in Harvard Square!
Never seen such a big bookstore. You are likely to find any book you want here
Lovely athsmospbere
It's a beautiful charming store with very attentive staff ready to help you.
One of the few independent bookstores in the area. Great selections and impressive calendar of personal appearances by notable authors.
The staffs here are nice and willing to help you find any book you want.
I feel good about that.
Our local independent book store with great books and interesting events. Once inside I never had a dull moment.
Not your average college bookstore. How Harvard of them to have primarily books... If you're looking for merch, I'd go elsewhere.
