The best comic store in the area. Tons of choices and all those vintage comics that are so hard to find. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and always eager to help you throughout your visit. Can't find what you're looking for? Ask them , most of the times they're able to order it.

You know it's a good shop when new comics are bagged. It'd be nice if they were board too but a win is a win! The back issue bins are priced too well though. They know how to make money that's for sure. You have to respect a shop that updates their back issue bins though. For sure stop here if you or someone you love is into comics, this is the place!!!

So many childhood memories. They have just about everything, though it feels a little less robust, compared to what it used to be. I wanted to look at variants/rare comics and had to look around staff multiple times--once in the back room, when the other did greet me, but didn't move out of the way of the comics I was trying to see in the glad case, then once or front when I was trying to see comics above the side door. Nostalgia carries this store.

This place is pure eye candy. There are so many options and there's something for everyone. I could easily spend several hours browsing. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable but, best of all, they are passionate about comics and cards and will totally nerd out with you.

Captain Comics is a great local comic book store in Boise. I was excited to find a limited to 500 signed comic book from none other than the great Kevin Eastman. It's #36 from the San Diego city comic con. I am a huge Turtles fan! Bought it and am happy to say I have a signature from the co creator of the TMNT.

If you're looking for the best hometown comic shop, this is the one to go to. Not only do they have an amazing selection of comics, they also sell trading cards and all the accessories you might need for them. I'm always running in here to see what's new, to grab a pack of cards or even pick up the latest variety comic cover. The best part is their commitment to fair prices and looking out for their customers. It's one of those places you almost hate to tell people about because you want to protect that little best kept secret! If I can buy something here over a bit box store I will always do it! The owner is amazing and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Can't praise them enough!

I am not a comic buff myself but brought clients in my line of work there many times-this place is AMAZING!!! If you are older like me-it's a fun place to take a trip down memory lane. Sgt Rock, the Archies, even Plop magazine!!! There is something for everyone. If you are a true collector they have an enormous of inventory even including rare high value comics worth many thousands-some so valuable they are in a safe. If you are on a budget they have comics for a dollar or 50 cents. The staff are true experts and so friendly and welcoming. If you are not into comics-visit them anyway-because you will be! This is one of the most wonderful unique shops in Boise and I hope they stick around-just a fun store with terrific kind-hearted people!

This is one of the best Comic Book stores I've ever been too! They have a very large variety of everything I like and am trying to collect at the moment which is Marvel Comics, Doctor Who, and Star Wars! They have a ton of older comics and a lot of new comics! We will definitely be back as soon as we can and we will be bringing some of our nerd friends along! 😂 The employees there are very friendly and helpful! They also have a nice little selction of polyhedral dice! Thanks for the experience guys!

Shop here, you will not be disappointed. The shop staff is super friendly and helpful. Come enough, they even greet you by name. Nothing like a business that takes the time to know the customers. Any issues, however minor, are remedied above and beyond what is necessary. Even though the shop is a bit far for me to drive, the staff make it a worthy drive to make each week. The selection of comics is nice too, but in the age of the internet that is not the reason to patronize a business. Any product can be shipped to your door, but you would miss out on meeting the wonderful folks at Captain Comics. Give them a try.

This is a very cool little comic book shop. They carry most all of the latest releases, have a huge selection of Magic: The Gathering cards, and various pieces of memorabilia and some other games. Clean, well organized, and the staff are quite friendly.

One of the best selections of magic booster decks going back at least 20 releases or more, a rare find for magic fans. Some boosters priced as low as $2.99! They’re keeping their customers and EMPLOYEES, which is something people seem to forget, safe. I mean, the fact that you are unhappy about being inconvenienced vs the employee and customer being safe is very telling about the type of person you are. If you read this, you’re a terrible person.

Very nice comic shop- I just wish they had longer hours! They have a fantastic subscription service, they can order you stuff and get in touch with you when it arrives, have a ton of back issues, and will buy and trade comics with you too. In addition, they have one of the better selections of Magic: The gathering boosters around!! They are also helpful and knowledgeable with comic value, and helped me price an expensive comic I owned. It's been years since I have been to Captain Comics. Love the new store and the help was great. My daughter picked 3 different titles. One of them was issue 8. The girl (sorry, didn't get her name) was awesome and helped with finding all of the back issues except #1 and #4. She ordered #1 for us and will be letting us know when it's in. I have always received good service but this, for my daughter's first comics... This was great.

Amazing place for comics, very reasonable prices. Going through Utah for the day was really happy with the service, and whats more they had a great and vast selection of back issues. Their selection is crazy! I showed up 10 minutes before they closed looking for a comic for a friend's birthday. Brandon stayed 10 minutes after close explaining different comics and helping me find the right ones. I showed up a week later to start buying some for myself and it just amazes me how nice and helpful everyone is!

The best comic store in the area. Not only a great place for comics and trades (If you're a huge Star Wars fan like myself, they've got plenty of comics--new and old!), but they also offer a wide array of action figures, board games, trading cards, posters and other collectibles. On top of that the staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. Everything on the second floor is discounted, and they've got plenty of 50 cent boxes. New or old comic enthusiast, Captain Comics is the place to go.

People who work here are very helpful and friendly. Very easy to add or pull titles. I love that you can reserve a comic, so they'll be a copy available for you. $20 deposit for subscriptions is a necessary evil, in case someone never comes to pick up their comics. Pretty much the only local comic shop left in the Treasure Valley and I'm glad it's a good one. Free boards if you use cash. Their bags on shelf comics are disappointed though... I always replace them and throw them out. That's a minor complaint though, better than no bag I guess.

Update to my past review: Bought a comic here that wasn't coming out till the next day (which I couldn't make it to) and they told me they could hold it indefinitely and allowed me to pay for it with the comic I was getting then! I had an INCREDIBLE experience. I’ve watched “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse” so many times and I love it so much, so I decided maybe I could try comics. I was the stereotype of a newbie and wanted to read the origins of Miles Morales & Spider-Gwen and had to ask an employee if what I chose was what I was looking for. Comics don’t have descriptions on the backs like books, haha. They went above and beyond for me. They explained the best storylines for the Spider-universe and went further to show me all sorts of other ones that are good for beginners and were geared to my interests - in multiple genres! The secret to this place is that they have everything you don't need but still want. You can go in looking for a single new issue that you didn't check the release date on so it's not in wander around and walk out with one hundred dollars of a new series because oh it looked cool and why not right.

The problem with cities with only one functional comic shop is that it is either crowded, or wiped out. New comics are only available if you pre-order, and back issues are only available via...EBAY.
