This bookstore was amazing! Very large selection, and the dividers for genres were very specific. I particularly enjoyed the YA section and was able to pick up this copy of The Outsiders for $8. Amazing condition, and a great find. The atmosphere of the bookstore is comfortable and unique. I will definitely be returning next time I’m in Asheville : )

Have a very quirky and unique vibe to this bookstore. If you're visiting first time, it might be a little overwhelming and confusing trying to find or figure out placement of books. They have a wide variety of selections plus collectible books that's worth thousands of $$. Worth a check!

Came in here on a Tuesday shortly after they opened. One of my kids was looking for the next two books in a series they’re reading. There was a person at the counter packing a box so I walked up and waited a second thinking they would acknowledge me after they were done. Someone else walked up to the counter and set a book down and the employee started checking them out. I then just asked to be pointed in the right direction to look on our own. He did tell me where to look and I found one if the two books needed. Another employee came in when we were headed to the kids section and they didn’t acknowledge us either. The price was good (half of retail) and there were some really fun things in there but the customer service was lacking. 1 star for service 4 for price.

This was a fantastic, reasonably priced bookstore! We could have spent all day in here. They have a humongous selection of used books on every subject you could imagine! The employees are pretty friendly and helped us throughout our visit. Behind the counter they also sell discounted tarot cards! I particularly enjoyed their table of dollar books! Please make sure to stop in!

Awesome bookstore to explore, plenty of seating to sit and enjoy your time if you can. They have a nice sale section, and fun mystery books that you can pick from (wrapped in paper with a short description written on it so you don't know what it is).

I recently purchased a book from Downtown Books & News and am so grateful to their kind and helpful staff for locating a rare book no longer published that I have been trying to find for a long time. Not only did they help me find it - turns out the price of it from them was better than I have seen anywhere over the past 20years... Which is why it has taken me so long to buy it. If you have a book you're looking for, check in with this store first! They had to order my book and it arrived sooner than they estimated! I recommend going across the street to Izzy's for a coffee while you turn the pages of your new book.

Popped in here for a while during a trip to Asheville. Accidentally lost an hour of my day looking through all the shelves. There's a massive selection of used books at great prices. I even found a 1934 edition of DH Lawrence in amongst some other mass market prints. Awesome!

You have to check out Book and News if you really enjoy a comfortable and friendly place in which to browse your favorite books.....and enjoying a cup of coffee as well. I have never walked in this shop without finding a book I had forgotten to pick up through the years.....or one that I realized I had to have a copy. In other words.....never walked out empty handed! Love it. Can't visit Asheville and not go in this bookstore.

This is an awesome location with lots of selection, and a very large space. They're all canceled little nooks and crannies and things that are fun for gifts or for use. The staff is actually very delightful and very helpful. There is a nice Ambience to the store and it is a comfortable place to spend the afternoon.

Can’t believe I am JUST now discovering this gem 💎. Have been on a used bookstore hopping spree this month, trying to find new go-to’s when wanting to increase my collections 📚 I. Love. This. Bookstore. 💖 the “inner knowledge” section aka metaphysical/new age section is GREAT! It’s not just one shelf either, it’s an actual section and even found an entire half of a cart in another section with books 🙌🏾. They also have a good YA Sci sci fi/fantasy section, I literally spent an hour over there going through all the books (partway trying to find the book one’s of the multiple series they have 😄. I love they have a snack section and plenty of seating all around the store. The prices are excellent too, I bought a few things (one being an antique book) all for under $30. It’s in the perfect location too so I was able to go across the street for lunch and down the street for tea after my shopping 💝. I also just found out they are open 7 days a week, every day of the year! I think this may be my new favorite used bookstore 🤫 don’t tell Mr K’s 😬😄

Hidden Gem out in Plain Sight. From outta town and was recommended by a local. Its comfy cozy without causing claustrophobia. Staff is kind and helpful . Not annoyingly fake and syrupy sweet. Love the "Blind Date" books. Great place. Check it out.

Seemed to me to be more of a used book store. Which was basically priced 1/2 what the price of the book has on it. They did have all the current local and global newspapers and magazines though. Chairs are spread all around so you can just browse before you buy. VHD
