Reviews of Manny's Bicycle
Took my bicycle for a few repairs it needed. I can't be happier I spent a similar fee on a more mainstream workshop and the results here were so much better. I really feel I have a new bike! And i love mine so is awesome to know rhis place is so near my new place. Super happy about both service and speed!
Owner (who is NOT named Manny) is the mechanic and a master of his trade. You get a master craftsman working on your machine often at very discounted rates
Shop is tiny & cluttered but don’t judge book by its cover they have everything you need
Very nice and helpful. Lots of accessories (better than some I've bought online) , helmets, bikes, rentals, even fix and install parts. My one stop shop.
Honest bike shop and friendly owner,
I started cycling a few months ago and quickly learned how most bike shops in NYC are just trying to ripoff customers, specially new cyclists. So after a few very expensive bike experiences I started doing things myself at home.
But emergencies do happen.
A few days ago, I was on my way to New Jersey to ride on 9W and my chain broke near the GWB. I didn’t want to walk all the way home so I googled a bike shop within walking distance to the bridge. I was very fortunate to find this place. Manny fixed my bike with a new Shimano Ultegra chain for a better price than what you see online (just for the part alone). He did not charge me for installation and also added a quick link to the chain. He was fast, friendly and professional.
When I was at the shop waiting for my bike a young man come in asking for chain oil. The lady at the counter gave it to him (also great price, since she gave it to him for $3 less than what I paid somewhere else). When he went to pay, he was one dollar short. Manny said, “give it to him, it’s okay.”
We need more bike shops like this. I will definitely be coming back.
Great service. Friendly staff!!! I posted that but I've changed my opinion. The repair guy is as unpleasant as he is not handy at all. The guy doesn't want to do anymore than he has to. He pretends not to understand English when its convenient not to. I've held my temper because I'm respectful. He messed up my bike and wont even attempt to fix it.
Was very helpful, got a tuneup and a helmet for under $75
Wasn't here when I first arrived but showed up moments after.
Small space but well utilized.
Manny was super helpful when my derailleur got pulled into my spokes. Had a new hanger and guide wheels and loaned me the tools to put them on ... I do most of my own bike work. He didn't try and upsell me.
I was on my way to another bike shop much further down (on the UWS), when I spotted this one. After reading the reviews on Google, it seemed like a good place to go. Have to take negative reviews always with a grain of salt and the very few I saw, were old.
And good thing, I did give it a try, cuz now I have a place to go to that is MUCH closer to home. Manny (the owner) was great. Quoted me on the spot with a fair price ($40 to change front and back breaks of my ebike — more expensive than regular bikes). He was done in 10 min - while I watched him work - and he showed me which breaks he was putting in (higher quality).
Giant Escape flat tire fixed - new inner tube installed for $17.00. Plus rim brakes adjusted, light wheel swing fixed - 5 minutes reliable w/little talk service.
I came in about half an hour before closing. My derailleur hanger had failed on the hill, and my chain got stuck between my cassette and spokes. They diagnosed the problem, replaced my hanger that they had in stock after trying to bend it first, and I walked out thirty minutes later. I only had ApplePay on me, and they took it! 10/10 experience.
I recommend this shop. I have taken my bike here several times and have always had good results.
I've been living in the city & riding year round for a couple years-- I've been to a few shops on Manhattan and Manny (the main dude) seems to be the most legit bike repair guy I've met.
Whereas other reviewers might have been put off by their style of customer service, I find his rough-around-the-edges demeanor refreshing. He cuts to the chase and makes necessary repairs & alterations that work- for cheap.
Manny’s Bicycle was able to quickly replace my bicycle spoke for a fair price. He even managed to get the nipple out after it fell into the wheel. Other stores didn’t have the right parts but Manny’s had it ready to go. As other reviewers said atmosphere isn’t the best, but it’s really not too dissimilar from a tiny hardware shop or other small business in a small store.
I'm sorry but the mechanic who I presume is manny the owner is a really obnoxious person. He thinks that he can diagnose an issue or lack thereof in a instant. He is not open to any reasoning other than his own. Regardless , I have tried to work around his attitude and chalked it down to a personality conflict between me and him. I've asked him to diagnose an issue on my bike and but he dismissed me by saying that theres nothing wrong. I wont get into particulars but in general he's just unpleasant to work with. I still tipped him 7 bucks for 3 minutes of his time he just took the tip and carried on like I was a nuisance to him. I'm glad I've changed my old ways after serving 3 years up top. Otherwise the only stars he'd get from me would be the ones spinning in his head right before he souled his shorts and said goodnight.
I rented a bike from them. Very convenient . They gave me bike that
matches my short height, offered helmet and lock chain for free. And for
$10 I got 2 hours of pure bliss. They added 20 extra minutes to let me be
on the safe side.
Manny's Bike Shop is amazing! I took my bike to a bunch of other places and they kept saying it was hopeless and I shouldn't ever bother fixing it. But at Manny's bike shop I got my brakes fixed for a great price and he even unbent my back wheel, which many other people had said wasn't possible. Anyways, I thought I was going to have to give up on my bike, but after going to Manny's bike shop my bike was up and running again and I'm so happy!
Manny took my bike in and installed a brake cable quickly for $12. I was pleased with the work, speed, and price, and that he was able to do it promptly while I waited.
My bike chain fell off under the GW bridge. I walked my bike up and over to Manny’s, and after a few mins waiting, he was able to get the chain back on and in working order w/i a few minutes. Great service. It cost $10, which is fair—especially bc I would have been in dire straits w/o the help!
Great service, very well priced, Manny really knows his bikes! saved me a number of times. A+
Manny was awesome! Had to replace my crank and was in and out within 30 minutes. Would definitely recommend for all bike tune ups
My pedal fell off because my crank thread was stripped. My bike was fixed in less than a half hour and was only charged $15. I'll be back for any bike need I have in the future :)
The prices are low and the place had a chilled laid back type of vibe. I rented a bike to tour around the neighborhood on a lazy day. I recommend this place to my family and friends. I will be using their service again.
Jose is a top mechanic. Where to find someone who knows and rides bikesLike this guy. excellent gem of a store.
Very helpful and great service. Good prices. Taught me some techniques for repairing my bike myself next time.
Great job
Manny is a nice guy, who's serious about bikes, and he does a great job, at a fair price. His shop is on a side street, a couple blocks from the 181st street A train.
Knowledgeable, friendly, quick, and fairly priced - this is my new home bike shop!
Love going into this spot. . The owner made me feel welcomed my first time here. Very good customer service!
The prices are very good, the store itself is not on a main avenue but service is very good and careful. For me the location was not very convenient compared to other stores close to Columbia but I prefer going there for the price of the services and work quality.
The man knows his craft. Quick, effective and well priced.
Friendly environment don't let the size fool you will find anything you need for your bike.
It is one of the best my best advice is to make an appointment there's nobody out there there's going to treat you like a like he does
Very good and fast service. I will recommend it . Price affordable. I could see they know what they are doing. Thank you.
Fixed a hard-to-find spoke for a fat tire e-bike.
