Reviews of Bicycles NYC
This is a great store. I've bought all of my kids' bikes there. Really good selection of bikes but what sets them apart is the level of service. I recently bought a new bike for my commute; I have an artificial leg, and the folks who work there took a lot of time with me to help me get the right set up so I could comfortably, confidently and safely ride.
This has been a neighborhood staple for many years and as we know, shops come and go. But even with name changes, this UES bike shop is true to its core. The staff is helpful and the mechanics are the best. Would happily recommend this shop to anyone that's looking for a new bike or need to tune/service their existing ride. Thank you Bicycles NYC!
The people here are so wonderful! They helped me with my tire replacement 30 mins before closing right away and because their system was down it was free! Just such quality service and made my day! Good karma to this shop! Repair pros
Good place with great service. They’re Brompton friendly. Often times no waiting time to get work done on your bike they’re quick and efficient.
What everybody else said: this is a beautiful, well -stocked shop run with great integrity by a team that happens to include some of the most gifted bike mechanics around. I brought my commuter bike in with a couple of odd creaks and rumbles, the result of years of neglect from both me and past mechanics. A few days in the care of Sam and his colleagues and now she purrs like a Ferrari and rides like one, too. I'd schedule my next orthopedic surgery with them if I could. It's not my closest bike shop, but certainly worth the trip.
I came across Bicycles NYC a few times during my near 5-month search for a bike. I was hellbent on getting a Giant Fathom and after two horrible experiences with past stores, I finally reached out to BNYC and am so glad I did. A bit hard to reach by phone, I sent a message via Google and Jeff contacted me shortly after to address my concerns and confirm the stock. I believe it was a day off for him, so I appreciated his help.
The in-store experience is just as great. Sam, one of the managers, helped me in figuring out if the fit was perfect (thankfully it was!) and made suggestions for a different dropper posts I can purchase. Because the stock dropper was too high, Sam gave me a temporary seatpost so I could try and get a ride or two in AND pedals--for free. It's been a few days since the purchase, I'm still communicating with Sam on getting the dropper post and I'm more than pleased that I chose BNYC. They're knowledgeable and patient. It's also worth mentioning that I was quite happy to see Black employees at the store. There's an open area in the front of the store to perform bike fixes and get acquainted with your new purchase.
To Jeff and the team--thank you so much for your help so far. I can't wait to build a great relationship with you. To those of you that have complained of bad service, leave the bad energy outside and help protect their space. 🤷🏾♂️
Terrific service brought my bike and for a spring tune up very reasonable pricing!! They even cleaned it off!!!
Excellent Customer Service! I called Bicycles NYC to inquire about boa dials as one of mine were broken. I was in desperate need of one as I was riding in the Rapha Women’s 100km in a couple of days. Sam assured me they were in stock and to just come in. The next day I took the trip to the UES from Flatbush and found out Sam wasn’t there and he was the experts on boa dial installations. Even though Sam wasn’t there, they said they would work on installing my dial however they had bicycles that were first priority in which I strongly agreed. I told them no problem, I’ll be working remotely close by so there was no rush. A couple of hrs later I call the shop and Sam answers! I get excited and he asks for my number as he was going to call me when he was done.
Well let me tell you folks this, Sam calls back in less than 20 minutes! I’m like “OMG thank you so much”. Sam came in on his day off to fix my shoes👏🏾👏🏾! That is what I call going above and beyond. Also, he waived the fee of the dial and installation. WOW! The whole team there was super kind, knowledge and most importantly honest. Guys , I hope you enjoyed the cookies from Levain.
These guys are absolute stars, picked up a bike today, nothing was too much trouble, took time to set the bike up properly for me. Sam and the team deserve your business. Go buy something from them don’t use the Internet, support your local bike shop 👍 …
Been here a few times for test riding, service, part buying. All interactions have been excellent. As a noobie they never spoke down to me. Will be coming back.
Great shop. I have been to a *lot* of bike shops in at least a dozen different cities, and this one stands out to me as one of the most helpful and competent. Everyone I spoke with was friendly and helpful. They re-sealed my tubeless cx wheels and packed/shipped my bike, and they did a great job on both. I expect to spend a lot more time in NYC going forward, and I'm glad to have a shop that I trust!
What a great shop. Friendly, knowledgable and just plain fun for anyone who cares about bikes. Awesome selection of used bikes, with some eclectic stuff for sure. Stop by and check em out!
Been riding for over 30 years and been and seen a lot of shops.
These guys are on top for both customer service and mechanics.
Another shop did a below average job on my stem and told me I need to buy a new stem in order to get what I wanted.
Went to then and they could easily said the same thing and I wouldn’t argue and pay but they managed to fix it and As e me the money.
Bottom line they are highly recommended.
Great experience. I bought my bike here, the team was very friendly.
The bike was good quality and has held up so far. If you buy a bike from them you get free repairs though so if ever you have an issue you can go and they will help you quickly.
Everytime I have gone there were multiple employees so you never had to wait too long to get helped. They also have tools on the outside so if ever you need to tighten a screw you can just swing by. Thanks NYC Bicycles!
Went in for a bike fit on a new bike. Sam did a complete work up, checking my flexibility, body structure, discovered a hitherto undiscovered leg length imbalance, and set me up, from cleats to saddle to cockpit. Knowledgeable and efficient. Appreciated the fact that Sam didn’t try to upsell me on equipment I didn’t need (although this shop seems well-stocked in case you want to go that route). All in all great experience and would definitely recommend.
I have been to quite a few shops in my time, but Bicycles NYC is different. Owner Sam Richardson and staff are knowledgeable, skilled, and above all, welcoming and kind. They are constantly in pursuit of giving the customers value, as opposed to just making you buy more stuff. I am thankful to call this “my local shop”
The nicest guys take and work on what you need right in front of you. Fair prices. Quick services.
Love this shop! Great friendly staff, reasonable prices for NYC with no upselling. They’ve done a great job of tune ups, ordering & installing special parts. Shout out to Sajari who does free basic maintenance workshops at noon on Sundays!
Had an awesome experience here. They're super knowledgeable, and really go the extra mile. I went to have a road bike adjusted/better fit for me, and they spent a ton of time and effort getting it just right - and wound up only charging for the parts, not the services/labor. I'll definitely be coming back to this spot as my go-to in NY; highly recommend.
If I could give more stars, I would! The staff in the shop have now saved me twice! Early in the pandemic, they made time to assist me with a tire change for my newly acquired electric bike and accommodated me in under an hour. When I got another flat that stranded me on the 59th St. Bridge, the fantastic crew let me make a special appointment - at a time when they would normally be closed - so that I could safely get my bike back to Queens and have it available for my commute the next day! Again, they serviced my bike in under an hour and even adjusted my front brakes as a courtesy (and without me asking) during my tire change.
I cannot say enough good things about this shop! Friendly and knowledgeable staff in a fun and welcoming environment. I make it a point to get all of my gear and parts here versus online shopping. The human connection and service make this a place I love to support!
They fixed the dreaded bottom bracket noise quickly and efficiently. Good price also! I got my bike back cleaner than I expected too.
I cannot be more happy with Bicycles NYC, Rob did troubleshoot a non production electric bike in a crazy fast turnaround. He resolved issues that other mechanics couldn't for months. I recommend without any hesitation. Great team! Thanks. David
Edit 10 months after, I had to fix an electrical issue on same bike and Rob did his magic again. Thanks 🙏🏽
Today 05/06/2021 I visited the store with my daughter who was considering to purchase an electric scooter. Sam attended to us and our many questions. He was really attentive, professional, welcoming and very thorough. The customer service experience was excellent. Thank you so very much for your service. We will return to this store for all our wheel needs.
This bike shop is very special! Shane , Sam are extremely knowledgeable about bikes and bike’s components, they are very friendly and welcoming and never rush you and always ready to answer any question and help. The sales persons are very patient and knowledgeable as well. The Mechanics are absolutely fantastic, dependable , talented , knowledgeable and very helpful. I have been going there almost 10 years and it is a Gem of a place. Highly recommended with lout hesitation.
BIKE LIFE! I feel a little crazy that I didn’t know this place was at this location. I’ve walked past it a thousand times. It’s tucked away in a lower area of the side walk so pay attention because I don’t want you to miss out on this gem. Searching for a bike for my husband. Living on the upper east side I really wanted to shop close to my neighborhood. This place had EVERYTHING I needed. Stock was the most important as I needed to present the bike same day as a birthday gift. First I called to ask about stock in a size large for a tall person. The staff was extremely friendly over the phone so things started off great. When I arrived they were super helpful and very knowledgeable about what I needed. I got my bike, a lock, kick stand and had the bike serviced before it rode it home. My husband LOVES It! Thank you guys for all of your help. Looking for the best bike shop nyc? Come here as you will not be disappointed.
Great staff! Very helpful when I purchased my bike online and had it built in their shop. Also, more importantly, they are very strict with their health & safety policies due to COVID. I'd like to thank Jeff as well for diligently answering my emails for bike updates.
These guys LOVE bicycles. And everyone is a font of knowledge. I enjoy their banter (e.g. I went in to shop for a lock for the Specialized hybrid I got there and one employee said "get this" and then another employee was like "no, get that, it's better" and then they have a friendly debate, each one extolling the benefits of the one they had recommended.) 90% of the time you go in the store, you can hear a convo or debate about bikes. That's unlike any other retail store I've ever been to. Mostly, you have to interrupt two people having a conversation about their weekend plans. I've not needed a repair yet but I will be bringing my bike back in for a tune-up. The vibe in this store is just what I want from my bike shop. The people are friendly and the selection is great. I had no idea what I really wanted but when I told them what my cycling habits were and my needs and future goals, they knew exactly what I needed. I would have selected a large frame, but they said XL would be better. So far, they have been right about everything. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this store.
It's not just about new bikes, the service here is stellar and fast and effective. I brought in an older bike for a tune-up, then took it out for spin afterwards and had one of those moments where you say to yourself, "oh, so this is how it's supposed to ride! I don't want to go home, I should've had this done much sooner." Truly well done. And as mentioned in other reviews, the gang is Covid-careful.
Great shop. Went in thinking I needed a new chain and cassette. The mechanic took one look at the bike and knew what advice to give. Turns out I just ride too much in the higher gears. This shop both saves money and will overall improve your experience on a bicycle. I had no idea I had been riding incorrectly for years. Now my bikes last longer!
Be prepared to get your wallet out. Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere but after getting home I found my helmet for $80 on several websites.
Seraji-fine and exceptional human being and amazing business person. As I was shopping around for a Brampton bike, I spoke to Seraji over the phone, asked him some questions and it was his genuineness, respectfulness, fine attention and simplicity that were the deciding factors in purchasing the Brampton bike at your store. As a customer, I felt valued and acknowledged although I am not your typical white-male bike-rider. I was willing to go to New Jersey if I had to get the Brampton bike as expected, brand-new from the box and above all provided with quality customer service. What I was not going to do and did not do was to put my money in businesses that have forgotten what decency and respect means. Seraji, it was your quality customer service from beginning to end that made me a happy customer thank you and so I am delighted to give your store five stars. Keep rocking Seraji!! Alexis.
These guys are the best. Always affordable, and quick! Turn around obviously depends on how busy they are ( always seem very busy!) but it’s never taken more than a day to get my bike back. Went in today for a bit of work and walked back out in about 25 minutes. Guys are Really knowledgeable and super pleasant. Highly recommend.
This place is great! Lucas was very helpful and generous with advice. I felt very welcome and was pleased with the excellent service. At no point did anybody jump down my throat with sales. I was given a number of options for bicycles and helmets and left satisfied. Has an excellent selection of bikes, accessories, shoes and helmets. Will definitely return for any of my cycling needs.
Galen was very helpful. I came in to replace my 2001 Sidi cycling shoes and with her professional help I left with a great new pair I love!
Great place to buy an e-bike. They carry all the top brands, including Gazelle and Tern, and are total experts on keeping them running. The staff is really nice and helpful, too.
The people at this store are dedicated and competent. They are the only ones who [in just one hour] were able to solve a problem with my electric bicycle that had been nagging me for over a year. They make a real effort to help and to accommodate your needs. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommended
Brought bunch of components and asked to assemble bike, so happy with result and a customer experience. Thank you!
Such a great neighborhood bike shop. I could share a story about astonishingly good customer service on a bike that I had purchased a year earlier. They spotted an issue, and went above and beyond to make it right… and I wasn't even asking them to do so.
You can buy a bike anywhere; the question is care and service you receive after you walk out the door. Purchasing a bike from Bicycles NYC was the best decision I made. There were some issues with the tires that came with the bike and they took quick and professional care to resolve the problem. Gears needing some adjustment: stop by the shop, quick fix and off you go. Shout out to Sam and Sonia for making my biking experience a positive one.
It's difficult to fully describe the level of expertise and service provided by this shop. Sam helped me and my girlfriend source and fit a pair of road shoes and was very thorough in the process. He provided very insightful advice of cleat placement for my girlfriend's pair of shoes and was brutally honest about the marketing myths of certain shoe attributes and provided with what we actually needed. In conversation with Sam, he clearly knows the up-to-date news about cycling shoes and is seemingly active within the community of shoe fitters and designers.
For my pair of shoes, he helped me source a properly sized shoe and I scheduled an appointment with him for further cleat fitting beyond the initial advisement. The additional cleat fitting is certainly needed given the time I put in the bike for training and racing. The price was fair and good investment given how critical (IMO the most important) these contact points are on the bike. Sam was patient throughout the entire process and provided insight on each phase of the fitting. The fitting looked to maximize efficiency and power output and provided support for injury prevention but will need more time on the bike to empirically make this judgement fair. Will look to update this review in the future.
Excellent customer service. Stopped in with a deflated tire on an old bike and the employee gave lots of tips to someone who's new to cycling. They are very knowledgeable.
I loved my experience at Bicycles NYC! All of the employees are helpful, friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Sam helped me find everything I needed, within my budget, without pressuring me or over-selling me. I am so pleased with my purchase from this shop and will surely be returning for any future accessories or tune-ups as a happy new bike owner!
This is a such great shop! The staff is friendly and super knowledgeable! I've never felt like they were trying to hard sell me, and they're fun people to joke around with (Keith especially). The mechanics are probably the most experienced bike wrenches in the city, and the service prices always seem fair. If it's a quick fix, they'll usually even take the time to do it on the spot. I've definitely been in on busy days when they can't help right away or it's a bit of a wait for service, but it's a small business in NYC so that stuff is expected. I'm still waiting for you guys to start a group ride though!!
Yeah, I just went to put some air in my tires and I didn’t even had to enter the shop. Someone came out and helped me as soon as I arrived. Helped with my tires, super fast (the front one was missing a little piece). Great experience, would come again!
I am so amazed by this establishment. I spoke to two people over the phone and they were both super friendly and chill And the guy even remembered me when I walked up to the store. Just moving here from Miami I need to find somewhere that I could service my bike and I’m so happy that I found this place. I literally walked in at 7:03 and was out by 730. Amazing amazing time management and service. I love that they service all brands of electric bikes and will definitely be telling all of my friends about this amazing place. Thanks so much!
This is my LBS. I've bought several kids bikes there, had them build a bike purchased elsewhere, and have had them repair/replace parts on my bike numerous times. Luis is a great mechanic. Shane & Adrian always answer my questions but never push me to buy something that isn't right for me. The quality has really improved over the years.
I purchased my bike here 5 years ago when I lived on the UES. I now live in the West Village but they are still my go to bike store for all my needs. Why? Because their customer service is second to none. Any time I have gone they have adjusted my bike or given me a tune up without any run around. The employees listen to your questions and give you valid answers that make sense. Thank you Bicycles NYC!
What an awesome experience. I'm just getting started with cycling and know very little but felt like an expert thanks to Andrian. He took the time to explain everything to me. He was knowledgeable but spoke in laymen terms I could understand and there was never any pressure to make a purchase just to ensure I knew what size bike I needed and then the color I really wanted. There was NO way I was leaving that store today without buying a bike simply because of the service I received and I'm certain it will be exactly the same when I pick my bike up next week.TOP NOTCH shop with TOP NOTCH people. I appreciated everything and you've established a customer for life!!!
Read online that this was the place to go to for indoor spinning shoes. Terrific customer service - salesman patiently answered my questions, and helped me find the right fit. Highly recommend!
My mountain bike tire exploded today on the way to work thanks to construction in the bike lane. Fortunately it happened right next to the only bike store open at 9 AM in the area. They replaced my tire with the identical type within 15 minutes and gave me a great price without even asking. Very nice and helpful staff. I wasnt there to shop, but from what I could see they had everything youd need to ride in the city, including a nice selection of bikes.
Lots of COVID precautions (a good thing!)- two customers in the store at a time. Definitely call ahead if you need a repair since they are very very busy. I went to get a new saddle and the staff was very knowledgeable and quick to ask if I needed help.
Sam, the spin shoe guru, really knows his stuff. Forget about going on line. Sam, who keeps what seems like a huge inventory, figured out what I needed based on my particular feet, body, shoe needs, and cycling style. Then he brought out options at different price points and features. I went away happy and very impressed. I bought a great pair of shoes with a guarantee that if I wasn’t satisfied (after using them) , I could bring them back. Wow.
This is written in June 2020. In a couple of year's time anyone reading this just won't believe that I walked from the Heights to the UES to buy a bike. But I did. And I'm glad I did. I got precisely what I wanted at a price that was more than reasonable, the staff were cheerful and helpful even though they were clearly super busy. And I felt valued even though it's obvious I'm a chubby. middle-aged and haven't ridden a bike in 25 years. Fantastic experience.
Luke and the rest of the Bicycles NYC team were incredibly supportive, knowledgeable, and eager to help. I stopped in to check out a specific model of bike with no way to bring it home. They were more than willing to assist me with clear understanding that I would not be making a purchase.
Luke set up the bike, shared secrets for navigating traffic in Manhattan, and sent me on my way. He explained how belt drives and hydraulic disc brakes work with a deft sense of humor. His easy manner was instrumental in me feeling comfortable on a new and unfamiliar bike in New York City.
I would recommend Bicycles NYC to anyone in the area looking to buy or rent a bike. If given the chance, I wouldn't hesitate to spend my money in their shop.
So i follwed someone on Instagram who posts alot of cycling stuff! He worked on my bike and really did a great job! I love how he installed and cleaned up my humble rig! So if your looking for a bike shop in the heart of the city with bike mechanics with big hearts! Then this is the place! Look for shawn!!! After my 1st ride with the bike my wife laughed coz i told her. Thats it!!! “Only shawn touches my Bike”
Hi guys, okay, l was in 3 Bicycle stores in upper west side before I got here, and no one fix my problem, and Could not fix my problem.
SO TO THE POINT! BNYC JUST GAVE ME Such a good customer service I didn’t need to wait for to long actually barely waited maybe two minutes
Guys thank you for who you are !!
So guys This is the store you BNCY do the best Customer service.
what’s funny is
Its just 3 blocks from where I live, and I didn’t know
These guys are 2 Legit 2 Quit. The manager is friendly and very fair. The mechanics have some real diverse experts on the team. Quality product and Superb custie service. You won’t leave unsatisfied. Pause
I stumbled upon a YouTube video by SpinShoeGuru about wide cycling shoes which happened to be shot by Sam at Bicycles NYC. So I came in looking for these wide fitting Lake CX237 cycling shoes. Lucas sized me and made sure I was in fact a wide width and what the proper length was. He seemed very knowledgeable and was thorough. Although they did not have the model/size I needed in stock, they ordered them.
I could easily have left and ordered it from my go-to online retailer, but I really feel that after the time Lucas spent with me, it was the right thing to do and support a local small business. I had to wait a few extra days and had to return back to the store to pick them up, but in this case I felt it was worth it.
When I returned to pick up my order, Adrian attached my cleats in a neutral position and they were perfect! I didn't have to adjust them at all! So happy with everything. The customer service here is excellent!
I've gone back to Jeff's for multiple items, helmet, gloves for winter biking, bike bag, bike rack, a second set of wheels and disc brakes for an older mountain bike. The service was always honest, courteous, knowledgeable and fast. They deal with a wide range of bikers and treat all of them with respect.
Definitely one of the best bike shops I've been to if not the best.
Excellent and extremely knowledgeable staff. Great bike fitters that really understand the individual needs of the cyclist and what their goals are and fit fit accordingly. Also great selection of components.
I just want to let you know of the great service that I got while at your shop whilst on holiday from England in june 2015.
I wanted to get a new pair of bib shorts; so I searched and found your shop via Google.
I walked in and started looking around then one of the staff asked If I needed any help and I told him I'm looking for a pair of shorts that would be comfortable for long rides (3hrs+). I also told him that I'm not a racer, most of my riding is to work but when I get the time I'll go for a long ride.
He recommended the Gore Oxygen shorts. It's what he has and they're good for that length of time. From the way he talked I thought I'd give them a go so I bought a pair and they are WONDERFUL!
The shoulder straps are nice and broad so they don't dig into you and the pad felt great after a 32mile ride. I went for the medium upon the advice of the man who does your purchases (I don't remember his name). I told him my measurements and he said I fall between a small and medium. He went on to say that the small would come up tight whereas the medium would be a more comfortable fit .....he was right!!
Just before I left my wife pointed out a cool jersey...a black and white Team Brooklyn (Chewing Gum) jersey. She said it looks great and would go well with the bibs I'd just bought, so it was bought as well. I wore it with the bibs when I went for a ride and when I saw my reflection in a shop window a big smile crossed my face....the image of the kit was impressive.
Thanks a lot for the staff that helped me in choosing my gear, thanks for their willingness to share their knowledge and passion for what they do and if I'm back in New York again I'll try and pop in.
The customer service at this bike shop was amazing. I showed up with a fender dragging against my wheel and flat tires. They had my bike fixed in 10min and didn’t charge me!! I will be back here for sure.. thank you Sam!
I recently visited the Big Apple and spent some time checking out various bike stores with a view to investing and dropping a bit of the winter insulation around my midriff. I found the guys at BNYC to be incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. I don't know much about bikes and cycling which can make some stores intimidating as a certain level of expertise can be expected of the customer. Not so here. The guys appreciated I didn't know what I wanted and gave me recommendations and advice based on my needs. The store is also lovely to walk around and browse in even if you're just a cycling enthusiast and I never felt pressed by a "hard sell" approach. I'll certainly go back for my next purchase. Thanks guys.
Extremely knowledgeable and helpful sales team. Expert mechanics on deck ready for everything and perhaps the best shoe guy in the business (@spinshoeguru). This is why I'm willing to travel 10 miles to be serviced by the best NYC has to offer!
*** I've updated my review from two stars to four stars since the owner/manager had the decency to respond to my concerns and offer a refund. While I won't accept the nice gesture, I will update my review to more accurately reflect their commitment to customer service. ***
Where to begin? I bought a starter road-bike on Amazon for $250 because I have absolutely no experience riding and wanted to see if this was something that I'll actually do consistently. I assembled the bike myself (it was quite simple) but noticed that 1) the tires were flat 2) the front brakes were rubbing.
I figure, simple enough - let me take the bike to the shop and have them take care of the finishing touches. Not so simple. I explain to the gentleman who comes over to help me what I want done, and he immediately starts asking me where I bought this bike and how long I've had it. He then says that he will have to charge me an "assembly fee" of $80, despite the fact that NOTHING needed to be assembled and all I really needed was air in the tires and a brake adjustment. I obviously object to this price and reiterate what I want done to the bike. The gentleman then says that he will do a "safety check" on the bike for $35. Pretty ridiculous, but whatever, it's my first bike and I'm a biking idiot, so go ahead and take my money for some peace of mind.
When the job was done (I'm guessing it took about 10 minutes at most), the person starts asking me what I paid for the bike. I tell him $250 and he proceeds to tell me to sell it immediately and to buy a "real" bike from their store. He says that my bike will maybe let me go three blocks, at most, and that I would "kill myself on this thing."
I get that you're in the business of selling bikes, but telling your customers that a brand new bike they just bought is a death sentence is a bit much. You would have been better served explaining to me the value of the bikes you have in stock and why spending $400 more on one of your bikes is worth it in the long run.
Additionally, charging me $35 for air and a "safety check" is a bit ridiculous, but that's the least of my worries.
I give you this feedback not to trash your store (I'm sure you all do good work) but so you can perhaps guide your staff to improving their selling style to be more consultative instead of insulting.
Excellent bike shop. Their prices are right (for the neighborhood), the service is excellent, and the staff is knowledgeable. They have the good vibe that makes you love biking in New York. Highly recommended.
Went today to possibly buy a new pair of lake shoes. First off all these guys are super responsive . I sent them a text over google and they responded immediately to let me know that they had what I was looking for . Sam dealt with me . Anything I say about Sam is an understatement. He is by far one of the most knowledgeable fitters I’ve met. He really took his time getting to know my feet!(which are terrible btw). Gave me enough information to make a decision. I didn’t feel pressured to buy anything which is always a plus but I’ll definitely make it my primary store in the future
For sure the best bike shop in the city. The mechanics are awesome and professional, salespersons know about bicycles, they are listening to and give me always the right solution or products. The shop is clean, beautiful and has a lot of selection of products. The staff is really friendly: I Love Bicycles NYC !!
Well stocked bike store, can get almost anything you might need, from high-end bikes to lights for your winter rides. You can also get you bike fixed quickly, I have had punctures during my daily commutes fixed here twice.
If I could give 10 stars for this place I would. Come here for tune-up, part replacements and bike apparel/equipment. The BEST and seriously so chill. I had a Thule saddle bag that broke - I showed the guy a picture and he immediately knew what part I needed. He went to the back of the store and ripped the part off an old Thule bag he had and gave it to me, no qualms. How cool is that? Was about to drop another $130 for a whole new bag. Made my week.
I was in town visiting and thought I'd try to find a local bike shop to do some work on my son's '80s era Peugeot single speed. I called a few shops but no one seemed too interested until I go ahold of Bicycles NYC. The crew there helped me find a new rear wheel that would work without needing to upgrade any other parts. They also found a sweet flat bar that makes the bike look clean and fast. This shop sells high-end carbon bikes to high-end Upper East Side customers, but they treated me and my vintage bike with a ton of respect, and got the work done during my short visit. Thanks Bicycles NYC!
Such an incredible staff, so friendly I forgot I was in NYC. Very talented, reasonably priced, and efficient. Worth the trip in from
Bk. Thanks!
Jeff and team were extremely helpful with purchasing a Gocycle GXi and several accessories online.
Jeff coordinated quickly with Gocycle to ship the Bike and accessories from their Boise, ID warehouse.
He also worked with “Bike Flights” to ship the bike to my home in Philadelphia, PA. (I don’t live in New York city but travel fairly often to NYC. Bicycles nyc wast my best option for Gocycle reseller and authorized maintenance/service)
All in all, I received the bike at home in Philly today, just two work-weeks since I first reached out to Bicycles NYC (I don’t think there was any other way to get the bike to me any quicker. Especially during a pandemic and extreme high demands for bikes/service they are experiencing).
As such, I’ll be able take the Gocycle for a test drive tomorrow and do my first 15mi commute to work on Monday!!!
Thanks again all and look forward to meeting in person when I bring my bike for the recommended checkup after the first 100mi of riding.
Thank you so much!!
Sebastian
Had a disc brake issue that Adrian was able to fix within an hour. When asked, he was happy to explain the repair and I learned to never depress the brake lever of hydraulic disc brakes when the wheel and rotor are off the frame. Adrian showed me the repaired brake pads assembly which helped identify the exact cause of the problem which will prevent a recurrence. Thank you! I’ll be back.
I've gotten parts and service from this shop and must say it's the best shop on the UES. Very knowledgable and friendly staff all around, salespersons and mechanics alike. Sam the manager knows EVERYTHING there is to know about cycling/spin shoes also. Thanks for your help!
I've been coming here for years and everyone is always super kind, honest, non-intimidating and helpful. I have the most amazing custom built Dahon with a kickback shift that they've lovingly been keeping in great shape for the past 7 years through many miles.
I recently shipped my 2018 Specialized Roubaix Pro in a bike box, so I brought it in to look at a hydraulic brake/lever that didnt seem quite right. Sure enough, Luis the bike mechanic said he needed to bleed/refill the brake fluid, and he also conducted a thorough safety check, making several little but important tweaks to ensure everything was done to optimal specification— bolts torqued, brake pads centered, he even noticed a small wobble in the rear brake rotor and used a special tool to straighten it.
Finally, they alerted me of a recall that was just issued due to a steerer tube collar issue that could be very dangerous if I rode the bike, so they urged me to wait until the replacement part arrived in a few weeks and they would replace it at no cost!!
Bottom line — these guys really care and it shows. I live closer to another Specialized dealer but will always call Bicycles NYC MY local bike shop!!! Thank you Shane, Luis and the rest of the staff for caring so much!!
Dropped in there last Saturday while I was on a run. Wanted to see the Gocycle GX in person. They enthusiastically sent me on a test ride. Also, walked me through a few other options, including some cargo ebikes that might work for my wife that wants to haul our kids around. I'm going back in a couple weeks to place an order.
Great place to spend your money. Nice, friendly, and experienced staff.
I came from Japan and I was planning to bicycle from NY to MIA FL although I have little knowledge of those stuff. so I wasn't sure if I could do that, but I just followed their advices and bought minimum things they said I should have. First of all, I made it all the way from NY to MIA, and I wanted for nothing during the time.
You shoud definitely choose this place even if you're beginner like me.
Thank you so much!
I’m not a expert reviewer or bicyclist-just a guy on a esoteric cargo bike dropping my kids and needing a cassette and gears replacement. Nice guys, good service.
Super friendly staff!! They assembled my bike in a half an hour when all the other places said it would take 3-4 days. This shop is very affordable too.
Great store with very knowledge staff to help you with everything. They also offer repairs. I had a few issues with a new carbon fiber bike which I bought from them and they we're awesome.
Purchased some lake mx238 bike shoes from these guys. Absolutely premium. The shop guys are extremely helpful and create a good buying experience
It's very easy to dump on a place when you don't have to look directly at the person you're dumping.
this is a very good bike shop with a lot of quality merchandise and doesn't seem to have outrageous prices. that being said, it's in the city, where i've never seen any shop give it away except for some small shops downtown (which are also great) where you can get used stuff for very cheap.
some of these nicer bike shops are full of snooty weight weenies, but this place doesn't seem to follow that trend.
also, they're the only yeti dealer in the city, booya!
I came here for spin shoes. I heard about Sam, the spin shoe guru. They had the biggest selection that I've seen in New York. I was totally sold learning that any shoes I buy from Bicycles NYC are 100% guaranteed against any type of problem or issue. Super helpful staff. A+
Best bike shop! Always helpful, super quick and efficient, prices ok. Just wish I could take you with me when I return to Europe next year.
Will is a grade-A bike mechanic, would refer everyone I know to this bike shop. All staff are friendly and helpful. Bike shop is reasonably priced for the neighborhood
Love this shop! Super helpful staff, lots of great products and always very willing to help you with anything once you've purchased a bike from their shop. Highly recommended!

We have been going to Bicycles NYC for the past 20 years. The staff are knowledgable, careful and very helpful, especially Dennis. Little to no wait time. Great store!
I don't know where to begin. These guys bring the bike shop experience to the next level...
The combination of experience, knowledge and attention to detail is the standard treatment each and every time I have a need or want with my bicycle.
Got custom insoles. Feel fantastic
Definitely one of the good bike shops in NYC. While I was in search of a new helmet and shoes, Sam was super helpful - ended up custom ordering out of stock shoe for me.
I broke the derailleurMount on my hybrid. They had an emergency bracket. Fixed it right up. At the time I was a homeless guy on my bike and they looked out for me
Great shop. I needed to rent a bike for a quick spin around Central Park. Friendly, fair prices, new Specialized Sirrus that was the right tool for the job. I'll come back for sure.
I was appreciative to be helped for something small during this busy time for bike shops. Customer service always creates loyalty. Thank you Shane!
Very intelligent mechanics and will take the time to help you with anything you need! This shop also has lots of different gear for sale
These guys are patient and knowledgeable! I would recommend this store to anyone who is looking to buy a bicycle, lifetime tune ups as well!
My favorite bike shop. Mechanics are extremely knowledgeable and efficient - very personable and actually care about their quality of work.
Shawn fixed my bike where other shops couldn’t even diagnose the problem. Quick and easy experience, go to Shawn if you’ve got problems with your bike
Great shop on the Upper East Side. Very friendly staff and family atmosphere. Will definitely be purchasing a bike for my son there once he gets a little older.
Just got my first pair of spin shoes with Sam's help! I am so excited and I just can't hide it! 😊 He could not have been more helpful or more friendly! This is a game changer! Thank yooouuuu Shoe Guruuuu! …
Bought my spin shoes here recently. Super helpful staff, very knowledgeable, comfortable atmosphere. Ask for Sam, he's the best!
Bike shop for all types of bicycles, all levels of riders. First thing you see even before entering the store are the mechanics, like an open kitchen in a restaurant. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, ask for Shane!
The people here are awesome. It’s very obvious they are passionate about what they do. I took my scooter in to have a flat replaced and I’d go back just to hang out with these guys.
This was my go-to shop while I lived in New York. Hands down best shop if you’re in the UES. Very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful staff. Highly recommended.

Great place to buy anything bike related, friendly and knowledgeable service From Lucas, I’ll definitely keep coming back
These guys are solid. Very helpful staff and a great selection. A no nonsense bike shop.
Great and quick service on a busy day but this was definitely one of the more expensive flat fixes I've paid for in the city ($26). Really reminds you what neighborhood you're in.
Helpful and friendly staff. Never needed much from them but a tube or a brake pad in a pinch has always been met with speed and professionalism.
Great staff, and great mechanic. I highly recommend this place, specially for folding bikes.
Great place! Great service! My bike always comes back happy!
This is by far the best bike shop on the upper side. I have tried all others, these guys are leaps and bounds ahead!

What can I say but only positive things about this place! I have been to other indoor cycling bars but this one is top notch.
Came in because of a flat & mechanic went extra mile to make sure my commuter bike was in better shape than when I brought it in.
They truly know there stuff. Prices are competitive, but the knowledge down to shoes is invaluable.
Was doing deliveries bike broke down took it in and looked at it real quick for free took it in gave it a quick tune up
Best bike shop on UES. Honest, straightforward people who stand behind their products and services.
