These guys are great, just really sweet, salt of the earth people working for their community. Every time i come in, they service my bike immediately. The cost is always next to nothing, I wind up begging them to take more money… which is not accepted. a completely different experience than 90% of businesses I encounter these days.

These guys are great! They saved me twice with repairs on the spot. Last year they repaired a tire. Today I was about to get on the metro north to Pleasantville for a 25 mile bike ride and bent/ruined my rim a block from the train. They replaced my rim and had me on my way in 20 minutes. Fast friendly service at reasonable prices, work done perfectly. Highly recommended.

Love these guys. I've been here twice - once to get a bike repaired (I was in a huge pinch and they saved me) and once to get a bike assembled. Both times the guys working were nice and helpful and I didn't have to wait at all. They answered all my questions and helped me understand how my bike works. Really quick turnaround and reasonably priced!

Have been here a few times: One time I came in looking for a steel bolt for my top cap. I was expecting to pay a few dollars but they gave it to me for free. Once they were unable to remove a cog off of a fixed gear hub. They left the lockring loose but didn’t charge me. On another occasion they were charging for air. Can’t remember how much they were asking. After this I purchased several portable pumps. Problem solved. Recently I came in looking to purchase a singlespeed chain. Usually these run from ~ $12-$15. Labor and taxes may be $8. I was expecting to pay around $20. After bringing the bike over to me with the new chain(which was extremely loose) they told me the price was $35. I asked about the make of chain and it looked like something from KMC. I don’t know if it was top of the line or something standard but I have never paid that much for a single-speed chain. Thankfully they removed it and didn’t charge me anything. Ultimately I would say that they’re respectful and they work hard to provide service. They show modesty when there’s a fix they don’t feel comfortable making. They also aren’t afraid to suggest other bike shops to visit. There aren’t many bike shops in Harlem so having them there is very helpful. I suggest asking ahead of time how much a part or repair will be so that there’s no sticker shock.

Amazing service, they're always nice and they don't try to cheat you out of your money. They know exactly what they're doing and they're professional about it too. I live 5 miles away from this store but this is the first place I always go to when my bike needs fixing

Great courteous service though their phone wasn’t working. Due to COVID I was unsure if they were open. I brought my bike in to have the crank replaced. My bike is new but because I put it together myself I ended up ruining the crank. It was inexpensive and the repair was done quickly. If you purchase a new bike I highly recommend bringing it in to have it tuned up BEFORE you ride. These guys are great.

I originally brought my Trek bike to a Trek retail shop to be serviced. They assessed it and said I needed a new chain, tires and a $300 tune up. I brought by bike to Heavy Metal bike shop to compare. The tall dude road tested it and said my tires still had some tread and didn't need replacing yet, the chain was fine and teeth weren't worn so don't replace. It needed a gear adjustment, brake cables tightened and new brake pads; $47 and I was out the door in an hour. Thanks for saving me $253 Heavy Metal!!! You are 100% up front and professional. I'lll be bringing all my business your way from now on!

This shop is wonderful. I trust the crew so much. I first came for a tune up, which was timely and at a good price, then have been coming back for anything from air to fixing my brakes or gears. I always get s wonderful service, I have also gotten the best pieces and prices. I think it is the best shop in Harlem in terms of service and prices. They sell bikes and you can find different accesories. I strongly recommend visiting this shop in case you need help with your bike.

Moved here from the East Village and my home bike shop, hopped around to a couple places in Harlem but Heavy Metal outshone everyone in friendliness and helpfulness. Their work is quick, efficient, and immaculate. If you need a place in Harlem with knowledgeable folks, this is the place.

The price quoted for assembling my bicycle was reasonable and the employee finished assembling the bicycle within the time frame that was quoted.
