Reviews of JRA Bike Shop
Karen Corlett
Great local shop with excellent customer service and very reasonable prices. Brought in my mostly preassembled bike for them to complete. Easy online booking, accurate cost estimate and clear & accurate time frame for availability and time to completion. Purchased a bike lock when I picked up my assembled bike, they helped me set it up, educated me where to/not to attach the lock to the bike, and even mounted the lock carrier to my bike. A very polite, friendly, helpful and educated staff, I'm sure they get highly experienced riders in there every day but they made this novice biker not feel like a fool! I'll go back to them for any bike needs. Love having great service and expertise when supporting an independent local business.

Wow - this place RULES! I just moved to Seattle on Monday and had some front derailleur issues on my brand new bike. I sent an email last night, Luke responded this morning and had me bring it in for a quick fix. Not only did he fix my problem, but he taught me what he was doing and what to watch for in the future. Amazing welcome to the city, highly recommend.

Great experience with a wheel truing. My road wheel was poorly tensioned and had a fast horizontal hop in it and I wasn't expecting that be correctable. To my surprise the JRA shop got that wheel dialed! Service was affordable and working with the shop was a great experience. I also saw some unique products (bar tape) that I've not seen carried in other shops. I'll be back!

I dropped off my Spectrum road bike for boxing and shipping off to my home in NV on Oct 30 2022. The level of effort and care that the shop personnel put into this service was outstanding. Little touches like zip tying pedal washers to the pedals so they wouldn't end up loose in the box. Placing a piece of scrap tubing (with a nutted screw to secure it in place) within the seat tube cluster to protect it, H2o bottle cages removed but they kept the mounting screws threaded into the mounts, any cable or component(s) that were loose upon packing were securely zip tied (I counted 25 zip ties that were utilized). Just a fabulous job by people that care about what they do. Whether you live in or are just visiting Seattle with your bike, if you need a part, service or something new off the rack, do yourself a favor and pay JRA a visit.

Service shop is legit. Great quoting process, great service, good pricing. My bike is dialed in.

seriously the best. gummed up the cable to my front derailleur and they happily took on the annoying task of replacing and rerunning. was kind enough to explain how I goofed without making me feel like I actually goofed. all at a great rate $ and super quick turnaround.
a lot of great bike shops in our area but this will be my go-to from now on.
christhesmith
Super friendly, and always willing to share tips and tricks to help your commute! (Even when you're inadvertently wearing a t-shirt from a competitor!) Dropped in on my bike on the way home for a replacement 'knog' brand safety light. Got $5 off when I bought two and got to pick my colors too. Great!

I cannot say enough great things about JRA Bike Shop and the people who run it. I highly recommend this shop for sales and especially for service.
My Story: I bought an e-bike online. Had a local shop assemble it (so so job). After riding it for a month or so I took the bike to JRA for its first post-break-in tune-up.
I also wanted to upgrade the brakes (I'm a big guy who rides fast and the original brakes were not quite enough for my comfort) and raise the bars so my old back could sit upright.
JRA did a remarkable job. Quick, fair, and expert-grade. Patient with excited newbies. Very patient. Job-like.
JRA took the bike I bought online and made it above and beyond my expectations. Something about the tune-up made it feel like a new bike. And coaxed an extra 2 mph top speed out of it. I'm about to book its second tune-up, after almost 600 miles. The cable needs adjustment and pre-emptive brake pad change, most likely, but the bike is *still* running fine after their tune-up.
This time I'm going to ask them to install seat suspension. I cannot wait for that New JRA Tune-Up Ride again. Updates to follow.
I forgot to mention: JRA has a great selection of premium e-bikes in stock. I love the discount e-bike I ordered from the internet, but, if I had it to do again, I'd buy from a local bike shop like JRA instead: The bike will be built right, the first time, and the warranty service is frictionless. And you are supporting people in your community. JRA turned my discount e-bike into a rocket. I can only imagine what their tune-up team can do with one of the primo e-bikes they carry. Please say hello for me. And warn them they'll be seeing me soon.
Tony
Extremely good. Got a lot of garbage advice from other places but JRA folks were to the point and extremely helpful. Definitely recommend these guys.
Chris Rowley
Amazing customer service, they’re incredibly friendly and provide a super professional service. Everytime I go in for a repair or service they’re so quick and my bike always rides better. I’ve tried other cycle shops and this is now the only one I use
Aidan Sakakini
The best service I have ever received at a bike shop. They are always willing to fix whatever the issue is and freely educate customers along the way. Stella, Skilled pillar of the community!
Scott
A big thanks to the mechanics at JRA. Thank you so much for replacing my shredded gear shift cable and tube!
Absolutely professional and courteous. I showed up way before opening time, because I was coming off of a night shift. When they arrived they set a few things up to start the day off and came right out to meet me (I've been here before). They took my work order and told me they'd contact me as soon as it was done. They did just that and I had my bike returned in working order within the day. Payment by card was quick and without issue, then I was on my way.
When they saw I was struggling to put my heavy backpack over my shoulder, they even offered to help. Maybe it was a one-off, but I appreciated the thought.
Friendly, caring, conscientious, professional. If anybody reading this needs their bike serviced or is looking to buy; I can't say if these guys are better than who you're used to, but JRA is a competent bike shop and is worth giving a try.
Bobby Hines
The service department is knowledgeable and helpful. I tried another shop first but they weren’t willing to help transfer a race without reassembling and bringing the whole bike in, and they wanted me to purchase an entire new headset rather than transfer existing parts. These guys had it sorted in minutes.
Patrick Chung
The crew at JRA are truly the best. I've been a customer since 7/2018 and they've only had my best interests in mind. They even suggest cheaper alternatives to what I'm looking for - they are not out to upsell you at all. Helpful, friendly and personable this crew is awesome to chat with; I haven't had the same type of service anywhere else. 2 thumbs up. 👍
Kathryn Whitehill
First time bringing my bike here and I am so happy I did! Excellent service. My repaired bike rides like a dream. They were quick, communicative, and fairly priced. They even stayed past closing so I could pick up my bike after work. 10 stars. Thank you guys!!
Art Lansing
I flatted on my road bike about a mile from the shop, and managed to hoof it over. Both of the folks in there were super helpful and kind enough to lend me the shop pump to get my spare tube seated and inflated. I've driven by a ton of times, but this was the first time I dropped in. I'll definitely make sure to recommend them to anyone in the neighborhood!
K Tho
I had to get both wheels replaced on my Surly long haul trucker and the folks at JRA had my bike in and out in 24 hours along with a few other minor fixes and at a super reasonable price. They’re always direct, knowledgeable, and explain exactly what they recommend and why. This is now my go-to bike shop in Seattle!
Erik Ochwat
JRA is the place to go! I dropped my bike off and it was ready for pickup in under 24 hours. Not only did they fix the chain issue I had but they also tightened my brakes. Even cost less than I anticipated.
Speed, quality and service. What more could you want?
Josh Palmer
I don't usually write reviews for businesses, but JRA is one of the most personable bike shops I've ever been to. Great prices and great bikes and accessories. Walked in on a slower Monday afternoon and I was the only customer. The person working (owner, perhaps) spent nearly 45 minutes chatting with me about bikes, bike trails, and different helmets. Will definitely be buying my next bike from this crew.
Bill Wolford
Want a great Seattle Bike Store? If you come here, you will leave satisfied. I went in to buy a wheel that got stolen off my old bike. Was surprised at the price of the wheel and install actually, but I hadn't done any research. However, they did more than replace the wheel, they tuned it up pretty well with the wheel and the bike has never ridden better. Very Very happy.
Anna Galusza
Needed to have my front derailleur replaced. Staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Most importantly, though, they're taking covid very seriously, so I felt safe having them work on my bike.
Rich Olson
Quintessential "Local Bike Shop" (LBS) Same people have worked here for ages. They are all friendly and helpful.
They sell good equipment at reasonable prices. They will fix your stuff when you've screwed it up working on it in your shed.
If you're about to order something online - give these guys a call first to see if they have something for you in-stock.
James Beltz
The personal interaction was limited. Any other year that probably would be an issue but in this case not so much to me anyways. Their work was exceptional and I will continue to have my bikes problems handled by them in the future. Thank you for getting my bike back on the road for me. Y'all don't understand what it means to me.
Henning Mann
Great staff. Not pushy but super friendly and knowledgeable. We will definitely come back!
My girlfriend is picky with sales people but she loved it there, got a bike recommended, test rode it, bought it the same day and rode it home - and is very happy with it!
Sasan Ehdaie
Great service! Broke a gear cable. Went in thinking I would have to drop off and come back in several days. The mechanic came over, took my bike, put it on the stand and started working on it on the spot. He also put on a new set of brake pads and I was out in less than 20 minutes and reasonable $40 charge. I was on the road the next day! Great customers service.
Wesley Cox
About a year ago, my bike got stolen. Just last week, a customer brings their bike in to add some accessories to it, but while talking with that customer picked up on some red flags (such as that they got this bike for only ~$50 from someone random). They decided to look it up on the bike index, and found that it was my bike! They got it returned back to me, and were very friendly and helpful throughout the entire process.
Aaron Whitehill
I commute from the Bothell area to Greenwood and these guys have helped me out of quite a few jams. Always willing to talk, help out, find the right solution, and their shop rates are reasonable. I'm fairly new to the cycling game and they have never once seemed annoyed when I bombard them with questions.
5-star staff
5-star mechanics
If you need it, they probably have it
You get more than you pay for here, for sure.
Arthur Bacon
I have been in this shop a few times always with the same result; very satisfied. Today I went there with an old pump that I had not been able to repair. Luke took it inside and then came back to tell me it was missing a piece. He suggest leaving it and perhaps he could find another piece that would work. Ten minutes later he called to say the pump was fixed. These guys are VERY good, but never too good to apply 100% effort on the smallest problem. This is definitely my new go-to shop. Gregg's is good but so are these guys. Support local! My ride: Super Record Gios Torino and Gary Fisher Hoo Koo e Koo Comp.
Michele Egan
I have patroned JRA multiple times over the years and found Brandon and the entire staff to be very knowledgeable and passionate about bikes and the cycling culture. Safety is so important and having a bike that is in perfect repair is essential to a life long cycling experience.
Jim Cheairs
Discovered this shop in 2017 and have yet to be disappointed. Have had three bikes serviced here - tune ups to frame rebuilds - and the work was affordable and well done. Everyone who works here is friendly and unpretentious. I highly recommend this place.
Pete McBride
Very knowledgeable staff, I bought my commuter there in 2015 and it’s been my go-to shop for repairs and tuneup’s ever since.
coco cook
Great people and prices. We came with a broken brake cable and a missing nut for the front tire. The gentleman fixed the cable and replaced the nut within 5 minutes dmv charged us $4. It was totally worth the drive from shoreline
Graham Clenaghan
I recently overhauled my bike, and this shop was essential to my success. I bought a couple of components here, but the incident that stands out is when I had trouble adjusting my rear derailleur. I gave up doing it myself and brought it in expecting to pay for them to do it, but they took a look at it, lubed my shifter, and sold me the precise amount of cable housing needed to replace a problematic piece. Total cost: $2.16.
Arthur Deranleau
JRA is an amazing bike shop. I found the staff and the service to be very helpful and kind. Not only did I have a good time, I learned a lot about my bike. Overall a very nice bike shop with good prices.
Sandor K.
Have been here many times for parts and a few small repairs. People are nice and know their stuff. Great selection of items in store. Love the community feel of this place, you can tell they care about what they do.
Steven Redpath
What a great shop. Luke took care servicing a 30 year old bottom bracket on my Bianchi Trofeo. He thinks it was the first service ever. The shop took care to clean, inspect, and keep my rode in original Italian form. I am ready for another season of hard riding. JRA, they care about your ride.
C F
There are two kinds of shops out there, the kinds that try to talk you into expensive repairs and upgrades. And the kinds who tell you the truth. JRA is the later, twice I've taken bikes into their shop, and twice I've walked away with and expertly repaired bike at more than reasonable prices. The person who trued my back wheel is an artist, and I will be trusting my cycles to JRA.
James Manning
This place is great. The dude in the back stopped what he was doing to square me away with some brake cable stuff. Knowledgeable gentleman saved me money and learned me some things about bicycles.
elita w.
Can't recommend this shop enough! I'm a recent transplant and my older bike sustained some damage in the move. Everyone in the shop from Corbett upfront to the team in the back, got me and my bike back on the road in 'like-new' condition. We'll be back for all repairs, big and small.
Marque' Moody
Highly recommend going here if you need service on your bike. The staff are very knowledgeable, friendly, and willing to answer all of your questions.
Jim Doggett
Great staff and excellent product choices for a smaller neighborhood bike shop with less retail space making it clear that they know quality and value and have real enthusiasts owning and running it. I would rate it the best in Seattle having shopped Greggs, Performance, Montlake, and many others in my 30 years of riding bikes.
J Bach
Came in without an appointment on the first summery weekend of the year and got great help. Be sure to make an appointment because, like every other bike shop in town, they're booked out when the weather is nice. But very friendly, helpful people.
Colm Flynn
This is a great local bike shop.
Eric and co. know their stuff cold. They've done a great job of repairing my bikes and my kids' bikes when they've needed it. They've built wheels for me; they've replaced obscure bits of elderly Campagnolo groupsets. They've often done far more than I'd reasonably expect in order to get me mobile again. The prices for repairs are very good too.
Aside from the repairs, JRA carries a good range of new and used bikes and accessories. The new cycles are mainly Redlines and Norcos (not a brand I know, but they seem to offer good value) plus a choice of big ol' cargo bikes.
JRA is a great bike shop, that's worth going an extra mile for. The fact that they are located conveniently right in my neighbourhood is just a bonus.
Rob Primozich
Luke went above and beyond to help me repair my mtn bike even though I ultimately purchased nothing directly from his shop! Amazing customer service and Going way beyond what was expected of him!
Nicole Beerman
We had such a great experience with JRA Bike Shop! We went to them based on the great reviews posted here. They are friendly, honest, and fast. We will definitely be coming back!
Amanda Benson
I love that this is my neighborhood bike shop. They are the best! They're super friendly and have a good selection of both bikes and accessories.
Sarah W.
Pretty disappointed by my experience. Went here because I heard so many great things from other people, and the reviews were great. I don't know much about bikes at all, and bought a cheap used road bike just to try things out. The website and reviews made me feel totally comfortable about coming in clueless, and I was ready to learn, but when I got there, I just felt like an idiot and immediately regretted going in. The guy helping me was just very quite, and did not offer up much info very easily. Mind you, I don't even know what questions to ask to get more info. I can only say "i'm new at this and don't know what i'm doing" so many times. I chalked it up to being the end of the day and it was super busy.
But I felt the same awkwardness picking up my bike. I kinda expected a run down of what all was worked on/ fixed, but nothing. Very quite transaction. I guess everthing on the bike is fine. Seems to be riding ok. I have no idea though. Repair costs were less than expected though which is a plus.
Oliver Scholz
This is the best bike shop ever, especially for repairs. Luke and Justin are craftsmen. JRA treats its customers great, their prices are fair, and quite a bit better than other shops in the area.
Erik Choi
I called to make an appointment and the person helped me out over the phone so I didn't even need to come in! If anyone wants to make an appointment though please be sure to email first to check out what the schedule looks like. If my bike needs any major repairs I know who to go to!
Brion Humenay
Great local bike shop in the Greenwood area. Staff are both knowledgeable and helpful, while always taking the time to explain the WHY to less experienced riders like myself.
Ethan Scothorn
Every time I've brought my bike to this store, I've always been surprised by how affordable the work is. Excellent customer service and top notch repairs and alterations.
Justin Dule
Bought a Jamis Comp today with additional accessories. Steve was very helpful assisting me to find the right bike for my body size and commuting needs. I look forward to breaking it in and returning for adjustments.
Jonathan Martin
I have been going t recycled cycles forever and love them. So when I moved north I was reluctant to work with a new shop. These guys are fantastic, knowledgeable and do not try to upswell you on expensive solutions.
Luke Allumbaugh
WE HAVE MOVED! Friends and loyal customers: JRA Bikeshop has moved to our new larger location at 1120 NW 85TH, which is north one block and west 4~ blocks from our old location! Come and see us! We still do everything we did before, but now with more room, more products and more chandeliers!
Daniel Kim (Danny)
Great customer service! We bought my wife’s cross bike here and we would definitely recommend JRA over other places that have employees that are either not as knowledgeable or not as helpful.
Roxanne Robles
This place is rad! Every time I've walked with a small thing they've helped me out immediately. None of the machismo of other shops, and the mechanics know what they're doing and explained what was going on.
Prescott Hodge
Open during the covid pandemic, JRA were vigilant with regard to safety and social distancing. They responded quickly and efficiently to all requests and allowed for non-contact drop off and pickup. Thank you JRA!
Ray Bobohabib
I've been there couple of times last two weeks Luke was amazing very knowledgeable very friendly took his time to explain everything for me I definitely recommend this place especially luke.
You won't disappointed
Michael Gawthorp
Very friendly and helpful, going over and above finding some bolts I needed for my bicycle.
Miles Hunter
Great place. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. I get my e-bike commuter serviced here. Way better than dealing with the Rad Bike service department!
A
Took my bike in for a tune-up. They did a great job and got it done when they said they would. Drive train and brakes work better now than when the bike was new.
Nathan Seppi
What else is there to say, they are good at what they do and it actually seems like they are there to help you and get you on the road. Always a good feeling when you can trust your bike mechanic and know they are on your side.
Tim Hiestand
Took my bike in to replace shift cables and was very, very satisfied with the timeliness, friendly and professional service, update calls and especially the reaonable cost.

Seungsook Park
(Translation) I happened to pass by and stopped by to check the wheels of my bike, and everyone is kind, friendly, fun, and they do a great job repairing them. Especially among the staff, Steve is so good at telling stories. I had a very pleasant time there and came out feeling good on a better bike. They also gave me some leftover T-shirts from the JRA store, so I got one and put it on. Skilled, honest, hard-working, yet laid-back and with a sense of humor, Seattle's premier bike repair team. Accessories are also sold cheaply, so I came out with a few things that I usually regret. This is a shop you can trust and entrust your favorite bike to!
